The Megyn Kelly Show - Biden Reveals Cancer Diagnosis, Hur Audio Drops, Mexican Navy Ship Crashes in NYC： AM Update 5⧸19

00:00:00.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Megan Kelly. It's Monday, May 19th, 2025, and this is your AM

00:00:08.660 Update. President Biden diagnosed with cancer. We have the details.

00:00:13.060 A sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory. The five-hour audio recording of

00:00:31.420 President Biden's interview with Special Counsel Robert Herr released publicly. A Mexican Navy

00:00:37.480 ship crashes into the Brooklyn Bridge. Investigators search for the cause of the accident, and

00:00:43.100 authorities identify a suspect in the terror attack at a California fertility clinic. I come to you 0.87

00:00:49.340 as a brother who desires to be the servant of your faith and your joy. Pope Leo XIV is officially

00:00:56.100 inaugurated as head of the Catholic Church. All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM

00:01:01.540 Update. As President Trump is settling into his new administration, one of the top Democrats in

00:01:09.440 Congress aiming to undermine the Trump agenda is Democrat Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois. And

00:01:15.100 according to our sponsor, the Electronic Payments Coalition, Senator Durbin has a new plan, a

00:01:21.020 government takeover of your credit card. Today, Americans have thousands of choices in credit

00:01:25.860 cards, but they say Senator Durbin's plan will result in less competition and less security,

00:01:30.700 which means more risk for your credit and your identity. You can learn more for yourself at

00:01:36.360 guardyourcard.org. And you could consider telling your senators to stop Dick Durbin's government

00:01:42.940 takeover of your credit card before it's too late. On Sunday afternoon, the office of former

00:01:51.840 President Joe Biden releasing a statement, quote, last week, President Biden was seen for a new finding

00:01:57.620 of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with

00:02:04.460 prostate cancer, with metastasis to the bone. While this represents a more aggressive form of the

00:02:10.280 disease, the cancer appears to be hormone sensitive, which allows for effective management.

00:02:15.600 The president and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.

00:02:19.760 President Trump responding on Truth Social, quote,

00:02:22.000 Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden's recent medical diagnosis. We extend our

00:02:28.160 warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.

00:02:34.040 News of the diagnosis raising questions about whether it is possible for prostate cancer

00:02:38.500 to metastasize into bone cancer so quickly. Some now asking whether it's possible that President

00:02:44.640 Biden might have had cancer while in office. And if that were the case, many questioning how a White House

00:02:50.880 physician would not have caught the symptoms in a prostate-specific antigen test. His last physical,

00:02:57.240 February 28, 2024, with no mention of the PSA test or the results. The announcement comes as a new book

00:03:04.760 on how the White House hid Mr. Biden's mental acuity problems hits shelves this week. No sooner had

00:03:11.500 Mr. Biden's office made the announcement than former Obama advisor David Axelrod said on CNN that

00:03:17.740 conversations about Mr. Biden's mental state, quote, should be more muted and set aside for now as

00:03:24.280 he's struggling through this. To be clear, The Megyn Kelly Show and AM Update disagree. We wish Mr.

00:03:31.000 Biden all the best with his recovery, and we also plan to dig deep into these issues, including what

00:03:37.200 role not only the White House but the press had in covering them up when the authors of the new book,

00:03:43.180 Original Sin, appear on The Megyn Kelly Show this Tuesday.

00:03:48.820 On Saturday, Axios releasing the long-awaited audio recordings of special counsel Robert Herr's

00:03:55.000 interview with President Biden. The tapes capturing President Biden's responses during Mr. Herr's

00:04:00.120 investigation into his handling of classified documents. The probe centering on documents from

00:04:05.180 Mr. Biden's time as vice president and as senator that were discovered at his home and former office.

00:04:10.220 The five-hour interview conducted on October 8th and 9th, 2023, became a key factor in Herr's decision

00:04:17.420 not to pursue criminal charges, citing concerns that a jury might perceive President Biden as,

00:04:23.200 quote, a sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory. Throughout the interview,

00:04:28.140 President Biden meandering, struggling to grasp words. The president also frequently veering off-topic,

00:04:34.040 sharing personal anecdotes seemingly unrelated to the prosecutor's questions.

00:04:37.860 Mr. Biden asked if he ever brought classified material from the Naval Observatory or the West

00:04:43.140 Wing, responding with a rambling 12-minute answer, including a story about a trip to Mongolia.

00:04:47.700 They had a target. They said, hey, 100 yards away. And these guerrillas were, you know,

00:04:55.180 taking shots. And I think, I don't know, it's an embarrassment to make a point with a hand at the

00:05:02.320 bow and arrow. I'm not a bad archer. But all I found that were, if I could pull it back, so I

00:05:09.340 had pure luck, I hit the goddamn target. 0.99

00:05:12.820 Special counsel Herr's report also noting Mr. Biden's struggles in recalling important life 0.99

00:05:18.680 events, including the date of his son Beau's death. Here's the audio from that portion of the

00:05:23.520 interview. I don't know. This is what, 2017, 18, that period? Yes, sir. Remember, in this time frame,

00:05:35.100 my son has either been deployed or is dying. Beau Biden passed away from brain cancer in May,

00:05:44.580 2015. More from that moment.

00:05:46.960 One month ago, Beau died. May 30th.

00:05:52.840 2019.

00:05:54.140 2015, he died.

00:05:56.060 May 2015.

00:05:57.480 I think it was 2015.

00:05:59.040 I'm not sure the month, sir, but I think it was, yeah.

00:06:01.800 That's right, Mr. President.

00:06:03.380 And what's happened in the meantime is that as Trump gets elected in November of 2017,

00:06:20.260 2016, 2016. All right. So, why did I have 2017 here? That's when you left office.

00:06:28.360 The final report, released in February 2024, prompting President Biden to hold a rare

00:06:33.500 evening press conference to address the characterizations in special counsel Robert

00:06:37.640 Herr's report.

00:06:38.840 I know there's some attention paid to some language in the report about

00:06:41.760 my recollection of events. There's even reference that I don't remember when my son died. How in the

00:06:48.840 hell dare he raise that? Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself, 0.80

00:06:53.320 it wasn't any other damn business. 0.91

00:06:54.880 As the tapes show, Mr. Herr had not raised President Biden's son's death. It was Mr. 0.97

00:07:00.920 Biden who did that. Back then, Dems still circling the wagons around Mr. Biden, some tearing into

00:07:06.740 Mr. Herr, accusing him of partisan activism at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on his findings

00:07:12.200 in March. One moment here from then-California Congressman Adam Schiff.

00:07:16.320 You don't gratuitously do things to prejudice the subject of an investigation when you're

00:07:21.800 declining to prosecute. You don't gratuitously add language that you'll know will be useful

00:07:27.640 in a political campaign. You were not born yesterday. You understood exactly what you

00:07:33.300 were doing. It was a choice. You certainly didn't have to include that language. You could have said

00:07:38.900 vis-a-vis the documents that were found at the university. The president did not recall.

00:07:43.260 There is nothing more common. You know this. I know this. There is nothing more common

00:07:47.720 with a witness of any age when asked about events that are years old to say, I do not recall.

00:07:53.620 Indeed, they're instructed by their attorney to do that if they have any question about it.

00:07:57.640 You understood that. You made a choice. That was a political choice. It was the wrong choice.

00:08:03.220 Despite public polling showing increasing public concern surrounding Mr. Biden's cognitive

00:08:07.900 abilities, Democrats and media members insisting in the months leading up to and the months

00:08:12.600 following this report that President Biden was at his very best. A portion of that defense,

00:08:18.500 courtesy here of Grabian.

00:08:20.200 Start your tape right now because I'm about to tell you the truth. And F you if you can't handle 0.97

00:08:25.920 the truth. This version of Biden is the best Biden ever.

00:08:31.400 He is sharp, intensely probing, and detail-oriented and focused.

00:08:37.340 Agism is an issue. Americans have a rich history of holding people's physical characteristics 0.93

00:08:42.980 against them. He's older. That doesn't mean that he

00:08:46.680 is unfit. And there's a lot of ageism there. The flip side of this coin is that he has a

00:08:51.620 tremendous amount of wisdom and experience. Have you heard any concerns from anyone who has met

00:08:58.340 with President Biden about him seeming a little slower? No. More wild speculation from a bunch of

00:09:04.420 people who have probably never been in a room with Joe Biden and certainly don't have medical

00:09:08.120 degrees that I'm aware of. The tapes obtained by Axios in conjunction with the new book co-authored

00:09:13.160 by Axios reporter Alex Thompson and CNN Jake Tapper. Those are the authors of that book, Original Sin.

00:09:21.680 On Saturday evening, a sailing ship belonging to the Mexican Navy smashing into the Brooklyn Bridge

00:09:27.280 in a deadly, horrifying accident. The Cuauhtémoc, a tall ship, the kind you might think of as a

00:09:33.480 classic sailing vessel on a global goodwill tour carrying 277 people when it suffered a mechanical

00:09:39.960 failure and reportedly began drifting backward. The ship's three towering masts striking the bridge

00:09:46.120 one by one. Two crew members were killed, more than 20 others injured. The New York Times reporting

00:09:51.620 11 are in critical condition. Despite the impact, the heavily trafficked Brooklyn Bridge did not sustain

00:09:57.800 any substantial structural damage, which is a miracle if you look at this crash. New York City Mayor Eric

00:10:04.220 Adams delivering remarks from the scene. The police commissioner and her team immediately responded

00:10:09.460 with FDNY Commissioner Tucker to have a coordinated effort and willing to thank the Coast Guard and their

00:10:16.780 effort as well. So the coordination was extremely important and it was executed to the best of our

00:10:23.920 ability to minimize any loss of life. Dramatic video captured by bystanders from every angle showing

00:10:30.420 sailors who had been perched on the rigging dangling from the masts. One witness telling the New York

00:10:35.820 Post a crew member was seen dangling for at least 15 minutes before being rescued. The ship is now docked at

00:10:41.980 a nearby pier in New York Harbor as investigations into the cause of the accident continue. Coming up,

00:10:48.320 the FBI announces a suspect in the deadly car bombing outside of a California fertility clinic. And the first

00:10:55.360 American-born pope is officially inaugurated.

00:12:02.740 The FBI investigating a deadly car explosion at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California as

00:12:12.280 an intentional act of terrorism. At 10.52 a.m. Saturday, a massive blast rocking the area,

00:12:18.560 damaging buildings several blocks away. The suspect was killed and four were injured in the blast.

00:12:24.400 Investigators recovering two rifles and ammo from the scene. The suspect, identified by authorities as

00:12:30.340 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus, a resident of 29 Palms, about an hour drive away from the scene of

00:12:37.520 the explosion. According to the Associated Press, the suspect was planning to record or stream the

00:12:42.880 attack. The LA Times, reporting on a website containing no names but, quote, appearing connected

00:12:49.020 to the bombing, laying out the case for, quote, a war against pro-lifers. The site includes a section of

00:12:55.440 the website directing users to view the recorded stream of an IVF clinic bombing, though there is

00:13:01.400 no file connected to the prompt. According to the Times, the website, quote, extolled a hodgepodge of

00:13:07.580 philosophies from abolitionist veganism, the opposition to all animal use by humans, and negative

00:13:14.420 utilitarianism, the idea that we should act to minimize suffering rather than maximize pleasure in the

00:13:20.060 world. The AP also reports that writings recovered from Bartkus' home, quote him as believing the world

00:13:26.260 should not be populated. On Saturday night, law enforcement swarming a neighborhood in 29 Palms,

00:13:32.420 ABC Eyewitness News reporting tactical units and an armored vehicle on the scene. The target of the

00:13:38.400 attack, the American Reproductive Centers, a fertility clinic, and IVF lab, suffering extensive damage.

00:13:44.700 Aerial footage showing the roof partially collapsed, debris extending out into the street.

00:13:50.760 The clinic reporting on social media, all staff members are accounted for, and no eggs or embryos

00:13:55.740 were damaged in the explosion as they are held in a different facility. My goodness. Assistant

00:14:01.760 Director of the LA Field Office, Akil Davis, telling reporters this is one of the largest bombing

00:14:06.760 investigations in Southern California. The Joint Terrorism Task Force is leading the investigation.

00:14:12.280 Authorities believe this was an isolated incident. Attorney General Pam Bondi, writing on X, quote,

00:14:17.740 We are working to learn more, but let me be clear. The Trump administration understands that women and 1.00

00:14:22.880 mothers are the heartbeat of America. Violence against a fertility clinic is unforgivable. 1.00

00:14:29.740 Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope ever, officially inaugurated on Sunday as the head of the Catholic Church.

00:14:38.220 Thousands gathering in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, among them a large U.S. delegation and dignitaries

00:14:43.920 from around the world to witness the installation of the new pontiff, who now leads the world's

00:14:49.140 1.4 billion Catholics. A moment from the Pope's homily.

00:14:52.900 I was chosen, without any merit of my own, and now, with fear and trembling, I come to you as a brother

00:15:04.860 who desires to be the servant of your faith and your joy, walking with you on the path of God's love,

00:15:15.120 for he wants us all to be united in one family.

00:15:19.240 Pope Leo, wearing the traditional white papal vestments, a departure from his predecessor,

00:15:24.660 Pope Francis, who chose simpler garments, appearing visibly emotional at times, most notably upon receipt

00:15:30.820 of the Fisherman's Ring, a symbol of the pontiff's authority. The large gold ring, a reference to St.

00:15:36.960 Peter, the first pope, who was a fisherman by trade. According to scripture, Jesus called to him,

00:15:42.380 saying, I will make you a fisher of men. Pope Leo XIV greeting dozens of dignitaries after the mass,

00:15:48.680 including Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Ahead of the visit, Secretary

00:15:54.740 Rubio asked about perceived criticism from the Vatican regarding the Trump administration's

00:15:59.620 immigration policies. Here he is responding. How do you reconcile what the Vatican has said

00:16:04.740 on compassion for migrants with the Trump administration's policies?

00:16:08.240 Well, first of all, the pope is not a political figure. I know he's covered like one, but they're not.

00:16:12.680 They're the earthly head of the Roman Catholic Church. And the church has strong social doctrine

00:16:18.260 teachings. And I think there is not incompatibility. We too are compassionate towards migrants. I would

00:16:22.980 argue there's nothing compassionate about mass migration. I understand there's this temptation to

00:16:26.960 cover the papacy as a political office. It is not a political office. It is a spiritual office.

00:16:31.440 And it is one that has a short social teachings that are aligned with the faith and with the gospel.

00:16:39.140 And but I don't believe those are incompatible with a national policy that shows tries to prevent

00:16:46.280 mass migration. Following the inaugural mass, the pontiff shaking many hands, some visitors bowing

00:16:51.560 and kissing the papal ring. Pope Leo breaking protocol one time to embrace his brother, Louis Prevost.
