00:02:52.020 Agents recovering a concealed handgun from Preddy during the struggle.

00:02:55.860 The incident is currently under investigation.

00:03:06.180 saying, quote,

00:03:06.780 This looks like a situation where an individual arrived at the scene to inflict maximum damage on individuals and to kill law enforcement,

00:03:15.460 adding that Preddy, quote,

00:03:16.780 Brandished his firearm.

00:03:18.860 We would later learn that there was no evidence to support those assertions.

00:03:28.120 Both officials later softening their language as video of the incident began circulating.

00:03:50.160 and were proving, quote,

00:03:51.700 catastrophic for the group.

00:03:54.060 Yesterday morning, President Trump announcing Border Czar Tom Homan would be heading to Minneapolis,

00:03:59.460 writing on Truth Social, quote,

00:04:01.220 He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there.

00:04:05.620 Tom is tough but fair and will report directly to me.

00:04:09.460 Press Secretary Caroline Levitt at yesterday's press briefing elaborating on Homan's role.

00:04:14.260 Mr. Homan is the point person for cooperating with state and local authorities

00:04:19.160 and corresponding with them, again, to achieve this level of cooperation,

00:04:23.900 to subdue the chaos on the streets of Minneapolis.

00:04:27.240 And I would just point out that Mr. Homan is someone who has been lauded for many, many decades

00:04:31.980 for his experience working in law enforcement.

00:04:34.460 In fact, this is a Washington Post headline from nine years ago, 2016.

00:04:39.720 Meet the man the White House has honored for deporting illegal immigrants. 1.00

00:04:42.700 And I would remind everyone in this room that it was former President Barack Hussein Obama

00:04:46.680 who awarded a medal to Mr. Homan.

00:04:49.120 So he's obviously very qualified.

00:04:51.140 He has the full trust and faith of the president.

00:04:53.540 He will continue to have these meetings in the hopes that

00:04:56.480 we ICE and local law enforcement can cooperate and work together

00:05:13.700 We actually seemed to be on a similar wavelength.

00:05:16.940 I told Governor Walz that I would have Tom Homan call him

00:05:19.700 and that what we are looking for are

00:05:21.760 any and all criminals that they have in their possession.

00:05:25.340 He was happy that Tom Homan was going to Minnesota.

00:05:28.240 In a Minnesota public radio interview,

00:05:31.140 Governor Walz striking a cautiously optimistic tone.

00:05:34.000 I said we just have to reduce these numbers.

00:05:36.180 We started out with that and he pledged that,

00:05:38.180 look, I'm going to send Tom Homan in.

00:05:39.400 And we'll do things differently.

00:05:41.280 He explained to me how he thought it was very successful in Louisiana,

00:05:44.880 very successful in Louisville, which so it was cordial.

00:05:49.740 I think he understood this.

00:05:51.240 I told him that this is unsustainable.

00:05:53.060 Whatever has happened here, there is a definite change of tone.

00:05:56.080 There is a definitely a more collaborative tone.

00:05:58.420 I want to make sure that I'm not jeopardizing that,

00:06:02.000 that I'm going to take them for their word right now,

00:06:03.840 that they're going to reduce this force.

00:06:06.020 The first sign of increased cooperation,

00:06:08.240 multiple outlets reporting Commander Bovino

00:06:10.320 and some federal agents reportedly preparing to leave Minnesota today.

00:06:15.540 Levitt telling reporters yesterday,

00:06:17.240 Bovino will continue leading operations elsewhere throughout the country.

00:06:21.160 Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin posting on X, quote,

00:06:24.680 Chief Gregory Bovino has not been relieved of his duties.

00:06:28.800 As Caroline Levitt stated from the White House podium,
