00:00:39.200 I just really wanted to make sure that everyone knows that Graham and I have a great marriage.

00:00:46.160 Democrat Graham Plattner, U.S. Senate candidate from Maine,

00:00:49.580 facing explosive new reporting involving sexting exchanges with multiple women

00:00:54.520 and an account on a messaging app with a dark reputation.

00:02:54.080 A fresh round of damaging reports emerging from the scandal-plagued campaign of Graham Plattner,

00:03:00.300 the presumptive Democrat nominee running for U.S. Senate in Maine. The Wall Street Journal

00:03:04.860 and New York Times reporting Plattner's wife, Amy Gertner, told campaign officials last year that

00:03:10.940 she previously discovered sexually explicit text messages between her husband and multiple women.

00:03:18.200 Plattner and Gertner marrying in November of 2023, Plattner's campaign officially launching

00:03:23.680 less than two years later, on August 19, 2025. According to the Times, Gertner contacted

00:03:30.440 Genevieve McDonald, then political director of the campaign, just days before Plattner was set

00:03:35.840 to appear at a Labor Day rally with Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont last year, raising

00:03:41.120 concerns that her husband's messages could become a political liability. McDonald telling the Times

00:03:47.140 that Gertner described the messages as, quote, sexting, adding that Plattner had been communicating

00:03:52.900 with as many as a dozen women. The Times reporting a current campaign official has confirmed the

00:03:59.700 exchanges, though clarifying that Plattner had only messaged up to six women and stopped before

00:04:06.400 the campaign actually launched, which they appear to think makes a difference. Campaign aides

00:04:12.280 reportedly deciding the issue was a private matter being handled by Plattner and Gertner

00:04:16.580 in marriage counseling. Last October, McDonald resigning as political director of the campaign

00:04:22.300 amid mounting controversies over Plattner's dicey past social media posts, as well as his

00:04:28.380 chest tattoo widely regarded as a Nazi symbol. Then, as reporters at the Wall Street Journal

00:04:33.960 and New York Times were preparing stories on the sexting allegations, the Bangar Daily News

00:04:39.040 reporting one of Plattner's top advisors, Morris Katz, sent quite a warning on Friday to McDonald

00:04:45.400 through an intermediary. The message reportedly telling McDonald she would be publicly accused

00:04:50.640 of lying, betraying the couple's trust, and of trying to sabotage the campaign if she dared to

00:04:56.180 speak to reporters. The move apparently backfiring, though, with McDonald then agreeing to go on the

00:05:02.020 record with The New York Times, telling the paper, quote, the U.S. Senate is not a training ground

00:05:06.960 for redemption. It is a place for proven leaders with moral clarity and integrity. The Journal's

00:05:12.840 report surfacing another issue involving Plattner's extensive online footprint, an account on Kik.

00:05:19.080 That's a private messaging app with a long history of child safety concerns. The National Center on

00:05:25.060 Sexual Exploitation, referring to Kik as, quote, a predator's paradise, citing the app's anonymous

00:05:31.540 messaging features and its history of allowing underage users to communicate with adults.

00:05:37.500 The journal reporting it verified an account tied to Plattner using the handle PHustle0331,

00:05:45.200 similar to handles he has used on other social media platforms. The Daily Wire reporting the

00:05:50.640 account was created in 2016 when Plattner was 32 years old. The profile featuring a shirtless

00:05:57.220 mirror selfie of a man wearing only a towel with his face out of frame, but with visible tattoos

00:06:03.760 matching Plattner's. Plattner's campaign telling the journal he deleted the app from his phone

00:06:08.720 years ago, but never deactivated the account. Plattner's wife, Amy Gertner, who is reportedly

00:06:14.460 on the campaign payroll, recording a video response posted Saturday night to Plattner's

00:06:19.540 account on X. It makes me really angry, disappointed, and I find it really shameful

00:06:28.960 that there's a group of media outlets and people who are willing to spread gossip instead of

00:06:37.940 talking about real issues that Graham is running on, like health care and education and child

00:06:47.060 care. I just really wanted to make sure that everyone knows that Graham and I have a great

00:06:53.880 marriage. Being married is hard. Being newly married is hard. Being newly married and going

00:07:00.860 through infertility is hard. Being newly married going through infertility and a senate campaign

00:07:07.840 is is hard. Our marriage counselor helps. My personal counselor helps. Graham's personal

00:07:15.100 counselor helps. And we work on our mental health every day. Plattner speaking yesterday to local

00:07:21.800 outlet WMTW denying McDonald's story, sort of. This is the amazing part. The Wall Street Journal,

00:07:28.900 New York Times ran stories without any evidence besides the gossip from a former staffer.

00:07:35.860 I'm sorry. That's frankly, journalistic malpractice. We pushed back on it. They

00:07:42.400 want it they did it anyways did not exist the messages they did not I'm

00:07:50.320 confirming that what Genevieve McDonald said in the New York Times is not true

00:07:54.520 so you never met with her about uncomfortable for lack of a better word

00:07:59.260 sexting messages as the campaign was going we talked about things in Amy and

00:08:04.000 I's marriage that we've gone through over the years we talked about that

00:08:07.400 because that's our marriage and we discussed it with the campaign what

00:08:11.440 Genevieve McDonald claims, isn't true. Plattner now the presumptive Democratic nominee after Maine

00:08:17.300 Governor Janet Mills, the establishment favorite, dropped out of the race in late April, 0.92

00:08:21.880 citing a lack of funds to continue her campaign. Plattner's remaining Democratic challengers are

00:08:27.580 polling in the low single digits ahead of the June 9th primary. He is expected to face incumbent

00:08:32.880 Republican Senator Susan Collins in November in a race Democrats see as one of their best

00:08:37.580 chances to pick up a Senate seat in the midterms. Yesterday, multiple Democrats asked on the Sunday

00:08:42.980 shows about the latest revelations surrounding Plattner, each offering similar evasive responses.

00:08:49.600 Here, U.S. Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim of New Jersey and Chris Murphy of Connecticut.

00:08:55.080 That guy has questions to answer, and that's what campaigns are for. But when I go all over New

00:08:59.840 Jersey and see hundreds and hundreds of thousands of New Jerseans losing their health care and

00:09:04.340 millions more seeing their health care costs go up. I know that so much is riding on Democrats

00:09:09.340 taking control of the Senate. You know, this information is out there with any campaign in

00:09:14.060 the country. The character and the transparency about the different candidates is going to come

00:09:19.640 out. That's part of a campaign. But what I am, what I do hear from people in New Jersey around

00:09:24.540 the country is that they don't trust this U.S. Senate right now led by the Republicans.

00:09:30.060 I mean, Grant Plattner is somebody that served our country. He served his community. He certainly admitted that he has made mistakes, but I think this is going to be a pretty clear contrast in Maine between somebody who has spent his life protecting us versus somebody who seems to be protecting Donald Trump's corruption.

00:09:49.980 The Real Clear Politics polling average currently shows Plattner leading Senator Collins by 7.8 points. More on this later today on The MK Show.

00:10:00.060 More than 13 weeks into the U.S.-Iran war and a peace deal remains out of reach for now.

00:10:07.260 President Trump on Friday laying out terms for a possible peace agreement on Truth Social,

00:10:12.300 including that Iran, quote, will never have a nuclear weapon or bomb, that the Strait of Hormuz,

00:10:17.320 quote, must be immediately open, and that enriched nuclear material buried underground, quote,

00:10:22.840 will be unearthed by the United States and destroyed. The president ending the post writing,

00:10:28.700 quote, I will be meeting now in the Situation Room to make a final determination. But no final

00:10:34.340 determination arrived. Instead, after two hours of discussions with top aides, the president

00:10:39.640 reportedly attempting to toughen the terms of a potential framework. According to the New York

00:10:44.740 Times, Mr. Trump raising concerns about provisions that would unfreeze Iranian funds. Iran has said

00:10:51.160 it will not negotiate on its nuclear program unless and until we release some $12 billion of

00:10:57.280 its frozen assets. Axios reporting President Trump also requesting changes to some of the wording

00:11:02.920 regarding the Strait of Hormuz, though the nature of those modifications remains unclear.

00:11:08.280 The nuclear section of the proposal? Also still uncertain, including what happens to Iran's

00:11:13.520 enriched uranium stockpile and what restrictions would be placed on future enrichment. President

00:11:19.480 Trump seeking more detail on that front, with one senior administration official saying the

00:11:23.480 president wants, quote, more specifics about how the U.S. gets the material and the timing.

00:11:28.980 Whether Iran has agreed to anything at all around the uranium is also unclear. It has previously

00:11:34.960 dismissed as baseless. Earlier, Trump comments that its stockpile would be destroyed, reports

00:11:41.040 Iranian media. President Trump speaking to his daughter-in-law, Laura Trump, Saturday on Fox

00:11:46.080 about some of the nuclear language still being negotiated. One guarantee that I have to have is

00:11:51.380 there will be no nuclear weapons they've agreed to that and it was very interesting they said

00:11:56.980 they originally said we will not develop a nuclear weapon i said well what happens if you buy a

00:12:01.540 nuclear weapon so now it says we will not develop or in any way purchase a military weapon that's a

00:12:07.140 big difference so uh we're getting what we want slowly very tough negotiators it takes a long time

00:12:15.060 i'm in no hurry i'd like to say i'm in a hurry because you know what gasoline prices are going

00:12:19.540 going to come tumbling down. But if you're going to be in a hurry, you're not going to make a good

00:12:22.920 deal. And slowly but surely, we're getting, I think, what we want. And if we don't get what

00:12:28.520 we want, we're going to end it a different way. Iran's chief negotiator, Mohammed Bager

00:12:33.280 Galiboff, warning yesterday that the U.S. is not to be trusted, saying there's no deal until

00:12:39.720 Iranian rights, whatever that means, are protected, with Iran's foreign minister adding

00:12:44.980 everything that is being said now is speculation. Axios reports Trump was told it could take

00:12:50.840 roughly three days for the Iranians to respond, with one senior administration official saying,

00:12:56.160 quote, they're literally in caves and they're not using email. As the diplomatic effort continues,

00:13:02.480 several Americans injured last week after an Iranian missile was shot down near an airbase

00:13:07.340 in Kuwait. MSNOW reporting a U.S. official confirms four American troops and three contractors

00:13:13.640 suffered, quote, minor injuries last Wednesday. The outlet reporting all seven returned to duty

00:13:19.100 within 24 hours. Coming up, California voters heading to the polls tomorrow as a new poll

00:13:26.140 finds L.A. mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt surging. And Massachusetts residents rattled

00:13:32.080 over the weekend as a meteor explodes in the sky. Paying $70, $80, $90 a month to big wireless for

00:13:46.680 unlimited data is insane, especially when PureTalk is going to give you unlimited high-speed data

00:13:52.460 for just $34.99 a month. Unlimited high-speed data at PureTalk used to start at $55 a month,

00:14:00.140 but because Pure Talk is constantly pushing to give you more for less, you can now get

00:14:05.460 unlimited high-speed data for just under $35. How about that? So if you've looked at Pure Talk

00:14:36.660 unlimited high-speed data for just $34.99. Again, dial pound 250 and say Megyn Kelly to switch to 1.00

00:14:45.240 America's wireless company. That's Pure Talk. Check it out. Candidates for governor of California 0.98

00:14:53.080 and for L.A. mayor making their final pitches over the weekend as voters head to the polls

00:14:58.340 tomorrow in several key races. At the gubernatorial level, a new poll from Emerson College shows

00:15:04.420 Democrat Javier Becerra leading the race with 28 percent, with Democrat Tom Steyer following him

00:15:10.520 at 22 and Republican Steve Hilton at 21 percent. Hilton warning Republicans to unite now behind him

00:15:18.120 or risk a pair of Democrats in the runoff. Hilton posting a message on social media yesterday

00:15:23.520 to anyone still supporting his fellow Republican, Chad Bianco.

00:15:27.500 I know that many Republicans were holding on to the hope

00:15:30.840 that we might have two Republicans in the top two, myself and Chad,

00:15:34.880 and then we're guaranteed change in California.

00:15:38.060 But if that was ever possible, it's certainly not possible today.

00:15:41.320 You just have to look at the math.

00:15:43.120 This is not personal.

00:15:44.140 It's not about me or Chad or our qualities or our record or anything like that.

00:15:48.520 It's about the future of California.

00:15:50.520 And if we don't get a Republican in the top two, we have no chance for change.

00:15:56.100 So I'm asking each and every one of you, please, let's focus on what we all care about,

00:16:02.320 including Chad, which is saving California.

00:16:06.040 Steyer releasing a final ad over the weekend voiced by actor Jon Hamm.

00:16:10.640 Sweet California, built by the go-getters, the pioneers, the brave,

00:16:16.500 to make this big, beautiful, crazy place we call home.

00:16:20.520 a home that's become unaffordable for the people who live here and make it run.

00:16:25.040 This election is about change versus more of the same.

00:16:28.980 If you want a governor who can't be bought,

00:16:31.120 who can take on the powerful interests crushing us,

00:16:33.760 if you're ready for change, Tom Steyer for governor.

00:16:38.020 Meanwhile, Steyer last week also voicing support for a very unpopular stance,

00:16:43.060 male athletes in women's and girls' sports.

00:16:46.560 Steyer posting a video to social media with A.B. Hernandez,

00:16:49.560 as a male pretending to be female who's just finished his high school sports career with

00:16:54.500 two, count them, two women's state track titles. I was saying in this town hall, it's the job of

00:17:01.560 the governor to stand between danger and Californians. And I mean it. And to make

00:17:05.840 sure that people are safe and to protect them from all the malign influences in this world.

00:17:11.000 And I take that super, super, super seriously for you, just so you know. And I'm so proud of you for

00:17:16.720 what you're doing. So proud of you for succeeding. So proud of you for competing. That's really the

00:17:22.880 point. And I'm going to hope like heck that you don't just make state, but you do really well

00:17:28.300 there. Deal? Deal. Deal. Congratulations on what you've done as a mom and congratulations what

00:17:33.920 you've done as an athlete. Steyer referencing AB's mother at the end of that clip there.

00:17:38.840 In the governor's race, the top two will advance, setting up a high stakes November showdown to

00:17:43.640 replace current governor, Gavin Newsom. In the LA mayoral race, polls show Democrat incumbent

00:17:49.920 Karen Bass holding a narrow lead. Unbelievably, she burned their city down. But there she is, 1.00

00:17:57.000 with progressive city council member Nithya Raman and former reality TV star Spencer Pratt

00:18:02.020 right behind. A new poll from the California Post showing Pratt jumping into a statistical tie with

00:18:08.500 Bass, 30 percent to 29 percent, with Councilmember Rahman in third. The poll finding voter frustration

00:18:14.780 as the driving force behind the shift, with 62 percent of Angelenos saying the city is on the

00:18:19.820 wrong track. Currently, Bass's approval rating sits at 32 percent. If one of the candidates somehow

00:18:26.080 gets over 50 percent of the vote, the race is over. Otherwise, the top two will advance to a

00:18:31.460 runoff to be decided in November. Parts of New England getting a rare out-of-this-world wake-up

00:18:38.360 call over the weekend. On Saturday, a three-foot meteor creating a thunderous boom plunging into

00:18:44.460 Cape Cod Bay, according to NASA. The noise startling residents and rattling windows from

00:18:49.700 Boston to Rhode Island. One woman telling WBZ Boston she thought it might be an earthquake.

00:18:55.500 I have never been in an earthquake, but it felt like maybe what it might feel like.

00:18:58.680 It felt like it was, felt like a little bit of a vibration and I'm on the fourth floor,

00:19:03.480 but I could feel it. Another Massachusetts resident telling ABC News it felt like someone

00:19:07.860 was slamming all the doors in his house at once. You can see in the footage that I provided,

00:19:13.180 you can see the physical shaking of the cameras. Whatever that shockwave was, was enough

00:19:17.400 to literally move things. Calls flooding in to police around the Northeast.

00:19:22.560 Do you hear a logic explosion in West CBD? We're getting called. I heard it and felt it,

00:19:27.480 but no idea where it came from. NASA saying the meteor hit around 2 p.m. Eastern,

00:19:32.160 breaking apart roughly 40 miles above the ground, unleashing energy equal to 300 tons of TNT.

00:19:40.020 There was apparently no warning of the space rock before or after it entered the Earth's

00:19:44.700 atmosphere, traveling at approximately 75,000 miles per hour. Carl W. Hergenrother, the executive

00:19:51.600 director of the American Meteor Society, tells the New York Times, when these rocks land,

00:19:57.380 they generally do not cloud with steam, as fallen meteors are occasionally depicted to do

00:20:02.880 in media. Quote, it's not like in the movies where it leaves a big, you know, steaming hole

00:20:07.680 in the ground. It's just you walk outside and there's a black rock on the ground where there

00:20:12.280 shouldn't be. So far, no injuries, no damage, and no peace is being recovered from the water,

00:20:17.940 though scientists are looking over eyewitness videos and satellite data in hopes of tracking

00:20:22.960 down the space rock's origin. This incident, the latest in a string of dramatic fireball reports

00:20:28.580 across North America this year, all coming as the Trump administration has started rolling out their

00:20:33.500 UFO files disclosures. And that'll do it for your AM update. I'm Megan Kelly. Join me back here for
