00:01:17.920 As President Trump is settling into his new administration,
00:01:24.520 one of the top Democrats in Congress aiming to undermine the Trump agenda
00:01:27.800 is Democrat Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois.
00:01:31.020 And according to our sponsor, the Electronic Payments Coalition,
00:01:34.840 Senator Durbin has a new plan, a government takeover of your credit card.
00:01:39.460 Today, Americans have thousands of choices in credit cards,
00:01:42.240 but they say Senator Durbin's plan will result in less competition and less security,
00:01:47.220 which means more risk for your credit and your identity.
00:01:50.840 You can learn more for yourself at guardyourcard.com.
00:01:54.540 And you could consider telling your senators to stop
00:01:57.420 Dick Durbin's government takeover of your credit card before it's too late.
00:02:04.720 President Trump hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
00:02:07.920 and several other European leaders at the White House yesterday.
00:02:11.060 A high-stakes gathering aimed at making sure all stakeholders are on the same page
00:02:16.040 in pursuit of peace with Russia,
00:02:18.580 marked by a notably warmer tone than Zelensky's last meeting with Mr. Trump.
00:02:23.160 The Oval Office meeting in February between Presidents Trump and Zelensky
00:02:26.680 and Vice President J.D. Vance collapsing into conflict.
00:02:30.560 At one point, a reporter then suggesting Mr. Zelensky's trademark wartime outfit,
00:02:35.020 a polo shirt and military-style trousers,
00:02:37.620 was a sign of disrespect in an Oval Office meeting.
00:02:41.060 The Ukrainian leader arriving at the White House Monday sporting a black jacket,
00:02:46.040 black shirt, and black pants.
00:02:48.060 That same reporter, Brian Glenn, of Real America's Voice,
00:02:51.400 from the Oval getting right to the elephant in the room.
00:02:54.560 President Zelensky, you look fabulous in that suit.
00:02:57.260 I said the same thing.
00:02:58.200 I said the same thing.
00:03:00.860 Yeah.
00:03:01.200 I said the one that attacked you last time.
00:03:03.460 See, now he's in the room.
00:03:04.080 I remember that.
00:03:04.840 This time around, pressed by Fox News' Peter Doocy on which side holds the better cards,
00:03:10.940 President Trump striking a more diplomatic tone.
00:03:13.520 Is this the end of the road for American support for Ukraine?
00:03:17.560 Is today's meeting deal or no deal?
00:03:21.700 I can never say that.
00:03:22.980 It's never the end of the road.
00:03:24.100 People are being killed and we want to stop that.
00:03:26.360 So I would not say it's the end of the road.
00:03:28.680 No, I think we have a good chance of doing it.
00:03:30.460 As you listen to Russia and Ukraine, which side has the better cards?
00:03:34.540 Well, I don't want to say that.
00:03:35.780 I'm just going to, I'm just here to be, look, this isn't my war.
00:03:38.400 This is Joe Biden's war.
00:03:40.140 He's the one that had a lot to do with this happening and we want to get it ended.
00:03:45.100 In Ukraine, no election can be held during martial law,
00:03:48.040 which has been in effect since Russia's 2022 invasion.
00:03:51.560 Mr. Zelensky saying he is open to holding elections once peace is reached.
00:03:56.040 President Trump following up with this quip.
00:03:58.060 So you say during the war, you can't have elections.
00:04:02.420 So let me just say three and a half years from now.
00:04:05.500 So you mean if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections.
00:04:11.180 Oh, that's good.
00:04:12.440 I wonder what the fake news is.
00:04:14.120 You like this idea.
00:04:15.500 That moment quickly going viral.
00:04:17.620 Many on the right noting the obvious humor,
00:04:20.440 some on the left falling for it hook, line and sinker.
00:04:23.980 Democratic influencer Brian Krasenstein posting on X, quote,
00:04:27.540 He does this on the world stage as we try to get a dictator to stop invading a foreign nation.
00:04:34.520 Sickening.
00:04:35.620 Following a meeting between President Trump's cabinet and President Zelensky,
00:04:39.420 the two leaders joined by the German chancellor, French president, British prime minister,
00:04:44.240 Italian prime minister, Finnish president, European commission president,
00:04:48.520 and secretary general of NATO for more talks.
00:04:51.740 A key subject of discussion,
00:04:53.040 What if any future military guarantees the U.S. is willing to provide?
00:04:57.880 President Trump not ruling out the possibility of using U.S. troops to ensure the lasting defense of Ukraine.
00:05:04.260 European leaders stressing the need for an immediate ceasefire before moving on to more in-depth negotiations with Russia.
00:05:11.380 President Trump with a frank response.
00:05:13.320 All of us would obviously prefer an immediate ceasefire while we work on a lasting peace.
00:05:18.840 And maybe something like that could happen.
00:05:21.000 As of this moment, it's not happening.
00:05:22.920 But President Zelensky and President Putin can talk a little bit more about that.
00:05:29.520 European leaders heaping praise on the president before the extended meeting.
00:05:33.300 We are very happy with the president that all the leaders are here.
00:05:38.100 And the security in Ukraine depends on the United States and on you.
00:05:42.380 After three years and a half that we didn't see any kind of sign from the Russian side that there was a willing for dialogue.
00:05:50.620 So something is changing.
00:05:52.680 Something has changed.
00:05:53.800 Thanks to you.
00:05:54.600 In the past two weeks, we've probably had more progress in ending this war than we have in the past three and a half years.
00:06:02.280 I really want to thank you, President of the United States, dear Donald, for the fact that you, as I said before,
00:06:06.980 broke the deadlock basically with President Putin by starting that dialogue.
00:06:11.660 President Trump posting to Truth Social last night, quote,
00:06:14.840 At the conclusion of the meetings, I called President Putin and began the arrangements for a meeting at a location to be determined between President Putin and President Zelensky.
00:06:25.120 After that meeting takes place, we will have a trilat, which would be the two presidents plus myself.
00:06:30.860 Again, this was a very good early step for a war that has been going on for almost four years.
00:06:36.720 Coming up, President Trump moves to crack down on mail-in ballots.
00:06:42.520 And we have the latest details on the disappearance of seven-month-old Emanuel Harrow,
00:06:47.400 as authorities are not ruling out the parents as suspects.
00:06:50.880 We'll have a full report.
00:06:52.240 I've been talking a lot lately about Riverbend Ranch, and that's because I love their steaks.
00:07:02.320 Riverbend Ranch has taken black Angus beef to a whole new level.
00:07:06.820 For the last 35 years, Riverbend Ranch has been creating a very elite Angus herd by using ultrasound to select genetically superior cattle with a focus on flavor and tenderness.
00:07:17.940 When you buy from Riverbend Ranch, you are not only supporting the 64 cowboys and cowgirls and their families who work on the ranch,
00:07:24.660 but you're also supporting over 260 other U.S. ranches and the hundreds of American families who work on those ranches.
00:07:32.100 It is born in the USA, raised in the USA, and processed in the USA.
00:07:36.740 It is aged to perfection for 21 days and shipped directly from the ranch to your home.
00:07:41.920 This is not your average black Angus beef.
00:07:44.040 So order from RiverbendRanch.com and use the promo code MEGAN for 20 bucks off your first order.
00:07:50.860 And let me know what you think.
00:07:52.520 RiverbendRanch.com, promo code MEGAN.
00:07:57.840 President Trump announcing a new election integrity effort Monday morning on Truth Social in a lengthy post reading in part,
00:08:04.340 I am going to lead a movement to get rid of mail-in ballots, and also, while we're at it, highly inaccurate, very expensive, and seriously controversial voting machines,
00:08:15.600 which cost 10 times more than accurate and sophisticated watermark paper, which is faster and leaves no doubt at the end of the evening as to who won and who lost the election.
00:08:26.580 Mail-in ballots becoming a flashpoint during the 2020 election, as many states reacted to the pandemic by expanding mail-in ballot and absentee voting access.
00:08:36.360 The rapid changes to the systems accompanied by reports of voters receiving multiple ballots, ballots sent to the wrong addresses, ballots left in unsecured ballot boxes, and more,
00:08:48.060 all fueling ongoing debate about security, oversight, and integrity in the system.
00:08:53.000 Post-COVID, most states reverting back to pre-pandemic policies, though, some did adopt mail-based election systems.
00:09:01.320 According to the Nonpartisan National Conference of State Legislatures, an organization that provides research and policy support,
00:09:09.060 quote,
00:09:09.240 At the start of 2020, five states conducted elections almost entirely by mail.
00:09:14.620 By the 2022 general election, eight states did.
00:09:17.940 The three newest, California, Nevada, and Vermont, all blue in 2020.
00:09:24.160 A June report by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission submitted to Congress states,
00:09:28.680 quote,
00:09:28.960 Mail voting comprised 30.3% of the turnout for the 2024 election,
00:09:33.960 which is down from the high watermark for mail voting seen in 2020, 43% then,
00:09:39.260 but still larger than the percentage of the electorate that voted by mail in pre-pandemic elections.
00:09:44.420 Mr. Trump going on to say he plans to sign an executive order to bring honesty and integrity
00:09:49.880 to the 2026 midterm elections, though the timeline and more details on what the order will entail are unclear.
00:09:57.620 The latest effort following a March executive order attempting to require proof of citizenship to vote,
00:10:03.700 ban the counting of ballots received after Election Day,
00:10:06.440 and add more federal oversight of state voter rolls,
00:10:09.420 the order threatening to withhold federal election funding to non-compliant states,
00:10:14.320 many of the provisions in that order blocked by multiple judges in several lawsuits.
00:10:19.340 On Monday from the Oval, President Trump suggesting White House lawyers
00:10:22.360 are adapting to the legal challenges resulting from that March executive order.
00:10:27.300 Mail-in ballots are corrupt.
00:10:29.300 Mail-in ballots, you can never have a real democracy with mail-in ballots.
00:10:34.040 And we, as a Republican Party, are going to do everything possible that we get rid of mail-in ballots.
00:10:40.520 We're going to start with an executive order that's being written right now by the best lawyers in the country
00:10:44.940 to end mail-in ballots because they're corrupt.
00:10:49.180 We're going to end mail-in voting.
00:10:51.300 It's a fraud.
00:10:52.740 If you have mail-in votes, even Jimmy Carter with this commission, they set it up.
00:10:56.760 He said the one thing about mail-in voting,
00:10:59.080 you will never have an honest election if you have mail-in.
00:11:01.520 And it's time that the Republicans get tough and stop it because the Democrats want it.
00:11:07.540 It's the only way they can get elected because with men and women's sports 1.00
00:11:11.980 and with transgender for everybody and open borders.
00:11:15.260 Mr. Trump referencing former President Jimmy Carter's 2005 commission on federal election reform.
00:11:21.620 The committee finding, quote,
00:11:23.060 while the commission is divided on the magnitude of voter fraud,
00:11:26.000 with some believing the problem is widespread and others believing that it is minor,
00:11:29.800 there is no doubt that it occurs.
00:11:32.300 Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.
00:11:36.760 The report also finding voting by mail-in ballot, quote,
00:11:39.920 raises concerns about privacy as citizens voting at home may come under pressure to vote for certain
00:11:45.280 candidates and it increases the risk of fraud.
00:11:48.780 President Trump's campaign to eliminate mail-in ballots potentially bolstered
00:11:52.420 by a string of recent indictments tied to absentee ballot and vote-by-mail fraud.
00:11:58.260 Last month in South Texas, a grand jury indicting 15 suspects,
00:12:02.480 including the former chair of the Bexar County Democratic Party,
00:12:05.880 in a vote-harvesting probe led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton,
00:12:10.880 tied to a 2024 state House campaign.
00:12:14.300 In Connecticut this February,
00:12:15.540 five people, including Democrat political operatives,
00:12:18.880 indicted on ballot tampering allegations regarding a 2023 local election.
00:12:24.500 As with the March executive order,
00:12:26.100 any move President Trump makes on election integrity
00:12:28.520 is almost certain to face immediate legal challenges,
00:12:32.080 setting up yet another courtroom battle ahead of the 2026 midterms.
00:12:38.120 San Bernardino Sheriff's Department confirming to AM Update
00:12:41.740 that no one, including the parents,
00:12:44.680 has been ruled out in the case of missing seven-month-old California baby Emanuel Harrow.
00:12:50.040 Many questions now surround the infant's disappearance.
00:12:53.740 Emanuel's mother, Rebecca Harrow,
00:12:56.020 telling authorities on Thursday evening she was at a football game with her family,
00:13:00.380 saying she left the game to get her stepson a mouth guard,
00:13:03.820 taking the baby along for the ride.
00:13:06.260 Rebecca claiming she arrived at the Big Five sporting goods store
00:13:09.400 and realized Emanuel needed a diaper change,
00:13:12.680 saying she put him on the back seat of the truck,
00:13:15.360 and that's when she allegedly heard one word,
00:13:17.860 Ola, and was hit on the head, blacking out.
00:13:21.400 Rebecca speaking to ABC7 with a black eye on Friday,
00:13:25.720 claiming she had the shiner when she came to in the parking lot,
00:13:29.500 that there she realized her baby was gone,
00:13:32.420 saying she never saw the attacker, nor his car or license plate.
00:13:36.080 And somebody said, Ola, and that's all I remember.
00:13:40.380 And I saw white.
00:13:42.040 And the hearing sound, I fell on the floor.
00:13:45.440 And I said, as I got up, I couldn't find my son.
00:13:50.400 I checked all around my truck.
00:13:53.400 And I ran into Big Five,
00:13:55.260 and I asked the lady if she saw a baby or someone with a baby.
00:13:59.300 She said no.
00:14:00.400 It was a happy boy.
00:14:01.440 When police pressed Rebecca about what they describe as inconsistencies in her story,
00:14:06.920 investigators say she stopped cooperating,
00:14:09.700 officials declining to elaborate on those inconsistencies.
00:14:13.480 Rebecca's mother later confirming this husband and wife lawyered up, 0.75
00:14:17.700 telling the press police requested that Rebecca take a lie detector test, 0.99
00:14:22.140 which the husband advised against until the couple found an attorney. 0.81
00:14:26.600 Reportedly, there is no security camera footage from the Big Five parking lot,
00:14:30.500 but investigators tell AM Update they have gathered,
00:14:34.360 a great deal of video footage from the area and are reviewing it.
00:14:39.560 Authorities confirming canine units, believed to be cadaver dogs,
00:14:43.660 were deployed to the Harrow home.
00:14:45.740 A KTLA journalist reporting that investigators had been spotted
00:14:49.120 digging up parts of the property.
00:14:51.900 While police did confirm another child, a two-year-old,
00:14:55.800 was previously removed from this family's home,
00:14:58.540 authorities refusing to provide details.
00:15:01.800 Riverside County Child and Family Services declining to comment,
00:15:05.340 citing confidentiality laws.
00:15:07.600 As AM Update reported on Monday,
00:15:09.860 the baby's father, Jake,
00:15:11.880 previously convicted of child cruelty stemming from a 2018 arrest.
00:15:17.240 He was sentenced to six months in jail and four years of probation,
00:15:21.320 which authorities say he violated.
00:15:23.960 Jake, asking for the public's help in the hours after baby Emanuel,
00:15:27.880 disappeared.
00:15:28.320 Whoever took my son, please return him.
00:15:31.780 We just want him back.
00:15:32.960 We won't do anything to you.
00:15:35.340 We just give us our son.
00:15:36.880 Just keep him safe.
00:15:37.820 Don't hurt him.
00:15:38.860 Make sure you feed him.
00:15:40.180 Change him.
00:15:41.380 Authorities have yet to activate an AMBER alert,
00:15:43.780 saying the criteria has not been met with no suspect,
00:15:47.360 nor any vehicle description.
00:15:49.480 Baby Emanuel weighs about 21 pounds,
00:15:51.840 is approximately 24 inches tall,
00:15:54.260 with brown hair, brown eyes,
00:15:55.780 and is said to be cross-eyed.
00:15:58.240 He was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie.
00:16:01.480 Anyone with information about Emanuel's disappearance
00:16:03.660 is asked to call 911
00:16:05.260 or the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department
00:16:07.560 at 909-890-4904.
00:16:11.120 And that'll do it for your AM update.
