00:02:23.720 Hostilities in the war in Iran continuing over the weekend,
00:02:26.520 with the U.S. bombing Iran's Karg Island on Friday.
00:02:29.560 Karg Island is home to Iran's most critical oil terminal,
00:02:32.360 with 90% of the country's exports moving through facilities there.
00:02:35.600 President Trump's claiming to have, quote,
00:02:37.800 obliterated the military targets on the island,
00:02:40.380 but writing on True Social, quote,
00:02:42.200 Trump going on to write that if Iran continued to, quote,
00:02:49.520 interfere with the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz,
00:02:53.480 I will immediately reconsider this decision.
00:02:56.160 President Trump's speaking with NBC's Kristen Welker about a number of issues related to the war,
00:03:00.520 with the president claiming Iran has been defeated militarily,
00:03:03.940 but that the time is not right for the U.S. to make a deal.
00:03:06.840 President Trump told me in a phone interview Saturday that Iran has been defeated militarily.
00:03:13.460 He also said Tehran is ready to make a deal, but the terms aren't good enough yet,
00:03:18.800 declining to say what those terms are.
00:03:21.440 The president added that he is hearing the new supreme leader is dead, but did not provide evidence.
00:03:27.740 And all eyes are on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most vital shipping lanes for oil.
00:03:33.220 Iran has all but shut it down, pushing oil prices over $100 a barrel.
00:03:39.120 The president telling me the U.S. is working with other countries to try to secure the Strait,
00:03:43.940 while acknowledging Iran could still make trouble by dropping mines to try to blow up ships in transit.
00:03:50.660 President Trump last night aboard Air Force One addressing the latest on the conflict with Iran.
00:03:55.520 We had some very good results today, as you probably heard, in Iran.
00:04:00.640 Very strong results militarily.
00:04:03.680 We're talking to countries about policing the Strait, because they are the ones, you know,
00:04:10.160 we don't get oil very little, 1%, 2%.
00:04:13.280 And China is an example, gets about 90% of its oil from the Hormuz Strait.
00:04:18.460 And it's nice to have other countries policing with us, and we'll help, we'll work with them.
00:04:26.200 Iran has very little firepower left. 0.98
00:04:29.320 Their missiles are down to a low number.
00:04:31.380 You see, they're shooting very few of them.
00:04:34.020 You know why?
00:04:34.520 Because they don't have very many of them.
00:04:35.980 And because we've decimated their manufacturing capability, likewise, the drones are way down.
00:04:42.380 They're down to about 20% of what they had.
00:04:44.520 Still have some, you know, pretty tough.
00:04:47.860 But the drones are down, and we're hitting, we're starting hitting, as of yesterday,
00:04:52.860 we're hitting places where they manufactured the drones.
00:04:56.040 We think most of which we know where they are.
00:04:58.380 So it's a very strong military operation, just as it was in Venezuela.
00:05:04.020 Iran and its proxies continuing to fight back, with the U.S. Embassy in Iraq hit with a missile attack Saturday.
00:05:10.100 No injuries were reported, but the Associated Press reporting a missile struck a helipad inside the complex.
00:05:15.760 The U.S. Embassy in Iraq urging all Americans to leave Iraq due to the conflict with Iran.
00:05:20.720 And more attacks inside Iraq yesterday, with five missiles striking Baghdad International Airport,
00:05:25.620 resulting in four injuries from airport staff and security personnel.
00:05:29.800 Iran's foreign minister appearing on CBS's Face the Nation yesterday,
00:05:33.840 saying his country has no desire to start talks with the Americans about ending the war.
00:05:37.840 President Trump said this weekend he is not ready to make a deal with Iran because the terms aren't good enough yet.
00:05:46.260 His administration is saying this war could last another three and a half weeks or so.
00:05:52.520 Has Iran asked for a ceasefire?
00:05:54.920 No, we never asked for a ceasefire, and we have never asked even for negotiation.
00:06:01.880 We are ready to defend ourselves as long as it takes.
00:06:05.580 Sir, this is a war of survival for your government.
00:06:09.200 Minister, don't you have to negotiate and reach out, either directly or through a third party?
00:06:15.400 No, it's not a war of survival.
00:06:16.940 We are, you know, stable and strong enough.
00:06:20.240 We are only defending our people from, you know, this act of aggression.
00:06:27.860 And we don't see any reason why we should talk with Americans because we were talking with them when they decided to attack us. 1.00
00:06:37.520 And that was for the second time.
00:06:39.260 There is no good experience talking with Americans. 0.82
00:06:42.660 Israel also continuing its involvement, launching more strikes on Iran Sunday, as well as striking Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon early Monday morning.
00:06:51.540 Here at home, the price of gas and oil due to the conflict continuing to be a concern.
00:06:55.780 Gas prices reaching $3.70 nationally Sunday, up from $2.92 a month ago, according to AAA.
00:07:02.280 The price of oil also trading above $100 a barrel Sunday night.
00:07:06.960 Energy Secretary Chris Wright, appearing on ABC's This Week yesterday, saying he couldn't guarantee that gas prices would soon come down, but saying the war is worth its costs.
00:07:16.620 Are you really sure it's going to be short term?
00:07:20.700 Can you guarantee it'll just be weeks before prices go down?
00:07:24.600 Hey, there's no guarantees in wars at all.
00:07:27.160 I can guarantee the situation would be dramatically worse without this military operation to defang the Iranian regime. 0.97
00:07:36.040 The Straits of Hormuz, Martha, as you're implying, are very important for global commerce and for energy commerce.
00:07:42.260 And they impact energy prices, as we're all seeing.
00:07:45.780 They have used this threat for 47 years, and they've continued to build up their arsenal to make this threat graver and graver.
00:07:54.160 In fact, it would soon be too hard for us to defang Iran if they were nuclear armed. 0.99
00:08:00.880 So this is short term pain to get through to a much better place where the Middle East can no longer be held hostage by the one rogue nation in Iran. 0.90
00:08:12.020 Still, Secretary Wright expressing optimism that the conflict will end in just a few weeks.
00:08:16.280 How long should Americans expect for gas prices to be high?
00:08:21.160 Are we talking weeks?
00:08:22.280 Are we talking months?
00:08:23.260 Or just don't know at this point?
00:08:25.620 Yeah, I think that this conflict will certainly come to the end in the next few weeks.
00:08:29.640 Could be sooner than that.
00:08:31.060 But the conflict will come to the end in the next few weeks.
00:08:33.880 And we'll see a rebound in supplies and a pushing down of prices after that.
00:08:38.640 Tens of thousands of employees of the Department of Homeland Security missing their first full paycheck Friday,
00:08:45.760 as the Senate remains at an impasse over financing the department.
00:08:49.200 Funding for the department lapsed February 14th, with Democrats demanding reforms to immigration enforcement
00:08:54.160 and Republicans opposing measures they believe would hinder ICE operations.
00:08:58.360 Where the impact has been immediate and obvious is at our nation's airports
00:09:02.240 and their security checkpoints manned by the Transportation Security Administration.
00:09:06.000 TSA agents are not currently being paid, resulting in 300 agents quitting,
00:09:11.760 and unscheduled absences occurring at double the rate since the shutdown began,
00:09:15.560 according to internal TSA data obtained by CBS News.
00:09:19.100 The result?
00:09:20.000 Shockingly long lines at security checkpoints.
00:09:23.040 Airports in Atlanta, Houston, New Orleans, and Chicago, among others,
00:09:26.900 advising travelers to show up at least three hours before their scheduled departure times during the partial shutdown.
00:09:32.380 TSA posting on X Saturday, quote,
00:09:34.460 Three-plus-hour TSA lines for travelers.
00:09:37.760 300-plus TSA officers who have quit.
00:09:40.580 A zero-dollar paycheck for those continuing to serve.
00:09:43.580 Enough is enough.
00:09:44.660 No more playing politics with the lives of Americans.
00:09:47.280 The Democrat shutdown of DHS must end now.
00:09:50.660 Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, appearing on Fox's Sunday Morning Futures,
00:09:54.820 accusing Democrats of holding Americans hostage.
00:09:57.200 So as you mentioned, TSA agents have missed a partial payment.
00:10:00.200 They just missed a full payment.
00:10:01.360 These are men and women who don't make a lot of money.
00:10:04.220 And so some of them are making choices to go, you know, whether they're driving Uber or, you know, waiting tables.
00:10:09.440 They have to put food on their family's table.
00:10:11.440 And in these places where this is happening, you're seeing really long lines,
00:10:14.940 whether they're one-hour, three- to four-hour lines at airports.
00:10:18.500 And I think if you stand in that line, it's one thing, Maria, if you're by yourself.
00:10:22.320 But if you're with some little kids or any kids for three or four hours, it's horrible.
00:10:27.920 And so you can thank a Democrat who cares more about making sure that the 15 million people
00:10:32.920 that they let into this country under Joe Biden,
00:10:35.360 that we don't have ICE that can actually look across the country,
00:10:39.780 find those radical elements who come into the country without, by the way,
00:10:43.180 without being vetted, find them and deport them.
00:10:46.120 This is what these Democrats want.
00:10:48.220 And so my hope is that Democrats will come to their senses, open up DHS,
00:10:53.300 and then have a negotiation, have a conversation.
00:10:55.680 But in the process, don't hold America hostage to just get what you want.
00:11:00.200 And even over on CNN, Jake Tapper pressing Senator Cory Booker, Democrat from New Jersey,
00:11:05.440 on why Democrats don't fund DHS, given all the current threats to the homeland.
00:11:09.920 In terms of the security of our home, there have been a number of attacks.
00:11:12.840 ISIS-inspired bombing attempt in New York City outside Mamdani's house,
00:11:17.340 a shooting target at an ROTC class at Old Dominion, and on and on and on.
00:11:22.680 Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security is still shut down because Senate Democrats 0.65
00:11:25.580 are blocking the funding bill over the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.
00:11:31.580 Given the security concerns he just expressed, and given the fact that, honestly,
00:11:36.680 Secretary Noem has been fired, Tom Homan took over from Greg Ravino and Noem in Minnesota,
00:11:43.240 you could argue Democrats won the debate.
00:11:46.260 Isn't it time for Democrats to reopen and refund DHS?
00:11:49.500 So first of all, Democrats have tried multiple times to try to get TSA, CISA, the Coast Guard,
00:11:56.280 funded.
00:11:57.040 Republicans have refused time and time again to fund...
00:11:59.420 Yeah, they want the whole agency funded.
00:12:00.760 They want the whole agency.
00:12:01.560 The Senate gavels back into session today.
00:12:05.600 Coming up, for the first time ever, alleged Antifa members convicted of terrorism charges
00:12:10.520 for an attack on an ICE facility in Texas.
00:12:13.740 And a recent member of Democrat Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett's security detail
00:12:17.680 killed by the Dallas Police Department's SWAT team.
00:12:20.800 Full details of this bizarre story coming up.
00:12:23.280 Think about this.
00:12:31.240 In 2006, $20,000 equaled roughly 33 ounces of gold at spot price.
00:12:37.020 At today's prices, those 33 ounces would be worth about $165,000.
00:12:42.800 That's why many smart Americans diversify a portion of their savings into precious metals.
00:12:47.340 And it's why you should consider buying gold from Birch Gold Group.
00:12:49.920 For thousands of years, gold has been a store of wealth.
00:12:53.220 And today, it's a crucial part of any balanced strategy.

00:13:17.920 Again, text MK to the number 989898 today.
00:13:23.120 On Friday in Fort Worth, Texas, a federal jury convicting nine people prosecutors describing
00:13:28.140 as part of an Antifa cell in connection with a July 4th attack on the Prairieland Ice Detention
00:13:33.500 Center last year.
00:13:35.100 The jury convicting eight of the nine defendants of providing material support to terrorists,
00:13:39.420 the first time terrorism charges have successfully been brought against alleged members of Antifa.
00:13:43.740 Antifa, which stands for anti-fascist, is a far-left militant activist network notorious
00:13:49.500 for its black-clad rioters who sow chaos in the streets.
00:13:53.180 The eight were also convicted of rioting and explosive charges.
00:13:56.700 Daniel Estrada, the ninth defendant who was not present on the night of the attack,
00:14:00.440 was convicted of concealing records and conspiracy-to-conceal documents.
00:14:03.840 Defense attorneys at trial argued the defendants weren't members of Antifa and no violence was
00:14:08.580 planned ahead of the protest.
00:14:10.560 Then-acting U.S. Attorney Nancy Larson describing what prosecutors believed happened on the night
00:14:15.040 of the attack back in July.
00:14:16.180 We're here to tell you that late at night on July 4th, Friday night at approximately 10.37 p.m.
00:14:25.440 at the Prairieland Ice Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, 10 to 12 individuals dressed in black
00:14:33.640 military-style clothing began shooting fireworks and engaging in acts of vandalism at the facility.
00:14:40.400 And this was part of an organized attack.
00:14:44.540 It was a planned ambush with the intent to kill ICE corrections officers.
00:14:50.740 Make no mistake, this was not a so-called peaceful protest.
00:14:56.060 It was indeed an ambush.
00:14:58.520 The attackers used the vandalism that I described, which seemed to be designed to draw ICE personnel
00:15:05.800 outside the facility.
00:15:08.120 And it worked.
00:15:09.000 After about 10 minutes of having convened, one or two individuals broke off from the group.
00:15:16.540 They engaged in the graffiti.
00:15:18.720 They damaged vehicles and a guard structure.
00:15:22.660 The graffiti had such words as traitor, ice pig, other profanity.
00:15:29.340 The trial lasting 12 days and jurors hearing testimony from more than 45 witnesses.
00:15:34.680 In a statement, Attorney General Pam Bondi praised the outcome of the case,
00:15:37.800 Antifa is a domestic terrorist organization that has been allowed to flourish in Democrat-led cities, not under President Trump.
00:15:45.140 Today's verdict on terrorism charges will not be the last as the Trump administration systematically dismantles Antifa and finally halts their
00:15:52.480 violence on America's streets.
00:15:53.820 Despite the verdicts, the defendants still had public supporters.
00:15:56.820 Here's a report from Fox 4 Dallas Fort Worth.
00:15:59.820 The sentencing hearing dates before U.S. Judge Mark Pittman, a Trump appointee, are still pending.
00:16:07.160 In a bizarre story out of Texas, a recent member of Democrat Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett's private security detail, killed by the Dallas police SWAT team last week.
00:16:16.500 Here's CBS News Texas reporting on his alleged double life.
00:16:31.840 To North Texas law enforcement officers and U.S. Capitol Police, he was known as Mike King, but sources tell us that's not the name of the man shot and killed by Dallas police on Wednesday night during an investigation into his alleged double life as a suspected criminal, also working as a security officer for a local U.S. Congresswoman.
00:16:54.180 These images of Mike King standing close to Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett shows how trusted he was as part of her security detail while she's been in office and while on the campaign trail during her recent run for a U.S. Senate seat.
00:17:10.100 Multiple law enforcement sources say King was the man shot and killed after a standoff with Dallas police SWAT officers on Wednesday night.
00:17:17.720 Police say he was chased into a hospital parking garage where he barricaded himself inside a vehicle before he was forced out by tear gas and pulled a gun on officers.
00:17:28.620 CBS News Texas reporting that the man was under investigation for impersonating a police officer.
00:17:33.760 Sources say he was wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer.
00:17:37.540 Sources say he claimed to be one while operating a business called Off-Duty Police Services, an online platform to connect North Texas law enforcement officers with off-duty jobs.
00:17:48.740 Authorities have yet to reveal King's real name, but sources also tell us King oversaw a team of security officers at several downtown Dallas hotels and at his own church.
00:17:59.440 Sources say King drove a replica undercover law enforcement vehicle with license plates stolen from vehicles outside military offices.
00:18:08.200 His background, which sources say includes a criminal history, raises serious questions about how he was able to oversee extra jobs for police officers as well as obtain such a high-level security position for a sitting member of Congress.
