The Michael Knowles Show - Ep. 2018 - China Steals 220M Voter Files： Trump's Primetime Speech EXPLAINED

00:00:00.000 There is a principle at work in Medicare that should bother you. The people advising you on

00:00:03.520 your plan are often incentivized to recommend what pays you the most, not what fits you the best.

00:00:07.820 Most people make this decision once and never revisit it, even though plans change every single

00:00:11.400 year. Millions are locked into coverage that no longer makes sense for them. They don't even know

00:00:15.380 it. Chapter is structured differently. They're independent, the only Medicare advisors that

00:00:19.780 compare every plan nationwide. Not a selection, every plan. They look at your doctors, your

00:00:23.960 prescriptions, your priorities, and they tell you the truth. If you're on the right plan, they will

00:00:27.240 say so. If you're not, they'll help you switch. No pressure, no sales pitch. People who have found

00:00:32.000 new plans through Chapter have saved over $1,100 a year on average. Go to dailywire.com slash

00:00:37.040 Chapter. It's free. It takes under 20 minutes. You'll walk away actually knowing whether your

00:00:41.360 plan fits your life, which is more than the system was designed to give you. No, no. Canada

00:00:46.700 is up 2-0. That is the most dangerous lead in soccer. Relax, Mike. See that, Dan? My left eye

00:00:52.140 is twitching. That's my warning eye. It'll be 2-2 by stoppage time. It's never wrong. With early

00:00:57.120 payout from bet three six five i got paid the second they went up two goals so to me it's now

00:01:01.820 the safest lead early payout from bet three six five huh now my right eye is switching dan bet

00:01:07.800 three six five must be 19 or older ontario only please play responsibly if you or someone you

00:01:12.160 know has concerns about gambling visit connects ontario.ca t's and c's apply the chinese communist

00:01:16.380 party is currently in possession of 220 million u.s voter files china currently has the ability

00:01:22.240 to file ballots in your name or to alter your current voter registration. Also, there are

00:01:29.000 well over a quarter million foreign nationals currently illegally registered to vote in federal

00:01:35.060 elections. President Trump revealed all of these troubling findings last night in a primetime speech

00:01:40.180 that the news networks conveniently decided not to air. We will get into the details and what is

00:01:46.780 to be done about it then. Vice President J.D. Vance gets in even more trouble with certain

00:01:50.680 factions of the Republican Party, this time over economics. A transgender activist runs to replace

00:01:57.180 former Democrat Senate nominee Graham Plattner in Maine. And speaking of transgenders,

00:02:03.080 I go see Christopher Nolan's Odyssey. I'm Michael Knowles. This is The Michael Knowles Show. 1.00

00:02:20.680 welcome back to the show secretary of state marco rubio gave a superb speech yesterday

00:02:31.200 calling for a crackdown on global leftist violence and what was so great about the speech

00:02:37.020 was not just the diction and the timeliness but he really got to the heart of what is wrong

00:02:43.400 with socialism communism anarchism all of these leftist ideologies he really got to the heart of

00:02:49.480 what they're about. Hint, hint, spoiler alert, it's not about economics primarily. We'll get to

00:02:54.460 that in a moment. First, though, I want to tell you about Catholic Match. Go to catholicmatch.com.

00:02:58.900 People today, they approach dating, it's almost always online now, and they approach it like

00:03:04.300 they're curating a Spotify playlist or something. It's all just got to be perfect in exactly the

00:03:09.700 right order, check every box. That's not really how dating is supposed to work. Catholic Match

00:03:14.520 encourages intentional dating, not collecting matches. Hold the line on what actually matters, 0.82

00:03:19.800 faith, character, openness to children, a shared direction in life. Give a little grace on the

00:03:25.020 non-essentials, hobbies, the perfect profile picture, height. The best spouse rarely matches 0.91

00:03:30.920 your checklist exactly. Thank God for that. God is better at being God than you are better at being

00:03:35.540 a God. That's true. Plus, if you need help, Catholic Matches support team is made up of

00:03:56.320 Some people, not everyone's called to it,

00:03:57.460 but you basically, statistically, you need to date

00:04:00.360 so that you can get married,

00:04:02.360 so that you can have lots of babies

00:04:04.020 because God tells you to do that 0.99

00:04:05.840 and also so that we can overpopulate our enemies.

00:04:09.460 Okay, catholicmatch.com.

00:04:11.980 President Trump last night, he actually delivered.

00:04:15.700 A lot of people weren't totally sure if this primetime speech was really going to deliver.

00:04:21.100 Sometimes Trump exaggerates and teases a little more than he delivers in these speeches to get the networks to cover them.

00:04:28.420 This one he delivered.

00:04:29.860 There was a ton of declassified information from the CIA, the NSA, the broader intelligence community,

00:04:35.780 showing that our election systems, which we are told are as secure as ever since 2020,

00:04:42.100 the most secure election in the history of elections. We now have not just claims from

00:04:47.340 the president, not just slogans from the Republican Party. We have declassified intelligence

00:04:53.420 from the IC, CIA, FBI, NSA, showing that our election system is extremely vulnerable

00:05:01.160 to leaks, to hacking, to manipulation by the powers that are most hostile to us around the

00:05:09.340 world, and that the intelligence community knew about this all the way back in 2020,

00:05:15.380 in some cases earlier, and that deep layers of the intelligence community knew about this.

00:05:21.880 We have the files. They've been declassified. The White House released them. You can go to

00:05:24.960 whitehouse.gov to see them. It's right when you go to whitehouse.gov today, it says,

00:05:28.260 do you want to see the declassified files? Deep layers of CIA, NSA, deep layers of the IC

00:05:33.740 kept that information, not only from the president of the United States in his daily briefings,

00:05:40.200 but kept that information even from the heads of the agencies.

00:05:44.780 So you even have CIA directors who don't hear this stuff. And you have admissions from guys

00:05:50.380 in the IC in their emails, in their memoranda saying, yeah, we're running the government here.

00:05:57.040 We've got to keep this from people that are too high up.

00:05:59.380 So this was really tremendous.

00:06:00.560 Here's President Trump just laying out the problem.

00:06:03.360 Tonight, I'm announcing the immediate declassification and release of critical intelligence, revealing shocking vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure.

00:06:14.080 This evidence shows that the election system we have dangerously exposes and

00:06:20.680 really exposes like levels never thought possible to hacking, exploitation and

00:06:28.180 foreign interference. Just as disturbingly this vital information has

00:06:34.140 for many years been covered up and hidden from you, the documents cover five

00:06:39.420 major areas of concern. First, they show that over a period of years, starting during the 2020

00:06:46.980 election cycle, the People's Republic of China carried out what is believed to be the largest

00:06:53.380 compromise of election data in history, resulting in China's illicit acquisition of 220 million US

00:07:03.660 voter files okay i want to just cover there's so much in these files i encourage you to read them

00:07:10.000 we'll cover a little bit of what's in them right now but i want to head off right at the top a line

00:07:16.320 that you're going to hear from the left and it's in response to this question what is this speech

00:07:20.980 about why is trump giving this speech right now we are heading into midterm elections looking ahead

00:07:27.240 to the 2020 presidential election but we're not quite an election season yet we're in mid-july

00:07:33.360 Why is Trump giving this speech now? And what the left is going to say is Trump is trying to

00:07:38.040 relitigate the 2020 election, and he is trying to validate his conspiracy theories, which,

00:07:44.060 you know, seemed, I mean, we got the CIA memoranda now, but anyway, they're going to say he's looking

00:07:48.100 backward. He's going to claim that certain winners of 2020, be it at the presidential level or the

00:07:53.560 Senate level are illegitimate. That was one of the leaks about the speech. Some of the reporting said

00:07:57.840 he's going to claim that the Democrat Georgia senators are illegitimate because of election

00:08:02.220 interviews. Notice, none of that happened. None of that happened. Trump did not really get into

00:08:09.900 his gripes about the 2020 election in the speech. He didn't claim any sitting senators are

00:08:15.140 illegitimate. He didn't do any of that. That is not what the speech is about. That speech last

00:08:21.320 night was about one thing and one thing only, getting Republican senators to pass the Save

00:08:28.340 America Act. That's what it was about. Right now you have this bill, which is an 80-20 issue,

00:08:36.180 not even, it's like an 85-15 issue. Everybody supports voter ID and voter integrity.

00:08:42.480 You have Democrats trying to stop it because they rely on weakening our election integrity in order

00:08:47.100 to win elections. Because they want to flood the country with foreign nationals. They want them to 0.89

00:08:51.220 vote illegally. They want insecure elections. They know that our adversaries hate Trump,

00:08:55.700 so they know it will benefit them.

00:08:57.800 That's what they're after. 0.89

00:08:59.560 But you have these squish Republicans 0.85

00:09:00.880 and the squish Republicans say, 0.94

00:09:02.140 you know, actually,

00:09:02.980 our election system is pretty secure.

00:09:05.180 Trump went a little far

00:09:06.180 with his claims in 2020 1.00

00:09:07.600 and it's really fine.

00:09:09.060 You know, fraudulent voting,

00:09:10.520 it's not that big an issue.

00:09:11.580 There aren't that many

00:09:12.620 ineligible voters

00:09:13.980 who are registered to vote. 0.98

00:09:15.820 There are, our foreign powers

00:09:17.440 don't have access

00:09:18.220 to hacking the voting machines.

00:09:19.560 They don't, don't, don't, don't, don't.

00:09:22.080 And what Trump proved last night is

00:09:25.720 Yes, they do.

00:09:27.300 There are a lot of foreign nationals

00:09:29.280 registered to vote in federal elections.

00:09:30.820 Every single one of those is illegal. 1.00

00:09:33.040 Hostile foreign powers, including China,

00:09:34.860 including Russia, including Iran, 0.98

00:09:36.160 including North Korea, including Venezuela,

00:09:38.020 a key part of the 2020 discussion,

00:09:42.780 those guys do have the ability

00:09:44.520 to hack into the American system.

00:09:46.640 In the case of Venezuela,

00:09:47.380 they could hack into actual voting machines

00:09:49.640 that were using protocols

00:09:52.060 very similar to the U.S. protocols.

00:09:54.420 So he was saying, yes, guys, forget about 2020.

00:09:57.740 I'm not relitigating that.

00:09:58.940 I'm the president.

00:09:59.640 All's well that ends well.

00:10:00.780 But our election system is extremely vulnerable.

00:10:03.600 And in a democracy, in a republic such as ours, in a self-government by the people for the people,

00:10:09.340 if you don't have confidence in your elections, you don't have a government.

00:10:13.480 You don't have a country.

00:10:14.820 So you need to pass the Save America Act.

00:10:17.160 Will they listen?

00:10:18.040 Well, let's see.

00:10:19.440 The highlights from the files.

00:10:21.840 Detections began in the spring of 2020 that 220 million voter files had been breached by China.

00:10:26.860 This was the largest data breach in U.S. history.

00:10:30.120 By August of 2020, 18 states had voter databases breached by China.

00:10:34.540 Intelligence did not brief the President of the United States, the Congress, or the states.

00:10:39.560 By 2023, the number of files that had been breached grew from the initial smaller number of 17 million to 220 million.

00:10:46.420 CIA and NSA analysts agreed that the decision not to tell Donald Trump, the president of the United States, was a politically motivated decision by deep state bureaucrats, by careerists at places like CIA and NSA.

00:11:03.700 It was a political decision motivated by their partisan hatred of Trump.

00:11:08.760 This, according to analysts at CIA and NSA.

00:11:12.320 the NSA intercepted information that China was looking to you know meddle in all sorts of ways

00:11:20.660 increase racial strife get some get some dirt on Trump none of that is surprising yet all of

00:11:25.720 these intel reports basically none of them very few of them made it into a presidential daily

00:11:29.860 briefing uh as I mentioned uh you had real issues in Venezuela now Venezuela was hacking its own

00:11:36.380 elections but the the machines in Venezuela were very similar to machines that were used in in the

00:11:41.200 US. All of this kept from the president. In the fall of 2020, Trump mentions this in his speech,

00:11:48.640 the FBI heard from Michigan state police that they had found industrial scale election cheating

00:11:55.780 in Michigan, fake IDs in voting coming from Democrat operatives. The FBI estimated through

00:12:02.600 one sample, roughly 30% of the ballots were fraudulent. You're talking massive industrial

00:12:08.780 scale, coming from Michigan, which is a Democrat state. In one box, 91 out of 107 votes were

00:12:14.640 fraudulent. We're talking massive, massive scale fraud. As Trump pointed out in the speech last

00:12:20.000 night, Biden was president at that point. The DOJ slow walked the case and no one was held

00:12:23.760 accountable because it benefited Democrats. We're talking the kind of election manipulation and

00:12:30.060 rigging that would put Tammany Hall to shame. Okay, we're talking, because at least in Tammany

00:12:38.020 hall you're only looking at one city one state here you're talking about just massive multiple

00:12:43.160 states widespread fraud involving foreign nationals so uh the doj starts looking into

00:12:53.440 some of the election problems and recognizes that there are some people on the on the voter

00:12:58.000 rolls who should not be on the voter rolls in 12 states that were cooperate cooperating more red

00:13:03.320 than blue. They found 22,000 non-citizens on the voter rolls. Then four states that DHS analyzed

00:13:09.200 by buying public data found quarter million foreigners who shouldn't be on the federal

00:13:12.940 rolls on the federal rolls. On and on and on. There's so much more to get into. There's not

00:13:21.100 enough time. What this is about is the Save America Act. And the question to the Republican

00:13:25.660 senators who are concerned about standards and norms and who want to hold up the filibuster and 0.94

00:13:30.200 whatever. Just ask yourself, when it comes to standards and norms, is there any standard and

00:13:35.680 norm that is more important to maintain than the integrity of our elections? When you have

00:13:40.760 massive evidence, not just coming from Trump, who some people don't trust, but coming from

00:13:44.800 CIA, the NSA, the FBI, the vaunted intelligence community, for years and years and years,

00:13:51.500 six, eight years in some cases, showing vulnerabilities in our election system

00:13:56.220 exploited by our chief geopolitical adversaries? Is there any standard and norm more important to

00:14:01.240 maintain than the integrity of our elections? I can't really think of one, which is why

00:14:06.360 I like the filibuster too. I would like to maintain the filibuster, but they must pass

00:14:11.600 the Save America Act. It has to happen. Okay. Now, as I mentioned, you probably didn't hear

00:14:17.620 this if you were watching the TV news networks last night because they decided not to broadcast

00:14:22.800 a speech. So now President Trump says they should pull the broadcast licenses. The left once again

00:14:28.180 calling him a fascist and authoritarian. We'll get to what that means in a second. Then we'll

00:14:31.760 get to Rubio's excellent speech on leftist violence. J.D. Vance's apparently controversial

00:14:38.000 comments, not this time on Israel, but this time on economics. Once again, I think conservatives

00:14:43.100 have wax in their ears or they're just, I don't know, ignorant of the conservative tradition. 0.96

00:14:47.220 We'll get into all of that first, though. I want to tell you about balance of nature.

00:16:07.580 President Trump does not like that the news networks did not cover his bombshell speech last night.

00:16:12.460 So he's contemplating pulling their broadcast licenses.

00:16:17.520 In a rare move, NBC and ABC fake news have both said that they would not cover this speech.

00:16:24.320 They knew what it was about because of the fact that they don't like the topic because they know

00:16:29.560 how corrupt our system is and they don't want to reveal it. They and others in the media are part

00:16:35.040 of a plot. They want to continue this fraud for whatever reason. They want to keep it going.

00:16:40.440 they want to protect the radical left they can't have a great country and that's true you can't

00:16:47.440 have a great country without free and fair elections fraud like this should mean a revocation

00:16:53.800 of their licenses they use our public multi-billion dollar in value airways for absolutely no money

00:17:01.500 they pay nothing okay so cue the left and the squishy loser right cue them right now saying

00:17:09.780 this is authoritarian. He's gone too far. We can't revoke the sacred federal broadcast licenses 0.96

00:17:18.360 of NBC and ABC. Our founding fathers bled in the revolution. They suffered at Valley Forge

00:17:26.660 so that NBC and ABC can peddle fake news on public airwaves. I don't think that's true.

00:17:33.560 The question is, is there a legal justification to revoke their broadcast licenses? There are

00:17:38.980 certain criteria, according to which, there's a rubric according to which the government can

00:17:44.080 revoke the broadcast licenses for these networks that are on public airwaves. They're not going to

00:17:49.120 revoke my broadcast license for the Michael Knowles show. I'm not on public airwaves.

00:17:53.420 We pay our own way over here, and you pay our own way. Thank you very much to the viewers and

00:17:58.160 the listeners. Not so when it comes to the public airwaves, not so when it comes to broadcast.

00:18:03.440 NBC, ABC, they have no right to those licenses.

00:18:08.460 Licensees, these public broadcast networks,

00:18:12.200 must operate as public trustees of the spectrum,

00:18:15.760 serving their local community's needs.

00:18:18.160 So public affairs programming, covering the news,

00:18:20.420 and failure can lead to non-renewal of their licenses.

00:18:25.800 So in this case, would you say that a national address

00:18:30.340 by the President of the United States

00:18:32.380 on a crucial matter, such as the integrity of our elections,

00:18:39.340 would you say that's a matter of public interest? Would you say that covering that sort of news

00:18:45.780 would be servicing community needs? Would you say that is part of the deal when a news network

00:18:53.960 signs up to get a public broadcast license? Would you say that covering that kind of thing,

00:18:59.060 the president covering a crucial issue, getting to the very heart of our politics,

00:19:04.580 a national address. Would you say that's part of the deal when you sign up to get a broadcast

00:19:08.040 license? Because I would. I would say that. And the fact that Trump is now threatening to revoke

00:19:14.160 their licenses, I think is a good thing. And I think these guys need to be brought in line.

00:19:17.800 In other words, let me be perfectly clear, lest the left and the squishy loser right get confused

00:19:23.800 about this. The threat to our freedom and our way of life and our great national traditions and our

00:19:30.800 standards and norms and our country, the greater threat to all of those things lies in the perfidy

00:19:38.420 and corruption of the media, more so than it does in the duly elected, popularly elected

00:19:47.120 president of the United States wielding the power that is afforded to him.

00:19:54.120 The greater threat to our freedom and our way of life and our standards and our norms,

00:19:58.360 even though I know Trump's an eccentric character, the greater threat lies in the

00:20:02.680 absolute corruption of our establishment media, especially the broadcast networks,

00:20:08.820 far more so than it does in the duly elected president exercising power that he has.

00:20:13.360 No question about it. The left wants to pretend otherwise.

00:20:16.440 They want to pretend that they're speaking truth to power in an authoritarian regime,

00:20:21.600 this, that, and the other.

00:20:22.080 It's not true.

00:20:23.540 If anything, the opposite is true.

00:20:25.560 The establishment media are part of not an authoritarian, but rather a totalitarian system

00:20:30.740 of liberalism that seeks to dominate and dictate every aspect of your life, not merely those

00:20:36.640 circumscribed and narrow aspects in authoritarian regimes.

00:20:40.060 Trump himself is not an authoritarian.

00:20:41.700 Some of us wish he were a little bit more authoritarian.

00:20:43.760 and what he's threatening here is totally just.

00:20:46.800 Okay, it's probably not going to happen.

00:20:48.520 You know, there would be a lot of hurdles to it,

00:20:50.020 but he's absolutely right to make the threat.

00:20:52.720 Speaking of threats,

00:20:54.160 we now turn to threats from the left

00:20:55.780 and the international left.

00:20:56.980 Secretary of State Marco Rubio

00:20:58.040 calling for a crackdown on global leftist violence.

00:21:02.900 More than 80% of radical violence

00:21:05.080 is now driven by far left and anarchist actors.

00:21:08.640 These are not abstract statistics.

00:21:12.200 Americans have seen what those numbers mean.

00:21:14.820 An all-out assault on our immigration officers,

00:21:17.360 sniper attacks, explosives, armed ambushes,

00:21:21.100 a transgender shooter opening fire on Catholic elementary school students 0.67

00:21:25.080 as they pray, his gun marked with slogans like, 0.96

00:21:28.960 Where is your God now?

00:21:31.740 A health care executive executed in cold blood in the streets.

00:21:38.420 Multiple assassination attempts on a sitting president.

00:21:41.380 and the murder of the greatest conservative activist of a generation.

00:21:44.760 This is what radical leftism is.

00:21:47.440 It may wear various different slogans and ideologies across place and time.

00:21:51.820 They can call themselves anti-capitalist, or anti-imperialist, or communist, or anarchist, or Marxist.

00:21:58.480 But the fundamental character is always the same.

00:22:01.500 It's always the same.

00:22:02.400 It is a poisonous resentment, cloaked in the language of equality, and justice, and liberation.

00:22:08.720 an overwhelming need to tear down what greater men have built to wreck what is beautiful and

00:22:15.240 what is right on behalf of people who are only filled with ugliness and have nothing else to

00:22:20.580 offer the world spot on man absolutely precise from secretary of state marco rubio what i love

00:22:31.220 so much about this speech is not just you know the the recognition of left-wing violence calling

00:22:36.160 them out internationally as well as domestically. But the fact that he recognizes what it's all

00:22:41.500 about, a lot of people think socialism is about giving money to poor people. A lot of people

00:22:46.480 think communism is about an egalitarian system. A lot of people think that anarchism is about

00:22:55.160 freedom or something. No. All of those radical leftist ideologies are about the same thing.

00:23:02.240 They're about resentment, envy, and destruction.

00:23:05.980 That's what they're about.

00:23:06.960 And I'm not even only speaking polemically here.

00:23:10.340 That's what Karl Marx says they're about.

00:23:12.940 What does Karl Marx say?

00:23:16.600 Karl Marx, I think, in the greatest summation of his ideology,

00:23:21.320 says everything that exists deserves to perish.

00:23:25.480 that to me is the line from marx that sums up marx's view of politics better than anything

00:23:33.380 else everything that exists deserves to perish it is pure destruction it is a zero-sum game it is

00:23:43.240 negative it seeks to destroy intrinsically that's what the left is about that's why they're more

00:23:49.400 violent. That's why they're angrier all the time. That's why they damage their own bodies. That's

00:23:56.680 why they damage communities. That's why they damage statues and paintings. And because the

00:24:02.180 ideology itself is destructive and violent. And there are some aspects to it that talk about

00:24:10.760 economics. There's some aspects to it that talk about immigration or whatever, but it's not what

00:24:15.400 it's about. The heart of it is violence. That is totally right from Rubio. And it is why we should

00:24:22.560 not look at the now totally undeniable spike in left-wing political violence, even admitted by

00:24:28.840 the left, even admitted by the Atlantic magazine, even using data sets that don't count most

00:24:33.280 left-wing violence, like the BLM violence, like Antifa showing up to college campuses,

00:24:38.020 like trainees shooting up churches and schools. Even when you don't count that stuff, even today,

00:24:42.380 even the leftist magazines have to admit that political violence is chiefly a left-wing

00:24:46.260 problem. It's why we can't look at that as an unfortunate turn of leftism, of revolutionary

00:24:53.580 leftism. It's an unfortunate turn of revolutionary leftism that it's become violent. No, no, no. It

00:24:57.560 just is violence. It just is violence. The most extreme conservative smokes a lot of cigars and

00:25:08.040 really super hard, reads a lot of old dusty books. That's like the extreme of conservatism.

00:25:13.980 The extreme of conservatism is getting like a really nice leather Chesterfield sofa and

00:25:19.700 listening to Bach and smoking cigars and drinking good scotch. That's like, if you just let the

00:25:26.000 conservative id run wild, it would be like a guy wearing a lot of tweed or I don't know,

00:25:34.300 sitting in his nice home with his beautiful wife in her nice dress with their kids eating an apple

00:25:41.780 pie. That's like fantasy run amok. Whereas the extreme of leftism is lopping off heads and

00:25:49.680 emptying the Bastille and toppling statues and bringing down countries. Rubio, totally, totally

00:25:57.340 right. Can't believe I just confessed all my fantasies on air. All the tweed, all the port.

00:26:02.860 Okay. Before we get into another top member of the Trump administration and another presidential

00:26:08.740 contender, really the heir apparent, J.D. Vance, he's in trouble again. He got in trouble yesterday.

00:26:14.800 They called him anti-Israel because he compared Israel to, he said, Israel should be like our

00:26:20.360 other allies. It's not the only ally. It's not in the special category. We should consider them

00:26:25.940 like our other allies, England and France, who are literally our two greatest allies we've ever

00:26:29.620 had. And for that, he was called anti-Israel. Now he's in trouble for talking about economics.

00:26:35.460 They're calling him a communist or something. Let's see what he actually says about economics.

00:26:38.320 First, though, before we get into that, I want to tell you about Mack Weldon.

00:26:42.300 Right now, go to MackWeldon.com, code Michael, M-A-C-K-W-E-L-D-O-N.com, code Michael.

00:26:48.760 I love Mack Weldon, okay? I went on vacation last week. I took my week-long vacation for the year.

00:26:57.220 I was at the beach, and I wore Mack Weldon every day. Not only did I wear, this is a little TMI,

00:27:04.920 I wore the boxer shirts, which are phenomenal, but my favorite, one of my very favorite pieces

00:27:09.720 of clothing that I own right now is the Mack Weldon terrycloth shirt. It is absolutely perfect

00:27:16.420 for summer. It's like you're wearing a towel, but it looks really nice and cool, and it's just

00:27:20.680 terrific. I mean, their fabrics are all great. You get great airflow, four-way stretch. It's just,

00:27:25.620 it looks good. I was wearing my Mack Weldon bathing suit. These guys just get it, man.

00:27:30.420 They're so, so good. So right now, do not sweat the heat this summer. Feel as effortlessly cool

00:27:36.840 as you look with Mack Weldon. Go to MackWeldon.com. Get 20% off your first order of $125 or more

00:27:43.500 with promo code Michael, M-I-C-H-A-E-L. That is M-A-C-K-W-E-L-D-O-N.com, code Michael.

00:27:52.940 J.D. Vance just can't stay out of trouble with certain, a little bit more establishment,

00:27:59.620 a little bit more neoconservative factions of the American right.

00:28:02.820 He's in big trouble right now, not just for his views on foreign policy, but for his views

00:28:08.380 on economics.

00:28:09.860 Here's what he had to say on Rogan.

00:28:12.080 Some other guy owns 35 mansions, right?

00:28:14.780 That to me is the fundamental challenge of AI, is it's going to unleash a lot of wealth

00:28:20.520 creation.

00:28:21.540 But if that wealth creation all goes to some segment of people, you're going to have communism.

00:28:26.140 Like that is the choice before us is a lot of wealth being created.

00:28:30.080 That's good, by the way.

00:28:30.880 I like wealth being created.

00:28:32.780 But if you don't ensure that there's some broader prosperity from that wealth creation, like we have run this experiment before and it leads to communism.

00:28:41.980 Right.

00:28:42.100 So –

00:28:43.340 Okay.

00:28:44.100 So J.D. Vance, I can't get over.

00:28:46.380 I hope the attacks coming from certain parts of the right on J.D. Vance are disingenuous

00:28:51.660 because I think that I hope it's not just ignorant or idiotic or I hope they're disingenuous in a 0.99

00:29:01.460 way I think that's the more charitable read but J.D. Vance comes out he goes I really don't want 0.99

00:29:06.840 communism to rise up in America I really don't want leftist economics to rise up in America

00:29:10.820 and so we need to make sure as we go through the midst of a radical new industrial revolution

00:29:15.760 that is certainly going to bring huge changes to the labor market and massive wealth inequality,

00:29:22.140 we need to make sure that everyone's brought along for the ride. People have buy-in to the

00:29:26.480 market economy so that you don't get communism. And people pointed him, they say, you're a

00:29:32.100 communist. Do you got cotton in your ears? What are you talking about? This is leftism.

00:29:39.640 What on earth? He hates wealth. He just said he loves wealth creation. He worked in Silicon

00:29:45.680 Valley. What are you people? Oh my goodness gracious. The point that he's making here is

00:29:51.520 really, really important, which is you want economic growth. The left sometimes doesn't

00:29:57.900 want economic growth. The left, you want economic growth. You want new wealth creation. The left

00:30:03.940 wants appropriation of wealth. The left wants redistribution of wealth. But they're not really

00:30:08.100 focused on new wealth creation. No, he says, we want all that. We want all that stuff.

00:30:12.520 But we just need to make sure that people are bought in.

00:30:15.620 One, because the palace is never safe when the cottage is unhappy.

00:30:19.820 Two, because in a self-governing republic, you need people to have buy-in to the society.

00:30:27.060 A nation is not just an economic zone.

00:30:29.920 It's not just a grocery store that we all happen to go to, but we have no other connection to one another.

00:30:34.600 It is a communal project.

00:30:36.920 It is a community, ultimately.

00:30:38.780 That's where politics comes from.

00:30:39.980 comes from the polis, which is the city-state. And so we all need to have some investment in

00:30:45.060 the future of that community, of that entity. And there are all sorts of different ways to do that.

00:30:50.300 We can have a buy-in through military service. We can have a buy-in by all being invested in our

00:30:54.540 401ks, the stock market. We can have buy-in. There are a million ways that we can have buy-in

00:30:59.380 by intermarrying and having common language and common religion. But we need to have some buy-in

00:31:04.620 in the future. And if a massive technological change of a new industrial revolution leaves

00:31:10.360 90% of the people behind, that's a political problem. The consequence of which is going to

00:31:16.380 be communism. So if you want to avoid that, you need to adapt eternal principles to changing

00:31:21.860 circumstances, which is one of the most basic definitions of politics. So is this leftism?

00:31:28.000 Is this only, I mean, the last time this happened, the last time we had a massive industrial and

00:31:32.820 labor change. It was actually Republican presidents who addressed this in many of the same ways that

00:31:40.040 J.D. Vance is talking about. Teddy Roosevelt, who is one of the presidents most frequently

00:31:45.500 compared to Donald Trump. He dealt with that. He dealt with that with the square deal and

00:31:50.780 both Roosevelt and Taft focused on antitrust protections, on different labor protections,

00:31:57.480 because the economic system had changed

00:32:00.680 after the Industrial Revolution.

00:32:02.320 But this goes back earlier than that.

00:32:04.040 I mean, you think about Abraham Lincoln.

00:32:06.620 Abraham Lincoln, when the slaves are freed,

00:32:10.700 he offers them an intervention.

00:32:12.900 He offers them 40 acres and a mule.

00:32:14.420 They never got their 40 acres and a mule,

00:32:16.120 but he's offering a kind of intervention.

00:32:17.720 Is Lincoln a communist?

00:32:18.640 Is Taft a communist?

00:32:21.700 Is Teddy Roosevelt a communist?

00:32:23.020 Give me a break.

00:32:23.680 this is not a uniquely progressive i mean teddy roosevelt was a kind of progressive a little

00:32:29.900 different than some of the leftist progressives but plenty of other people taft less so than

00:32:35.480 teddy roosevelt abraham lincoln other even more modern presidents have had all sorts of

00:32:41.060 economic interventions george w bush was he uh was he a proger george hw bush i don't know give

00:32:47.060 me a break guys it's this is not merely progressive intervention the other knock on

00:32:52.140 Vance, you're seeing a lot of anti-Catholicism rising up, a lot of sharpening anti-Catholic

00:32:57.800 rhetoric, which Arthur Schlesinger says is the deepest bias in the history of the American

00:33:02.060 people.

00:33:02.440 But what some people are saying is, this is just Vance embracing a kind of Catholic economic

00:33:10.380 view, which is quasi-communism. 0.82

00:33:12.740 a ridiculous a ridiculous argument to make when uh that in recent years that that modern catholic

00:33:22.080 economic view has been most prominently promoted by john paul ii one of the two men who took down 0.93

00:33:28.440 communism ronald reagan and john paul ii and a little hat tip to maggie thatcher those are the

00:33:34.300 people who destroyed communism popes have have invade against communism and socialism said not

00:33:41.320 even a moderate form of socialism can ever be Christian. It's totally anathema. You cannot 0.68

00:33:46.900 claim that that Catholic economic view is socialism or communism. John Paul II, the great

00:33:54.020 anti-communist hero, writes in Centesi Musanus, which is written on the 100th anniversary of Pope

00:34:00.720 Leo XIII's encyclical, Rerum Novarum, a brilliant document, which is the beginning of Catholic

00:34:05.640 social teaching. John Paul II writes in Shantesi Musanus that the free market is the most efficient

00:34:11.780 way to allocate goods around an economy, but we need to make sure that we're focusing on resources

00:34:16.920 that are solvent and marketable, that we need to recognize that we have to circumscribe certain

00:34:25.500 aspects of the market because human beings have dignity. There is nothing uniquely Catholic about

00:34:31.600 that. There is nothing sectarian. There's nothing communist or socialist or anything like that.

00:34:36.240 That is just common sense. And I don't know. There's going to be a Republican primary, I guess.

00:34:44.600 I think Trump is just going to pick the nominee, ultimately, barring some total collapse of his

00:34:49.100 administration. But it's fine. I mean, people have their horses. Some people really want Rubio to run

00:34:53.560 against Vance, even though Rubio's already endorsed Vance. Some people want people who are outside of

00:34:57.540 the administration, like Ron DeSantis, maybe. I don't know. There's no real evidence Ron DeSantis

00:35:01.020 is going to run whatever it's fine i mean the gop loves fighting each other so you can all duke it

00:35:05.380 out in the primary but i don't know if you're going to make these kind of criticisms advance

00:35:09.220 at least make honest ones kind of kind of silly okay uh speaking of common sense there's a new

00:35:14.560 candidate in maine a new democrat to replace graham plattner who had to drop out because he's a 0.97

00:35:20.340 nazi rapist allegedly uh and so the new candidate we have is ashley ashley webb 0.72

00:35:28.060 and then with with the trans community like we're being dehumanized they say that we want to hurt 0.93

00:35:34.760 people i don't want to hurt anybody i just want to use the bathroom and it and if they want me

00:35:40.140 to use the men's room i will but i don't want to be assaulted i endorse ashley webb i endorse i am

00:35:46.140 now giving my full and complete unequivocal endorsement of ashley webb i don't know ashley's

00:35:52.600 real name. And for the purposes of this endorsement, I don't care. Ashley, it is time.

00:35:59.220 Enough transphobia from the Democrat Party. Ashley Webb must be the Democrat nominee

00:36:05.180 for Senate in Maine. The Democrats must campaign on the civil rights issue of our time,

00:36:12.460 letting trans women use the women's bathroom. Of course, they can't abandon that civil rights issue. 0.97

00:36:22.000 And Ashley Webb needs to be the standard bearer 1.00

00:36:24.240 to take on Susan Collins in the midterm elections.

00:36:27.580 Please, Democrats, don't.

00:36:30.840 Come on, the arc of the moral universe is long,

00:36:33.600 but it bends toward justice.

00:36:35.340 Don't be on the wrong side of history.

00:36:37.720 We got webmentum, baby.

00:36:41.100 Where do I donate to Ashley Webb?

00:36:42.920 Okay, speaking of transgenderism, 1.00

00:36:44.280 I saw the odyssey yesterday. 1.00

00:36:45.840 I saw Christopher Nolan's odyssey.

00:36:48.360 So, you know, this is one of those great,

00:36:50.420 and I said, oh, it's work.

00:36:51.260 I got to go for work as I'm leaving the office at 1.30 in the afternoon.

00:36:54.720 And I go, I go check it out.

00:36:56.840 I had some trepidation, actually.

00:36:59.960 I will give a much fuller review.

00:37:01.920 Look out for it on maybe on the RSS, definitely on the YouTube channel, elsewhere.

00:37:06.280 I'll give a fuller review.

00:37:07.440 I don't have time to get into all of it now.

00:37:09.300 My main takeaway from Nolan's Odyssey.

00:37:12.100 I love the Odyssey.

00:37:13.460 I've, you know, read that poem for decades now.

00:37:18.340 Everyone is afraid of the woke stuff, the DEI.

00:37:20.360 They've got Lupita Nyong'o, who is a very good actress, but they're saying that Helen of Troy

00:37:24.940 is black. They're saying Lupita Nyong'o is the single most beautiful woman in the world.

00:37:30.440 We've got Ellen Page playing a guy. We were initially told she was playing Achilles. Then

00:37:36.080 we're told she's playing this character Sinon, who is not even in the Odyssey. It was actually

00:37:40.620 from the Aeneid. So it's a later epic written in a different place in a different language.

00:37:44.700 but we were and weirdly she kind of is playing achilles and uh just given how that character 0.99

00:37:51.260 subs in and uh so i there's all this woke stuff there's there is an underlying theme of feminism

00:37:57.620 and my main takeaway is i hate how talented christopher nolan is it's i'm not joking it's

00:38:07.340 insidious how talented christopher nolan is because his skill and talent allow him to get

00:38:13.900 away with a lot of nonsense. So we'll get into how he changed the Odyssey in ways that, you know,

00:38:19.260 I haven't even seen other people talking about that are really, it makes me really rethink

00:38:26.980 Christopher Nolan's worldview. I thought he was a kind of center-right conservative Republican

00:38:31.220 after Dark Knight. And I don't know, he's making, it's a, in many ways, a really beautiful movie

00:38:39.440 that is dangerous because of that.

00:38:42.960 Okay, it's very deceptive and tricky,

00:38:45.260 kind of like Odysseus.

00:38:46.240 Maybe that's the underlying theme.

00:38:48.080 Okay, we got to get into the mailbag first though.

00:38:51.020 My favorite coming yesterday is from May, 0.96

00:38:52.300 who says, Michael, you don't think women 1.00

00:38:53.500 should wear yoga pants,

00:38:54.640 but you're okay with cameras focusing

00:38:56.040 on their private areas?

00:38:57.060 Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, don't accuse me of that.

00:38:59.000 He says, modesty is a good thing

00:39:00.080 and we should support it, especially as Christians.

00:39:01.740 So yes, I'm glad they're trying to focus

00:39:03.240 on women's athletic abilities 1.00

00:39:04.340 rather than making them objects.

00:39:05.600 No, you misunderstand my point.

00:39:07.080 I'm not saying they need to zoom in 0.87

00:39:08.120 on women's breasts or something.

00:39:10.000 The European Athletic Associations came out and said, we need to stop focusing on women's bodies 0.90

00:39:16.500 when we cover their sports. And you rightly point out, I don't think that women should wear 1.00

00:39:22.420 athletic wear in public. Yoga pants and gym clothing, the real tight stuff. I don't think 1.00

00:39:28.520 women should wear athletic wear in public because I don't think that's appropriate 1.00

00:39:32.020 to wear in public. It is appropriate to wear in athletics. The thing that makes the athletic 1.00

00:39:41.440 wear inappropriate in public is that it focuses on women's bodies. It's too revealing. It's 1.00

00:39:49.160 immodest. But that's what athletics is. Athletics is about the body. So my point on the silly

00:39:58.220 European Athletic Association standards is, it's not just that they're not letting us, 0.96

00:40:04.900 you know, look at those hot chickies anymore. It's that their guidelines make no sense.

00:40:11.340 They're drawing a distinction. They say, we need to focus more on women's athletics and 0.78

00:40:14.580 less on women's bodies. They're the same thing. Athletics is about physical excellence. 1.00

00:40:21.060 Now, I don't watch women's sports. So I get, you know, and as I, all women's sports has some 1.00

00:40:25.940 aspect of sexiness to it other than the WNBA. But all the other, and no one watches the WNBA,

00:40:32.000 but all of, you cannot separate. I guess this is, at the deeper level, there is this real

00:40:37.780 Gnostic impulse in modern life, which tries to downplay the importance of the body, but you can't,

00:40:43.960 if you are watching women's athletics, you are looking at their bodies and their bodies

00:40:49.360 are good looking. You can't, they're different from men's bodies. Men's bodies are not, 1.00

00:40:54.580 Men's bodies can be beautiful in their own way too, 1.00

00:40:57.420 but totally differently than women. 1.00

00:40:59.500 So you can't, it's like when the feminists say, 1.00

00:41:04.620 stop looking upon a woman's body with sexual attraction. 1.00

00:41:09.400 Stop objectifying me.

00:41:10.620 So you're not, it's not that you're an object, 1.00

00:41:12.360 but I'm going to look at you like you're a woman. 0.98

00:41:15.040 And you can't cease to be, it's like trans. 1.00

00:41:17.780 They want to be men, but they're not men. 1.00

00:41:20.460 Women's sports is different from men's sports. 1.00

00:41:22.320 Maybe it means we should ditch a lot of women's sports. 1.00

00:41:24.080 I don't know. 0.99

00:41:30.200 Take it away.

00:41:31.440 Hi, Michael.

00:41:32.080 This is Megan coming to you with another dating question.

00:41:34.720 I've been attending singles activities

00:41:36.360 through my church for a couple of years now.

00:41:38.840 There's a guy I met the first time I attended

00:41:40.520 who was dismissive to the point of being rude

00:41:42.620 as he was clearly interested in another woman

00:41:44.740 who ultimately rejected him.

00:41:46.700 At the time, I was at my heaviest weight

00:41:48.380 with a BMI over 40,

00:41:49.600 which is considered morbidly obese.

00:41:51.180 however it was one instance and overall he's a really kind and stable guy

00:41:55.400 i've since lost a third of my body weight and i'm barely considered overweight at this point

00:42:00.320 i also don't think i'd ever be comfortable dating someone who found me attractive when i was at my

00:42:04.760 heaviest this has been a significant lifestyle change and i have no intention of gaining the

00:42:08.860 weight back he recently has reached out to ask me on a date should i look past the bad first

00:42:14.260 impression and give the guy a chance or are first impressions important and indicative of who a

00:42:18.860 person really is. Thanks always, Megan. Good question. And congrats on losing all that weight.

00:42:24.520 That's really impressive. Oh my goodness. I don't really know what the BMI is. I can't picture what

00:42:30.180 that is, a BMI of 40. But if you're saying that's morbidly obese, if you were really,

00:42:34.060 really overweight, you lost a third of your body weight. That's very, very impressive. So congrats

00:42:37.520 on that. And yeah, I would date him. I'd give him a shot at least. I don't know. Maybe he's a jerk,

00:42:41.940 but I would, I would date him because you say, you say, I don't, I have transformed in part so 1.00

00:42:48.460 that I can, you know, meet a guy. I assume that's part of it. And I wouldn't want to date a guy who

00:42:54.040 was specifically attracted to someone who's really, really fat in part, because I don't

00:43:00.780 ever intend to get really, really fat again. And so I guess there, there is only one further

00:43:05.540 question I would have on this, which is when you say he was dismissive to you to the point of being

00:43:09.180 rude was it like you come up to him hey hey hey buddy how you doing and he says oh hey yeah sorry

00:43:15.320 i'm i'm more i'm more interested in that chick sorry not interested was it that or was it like

00:43:20.560 hey porky put down the pork rinds or whatever you know if he was doing that don't date him he sounds 0.97

00:43:24.880 like a huge jerk but if he was just if he really was just interested in some other woman he's like 0.98

00:43:30.580 hey sorry yeah i'm not you're not doing it for me sorry you know it was that i'd say i don't know 0.99

00:43:34.560 maybe give him a shot. The purpose in losing all the weight was to go on dates with these guys who

00:43:40.980 were looking past you. This actually gets to an important point. Ben and I were talking about

00:43:47.260 this unfriendly fire the other day. Based on that bit from Peter Kreeft, the great Catholic 0.99

00:43:54.120 philosopher who did an interview on Matt Fradd's show, and he talked about falling in love with

00:43:57.740 his wife. And he said, can you love a person even when the person gets old and fat and ugly?

00:44:04.560 And even when the person gets kind of nasty and starts to lose her mind a little bit, he said, I fell in love with my wife again an hour after she had died.

00:44:11.380 I'm looking at her desiccated body, and I realized she was beautiful, beautiful like a crucifix.

00:44:17.400 And Ben made a half good point where he said, yeah, see, it's such a beautiful clip because it means that beauty is in the soul, not the body.

00:44:27.820 And I say that's a half good point because beauty is in the soul, but the soul is not really separable from the body in our earthly sojourn here.

00:44:38.540 And so I said, no, no, no, Ben, when Dr. Kreeft says that he falls in love with his wife again as a body, actually just as a body, because the body was as beautiful as a crucifix.

00:44:52.020 We're saying the crucifix is the image of perfect love.

00:44:55.460 Christ crucified is the image of perfect love.

00:44:57.340 And that is physical.

00:44:59.260 And so there is a physical aspect.

00:45:01.860 Beauty is not just skin deep, but it doesn't exclude the skin either.

00:45:07.840 There's an interplay of both because human beings are both of those things.

00:45:10.920 So don't exclude him just because he didn't find you physically attractive before,

00:45:14.840 and now he does find you physically attractive.

00:45:16.160 I'd say give him a shot.

00:45:16.820 Okay, next one.

00:45:18.580 Michael, last year I sent you a rather scathing voicemail bag about your terrible stance on daylight savings time.

00:45:23.140 And although you seem to get a real kick out of it, it obviously failed to stick.

00:45:25.760 So I'm going to remind you why we should retire Daylight Savings Time in favor of permanent standard time.

00:45:30.580 You mentioned Chesterton's fence.

00:45:31.900 In the case of Daylight Savings Time, we don't have to know why this particular fence was built,

00:45:35.620 but only who was responsible for building it.

00:45:37.720 Namely, some of the worst liberals in American history, including Woodrow Wilson, FDR, and LBJ, 0.90

00:45:42.180 making Daylight Savings Time at least as gay and communist as soccer, if not more so. 0.72

00:45:46.580 Although I've not missed an episode of the show in nearly four and a half years, 0.77

00:45:49.360 if you continue to espouse such a light in the loafers' Marxist opinion,

00:45:52.420 I may be forced to abandon the creme de la creme for the sweet baby gang,

00:45:55.000 and I don't think you or I really want that.

00:45:57.240 So, for both our sakes, please reconsider.

00:46:00.340 Love the show.

00:46:01.300 They call me gay because I play ukulele. 0.91

00:46:03.540 They call me gay because I have loafers 0.90

00:46:06.380 and sometimes dance in them.

00:46:07.800 They call me gay because I was an actor. 0.62

00:46:09.720 They call me, and now they call me gay

00:46:12.460 because I like changing the clocks once or twice a year.

00:46:15.180 Is that where we're at?

00:46:17.080 Yes, I am aware that,

00:46:20.360 though I actually had forgotten for a year or two,

00:46:22.240 that the daylight savings time thing was pushed by bad presidents.

00:46:26.980 But bad presidents have done some good things before.

00:46:32.840 Harry Truman, he won World War II with the help of FDR, who was a terrible president,

00:46:38.100 but he helped win World War II too.

00:46:40.160 It's not all bad.

00:46:41.960 Not everything that a bad person does is necessarily bad.

00:46:48.340 Hitler drank water, and he liked dogs.

00:46:51.880 So I don't like dogs. 0.87

00:46:52.640 So actually, that's a bad example.

00:46:53.720 In any case, it's another mark in favor of daylight savings time that you can use it

00:47:01.700 to prove that not even Woodrow Wilson was all bad.

00:47:04.120 Okay, next question.

00:47:05.440 I want to get to one more.

00:47:06.140 I know I'm late.

00:47:06.580 I don't care.

00:47:08.160 Hello, Mr. Knowles.

00:47:09.020 I see that you are defending daylight savings time by arguing that it is basically an American

00:47:12.720 tradition or part of American culture by now.

00:47:15.940 However, I would argue that the setting the clocks back and forth is more like an application 0.87

00:47:19.860 of transgender ideology applied to time, a sort of trans-time, you could say. Because time has a 0.95

00:47:25.440 meaning, does it not? Noon is supposed to be in the middle of the day, which has to do with the

00:47:29.760 position of the sun and such. If we set our clocks back or forth to pretend that noon is something

00:47:34.860 else, how is that different than a man pretending that he is a woman? Time has a meaning, just like 0.51

00:47:39.920 man and women have meaning. So while conservatives do respect tradition, and as an Orthodox Christian

00:47:44.620 conservative, I can say that tradition is basically my blood type, I would argue that we should be

00:47:48.780 opposed to daylight savings times because if we allow people to pretend that time is not what it 0.97

00:47:53.800 actually is then the trans ideology will never be really as you say eradicated also please tell

00:48:00.520 whoever's in charge of picking songs for music monday to use the ones i suggest every week when

00:48:04.800 i send them to your mailbox and email i think my songs would be more prone to a substantive

00:48:09.860 analysis than what you've been recently exposed to just my opinion thank you so because i like

00:48:16.040 changing the clocks not only am i gay but i'm trans is that that's the new okay why did we keep

00:48:21.320 doing the member block today uh okay it's now your argument is a more interesting argument

00:48:25.600 and a deeper argument than just you know woodrow wilson bad so you're saying look the sun should

00:48:32.420 be at the top of the sky at noon in other words time has real physical reference points that we

00:48:40.120 should respect. And by arbitrarily taking time into our own hands, we sort of make ourselves

00:48:47.160 into gods. And we're just the same as a man who says that he's a woman. Now, of course,

00:48:56.020 we have taken time into our own hands many times and not just the libs, not just the trannies. 1.00

00:49:03.120 The French did that in the revolution. They tried to remake how they ordered time. And so, 1.00

00:49:07.640 Okay, that's a bad example.

00:49:09.420 But we've had the Gregorian calendar, the Julian calendar.

00:49:14.300 We've had standard time, daylight savings time.

00:49:17.060 And then I think that the bigger issue for your argument is time zones.

00:49:23.820 Because, okay, if time is, if the reference point for time is just the position of the sun,

00:49:31.380 then what of the person who's 50 miles away?

00:49:37.640 what time is it for the person who's 50 miles away?

00:49:40.280 Because the position of the sun

00:49:41.100 will be slightly different in the sky.

00:49:43.220 And for the person who's 300 miles away,

00:49:45.640 it'll be different.

00:49:47.480 And so then you enter into this question of time zones,

00:49:49.940 but even within time zones,

00:49:51.040 the sun will be at a slightly different position in the sky,

00:49:54.080 depending on where you are.

00:49:55.580 So at a certain point,

00:49:56.600 you have to take the matter into your own hands

00:49:58.180 and draw some sort of,

00:50:00.020 not necessarily arbitrary,

00:50:01.600 but just decisive position.

00:50:04.120 And so this gets into a very deep matter,

00:50:05.980 which is when we talk about social construction, you know, things are, we just construct things.

00:50:13.200 But there is objective truth and there is mental construction. And the two actually have a

00:50:19.980 relation to each other. Mind-independent things and mind-dependent things have a relation to one

00:50:26.140 another in our cognitive power. Because the cognitive power is perceiving real things

00:50:32.800 mediated by signs, but it also is drawing connections and helping to construct things

00:50:39.880 and make deductions from the world. And so, there is a relationship there. There is, to quote the

00:50:46.480 great philosopher Kamala Harris, a great significance to the passage of time. And we

00:50:50.760 have to play some role in that with our cognitive powers, using our minds to overcome the challenges

00:50:59.520 is presented by the physical world.

00:51:01.820 And we do that with things like time zones

00:51:04.160 and daylight savings time.

00:51:06.480 It's Fake Headline Friday.

00:51:07.220 The show continues now.
