00:00:00.000 this is from Aaron says hello Matt my best friend is in a relationship where his girlfriend the 0.74
00:00:17.440 mother of his child will on occasion accuse him of cheating and become so engulfed with rage that
00:00:21.940 she will yell at him call slash facetime him until his phone dies she's also thrown things at him 1.00
00:00:27.620 and punched scratched and bruised him on multiple occasions all in arguments that in retrospect
00:00:31.880 they both admit were meaningless I worry for their soon-to-be three-year-old child to grow up in an
00:00:36.280 environment where a parent becomes so overcome with wrath that she resorts to any means to get
00:00:40.340 her point across I think it's admirable to want to keep a nuclear family for the sake of the child 0.97
00:00:44.480 my question is am I the a-hole for wanting to limit my time around them especially her she's told my
00:00:49.740 girlfriend lies about me and has asked her to keep information from me on her behalf my girlfriend and 0.99
00:00:54.280 I are honest to one another so those attempts do not work but my girlfriend has a big heart and
00:00:58.560 negative energy can be an emotional strain on her my friend says I'm being rude and excessive for
00:01:02.820 telling my girl to not be around her when she doesn't have to while I'm trying to maintain my
00:01:06.940 own relationship of course in situations like family get-togethers or a wedding we will attend
00:01:11.520 and be cordial but in the event that we want to go out to eat alone I'll ask my girlfriend to politely
00:01:17.280 decline no you're not the a-hole you have every right to decide who you want to be around I always 1.00
00:01:21.600 think it's funny when I get these kinds of questions and um maybe maybe I'm the wrong guy
00:01:25.880 to answer them because I'm antisocial so I I never this is not anything that I ever struggle with I
00:01:33.260 wish you could see this you're really struggling I never struggle with this idea should I be around
00:01:37.680 somebody I don't want to be around no I don't that's one thing if it's a close family member if
00:01:44.480 god forbid you're married to someone that you go through a period you don't want to be around them
00:01:48.540 uh something like that well then it's like yeah you got now you have to work through that you
00:01:52.760 got to work on that
00:01:53.620 um you can't just uh cut somebody like that out of your life but if it's outside of that
00:02:02.540 um if it's someone it's an acquaintance a friend someone you knew a long time ago whatever and
00:02:08.620 it's a negative experience to be around them then you're perfectly within your rights
00:02:14.760 to limit the time you spend around them I know what I have to do but I don't know if
00:02:19.380 I have the strength to do it you don't even have to you don't have to wrestle with it very much
00:02:25.740 uh people you know there are people who are just miserable like it sounds like this woman is and 0.64
00:02:31.280 they want to inflict that on those around them and so your response is I don't want to be around
00:02:37.400 that and so you limit that time you spend around them and in fact even with family members that might
00:02:42.120 be the case too where they want to inflict their misery on you and so you don't want to be around
00:02:45.860 them because of it and that's all on them that's not on you picture if you will the perfect summer

00:03:57.780 not happen as in my wife told me that she almost broke up with me while we were dating but four
00:04:02.820 anniversaries later and two beautiful kids clearly she did not break up with me the story of my first
00:04:07.680 visit to meet her parents came up and she said that that night was almost the end for us because
00:04:12.340 her mom made meatloaf and i barely ate any of it i can't stand meatloaf and this was well known by my
00:04:17.920 wife at the time and she communicated this to her parents but her mom made it anyway i ate a few bites
00:04:22.840 of it and fully ate all the sides but apparently this almost set my wife over the edge but i did not
00:04:27.440 choke down and risk the vomit because her mom needed the gratification of me eating her cooked meal 1.00
00:04:32.000 i responded the fact that i tried the meatloaf at all was supposed to gain me extra points
00:04:35.900 since i was very upfront about my dislike of meatloaf and that there's no reason for me to
00:04:40.040 extra explain myself since we're just talking about how i was set up to fail but i was asked 0.96
00:04:44.520 to succeed anyway there's definitely an asshole here is it me for not extra trying to choke down 0.95
00:04:49.160 more meatloaf or my wife for openly acknowledging it was a spot where i was set up to fail well it's 0.99
00:04:54.080 definitely you i mean it's you 100 on on so many different levels uh first of all i'm a firm believer
00:04:58.960 in you're a guest at somebody's house you eat whatever is put on your plate i don't care what
00:05:05.340 it is i don't care if they take their shoe off their foot and put it on your plate and say we're 0.99
00:05:11.580 eating shoes tonight you eat the damn shoe he's kidding right he's not kidding i've told my kids 0.99
00:05:17.760 this many times they know whatever's put on your plate you eat it and if we're at somebody's house 1.00
00:05:22.460 if we're a guest at someone's house and they serve food on your plate it's even more you damn well
00:05:28.120 better eat it i don't care what it is and if it's bad if the person doesn't know how to cook well 1.00
00:05:32.180 then we're all suffering together we are in this together but you eat the food you're also an asshole 1.00
00:05:36.520 because meatloaf is delicious like what do you mean you don't like meatloaf what kind of man are you 1.00
00:05:40.980 this is you have fallen for this is a branding thing okay the only problem meatloaf has the reason
00:05:46.580 meatloaf has a bad reputation and a lot of kids don't like meatloaf is because of the name like
00:05:52.020 meatloaf oh that seems gross at first blush right it's just whoever came up with the name for meatloaf
00:06:00.260 didn't spend any time thinking about it and all they they just looked at it and said well it's uh
00:06:04.520 looks kind of like a loaf and it's meat so that's meatloaf it i think if we called it some i don't
00:06:10.620 even know we could workshop it but like to come up with some come up with some french what is
00:06:15.620 meatloaf in french to call it that and uh then i think everybody would agree that obviously
00:06:21.720 meatloaf is delicious so you've fallen for anti-meatloaf propaganda um it's very i think
00:06:28.560 it is unmanly to not like meatloaf uh it should be you know it's a comfort food it's a classic
00:06:34.360 comfort food meatloaf mashed potatoes gravy what kind of man are you that you don't enjoy that kind
00:06:41.920 of food and then on the third level you know this is at a time when right you just you just started
00:06:46.900 dating you're trying to impress this young lady her mom is making food and you would actually get all
00:06:53.760 skimpy and eating and get squeamish oh i don't like that it's i don't like meatloaf sorry do you have a
00:06:59.860 vegan substitute a vegan a gluten-free vegan somehow your marriage worked out and you have kids and
00:07:07.220 hopefully you you teach them to eat their food unlike you but uh she would have been justified 1.00
00:07:11.540 in dumping you right then on the spot i think it would have been totally justified so uh unfortunately 0.99
00:07:18.000 you are the a**hole three times over eat your food okay 0.99
00:07:22.700 just eat it eat it get yourself an egg and beat it have some more chicken have some more pie 1.00
00:07:32.740 it doesn't matter if it's boiled or fried just eat it
