00:02:05.040 President Trump delivering fiery remarks in front of the UN General Assembly yesterday morning,
00:02:10.040 taking aim directly at the UN itself. But first, upon arriving, his escalator broke down.
00:02:17.100 Then a teleprompter malfunction, forcing the president to deliver remarks off a paper copy.
00:02:22.540 Press Secretary Caroline Levitt later sharing on X an article from UK paper The Times last week,
00:02:28.600 in which the paper reported, quote,
00:02:30.180 To mark Trump's arrival, UN staff members have joked that they may turn off the escalators and elevators
00:02:36.380 and simply tell him they ran out of money, so he has to walk up the stairs.
00:02:41.240 Since taking office in January, the administration working to revamp U.S. foreign aid programs,
00:02:46.420 cutting billions in funding, and canceling thousands of contracts across the government.
00:02:51.020 Levitt calling for an investigation, saying if someone intentionally stopped that escalator,
00:02:55.180 that person needs to be fired. A UN spokesperson responding, quote,
00:02:59.740 The safety mechanism was inadvertently triggered by someone who was ahead of the president on the
00:03:05.760 escalator. Video of the moment does show a few people ahead of the president and first lady on
00:03:10.800 the escalator, though it's unclear who they were and whether what the UN says happened is true.
00:03:16.880 The Secret Service also taking heat. Real Clear Politics investigative reporter Susan Crabtree,
00:03:21.840 who covers the Secret Service, posting on X, quote,
00:03:25.300 The stalled escalator with President Trump and First Lady Melania stuck on it was a classic setup
00:03:30.440 for an assassination hit. Yet the Secret Service barely noticed and didn't pull POTUS and FLOTUS
00:03:35.980 off the suddenly stopped stairs. Crabtree continues, quote,
00:03:39.500 Sources in the Secret Service community are very concerned about what they witnessed from fellow agents
00:03:43.800 today when President Trump was stalled and vulnerable. It's a similar critique to the Secret
00:03:48.600 Service's delayed response and getting Trump offstage after a bullet grazed his ear on July 13th of last
00:03:55.700 year. Press Secretary Leavitt disclosing late last night the Secret Service is investigating the
00:04:01.280 matter. The escalator incident combined with the faulty teleprompter only adding fuel to President
00:04:06.720 Trump's speech, taking aim at the very existence of the United Nations.
00:04:10.960 I ended seven wars, dealt with the leaders of each and every one of these countries and never even
00:04:17.240 received a phone call from the United Nations offering to help in finalizing the deal.
00:04:23.480 All I got from the United Nations was an escalator that on the way up stopped right in the middle
00:04:28.920 and then a teleprompter that didn't work. This is these are the two things I got from the United
00:04:35.280 Nations, a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter. I realized that the United Nations wasn't there for
00:04:41.320 us. That being the case, what is the purpose of the United Nations? The UN has such tremendous
00:04:47.080 potential. I've always said it, but it's not even coming close to living up to that potential.
00:04:53.560 For the most part, at least for now, all they seem to do is write a really strongly worded letter
00:04:59.040 and then never follow that letter up. It's empty words and empty words don't solve war. The only
00:05:05.740 thing that solves war and wars is action. That sentiment echoing the president's UN speeches
00:05:11.940 from the first administration, largely rejecting globalism as a failed experiment. Mr. Trump hitting
00:05:18.380 on a variety of topics, but mostly focusing on what he believes are existential threats to Western
00:05:23.760 society, open borders and religious like adherence to so-called green energy policies. The president
00:05:30.460 accusing the UN of partly funding mass migration into the US. Not only is the UN not solving the
00:05:37.600 problems it should too often, it's actually creating new problems for us to solve. The best example is
00:05:44.800 the number one political issue of our time, the crisis of uncontrolled migration. It's uncontrolled.
00:05:50.880 Your countries are being ruined. The United Nations is funding an assault on Western countries and their
00:05:57.300 borders. In 2024, the UN budgeted $372 million in cash assistance to support an estimated 624,000 migrants
00:06:07.880 journeying into the United States. What took place is totally unacceptable. The UN is supposed to stop invasions,
00:06:15.880 not create them and not finance them. You're destroying your countries. They're being destroyed.
00:06:22.380 Europe is in serious trouble. They've been invaded by a force of illegal aliens like nobody's ever seen
00:06:28.820 before. President Trump touting his administration's work sealing the border and encouraging other
00:06:33.940 countries, especially in Europe, to do the same. Trump's next target, the green agenda. Mr. Trump ridiculing
00:06:41.480 its sacred tenets from windmills to carbon footprints, calling it the greatest con job
00:06:46.980 ever perpetrated on the world. Energy is another area where the United States is now thriving like
00:06:52.960 never before. We're getting rid of the falsely named renewables. Those big windmills are so pathetic
00:06:59.840 and so bad, so expensive to operate, and they have to be rebuilt all the time and they start to rust and rot.
00:07:06.480 And I'm telling you that if you don't get away from the green energy scam, your country is going to
00:07:13.140 fail. So all of these countries are working so hard on the carbon footprint, which is nonsense, by the
00:07:18.860 way. It's nonsense. And if we had the most clean air, and I think we do, other countries, like China,
00:07:25.800 which has air that's a little bit rough, it blows. And no matter what you're doing down here,
00:07:31.660 the air up here, tends to get very dirty because it comes in from other countries where there are
00:07:37.020 airs and so clean. And the environmentalists refuse to acknowledge that. The president then spending
00:07:42.500 the day meeting with heads of several other countries, including Argentina, the EU, officials
00:07:47.440 from the Middle East, and the president of Ukraine. After his meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr
00:07:53.460 Zelensky, President Trump dramatically shifting his message about the Russia-Ukraine war, calling Russia
00:07:59.260 a paper tiger, saying Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years, a war that
00:08:04.440 should have taken a real military power less than a week to win. Mr. Trump, for the first time, saying
00:08:09.920 Ukraine, with the help of the EU, is in a position to, quote, win all of Ukraine back in its original
00:08:16.480 form, end quote, which has been Ukraine's goal from the start. But one Mr. Trump previously has made
00:08:22.280 clear he does not view as realistic. On Tuesday, President Trump going so far to suggest Ukraine could
00:08:27.940 also, quote, who knows, maybe even go further than that. The president continuing, quote, Putin and
00:08:33.820 Russia are in big economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act. President Trump saying the
00:08:39.460 U.S. will continue selling weapons to NATO and that NATO can, quote, do what they want with them.
00:08:45.260 When asked if he still trusts Mr. Putin, Mr. Trump replying, I'll let you know in about a month.
00:08:50.980 As for the recent Russian jets and drones flying over Poland, Romania, and Estonia,
00:08:55.680 testing NATO's defenses, President Trump saying NATO countries should shoot down Russian military
00:09:01.120 aircraft. Asked if the U.S. would support them, Mr. Trump saying, it depends. Mr. Zelensky's take?
00:09:07.900 President Trump is slowly seeing that Putin's words are, quote, far away from the truth.
00:09:13.540 Democrats and independents continue to favor U.S. support for Ukraine, militarily and otherwise,
00:09:18.960 as do traditional Republicans. An August 2025 Gallup poll shows a majority of Republicans, however,
00:09:25.100 69 percent, favor ending this war quickly, even if it means Ukraine ceding territory.
00:09:31.620 MAGA-aligned Republicans are the least enthusiastic about providing more aid to Ukraine.
00:09:39.180 Sometimes world leaders really are just like us. A now viral video showing French President
00:09:44.340 Emmanuel Macron stuck behind pedestrian barriers in New York City Monday night,
00:09:49.000 ahead of President Trump's arrival for U.N. festivities. With intersections frozen and thousands
00:09:54.800 waiting as NYPD held traffic, President Macron apparently growing impatient. French media outlet Brut
00:10:01.780 reporting Mr. Macron's own motorcade was stuck behind one of the barriers when he exited his vehicle,
00:10:08.060 imploring an NYPD officer to let him cross.
00:10:11.120 I'm sorry, I'm the president. I'm really sorry. Everything's in frozen right now. There's a
00:10:16.440 motorcade coming right now. If you don't see it, let me cross.
00:10:20.840 Mr. Macron then appearing to enlist some backup from President Trump.
00:10:24.900 How are you? Guess what? I'm waiting because everything is frozen for you.
00:10:33.220 Mr. Macron, been there. That call went nowhere. Instead, cameras capturing President Macron,
00:10:39.440 hoofing it to the French embassy, posing for pictures with fellow pedestrians along the way.
00:10:47.260 59-year-old Ryan Ruth found guilty on all five charges against him related to his attempt to
00:10:52.900 assassinate then-candidate Trump on his West Palm Beach golf course last year.
00:10:57.880 Ruth appearing to attempt to stab himself in the neck with a pen. As the verdict was read,
00:11:03.540 Fox News reporting four marshals then carrying Ruth out of the courtroom,
00:11:06.980 shackling his waist and ankles before returning him to the courtroom. Ruth's daughter then reportedly
00:11:12.880 shouting out to her father, urging him not to do anything to himself, and saying she would get him
00:11:18.040 out of there. The daughter then seen on video hurrying away from the courthouse. The jury deliberating
00:11:23.800 for less than three hours before delivering guilty verdicts on all five charges, including the attempted
00:11:29.340 assassination of a major presidential candidate. Ruth is due back in court December 18th for sentencing
00:11:35.080 he faces up to life in prison. President Trump posting to Truth Social, quote,
00:11:39.920 congratulations to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Tad Blanche, and the entire DOJ
00:11:45.760 team on the conviction, in Florida, of the person who attempted an assassination on my life.
00:11:52.260 Coming up, President Trump and Democrat leaders in a showdown as the government funding deadline
00:11:57.180 looms again. And Kamala Harris returns to The View, almost a year after her disastrous appearance.
00:12:05.080 As President Trump is settling into his new administration, one of the top Democrats in
00:12:12.880 Congress aiming to undermine the Trump agenda is Democrat Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois.
00:12:18.320 And according to our sponsor, the Electronic Payments Coalition, Senator Durbin has a new plan,
00:12:24.340 a government takeover of your credit card. Today, Americans have thousands of choices in credit cards,
00:12:29.560 but they say Senator Durbin's plan will result in less competition and less security,
00:12:34.540 which means more risk for your credit and your identity. You can learn more for yourself at
00:12:39.800 guardyourcard.com. And you could consider telling your senators to stop Dick Durbin's government
00:12:45.800 takeover of your credit card before it's too late.
00:12:49.040 President Trump may have signed the big, beautiful bill to pay for his second-term agenda into law,
00:12:57.460 but that doesn't mean his annual budget is funded. That's its own fight, and it's not going well.
00:13:03.960 The president on Tuesday canceling an upcoming meeting with Democratic leadership to negotiate
00:13:08.300 on a stopgap funding measure ahead of the October 1st government shutdown deadline. Over the weekend,
00:13:14.480 House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sending President
00:13:18.820 Trump a joint letter demanding a meeting, writing they will not support a, quote,
00:13:22.840 dirty spending bill that continues what they call a Republican assault on health care.
00:13:27.720 With no power to do anything other than block Senate votes from reaching the floor,
00:13:32.560 Democrats appearing to lay the groundwork for a government shutdown. Mr. Trump, yesterday on
00:13:37.620 Truth Social, seeming to call the bluff, writing the demands by the, quote,
00:13:41.440 minority radical left Democrats are unserious and ridiculous. Quote,
00:13:46.480 they're threatening to shut down the government of the U.S. unless they can have over $1 trillion
00:13:50.380 in new spending to continue free health care for illegal aliens, a monumental cost,
00:13:56.000 force taxpayers to fund transgender surgery for minors, have dead people on the Medicaid rolls,
00:14:01.480 allow illegal alien criminals to steal billions of dollars in American taxpayer benefits,
00:14:06.340 try to force our country to again open our borders to criminals and to the world,
00:14:09.980 allow men to play in women's sports, and essentially create transgender operations
00:14:14.580 for everybody. The president going on to say he looks forward to meeting with Democrats if they
00:14:19.320 get serious about the future of the nation. As the deadline looms, calls growing on the left
00:14:24.360 urging Democrats to force a shutdown in order to generate political traction. Progressive journalist
00:14:29.920 Ezra Klein, writing for the New York Times earlier this month, quote,
00:14:33.280 right now Democrats have no power, so no one cares what they have to say. A shutdown would make people
00:14:39.040 listen. Senate Republicans need seven Democrats to join in passing a continuing resolution.
00:14:45.180 The last time around, Senator Schumer caved at the 11th hour, passing the CR,
00:14:49.460 drawing heavy criticism from within his own party.
00:14:53.980 Former Vice President Kamala Harris joining The View on Tuesday, promoting her new book,
00:14:59.080 wallowing in her 2024 election loss, and attempting to rewrite the history of one of her most
00:15:04.020 catastrophic campaign blunders. A little flashback here to October 8th, 2024, four weeks until Election
00:15:10.980 Day, the vice president appearing in friendly territory, The View, where she was asked what was
00:15:17.180 supposed to be a softball question by co-host Sunny Hostin.
00:15:21.780 Well, if anything, would you have done something differently than President Biden during the past four
00:15:29.440 years? There is not a thing that comes to mind in terms of, and I've been a part of most of the
00:15:37.300 decisions that have had impact. Not the answer America was hoping to hear, apparently, as Democrats
00:15:43.320 winced, the Trump campaign quickly turning that answer into a campaign ad. Many 2024 postmortems
00:15:49.600 pointing directly to that moment as the clearest indication that she did not know what she was doing
00:15:54.580 and she was about to fail. Yesterday, Sunny Hostin appearing somewhat emotional, asking Ms. Harris
00:16:01.080 about that moment. And you said, quote, there is not a thing that comes to mind, end quote. You write,
00:16:08.260 you had no idea, you just pulled the pin on a hand grenade. In the moment, I knew. The Trump campaign
00:16:15.060 weaponized your answer against you, my question. And some, including James Carville and Jake Tapper,
00:16:22.900 point to that answer as a turning point in your candidacy. Do you think that moment tipped the
00:16:28.280 election? No. Good, because Sunny doesn't want to take the blame. Oh, we know. According to the
00:16:35.520 former Veep then, she simply wasn't aware that voters were curious about what she personally believed
00:16:41.680 as candidate for President of the United States. I'm a loyal person, and I didn't fully appreciate
00:16:50.880 how much people wanted to know there was a difference between me and President Biden.
00:16:57.620 I thought it was obvious. And I didn't want to offer a difference in a way that would be received
00:17:04.140 or suggested to be a criticism. And I thought I was making the point. And I realize now that
00:17:10.680 I didn't fully appreciate how much of an issue it was.
00:17:15.300 You see, it's our fault. It's our fault if we didn't know what was going on inside that bizarre
00:17:21.040 head of hers. Despite her repeated statements that 2028 is not on her radar, many speculating
00:17:28.040 that another shot at the White House is in the works for Ms. Harris as she steps back into the
00:17:33.160 spotlight. Chief data analyst at CNN, Harry Enten, crunching the numbers, finding that absence from
00:17:39.020 the campaign trail is not exactly making voters' hearts grow fonder.
00:17:43.040 Well, let's take a look at her net favorable ratings nationwide. You know, back in October
00:17:47.020 of 2024, she was at minus five points. Not exactly great, but pretty close to the zero mark,
00:17:52.540 right? Pretty close to even. But now, down under she goes. She's at minus 13 points. That's an
00:17:58.180 eight-point drop since the general election among the overall electorate. She is not well-liked at this
00:18:04.100 particular point. The American people, they don't want this. They don't want her. And get this,
00:18:08.580 she's 37 points underwater with independents. If you can't win independents, you can't win the
00:18:14.620 election. And the bottom line is, with those in the center of the electorate, those who are the
00:18:18.560 most up for grabs, she is way, way, way underwater. She is definitely swimming with the fishes.
00:18:25.060 And not just any fishes, but the catfish, the ones who swim at the very bottom of the water.
00:18:31.000 Love that, Harry Enten.
00:18:31.960 And that'll do it for your AM update. I'm Megan Kelly. Join me back here for The Megan Kelly Show,
