00:02:46.820 and Mr. Trump, as well as Vice President J.D. Vance. President Trump posting on Truth Social, quote,

00:02:53.020 this is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelensky and America will not put up with it for

00:02:58.120 much longer, a harbinger of what was to come later in the day. Late Monday, the president announcing

00:03:04.520 a pause to military aid for Ukraine. Bloomberg citing a senior Defense Department official in

00:03:10.980 reporting this pause will remain in effect until Ukrainian leaders demonstrate a good-faith

00:03:16.380 commitment to peace. Mr. Trump says Mr. Zelensky does not want peace, not as long as he has America's

00:03:22.800 backing. Mr. Trump also noting European leaders told Zelensky peace cannot be achieved without U.S.

00:03:29.120 support. Russian President Vladimir Putin has yet to publicly comment on the fallout from the

00:03:34.380 Oval Office meeting. Several Russian officials expressing enthusiasm for the deterioration in

00:03:40.180 relations. A Kremlin spokesperson saying the rapidly changing foreign policy messaging of the Trump

00:03:45.680 administration, quote, largely aligns with our vision. Democrats remain highly critical of the White House.

00:03:51.960 The president of the United States is a coward who is Vladimir Putin's puppet. It was so embarrassing

00:03:59.120 to me as an American. I just want to say that publicly. This is not the way our leaders have ever

00:04:49.480 president last week. I also welcome the president's continued commitment to that peace, which nobody in

00:04:56.220 this House should doubt for a second is sincere. In the lead up to President Trump's pause on funding

00:05:03.540 late last night, National Security Advisor Mike Walls on Fox News warned the Ukrainians U.S. aid is not

00:05:10.860 unconditional. Success looks like President Zelensky sitting down and talking the terms of peace,

00:05:18.420 talking about what he needs to see, Ukraine needs to see to get to a partial ceasefire, a permanent

00:05:25.740 ceasefire and an end to this war. But here's the problem. Time is not on his side. Time is not on the

00:05:32.820 side of just forever continuing this conflict. The American people's patience is not unlimited.

00:05:39.420 Their wallets are not unlimited. And our stockpiles and munitions are not unlimited that we need for

00:05:45.240 all kinds of contingencies around the world. Yesterday afternoon, President Trump was asked

00:05:49.980 if the minerals deal could be revived. Well, I'll let you know we're making a speech. You probably heard

00:05:54.760 about it tomorrow night, so I'll let you know tomorrow night. But no, I don't think so. I think

00:05:58.460 I want to see it end fast. I don't want to see this go on for years and years. Now,

00:06:05.880 President Zelensky supposedly made a statement today in AP. I'm not a big fan of AP, so maybe

00:06:11.820 it was an incorrect statement. But he said he thinks the war's going to go on for a long time.

00:06:18.200 And he better not be right about that.

00:06:20.060 The president mentioning his team was working on next steps, describing a fluid situation.

00:06:25.140 Mr. Trump told reporters he wants the killing to stop, citing his intelligence briefings showing

00:06:30.160 thousands of young men, Ukrainian and Russian, are being killed each week. President Trump says

00:06:35.540 he wants to see the war ended on a humanitarian basis.

00:06:38.720 25 percent tariffs on Mexico and Canada going into effect as of midnight last night. The tariffs

00:08:00.320 That same day, Customs and Border Protection seized more than $872,000 worth of cocaine from a vehicle

00:08:13.140 the Mexican government extradited 29 drug bosses to United States prisons for trial last week,

00:08:19.820 including Rafael Caro Quintero, who was wanted for killing a DEA agent in 1985.

00:08:26.640 The New York Times reporting on the effect of the crackdown on cartel members, writing, quote,

00:08:31.540 one cartel leader says he's trying to figure out how to protect his family in case the American

00:08:36.780 military strikes inside Mexico. Another saying he's already gone into hiding, rarely leaving his home.

00:08:47.740 they genuinely feared arrest or death at the hands of authorities. U.S. officials still not yet

00:08:54.100 satisfied. The Wall Street Journal reporting Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth warned Mexican

00:08:59.480 officials if they, quote, did not deal with the collusion between their country's government

00:09:04.200 and drug cartels, the U.S. military was prepared to take unilateral action.

00:14:26.400 remarks set to begin at nine Eastern. Last night, Senate Majority Leader Thune brought the Protection

00:14:32.760 of Women and Girls Act to the floor for a procedural vote. This was the vote that would decide if the

00:14:38.420 Senate will have a substantive vote later on the actual bill. This procedural vote for cloture requires

00:14:46.060 60 votes to pass, meaning seven Democrats would have had to join with Republicans to advance the bill

00:14:52.320 to a real vote. The cloture vote came out to 51-45. Every single Democrat and both so-called

00:15:00.840 independents, Senators Bernie Sanders and Angus King, voting against the bill, refusing to even allow

00:15:08.400 a real vote on it. Shame on them. In the House, the bill passed by a slim margin, 218 to 206. Just two

00:15:16.920 Democrats breaking from their party to pass the measure, Congressman Henry Cuellar of Laredo, Texas,

00:15:21.900 and Congressman Vicente Gonzalez of McAllen, Texas. The now-defeated bill specified for athletic

00:15:28.700 purposes, sex is solely determined by an athlete's biology at birth, something favored by 80 percent of

00:15:36.820 the American people. It also would have amended Title IX to bar federal funding to any educational

00:15:42.940 institution allowing biological males to participate in female sports. The legislation would have codified

00:15:49.420 President Trump's executive orders on this subject into law. Without this legislation, President Trump's

00:15:55.460 executive orders protecting girls' sports can be overturned with ease by a future administration.
