00:00:00.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Emily Jashinski, host of After Party, filling in today for
00:00:07.080 Megyn Kelly. It's Monday, September 22nd, 2025, and this is your AM Update.
00:00:12.720 Everything that Turning Point USA built through Charlie's vision and hard work,
00:00:17.660 we will make 10 times greater through the power of his memory.
00:00:21.700 At a packed stadium in Arizona, friends, family, and top White House officials,
00:00:27.240 including President Trump, remember the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk.
00:00:31.680 You should hopefully move on and forget the hate that he spewed every single day.
00:00:37.000 Democrat Congresswoman Ilhan Omar doubles down on hateful comments directed toward Charlie Kirk,
00:00:43.500 and the man accused of shooting up a local ABC station now in federal custody.
00:00:48.940 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.
00:00:52.320 Did you know all chips and fries used to be cooked in tallow up until the 1990s when big
00:01:01.480 corporations switched to cheap processed seed oils? Today, seed oils make up 20% of the average
00:01:07.540 American's daily calories, and recent studies have linked seed oils to metabolic health issues
00:01:13.160 and inflammation in the body. Massa decided to do something about it. They created a tasty and
00:01:20.000 delicious tortilla chip with just three ingredients and no seed oils, organic corn, sea salt, and 100%
00:01:28.180 grass-fed beef tallow. These chips don't only avoid all the bad stuff, they also taste incredible.
00:01:35.400 Massa is crunchier, tastier, and sturdier than other chips by far. The beef tallow makes the chips much
00:01:41.860 more satiating, so you will not find yourself uncomfortably binging and then still feeling hungry
00:01:47.760 afterward. I can attest to all of this, and by the way, all of us love them. The kids and I fight
00:01:52.880 over the Massa bags. Thankfully, they come in like, you can get like a 12-pack, and they're large.
00:01:58.560 They've got great flavors, lime, churro even. I like original, also the white corn. The lime is also
00:02:06.740 delicious. I haven't tried the churro yet. Ready to give Massa a try? Go to massachips.com
00:02:11.980 slash mk and use code mk for 25% off your first order. That's massachips.com slash mk. Code mk when
00:02:19.520 you check out to get 25% off your order. A reported 200,000 people turning out for Charlie
00:02:28.880 Kirk's memorial event at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Two full planes of White House
00:02:35.060 officials, including President Trump and cabinet secretaries, turning out for the event, paying
00:02:40.720 their respects to the man they credit with delivering the youth vote in 2024. The Department
00:02:46.120 of Homeland Security designating the service as a level one event, similar to the Super Bowl.
00:02:55.220 Attendees checkering the stands with red, white, and blue apparel. Thousands of voices joining
00:03:01.180 together in songs of worship throughout the service. More than two dozen speakers, from faith leaders
00:03:06.800 to close friends and employees, cabinet officials, his wife, and new Turning Point CEO, Erica Kirk,
00:03:13.380 and President Trump, delivering moving tributes to Charlie from behind a bulletproof barrier.
00:03:18.980 Amid the grief and gratitude, one refrain rising again and again,
00:03:23.200 well done, good and faithful servant. TPUSA Chief of Staff Mike McCoy, executive producer of the
00:03:30.240 Charlie Kirk Show, Andrew Colvitt, and TPUSA contributor Jack Posobiec, vowing the mission of their dear
00:03:36.540 friend and leader. We'll march on. Eleven days ago, my friend was martyred for using his voice to engage
00:03:44.620 in peaceful dialogue. We are resolved to live free from lies and seek out what is true. We will
00:03:52.000 respectfully, boldly challenge what is accepted by culture in order to seek out what is true and
00:03:59.240 acceptable to God Almighty alone. When he met fancy elites who tried to take him off course and
00:04:06.460 try and tell him what regular people really cared about, he knew better because he knew all of you.
00:04:13.800 He knew he had a secret weapon and it was you and he never forgot about you because he loved you and he
00:04:20.120 respected your wisdom. At a century from now, when they write of the two or three pivotal moments
00:04:28.120 that led to the saving of Western civilization, they will write that the sacrifice of Charles James Kirk was
00:04:41.920 the turning point. And the ugliness that was been revealed by Charlie's murder
00:04:49.720 will be and is already being overcome by the beauty of the outpouring of love and prayer around the world.
00:05:00.520 Seas of a thousand candles that have been litten from coast to coast for Charlie's sacrifice for all
00:05:09.060 of us. We will overcome their evil. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth,
00:05:16.680 and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. honoring Charlie's life's work.
00:05:22.100 But Charlie Kirk was bold. He actively sought out to engage peacefully, respectfully, those who he
00:05:27.960 disagreed with. And he did this on campuses. He did this on podcasts. He did this on radio shows.
00:05:33.640 He did this on television shows. Time and again, he sought to engage those he disagreed with because
00:05:38.440 he understood that we were not created to isolate ourselves from one another. Charlie Kirk did that more
00:05:43.760 than anyone alive in America today is doing. In just 31 years of life, he made a difference.
00:05:52.560 He mattered. And he will matter now more than he ever has before. He was a true believer. Only
00:06:00.720 Christ is king. But over time, he realized, like so many of us have, that this is not a political war.
00:06:07.060 It's not even a cultural war. It's a spiritual war. Faith and family first. There is a God, and as Charlie
00:06:17.240 would say, it is not us. We're sinners saved only by grace in need of the gospel. You see, we always did
00:06:27.320 need less government. But what Charlie understood and infused into his movement is we also needed a lot
00:06:34.420 more God. Charlie had big plans, but God had even bigger plans. He always gave the biggest microphone
00:06:46.900 to the people who were most passionately aligned against him because he believed that we need to
00:06:53.160 talk to each other and that we needed to be able to say what we mean without saying it mean.
00:06:59.340 Donald Trump Jr., for whom Charlie worked as an aide in the 2016 election, and Vice President J.D. Vance,
00:07:06.160 who credits Charlie with so much of his political success, on what comes next in carrying on Charlie's
00:07:12.240 movement. Charlie led the way. His message was clear then, and his message is clear now. We won't back
00:07:23.240 down. We won't be intimidated. But Charlie embodied something at the very core of our movement.
00:07:36.440 When people disagree with us, we don't silence them. We don't destroy them, and we certainly don't sink
00:07:44.960 to violence. We stand tall. And we win with our ideas. He showed all of us how to carry on after his
00:07:54.880 death. You know, Charlie Kirk, he loved history. He devoured the ideas that formed the foundation
00:08:01.460 of our civilization. He stood for a tradition that Socrates established 2,500 years ago to question,
00:08:10.600 to search and to teach. He was Athens and Jerusalem, the city of reason and the city of God in one
00:08:20.900 person. But if he loved those places, they were not his home. America was his home, and he was willing
00:08:30.280 to die for it. In the wake of his death, we have seen some of the very worst parts of humanity.
00:08:37.360 I think he would encourage me to be honest that evil still walks among us, but to address it head
00:08:45.440 on and honestly as the sickness that it is. But I also think he would encourage me, he would encourage
00:08:52.160 all of us to focus on the good. Charlie's widow and new Turning Point USA CEO and board chair,
00:08:58.860 Erica Kirk, delivering powerful remarks on forgiveness and love. On the cross, our Savior said,
00:09:05.960 Father, forgive them for they not know what they do. That man, that young man, I forgive him. I forgive him
00:09:29.140 because it was what Christ did and is what Charlie would do. The answer to hate is not hate. The answer
00:09:41.780 we know from the gospel is love and always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.
00:09:52.100 The world needs Turning Point USA. Every part of our work will become greater. I am tremendously honored
00:10:03.860 to be the new CEO of Turning Point USA. I do not take that lightly. His passion was my passion,
00:10:12.740 and now his mission is my mission. Everything that Turning Point USA built through Charlie's vision
00:10:19.820 and hard work, we will make 10 times greater through the power of his memory. I love you, Charlie, baby.
00:10:29.800 And I will make you proud.
00:10:32.280 President Trump highlighting Charlie's lasting impact on the MAGA movement.
00:10:36.280 He's a martyr now for American freedom. I know I speak for everyone here today when I say that none
00:10:45.620 of us will ever forget Charlie Kirk and neither now will history. I got to know him very well and
00:10:54.880 saw immediately that Charlie was actually a master builder, master builder of people. It was Charlie who
00:11:02.120 helped to help unite MAGA. And you know what M-A-H-A is. He brought together Donald Trump,
00:11:12.040 Bobby Kennedy, right here in the great state of Arizona one year ago. Remember that? What a night,
00:11:20.260 what a day that was.
00:11:21.420 And it was Charlie who was among the first to speak to me about a man from Ohio by the name of
00:11:32.140 J.D. Vince. Charlie didn't just bring young people into the movement. All of a sudden,
00:11:37.900 it started to grow by leaps and bounds by 2024. We want more young people than any Republican candidate
00:11:44.620 in the history of our country, including for the first time, a majority of males under 30. To kill
00:11:51.600 a man like this, he didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve this. Our country didn't deserve this. The
00:11:56.720 assassin failed in his quest because Charlie's message has not been silenced. It now is bigger
00:12:03.300 and better and stronger than ever before. And it's not even close. And it's rare that such a thing
00:12:11.300 happens, but Charlie is bigger today than he was. Think about it. Just two weeks ago.
00:12:17.960 The president concluding the service, inviting Erica back onto the stage as America the Beautiful
00:12:24.160 rang out across the stadium. And on the other side of the moral spectrum,
00:12:30.580 U.S. Congresswoman from Minnesota, Democrat Ilhan Omar, doubling down on the comment she reposted on X
00:12:37.480 just days after Charlie Kirk's assassination. Two days after Kirk was murdered, Omar sharing a video
00:12:43.720 accusing those of mourning Charlie of, quote, using his death to further their Christo-fascist
00:12:50.320 agenda. The narrator compared Charlie to Dr. Frankenstein with his monster shooting him in
00:12:56.880 the neck. The deranged monologue goes on from there, though the comments are not worth repeating any
00:13:01.980 further. CNN's Caitlin Collins on Friday offering Omar the chance to clarify or retract those
00:13:08.860 remarks. Omar instead saying this. People found it jarring to hear such criticism of that in the
00:13:16.160 immediate aftermath of what I what I find jarring is that there's so many people willing to excuse the
00:13:22.840 most reprehensible things that he said, that they agree with that, that they're willing to have
00:13:29.180 monuments for him, that they want to create a day to honor him and that they want to produce
00:13:35.200 resolutions in the House of Congress honoring his life and legacy. It is one thing to care about his
00:13:44.020 life because obviously so many people loved him, including his children and wife. But I am not going to sit
00:13:51.500 here and be judged for not wanting to honor any legacy this man has left behind. That should be in
00:14:00.320 the dustpan of history. And we should hopefully move on and forget the hate that he spewed every single
00:14:07.400 day. These comments delivered hours after the Congresswoman voted against a resolution honoring the life
00:14:14.300 and legacy of Charlie Kirk. 58 Democrats voted nay and 38 voted present. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
00:14:22.480 saying on the House floor, the resolution, quote, underscores the majority's recklessness by choosing to author
00:14:29.040 this condemnation and honoring on a purely partisan basis. The resolution, a symbolic gesture, condemning Charlie's
00:14:37.320 assassination and all forms of political violence, commending law enforcement's actions and finding the suspect
00:14:43.880 responsible for the killing, extending condolences to Charlie's family, honoring Charlie's life and
00:14:49.460 leadership and calling upon all Americans to reject political violence and recommit to respectful
00:14:55.720 debate, uphold American values and respect one another as fellow Americans. Coming up, a man in federal
00:15:04.080 custody after allegedly shooting at a local ABC affiliate in Sacramento, his apparent social media posts
00:15:10.620 pointing to a likely motive. And a New Hampshire country club shot up over the weekend, the shooter
00:15:16.660 allegedly shouting, free Palestine.
00:15:24.040 I've been talking a lot about Riverbend Ranch lately because their steaks are amazing. Riverbend Ranch has
00:15:29.600 taken black Angus beef to a whole new level. For the last 35 years, Riverbend Ranch has been creating a very
00:15:36.300 elite Angus herd by using ultrasound to select genetically superior cattle with a focus on flavor
00:15:42.960 and tenderness. When you purchase from Riverbend Ranch, you are not only supporting the 64 cowboys and
00:15:48.500 cowgirls and their families who work on that ranch, but you're also supporting over 260 other U.S.
00:15:53.680 ranches and the hundreds of American families who work on them. It is born in the USA, raised in the USA and
00:16:00.000 processed in the USA. It's aged to perfection for 21 days and shipped directly from the ranch to your home.
00:16:06.300 This is not your average black Angus beef. So order from Riverbend Ranch dot com. Use the promo code
00:16:12.780 Megan and that'll get you 20 bucks off your first order. And let me know what you think. Riverbend
00:16:17.720 Ranch dot com promo code Megan.
00:16:23.120 The man accused of firing a gun at a Sacramento ABC affiliate arrested by the FBI on Saturday night
00:16:30.520 around 1 30 p.m. on Friday. Someone firing multiple times into ABC 10 in a drive by shooting. The building
00:16:38.220 struck three times was occupied at the time of the shooting. Tecna, the company that owns the station,
00:16:45.260 reporting no one was harmed. Authorities who identified the suspect's vehicle arresting 64 year old
00:16:51.620 Annable Hernandez Santana early Saturday morning. Hernandez Santana charged with assault with a deadly weapon,
00:16:57.940 negligent discharge of a firearm and shooting into an occupied building. The suspect booked into
00:17:04.700 Sacramento County jail. Bail set at two hundred thousand dollars. He was released later that
00:17:11.060 afternoon. Hours after posting bail, the FBI arresting Hernandez Santana on probable cause for violating a
00:17:18.700 federal statute involving willful or malicious interference with radio communications of a station licensed by the
00:17:26.040 government. The shooting comes just days after Disney's ABC indefinitely suspended Jimmy Kimmel's late
00:17:32.100 night program in the wake of vile, inaccurate statements made by Kimmel about Charlie Kirk's death.
00:17:38.560 One day prior to the shooting, that same station, the site of a protest over ABC's decision to pull
00:17:45.360 Kimmel's show. Local authorities say a motive for the Sacramento shooting is still under investigation.
00:17:51.140 In the meantime, Variety reporting on a social media account matching the suspect's name,
00:17:57.000 discovering, quote, a steady stream of anti-Trump commentary. One post from July reading, quote,
00:18:03.980 the authoritarian oligarchy is now complete. CBS Plus caving big law firms in D.C., the subservient
00:18:10.620 FBI and AG, university presidents stepping down, fanboys, SCOTUS, public radio, ice goons.
00:18:17.300 We are going to have to fight like hell. Rules don't apply. If election was stolen, fight.
00:18:23.960 This past Thursday, another post reading, quote, where is a good heart attack when we need it the
00:18:29.080 most? Please join in my thoughts and prayers for the physical demise of our fearful leader.
00:18:34.480 Charming stuff. Hernandez Santana is due in federal court this afternoon and in Sacramento Superior Court
00:18:40.660 on Tuesday afternoon. One person killed and two wounded when a shooter opened fire at a New Hampshire
00:18:48.380 country club. A witness saying he heard the shooter yell, quote, the children are safe and free Palestine
00:18:54.260 before opening fire at the Sky Meadow Country Club on Saturday night. The deceased victim, 59-year-old
00:19:01.000 Robert Stephen de Chessere, attending a wedding at the club. His mother telling local station WMUR,
00:19:08.560 De Chessere threw himself in front of his wife and daughter to protect them from the gunman.
00:19:14.740 Police arresting 23-year-old suspect Hunter Nadeau at the scene. One witness telling local
00:19:20.380 outlet WCVB that a man hit the shooter over the head with a chair, likely saving more people.
00:19:27.500 Investigators saying they are still working to determine the motive, noting no apparent
00:19:32.180 connection between the suspect and the deceased. New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella
00:19:37.000 saying, Nadeau previously worked at the country club but has not been employed there for more
00:19:41.980 than a year. AG Formella addressed the Free Palestine reporting saying, quote, it appears to us that those
00:19:48.540 statements were intended to create chaos during the event and that they don't give us much a sense
00:19:54.160 of his motive. One victim, an unidentified employee, is hospitalized in stable condition.
00:20:00.460 The status of the other victim is not yet clear. Nadeau is charged with second-degree murder.
00:20:06.700 He is due in court later today. AG Formella saying additional charges will likely be brought in this
00:20:12.260 case. That'll do it for your AM update. I'm Emily Jashinsky, host of After Party. Megan is back
