00:00:32.500 Good morning, everyone.
00:00:33.920 I'm Steve Krakauer, executive producer of The Megyn Kelly Show and AM Update.
00:00:37.920 It's Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, and this is your AM Update.
00:00:41.680 This was just an excursion into something that had to be done.
00:00:46.320 President Trump adopting a new term for Operation Epic Fury
00:00:49.500 and delivering an update on the strikes as oil prices swing wildly on Monday.
00:00:53.600 He also told investigators that he had hoped to carry out an attack even bigger than the
00:00:58.960 Boston Marathon bombing.
00:01:00.800 Two men who admit to being inspired by ISIS now facing terrorism charges after throwing
00:01:05.660 explosive devices at an anti-Islam protest in New York City.
00:01:09.680 New Epstein files potentially shedding light on the autopsy that fueled years of speculation
00:01:14.620 surrounding the disgraced financier's cause of death.
00:01:17.420 And a woman accused of opening fire on pop star Rihanna's home now facing an attempted
00:01:22.900 murder charge.
00:01:24.140 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.

00:02:33.840 President Trump delivering an update last night on Operation Epic Fury targeting Iran.
00:02:39.380 Mr. Trump adopting a new term for the conflict, repeatedly referring to the operation as, quote,
00:02:43.960 a little excursion, rather than a war, amid growing concerns among Americans about a widening
00:02:49.660 conflict.
00:02:50.840 Mr. Trump again emphasizing the operation is nearly complete, providing information on the
00:02:55.540 damage inflicted on Iran, while also indicating the U.S. could potentially go further.
00:03:00.300 We're achieving major strides toward completing our military objective.
00:03:05.720 And some people could say they're pretty well complete.
00:03:09.740 We've wiped every single force in Iran out very completely. 1.00
00:03:16.340 Most of Iran's naval power has been sunk.
00:03:20.880 I was just notified it's 51 ships.
00:03:23.620 Their drones are way down.
00:03:25.780 Their drone manufacturing has been hit starting today.
00:03:29.380 We're also hitting where they make missiles and where they deliver missiles.
00:03:34.620 We've struck over 5,000 targets to date, some of them very major targets.
00:03:39.940 And we've left some of the most important targets for later.
00:03:43.160 If we hit them, it's going to take many years for them to be rebuilt,
00:03:47.440 having to do with electricity production and many other things.
00:03:52.860 The remarks coming after a day of rapidly fluctuating oil prices,
00:03:56.600 crude prices spiking Monday, nearly hitting $120 per barrel.
00:04:01.140 Yesterday afternoon, the president telling CBS News in a phone interview,
00:04:04.360 the war is, quote, very complete, pretty much.
00:04:07.400 Oil prices ending the day back down to around $90,
00:04:10.740 though still higher than before the operation began,
00:04:13.560 when the price of a barrel was around $70.
00:04:16.440 President Trump outlining a multi-pronged effort to stabilize prices as the operation continues.
00:04:21.840 I will not allow a terrorist regime to hold the world hostage
00:04:25.580 and attempt to stop the globe's oil supply.
00:04:28.140 And in the long run, oil supplies will be dramatically more secure
00:04:31.660 without the threat of Iranian ships, drones, missiles, nuclear menace, or anything.
00:04:37.820 We have a lot of Navy ships there.
00:04:39.620 We have the best equipment in the world inspecting for mines.
00:04:44.580 Again, most of their ships are down at the bottom of the sea.
00:04:47.720 We're putting an end to all of this threat once and for all.
00:04:50.740 This was just an excursion into something that had to be done.
00:04:55.520 In the meantime, during this brief disruption,
00:04:58.600 the United States is offering political risk insurance to any tankers operating in the Gulf.
00:05:03.240 So we're also waiving certain oil-related sanctions to reduce prices.
00:05:08.420 So we have sanctions on some countries.
00:05:10.360 We're going to take those sanctions off until this straightens out.
00:05:13.840 When the time comes, the U.S. Navy and its partners will escort tankers through the straight if needed.
00:05:19.440 I hope it's not going to be needed, but if it's needed, we'll escort them right through.
00:05:23.500 The president declining to elaborate on which specific oil sanctions would be lifted.
00:05:28.260 Elsewhere in the press conference, Mr. Trump questioned about the strike on an Iranian girls' school,
00:05:32.640 reportedly resulting in the deaths of as many as 175 people, mostly girls, between the ages of 7 and 12.
00:05:38.420 Multiple news outlets, including CNN and the New York Times, conducting analysis finding it likely
00:05:43.800 that U.S. military forces were responsible for accidentally hitting the school.
00:05:48.160 Yesterday, Mr. Trump saying tomahawk missiles, like the one used in the school strike, are, quote,
00:05:52.580 generic and operated by many other countries.
00:05:55.480 One reporter asking a follow-up on the subject.
00:05:57.940 Mr. President, you just suggested that Iran somehow got its hands on a tomahawk
00:06:02.660 and bombed its own elementary school on the first day of the war.
00:06:05.600 But you're the only person in your government saying this.
00:06:07.560 Even your defense secretary wouldn't say that when he was asked, standing over your shoulder
00:06:11.320 on your plane on Saturday.
00:06:12.980 Why are you the only person saying this?
00:06:14.460 Because I just don't know enough about it.
00:06:16.360 I think it's something that I was told is under investigation.
00:06:20.820 But tomahawks are used by others, as you know.
00:06:25.060 Numerous other nations have tomahawks.
00:06:27.060 They buy them from us.
00:06:28.700 But I will certainly, whatever the report shows, I'm willing to live with that report.
00:06:33.780 It's unclear when a full report on the strike will come out.
00:06:36.420 President Trump attempting to balance two messages, one portraying the little excursion
00:06:41.280 as largely complete, the other signaling the U.S. can continue, expanding to ever greater
00:06:46.780 targets.
00:06:47.820 One reporter asking the president what he considers a win.
00:06:50.560 Where they're not going to be starting the following day to develop a nuclear weapon.
00:06:57.460 They were not willing to say that.
00:06:59.980 And when Steve called up and he said that to me, I said, well, here we go.
00:07:04.760 Let's do it the hard way.
00:07:06.500 When basically I can see that they will no longer have any capacity whatsoever for a very long
00:07:12.820 period of time of developing weaponry that could be used against the United States, Israel or any of
00:07:21.720 our allies. If I didn't hit them first, they were going to hit our allies first.
00:07:25.840 But I believe that he was going to he was they were going to take over the Middle East. 0.92
00:07:30.040 They were looking to take over the Middle East. 0.99
00:07:31.620 Now, had Operation Midnight Hammer not taken place, that was definite because they would
00:07:39.560 have had a nuclear weapon within a matter of weeks.
00:07:42.260 But that took place.
00:07:43.480 That was a setback.
00:07:44.540 But look at the number of missiles they were able to buy and make over the last six months.
00:07:51.220 Quinnipiac yesterday releasing a poll finding President Trump's overall approval rating at
00:07:55.240 37 percent with 57 percent disapproving.
00:07:58.100 The lowest net approval rating of his second term, 53 percent of voters opposing the operation
00:08:03.180 against Iran, with 40 percent in favor.
00:08:05.660 Among Republicans, 85 percent support versus 11 percent opposing.
00:08:09.920 62 percent of respondents saying the Trump administration has not provided a clear
00:08:14.360 explanation of the reasons behind the operation, with 35 percent saying it has.
00:08:20.280 Two men charged in federal court with attempting to carry out an ISIS-inspired attack at an anti-Islam
00:08:26.100 protest near the mayor's residence Saturday in New York City.
00:08:29.560 18-year-old Amir Balat and 19-year-old Ibrahim Kayoumi each facing five criminal counts including
00:08:35.440 use of a weapon of mass destruction, transportation of explosive materials, and unlawful possession
00:08:40.820 of destructive devices.
00:08:43.000 Balat captured on video at the protest throwing what authorities now say was an improvised explosive
00:08:47.400 device into the crowd, then running, grabbing a second device from Kayoumi, lighting it, and
00:08:52.240 dropping the bomb on the ground as he attempted to flee law enforcement.
00:08:56.240 Investigators saying the two traveled together from their homes in Pennsylvania prior to the
00:09:00.260 failed attack.
00:09:01.500 NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch saying both defendants admitted their actions were motivated
00:09:05.700 by ISIS.
00:09:07.440 Body camera footage capturing a moment when Kayoumi, already under arrest, was asked by an
00:09:12.100 onlooker why he carried out the attack.
00:09:14.540 Kayoumi responding, quote,
00:09:15.620 According to Tisch, Kayoumi later told investigators he had been watching ISIS propaganda videos on
00:09:21.480 his phone.
00:09:22.560 Tisch also describing statements Balat made to investigators after his arrest while being
00:09:26.960 transported to the precinct.
00:09:28.500 Balat made spontaneous statements without being questioned by NYPD officers that were captured
00:09:33.960 on body-worn camera footage.
00:09:36.220 He said,
00:09:36.740 This isn't a religion that just stands when people talk about the blessed name of the prophet.
00:09:42.260 We take action.
00:09:43.380 We take action.
00:09:44.760 As well as,
00:09:46.080 If I didn't do it,
00:09:47.580 someone else will come and do it.
00:09:51.160 And later,
00:09:52.180 after waiving his rights,
00:09:53.600 he requested paper and wrote a message declaring in part,
00:09:57.700 I pledge my allegiance to the Islamic State. 1.00
00:10:00.520 Die in your rage, 1.00
00:10:02.060 you kufar. 1.00
00:10:03.020 Now, 1.00
00:10:03.740 die in your rage is a commonly known ISIS slogan. 0.61
00:10:06.740 And kufar is an Arabic term that refers to non-believers.
00:10:12.800 He also told investigators that he had hoped to carry out an attack even bigger than the
00:10:17.800 Boston Marathon bombing, which he noted resulted in only three deaths.
00:10:23.420 Tisch also detailing the results of preliminary testing on the explosive devices,
00:10:27.640 as well as evidence recovered from a vehicle linked to the suspects parked near the protest.
00:10:32.380 Preliminary testing has determined that one of the devices contained triacetone,
00:10:36.400 triperoxide or TATP also commonly referred to as mother of Satan,
00:10:42.460 a highly volatile explosive that has been used in multiple terrorist attacks over the last decade.
00:10:48.400 As we have previously discussed,
00:10:50.460 the NYPD identified a vehicle yesterday on East End Avenue that was linked to the defendants.
00:10:56.040 Inside that vehicle,
00:10:57.080 investigators recovered handwritten notes referencing TATP explosive
00:11:02.340 and listing chemical ingredients for the type of explosive device used by the defendants on Saturday.
00:11:09.160 Balot and Kayumi appearing in court Monday, both men wearing orange handcuffs and white jumpsuits,
00:11:14.540 according to the Wall Street Journal, neither entering a plea.
00:11:17.620 The judge ordering both defendants held in custody until their next court appearance,
00:11:21.340 set for April 9th.
00:11:22.940 After the arraignment, Balot's attorney speaking with reporters.
00:11:25.420 I'm saying they're from different parts of Pennsylvania.
00:11:28.720 They're in different age groups.
00:11:30.360 They are not known to each other.
00:11:32.200 They did not live together.
00:11:33.660 They did not have family or school ties.
00:11:36.620 There is no reason to believe they knew each other prior to this incident.
00:11:40.660 And I don't know how well they knew each other at the time of the season.
00:11:43.680 Tish declining to provide further details about how the pair may have been radicalized.
00:11:47.040 Meanwhile, the New York Post reporting Kayumi's parents own a 5,800-square-foot home
00:11:52.180 in scenic Newtown, Pennsylvania.
00:11:54.360 Six-bedroom, five-bathroom property valued at $2.25 million.
00:11:58.500 According to Fox News, Kayumi's parents became naturalized U.S. citizens in the early 2000s
00:12:02.940 after coming from Afghanistan.
00:12:04.760 A neighbor telling the Post,
00:12:05.760 This is not the kind of place you think of when you think Islamic terror.
00:12:09.260 This is Americana here.
00:12:10.720 I guess what indoctrinates you online has nothing to do with location.
00:12:13.720 Coming up, newly released Epstein files shedding light on a lingering mystery
00:12:19.400 why the medical examiner initially left the matter of Jeffrey Epstein's death unresolved
00:12:23.840 and shots fired at pop star Rihanna's Los Angeles home.
00:12:27.660 What we know about the bizarre circumstances, next.
00:12:37.220 Let's talk about what's really happening right now.
00:12:39.540 New data shows that financial stress is at an all-time high for some.
00:12:44.200 Many Americans are at a breaking point.
00:12:46.460 Debt maxed out, no extra money, no room to breathe.

00:12:51.180 Listen, if debt has been weighing on you, you are not alone.
00:12:54.100 And when it comes to debt, waiting usually makes it worse.

00:13:00.500 But you do not need another loan or bankruptcy.

00:13:29.460 Go to donewithdebt.com.
00:13:31.100 That's donewithdebt.com.
00:13:35.300 Newly released documents shedding some light on why Jeffrey Epstein's autopsy report initially left the matter of death unresolved.
00:13:41.940 A delay fueling years of speculation.
00:13:44.480 New York City medical examiner Dr. Kristen Roman performing Epstein's autopsy on August 11th, 2019, one day after he was discovered dead in his cell.
00:13:52.480 The autopsy observed by Dr. Michael Bodden at the request of the disgraced financier's brother, Mark Epstein.
00:13:58.860 Dr. Bodden concluding then, and still believes, based on his observation of the body, that Epstein's death was a homicide.
00:14:04.900 At the time of the autopsy, Dr. Roman declined to check a box on the death certificate, indicating homicide or suicide, instead selecting pending studies.
00:14:14.460 Days later, New York City's chief medical examiner, Dr. Barbara Sampson, declaring Epstein's death a suicide based on, quote,
00:14:20.720 careful review of all investigative information.
00:14:23.800 Dr. Roman at the time not offering public comment on the matter.
00:14:27.160 Dr. Bodden's insistence that the death was a homicide in conjunction with the delay in the medical examiner's conclusion,
00:14:32.540 casting doubt for years over the circumstances of Epstein's death among many skeptics.
00:14:36.500 In 2023, the DOJ's inspector general releasing a report on Epstein's imprisonment, confirming that Dr. Roman did conclude that Epstein's death was suicide via hanging,
00:14:46.280 though that report did not address why she initially left the cause of death as pending.
00:14:50.700 The transcript of Dr. Roman's interview with the DOJ released in the Epstein files, shining light on the investigation into the cause of death.
00:14:58.020 Dr. Roman telling investigators she was, quote, being thorough, going on to say, quote,
00:15:01.860 If he had been a less high-profile person who there weren't people wanting to kill, I would have probably called it a hanging on the day of autopsy.
00:15:09.280 The doctor calling it a, quote, pretty clear-cut case, but telling investigators she wanted to examine Epstein's cell and speak to the guard who found his body before making her final determination.
00:15:18.800 Dr. Roman stating in a sworn interview that she was not allowed to speak to the prison guards or view Epstein's cell,
00:15:23.960 but she did examine photos of the room, according to Business Insider.
00:15:26.760 Dr. Baden maintaining the neck fractures he observed on Epstein are more commonly associated with strangulation.
00:15:32.920 Dr. Roman telling investigators those same injury patterns support her conclusion,
00:15:36.820 explaining pressure applied by another person would have produced different, uneven fractures.
00:15:41.620 And the mystery continues.
00:15:44.720 A Florida woman facing attempted murder charges after allegedly opening fire Sunday afternoon on the Los Angeles home of pop star and entrepreneur Rihanna while she was inside.
00:15:54.560 Police saying 35-year-old Ivana Ortiz fired multiple rounds at the home from a white Tesla across the street.
00:16:01.420 Dispatch audio from the incident reporting about 10 shots fired.
00:16:04.740 Neighbor Isabel Thorne describing the moment to reporters from NBC and CBS yesterday.
00:16:09.260 I was just washing dishes in my house and I heard shots.
00:16:12.760 I was a little shocked.
00:16:14.320 You know, we don't hear that kind of thing in this neighborhood.
00:16:16.620 It's pretty quiet.
