The Megyn Kelly Show - Chief Justice's Rare Statement on Impeachment, Astronauts Back, Gaza Strikes Resume： AM Update 3⧸19

00:00:00.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Megan Kelly. It's Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, and this is your

00:00:08.160 AM Update. That is not something that a district court judge has any authority whatsoever to

00:00:15.020 interfere with. As President Trump endorses efforts to impeach left-wing D.C. judges blocking

00:00:20.600 his agenda, Chief Justice John Roberts makes a rare, unsolicited public statement. I authorized

00:00:26.700 yesterday the renewal of military action against Hamas. Israel resumes military action in Gaza as

00:00:33.360 President Trump secures a key breakthrough in Ukrainian peace negotiations and a long-awaited

00:00:38.900 promotion for the IRS whistleblowers who were penalized for exposing concerns in the Hunter

00:00:45.480 Biden tax investigation. Yay! All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.

00:00:50.840 The IRS is the largest collection agency in the world, and with April 15th fast approaching,

00:00:58.080 it's more aggressive than ever. If you owe back taxes or have unfiled returns, waiting is not an

00:01:03.120 option. April 15th could mark another tax year that has passed you by. So the smart move is to get ahead

00:01:08.120 of it now, but listen, never contact the IRS alone. Instead, you could let the experts at Tax Network

00:01:13.720 USA handle it for you. Why? Well, not all tax resolution companies are the same. Tax Network

00:01:19.340 USA has a preferred direct line to the IRS so they know exactly which agents to deal with and which

00:01:25.000 ones to avoid. With proven strategies to settle tax problems in your favor, whether you owe $10,000

00:01:30.580 or $10 million, Tax Network USA's attorneys and negotiators have already resolved over $1 billion in tax

00:01:36.520 debt. Speak with one of their strategists today for free and don't let the IRS control your future.

00:01:42.240 Call 1-800-958-1000 or visit TNUSA.com slash Megan. That's TNUSA.com slash Megan. April 15th is just

00:01:50.740 around the corner. Act now before the IRS acts first.

00:01:57.480 The defining story of President Trump's second term, the ongoing incredible battle between his

00:02:04.300 administration and the courts over the limits of executive power. A wave of court orders blocking

00:02:10.800 executive actions has been met with congressional Republicans now launching impeachment efforts

00:02:15.920 against some of the judges responsible. On Tuesday, Texas Congressman Brandon Gill filing articles of

00:02:22.080 impeachment against D.C. District Court Judge James Boasberg. Judge Boasberg temporarily blocked the

00:02:28.600 Trump administration from using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport suspected Trenda Aragua gang members.

00:02:36.900 President Trump lending support to the articles of impeachment, writing on Truth Social, quote,

00:02:42.020 this radical left lunatic of a judge, a troublemaker, an agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein

00:02:48.640 Obama, was not elected president. This judge, just like many of the crooked judges I am forced to 0.98

00:02:54.480 appear before, should be impeached. Chief Justice John Roberts wading into the issue with a rare public

00:03:00.700 statement on Tuesday afternoon. The chief justice writing, for more than two centuries, it has been

00:03:06.300 established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial

00:03:11.860 decision. The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose. The DOJ is currently locked in the

00:03:19.440 appeals process fighting lawsuits that allege executive overreach. Judge Boasberg drawing prosecutors into a

00:03:26.140 related legal battle questioning whether they violated his Saturday order demanding the return of two

00:03:33.160 planes deporting Trenda Aragua members to El Salvador. The Trump administration, backed by Supreme Court

00:03:40.180 precedent, asserting these courts have no jurisdiction over the president's ability to deport illegal alien

00:03:46.460 invaders. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller making the case in a contentious interview

00:03:51.580 on CNN. The Alien Enemies Act, which was passed into law by the founding generation of this country,

00:03:59.920 was written explicitly to give the president the authority to repel an alien invasion of the United

00:04:07.340 States. That is not something that a district court judge has any authority whatsoever to interfere with.

00:04:14.700 In a separate case, a different federal judge stepping in to block another key Trump initiative,

00:04:20.220 realigning foreign aid with America First priorities. On Tuesday afternoon, U.S. District Judge Theodore

00:04:26.840 Chung, an Obama appointee, ordering DOJ to reinstate access to email and other electronic systems

00:04:33.800 for all U.S. AID employees and contractors, finding that Elon Musk and DOJ overstepped their authority as

00:04:42.180 non-confirmed executive operatives. Judge Chung writing, quote,

00:04:46.640 they deprived the public's elected representatives in Congress of their constitutional authority to

00:04:52.360 decide whether, when, and how to close down an agency created by Congress. Judge Chung did not block

00:04:59.080 the mass termination of USAID contracts and employees. And last week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio

00:05:05.380 announced the cancellation of 83 percent of USAID programs, with the remainder moved under the State

00:05:11.840 Department. And yet another leftist judge, Anna Reyes, a Biden appointee, last night blocked President 1.00

00:05:18.940 Trump's transgender military ban, rejecting the Pentagon's justification that it needs the ban to

00:05:25.160 ensure military readiness by saying military leaders have long used that excuse, quote, to deny

00:05:32.540 marginalized persons the privilege of serving. Judge Reyes, who previously stated that the idea of

00:05:39.200 two sexes is not, quote, biologically correct, suggesting she felt that the former Biden chairman

00:05:47.880 of the Joint Chiefs stellar military career was a better military resource for her than the current

00:05:54.840 Secretary of Defense and his opinions, who she erroneously suggested had, quote, no prior deployments

00:06:02.180 aside from, quote, an early military career prior to his TV stint. In fact, Pete Hegseth was deployed to

00:06:11.040 Gitmo, Afghanistan and Iraq. The DOJ filing a formal misconduct complaint against Judge Reyes with the DC

00:06:19.340 Circuit Court of Appeals. It also says it will appeal her decision on the transgender ban.

00:06:24.940 On Tuesday evening, astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore returning to Earth nine months after their planned

00:06:34.760 eight-day mission on the International Space Station began. The return capsule safely splashing down off the

00:06:41.140 coast of Florida, first greeted by a pod of dolphins. Their original mission marking the first manned flight of a

00:06:47.940 Boeing Starliner to the International Space Station. The astronauts return nixed by NASA due to safety concerns over

00:06:55.680 helium leaks and thruster malfunctions on the vessel. In August 2024, NASA officials announcing the Starliner would

00:07:02.520 return to Earth unoccupied and that the astronauts would eventually return home on another vessel. NASA contracts with

00:07:09.920 Boeing and Elon Musk's SpaceX to ferry crews and supplies to and from the ISS. Mr. Musk telling Joe Rogan he

00:07:17.560 offered SpaceX's services to retrieve the crew, but the Biden administration rejected the proposal.

00:07:24.380 It ended up being like this political football, sort of hotly contested topic. We offered to bring

00:07:30.860 them back early. This offer was rejected by the Biden administration. Why? For political reasons.

00:07:37.300 That's so crazy. There's no way that they're going to make anyone who's supporting Trump look good.

00:07:42.200 NASA disputing claims the astronauts were left in space for political reasons.

00:07:45.960 They say Sunni Williams and Butch Wilmore were simply folded into a new crew rotation that arrived on

00:07:52.380 the space station last September for budgetary reasons. Israel resuming military strikes on the

00:08:01.000 Hamas terrorist organization after two weeks of failed negotiations to secure the remaining hostages

00:08:06.320 in Gaza. Hamas was willing to release all remaining hostages, but only if Israel fully withdraws from

00:08:13.540 Gaza. The Israelis refusing to withdraw unless Hamas is no longer in power. Israeli Prime Minister

00:08:20.240 Benjamin Netanyahu urging Palestinian civilians to move out of harm's way, laying the blame of any

00:08:26.080 civilian casualties squarely on Hamas. In recent weeks, President Trump fully endorsing any measures

00:08:32.040 Israel deems necessary to secure the return of its citizens. An Israeli spokesman outlining their new

00:08:38.200 plan for securing peace and the return of the hostages. The IDF is striking Hamas terrorist targets

00:08:44.900 across the Gaza Strip, aiming to achieve the war's objectives, which include the release of all 0.90

00:08:52.960 our hostages, the dismantling of Hamas military and governmental infrastructure, and the removal of the

00:09:02.620 terrorist threat from Gaza to Israel's security and its citizens. 59 hostages remain in Gaza. The IDF

00:09:10.380 believes only 24 of them are still alive, including American citizen Idan Alexander. Coming up, President

00:09:18.520 Trump achieves a significant breakthrough on Ukrainian peace negotiations, as well as the broader possibility

00:09:24.120 for peace in the Middle East. And a long-awaited promotion for the IRS whistleblowers who were

00:09:30.680 penalized for exposing concerns in the Hunter Biden tax investigation. All that and more in just a moment

00:10:47.940 President Trump achieving a significant breakthrough in brokering a possible ceasefire in Ukraine.

00:10:56.820 In the second phone call between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin,

00:11:00.940 Mr. Putin agreeing to halt attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure for 30 days. The two countries

00:11:07.580 are now focusing on brokering a ceasefire in the Black Sea, then ultimately a full ceasefire

00:11:13.760 and permanent peace. That's the hope. This next phase of negotiations beginning immediately in

00:11:19.500 the Middle East. The White House readout of the call also stating both sides agreeing on potential

00:11:24.000 cooperation in the Middle East. Presidents Trump and Putin reportedly agreeing on the need to

00:11:29.600 stop proliferation of strategic weapons in the region, like long-range missiles and nukes.

00:11:36.380 Since resuming office, President Trump telling reporters on multiple occasions,

00:11:39.600 he aims to eventually convince all world leaders to reduce strategic weapons stockpiles.

00:11:46.100 It's just bad that everybody has to spend all this money on something that if it's used,

00:11:50.500 it's probably the end of the world. I'm going to meet with China and I'm going to meet with Russia

00:11:55.320 and we're going to see if we can de-escalate it, if we can bring it down military, especially

00:11:59.800 as it pertains to nuclear. President Putin also agreeing the Iranians should never be in a position 1.00

00:12:06.160 to destroy Israel, signaling a potential shift in Moscow's position on Iranian military ambitions,

00:12:12.460 though the extent of their commitment remains to be seen.

00:12:17.860 The IRS whistleblowers who investigated Hunter Biden for tax evasion getting a promotion after

00:12:24.160 facing years of professional retaliation. In the spring of 2023, criminal investigator Joseph

00:12:31.000 Ziegler and Supervisory Special Agent Gary Shapley came forward with allegations that DOJ was working

00:12:37.960 to protect Hunter Biden from a tax fraud investigation. The agents were removed from the case after

00:12:44.740 reporting the DOJ's obstruction to their bosses at the IRS. In September 2024, Hunter Biden ultimately

00:12:51.380 pleaded guilty to nine charges of tax evasion. Last month, the Office of Special Counsel

00:12:57.220 found agents Shapley and Ziegler were wrongly retaliated against by the IRS for going public

00:13:03.620 with their allegations. On Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Scott Besant telling Fox Business the agents are

00:13:09.560 receiving a long overdue promotion. I went and decided I would bring them into Treasury, give them a year

00:13:18.100 to investigate the wrongdoing that's going on at the IRS, and then they will go back in. Mr.

00:13:26.020 Shaftley will serve as the senior deputy for investigation and enforcement. So we'll have

00:13:34.280 them in Treasury, we'll learn what's been going on at the IRS, what's been wrong, how could this Hunter

00:13:40.460 Biden nonsense have happened, and we're going to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone again, whether

00:13:45.900 they're Republicans, Democrats, or independents. The agent's investigation into Hunter Biden originating

00:13:52.020 in 2018. Mr. Biden's name was found in connection with an FBI investigation into a foreign pornography

00:13:58.120 website, subsequent digging determining Mr. Biden's habit of failing to file his taxes at all or improperly

00:14:05.640 reporting his income. Agents Ziegler and Shapley testifying that as Joe Biden's 2020 presidential

00:14:11.660 campaign gained momentum, their investigation faced increasing interference from their IRS and DOJ

00:14:17.680 supervisors. The agents alleged they were denied access to certain financial records. They were

00:14:23.060 blocked from executing search warrants and prevented from interviewing key witnesses, including Hunter

00:14:28.960 Biden. Agent Shapley telling congressional investigators they were explicitly ordered not to ask witnesses

00:14:35.080 about the big guy or dad, which they believe to be a direct reference to Joe Biden. The agent's

00:14:41.340 testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee and the Oversight Committee, forcing the investigation

00:14:45.860 into public view, Justice Hunter Biden was preparing to accept a sweetheart plea deal from prosecutors.

00:14:52.840 In July of 2023, Agent Shapley explaining on The Megyn Kelly Show why he and Agent Ziegler felt compelled to go

00:15:00.180 public with their testimony. The 300 million Americans out there that are paying their taxes today,

00:15:06.240 you know, when they tune in, you know, Democrats said, you know, I don't know why I'm here, you know,

00:15:09.860 we're confused why we're here. Well, those Americans aren't confused why we're here because, you know,

00:15:14.660 there's two IRS agents, you know, standing up and saying, this person got preferential treatment

00:15:19.860 and, you know, you, if it was a business owner on the corner, he wouldn't have gotten, he or she

00:15:25.860 wouldn't have gotten that special treatment and we probably would have been in jail already.

00:15:30.100 Their disclosures of DOJ interference derailing the sweetheart deal, leading to further legal scrutiny

00:15:35.320 and ultimately Hunter Biden's guilty plea to multiple tax evasion charges in 2024. In December,

00:15:42.640 of course, President Joe Biden wiping it all away with an unprecedented pardon for his son,

00:15:49.160 Hunter, covering all potential criminal offenses dating back to 2014.
