00:02:14.700 it's Republican Jack Chattarelli, a former businessman and state assemblyman against

00:02:19.460 Democratic Congresswoman Mikey Sherrill. Axios reporting over the weekend that Trump's political

00:02:24.980 operation is spending over $1 million in each state to target Trump voters who usually sit out

00:02:31.900 off your elections. Pro-Trump entities, including the Republican National Committee,

00:02:36.660 pouring over lists of voters the Trump campaign identified as being less dependable ahead of the

00:02:42.760 2024 elections, operatives reportedly attempting to persuade them to vote through phone banking

00:02:48.720 and digital ads. Mr. Trump himself has not campaigned on the ground in either New Jersey

00:02:54.220 or Virginia. Sometimes that can be unhelpful if the state is dominated by the other party.

00:02:59.820 But last week, he participated in a tele-rally with current Virginia governor,

00:03:04.340 Republican Glenn Youngkin, aimed at turning out voters in the state. Mr. Youngkin's seen as a

00:03:10.280 formidable Republican on the national stage, but the Virginia Constitution prohibits consecutive

00:03:15.660 terms for the governor position. Mr. Trump on October 24th holding a similar tele-rally for

00:03:21.860 Jack Chattarelli, whom he officially endorsed. The Democrats turning to who else? Former President

00:03:28.580 Barack Obama, who hit the campaign trail Saturday in both Virginia and New Jersey.

00:04:37.140 Jay Jones, the Democrat Party's nominee for attorney general in Virginia,

00:04:41.360 in a surprise appearance opening the event, making no mention of his shocking text message

00:04:46.720 scandal that has upended his campaign. As first reported by National Review last month,

00:04:52.080 Jones sent texts where he fantasized about the murder of a Republican colleague

00:04:56.960 and the death of that colleague's children. Jones Saturday attacking, all together now,

00:05:03.240 President Donald Trump, as well as his opponent, Republican Attorney General Jason Meares.

00:05:08.760 Over 50 times, Jason Meares has had the chance to sue the president this year to protect Virginia,

00:05:15.200 and he's not stepped up. And that comes at our expense. And I got something to say to that.

00:05:20.520 Virginia deserves better. And there is a reason that Donald Trump has endorsed Jason Meares in

00:05:26.480 this campaign. He said Jason will never let us down. And what that means is that he'll never let

00:05:32.240 Donald Trump down. But I'm running for attorney general to put Virginia first, to make sure that

00:05:37.960 we protect our pocketbooks, that we protect our health care access, that we protect a woman's right

00:05:45.020 to an abortion. The texting scandal becoming a big issue in the gubernatorial race, with Lieutenant

00:05:52.340 Governor Earl Sears on Saturday in Loudoun County attacking Abigail Spamburger for failing to call

00:05:58.140 for Jones to exit the race. When my opponent says that when it comes to her candidate for attorney general

00:06:08.040 saying that two bullets to the head for his political opponent, and that the wife of his

00:06:15.420 political opponent was breeding, quote unquote, fascists, and that they needed to die to the two

00:06:23.440 children. And all she says is, well, she is disgusted. And then she is unhappy. Unhappy Abigail?

00:06:33.620 Wait a minute. Unhappy Abigail? About murder? How about you get a backbone and tell him he needed to

00:06:42.500 get out of the race? How about you do that? The Real Clear Politics average of polls showing

00:06:54.100 President Barack Obama to the Commonwealth if they were not concerned about the race. Polls in the

00:06:59.840 attorney general race showing a much tighter contest, Republican Mieras holding a 1.6-point lead over

00:07:06.040 Jones in the Real Clear polling average. Mark Halperin, host of Next Up with Mark Halperin on the

00:07:11.780 MK Media Network, telling the Megyn Kelly show last month that Republicans need to keep the governor's

00:07:17.020 race within about six points in order for Mieras to win in the AG spot.

00:07:21.840 I think if Spamburger wins by more than six, I think she'll save the bottom of the ticket.

00:07:29.060 But if it's closer than that, yeah, by six or more, I think probably the Democrats sweep. But if it's

00:07:36.100 less than that, then I think Jones will lose. Mr. Obama also making an appearance in New Jersey

00:07:42.260 Saturday, where he reverted back to one of his favorite attacks, accusing Republicans of discriminating

00:07:48.200 against minorities. The point is, there is absolutely no evidence that Republican policies

00:07:55.400 have made life better for the people in New Jersey. They've devoted enormous energy to

00:08:00.380 entrenching themselves in power, punishing their enemies, enriching their friends, silencing their

00:08:06.200 critics. They put on a big show of deporting people and targeting transgender folks. They never

00:08:13.460 miss a chance to scapegoat minorities and blame DEI for every problem under the sun.

00:09:19.300 has Cheryl up less than one point among likely voters. Unlike Virginia, New Jersey releases party

00:09:25.920 registration stats for early voting. Through Saturday, the early in-person vote is competitive.

00:09:31.860 The Democrats at 41 percent, Republicans at 37. And unaffiliated and other parties getting 22 percent

00:09:38.120 of the vote. However, the Democrats have an advantage of over 266,000 votes when mail-in plus the early

00:09:52.140 Chattarelli. And Chattarelli reminded us on the Megyn Kelly show last week that he had a dominant

00:09:57.440 performance on Election Day back in 2021 when he almost upset incumbent Democrat and current Governor

00:10:04.340 Phil Murphy. Historically speaking, Republicans under poll in this state because we're outnumbered by so

00:10:10.460 many Democrats. But the other thing to keep in mind is back in 2021, I beat Phil Murphy, the current

00:10:16.240 governor on Election Day, in-person voting on the machines by 250,000. So if we're going into Election

00:10:23.580 Day somewhat tied based on the vote-by-mail ballots that have been returned and early voting, nine days

00:10:29.040 of early voting, we're in really good shape. NBC News releasing a national poll Sunday showing a

00:10:34.540 mixed bag for both parties. Republicans hold a 31-point lead over Democrats when it comes to border

00:10:40.680 security, a 22-point lead over Dems in dealing with crime. Democrats hold an eight-point lead over

00:10:47.040 the GOP when it comes to preference for control of Congress in next year's midterms. But even with

00:10:53.480 that, there are warning signs about the Democrats' brand. Here's NBC News Chief Data Analyst Steve

00:13:05.860 terror attack in Michigan. Director Patel writing, quote, this morning, the FBI thwarted a potential

00:13:11.540 terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack

00:13:40.740 Task Force raided two homes in Dearborn and a storage facility in nearby Inkster, Michigan.

00:13:47.500 Attorney Amir Makhlid telling the Detroit News five men were questioned by investigators,

00:13:53.140 two taken into custody, including his client. Makhlid claiming to Live Now from Fox, a national news

00:13:59.720 service from Fox television stations, that the group was not planning a mass casualty event or act of

00:14:06.200 terrorism in Michigan and denying that the group had any ties to international terrorist organizations.

00:14:12.960 Well, I can't say that at this point, no one's been charged with any crime. So at this point,

00:14:16.680 the U.S. Attorney's Office has arrested at least two individuals. My client is one of the individuals

00:14:21.700 detained. We can't release the details as to who that person is just yet until and if the U.S.

00:14:27.520 Attorney's Office brings charges in this case. So things are kind of rapidly developing still as the

00:14:32.580 investigation continues. I do know for certainty that there was no mass casualty event or plot or

00:14:40.940 terrorism act that was planned within the city of Dearborn or state of Michigan by anybody involved in

00:14:46.880 this investigation. Now, whether or not there's some perhaps online rhetoric or curiosity by these kids,

00:14:52.500 we're talking about guys that are, you know, 18 to 20 years old. So young adults and teenagers

00:14:58.400 that may have gone a little too far on the Internet in terms of their curiosity. But nobody is involved
