00:00:30.740 When I found out my friend got a great deal on a wool coat from Winners,
00:00:34.500 I started wondering, is every fabulous item I see from Winners?
00:00:39.060 Like that woman over there with the designer jeans. 1.00
00:00:41.980 Are those from Winners?
00:00:43.520 Ooh, or those beautiful gold earrings?
00:00:45.980 Did she pay full price?
00:00:47.300 Or that leather tote? Or that cashmere sweater?
00:00:49.520 Or those knee-high boots?

00:01:01.320 Welcome to The Megyn Kelly Show.
00:01:03.260 Your home for open, honest, and provocative conversations.
00:01:13.860 Hey everybody, it's me, Megyn Kelly.
00:01:15.920 Welcome to The Megyn Kelly Show.
00:01:18.000 Adam Carolla has one of the most popular podcasts in the country.
00:01:21.700 And he apologizes for nothing.
00:01:25.620 He doesn't believe in it.
00:01:26.920 And he doesn't believe in bowing to the mob.
00:01:29.240 He believes in saying what he actually feels.
00:01:32.480 Which is one of the reasons why I admire him.
00:01:35.140 He also has friendships across the aisle.
00:01:37.480 He's still great friends with Jimmy Kimmel,
00:01:39.380 with whom he hosted The Man Show,
00:01:40.900 though their politics could not be farther apart.
00:01:43.380 And may serve as an example to the rest of us
00:01:45.680 in how we can get along with folks
00:01:47.000 even when we don't see eye-to-eye on the tough stuff.
00:01:53.500 So do you have bad credit?
00:01:54.840 So many people do.
00:01:55.940 I used to have hideous credit.
00:01:57.200 There's no shame to it.
00:01:58.340 But you don't have to sit around with it.
00:01:59.780 You can actually improve it.
00:02:00.680 And even if you have just mediocre credit or okay credit,
00:02:03.880 you can get that score up pretty easily.
00:02:06.220 In fact, if you work with the guys at ScoreMaster,
00:02:09.500 you can get your credit score way up.
00:02:13.600 And in fact, the average American has 97 points
00:02:16.200 they can add to their credit score relatively easily.
00:02:19.580 So ScoreMaster is this new credit science
00:02:21.380 that will super boost your credit score.
00:02:23.480 Not just a few points.
00:02:24.960 Nobody wants that.
00:02:25.780 That doesn't do you any good.
00:02:26.820 But their average is a raise of 61 points
00:02:31.080 in 20 days or less.
00:02:32.420 So you're looking at that new car.
00:02:33.620 You're looking at that new home.
00:02:35.600 In basically a couple of weeks,
00:02:37.240 you can get your credit cards or credit rating up
00:02:40.020 by 61 points, which is big, your credit score.
00:02:44.320 Like if it was in the high 500s or mid 600s,
00:02:47.080 your credit rating when you bought your new car,
00:02:48.940 if you had gone to ScoreMaster first
00:02:50.260 and raised your credit score,
00:02:51.680 just the average of 61 points that our listeners get,
00:02:54.040 you could have saved 9,000 bucks on your car loan.
00:02:57.520 And if you'd gone to ScoreMaster
00:02:58.480 before you applied for a home loan
00:02:59.920 and raised your score,
00:03:01.240 again, just the average of 61 points,
00:03:02.820 they might be able to do better for you
00:03:04.060 that our listeners get,
00:03:05.380 you could have saved almost 100,000 bucks
00:03:07.660 over the life of your loan.
00:03:09.200 Think about that.
00:03:09.880 This is worth a phone call, no?
00:03:11.620 If you own a business,
00:03:13.040 you know how essential great credit is
00:03:14.800 and you can go to ScoreMaster first
00:03:16.660 just to see how super boosting
00:03:18.700 your business credit score
00:03:19.680 could save you a fortune.
00:03:20.700 So here's the bottom line.
00:03:22.440 ScoreMaster will put you in control of your finances,
00:03:24.780 not the banks,
00:03:25.760 and it will put you in a better position to save money.
00:03:28.400 You can enroll in minutes,
00:03:29.980 see how many plus points ScoreMaster
00:03:31.740 can add to your credit score.

00:03:35.660 Again, it's scoremaster.com slash MK.
00:03:44.720 Adam Carolla, thank you so much for being here.
00:03:47.340 It's my pleasure, Megan.
00:03:49.380 So I knew I liked you
00:03:51.240 because I saw you on O'Reilly for years
00:03:54.120 and you were always so funny and raw.
00:03:57.000 But the moment we really fell in love,
00:03:59.500 whether you knew it or not,
00:04:00.540 was during No Safe Spaces,
00:04:02.820 which my friend Mark Joseph produced
00:04:05.360 and made with you guys,
00:04:06.740 you and Dennis Prager, among others.
00:04:08.880 And it was the thing that most profoundly affected me
00:04:12.440 over the past two years that I've had off.
00:04:15.420 I sat in the movie theater.
00:04:17.660 I could not move,
00:04:20.840 especially when you started to talk about,
00:04:24.120 what happened at Evergreen College
00:04:26.160 with Brett Weinstein,
00:04:27.460 which I'll get to in a second.
00:04:28.420 But can you just tell me,
00:04:30.000 why did you say yes to that,
00:04:32.660 to having him follow you around
00:04:33.760 all these college campuses
00:04:34.700 and cover these controversies?
00:04:37.540 Well, thanks for watching the movie
00:04:39.000 and I'm glad it had an effect on you.
00:04:41.760 I don't chart my projects or career out
00:04:47.780 as painstakingly as some people might think I do.
00:04:52.700 I simply, it's like people say,
00:04:57.360 why did you do Dancing with the Stars?
00:04:59.300 And I said, because they asked.
00:05:01.540 That's why Dancing with the Stars.
00:05:03.300 I never thought about it.
00:05:04.340 I just did it.
00:05:05.440 I love Dennis Prager.
00:05:07.860 I wasn't that familiar with the team at the time.
00:05:11.040 I now love Mark Joseph
00:05:12.920 and many other people that were involved with the project.
00:05:15.760 But to me, somebody said,
00:05:18.120 you just want to,
00:05:18.840 do you want to do a project with Dennis Prager?
00:05:20.780 And I love spending time with Dennis Prager so much
00:05:25.220 that just the notion of hanging around
00:05:28.120 in the dressing room or the makeup room
00:05:30.840 or sort of backstage, as it were,
00:05:34.380 and just chewing the fat with Dennis Prager
00:05:36.280 sounded so enticing to me
00:05:38.260 that I just immediately said yes.
00:05:40.140 Yeah, I, he, he was also fearless in the movie.
00:05:46.120 But I, so the movie's about, you know,
00:05:48.680 how we shouldn't have these safe spaces,
00:05:50.560 but more and more we're seeing them
00:05:52.080 and how damaging they are.
00:05:54.260 But the, the scene that I said,
00:05:55.920 like really brought it home
00:05:56.820 was when you guys, you covered
00:05:58.300 what went on at,
00:06:00.260 at Evergreen College
00:06:01.920 out in the Pacific Northwest.
00:06:03.740 What's the specific city?
00:06:04.800 Um, Evergreen is,
00:06:09.760 there's a whole bunch of little colleges.
00:06:12.920 So, uh, anyway, for me,
00:06:15.160 I'll, I'll, I'll circle back.
00:06:16.760 I grew up in North Hollywood.
00:06:17.960 I was a kind of a standout football player
00:06:20.740 in high school and I got,
00:06:22.060 but not that good,
00:06:22.940 but I did get recruited to play
00:06:24.760 at like Willamette and Lewis and Clark
00:06:27.560 and all these weird little schools
00:06:29.760 that were up in the Oregon
00:06:31.580 and Washington area.
00:06:32.800 So I think Evergreen is just
00:06:34.880 one of those small colleges
00:06:36.800 that's in, in nestled in that area.
00:06:39.540 But it's ironic because it's so bucolic.
00:06:42.120 It's so peaceful.
00:06:43.480 And it's the last place
00:06:45.080 you'd ever think anything
00:06:46.020 like this would ever happen.
00:06:48.000 So at the college,
00:06:49.540 they had had sort of a,
00:06:51.280 a voluntary sick out for years,
00:06:54.080 um, amongst the students of color,
00:06:56.580 black students, students of color,
00:06:58.200 to sort of show the classmates,
00:07:00.640 this is what life would be like
00:07:01.820 without us.
00:07:02.840 And it was a voluntary thing
00:07:04.020 and they had done it for years.
00:07:05.320 And then the day came when they said,
00:07:07.480 how about if this year
00:07:08.460 the white people did not come?
00:07:11.240 And Brett Weinstein,
00:07:12.820 a liberal college there who,
00:07:14.460 a liberal professor there
00:07:15.460 who supported most of
00:07:16.940 these progressive causes said,
00:07:19.220 you know,
00:07:19.980 it's a little different
00:07:21.120 when you have one race
00:07:22.720 telling the other race not to come. 0.99
00:07:24.720 And that,
00:07:25.740 that may cause some discomfort
00:07:27.500 with people.
00:07:28.720 All hell broke loose.
00:07:30.840 And, and, you know,
00:07:32.400 you, why don't you tell us
00:07:33.440 what, what happened to Brett?
00:07:36.120 Well, Brett sort of said,
00:07:38.720 you guys can do whatever you want,
00:07:41.220 but I'm going to be showing up
00:07:42.680 to work on Monday.
00:07:44.760 And he showed up
00:07:46.500 and he just began teaching his class.
00:07:49.080 And I think,
00:07:50.900 I don't want to even say naively,
00:07:53.240 I don't think any of us
00:07:54.340 would have had
00:07:55.060 much, many thoughts about it,
00:07:57.360 especially a few years ago.
00:07:58.940 He's going to show up,
00:07:59.600 he's going to teach,
00:08:00.400 but it started to,
00:08:01.420 started to realize
00:08:02.520 there was like an angry mob
00:08:04.160 forming outside of his classroom.
00:08:07.140 And then at some point
00:08:08.540 he was told he had to basically
00:08:10.080 leave for his own safety.
00:08:12.320 And the most rep,
00:08:13.960 you know,
00:08:14.440 I think a lot of people
00:08:15.760 take away a lot of different things
00:08:19.400 from that moment.
00:08:23.760 And maybe some of the things
00:08:26.000 you take away are different
00:08:27.320 than some of the things
00:08:28.280 I take away.
00:08:30.500 You know, it wasn't the mob.
00:08:33.120 It wasn't the angry students.
00:08:35.320 It wasn't the 19 year olds
00:08:38.460 who are out of control
00:08:39.620 that really scared me.
00:08:42.240 It was the faculty
00:08:43.720 and the dean
00:08:45.880 and the security
00:08:47.280 that just stood back
00:08:48.720 and said,
00:08:49.360 we don't want to agitate
00:08:50.660 these people
00:08:51.520 so you're on your own.
00:08:53.000 Meaning that to me
00:08:55.600 is the scary part
00:08:57.360 about where we're heading
00:08:58.980 as a society.
00:09:00.040 If you sort of look at Evergreen
00:09:02.000 as a microcosm
00:09:04.920 of what's going on in Portland
00:09:07.820 or what's going on
00:09:09.740 in many cities
00:09:12.040 in our country,
00:09:13.720 it's not really
00:09:14.560 the angry 19 year olds
00:09:16.520 who are out there
00:09:17.320 pulling people out of cars
00:09:18.920 or hurting people
00:09:19.800 or looting
00:09:21.540 or breaking glass.
00:09:23.360 That's a constant.
00:09:25.000 That's always been with us
00:09:26.740 and probably always
00:09:27.600 will be with us.
00:09:28.880 What happened
00:09:29.940 to the authority?
00:09:31.280 What happened
00:09:31.880 to the mayors?
00:09:33.040 What happened
00:09:33.700 to the police?
00:09:34.840 What's going on?
00:09:36.060 So they all
00:09:36.760 just stepped back
00:09:38.060 and they just basically
00:09:39.440 told the professor,
00:09:40.880 Brett Weinstein,
00:09:42.620 you're on your own.
00:09:44.380 I'm now taking
00:09:45.720 my marching orders
00:09:47.040 from the mob.
00:09:48.480 So basically,
00:09:50.300 the folks that
00:09:52.080 the lunatics
00:09:55.240 had taken over the asylum,
00:09:56.900 the real person
00:09:59.520 in my mind
00:10:00.800 who's responsible
00:10:03.240 and who almost
00:10:04.920 had blood on his hands
00:10:06.300 was the faculty
00:10:09.200 and the administration
00:10:11.120 of Evergreen College
00:10:12.520 who just stood back
00:10:13.460 and let this whole thing happen.
00:10:15.140 And it's just a microcosm
00:10:16.320 of what we're seeing
00:10:17.380 at so many universities
00:10:18.900 across the country.
00:10:19.960 I can't really think
00:10:21.600 of any off the top
00:10:22.740 of my head
00:10:23.280 where the faculty
00:10:24.720 chooses to stand
00:10:26.120 behind a professor
00:10:27.920 who's gotten in trouble
00:10:29.460 for some nothing,
00:10:31.720 some nothingness.
00:10:33.180 I mean,
00:10:33.540 the controversy
00:10:34.100 is invented
00:10:34.780 out of whole cloth
00:10:35.940 in most of these instances.
00:10:37.940 But here,
00:10:38.900 let me tell you
00:10:39.340 the moment for me.
00:10:40.400 And for me,
00:10:40.820 it was a life-changing moment
00:10:42.580 where there was
00:10:44.500 a young Black girl
00:10:45.880 who was one
00:10:46.600 of Brett's students
00:10:47.520 and she wanted
00:10:49.580 to speak to him
00:10:50.460 about what he wrote
00:10:51.700 in his letter
00:10:52.120 and why.
00:10:52.940 That's it.
00:10:53.740 She just wanted 0.78
00:10:54.420 to understand
00:10:55.240 why he did it,
00:10:56.940 which seems
00:10:57.860 like a good thing
00:10:58.560 whether you want
00:10:59.940 to protest him or not.
00:11:00.960 You should know
00:11:01.360 what you're dealing with.
00:11:02.020 And she was shouted down
00:11:06.380 by the mob
00:11:07.560 as though she were
00:11:09.340 in a KKK hat.
00:11:11.640 And the next day,
00:11:13.320 she was forced,
00:11:15.180 forced to read
00:11:16.720 what was essentially
00:11:18.280 an apology
00:11:19.460 for trying to speak to him.
00:11:23.240 And we have a clip
00:11:24.280 of Brett Weinstein
00:11:25.100 talking about that moment.
00:11:27.440 Here it is.
00:11:28.560 The next day,
00:11:29.380 the protesters
00:11:30.340 made a point
00:11:33.240 of bringing her
00:11:35.620 to a rally
00:11:38.120 that they had organized
00:11:39.200 on campus
00:11:39.940 and having her
00:11:40.940 read a statement
00:11:42.620 that they had prepared
00:11:44.340 publicly.
00:11:45.420 And it's heart-wrenching
00:11:48.020 for me.
00:11:48.700 She read the statement
00:11:49.740 and she butchered it. 0.96
00:11:51.420 Reading out loud,
00:11:52.200 maybe in front of a group,
00:11:53.260 was not her,
00:11:54.660 in her skill set.
00:11:56.380 Based on false
00:11:57.640 racially charged
00:11:59.500 alleges...
00:12:00.860 Allegations.
00:12:03.460 They effectively
00:12:04.040 humiliated her
00:12:05.220 in order to demonstrate
00:12:06.780 that they had
00:12:08.980 recaptured her
00:12:10.320 in some way.
00:12:11.400 Whereas the college
00:12:12.740 administration
00:12:13.700 specified...
00:12:15.960 Sorry.
00:12:17.800 There are a lot of moments
00:12:18.600 that are
00:12:19.660 particularly telling
00:12:21.540 from the protest,
00:12:22.580 but I must say
00:12:23.120 that is among
00:12:24.560 the most chilling
00:12:25.560 to me.
00:12:27.460 Because, Adam,
00:12:28.400 if you don't go along
00:12:29.540 with the mob,
00:12:30.760 the mob will come
00:12:31.760 for you.
00:12:33.420 Well,
00:12:34.140 you're right, Megan.
00:12:35.520 That...
00:12:36.520 You were right
00:12:38.040 to kind of tune
00:12:38.980 into that little
00:12:39.860 flashpoint there
00:12:41.000 because
00:12:41.500 that is the scariest,
00:12:44.460 least American
00:12:45.700 part of this
00:12:47.320 whole moment
00:12:48.940 we're living in.
00:12:50.220 And I have...
00:12:51.560 It's not
00:12:53.240 that, you know,
00:12:55.020 Drew Brees
00:12:55.720 says,
00:12:57.680 I respect
00:12:59.220 Black Lives Matter,
00:13:00.640 but I stand
00:13:01.480 for the flag.
00:13:02.420 It's the part
00:13:03.340 where he has
00:13:04.700 to apologize.
00:13:06.720 The part...
00:13:08.040 And to me,
00:13:09.900 any...
00:13:10.340 Anybody
00:13:11.380 listening
00:13:12.560 who remembers
00:13:14.500 the Twilight Zone,
00:13:17.440 I always say
00:13:18.300 you're going to get
00:13:18.920 wished
00:13:19.400 into the cornfield.
00:13:20.640 so that
00:13:21.720 they had that
00:13:22.480 great episode
00:13:23.380 with that little kid
00:13:24.780 and he had that power
00:13:26.460 and he could just
00:13:27.620 wish you
00:13:28.220 into the cornfield
00:13:29.380 if you crossed him.
00:13:30.760 And all the adults
00:13:31.860 would gather around him
00:13:33.320 after he wished
00:13:34.740 someone into the cornfield
00:13:36.020 and go,
00:13:36.700 it's a real good thing
00:13:37.800 you did, Billy.
00:13:38.660 It's a real good thing.
00:13:40.080 Oh, you're a good boy.
00:13:41.060 And it's like,
00:13:41.840 yes,
00:13:42.200 or you'll be wished
00:13:43.180 into the cornfield.
00:13:44.280 All these corporations
00:13:45.720 apologizing.
00:13:47.460 That poor,
00:13:48.980 scared student
00:13:50.300 having to stand up there
00:13:51.600 and be humiliated
00:13:52.520 that way
00:13:53.060 or she was going 0.89
00:13:53.980 to get wished
00:13:54.660 into the cornfield.
00:13:56.340 Athletes,
00:13:57.580 politicians,
00:13:58.720 everyone has to apologize
00:14:00.280 or they're going
00:14:00.940 to get wished
00:14:02.040 into the cornfield.
00:14:03.620 And that's a scary...
00:14:05.200 That is a very scary point.
00:14:07.600 But it's not even
00:14:08.640 just to apologize.
00:14:09.840 It's that you now...
00:14:10.900 You must join.
00:14:12.000 You must be
00:14:12.520 an enthusiastic participant.
00:14:14.900 You know,
00:14:15.500 people have started
00:14:16.640 getting in trouble
00:14:17.720 for not tweeting out
00:14:19.600 Black Lives Matter.
00:14:20.960 Some of these controversies
00:14:22.060 we've seen
00:14:22.440 where somebody winds up
00:14:23.340 so-called canceled
00:14:24.180 is because they chose
00:14:25.500 to just not say anything.
00:14:27.300 And then the mob
00:14:29.020 turns on them.
00:14:29.880 Why haven't you tweeted it out?
00:14:31.360 It's like,
00:14:31.800 what business of yours
00:14:33.840 is that?
00:14:35.320 And to me,
00:14:36.840 a different movie reference,
00:14:38.200 it's like Mommy Dearest
00:14:39.940 where the mother,
00:14:42.680 Joan Crawford,
00:14:43.340 has gotten rid of
00:14:44.340 yet another man
00:14:45.040 in her life,
00:14:45.600 father figure
00:14:46.060 to the young daughter
00:14:46.940 who she's abusing 1.00
00:14:48.280 according to the daughter.
00:14:49.900 And the daughter says
00:14:51.340 in one scene,
00:14:52.240 if she doesn't like you,
00:14:54.280 she can make you disappear. 1.00
00:14:56.200 And it's like,
00:14:56.940 that's what everybody's
00:14:57.940 worried about
00:14:58.360 because they haven't
00:15:00.360 made anyone disappear.
00:15:01.620 But the mob has,
00:15:03.540 you know,
00:15:03.980 it's got a few notches
00:15:05.160 on its belt
00:15:05.920 in terms of taking
00:15:06.660 people's careers,
00:15:08.100 publicly humiliating them,
00:15:09.460 and even it's gone
00:15:10.620 so far now
00:15:11.300 as to get college
00:15:13.160 admissions
00:15:13.840 for young teens
00:15:15.520 who have screwed up
00:15:16.460 pulled
00:15:17.180 so their career,
00:15:19.320 their future academic career
00:15:20.480 at least,
00:15:21.060 is done
00:15:21.700 at age 17 or 18.
00:15:24.700 Yeah,
00:15:25.540 you're so right
00:15:26.700 getting back
00:15:28.060 to the way
00:15:29.620 these things
00:15:30.260 are handled.
00:15:33.320 And we could,
00:15:35.760 this stuff
00:15:36.660 could be sort of
00:15:37.560 nipped in the bud.
00:15:38.700 if,
00:15:39.720 you know,
00:15:40.240 those students
00:15:40.860 started surrounding
00:15:41.940 Brett Weinstein's
00:15:43.500 classroom,
00:15:45.180 if the powers that be,
00:15:46.980 if the adults,
00:15:48.000 and I'm holding my fingers
00:15:49.280 in air quotes,
00:15:50.400 if the adults
00:15:51.160 on that campus
00:15:52.020 had done their job
00:15:53.060 and said to those kids,
00:15:54.720 hey,
00:15:55.160 enough is enough.
00:15:56.080 You're out of here.
00:15:56.860 I'm calling the cops.
00:15:58.340 He's a professor.
00:15:59.420 You can't threaten him.
00:16:00.900 This thing,
00:16:01.640 these things
00:16:02.040 could be quelled.
00:16:03.360 The USC professor
00:16:05.140 who is doing some,
00:16:06.880 I don't know,
00:16:07.380 he was a language,
00:16:08.240 linguistics guy.
00:16:09.380 He was saying something
00:16:10.180 that sort of sounded
00:16:11.320 like the N-word,
00:16:12.220 but it was in Vietnamese
00:16:13.260 or something.
00:16:14.360 Right,
00:16:14.560 he was speaking
00:16:14.880 a foreign language.
00:16:16.200 Yeah,
00:16:16.360 he was speaking
00:16:16.620 a foreign language.
00:16:17.600 And the administration,
00:16:19.400 so somebody heard it
00:16:20.300 and someone was offended.
00:16:21.900 And the answer
00:16:22.660 to that
00:16:23.680 should have been,
00:16:24.840 sorry you were offended.
00:16:26.160 This is a different language.
00:16:27.540 There are many words
00:16:28.720 in many languages
00:16:29.720 and some of them
00:16:30.520 are going to sound
00:16:31.060 similar to some
00:16:31.960 of our words.
00:16:32.980 And some of them
00:16:33.580 are going to sound
00:16:34.120 similar to some words
00:16:35.100 you disagree with.
00:16:36.020 Anyway,
00:16:37.460 next,
00:16:38.360 moving on.
00:16:39.660 Right.
00:16:40.000 Instead,
00:16:40.860 they're saying to a guy
00:16:41.620 like,
00:16:41.880 I'm going to suspend you
00:16:42.760 for two weeks.
00:16:43.800 And we're like,
00:16:44.600 for what?
00:16:45.840 And all you're doing,
00:16:47.460 all these idiots, 0.98
00:16:48.680 and again,
00:16:49.320 I don't blame the students.
00:16:50.740 Everyone is dumb at 19.
00:16:52.380 They have bad parents.
00:16:53.680 Fine.
00:16:54.420 So be it.
00:16:55.820 The administration
00:16:56.840 and the faculty.
00:16:58.540 The administration
00:16:59.080 and the faculty
00:16:59.760 need to start telling
00:17:00.940 the 19-year-olds,
00:17:02.000 hey,
00:17:02.340 get over it.
00:17:03.260 Thicken up your skin.
00:17:04.160 It's a coincidence.
00:17:05.580 Moving on.
00:17:06.360 Stop looking for it.
00:17:08.040 If you find actual cases
00:17:09.780 of racism,
00:17:11.080 then come to me.
00:17:12.600 When you manufacture them,
00:17:14.560 don't come into my office
00:17:15.640 because I'm not going
00:17:16.300 to do anything.
00:17:17.540 It's a bunch of 19-year-olds
00:17:19.020 going into the dean's office
00:17:20.540 going,
00:17:21.280 for our demands.
00:17:22.180 And the dean going,
00:17:23.100 okay,
00:17:23.820 let me carry out those demands.
00:17:25.700 Yeah,
00:17:25.900 the deans are in the fetal position.
00:17:28.180 They're just begging
00:17:28.940 not to get flogged.
00:17:31.200 Right.
00:17:31.680 Because he was one
00:17:32.940 of those 19-year-olds
00:17:34.380 35 years ago
00:17:36.160 and this is the direction
00:17:37.660 he took.
00:17:39.120 But I worry
00:17:40.180 because I used to have
00:17:41.960 debates on the Kelly File
00:17:42.940 where somebody would talk
00:17:44.060 about what's happening
00:17:44.980 on a college campus
00:17:45.920 and how weak
00:17:47.460 the students were.
00:17:48.840 I mean,
00:17:49.060 I remember
00:17:49.560 there was a story
00:17:50.440 out of Columbia Law School
00:17:51.700 and it was after
00:17:53.160 the protests
00:17:54.140 in Ferguson, Missouri
00:17:55.280 over the Michael Brown case,
00:17:56.600 which of course
00:17:57.020 we now know
00:17:57.620 was based on a lie
00:17:58.640 of hands up,
00:17:59.620 don't shoot.
00:18:00.060 But the students
00:18:01.540 at the law school
00:18:02.580 wanted to have
00:18:04.240 their midterm exams
00:18:06.140 off
00:18:06.500 or their final exams
00:18:07.340 off.
00:18:08.180 They didn't want
00:18:08.540 to take them
00:18:09.120 because the argument
00:18:10.540 was they could not
00:18:12.080 function in the face
00:18:13.120 of a perceived injustice.
00:18:15.420 Law students.
00:18:16.720 I'm like,
00:18:17.460 do they have any idea
00:18:18.400 what lawyers do? 0.99
00:18:20.200 They're not going
00:18:20.920 to be very good lawyers
00:18:21.860 if that's the case.
00:18:23.380 But the school,
00:18:25.180 they catered to them.
00:18:26.820 And I remember
00:18:27.740 thinking the kids
00:18:30.220 who aren't
00:18:30.960 having that done
00:18:32.100 for them,
00:18:32.500 who are like
00:18:32.960 just going to have
00:18:33.440 to take the exams,
00:18:34.300 they're going to crush
00:18:34.860 these other kids.
00:18:36.020 When they meet
00:18:36.660 in the world,
00:18:37.460 the ones who have
00:18:38.320 been through adversity
00:18:39.280 have built up
00:18:40.620 some resilience
00:18:41.360 are going to crush
00:18:42.700 the safe spaces kids.
00:18:44.720 But it seems to me
00:18:46.800 like the safe spaces
00:18:48.180 kids are winning.
00:18:50.160 Like,
00:18:51.080 what's going to happen
00:18:52.200 instead is the people
00:18:53.460 who don't get offended
00:18:54.560 at every turn
00:18:55.300 and just know how to function
00:18:56.400 even if their feelings
00:18:57.680 get hurt
00:18:58.160 are going to be shamed
00:18:59.880 into submission
00:19:00.560 into joining
00:19:01.340 the woke crowd
00:19:02.160 because corporate America
00:19:03.460 now seems on board.
00:19:06.520 Well,
00:19:07.600 you know,
00:19:08.020 sadly,
00:19:08.840 corporate America
00:19:09.620 will go
00:19:10.420 any way
00:19:11.200 the wind is blowing.
00:19:12.760 They have no personality.
00:19:15.080 They're a path
00:19:16.660 of least resistance.
00:19:18.320 They're constantly
00:19:19.080 trying to
00:19:19.780 win a popularity contest.
00:19:22.380 They simply
00:19:23.460 care about money
00:19:25.220 and they
00:19:26.720 attempt to fool
00:19:28.480 society.
00:19:30.320 So,
00:19:31.380 at some point,
00:19:32.500 I'll give you an example
00:19:33.640 of corporate America.
00:19:35.460 At some point,
00:19:36.820 they started figuring out
00:19:38.320 that we were becoming
00:19:39.800 feelings-based.
00:19:41.720 And so,
00:19:42.360 when I grew up,
00:19:43.640 when you were younger,
00:19:45.140 you would watch,
00:19:45.940 you'd see a car commercial
00:19:47.120 or truck commercial
00:19:48.220 and the commercial
00:19:49.380 would advertise
00:19:50.200 how much torque
00:19:51.160 and horsepower,
00:19:52.500 gas mileage,
00:19:53.460 bumper-to-bumper,
00:19:54.920 100,000-mile warranty,
00:19:56.860 galvanized steel,
00:19:58.340 durability,
00:19:59.300 this truck is tough,
00:20:00.680 you know what I mean?
00:20:01.460 Now you see
00:20:02.340 a Subaru commercial.
00:20:03.960 Subarus are made 1.00
00:20:05.060 with love.
00:20:06.860 You'd see a Subaru,
00:20:08.820 you folks,
00:20:10.320 watch your next
00:20:11.120 Subaru commercial.
00:20:12.700 See if they even
00:20:13.660 discuss price,
00:20:15.640 mileage,
00:20:16.820 torque,
00:20:17.420 horsepower,
00:20:18.420 safety.
00:20:19.000 It's just a family.
00:20:20.660 They have their puppies
00:20:21.580 in the back.
00:20:22.340 They're going down
00:20:23.220 the open highway.
00:20:24.560 They're exploring life.
00:20:25.860 There's a guy
00:20:26.360 strumming a guitar
00:20:27.520 in the background.
00:20:29.100 But here's my example.
00:20:30.840 Subaru
00:20:31.260 is a giant
00:20:32.840 Japanese
00:20:34.160 multinational company
00:20:36.120 and
00:20:37.340 Subaru
00:20:38.160 makes
00:20:39.180 Subaru
00:20:40.040 foresters
00:20:41.000 and outbacks
00:20:41.840 and station wagons
00:20:43.340 with love,
00:20:44.620 but they also
00:20:45.280 make attack
00:20:46.100 helicopters
00:20:46.760 for the Japanese
00:20:47.800 army.
00:20:48.200 So do they
00:20:49.980 make those
00:20:50.580 with love?
00:20:51.740 Are they
00:20:52.500 a love-based
00:20:53.360 company?
00:20:54.240 Or are they
00:20:54.760 just spoon-feeding
00:20:55.840 this to a bunch
00:20:56.800 of dumb Americans
00:20:58.000 who've gotten
00:20:58.380 really soft?
00:21:00.040 So if you want
00:21:01.960 to know
00:21:02.260 where we're at,
00:21:03.700 see what
00:21:04.240 Madison Avenue
00:21:04.980 is putting out
00:21:06.260 and look at
00:21:07.100 the commercials
00:21:07.600 from the 60s
00:21:08.780 and the 70s
00:21:09.720 and the 80s.
00:21:10.740 Look at the
00:21:11.100 commercials now.
00:21:12.040 All good vibes.
00:21:13.460 It's just all
00:21:14.120 about what a
00:21:15.200 good-hearted
00:21:16.280 company.
00:21:17.420 And it really
00:21:17.860 doesn't matter.
00:21:18.800 It could be
00:21:19.220 McDonald's
00:21:19.980 or it could
00:21:20.420 be Subaru.
00:21:21.400 It's just
00:21:21.800 all good
00:21:22.880 vibes.
00:21:23.940 I remember,
00:21:25.200 I know a big
00:21:26.120 fundraiser here
00:21:26.900 in New York
00:21:27.320 for the Democrats
00:21:28.200 and this person
00:21:29.500 was telling me
00:21:30.040 that they had
00:21:30.700 interviewed all
00:21:31.500 of the top
00:21:32.760 candidates running
00:21:33.540 before the
00:21:34.860 party settled
00:21:35.520 on Joe Biden
00:21:36.180 and he had
00:21:37.460 one discussion
00:21:38.080 with Cory Booker
00:21:38.860 when he said,
00:21:39.520 you know,
00:21:39.640 what's your
00:21:39.860 approach going
00:21:40.280 to be?
00:21:40.620 Like,
00:21:40.800 what are you
00:21:41.400 going to argue?
00:21:42.480 And Booker
00:21:43.040 said,
00:21:43.380 you know,
00:21:43.620 it's all about
00:21:44.400 the love,
00:21:44.940 man.
00:21:45.420 It's like,
00:21:45.920 it's about
00:21:46.760 the love.
00:21:47.960 And this
00:21:48.280 fundraiser was
00:21:48.960 like,
00:21:49.920 no,
00:21:50.660 no,
00:21:51.160 it isn't
00:21:51.620 at all.
00:21:52.440 You've got
00:21:52.860 to get out
00:21:53.180 there and
00:21:53.480 fight.
00:21:54.020 What are you
00:21:54.340 saying?
00:21:54.880 You're not
00:21:55.240 running to be
00:21:55.720 the nation's
00:21:56.260 therapist.
00:21:57.160 You've got
00:21:57.680 to take
00:21:57.980 on Donald
00:21:58.460 Trump.
00:21:59.280 And that's
00:22:00.180 part of
00:22:00.500 what's
00:22:00.720 appealing
00:22:01.020 about Trump
00:22:01.880 is he's
00:22:02.320 a fighter.
00:22:03.040 I mean,
00:22:03.360 he'll fight
00:22:03.980 anybody,
00:22:05.260 anywhere,
00:22:05.900 over anything.
00:22:09.900 Well,
00:22:10.340 as you know,
00:22:10.880 identity theft
00:22:11.760 is bad.
00:22:12.940 It's everywhere.
00:22:13.660 But did you
00:22:14.240 know that
00:22:14.460 it's become
00:22:14.840 a big-time
00:22:15.660 crime with
00:22:16.840 criminal gangs
00:22:18.160 operating units
00:22:19.380 dedicated entirely
00:22:20.800 to it?
00:22:21.940 And certain
00:22:22.280 behavior can
00:22:22.820 make you more
00:22:23.360 vulnerable to
00:22:24.080 this thing.
00:22:24.660 Identity theft,
00:22:25.400 like not checking
00:22:26.360 your credit card
00:22:27.140 or your bank
00:22:27.600 statements.
00:22:29.580 I feel like
00:22:30.520 they're looking
00:22:30.820 at me.
00:22:31.660 Using the
00:22:32.160 same username
00:22:33.120 and password
00:22:33.660 on every account.
00:22:34.540 And you know,
00:22:34.820 you have like
00:22:35.240 40,000 accounts.
00:22:36.380 It's hard to keep
00:22:37.000 making up the new
00:22:37.660 passwords.
00:22:38.920 You never check
00:22:39.700 your credit report.
00:22:40.400 I mean,
00:22:40.800 seriously,
00:22:41.140 when was the
00:22:41.400 last time you
00:22:41.720 did that?
00:22:42.540 And oversharing
00:22:43.360 personal information
00:22:44.340 on social media.
00:22:46.100 Hmm.
00:22:47.160 That's an
00:22:47.580 interesting one,
00:22:48.380 right?
00:22:48.580 Like your
00:22:49.180 mother's maiden
00:22:49.660 name.
00:22:50.180 You shouldn't
00:22:50.460 be publishing
00:22:51.060 that.
00:22:51.920 But in any
00:22:52.260 event,
00:22:52.460 you do these
00:22:52.880 things without
00:22:53.260 thinking and
00:22:53.700 then you're
00:22:54.000 vulnerable.
00:22:55.120 You put your
00:22:55.860 information so
00:22:56.420 many places
00:22:56.800 online and
00:22:57.360 the sad truth
00:22:58.220 is that these
00:22:58.720 cyber criminals
00:22:59.380 around the
00:22:59.760 world keep
00:23:00.440 finding new
00:23:01.180 ways to steal
00:23:02.360 your identity.
00:23:03.920 Well,
00:23:04.120 Norton
00:23:04.360 LifeLock is
00:23:04.980 going to give
00:23:05.320 you more
00:23:05.660 protection than
00:23:06.560 ever before.
00:23:07.900 Norton
00:23:08.060 360 with
00:23:08.900 LifeLock provides
00:23:09.860 all-in-one
00:23:10.820 protection with
00:23:11.480 device security,
00:23:13.100 identity theft
00:23:13.940 protection, and
00:23:15.020 a VPN for
00:23:15.800 online privacy.
00:23:17.280 And if you
00:23:17.860 have an
00:23:18.540 identity theft
00:23:19.260 problem, a
00:23:20.500 U.S.-based
00:23:21.360 restoration
00:23:22.200 specialist will
00:23:23.200 work to fix
00:23:24.400 it so you'll
00:23:25.180 know who's
00:23:26.080 assigned to
00:23:26.420 your case and
00:23:27.280 how it's
00:23:27.700 going.
00:23:28.600 Now, look,
00:23:29.040 no one can
00:23:29.680 prevent all
00:23:30.340 cyber crime and
00:23:31.380 identity theft
00:23:32.180 or monitor all
00:23:32.940 transactions at
00:23:33.620 all businesses,
00:23:34.320 but Norton
00:23:35.020 360 with
00:23:35.660 LifeLock is a
00:23:36.380 powerful ally for
00:23:37.700 your cyber
00:23:38.260 security.

00:23:51.540 I want to
00:23:57.580 ask you, because
00:23:57.980 I thought, I
00:23:58.440 heard you make
00:23:59.100 a comparison
00:23:59.980 that I thought
00:24:00.320 was so
00:24:00.780 interesting, that
00:24:02.240 these woke
00:24:03.200 scolds, they're 1.00
00:24:05.440 like Scientologists.
00:24:08.140 Can you explain
00:24:08.640 that?
00:24:11.040 Yeah, it is
00:24:12.180 something I kind
00:24:13.820 of stumbled onto
00:24:14.840 just a few days
00:24:16.160 ago when I was
00:24:16.820 thinking about it
00:24:17.700 out loud, which
00:24:20.060 is the woke
00:24:22.180 scolds scare
00:24:24.160 everybody.
00:24:25.400 They really
00:24:26.360 do scare
00:24:27.040 people, and
00:24:27.580 there has
00:24:28.020 been enough
00:24:28.560 examples, as
00:24:29.780 you mentioned,
00:24:30.320 of people sort
00:24:31.020 of being removed
00:24:32.200 from their
00:24:33.320 livelihood.
00:24:34.480 So people
00:24:34.940 are duly
00:24:36.420 scared of
00:24:37.400 them, but
00:24:38.380 they don't
00:24:39.440 have as much
00:24:40.460 power as
00:24:41.440 people think,
00:24:42.860 and in some
00:24:43.740 cases, no
00:24:44.600 power.
00:24:45.560 And they
00:24:45.940 certainly couldn't
00:24:46.800 do anything if
00:24:47.960 everyone just
00:24:48.740 started speaking
00:24:49.640 their mind
00:24:50.460 Monday morning
00:24:51.640 at 9 a.m.
00:24:53.040 They couldn't
00:24:54.080 deplatform enough
00:24:55.200 people, they
00:24:55.840 couldn't remove
00:24:57.200 enough people from 1.00
00:24:58.060 their livelihood.
00:25:00.140 So, Scientology.
00:25:02.920 Now, we all
00:25:03.540 look at
00:25:04.000 Scientology now,
00:25:05.300 and we think,
00:25:05.920 oh, God, what a
00:25:06.960 joke, or they're
00:25:07.640 on the run, or
00:25:08.480 you know, there's
00:25:10.620 all this stuff.
00:25:11.520 The cat's out of
00:25:12.360 the bag with
00:25:12.760 Scientology.
00:25:13.340 When I started
00:25:15.200 my radio
00:25:16.460 career in
00:25:17.960 the mid
00:25:18.940 to late
00:25:19.680 90s, I
00:25:21.500 made some
00:25:22.260 jokes about
00:25:22.980 Scientology, I
00:25:24.140 called it a
00:25:24.720 cult, blah,
00:25:25.440 blah, blah.
00:25:27.380 Scientology
00:25:28.020 sent a long
00:25:29.560 letter basically
00:25:31.040 explaining what
00:25:32.020 I had to do
00:25:33.020 to apologize
00:25:34.280 to them.
00:25:35.060 They even gave
00:25:35.580 me a script
00:25:36.480 to read on
00:25:38.020 the air.
00:25:39.180 And then we
00:25:40.300 had a decision
00:25:41.100 to make.
00:25:41.660 Do we
00:25:42.560 apologize to
00:25:43.620 Scientology, or
00:25:45.440 do we say
00:25:46.900 something about
00:25:47.680 Scientology sending
00:25:48.880 me this prepared
00:25:49.760 statement?
00:25:51.660 Everybody who
00:25:53.640 I knew, I was
00:25:54.620 living in
00:25:55.220 Hollywood at
00:25:56.200 the time.
00:25:57.180 The Hollywood
00:25:57.700 Celebrity Center
00:25:58.920 for Scientology
00:25:59.820 was literally
00:26:00.480 down the street
00:26:01.380 from where I
00:26:01.900 lived.
00:26:03.160 And everyone
00:26:03.720 said, don't
00:26:05.140 cross Scientology
00:26:06.860 that will destroy
00:26:07.720 your life.
00:26:08.900 That will ruin
00:26:09.480 your life.
00:26:09.980 And I
00:26:11.320 thought, really?
00:26:12.500 And everyone
00:26:13.120 I spoke to
00:26:14.460 said, Scientology
00:26:15.660 will ruin your
00:26:16.700 life.
00:26:17.260 No, that's not
00:26:17.740 good.
00:26:18.840 Yeah, just
00:26:19.620 literally just
00:26:20.900 apologize to
00:26:21.820 them and get
00:26:22.480 on with your
00:26:22.980 life.
00:26:23.820 And I thought
00:26:24.420 about it and I
00:26:25.120 went, yeah, but
00:26:25.820 they're such
00:26:26.420 idiots.
00:26:27.020 And I thought,
00:26:28.060 screw it.
00:26:28.980 And I went on
00:26:29.780 the air that
00:26:30.500 night and I
00:26:31.320 took their
00:26:31.880 script and I
00:26:34.180 started making
00:26:34.840 fun of it and
00:26:35.780 I said they sent
00:26:36.820 me a script and
00:26:37.580 they expected me
00:26:38.260 to read it where
00:26:38.880 they could screw
00:26:39.580 themselves.
00:26:40.400 I'm not going
00:26:41.080 to do it and
00:26:41.980 blah, blah, blah.
00:26:42.960 And then for the
00:26:43.560 next week, I
00:26:44.540 worried because
00:26:45.560 everyone said
00:26:46.100 these guys are
00:26:46.620 going to camp
00:26:47.060 outside your
00:26:47.620 house, they're
00:26:48.180 going to go
00:26:48.760 through your
00:26:49.080 garbage can and
00:26:50.360 nothing happened.
00:26:52.140 And but that's
00:26:53.600 the way 25 years
00:26:55.100 ago, people were
00:26:55.920 scared to death of
00:26:57.400 Scientology.
00:26:58.120 But here's what
00:26:58.680 happened.
00:26:59.740 Leah Remini and
00:27:01.180 Adam Carolla and
00:27:02.380 whomever, everyone
00:27:03.560 just sort of came
00:27:04.420 out.
00:27:05.360 And when we all
00:27:05.940 came out and I
00:27:07.460 wasn't in
00:27:08.120 Scientology, but
00:27:08.980 what I'm saying
00:27:09.380 is everyone
00:27:10.000 just stood
00:27:10.960 their ground,
00:27:11.760 didn't apologize
00:27:12.580 and basically
00:27:15.420 stuck by their
00:27:16.400 guns.
00:27:17.160 And it turned
00:27:17.560 out Scientology
00:27:18.460 had no power.
00:27:20.260 They couldn't
00:27:20.740 do anything.
00:27:22.000 And it's the
00:27:22.920 same with the
00:27:23.460 woke skulls.
00:27:24.400 They had no
00:27:25.160 power.
00:27:25.740 They can't do
00:27:26.500 anything.
00:27:27.280 Stop apologizing.
00:27:28.580 Just stand up,
00:27:29.680 stay your ground,
00:27:30.640 and they'll go
00:27:31.120 away.
00:27:31.460 Just like whatever
00:27:32.380 happened to
00:27:32.940 Scientology will
00:27:34.220 happen to this
00:27:35.000 movement if people
00:27:36.080 just stand up.
00:27:36.940 Well, maybe.
00:27:38.120 Right?
00:27:38.320 It depends on how
00:27:39.060 it's coming at
00:27:39.740 you.
00:27:40.040 Because if it's
00:27:40.500 your employer
00:27:41.080 saying it's
00:27:42.200 your job, or
00:27:43.620 you get out there
00:27:44.620 and apologize, or
00:27:45.400 you're fired, most
00:27:46.800 people don't have
00:27:47.340 the economic
00:27:47.920 independence.
00:27:48.500 And even those
00:27:49.440 who have economic
00:27:50.100 independence who
00:27:50.800 don't want to
00:27:51.080 lose their jobs
00:27:51.860 will make a
00:27:52.860 different choice.
00:27:53.780 It's going to
00:27:54.500 take more.
00:27:55.460 It's going to
00:27:55.840 take a societal
00:27:57.240 recoiling from
00:27:58.880 what they're doing.
00:27:59.540 I'm with you.
00:28:00.540 I'm saying, here's
00:28:02.480 what we can't
00:28:04.480 do.
00:28:05.520 If, in fact, we
00:28:07.380 do it one at a
00:28:08.820 time.
00:28:09.820 So, if, you
00:28:11.880 know, if the
00:28:13.580 German soldier is
00:28:14.800 holding the
00:28:15.340 machine gun, and
00:28:16.520 we're all on the
00:28:18.600 other side of the
00:28:19.460 yard, and we
00:28:21.200 charge that guy
00:28:22.800 one person at a
00:28:24.240 time, then we'll
00:28:25.140 all be picked
00:28:25.920 off.
00:28:26.340 If we all go
00:28:27.520 simultaneously, we'll
00:28:29.640 get to the guy and
00:28:30.960 take his gun away.
00:28:32.480 Few people are
00:28:33.280 going to drop on
00:28:34.180 the way.
00:28:34.760 What I'm saying is
00:28:35.740 everyone needs to
00:28:36.940 just stand up
00:28:38.000 simultaneously and
00:28:39.900 say enough is
00:28:40.640 enough.
00:28:41.120 You do it one at
00:28:41.940 a time, everyone
00:28:43.020 just gets picked
00:28:43.720 off.
00:28:44.240 Yeah, that's
00:28:45.020 right.
00:28:45.400 And we're still
00:28:46.160 sort of in that
00:28:46.800 stage where people
00:28:47.640 don't feel
00:28:48.700 empowered, although
00:28:49.440 I do feel somewhat
00:28:50.740 of a shift.
00:28:51.360 I think people are
00:28:51.940 getting sick of
00:28:53.280 this.
00:28:53.680 I mean, they're
00:28:53.900 just getting sick
00:28:54.740 of being lectured
00:28:55.540 to by, as
00:28:56.320 Bill Maher
00:28:56.760 always says, who
00:28:57.580 are these perfect
00:28:58.300 people?
00:28:58.880 I think that's
00:28:59.360 exactly right.
00:29:00.680 Like, you know,
00:29:01.660 they've got
00:29:02.240 skeletons in their
00:29:02.960 closets.
00:29:03.700 They've got
00:29:04.020 mistakes that
00:29:04.680 they've made or
00:29:05.300 that are coming
00:29:05.820 their way for
00:29:07.080 which they're
00:29:07.480 going to need
00:29:07.900 forgiveness because
00:29:08.760 they're human.
00:29:11.180 And to sit in
00:29:12.720 judgment, even
00:29:13.380 Barack Obama has
00:29:14.200 criticized it with
00:29:15.020 their little thumbs
00:29:15.880 on their phones
00:29:17.160 thinking that's
00:29:18.320 activism.
00:29:19.300 They're in for a
00:29:20.160 rude awakening.
00:29:20.980 And none of
00:29:21.880 those people, none
00:29:22.960 of those people
00:29:23.520 will wind up having
00:29:24.640 a successful
00:29:25.500 corporate career.
00:29:27.380 You just, you
00:29:27.740 have to have
00:29:28.320 thicker skin and
00:29:29.580 be a more
00:29:30.200 principled person
00:29:31.780 than that.
00:29:33.500 All right, I
00:29:34.040 got to ask you a
00:29:34.600 question now because
00:29:35.720 I didn't know, I
00:29:36.680 knew a lot about
00:29:37.180 you, but I
00:29:37.600 didn't know that
00:29:38.080 you were, you
00:29:39.060 were like the
00:29:39.560 carnac of political
00:29:41.380 commentary because I
00:29:42.600 read in preparing
00:29:43.500 for this that in
00:29:44.080 2008 you predicted
00:29:45.220 Donald Trump was
00:29:45.980 going to be
00:29:46.320 president.
00:29:47.480 2008 you predicted
00:29:49.240 he was going to be
00:29:49.840 president and it
00:29:50.420 wasn't a joke.
00:29:51.100 You were serious.
00:29:52.760 So I have to ask
00:29:54.980 you, what's your
00:29:55.540 prediction this time
00:29:56.920 around?
00:29:57.260 Is he going to
00:29:57.940 remain president?
00:30:00.240 Yeah, I called in
00:30:01.700 2008, I said he was
00:30:03.480 going to be president
00:30:04.440 in 2016, which is a
00:30:07.980 little, even a little
00:30:09.260 more accurate than
00:30:10.240 just president in
00:30:11.160 general.
00:30:11.740 So I don't know, I'll
00:30:13.200 call that dumb luck.
00:30:16.000 Here's what I think
00:30:17.200 and you're, you're
00:30:18.380 uniquely qualified to
00:30:20.620 ruminate on this.
00:30:23.400 So I'm definitely
00:30:24.240 interested in what
00:30:25.140 your thoughts are.
00:30:27.120 We learned in the
00:30:29.080 last election that
00:30:31.120 celebrity and
00:30:32.700 celebrity endorsements
00:30:34.180 really didn't help
00:30:36.120 or hold any power,
00:30:37.600 right?
00:30:38.560 Like we always were
00:30:40.200 kind of, again, in a
00:30:42.080 way, it's kind of like
00:30:42.980 Scientology.
00:30:44.000 It's kind of like the
00:30:44.760 woke skull.
00:30:45.420 Like we always just
00:30:46.020 thought, well, once you
00:30:47.060 get Beyonce on your
00:30:49.440 side and Oprah, then
00:30:51.560 you're going to win,
00:30:52.280 you know, George
00:30:52.860 Clooney, you're going
00:30:53.720 to win, right?
00:30:54.400 Like we get these
00:30:55.080 celebrities behind you
00:30:56.040 at Robert De Niro.
00:30:58.060 It turned out they
00:31:00.560 don't really hold any
00:31:01.980 weight and in a weird
00:31:03.600 way, maybe when half
00:31:05.140 the country finds out
00:31:06.200 Robert De Niro is for
00:31:07.300 something, they're
00:31:07.960 against it now, right?
00:31:09.240 So my take on the
00:31:11.460 last election was a
00:31:13.360 kind of a referendum
00:31:14.300 on celebrity.
00:31:15.860 This election, we're
00:31:19.060 going to find out if
00:31:21.340 an endorsement
00:31:22.420 essentially from CNN
00:31:25.100 and MSNBC and the 0.99
00:31:28.020 New York Times and the
00:31:29.780 Los Angeles Times, we're
00:31:31.320 going to find out if
00:31:32.300 that moves the needle. 0.98
00:31:34.700 I mean, obviously, it
00:31:36.620 has more effect than a
00:31:38.220 celebrity endorsement,
00:31:39.380 but what I'm starting to
00:31:41.320 feel, and again, I'm
00:31:42.740 interested in your take
00:31:43.700 on this, is they are
00:31:46.200 starting to lose some
00:31:47.540 of their power.
00:31:49.300 And we'll find out if
00:31:51.300 essentially being, if,
00:31:54.040 you know, 18 or 19 out
00:31:56.820 of the 20 major news
00:31:58.440 outlets being all in for
00:32:00.540 Biden is going to be
00:32:02.860 enough to win it for
00:32:05.020 Biden.
00:32:05.360 Now, obviously, 20 years
00:32:06.780 ago, you would have won
00:32:08.040 in a landslide if that's
00:32:09.400 how it worked.
00:32:09.960 But now people are
00:32:11.260 getting their information
00:32:12.280 from different places.
00:32:13.260 They have less and less
00:32:14.540 faith in the CNNs of the
00:32:19.060 world.
00:32:19.700 And maybe, and I'll tell
00:32:21.880 you, if Trump wins this
00:32:25.520 election, it is the worst.
00:32:29.320 It's a referendum on CNN
00:32:31.180 more than it is on Biden.
00:32:33.660 Yeah, well, I have a couple
00:32:36.080 of thoughts on that.
00:32:36.840 I think, first of all, the
00:32:38.580 reason that celebrities' 0.81
00:32:39.780 influence over the
00:32:40.980 electorate has gone so far
00:32:42.320 down is because they've
00:32:43.300 shown their cards.
00:32:44.720 They've shown that they
00:32:46.500 can't stand half of the
00:32:48.580 country.
00:32:49.280 They think, as Hillary
00:32:50.240 said, they're deplorable.
00:32:52.300 And it just, their
00:32:53.040 contempt is oozing out of
00:32:54.620 them.
00:32:55.380 And so I think middle
00:32:56.360 America, having watched
00:32:57.720 enough television and
00:32:58.520 seen enough movies and
00:32:59.800 watched enough interviews,
00:33:00.960 has given them a
00:33:02.060 collective middle finger.
00:33:02.940 You know, like, we
00:33:04.260 don't need you, Ben
00:33:05.260 Affleck, who won't even
00:33:06.300 act in a movie with
00:33:07.340 somebody who self
00:33:08.000 identifies as a
00:33:08.820 Republican, right?
00:33:09.980 Like, we don't have to
00:33:11.360 watch your stupid movie. 0.90
00:33:12.800 And we couldn't care less
00:33:13.980 if you come out and
00:33:15.040 endorse the Democrat
00:33:16.160 because we're not
00:33:17.340 surprised and we don't
00:33:18.240 really care what you
00:33:19.240 think.
00:33:19.480 You don't understand us.
00:33:21.300 I used to say, though,
00:33:22.860 the last thing, if the
00:33:24.360 Democrats learn nothing,
00:33:25.460 they should learn to
00:33:26.320 never put Lena Dunham at
00:33:27.680 a campaign event again,
00:33:29.280 ever.
00:33:30.020 She is.
00:33:30.660 She was so alienating and
00:33:32.560 polarizing last time and
00:33:34.500 who in their right minds
00:33:36.600 thinks that Lena Dunham
00:33:38.940 is going to help
00:33:39.980 generate votes either
00:33:42.140 within the Democratic
00:33:42.800 Party or outside.
00:33:44.840 Listen, I live in this
00:33:46.060 town and this town is so
00:33:49.680 insular and isolated that
00:33:53.220 like Lena Dunham would do 0.99
00:33:56.380 her HBO show Girls and it
00:33:59.160 probably got three or four
00:34:00.120 hundred thousand views
00:34:01.220 every every Sunday.
00:34:03.180 And my friend works on
00:34:05.040 Tim Allen's show, Last
00:34:06.340 Man Standing.
00:34:07.240 He's a showrunner and
00:34:09.500 they get eight million
00:34:10.560 people and all this town
00:34:12.420 every week.
00:34:13.240 And all this town would do
00:34:14.200 is talk about Lena Dunham's
00:34:15.580 show.
00:34:16.200 You know, they think this
00:34:17.660 town is the entire nation.
00:34:20.000 And that's why they're
00:34:21.200 always confused.
00:34:22.160 They're like, I don't know
00:34:24.020 one person who would vote
00:34:25.900 for Trump and I don't know
00:34:26.980 one person who drives a
00:34:28.140 pickup truck or owns a gun.
00:34:30.400 Like, can I tell you, I
00:34:32.120 saw to your point, I saw
00:34:34.220 Barbra Streisand at an
00:34:35.540 event not long after Trump
00:34:37.660 won and she was very kind,
00:34:39.900 very gracious, but she
00:34:41.300 pulled me aside to talk
00:34:42.300 politics for a minute.
00:34:43.280 And, you know, she's a
00:34:43.920 she's a committed
00:34:44.420 progressive and she wanted
00:34:46.360 me to help her understand
00:34:47.760 how Trump won.
00:34:48.680 And her biggest question to
00:34:50.700 me was she was baffled by
00:34:52.380 the coal miners voting for 0.87
00:34:55.260 Trump.
00:34:55.580 She's like the coal miners. 1.00
00:34:57.400 How did the coal miners vote
00:34:58.880 for Trump?
00:35:00.060 I'm like, you've got to be
00:35:01.600 kidding me, right?
00:35:02.540 Like Hillary Clinton
00:35:04.080 expressly said she wanted
00:35:06.240 to kill coal.
00:35:07.300 Like, who would you vote
00:35:08.920 for if you were a coal
00:35:10.660 miner?
00:35:10.940 But that's how out of touch
00:35:12.640 she was on that issue.
00:35:14.660 And I think a lot of the
00:35:15.520 people on the coast and we
00:35:16.360 see it, you know, I don't
00:35:17.400 spend a lot of time with
00:35:18.120 celebrities, but I see it at
00:35:19.220 the the Emmys and the
00:35:21.100 Oscars and, you know, all
00:35:22.960 the lecturing they do.
00:35:24.300 And it's the same people who
00:35:25.420 were supporting Harvey
00:35:26.240 Weinstein, who was sexually
00:35:27.660 assaulting half of Hollywood.
00:35:29.160 So they've lost their
00:35:30.220 credibility.
00:35:30.660 And the same thing has
00:35:32.740 happened to the media
00:35:33.560 because, you know, when I
00:35:35.000 was on Fox, which
00:35:36.320 obviously leans right and
00:35:37.760 is sort of I think it's they 0.97
00:35:38.860 see themselves as the
00:35:39.800 antidote to the
00:35:41.520 the left wing bias that we
00:35:43.040 see in all the other
00:35:43.920 media.
00:35:44.280 I think the audience is
00:35:46.580 aware of that.
00:35:47.360 But I used to watch a lot
00:35:48.900 of CNN when I was getting
00:35:50.160 ready for the Kelly file.
00:35:51.140 I'd watch CNN because they
00:35:53.400 used to report the news
00:35:54.440 straight down the middle.
00:35:55.620 So I thought, all right, it's
00:35:57.060 boring, but at least I'm
00:35:58.300 getting facts.
00:35:59.660 And I can't I can't watch
00:36:01.540 CNN now at all.
00:36:02.740 It's it's total propaganda
00:36:04.720 for the left.
00:36:05.640 And it is it should be
00:36:07.400 called TDS.
00:36:08.980 Right.
00:36:09.400 Trump derangement syndrome
00:36:10.360 network.
00:36:10.820 And forget MSNBC, but I
00:36:12.700 will say at least they're
00:36:14.280 they're a little bit more
00:36:15.140 honest about their agenda.
00:36:17.460 CNN still trying to pan
00:36:18.680 itself off as like an
00:36:19.720 open minded, independent
00:36:21.280 down the middle news
00:36:22.140 network.
00:36:22.400 And it's too late.
00:36:24.400 They've they've been
00:36:25.180 exposed via virtue
00:36:26.620 signaling, the refusal to
00:36:28.580 acknowledge their many
00:36:29.780 reporting mistakes.
00:36:31.400 People know.
00:36:33.160 And now even media is
00:36:34.960 completely tribal, which
00:36:37.100 is why I hope and believe
00:36:38.200 that, you know, sort of
00:36:39.220 stepping out of the
00:36:40.640 traditional media is the
00:36:42.560 future.
00:36:45.220 And you made me think
00:36:48.760 of a thought that I had
00:36:50.140 recently, which is
00:36:51.840 where I think we're almost
00:36:54.720 there.
00:36:56.060 What I'm saying is, is
00:36:57.480 I've always had this
00:36:59.000 feeling that people
00:37:01.180 who watch Fox
00:37:02.920 know they're watching
00:37:04.480 Fox and people
00:37:06.580 who watch CNN
00:37:07.780 think they're watching
00:37:09.560 the news and
00:37:11.340 that's the
00:37:12.400 disconnect.
00:37:13.980 So when you talk to
00:37:15.420 people that watch CNN,
00:37:16.960 they go, here's what's
00:37:18.480 happening.
00:37:19.060 You know, Trump has
00:37:19.860 interfered with the
00:37:20.760 Russians and colluded 0.75
00:37:21.760 with the agents,
00:37:22.600 whatever.
00:37:23.020 And then you go watch
00:37:24.520 Tucker Carlson and
00:37:25.600 he'll go, what?
00:37:26.280 That's Fox.
00:37:27.060 Of course, they're in the
00:37:28.140 bag for Trump.
00:37:28.900 But it's like, yeah,
00:37:30.480 you don't know that's
00:37:31.240 what's going on on
00:37:32.020 CNN.
00:37:32.360 And a lot of it is
00:37:34.780 literally just because
00:37:36.180 it's in every airport.
00:37:38.280 You know, it's just up
00:37:38.900 on the monitor behind
00:37:39.960 the bar at the airport.
00:37:41.500 It's forced that to.
00:37:42.240 And you know what they
00:37:43.300 would say?
00:37:44.640 I think if you put Fox
00:37:48.160 up at every airport
00:37:50.060 and somebody said,
00:37:51.860 what's playing behind
00:37:52.640 the bar, they'd go
00:37:54.020 Fox.
00:37:55.220 And if you put CNN
00:37:56.400 up and you said to
00:37:58.080 someone, what's playing
00:37:58.900 behind the bar, they'd
00:37:59.740 go the news.
00:38:00.400 So, but we're slowly
00:38:04.020 just getting to that
00:38:06.020 point where people are
00:38:07.240 realizing that CNN
00:38:08.460 really isn't the news.
00:38:10.200 And my question is,
00:38:12.960 have we, has a large
00:38:15.180 enough group of
00:38:16.860 American voters
00:38:18.040 realize that they're
00:38:19.880 not watching the news
00:38:21.360 yet when they're
00:38:22.220 watching CNN?
00:38:23.740 And that's what we're
00:38:25.060 going to find out in
00:38:26.360 this upcoming election.
00:38:28.240 Well, and all of this
00:38:28.820 is what leads to the
00:38:30.140 secret Trump voter,
00:38:31.140 right?
00:38:31.340 The shy Trump voter,
00:38:32.660 because all of the,
00:38:34.400 you know, mainstream
00:38:35.420 respectable outlets are
00:38:37.420 telling you you're a bad
00:38:38.440 person if you vote for
00:38:39.680 him.
00:38:39.840 And in fact, if you say
00:38:40.820 it in polite circles,
00:38:41.860 you're going to be
00:38:42.540 called a racist.
00:38:44.300 I mean, that's what
00:38:45.180 people say explicitly.
00:38:46.720 Anyone who supports
00:38:47.780 Trump is a racist.
00:38:49.820 Notwithstanding if,
00:38:50.660 let's say, you know,
00:38:51.600 abortion is your main 0.99
00:38:52.560 issue and you have a
00:38:54.040 deep seated religious
00:38:55.220 belief that abortion
00:38:56.280 is murder and you 0.98
00:38:57.560 could never vote for a
00:38:58.620 president who is going
00:38:59.760 to do anything other
00:39:00.520 than try to crack down
00:39:01.560 on abortion.
00:39:03.040 So how does that make
00:39:04.280 you a racist?
00:39:05.840 Right?
00:39:06.680 That isn't thought
00:39:07.780 through.
00:39:08.260 It's just the labeling
00:39:09.760 to try to demonize and
00:39:11.140 truly try to silence.
00:39:13.180 And maybe they have
00:39:13.900 silenced them when the
00:39:14.760 pollsters call.
00:39:16.060 But the big question in
00:39:16.940 this election is how
00:39:18.820 many of those shy and
00:39:20.140 silent Trump voters will
00:39:21.580 actually go into those
00:39:22.360 polling booths and
00:39:23.360 surprise people again?
00:39:25.360 Can you imagine?
00:39:26.380 I always just think of
00:39:27.820 everything as sort of
00:39:29.860 from the, I look at
00:39:32.400 everything sort of
00:39:33.120 through the lens of
00:39:34.300 somebody who make, who
00:39:38.080 comments on things and
00:39:40.060 tries to put together
00:39:41.000 sort of thoughtful
00:39:41.900 opposition to things or
00:39:44.760 notions that maybe
00:39:46.780 people hadn't thought
00:39:47.940 of before.
00:39:49.440 And I look at everything
00:39:50.680 through that lens.
00:39:51.920 Like my job is to speak
00:39:53.880 about things and make
00:39:55.660 people go like, no,
00:39:56.700 that's funny.
00:39:57.500 Or, no, I never
00:39:58.500 thought of it that way.
00:39:59.620 Like sort of the woke
00:40:01.300 scolds is to
00:40:03.020 Scientology kind of
00:40:04.980 things.
00:40:05.360 Like I'm trying to
00:40:06.000 connect things.
00:40:07.400 Calling everyone you
00:40:08.480 disagree with racist
00:40:11.040 is the most
00:40:13.280 intellectual lazy.
00:40:15.320 How lazy intellectually
00:40:17.080 are you?
00:40:17.840 If you go, hey,
00:40:18.500 disagree with me?
00:40:19.960 Racist.
00:40:20.480 Like what, what
00:40:22.840 business are you in?
00:40:24.500 And, you know, my
00:40:25.160 favorite story, Dave
00:40:27.900 Rubin, a guy you
00:40:30.380 know and I know and I
00:40:32.160 enjoy on many
00:40:33.840 different levels.
00:40:35.200 I, he, he always
00:40:36.340 said something I
00:40:37.120 repeat over and over
00:40:38.220 again because it's
00:40:38.920 always, I've always
00:40:39.720 thought of it, which
00:40:40.560 is he, he just said
00:40:42.740 when he worked at
00:40:44.240 Young Turks before he 0.91
00:40:46.260 sort of got turned
00:40:47.760 around, he thought
00:40:48.700 how, how could it
00:40:50.800 be that everyone
00:40:52.080 who disagrees with
00:40:53.060 us is a racist?
00:40:55.040 How could that
00:40:55.940 mathematically be
00:40:57.260 possible?
00:40:58.060 Everyone who
00:40:58.580 disagrees with us is
00:40:59.480 a racist?
00:41:00.720 It's the laziest
00:41:01.900 endeavor intellectually
00:41:03.580 ever.
00:41:04.840 Well, it's, it's
00:41:05.580 self-defeating
00:41:06.240 because
00:41:06.660 it's self-defeating
00:41:09.580 because the
00:41:10.880 overuse of the word
00:41:11.640 has completely
00:41:12.200 diluted it and
00:41:13.160 changed its effect.
00:41:14.500 It used to be if you
00:41:15.380 leveled that charge at
00:41:16.420 someone, it was
00:41:17.120 serious and it was
00:41:18.400 devastating.
00:41:19.840 And now I went to
00:41:22.100 a dinner last
00:41:23.920 summer with a
00:41:25.100 group of very
00:41:26.120 well-known
00:41:26.760 Republicans who
00:41:27.660 had served in
00:41:28.500 office at high
00:41:30.060 levels.
00:41:30.860 I was on the
00:41:31.700 Jersey shore, so
00:41:32.440 there's still
00:41:32.880 Republicans there.
00:41:33.920 I wasn't in the
00:41:34.400 Hamptons.
00:41:35.160 And that somebody
00:41:37.300 asked the question,
00:41:38.420 like go around the
00:41:39.240 table, who here
00:41:40.740 has been called a
00:41:41.800 racist?
00:41:42.540 And virtually every
00:41:43.800 hand went up.
00:41:44.740 And it's not
00:41:45.480 because everyone
00:41:46.320 sitting there was
00:41:47.100 a racist.
00:41:47.760 It's because
00:41:48.120 everyone sitting
00:41:48.800 there was a
00:41:49.520 Republican.
00:41:50.660 They're used to
00:41:51.620 having charges like
00:41:52.600 that leveled against
00:41:53.520 them because it
00:41:55.520 has for so many
00:41:56.460 years been such an
00:41:57.260 effective silencer,
00:41:58.440 but not, not
00:42:00.000 anymore.
00:42:00.660 It's so ubiquitous.
00:42:02.180 It's lost some of
00:42:03.240 its power.
00:42:05.240 Have you ever had to
00:42:06.440 hire somebody?
00:42:07.500 It isn't easy.
00:42:08.960 You don't want to
00:42:09.500 make the wrong
00:42:09.940 choice.
00:42:10.620 You don't want to
00:42:11.000 spend hours and
00:42:11.740 hours searching
00:42:12.740 through resumes.
00:42:13.620 And a lot of
00:42:15.260 times you just
00:42:15.660 don't have
00:42:15.920 confidence that
00:42:16.560 you have the
00:42:16.900 ability to sort
00:42:17.800 of recognize
00:42:18.460 who's really
00:42:19.580 good and who's
00:42:20.080 not as you
00:42:20.680 look at that
00:42:21.040 stack of paper
00:42:21.760 that gets
00:42:22.340 submitted to
00:42:22.840 you.

00:43:15.440 Like I would
00:43:15.940 ask, are you
00:43:17.680 expecting somebody

00:43:19.540 Do you expect
00:43:20.620 five compliments

00:43:24.400 Because I don't

00:43:54.340 slash MK.
00:43:55.820 Zip Recruiter.
00:43:56.980 The smartest way
00:43:57.780 to hire.
00:44:00.660 And now for a new
00:44:01.660 feature on the
00:44:02.320 Megyn Kelly Show.
00:44:03.220 We're calling it
00:44:03.900 Devil May Care
00:44:04.780 All Stars.
00:44:06.060 Devil May Care is
00:44:06.700 the name of my
00:44:07.320 production company.
00:44:08.800 And it's an
00:44:09.400 attitude, basically.
00:44:10.660 The full saying is
00:44:11.420 the devil may care,
00:44:12.420 but I do not.
00:44:14.000 And honestly,
00:44:14.480 to survive in
00:44:15.180 today's day and age,
00:44:15.920 you have to have
00:44:16.440 that attitude or
00:44:17.240 you will be
00:44:18.040 scolded at 1.00
00:44:19.400 every turn
00:44:20.280 of your life.
00:44:21.160 Whatever you're
00:44:21.640 doing, it's wrong.
00:44:22.340 Everything you're
00:44:22.720 thinking and doing
00:44:23.300 is wrong.
00:44:23.760 Just know that,
00:44:24.420 okay?
00:44:24.640 Even if you're
00:44:25.140 woke, there's no
00:44:25.980 amount of wokeness
00:44:26.580 that's okay for
00:44:27.520 the woke.
00:44:28.060 You gotta get
00:44:28.520 even woker.
00:44:30.500 But people are
00:44:31.300 starting to push
00:44:31.880 back against this
00:44:32.640 nonsense so that
00:44:33.320 we can live our
00:44:33.800 lives and be a
00:44:34.940 little bit more
00:44:35.260 generous with one
00:44:35.940 another.
00:44:36.220 And just to stand
00:44:37.920 up to the
00:44:38.340 constant scolding 0.78
00:44:39.420 and guilting.
00:44:40.700 And there are
00:44:41.020 others like us
00:44:42.480 out there with
00:44:43.560 that devil may
00:44:44.200 care attitude.
00:44:44.800 And we are
00:44:45.840 choosing to
00:44:46.360 highlight them
00:44:46.980 here in this
00:44:47.560 segment.
00:44:48.300 All right,
00:44:48.460 today we're
00:44:49.100 going to talk
00:44:49.420 about Professor
00:44:50.020 Mark Crispin
00:44:51.160 Miller.
00:44:52.060 He's at NYU.
00:44:53.300 Yes, I said
00:44:53.760 NYU.
00:44:54.860 That liberal
00:44:56.180 bastion.
00:44:57.500 And he is
00:44:58.400 teaching a class
00:44:59.100 there called
00:44:59.460 Mass Persuasion
00:45:00.600 and Propaganda.
00:45:02.360 I would love to
00:45:02.960 see the syllabus
00:45:03.440 for that class.
00:45:04.820 Anyway, one
00:45:05.300 student went on
00:45:06.300 a tweet rant
00:45:07.640 aimed at this
00:45:09.040 guy.
00:45:09.740 She was telling
00:45:10.380 on him, he's
00:45:11.520 her professor,
00:45:12.800 for having the
00:45:13.720 temerity to
00:45:14.460 suggest that the
00:45:15.880 science on masks
00:45:17.100 is not 100%
00:45:18.820 definitive.
00:45:19.860 And he made
00:45:20.340 some other
00:45:20.640 coronavirus points
00:45:21.660 of view, but
00:45:22.220 she's focused on
00:45:22.880 the masks.
00:45:24.140 Now, of course,
00:45:25.080 our officials have
00:45:27.860 also done a
00:45:28.440 reversal on masks.
00:45:29.520 As you know,
00:45:30.140 we've gotten
00:45:30.420 conflicting
00:45:30.820 information from
00:45:31.500 the CDC.
00:45:32.660 But nonetheless,
00:45:33.720 the student is
00:45:34.240 outraged and she
00:45:35.640 claims to have
00:45:36.400 forwarded the
00:45:36.960 emails to the
00:45:37.660 NYU bias hotline.
00:45:39.160 Why the bias
00:45:39.960 hotline?
00:45:40.700 Who the hell
00:45:41.280 knows?
00:45:41.640 But whatever you
00:45:42.280 do, you're racist 0.92
00:45:43.360 and you're a bigot 0.71
00:45:44.020 and you're trans
00:45:44.560 and you're a
00:45:45.520 xenophobe and
00:45:46.140 somehow the
00:45:47.000 coronavirus mask
00:45:47.860 thing also makes 0.72
00:45:48.660 you awful.
00:45:49.840 So what did the
00:45:50.440 professor do?
00:45:51.140 Did he bend the
00:45:52.380 knee and apologize
00:45:53.060 for being a
00:45:53.620 hideous person?
00:45:54.840 No.
00:45:55.820 This is from his
00:45:56.580 blog, his blog
00:45:58.040 post on the
00:45:58.660 issue.
00:45:59.660 Quoting now,
00:46:01.060 my department
00:46:01.520 chair just called
00:46:02.140 to ask if that
00:46:03.260 is true.
00:46:04.320 It is, as I
00:46:05.340 readily told him,
00:46:06.360 and to let me
00:46:06.900 know that NYU's
00:46:08.040 COVID response
00:46:09.000 team, or whatever
00:46:09.700 it's called, will
00:46:10.420 shortly be emailing
00:46:11.760 all my students to
00:46:12.780 reaffirm the
00:46:13.380 policy, which I
00:46:14.500 told them
00:46:14.920 explicitly, I
00:46:16.100 don't advise
00:46:17.100 them to
00:46:17.500 ignore.
00:46:17.760 I do believe
00:46:19.080 they should be
00:46:19.520 thinking for
00:46:19.900 themselves and
00:46:20.960 studying the
00:46:21.660 evidence for any
00:46:22.580 claim or mandate
00:46:23.720 instead of merely
00:46:24.900 bowing to
00:46:25.380 authority.
00:46:26.580 That's my
00:46:27.060 intellectual and
00:46:28.020 civic obligation as
00:46:29.060 a teacher, whatever
00:46:30.080 NYU's official policy
00:46:31.380 or New York
00:46:31.880 states.
00:46:32.700 It's one thing to
00:46:33.400 expect the students
00:46:34.040 to obey their
00:46:34.720 institution's rules,
00:46:35.940 but quite another
00:46:36.940 thing to urge them
00:46:37.940 not to think about
00:46:39.420 it.
00:46:40.380 Oh, you go,
00:46:41.880 professor.
00:46:42.300 You go.
00:46:44.940 I admire his
00:46:46.100 ability to stay
00:46:47.400 steely-spined, and
00:46:49.560 we'll update you when
00:46:50.540 we know how it
00:46:51.720 turns out.
00:46:59.020 We saw that with
00:47:00.240 your old pal, Jimmy
00:47:01.100 Kimmel, right?
00:47:01.800 He got dragged
00:47:03.160 through the mud for
00:47:04.160 wearing blackface and
00:47:05.580 a couple of skits while
00:47:06.780 you guys did the man
00:47:08.100 show.
00:47:08.380 And, you know, as
00:47:10.460 somebody who was
00:47:11.300 accused of racism for
00:47:12.620 just trying to have a
00:47:13.320 discussion about
00:47:14.740 blackface, I did
00:47:15.940 wonder for a while
00:47:16.880 why no one seemed to
00:47:18.860 care that so many
00:47:20.020 celebrities had
00:47:20.680 actually worn it, but
00:47:22.380 I didn't really wonder
00:47:23.220 because I knew they
00:47:24.640 were perceived as
00:47:25.360 Democrats or liberals,
00:47:26.280 so they got a pass
00:47:27.540 for actually wearing
00:47:29.580 it.
00:47:30.180 And when that whole
00:47:31.500 controversy hit with
00:47:32.600 him, I know you
00:47:33.580 defended him.
00:47:34.580 What did you think
00:47:36.020 of it?
00:47:37.100 Yeah.
00:47:38.380 You know, for me, I
00:47:41.680 kind of approach
00:47:43.280 life as a former
00:47:45.180 carpenter, builder.
00:47:47.420 I just sort of work
00:47:48.700 big to small, you
00:47:50.120 know.
00:47:51.120 And first things
00:47:52.440 first, I'm not
00:47:53.520 interested in good
00:47:55.100 parents, good
00:47:55.980 citizens, taxpayers,
00:47:58.300 you know, whether it's
00:47:59.040 you or Jimmy Kimmel.
00:48:00.640 You guys are the least
00:48:02.240 of my problems.
00:48:03.020 As long as there's
00:48:04.160 murders and
00:48:05.340 arsonists and
00:48:06.420 deadbeat dads, I
00:48:07.840 have no problem
00:48:08.820 with good
00:48:10.600 citizens and
00:48:11.740 good people,
00:48:12.940 whatever their
00:48:13.840 politics are.
00:48:15.000 So just in
00:48:15.900 general, I'm not
00:48:17.380 interested in
00:48:18.420 disciplining
00:48:19.220 taxpayers,
00:48:21.500 citizens,
00:48:22.600 good dads,
00:48:23.520 good moms, 0.86
00:48:24.280 good neighbors.
00:48:25.060 I have no
00:48:25.860 interest in that.
00:48:28.100 But my
00:48:29.940 feeling is
00:48:31.360 always clarity.
00:48:32.480 my feeling when
00:48:34.140 you were talking
00:48:34.960 about going
00:48:35.820 trick-or-treating
00:48:37.100 and Halloween,
00:48:38.380 I dressed up as
00:48:40.000 Mr. T when I
00:48:41.080 was 19.
00:48:42.140 I went trick-or-treating
00:48:43.560 as Mr. T.
00:48:44.760 I put on
00:48:45.920 blackface.
00:48:46.780 I actually
00:48:47.200 remember.
00:48:48.720 And another thing
00:48:49.780 too is I don't
00:48:50.760 call it blackface. 0.98
00:48:52.260 I was impersonating
00:48:53.640 Mr. T.
00:48:54.760 Blackface is its 1.00
00:48:55.760 own, you know,
00:48:56.660 vaudevillian
00:48:57.360 show that was
00:48:59.840 there to denigrate
00:49:01.280 black people.
00:49:02.500 I was there
00:49:03.620 to praise
00:49:05.140 Mr. T.
00:49:06.180 It had nothing
00:49:06.840 to do.
00:49:08.240 See, I think
00:49:08.980 that the next
00:49:09.720 evolution of this
00:49:10.720 stuff is even
00:49:11.380 stop breaking it
00:49:12.480 down into color.
00:49:14.540 I was a huge
00:49:15.320 fan of Mr. T
00:49:16.500 when I was 19.
00:49:17.640 So I won
00:49:18.320 as Mr. T.
00:49:19.360 I shaved my
00:49:20.080 head.
00:49:20.800 I grew out my
00:49:21.460 beard.
00:49:22.020 I colored
00:49:23.020 myself.
00:49:23.700 I didn't use,
00:49:24.560 I didn't have
00:49:25.020 enough money for
00:49:26.060 literally like
00:49:26.960 black makeup.
00:49:28.460 I charred
00:49:30.000 something like
00:49:30.960 like a paper
00:49:31.680 towel roll or
00:49:32.580 something.
00:49:32.900 I just kind of
00:49:33.360 rubbed soot
00:49:34.400 on myself.
00:49:35.900 And I did,
00:49:37.040 I got the
00:49:37.600 chains.
00:49:38.420 I did everything
00:49:39.000 I could do to
00:49:39.920 look and sound
00:49:40.920 like Mr. T
00:49:41.860 for that
00:49:43.160 Halloween.
00:49:44.400 That was not
00:49:45.760 me in a
00:49:46.860 minstrel show.
00:49:47.740 That was me
00:49:48.300 doing Mr. T.
00:49:49.500 When I worked
00:49:50.180 with Jimmy on
00:49:51.640 The Man Show,
00:49:52.660 he was doing
00:49:53.300 Carl Malone,
00:49:54.940 NBA great Carl
00:49:56.340 Malone.
00:49:57.020 He loved
00:49:58.120 Carl Malone.
00:49:59.020 We did a
00:49:59.980 funny bit
00:50:00.780 where he
00:50:01.440 played Carl
00:50:02.120 Malone.
00:50:02.800 Chris Rock,
00:50:05.000 Jimmy Fallon
00:50:05.760 did Chris
00:50:06.400 Rock.
00:50:07.040 Jimmy Fallon
00:50:07.660 wasn't doing
00:50:08.280 a generic
00:50:09.040 black person.
00:50:10.680 Well,
00:50:10.860 and Chris
00:50:11.160 Rock came
00:50:12.000 out this
00:50:12.400 week or
00:50:12.840 last week
00:50:13.320 and said
00:50:13.780 intent does
00:50:14.620 matter.
00:50:15.460 It does.
00:50:15.900 He said
00:50:16.320 Jimmy Fallon
00:50:17.500 is a great
00:50:18.120 guy and
00:50:19.380 intent does
00:50:20.700 matter,
00:50:21.580 which is,
00:50:22.040 which is,
00:50:23.080 you know,
00:50:23.300 the discussion
00:50:23.780 I was trying
00:50:24.400 to raise
00:50:24.800 too.
00:50:25.040 And I
00:50:25.300 think to
00:50:26.600 say that
00:50:27.220 somebody's
00:50:27.860 mindset in
00:50:28.700 doing something
00:50:29.280 other people
00:50:29.780 consider insensitive
00:50:30.800 is irrelevant,
00:50:32.080 is just stupid. 0.59
00:50:33.700 That's just stupid.
00:50:34.580 We do need to
00:50:35.220 know what's in
00:50:36.200 somebody's heart
00:50:37.400 because people
00:50:38.360 will misstep and
00:50:39.440 predicting in
00:50:40.700 2020 what's
00:50:42.620 going to offend
00:50:43.640 somebody isn't
00:50:45.180 all that easy,
00:50:46.240 especially if you're
00:50:47.200 going to look
00:50:47.700 back.
00:50:48.220 I mean,
00:50:48.380 it's even worse
00:50:49.040 for people who
00:50:50.320 did what we
00:50:51.840 now see as
00:50:52.520 racially insensitive
00:50:53.360 things or
00:50:53.980 gender insensitive 0.88
00:50:55.620 things 20
00:50:56.980 years ago.
00:50:58.100 This is why,
00:50:58.760 this is why,
00:50:59.260 just as an
00:50:59.560 aside,
00:50:59.820 I never
00:51:00.120 understood why
00:51:01.120 they had to
00:51:01.540 take away the
00:51:02.220 Laura Ingalls
00:51:03.420 Wilder Reading
00:51:04.680 Award.
00:51:05.940 You know,
00:51:06.100 she did the
00:51:06.620 Little House
00:51:07.000 on the Prairie
00:51:07.360 series because
00:51:08.720 she was,
00:51:09.200 she was
00:51:09.700 insensitive.
00:51:10.240 The writings
00:51:10.540 are insensitive
00:51:11.140 to Native
00:51:11.560 Americans.
00:51:12.480 Well,
00:51:12.780 she lived in
00:51:13.400 the,
00:51:13.640 in the late
00:51:14.180 1800s.
00:51:15.380 I mean,
00:51:16.280 do you find
00:51:17.060 me somebody
00:51:17.540 back then who
00:51:18.240 was being
00:51:18.640 sensitive to
00:51:19.380 Native
00:51:19.600 Americans?
00:51:20.280 We evolve,
00:51:21.200 we learn,
00:51:21.980 we decide
00:51:22.740 whether the
00:51:23.220 new standards
00:51:24.000 are,
00:51:24.500 they make
00:51:24.960 sense or
00:51:25.620 they don't.
00:51:27.120 Well,
00:51:27.720 okay,
00:51:28.720 a bunch of
00:51:29.340 stuff.
00:51:29.880 First things
00:51:30.380 first,
00:51:31.540 nobody is
00:51:33.060 really offended.
00:51:34.640 Nobody's
00:51:35.160 really offended.
00:51:35.880 Nobody cares.
00:51:36.600 You think
00:51:37.220 anybody really
00:51:38.320 cares about
00:51:39.400 Jimmy Fallon
00:51:40.600 impersonating his
00:51:41.980 friend Chris
00:51:42.660 Rock from
00:51:43.240 20 years ago?
00:51:45.100 Do you?
00:51:45.680 Nobody cares.
00:51:46.940 Nobody.
00:51:48.340 Really nobody.
00:51:49.800 They really
00:51:50.480 don't.
00:51:50.860 Now,
00:51:51.040 they would
00:51:51.320 love to
00:51:52.160 wag their
00:51:52.640 finger at
00:51:53.180 everybody.
00:51:53.780 They would
00:51:54.000 love to
00:51:54.440 tsk everyone
00:51:56.140 and look down
00:51:56.960 their nose at
00:51:57.520 everyone and
00:51:58.120 then do the
00:51:58.600 schadenfreude
00:51:59.240 thing where
00:51:59.560 they go,
00:51:59.900 ooh,
00:52:00.200 guess who's
00:52:00.580 in trouble
00:52:00.940 now?
00:52:01.300 But they
00:52:01.560 don't care.
00:52:02.440 Nobody
00:52:02.720 thinks it's
00:52:03.280 racist.
00:52:04.000 And this
00:52:05.120 part of
00:52:06.160 what's in
00:52:06.640 your heart,
00:52:07.480 the fact that
00:52:08.020 we're ignoring
00:52:08.640 it, that is
00:52:09.720 insane because
00:52:11.220 it's going
00:52:12.140 right back to
00:52:12.900 the USC
00:52:13.380 professor who
00:52:14.780 was speaking a
00:52:15.820 different language.
00:52:16.920 And that guy
00:52:17.620 says, I was
00:52:18.580 speaking a
00:52:19.140 different language.
00:52:20.020 Sorry if it
00:52:20.520 sounded like the
00:52:21.300 N-word and
00:52:22.200 the administration
00:52:23.020 goes, we
00:52:23.960 don't care what
00:52:24.800 you were
00:52:25.080 thinking.
00:52:26.000 Here's what it
00:52:27.140 sounded like.
00:52:28.080 You're going to
00:52:28.560 be put on
00:52:29.040 administrative leave.
00:52:31.340 What kind of
00:52:32.540 way to run a
00:52:33.160 society is that?
00:52:34.140 We don't care.
00:52:34.780 So if my
00:52:37.660 wife is 1.00
00:52:38.520 taking my
00:52:39.240 car out to
00:52:40.440 get it
00:52:40.760 detailed for
00:52:42.020 my birthday
00:52:42.700 and gets
00:52:43.500 into an
00:52:44.000 accident versus
00:52:45.320 my son going
00:52:46.820 out joyriding
00:52:48.040 in it on a
00:52:49.020 Saturday night
00:52:49.640 and getting
00:52:50.340 into an
00:52:51.000 accident, I'm
00:52:52.040 supposed to
00:52:52.600 have the same
00:52:53.400 reaction just
00:52:54.360 because the
00:52:55.100 same car is
00:52:56.140 dented in the
00:52:57.240 same way?
00:52:58.220 That's insane.
00:53:00.500 The listening
00:53:01.860 to you talk
00:53:02.340 reminds me of
00:53:03.140 I did used
00:53:04.660 to listen,
00:53:05.220 believe it or
00:53:05.620 not, to
00:53:05.940 Loveline here
00:53:06.660 and there with
00:53:07.380 you and
00:53:07.720 Dr. Drew.
00:53:09.920 I do wonder
00:53:11.560 now looking
00:53:12.100 back, how did
00:53:13.140 you get selected
00:53:13.800 to be the
00:53:14.360 expert on
00:53:15.020 sex, love,
00:53:17.200 relationships?
00:53:18.900 Was there an
00:53:19.740 investigation of
00:53:20.600 your background
00:53:21.080 and your
00:53:21.400 qualifications for
00:53:22.620 that?
00:53:24.320 No.
00:53:25.600 It was a
00:53:26.440 simpler time.
00:53:27.160 My qualifications
00:53:28.420 were I have
00:53:29.940 a high school
00:53:30.560 degree and
00:53:33.460 1.7 GPA and
00:53:35.720 then I worked
00:53:36.480 on construction
00:53:37.200 sites my
00:53:38.060 entire adult
00:53:40.100 life and at
00:53:41.900 a certain point
00:53:43.620 I made it into
00:53:45.080 the radio station
00:53:46.320 and Dr. Drew
00:53:49.040 just took a
00:53:49.840 shining to me.
00:53:50.760 Dr. Drew just
00:53:51.520 thought this guy
00:53:52.300 is so funny and
00:53:53.440 I really didn't
00:53:55.000 know him very
00:53:55.780 well.
00:53:56.780 I did a small
00:53:57.900 character on
00:53:58.980 the morning show.
00:54:00.620 Dr. Drew just
00:54:01.320 fell in love with
00:54:02.060 this character and
00:54:03.280 Dr. Drew just
00:54:04.380 thought this is a
00:54:06.280 guy I want to
00:54:06.880 work with.
00:54:08.000 So he basically
00:54:10.040 got me on a
00:54:11.820 love line from
00:54:12.700 nowhere.
00:54:14.100 I was a poor
00:54:15.280 guy from the
00:54:16.020 San Fernando
00:54:16.520 Valley.
00:54:17.120 I drove a
00:54:17.520 truck and I
00:54:18.740 worked on
00:54:19.100 construction sites.
00:54:20.420 But I think
00:54:20.700 that's what gives
00:54:21.620 you your PhD
00:54:22.340 in life.
00:54:23.780 It's one thing
00:54:24.960 not to go to
00:54:25.760 college but look
00:54:26.380 at these
00:54:26.620 colleges now.
00:54:27.500 Even now my
00:54:28.340 oldest child is
00:54:29.380 11 and in
00:54:30.900 fifth grade I'm
00:54:32.000 already worried
00:54:32.740 about where we're
00:54:33.240 going to send
00:54:33.620 him.
00:54:34.040 I don't want
00:54:34.900 him indoctrinated
00:54:36.360 into far left
00:54:37.820 thinking.
00:54:39.160 We're not far
00:54:40.400 left people.
00:54:41.040 We're not far
00:54:41.460 right people
00:54:42.040 either.
00:54:42.560 I want them
00:54:43.700 to keep their
00:54:44.240 politics to
00:54:44.820 themselves and
00:54:45.860 to teach him
00:54:46.420 studies, actual
00:54:48.360 subjects, science,
00:54:50.180 real science, not
00:54:51.280 something that goes
00:54:52.380 with well I think
00:54:53.580 I'm a flower so
00:54:54.960 I'm a flower or
00:54:55.980 I'm an octopus so
00:54:56.860 I'm an octopus.
00:54:58.080 I think more and
00:54:59.760 more people are
00:55:00.280 going to choose
00:55:00.920 alternate avenues
00:55:02.480 of educating
00:55:03.460 themselves versus
00:55:04.900 these colleges.
00:55:07.220 I do want to
00:55:08.020 go ahead.
00:55:09.140 I just want to
00:55:10.040 add for people
00:55:11.800 who are kind of
00:55:12.420 thinking about it
00:55:13.300 there is a
00:55:15.540 bigger picture
00:55:16.400 which is you
00:55:17.360 want your kid
00:55:18.660 educated.
00:55:19.740 everyone always
00:55:22.640 talks about
00:55:23.500 the environment
00:55:24.580 the social
00:55:25.420 environment
00:55:26.020 education
00:55:27.420 so on and
00:55:28.140 so forth.
00:55:28.940 There's a really
00:55:29.620 big part of
00:55:30.640 being a kid
00:55:31.300 which is you
00:55:31.920 want your kid
00:55:32.660 to be happy.
00:55:34.560 You really do.
00:55:35.880 We got rid of
00:55:36.800 that.
00:55:37.200 That's no longer
00:55:38.060 real.
00:55:38.800 When you're
00:55:39.240 11 and
00:55:40.800 AOC is telling
00:55:42.300 you you're not
00:55:43.000 going to see
00:55:43.380 your 23rd
00:55:44.240 birthday and
00:55:45.420 Lena Dunham is
00:55:46.460 explaining that
00:55:47.300 all all people
00:55:48.820 who look like
00:55:49.660 you do is
00:55:50.860 oppress and
00:55:51.900 rape indigenous 1.00
00:55:52.660 people.
00:55:53.420 It's kind of
00:55:53.960 hard to enjoy
00:55:55.080 your childhood.
00:55:56.960 So just from
00:55:57.660 that perspective
00:55:58.580 alone why not
00:56:00.740 enjoy your
00:56:01.980 childhood and
00:56:02.840 the when you
00:56:03.580 get indoctrinated
00:56:04.640 like I saw
00:56:05.980 tape of like
00:56:07.280 I don't know
00:56:08.100 I saw news
00:56:08.960 footage of like
00:56:09.580 the women's
00:56:10.320 the women's
00:56:11.320 march from
00:56:11.940 two years ago
00:56:12.880 and I saw
00:56:13.900 these like
00:56:14.360 seven-year-old
00:56:15.160 girls like 0.99
00:56:15.960 screaming F 1.00
00:56:17.220 Trump as
00:56:18.020 loud as
00:56:18.440 they could
00:56:18.860 and I
00:56:19.160 thought to
00:56:19.480 myself those
00:56:21.140 girls that 1.00
00:56:22.040 are screaming
00:56:22.820 F Trump as
00:56:24.520 loud as they
00:56:25.120 can also
00:56:27.060 simultaneously
00:56:28.040 believe in
00:56:29.880 Santa Claus and
00:56:31.520 I thought what
00:56:32.460 a bizarre world
00:56:33.680 like you go
00:56:34.320 home and you
00:56:35.300 think about
00:56:35.840 Santa Claus and
00:56:36.960 then you go
00:56:37.460 out and you
00:56:38.080 hold up a
00:56:38.600 sign and you
00:56:39.340 start screaming
00:56:40.400 and wailing
00:56:41.200 into a camera
00:56:42.520 lens and I
00:56:43.240 thought these
00:56:44.060 are some of
00:56:44.420 the most miserable
00:56:45.240 people I've
00:56:45.880 ever seen in
00:56:46.400 my life and
00:56:46.980 why wouldn't
00:56:47.600 they be
00:56:47.900 miserable they
00:56:48.960 think the
00:56:49.340 world's gonna
00:56:49.880 end they
00:56:50.660 think they're
00:56:51.000 responsible for
00:56:51.880 all evils in
00:56:52.820 the world and
00:56:53.620 they think we
00:56:54.400 live in a
00:56:54.820 society that's
00:56:56.020 culturally and
00:56:56.980 socially racist
00:56:58.020 and has systemic
00:56:58.880 racism and
00:56:59.680 hatred toward
00:57:00.280 women and 0.99
00:57:00.820 gays and
00:57:01.280 blacks of 1.00
00:57:01.680 course I'd
00:57:02.400 be miserable
00:57:02.860 too if I
00:57:03.460 bought into
00:57:03.900 all that
00:57:04.300 stuff yeah
00:57:04.620 we've tried
00:57:05.420 to not talk
00:57:06.180 politics with
00:57:06.720 our kids at
00:57:07.320 all and if
00:57:09.160 I were ever to
00:57:09.820 go to a
00:57:10.280 march which I
00:57:10.940 have not in
00:57:11.820 my in my
00:57:12.560 past 25 years
00:57:13.940 I would
00:57:15.120 never bring
00:57:15.540 my child I
00:57:16.260 want my
00:57:16.780 children to
00:57:17.180 figure out
00:57:17.540 their own
00:57:17.840 politics over
00:57:18.640 time once
00:57:19.200 they're old
00:57:19.560 enough to
00:57:19.900 understand the
00:57:20.460 issues and I
00:57:21.040 certainly don't
00:57:21.760 want to gin
00:57:22.280 up anger or
00:57:23.920 activate them
00:57:25.120 when they're
00:57:26.120 little when
00:57:27.280 they're little I
00:57:27.840 mean we we
00:57:29.560 have recently
00:57:30.420 changed schools
00:57:31.240 and and we
00:57:32.740 loved our old
00:57:33.360 school don't get
00:57:33.900 me wrong but
00:57:34.900 more and more
00:57:35.600 they started to
00:57:36.340 get activist
00:57:37.540 and our
00:57:38.820 then six-year-old
00:57:40.080 our first
00:57:40.680 year first
00:57:41.320 grader was
00:57:42.360 made to write
00:57:43.060 a letter to
00:57:43.580 the Cleveland
00:57:44.280 Indians objecting 1.00
00:57:45.840 to the use of
00:57:46.680 Chief Wahoo on
00:57:47.740 any of their
00:57:48.260 merchandise and
00:57:49.640 all I could
00:57:50.120 think was who
00:57:51.140 gave you
00:57:51.520 permission to
00:57:52.140 activate my
00:57:52.840 child he
00:57:54.000 lives in New
00:57:54.620 York City he's
00:57:55.620 got to deal with
00:57:56.240 buses and
00:57:56.840 subways and
00:57:57.380 traffic and
00:57:58.060 homeless people
00:57:58.760 and it's a
00:57:59.360 challenge being
00:58:00.140 an urban kid
00:58:00.920 and who gave
00:58:02.140 you the
00:58:02.560 permission to
00:58:03.140 give him one
00:58:03.740 more thing to
00:58:04.540 get upset
00:58:05.220 about I just I
00:58:07.400 don't think it's
00:58:07.980 appropriate at
00:58:08.820 that age and I
00:58:09.560 certainly wouldn't
00:58:10.060 be bringing my
00:58:10.620 kids to protest I
00:58:11.620 know people do
00:58:12.200 it for me it I
00:58:14.180 don't think they're
00:58:14.660 ready for it so
00:58:17.640 one other question
00:58:19.320 about the man
00:58:19.780 show because I do
00:58:20.300 have to ask you
00:58:20.900 whether any
00:58:22.060 regrets on that
00:58:22.960 since Jimmy's
00:58:23.760 taken a beating
00:58:24.360 for some of
00:58:25.080 these segments
00:58:25.580 with the women
00:58:26.280 and the boobs 1.00
00:58:27.020 jumping up and
00:58:27.720 down on the
00:58:28.080 trampolines and
00:58:29.040 and I have to
00:58:31.520 tell you up
00:58:32.220 front as
00:58:32.740 somebody who is
00:58:33.880 all for female 0.91
00:58:34.500 empowerment I
00:58:35.800 I understand
00:58:36.980 it it's comedy
00:58:38.120 it was a
00:58:38.680 different time
00:58:39.460 I think it's
00:58:40.300 very hard to
00:58:40.820 go back now
00:58:41.440 and judge it
00:58:42.620 according to
00:58:43.400 these politically
00:58:44.120 correct woke
00:58:45.000 standards but how
00:58:46.560 do you see it
00:58:47.180 well no I
00:58:50.260 don't I don't
00:58:50.820 have regrets
00:58:51.720 because as a
00:58:53.480 comedian you
00:58:54.820 really just can't
00:58:55.680 have that gear
00:58:56.560 you say what
00:58:57.500 you think is
00:58:58.000 funny when you
00:58:58.960 think it's funny
00:58:59.680 and then you
00:59:00.160 move on to the
00:59:00.940 next thing you
00:59:02.240 think is funny
00:59:03.180 also if you're
00:59:04.460 a decent human
00:59:05.240 being who has
00:59:05.880 never hurt
00:59:06.520 anybody as I
00:59:07.600 have or haven't
00:59:09.620 then no I
00:59:11.000 don't spend that
00:59:11.720 much time trying
00:59:12.600 to parse out
00:59:14.120 words I said
00:59:15.140 you know 20
00:59:15.840 years ago but
00:59:17.160 people need to
00:59:18.080 understand and
00:59:19.820 and I don't
00:59:20.680 think enough
00:59:21.100 people do which
00:59:22.840 is I think a lot
00:59:23.920 of people have an
00:59:24.740 idea of what the
00:59:26.160 man show was and
00:59:27.660 the idea of what
00:59:28.600 the man show was
00:59:29.460 is me and Jimmy
00:59:30.160 sit there and
00:59:31.060 swill beer and
00:59:32.040 watch girls jump 0.98
00:59:33.100 it on trampolines
00:59:34.140 and make crass
00:59:35.140 remarks if that
00:59:36.860 was the format it
00:59:38.080 would have never
00:59:38.580 worked what worked
00:59:40.520 about the man
00:59:41.280 show is it was
00:59:42.460 really a comedy
00:59:44.020 sketch show that
00:59:45.980 had this theme
00:59:47.800 of the man show
00:59:48.620 but the bits were
00:59:50.020 interesting comedy
00:59:51.200 bits and Jimmy
00:59:53.340 and I always
00:59:55.340 understood and
00:59:56.360 everyone understood
00:59:57.920 that we would
01:00:00.020 always end up
01:00:01.260 being the losers
01:00:02.260 sort of like
01:00:03.200 Benny Hill
01:00:04.040 we kind of
01:00:04.940 based a lot of
01:00:05.720 it on Benny
01:00:06.340 Hill
01:00:06.560 Benny Hill
01:00:07.180 never got the
01:00:08.600 girl 0.91
01:00:09.020 Benny Hill
01:00:10.260 never slayed
01:00:11.580 the bully
01:00:12.200 Benny Hill
01:00:13.300 was always
01:00:14.980 Charlie
01:00:15.640 trying to
01:00:16.240 trying to
01:00:17.460 kick the 0.93
01:00:18.060 Charlie Brown
01:00:20.240 trying to kick 0.78
01:00:20.940 the football
01:00:21.580 and getting it
01:00:22.120 pulled out at the
01:00:22.780 end and Jimmy
01:00:23.520 and I knew
01:00:24.400 that if we
01:00:25.840 challenged a
01:00:27.580 couple of the
01:00:28.080 juggies to a
01:00:28.820 basketball game
01:00:29.820 and we won
01:00:30.920 we knew it
01:00:32.480 wouldn't be funny
01:00:33.320 we knew that we
01:00:34.300 always had to be
01:00:35.560 the loser
01:00:36.460 and the butt 1.00
01:00:37.880 of the joke
01:00:38.880 in the comedy
01:00:40.240 that if we won
01:00:41.360 it wasn't a
01:00:42.100 comedy
01:00:42.540 so people think
01:00:44.720 it's like all
01:00:45.280 about us just
01:00:45.940 sitting there
01:00:46.500 and the girls
01:00:47.000 adoring us
01:00:47.640 we never got
01:00:48.920 the girl
01:00:49.340 we never
01:00:49.820 we were always
01:00:50.720 the butt
01:00:51.220 of the joke
01:00:52.020 that's why the
01:00:52.740 show was funny
01:00:53.580 people don't
01:00:54.380 realize
01:00:54.760 they think it's
01:00:55.260 just a format
01:00:55.960 it was it
01:00:56.780 had a lot
01:00:57.540 it was about
01:00:58.480 the humor
01:00:59.060 even now you
01:01:00.200 go I love
01:01:00.900 the comedy
01:01:01.300 seller here
01:01:01.800 in New York
01:01:02.800 and you go
01:01:03.560 there and
01:01:03.900 when you see
01:01:04.380 a comedian
01:01:05.140 who's trying
01:01:05.760 to censor
01:01:06.300 himself so
01:01:07.140 that he
01:01:07.520 can stay
01:01:07.900 within the
01:01:08.360 right rails
01:01:09.160 on politically
01:01:10.180 correct subjects
01:01:10.940 it's painful
01:01:12.020 it used to
01:01:13.020 be you could
01:01:13.940 make inappropriate
01:01:14.920 jokes and
01:01:15.800 people understood
01:01:16.540 that they were
01:01:16.980 jokes and if
01:01:17.660 you don't want
01:01:18.080 to hear them
01:01:18.440 you shouldn't
01:01:19.340 hang out at
01:01:20.000 the comedy
01:01:20.420 clubs you
01:01:20.900 should go
01:01:21.220 someplace else
01:01:21.740 go to the
01:01:22.160 library sit
01:01:23.140 by yourself
01:01:24.120 with the
01:01:24.580 newly
01:01:25.260 you know
01:01:26.820 books that
01:01:27.480 have been
01:01:27.820 approved by
01:01:28.500 some unknown
01:01:29.620 woke god
01:01:31.180 who's now
01:01:32.040 censoring
01:01:32.560 publications
01:01:33.280 I think
01:01:34.500 little house
01:01:35.260 on the prairie
01:01:36.000 well certainly
01:01:37.360 no awards
01:01:38.100 from anybody
01:01:39.300 who's connected
01:01:39.860 to Laura Ingalls
01:01:40.600 Wilder
01:01:41.140 so I
01:01:42.820 I wondered
01:01:43.520 about that
01:01:44.020 I mean I
01:01:44.340 I know that
01:01:45.260 you and Jimmy
01:01:46.260 are friends
01:01:46.880 I think a
01:01:47.940 I like it
01:01:48.560 because you're
01:01:49.480 clearly on the
01:01:50.320 right someplace
01:01:51.260 center right
01:01:52.000 or right
01:01:52.400 and he's
01:01:53.040 obviously on the
01:01:53.780 left
01:01:54.120 I do
01:01:55.160 wonder whether
01:01:55.860 how does
01:01:56.900 it work
01:01:57.340 because I
01:01:57.800 think he
01:01:58.420 takes more
01:01:58.980 he takes
01:01:59.820 more shit
01:02:00.260 for the
01:02:00.720 man show
01:02:01.140 than you
01:02:01.500 do I
01:02:02.300 think because
01:02:02.840 he wound
01:02:03.140 up on the
01:02:03.480 left and
01:02:04.140 he says
01:02:04.580 mean things
01:02:05.360 about Republicans
01:02:06.020 he says
01:02:06.540 stuff like
01:02:07.680 you all
01:02:08.740 the talk show
01:02:09.360 hosts are
01:02:09.760 liberal because
01:02:10.320 it requires
01:02:10.860 a level of
01:02:11.380 intelligence and
01:02:12.400 then everybody
01:02:12.780 on the right
01:02:13.320 is like
01:02:14.420 screw you
01:02:15.600 you signed
01:02:16.780 up for these
01:02:17.360 people and
01:02:18.100 these are the
01:02:18.520 people who are
01:02:18.940 trying to shame
01:02:19.460 us and look at
01:02:20.080 all the stuff
01:02:20.440 you did but
01:02:21.300 you haven't
01:02:21.740 turned into a
01:02:22.320 scold so you
01:02:23.220 don't get
01:02:23.560 it well
01:02:25.280 I there's
01:02:27.260 two things
01:02:27.920 a no one
01:02:28.900 cares about
01:02:29.460 me be I
01:02:31.000 just don't
01:02:31.580 apologize to
01:02:32.520 anybody I
01:02:33.000 just tell
01:02:33.400 everyone I
01:02:33.800 don't care
01:02:35.400 well I
01:02:37.340 would I
01:02:37.880 have a
01:02:38.980 14 year old
01:02:39.640 daughter you
01:02:40.980 know we I've
01:02:42.020 raised my voice
01:02:42.860 to her in the
01:02:44.520 past sometimes
01:02:45.360 some words
01:02:46.340 slipped out in
01:02:47.320 the heat of
01:02:47.840 battle and
01:02:48.460 then I
01:02:48.740 apologize to
01:02:49.680 her the
01:02:50.740 following day
01:02:51.480 so I'm
01:02:52.000 not above
01:02:53.620 apologizing to
01:02:55.000 anybody but I
01:02:55.880 don't apologize
01:02:56.440 to the mob
01:02:57.380 and I don't
01:02:58.440 apologize for
01:02:59.360 work that I've
01:03:00.240 done and I'm
01:03:01.160 not in charge
01:03:01.760 of your feelings
01:03:02.480 so you're in
01:03:03.900 charge of your
01:03:04.320 feelings I can't
01:03:05.180 fix your feelings
01:03:05.960 and by the way
01:03:06.580 you don't want me
01:03:07.760 to apologize
01:03:08.400 because your
01:03:09.560 feelings are hurt
01:03:10.360 or because you're
01:03:10.940 offended you want
01:03:11.740 me to apologize
01:03:13.200 because you want
01:03:14.100 power over me
01:03:15.280 you want
01:03:15.900 you want
01:03:16.240 someone to bend
01:03:17.820 the knee
01:03:18.200 yes you
01:03:19.520 have no
01:03:19.920 interest in
01:03:20.680 my apology
01:03:21.320 other than
01:03:22.060 to bend
01:03:22.780 my knee
01:03:23.300 to you
01:03:23.740 because you
01:03:24.160 have a
01:03:24.440 narcissistic
01:03:25.300 disorder
01:03:25.920 and I'm
01:03:26.700 not interested
01:03:27.260 in being
01:03:28.420 involved in
01:03:29.360 this weird
01:03:29.980 little play
01:03:31.040 where I'm
01:03:32.040 cast in the
01:03:32.860 role of
01:03:33.940 the male
01:03:34.980 who has to
01:03:35.940 apologize to
01:03:36.920 you because
01:03:37.880 you're casting
01:03:38.700 some sort of
01:03:40.060 diorama of
01:03:41.580 a narcissistic
01:03:42.900 disorder go
01:03:43.660 talk to a
01:03:44.300 therapist
01:03:44.800 right
01:03:46.080 so what
01:03:47.620 I have to
01:03:48.260 ask you
01:03:48.860 before I
01:03:49.220 let you
01:03:49.460 go
01:03:49.700 what
01:03:50.260 your
01:03:51.300 thoughts
01:03:51.700 are
01:03:51.980 on
01:03:52.440 podcasting
01:03:53.400 you are
01:03:53.900 you have
01:03:54.560 become
01:03:55.200 one of
01:03:56.340 if not
01:03:56.780 the
01:03:57.200 most
01:03:57.820 powerful
01:03:58.660 podcaster
01:03:59.420 certainly
01:04:00.660 doing
01:04:01.060 political
01:04:01.480 commentary
01:04:01.900 after Joe
01:04:02.720 Rogan
01:04:03.020 he's
01:04:03.380 he's
01:04:03.680 number
01:04:03.860 one
01:04:04.180 but
01:04:05.000 you're
01:04:05.340 hugely
01:04:05.780 successful
01:04:06.380 the
01:04:06.720 number
01:04:07.000 of
01:04:07.180 downloads
01:04:07.580 you
01:04:07.760 guys
01:04:07.920 get
01:04:08.140 is
01:04:08.420 staggering
01:04:09.180 so
01:04:10.180 now
01:04:10.360 I'm
01:04:10.600 just
01:04:10.800 a
01:04:11.020 neophyte
01:04:12.300 here
01:04:12.660 in this
01:04:12.960 business
01:04:13.320 so
01:04:13.920 what's
01:04:14.200 your
01:04:14.300 advice
01:04:14.620 for me
01:04:16.080 well
01:04:17.100 you're
01:04:17.300 off
01:04:17.480 to a
01:04:17.740 great
01:04:17.920 start
01:04:18.320 with
01:04:18.540 guests
01:04:18.880 like
01:04:19.160 me
01:04:19.420 Megan
01:04:19.740 you know
01:04:22.160 I
01:04:22.520 don't
01:04:23.400 I
01:04:23.640 think
01:04:24.180 I
01:04:25.240 think
01:04:25.720 this
01:04:26.120 is
01:04:26.300 the
01:04:26.460 place
01:04:26.820 you
01:04:27.020 go
01:04:27.520 to
01:04:28.440 really
01:04:29.040 explore
01:04:30.000 ideas
01:04:30.820 and
01:04:31.660 you've
01:04:32.200 done
01:04:32.380 enough
01:04:32.700 TV
01:04:33.120 and
01:04:33.440 I've
01:04:33.760 done
01:04:33.920 enough
01:04:34.220 TV
01:04:34.620 to
01:04:34.960 know
01:04:35.280 that
01:04:35.680 you're
01:04:36.720 kind
01:04:36.940 of
01:04:37.020 on
01:04:37.200 the
01:04:37.340 clock
01:04:37.820 you
01:04:38.240 know
01:04:38.460 I've
01:04:39.160 done
01:04:39.340 enough
01:04:39.600 terrestrial
01:04:40.040 radio
01:04:40.540 where
01:04:40.860 everything
01:04:41.080 gets
01:04:41.320 broken
01:04:41.920 down
01:04:42.480 and
01:04:43.260 it's
01:04:43.460 literally
01:04:43.880 on
01:04:44.300 the
01:04:44.460 clock
01:04:44.840 you know
01:04:45.360 and I
01:04:46.160 think
01:04:46.400 this is
01:04:47.300 the
01:04:47.440 place
01:04:47.720 you go
01:04:48.220 to
01:04:49.020 really
01:04:49.820 explore
01:04:50.880 ideas
01:04:51.660 not
01:04:52.140 unlike
01:04:52.780 what we
01:04:53.360 just
01:04:53.760 have
01:04:54.320 done
01:04:54.620 for the
01:04:54.960 last
01:04:55.280 hour
01:04:55.620 and
01:04:56.460 I
01:04:57.380 think
01:04:57.620 it's
01:04:57.880 good
01:04:58.460 if
01:04:58.920 you
01:04:59.320 are
01:05:00.040 thoughtful
01:05:00.500 you
01:05:01.100 are
01:05:01.420 and
01:05:01.720 you
01:05:01.920 really
01:05:02.720 want
01:05:03.160 the
01:05:03.800 freedom
01:05:04.360 to
01:05:05.460 explore
01:05:06.500 ideas
01:05:07.280 I
01:05:07.580 think
01:05:08.260 you
01:05:10.780 cannot
01:05:11.400 think
01:05:12.020 to
01:05:12.180 yourself
01:05:12.620 what
01:05:13.140 does
01:05:13.420 the
01:05:13.620 audience
01:05:14.020 want
01:05:14.440 to
01:05:14.640 hear
01:05:14.940 you
01:05:15.180 have
01:05:15.440 to
01:05:15.580 think
01:05:15.920 to
01:05:16.040 yourself
01:05:16.400 what
01:05:16.840 am
01:05:17.000 I
01:05:17.260 interested
01:05:17.840 in
01:05:18.240 and
01:05:18.500 then
01:05:18.680 how
01:05:18.980 do
01:05:19.120 I
01:05:19.240 make
01:05:19.420 that
01:05:19.620 interested
01:05:20.120 to
01:05:21.000 my
01:05:21.320 audience
01:05:21.940 or
01:05:22.360 growing
01:05:23.160 audience
01:05:23.680 that
01:05:23.880 maybe
01:05:24.120 hasn't
01:05:24.600 heard
01:05:25.240 these
01:05:25.540 ideas
01:05:26.060 so
01:05:26.740 it's
01:05:27.220 super
01:05:27.580 organic
01:05:28.240 it's
01:05:29.380 it's
01:05:29.660 I
01:05:30.020 wish
01:05:30.540 I
01:05:30.800 you know
01:05:31.000 I
01:05:31.140 feel
01:05:31.440 I
01:05:31.780 feel
01:05:32.040 like
01:05:32.360 a
01:05:32.620 personal
01:05:33.040 trainer
01:05:33.660 and
01:05:34.180 a
01:05:34.360 nutritionist
01:05:35.420 just
01:05:35.660 going
01:05:35.900 diet
01:05:36.340 and
01:05:36.520 exercise
01:05:36.960 and
01:05:37.400 you
01:05:37.520 going
01:05:37.800 yeah
01:05:38.160 but
01:05:38.360 I'm
01:05:38.540 looking
01:05:38.740 for
01:05:38.960 I'm
01:05:39.740 looking
01:05:39.900 for
01:05:40.140 I
01:05:41.640 want
01:05:41.940 a
01:05:42.100 tip
01:05:42.440 and
01:05:43.000 I'm
01:05:43.140 going
01:05:43.320 diet
01:05:43.980 and
01:05:44.160 exercise
01:05:44.540 like
01:05:45.160 there
01:05:45.500 really
01:05:46.100 isn't
01:05:46.400 anything
01:05:46.720 to
01:05:47.080 it
01:05:47.220 you're
01:05:47.500 good
01:05:47.920 you
01:05:48.900 have
01:05:49.200 a
01:05:49.360 voice
01:05:49.800 you
01:05:50.120 have
01:05:50.400 thoughts
01:05:50.920 and
01:05:51.320 then
01:05:51.440 it
01:05:51.580 just
01:05:51.760 becomes
01:05:52.100 about
01:05:52.400 consistency
01:05:53.160 if
01:05:57.000 it's
01:05:57.400 all
01:05:57.560 about
01:05:57.780 what
01:05:57.960 I
01:05:58.100 really
01:05:58.400 want
01:05:58.640 to
01:05:58.740 know
01:05:59.000 given
01:05:59.320 your
01:05:59.620 background
01:06:00.040 I'm
01:06:00.340 asking
01:06:00.660 you
01:06:00.860 one
01:06:01.000 more
01:06:01.140 question
01:06:01.560 given
01:06:02.360 your
01:06:02.620 time
01:06:02.940 on
01:06:03.160 Loveline
01:06:03.740 Dr.
01:06:04.260 Drew
01:06:04.540 your
01:06:04.940 expertise
01:06:05.560 you
01:06:05.860 developed
01:06:06.220 on the
01:06:06.500 air
01:06:06.700 there
01:06:06.980 say
01:06:07.980 you've
01:06:08.320 been
01:06:08.520 married
01:06:08.920 for
01:06:09.380 you
01:06:10.020 know
01:06:10.220 I
01:06:10.920 don't
01:06:11.040 know
01:06:11.280 how
01:06:12.000 many
01:06:12.160 years
01:06:12.400 have
01:06:12.540 I
01:06:12.640 been
01:06:12.820 married
01:06:13.100 now
01:06:13.400 12
01:06:14.120 years
01:06:14.600 and
01:06:15.300 you
01:06:15.520 want
01:06:15.880 to
01:06:16.020 surprise
01:06:16.540 your
01:06:16.820 husband
01:06:17.200 with
01:06:17.700 something
01:06:18.160 spicy
01:06:18.660 but
01:06:19.840 you
01:06:20.020 don't
01:06:20.300 get
01:06:20.560 too
01:06:20.800 far
01:06:21.040 out
01:06:21.240 there
01:06:23.160 headlines
01:06:23.600 if
01:06:23.900 somebody
01:06:24.280 were to
01:06:24.520 see
01:06:24.640 through
01:06:24.800 your
01:06:24.940 windows
01:06:25.180 but
01:06:25.420 you
01:06:25.520 want
01:06:25.700 to
01:06:25.800 spice
01:06:26.100 it
01:06:26.240 up
01:06:26.380 a
01:06:26.500 little
01:06:26.660 what
01:06:27.640 should
01:06:27.840 I
01:06:27.960 do
01:06:28.180 wow
01:06:29.840 old
01:06:31.080 school
01:06:31.400 love
01:06:31.740 line
01:06:32.000 question
01:06:32.420 well
01:06:32.740 you
01:06:33.020 know
01:06:33.180 what
01:06:33.360 I
01:06:33.560 I
01:06:34.560 always
01:06:35.120 kind
01:06:35.440 of
01:06:35.560 feel
01:06:35.900 like
01:06:36.260 you
01:06:36.700 know
01:06:37.060 your
01:06:37.320 husband's
01:06:38.220 proclivities
01:06:39.260 like
01:06:39.680 you know
01:06:40.300 what
01:06:40.640 that
01:06:40.920 guy
01:06:41.200 likes
01:06:41.820 you
01:06:42.020 know
01:06:42.280 like
01:06:43.220 maybe
01:06:44.180 he
01:06:45.300 loves
01:06:45.720 watching
01:06:46.220 ESPN
01:06:46.980 so
01:06:48.020 you
01:06:48.220 let him
01:06:48.580 keep
01:06:48.840 the
01:06:49.040 TV
01:06:49.360 on
01:06:49.800 this
01:06:50.100 round
01:06:50.500 you
01:06:50.840 know
01:06:51.100 maybe
01:06:52.700 you
01:06:53.700 know
01:06:53.900 he
01:06:54.080 loves
01:06:54.380 barbecue
01:06:55.100 keep
01:06:57.160 that
01:06:57.440 out
01:06:57.620 of
01:06:57.700 the
01:06:57.840 bedroom
01:06:58.260 I'm
01:06:59.100 trying
01:06:59.380 to
01:06:59.540 think
01:06:59.760 my
01:07:00.060 feeling
01:07:00.580 is
01:07:00.920 I
01:07:02.120 think
01:07:02.640 a lot
01:07:03.140 of
01:07:03.280 couples
01:07:03.680 think
01:07:04.120 I'm
01:07:04.980 going
01:07:05.280 to
01:07:05.800 do
01:07:06.400 this
01:07:06.960 for
01:07:07.860 him
01:07:08.200 like
01:07:08.420 I'm
01:07:08.700 gonna
01:07:08.840 buy
01:07:09.720 a
01:07:09.960 negligee
01:07:10.700 for
01:07:10.960 him
01:07:11.380 but
01:07:12.040 like
01:07:12.340 if
01:07:12.560 the
01:07:12.740 guy
01:07:13.040 doesn't
01:07:13.500 really
01:07:13.980 like
01:07:14.540 lingerie
01:07:15.440 as it
01:07:16.240 turns out
01:07:16.760 he likes
01:07:17.140 ESPN
01:07:17.820 and
01:07:18.120 barbecued
01:07:18.740 baby
01:07:19.080 back
01:07:19.460 pork
01:07:20.060 ribs
01:07:20.460 then
01:07:21.000 give
01:07:21.380 him
01:07:21.580 give
01:07:22.180 him
01:07:22.360 that
01:07:22.660 I
01:07:23.340 say
01:07:23.780 figure
01:07:24.560 out
01:07:24.780 what
01:07:24.940 he
01:07:25.060 wants
01:07:25.400 if
01:07:25.660 you're
01:07:25.840 looking
01:07:26.040 to
01:07:26.240 spice
01:07:26.620 it
01:07:26.800 up
01:07:27.140 on
01:07:28.080 your
01:07:28.280 13th
01:07:29.180 anniversary
01:07:29.740 and

01:07:31.860 it
01:07:32.060 make
01:07:32.720 it
