The Megyn Kelly Show - Markets Rip on Tariff News, Judge Grants AP WH Access, DNI Launches Intel Task Force： AM Update 4⧸10

00:00:00.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Megyn Kelly. It's Thursday, April 10th, 2025, and this is your

00:00:08.080 AM Update.

00:00:09.260 China wants to make a deal. They just don't know how quite to go about it. 0.96

00:00:13.180 President Trump turns up the heat on China and sends markets soaring with a pause on

00:00:18.500 tariffs for cooperating nations.

00:00:21.080 My Republican colleagues are here using today to continue pushing this false narrative of

00:00:26.300 sanctuary cities harboring criminals.

00:00:27.880 House Democrats attempt to deflect and distract from harm caused by illegal immigrants in 1.00

00:00:33.700 sanctuary cities as the Trump administration celebrates a historic drop in illegal border

00:00:39.400 crossings. A federal judge orders the Trump administration to restore exclusive White

00:00:44.560 House access to the Associated Press. And Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard creates a

00:00:51.000 task force to expose the skeletons from within the intel community's closet.

00:00:56.000 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.

00:00:59.520 The IRS is the largest collection agency in the world. And with April 15th fast approaching,

00:01:07.080 it's more aggressive than ever. If you owe back taxes or have unfiled returns, waiting is not an

00:01:12.100 option. April 15th could mark another tax year that has passed you by. So the smart move is to get ahead

00:01:17.100 of it now. But listen, never contact the IRS alone. Instead, you could let the experts at Tax

00:01:22.460 Network USA handle it for you. Why? Well, not all tax resolution companies are the same. Tax Network USA

00:01:28.660 has a preferred direct line to the IRS, so they know exactly which agents to deal with and which

00:01:34.000 ones to avoid. With proven strategies to settle tax problems in your favor, whether you owe 10 grand or

00:01:39.860 10 million, Tax Network USA's attorneys and negotiators have already resolved over 1 billion in tax

00:01:45.520 debt. Speak with one of their strategists today for free and don't let the IRS control your future.

00:01:52.000 Call 1-800-958-1000 or visit TNUSA.com slash Megan. That's TNUSA.com slash Megan. April 15th is just

00:01:59.900 around the corner. Act now before the IRS acts first. The stock market posting its third largest gain

00:02:09.900 in post-World War II history. The Dow surging by 2,900 points, a 7.8% increase, its largest percentage

00:02:18.460 gain since March 2020. The S&P 500 soaring to 5,956, a 10% increase. The Nasdaq closing just above 17,000.

00:02:28.920 That's the largest one-day jump since January 2001. The incredible rise coming on the announcement

00:02:35.060 of a 90-day pause on tariffs for all countries who did not retaliate against the president's

00:02:41.320 Liberation Day announcement, hiking tariffs. For weeks, the president saying the tariffs would be

00:02:46.920 permanent, sending markets into the red. Mr. Trump discussing the stunning reversal from the Oval.

00:02:53.340 We don't want to hurt countries that don't need to be hurt, and they all want to negotiate.

00:02:58.280 The only problem is, you know, you can only do so many at one time. It's like,

00:03:01.480 it's, we want to do it right. We want to get it right. We want to take care of them, but we have

00:03:07.380 to take care of our countries. And we're happy about it. I didn't know it would have that kind

00:03:11.700 of an impact, but it's, you know, I think you have the biggest increase in the history of the stock

00:03:16.500 market. That's pretty good. One country not getting any relief on tariffs is China. President

00:03:22.380 Trump announcing an increase on our Chinese tariffs to 125%. The CCP previously announcing a

00:03:30.620 retaliatory increase on U.S. tariffs to 84%. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent telling reporters

00:03:37.440 this was the strategy all along. And all this was, again, this was driven by the president's strategy.

00:03:44.880 He and I had a long talk on Sunday, and this was his strategy all along. And that, you know,

00:03:51.840 you might even say that he goaded China into a bad position. They responded. They have shown 0.54

00:03:59.740 themselves to the world to be the bad actors. And we are willing to cooperate with our allies

00:04:06.280 and with our trading partners who did not retaliate. It wasn't a hard message. Don't

00:04:12.780 retaliate. Things will turn out well. Mr. Trump outside the White House saying he believes China

00:04:17.880 will come to the table. China was by far the biggest abuser in history and others also, but

00:04:24.480 somebody had to do it. They had to stop because it was not sustainable. Last year, China made 0.96

00:04:30.360 one trillion dollars off trade with the United States. You know, look, nothing's over yet, but we

00:04:36.060 have a tremendous amount of spirit from other countries, including China. China wants to make

00:04:41.020 a deal. They just don't know how quite to go about it. We have many other countries, as you know,

00:04:45.960 many more than 75, and they all want to come. They want to come here or they'll go to commerce or

00:04:51.480 they'll go to treasury. So we'll see how it all works out. I think it's going to work out amazing.

00:04:55.960 China was admitted to the World Trade Organization in 2001 under favorable terms designed to advance

00:05:01.460 its developing economy into a global player. At the time, Western leaders believed integration

00:05:06.840 into the global economy would encourage the democratization of China. The opposite proved true. 0.90

00:05:13.360 China growing more authoritarian, exploiting tariffs and intellectual property loopholes,

00:05:18.020 leapfrogging into the world's second largest economy and evolving into the primary adversary

00:05:23.280 of the U.S. Billionaire entrepreneur Kevin O'Leary telling CNN President Trump is not going far enough

00:05:30.220 to punish the Chinese. 104% tariffs in China are not enough. I'm advocating 400%. I do business in China. 0.98

00:05:39.080 They don't play by the rules. They've been in the WTO for decades. They have never abided by any of the

00:05:44.080 rules they agreed to when they came in for decades. They cheat. They steal. They steal IP. I can't

00:05:49.220 litigate in their courts. They take product technology. They steal it. They manufacture it and

00:05:55.160 sell it back here. Finally, an administration that puts up and says enough. 400% tariffs tomorrow morning.

00:06:05.220 He'll tell you why. She can only stay the supreme leader if people are employed. If we wipe out 0.99

00:06:12.300 any business there because we are still 39% of all consumables on Earth and 25% of the world's GDP,

00:06:20.380 America is the number one economy on Earth with all the cards. We will not have that forever.

00:06:25.060 It's time to squeeze Chinese heads into the wall now. 1.00

00:06:28.940 The Trump administration ratcheting up pressure on illegal aliens to self-deport,

00:06:38.420 fining illegal immigrants $998 for each day they remain in the U.S. illegally.

00:06:44.760 Reuters reporting the administration is planning to apply the fines retroactively up to five years,

00:06:50.640 totaling more than a million dollars. The administration offering benefits to illegal aliens 0.82

00:06:55.320 who choose to self-deport via the CBP Home app, allowing them to keep money earned in the U.S.

00:07:01.780 and maintain eligibility to return legally. DHS in March recording the lowest border crossings in

00:07:08.200 history. Daily apprehensions dropping by 95% compared to the prior year.

00:07:14.060 President Trump highlighting the achievement on Tuesday night.

00:07:16.460 During the same period last year, Joe Biden released more than 184,000 illegal aliens

00:07:23.320 into our country. Think of it. Many of these people were from jails and mental institutions,

00:07:29.020 as I said. Since my inauguration, we've released a grand total of nine. Nine. Nine.

00:07:37.800 And they were all, in all cases, medical emergencies. But we will continue to deport these monsters 0.76

00:07:45.520 under the Alien Enemies Act. Think of that. Alien Enemies Act. Can you believe it?

00:07:51.800 On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Integrity, Security, and Enforcement

00:07:56.840 holding a hearing on sanctuary jurisdictions, inviting witnesses negatively impacted by the

00:08:02.980 sanctuary policies, which prevent state or local officials from cooperating with ICE

00:08:07.600 to safely remove illegal aliens. Democrats on the committee using their time to attack

00:08:12.800 their Republican colleagues. Ranking member of the subcommittee, Washington Congresswoman

00:08:17.060 Primaeja Jayapal, beginning her remarks with this.

00:08:20.320 Perhaps the chairman would have this level of concern for the victims of senseless gun violence

00:08:26.140 across this country. 47,000 people who were killed from gun violence just in one year alone.

00:08:33.960 Or perhaps the chairman would have this level of concern for the families of law enforcement

00:08:39.180 that were killed during the January 6th insurrection on the United States Capitol.

00:08:44.840 The only person killed on January 6th was Ashley Babbitt, an unarmed protester shot by Capitol

00:08:51.000 Police. A medical examiner ruling Officer Brian Sicknick passed away due to natural causes.

00:08:57.520 Four officers later died by suicide. Democrat Congresswoman from Texas, Jasmine Crockett, 0.83

00:09:03.280 making this claim.

00:09:04.020 My Republican colleagues are here using today to continue pushing this false narrative of

00:09:09.720 sanctuary cities harboring criminals. Yet right here in D.C., we have a 34-count felon being

00:09:14.660 harbored in the White House. The hypocrisy coming from your side of the aisle over concerns regarding 0.81

00:09:19.500 lawlessness is outrageous. Right now, House Republicans are conducting town halls with constituents 0.53

00:09:24.940 lying about our legal system. That, quote, there is no due process if you come here illegally

00:09:31.320 because you violated the law. That immigrants, quote, are not entitled to due process. 1.00

00:09:36.260 Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that.

00:09:38.860 Congresswoman Crockett obfuscating the reality with her statement. 0.98

00:09:42.260 Illegal immigrants are entitled to due process, though protections afforded to illegals 0.95

00:09:46.580 are more limited. Illegal immigrants are not entitled to a public defender, 1.00

00:09:51.020 as proceedings are civil, not criminal. There's no jury trial. Federal agents present evidence

00:09:56.300 to an immigration judge under a lower standard of proof.

00:09:58.980 The Sanctuary City hearing held just days after authorities charged a 43-year-old illegal immigrant

00:10:05.280 living in Sanctuary City, Los Angeles, with murdering a 13-year-old boy. The suspect also

00:10:11.220 accused of sexually assaulting multiple teen boys, authorities now seeking out other possible victims.

00:10:18.200 Coming up, a federal judge orders the Trump administration to restore exclusive access to

00:10:23.580 the Associated Press. And Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, creates a task force

00:10:29.080 to expose the skeletons from within the intel community's closet.

00:10:34.760 As Americans are getting inspired to make their health and fitness a priority,

00:11:50.580 Federal judge on Tuesday ordering the White House to restore full presidential access to the

00:11:55.320 Associated Press. The White House banning the AP from so-called pool access in February,

00:12:00.780 following the outlet's refusal to accept the Gulf of America renaming. Pool access is a more exclusive

00:12:06.440 group of reporters granted access to tight spaces like Air Force One and the Oval Office.

00:12:11.460 The AP maintains the ability to cover the White House from the briefing room.

00:12:15.820 U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, writing, quote,

00:12:19.960 if the government opens its doors to some journalists, it cannot then shut those doors

00:12:24.200 to other journalists because of their viewpoints. The judge going on to say, quote,

00:12:28.460 the AP is not necessarily entitled to the first-in-line-every-time permanent press pool access

00:12:34.400 it enjoyed under the White House Correspondents Association, but it cannot be treated worse than its

00:12:39.500 peer wire service either. Since the beginning of the spat, Press Secretary Caroline Levitt taking

00:12:44.640 control over pool coverage from the White House Correspondents Association, opening up access to

00:12:49.500 less traditional outlets. Judge McFadden allowing the feds one week to respond before this order goes

00:12:55.660 into effect. The New York Times reporting Wednesday, pronouns in bio? You may not get a response from

00:13:02.180 the White House. The Times writing, quote, on at least three recent occasions, senior Trump press aides

00:13:07.300 have refused to engage with reporters' questions because the journalists listed identifying pronouns

00:13:12.760 in their email signatures. Press Secretary Caroline Levitt confirming to the Times, quote,

00:13:17.680 any reporter who chooses to put their preferred pronouns in their bio clearly does not care about

00:13:22.500 biological reality or truth and therefore cannot be trusted to write an honest story. President Trump

00:13:28.020 banned the practice of including pronouns in federal employees' email signatures. Vice President Kamala

00:13:33.040 Harris embracing the practice during her time in office. I am Kamala Harris. My pronouns are she and

00:13:39.040 her. I am a woman sitting at the table wearing a blue suit. Several high-profile progressive Democrats

00:13:45.680 removing pronouns from their bios following President Trump's re-election, including Ms. Harris, AOC,

00:13:51.880 Senator Elizabeth Warren, and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. As for me, I have the same

00:13:57.820 policy as the White House. No pronouns in your email or no response from me. Director of National

00:14:08.160 Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, announcing on Tuesday the creation of a new task force. DNI Gabbard saying

00:14:13.820 in a statement, quote, in order to rebuild trust in the intelligence community, I established the

00:14:18.740 Director's Initiatives Group to bring about transparency and accountability across the IC. We are already

00:14:25.880 identifying wasteful spending in real time, streamlining outdated processes, reviewing documents for

00:14:31.420 declassification, and leading ongoing efforts to root out abuses of power and politicization. This is the

00:14:38.780 latest effort in the Trump administration's push to lift the shroud of secrecy on the nation's intelligence

00:14:44.140 agencies. In January, President Trump ordering the release of the JFK, RFK, and MLK files. President Trump's

00:14:51.780 issues with the intel community, ranging back to the now-debunked hoax alleging Russian President

00:14:57.620 Vladimir Putin worked with President Trump to steal the 2016 election. The accusations consuming Mr.

00:15:04.060 Trump's first term in office, resulting in millions of taxpayer dollars, spent on numerous investigations.

00:15:10.040 In the years since, counter-investigations proving the intel community was aware of the dubious origins of the

00:15:16.520 Steele dossier, opposition research funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign, and used it anyway to obtain secret

00:15:23.000 warrants allowing the FBI to spy on the Trump campaign. The task force will also look into domestic

00:15:29.280 surveillance conducted by the Biden administration. In May of 2023, an FBI whistleblower testifying in front of Congress

00:15:36.340 about orders to stop investigating child pornography cases and to start looking into parents at school board meetings who

00:15:44.500 objected to mask mandates, DEI initiatives, gender radicalism, or, yes, who had the temerity to go over

00:15:53.220 their allotted time to speak at school board meetings. Not kidding.

00:15:57.980 Mr. Friend, you ever been to a school board meeting?

00:16:00.500 Yes, I have.

00:16:01.160 FBI ever sent you to the parking lot of a school board meeting?

00:16:03.780 Yes, they have.

00:16:04.620 And in the parking lot of a school board meeting where the FBI sent you, you were taking down information

00:16:09.820 regarding people's license plates?

00:16:11.640 That's correct.

00:16:12.080 Now, it wasn't the first time you'd been to a school board meeting, was it?

00:16:15.200 No, I went on my own as a private citizen.

00:16:17.140 As a parent?

00:16:18.300 Yes.

00:16:19.040 And so there you were. It must have been quite an interesting perspective. There you were taking down

00:16:23.440 the information of people, parents attending school board meetings on behest of the FBI,

00:16:29.300 and you had been one of those parents at a school board meeting. How did that feel?

00:16:33.420 Well, after I attended privately, my colleagues teased me that they were probably going to start

00:16:37.040 investigating me. AOC busted flying first class to a Bernie Sanders fight the oligarchy rally last

00:16:47.940 month. The New York Post obtaining a quickly snapped pic of the unaware congresswoman settling 0.80

00:16:53.340 into her first class seat. The flyer who snapped the photo telling the Post, quote,

00:16:57.940 nothing says power to the people like ignoring voters looking to say hello and reclining in first

00:17:03.600 class while tweeting about income inequality. A first class jet blue seat on that route

00:17:09.000 reportedly costs upward of $1,100.
