00:13:53.620 but they did so for a purpose. You can't make an omelet without cracking some eggs.

00:45:45.480 coalitions, big news coming out of the Charlie Kirk case, not the criminal case against Tyler

00:45:51.900 Robinson, but out of the broader context of his assassination. This news just broke yesterday.

00:45:58.520 And the Kirk family is filing a wrongful death suit against Utah Valley University.

00:46:05.800 I was just at Utah Valley University last week.

00:46:08.000 There was a commemoration for the one-year anniversary of Charlie's murder.

00:46:11.640 And some of his friends were out there for that ceremony on the campus itself.

00:46:17.520 So I was just out there.

00:46:18.840 I saw the campus firsthand.

00:46:20.240 I was a stone's throw from the place that he was murdered.

00:46:23.160 And there were clearly security failures.

00:46:26.520 Some of those security failures are coming to light.

00:46:28.900 Here is one of Charlie's right-hand men, Andrew Colvett, discussing this on Fox News.

00:46:34.820 You know, one of the things that I've become aware of in the aftermath here, Lawrence,

00:46:38.740 is that that rooftop was known by school officials to be a common hangout of students

00:46:46.800 that would go people-watch up on the rooftop.

00:46:50.120 That's something that I've become aware of just recently.

00:46:52.680 But to me, that's also shocking that school officials, this is their home.

00:46:58.340 They're supposed to know how to control and protect people in their home.

00:47:02.640 And, you know, people don't understand our security has jurisdiction in the bubble, Charlie's

00:47:31.880 And there's just such a litany of points where the ball was dropped and Charlie's life, not

00:47:36.960 only Charlie's life was put in danger, obviously, but I think one of your other analysts said

00:47:46.220 Remarkably, I hate to say it that way, but who knows the gunman could have sprayed into

00:47:50.140 the crowd.

00:47:51.440 Yeah, this is big news because obviously the state has presented a lot of evidence

00:47:57.200 that Tyler Robinson went up and climbed up through the building and got up onto the roof.

00:48:03.080 And the Robinson defense hasn't even really countered any of that yet. I don't know that

00:48:07.140 they will. I suspect they probably won't even. But the premise of all of that was,

00:48:14.960 well, look, we just didn't realize. It was just so hard to get to. We couldn't even think. We

00:48:19.080 couldn't even imagine that this would be a potential breach of security. Now we know that

00:48:24.280 wasn't true. People did know about it. Charlie's security team called attention to that to the

00:48:32.380 campus police and said, hey, we've identified a security threat. We need to make sure that that

00:48:37.820 gets locked down. Do you want us to lock it down? Do you want to lock it down? And according to the

00:48:41.700 filing from Kirk's family. He says, if this is true, it would be nice to either have it controlled

00:48:51.600 access or allow one of my guys, one of Charlie's security team, to be there as well if possible.

00:48:57.000 And the chief of police said, I got you covered. Don't worry about that door to the roof. I got

00:49:02.820 you covered. So a lot of people had been banging their heads against the wall, not just Charlie's

00:49:07.700 friends and family, but also people who loved him abroad. And they said, how could you not be

00:49:12.980 monitoring the roof? How could you not have thought of this? According to this wrongful

00:49:17.100 death suit from the Kirk family, they did think of it. They called attention to the chief of police.

00:49:22.260 The chief of police assured them that he would take care of it. Now, it might not be the chief

00:49:26.180 of police's fault because there is some reporting that actually the decision had to go to the

00:49:30.420 administration of UVU. But somewhere there, there was a major, major collapse of security.

00:49:39.500 And it seems to fall either with the police or with the administration or with both.

00:49:45.220 In any case, absolutely egregious. According to Brett Parkinson, which is the, he's the lawyer

00:49:51.340 for the Kirk family, Charlie's murder was entirely preventable and in fact would not have happened

00:49:55.920 had the state of Utah and UVU followed through on their stated security promises,

00:50:00.420 which included protecting the rooftops surrounding the quad where Charlie was speaking.
