The Megyn Kelly Show - Trump Breaks News on Zelensky in Address to Congress, Canada Responds to Tariffs： AM Update for 3⧸5

00:00:00.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Megyn Kelly. It's Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, and this is your

00:00:08.260 AM Update.

00:00:09.760 And to my fellow citizens, America is back.

00:00:17.400 President Trump's joint address to Congress celebrates his ferocious pace of actions in

00:00:22.820 just the first six weeks of his presidency. Republicans were raucous. Democrats, not exactly.

00:00:28.760 If he wants to destroy our economy and our families, I will shut down the electricity

00:00:34.640 going down to the U.S.

00:00:36.560 President Trump may dial back tariffs following a forceful response from the Canadians,

00:00:41.300 and Attorney General Pam Bondi finally gets her hands on the rest of the Epstein files.

00:00:46.860 Maybe. All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.

00:00:53.400 Let's talk about that car you own but don't use.

00:00:56.040 The one you're paying to keep registered and insured that's just taking up space out

00:01:00.160 front. It's just sitting there doing no one any good. But you do have a choice. You can

00:01:05.280 give Cars for Kids, that's cars with a K, a call and have them take care of it for you.

00:01:10.780 Just give them the info and they will come to you as soon as the next day. And take that

00:01:14.940 car off your hands at no cost to you. Even better, they will turn that car into funds to help kids.

00:01:20.020 So visit carsforkids.org.mk. That's cars with a K and then the number four to donate or just call

00:01:28.520 Cars for Kids directly at 1-877-CARS-4-KIDS and they will get that car picked up quickly.

00:01:34.660 Plus, you need to get a tax deduction and a vacation voucher. You can get both of those with

00:01:49.140 slash mk right now to get this done. Cars, the numeral four, kids.org slash mk. Cars, the K.

00:01:59.840 President Trump delivering a joint address to Congress, touting the success of his

00:02:04.020 administration's wide ranging actions since taking office less than two months ago. Billions of

00:02:10.060 dollars in new investments, illegal border crossings plummeting to historic lows, the unleashing of

00:02:15.780 American energy and President Trump announcing President Zelensky sent him a letter saying

00:02:21.060 Ukraine is ready to sign the minerals agreement. Today, I received an important letter from President

00:02:27.580 Zelensky of Ukraine. The letter reads, Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as

00:02:34.740 possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than the Ukrainians, he said. I appreciate

00:02:42.880 that he sent this letter. It's time to stop this madness. It's time to halt the killing. It's time to end

00:02:51.100 this senseless war. The defining moment of the night, Democrat opposition to just about everything. Within

00:02:58.140 moments, an unprecedented outburst from Dems, booing and jeering as President Trump highlighted his

00:03:03.980 electoral victory. Texas Congressman Al Green shouting and waving his cane from his chair.

00:03:09.700 Speaker Mike Johnson quickly squashing the outburst.

00:03:13.260 Finding that members continue to engage in willful and concerted disruption of proper decorum,

00:03:18.340 the chair now directs the sergeant-at-arms to restore order.

00:03:23.920 Remove this gentleman from the chamber.

00:03:25.720 In 2009, South Carolina Congressman Republican Joe Wilson was widely condemned by members of both

00:03:33.740 parties for shouting, you lie, to President Obama in his first joint address. President Trump replying

00:03:39.920 to the pandemonium, saying he could find a cure to a devastating disease or stop all crime, and the

00:03:46.080 Democrats would not stand and cheer. To which the Democrats responded by scowling from their seats.

00:03:51.680 Many of the Democrat congresswomen, dressed in pink, an homage to the pink hats that defined 0.76

00:03:58.220 the leftist women's march, formed to protest the first Trump administration. Early on in his remarks,

00:04:04.400 President Trump giving a special shout-out to former high school volleyball player Peyton McNabb.

00:04:10.200 He smashed the ball so hard in Peyton's face, causing traumatic brain injury, partially paralyzing her 0.96

00:04:18.660 right side and ending her athletic career. It was a shot like she's never seen before. She's never

00:04:26.680 seen anything like it. Peyton is here tonight in the gallery, and Peyton, from now on, schools will kick

00:04:33.540 the men off the girls' team, or they will lose all federal funding.

00:04:40.700 President Trump calling participation of biological males in female sports demeaning to women, saying,

00:04:45.960 we're not going to put up with it any longer, calling it part of his common-sense revolution.

00:04:51.880 On Monday, Democrats blocked the vote on the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.

00:04:56.440 The bill would have banned biological males from competing in female sports.

00:05:00.680 President Trump highlighting the massive amounts of waste, fraud, and abuse discovered by Elon Musk and

00:05:06.920 the Doge team.

00:05:07.980 $40 million to improve the social and economic inclusion of sedentary migrants. Nobody knows what that is.

00:05:15.960 $8 million to promote LGBTQI+.

00:05:23.060 In the African nation of Lesotho, which nobody has ever heard of.

00:05:29.680 $60 million for indigenous peoples and Afro-Colombian empowerment in Central America.

00:05:38.300 Elon receiving massive boos from the Democrats, many of whom held tiny little signs reading,

00:05:43.760 Musk steals. 1.00

00:05:45.340 President Trump taking the fight right back to his detractors, calling on Congress to pass

00:05:50.280 tax cuts for everyone.

00:05:52.260 They're waiting for you to vote.

00:05:54.280 And I'm sure that the people on my right, I don't mean the Republican right, but my right

00:06:00.720 right here, I'm sure you're going to vote for those tax cuts because otherwise I don't believe

00:06:05.140 the people will ever vote you into office.

00:06:07.820 So I'm doing you a big favor by telling you that.

00:06:11.780 But I know this group is going to be voting for the tax.

00:06:17.080 Mr. Trump highlighting the first and so far only legislative achievement of his second term,

00:06:22.700 the Lakin-Riley Act.

00:06:24.340 The president acknowledging the presence of Allison and Lauren Phillips, the mother and

00:06:28.920 sister of Lakin-Riley.

00:06:30.040 Lakin was murdered by an illegal immigrant let into the country by the Biden administration.

00:06:35.500 Last year, I told Lakin's grieving parents that we would ensure their daughter would not

00:06:41.640 have died in vain.

00:06:43.600 That's why the very first bill I signed into law as your 47th president mandates the detention

00:06:51.920 of all dangerous criminal aliens who threaten public safety. 0.75

00:06:56.360 It's called the Lakin-Riley Act.

00:07:00.220 So Allison and Lauren, America will never, ever forget our beautiful Lakin-Hope-Riley.

00:07:07.720 Lakin's mother mouthing thank you to the president.

00:07:10.540 The Dems did not stand.

00:07:12.780 In an emotional moment, President Trump acknowledging another guest, Alexis Nungare, mother of 12-year-old

00:07:18.920 Jocelyn, who was sexually assaulted and murdered by two illegal immigrants, her body left in a

00:07:25.040 creek.

00:07:25.320 One thing I have learned about Jocelyn is that she loved animals so much.

00:07:29.700 She loved nature.

00:07:31.660 Across Galveston Bay, from where Jocelyn lived in Houston, you will find a magnificent national

00:07:38.260 wildlife refuge, a pristine, peaceful, 34,000-acre sanctuary for all of God's creatures on the

00:07:48.980 edge of the Gulf of America.

00:07:51.200 And Alexis, moments ago, I formally renamed that refuge in loving memory of your beautiful

00:08:00.420 daughter, Jocelyn.

00:08:01.880 Stephen Miller posting on X, they, meaning Democrats, didn't stand for Jocelyn.

00:08:07.600 It was a theme we saw throughout the night.

00:08:09.500 They sat even when a 13-year-old boy with cancer was honored.

00:08:13.100 President Trump turning to foreign policy, sending a message to Greenland.

00:08:18.220 And if you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America.

00:08:22.280 We need Greenland for national security and even international security.

00:08:27.340 And we're working with everybody involved to try and get it.

00:08:30.720 But we need it really for international world security.

00:08:34.780 And I think we're going to get it.

00:08:36.560 One way or the other, we're going to get it.

00:08:39.480 Mr. Trump saying Greenland is vital to U.S. national security interests.

00:08:43.880 Prior to the speech, the president's staff teased many surprises.

00:08:47.360 One big one, the announcement of the capture of the terrorist who planned the 2021 Abbey Gate

00:08:53.380 suicide bombing in Afghanistan.

00:08:55.760 Tonight, I am pleased to announce that we have just apprehended the top terrorist responsible

00:09:02.040 for that atrocity.

00:09:03.840 And he is right now on his way here to face the swift sword of American justice.

00:09:12.140 The Dems remained seated.

00:09:14.900 Thirteen service members were killed and dozens horrifically wounded in the explosion amid the

00:09:19.580 chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.

00:09:21.900 Last week, the president instructed the secretary of defense to investigate the withdrawal and

00:09:25.960 deliver accountability to the generals responsible for botching it.

00:09:29.020 President Trump winding down his speech with a bold vision for America, promising the freest

00:09:34.940 and most dominant civilization on the face of the earth with the highest quality of life.

00:09:39.720 My fellow Americans, get ready for an incredible future because the golden age of America has

00:09:47.500 only just begun.

00:09:49.660 It will be like nothing that has ever been seen before.

00:09:54.480 Thank you.

00:09:55.200 God bless you.

00:09:56.140 And God bless America.

00:09:59.020 Coming up, Canada threatens to escalate measures in the tariff wars and the latest on the Epstein

00:10:06.560 files in just a moment.

00:10:10.220 Four years of crushing interest rates, runaway inflation and reckless government spending.

00:10:15.120 And who is paying the price?

00:10:16.540 You are.

00:10:17.500 You might have bills stacking up.

00:10:18.840 You might have debt collectors on your back.

00:10:20.780 You might barely be able to keep food on the table.

00:10:22.840 And that's stressful.

00:10:24.580 Done with debt can be a way out.

00:10:25.900 These guys have developed a new aggressive strategy, many of them actually, designed to

00:10:31.220 get you out of debt permanently without bankruptcy and without loans.

00:10:35.140 Done with debt will stand between you and your bill collectors.

00:10:37.820 They can go head to head with their creditors, getting your balances reduced, your interest rates

00:10:41.880 slashed and penalties stopped.

00:10:44.540 They create a plan to end your debt fast and put more cash in your pocket every month.

00:10:48.500 And right now, done with debt is accepting new clients, but you need to act fast.

00:10:54.460 Some of these credit relief programs expire.

00:10:56.780 Before you make another payment, consider a visit to donewithdebt.com or call 1-888-322-1054

00:11:03.880 right now.

00:11:05.380 Speak with one of their debt relief strategists for free.

00:11:08.280 Go to donewithdebt.com.

00:11:09.540 That's donewithdebt.com.

00:11:14.560 President Trump doubling down on his commitments to those tariffs on Canada and Mexico.

00:11:19.720 They've allowed fentanyl to come into our country at levels never seen before, killing

00:11:23.780 hundreds of thousands of our citizens.

00:11:27.440 And they are, in effect, receiving subsidies of hundreds of billions of dollars.

00:11:31.980 And the United States will not be doing that any longer.

00:11:35.560 We're not going to do it any longer.

00:11:36.800 Though Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told Fox Business earlier in the day, President

00:11:41.440 Trump may be willing to compromise on a lower rate.

00:11:44.240 I think he's going to work something out with them.

00:11:46.280 It's not going to be a pause, none of that pause stuff.

00:11:49.080 But I think he's going to figure out, you do more, and I'll meet you in the middle some

00:11:53.400 way.

00:11:53.920 And we're going to probably be announcing that tomorrow.

00:11:55.940 So somewhere in the middle will likely be the outcome, the president moving with the

00:12:00.580 Canadians and Mexicans, but not all the way.

00:12:02.640 This comes after the Canadians' forceful response to the 25% tariffs.

00:12:06.420 That went into effect on Tuesday.

00:12:08.840 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who has resigned as head of his party and will be replaced when

00:12:13.340 Canada holds an election, appealing to U.S. citizens yesterday morning.

00:12:17.700 We don't want this.

00:12:19.980 We want to work with you as a friend and ally.

00:12:24.560 And we don't want to see you hurt either.

00:12:27.080 But your government has chosen to do this to you.

00:12:34.000 They've chosen to sabotage their own agenda that was supposed to usher in a new golden

00:12:41.000 age for the United States.

00:12:44.500 And they've chosen to undermine the incredible work we've done together to tackle the scourge

00:12:51.380 that is fentanyl, a drug that must be wiped from the face of the earth.

00:12:55.880 Mr. Trudeau warning the U.S. that Canada is prepared to up the ante.

00:13:00.900 And should these tariffs not cease, we are in active and ongoing discussions with provinces

00:13:06.300 and territories to pursue several non-tariff measures.

00:13:11.160 Measures which will demonstrate that there are no winners in a trade war.

00:13:17.120 Ontario Premier Doug Ford telling NBC News he's willing to cut off American electricity.

00:13:23.880 I'm going after absolutely everything.

00:13:27.360 And I don't want to.

00:13:28.580 We keep the lights on, the 1.5 million homes and manufacturing in New York, in Michigan,

00:13:35.440 and in Minnesota.

00:13:36.800 If he wants to destroy our economy and our families, I will shut down the electricity going

00:13:42.900 down to the U.S.

00:13:44.320 And I'm telling you, we will do it.

00:13:46.640 Mr. Ford promising to direct energy producers to shut down energy exports to the U.S. entirely

00:13:52.400 if Mr. Trump goes forward with his planned reciprocal tariffs on April 2nd.

00:13:57.740 That's an additional set of tariffs on top of the 25 percent that went into effect yesterday.

00:14:03.200 In the meantime, Mr. Ford says Ontario is slapping a 25 percent electricity export tax,

00:14:09.240 President Trump justifying the tariffs on the basis of a national emergency, he says, related

00:14:14.100 to fentanyl.

00:14:14.940 On Monday, he told reporters Canada would have to start building their cars in the United

00:14:19.940 States.

00:14:20.700 The Trump administration has yet to name any specific steps Canada or Mexico could take

00:14:25.960 to have these tariffs removed.

00:14:28.180 Canada's economy is heavily dependent on the U.S.

00:14:31.080 The Times reports three-quarters of all Canadian exports are destined for the United States

00:14:35.980 and trade makes up one-fifth of their GDP.

00:14:39.660 Simply put, the tariffs will plunge Canada into a recession.

00:14:43.280 Canada's Chamber of Commerce predicts their GDP will plunge by a whopping 2.6 percent.

00:14:48.080 Attorney General Pam Bondi announcing her office has secured the rest of the Epstein files.

00:14:58.180 The original release of the Epstein files last Thursday, a total flop containing just

00:15:02.740 200 pages of already available information.

00:15:05.740 A source revealing to the Attorney General that the rest of the Epstein files were hidden

00:15:10.220 away at the FBI's New York field office, located in the jurisdiction of the Southern District

00:15:15.740 of New York.

00:15:16.960 A.G.

00:15:17.280 Bondi telling Fox News her office received a truckload of documents, supposedly the remainder.

00:15:23.200 We got them all by, hopefully all of them, Friday at 8 a.m., thousands of pages of documents.

00:15:29.400 I have the FBI going through them, and Cash is also, now that we have Cash here, it's a

00:15:33.600 game-changer, of course, and Cash is going to, Director Patel, is going to get us a detailed

00:15:40.160 report as to why the FBI withheld all of those documents.

00:15:44.420 A.G.

00:15:44.820 Bondi and FBI Director Cash Patel have committed to full transparency, though some information,

00:15:50.260 they say, will have to be redacted.

00:15:52.060 And when we redact things, Sean, what we're going to do is not just pull pages out like

00:15:57.040 they used to do.

00:15:58.040 If something's redacted, you will know the line, and you will know why it's redacted,

00:16:02.500 a victim's name, identifying information of a victim.

00:16:06.100 Grand jury information, too, will be redacted.

00:16:08.980 On Monday, the head of the FBI's New York Division, James Dennehy, was forced to resign

00:16:13.700 from his post.

00:16:15.020 Mr. Dennehy, writing in a letter to his staffers, quote,

00:16:17.440 In addition to overseeing the office withholding the Epstein files from the DOJ,

00:16:30.160 Mr. Dennehy made headlines in January thanks to an email he sent to staffers following the

00:16:34.720 DOJ's request for a list of every agent who worked on the January 6th cases.

00:16:39.720 Mr. Dennehy telling his staffers,

00:16:41.880 Today we find ourselves in the middle of a battle of our own as good people are being

00:16:46.340 walked out of the FBI, and others are being targeted because they did their jobs in accordance

00:16:51.580 with the law and FBI policy.

00:16:54.060 Mr. Dennehy continued on, quote,

00:16:55.980 Time for me to dig in, end quote.

00:16:58.700 His resignation is the latest sign from Team Trump that internal resistance will not be tolerated.

00:17:04.780 And that'll do it for your AM update.
