The Michael Knowles Show - Ep. 397 - CNN’s Credibility Sleeps With The Fishes

00:00:00.000 A hilarious right wing troll calls Chris Cuomo Fredo to his face. Fredo flies off the handle 0.92

00:00:07.580 and then both Cuomo and CNN try to play the race card to excuse him, insisting that Fredo

00:00:14.000 is a slur for Italians. As the only paisano of Italian American descent over here at the Daily

00:00:20.380 Wire, I will explain the difference between words that make fun of Italians and words that make fun

00:00:26.660 of Stronsi like Chris Cuomo. Then more bizarre details emerge about Jeffrey Epstein's obvious

00:00:32.420 murder at the hands of Hillary. I mean, suicide, suicide. Then the culture wars heat up as 2020

00:00:39.800 Democrats spread flagrant lies, unsensitive racial issues. All that and more. I'm Michael Knowles,

00:00:44.440 and this is the Michael Knowles Show. Suicide. Yeah, that's the ticket. That's the ticket. Uh,

00:00:56.140 this is the absolute greatest video that has come out in at least two weeks. It is the funniest

00:01:01.340 thing on the internet. Chris Cuomo of CNN being confronted by this right wing troll. We'll explain 0.90

00:01:06.420 what happened, what it means, why Cuomo's defense is bogus, and also maybe why we shouldn't encourage

00:01:11.240 these kinds of things, but we can laugh when they happen. We will get to that in a second. But first,

00:01:16.040 let me tell you something. On occasion, I have actually done business. I mean, now my job is to

00:01:21.740 kind of just make fun of media figures and politicians. But in the old days, at least,

00:01:25.640 I used to be involved in growing businesses, in starting businesses. And let me tell you,

00:01:30.000 the problem growing businesses is, the problem that they have is that they sometimes have this

00:01:35.980 hodgepodge of business systems, so they can't know their numbers. This is this whole slew of

00:01:42.180 different systems and processors that will keep you from knowing the actual fundamentals of your

00:01:48.220 business. That's where NetSuite comes in real handy. Introducing NetSuite by Oracle,

00:02:08.400 and HR instantly. And we know there's no difference between time and money. We know that time

00:02:12.440 is money. And especially for growing businesses, I've been involved in businesses that have made

00:02:16.300 a ton of money and businesses that haven't made a ton of money. And the one thing they have in

00:02:21.320 common when you start is at the beginning, every penny counts, every dollar counts, maybe more

00:02:25.460 importantly, every minute counts. I really wish that we had had a system like this when we'd started

00:02:30.720 a few businesses, actually, that I was involved with years ago. It's an incredible solution from

00:03:08.000 This, I was going to go get a lot of work done last night when I got home.

00:03:14.560 I had a ton of things on the schedule to do, wanted to prepare the show. And then

00:03:18.360 this video went viral on the internet. CNN's Chris Cuomo screaming at a Trump supporter

00:03:25.360 because the Trump supporter called him Fredo, which refers to the godfather, refers to the stupid 1.00

00:03:30.760 brother in the godfather, Fredo. Chris flies off the handle and then I was just sucked down a vortex of 1.00

00:03:36.240 memes for the rest of the night. Here is the beginning. Thank goodness it was filmed by this

00:03:42.540 same trollish guy who was provoking Cuomo. Thank goodness it was filmed. Here is Cuomo reacting to 0.75

00:03:48.040 being called Fredo.

00:03:50.040 I thought that, I thought, I thought that's who you were. Oh.

00:03:52.400 No, barking ass bitches from the right call me Fredo. My name is Chris Cuomo. I'm an anchor on CNN. 1.00

00:03:57.340 Oh, you're much...

00:03:57.740 Fredo is from the godfather. He was our weak brother.

00:04:01.180 Isn't that your brother, though?

00:04:01.700 And they use it as an Italian dispersion. Any of you Italian?

00:04:04.880 I'm a little bit.

00:04:05.340 Are you Italian? It's a f***ing insult to your people. 1.00

00:04:08.220 It's an insult to your f***ing people. It's like the N-word for us. 1.00

00:04:11.700 Wow. 0.95

00:04:11.980 Is that a cool f***ing thing? 0.86

00:04:13.740 You're a much more reasonable guy in person than you seem to be on television. 0.90

00:04:16.980 That last line, I mean, this guy's obviously a pro. Just, oh, you seem to be much more reasonable

00:04:25.460 in person than you do on television. Chris Cuomo's claim that he's reacting to is that

00:04:31.720 the word Fredo, referring to the brother, the stupid brother and the godfather, is like the N-word 1.00

00:04:39.540 for Italians. No, it's not. It just objectively is not. I don't think it's ever been referred 1.00

00:04:46.860 to that way. I am an Italian-American. I grew up in the Italian-American culture here in

00:04:52.020 New York, right where Fredo Cuomo is from. Actually, one time when I was a waiter at a

00:04:56.540 restaurant in high school, I was the waiter for Fredo's brother, Andrew Cuomo. Andrew Cuomo

00:05:02.360 lived in my town, went to my grandmother's church. I'm from exactly the same place as the Cuomo

00:05:08.220 family from exactly the same ethnic background. Fredo is not the N-word for Italians. It is

00:05:15.160 specifically an insult that is used to make fun of Chris Cuomo. And more broadly, it's an insult

00:05:22.120 that's used to make fun of the weak or stupid brother or son in a prominent family. This is an 1.00

00:05:29.000 insult. It is an insult for stupid people, not for Italians. It also can't be the N-word for Italians 1.00

00:05:36.320 because Italians have a lot of swear words, curse words, racial epithets for themselves and for others.

00:05:43.400 And so specifically, the N-word in the Italian-American community is actually the M-word. It refers to a

00:05:51.000 word that comes from Italian and from Sicilian. I'm not going to say the word, but it's a word for

00:05:56.820 black people and it means eggplant, I guess, because eggplants have kind of dark. I'm not even going to 1.00

00:06:02.380 get into it. But so that, it actually would be the M-word. It would be the direct parallel for the 0.85

00:06:07.300 N-word. And if we're talking about a racial epithet for Italians, there are a lot of them. 0.99

00:06:11.740 They begin with the letter G. They begin with the letter W. Actually, a lot of them begin with the

00:06:16.540 letter G. There are a lot of terms that you can, they begin with the letter D. The one letter they

00:06:21.780 don't begin with is the letter F because Fredo is not a racial epithet for Italians. That is weak

00:06:28.460 sauce. But I'm not surprised that Cuomo jumped to that because the left and CNN always jump

00:06:33.080 to play the race card whenever they can, even when it's absurd. And it's virtually always absurd when

00:06:38.120 they do it. And it's certainly absurd in this case. What he is referring to, for those of you who

00:06:43.300 haven't seen the greatest movie ever made and the second greatest movie ever made, Godfather Part 1

00:06:48.800 and then Godfather Part 2. Here is the irony of it all is that someone calls Chris Cuomo Fredo and

00:06:57.340 then Chris Cuomo gets angry about this and his reaction is immediately to behave exactly like

00:07:04.200 Fredo Corleone. Here he is from the movie.

00:07:06.840 I'm your older brother, Mike, and I was stepped over.

00:07:09.940 That's the way Pop wanted it.

00:07:11.260 It ain't the way I wanted it. I can handle things. I'm smart. Not like everybody says.

00:07:19.800 Like dumb. I'm smart and I want respect. 0.98

00:07:22.660 You called me Fredo, but I'm not Fredo. I'm smart.

00:07:27.800 I got passed over for governor of New York, like my father Mario and my brother Andrew,

00:07:33.160 but I'm smart. I can do things. I can handle things. I'm not dumb like people think.

00:07:40.160 That was almost word for word, his response to this. Absolutely high-larious. 0.98

00:07:46.240 So then he doubled down. So he said, this is a racial slur because that's just what the left does.

00:07:51.920 They play the race card the minute they feel threatened or they feel insulted or they feel

00:07:56.420 like they can't answer you. CNN though, the vice president and spokesman for CNN,

00:08:02.020 Matt Dornick doubled down on this as well. He wrote, quote,

00:08:05.100 Chris Cuomo defended himself when he was verbally attacked with the use of an ethnic slur

00:08:09.540 in an orchestrated setup. We completely support him. That first sentence is almost entirely false.

00:08:16.520 Every, there are three things there he said that just are ridiculous. Verbally attacked, 0.85

00:08:22.620 ethnic slur, and orchestrated setup. He wasn't verbally attacked. Some guy called him Fredo.

00:08:30.840 It's like a little passing insult. It's not an attack. We're not equating speech with violence here.

00:08:35.220 He didn't go assault him. Chris Cuomo assaulted him. I mean, he literally threatened to do him

00:08:39.940 physical violence, which we'll see in a second. But the guy didn't verbally attack him. He made

00:08:45.640 fun of him. He said, he said, hey, Fredo. Hey, look at you, Fredo. Then ethnic slur. It's not an

00:08:50.760 ethnic slur. We showed that. And then orchestrated setup. No, it's not an orchestrated setup.

00:08:55.580 They were at a restaurant. Here's what really happened. A dude at a restaurant saw Chris Cuomo and

00:09:01.080 made fun of him. That's it. That's all it was. Not an ethnic slur, not orchestrated setup,

00:09:09.500 not verbally attacked. Here's how, by the way, if you don't need to just take my word for it,

00:09:14.540 even though I do have some expertise on this coming from New York as someone of swarthy complexion,

00:09:19.600 whose ancestors almost certainly paddled a sardine boat over from Palermo. You don't need to just take

00:09:24.840 my expertise because I have proof that CNN does not really think that Fredo is an ethnic slur.

00:09:32.620 And that's because CNN contributors and guests have repeatedly used the term Fredo to make fun of

00:09:38.660 Republicans, not even Italian Americans, just Republicans. Here's fake Republican Anna Navarro 1.00

00:09:44.740 using the term Fredo on Chris Cuomo's show to make fun of Donald Trump Jr.

00:09:49.820 Daddy kept Fredo back home. So who cares what Donald Trump Jr. says? Who cares what Donald

00:09:57.820 Trump Jr. says? All right. You know what? I don't want to talk about, you know, that entitled

00:10:01.680 Is that a racial slur? Is it a racial slur against what? The Scottish? The Trumps are Scottish, right?

00:10:09.900 I guess, I guess Fredo's an ethnic slur against the Italians and the Scots. You know, I'm a little

00:10:14.320 bit Scottish too. I tell you, it's also not an ethnic slur against the Scots. Is it an offensive

00:10:18.220 term toward Don Jr.? Yeah. Well, they're basically calling Don stupid. Don, by the way,

00:10:22.760 Don Jr. is in no way the Fredo of the Trump family, but that's neither here nor there.

00:10:27.320 Probably just one time though, right? Well, that's just one example, Michael. You're picking

00:10:30.620 out that. Well, you're fortunate. How convenient. One cherry picked example, right? Nope. Here is Rick

00:10:35.520 Wilson, another fake Republican also using the term on CNN. It's absolutely part of this,

00:10:40.420 this, you know, all the, all the forces of society are arrayed against us. It's just us and Donald

00:10:45.080 Trump against the world. And look, Devin Nunes is proving himself again and again to be the Fredo

00:10:50.860 of the Republican party. Oh gosh, an ethnic slur. Oh my goodness. Is this the end of the world? I

00:10:56.400 don't know. Ryan Lizza and Anderson Cooper, who were on that show, don't seem to be reacting too

00:11:01.260 strongly against it. Any other examples? Yes. The Boston Globe ran a whole article titled, quote,

00:11:06.740 is Don Jr. our era's Fredo Corleone? George Takei, who played the character on Star Trek a million

00:11:13.320 years ago. He retweeted it saying, quote, we should stop calling Junior Don. We should start

00:11:17.640 calling him Fredo. But actually you can even put all of those aside because my evidence that it's

00:11:23.960 not an ethnic slur that, that CNN or Chris Cuomo even takes seriously is that Chris Cuomo himself

00:11:31.020 referred to himself as Fredo. We'll get to that in a second. Then we'll get to what this means

00:11:35.500 more broadly for the culture wars. But first I have got to thank our friends over at Lending Club,

00:11:41.800 because this is a message for everybody. Everybody can let credit card debt run away with them and

00:11:46.380 accumulate a ton of it and pay absurd interest rates. I'm specifically talking to the fellas

00:11:50.420 though, because just speaking from experience, I know guys tend to not pay attention to their

00:11:55.180 finances. They let things run away. Women can do it too though. Don't do it. We have this idea in 0.99

00:12:01.420 our culture. It's buy it now, pay for it later, right? Everybody hears this. And that's how credit

00:12:05.620 card companies rope you in. Then they leave out the part about paying it later with interest.

00:12:10.620 Lending Club allows you to consolidate your debt or pay off credit cards with one fixed monthly

00:12:16.360 payment. Lending Club has helped millions of people regain control of their finances with

00:12:21.040 affordable fixed rate personal loans, which means no trips to the bank. That's great. I almost never

00:12:25.340 go to the bank as it is because I'm a millennial. No high interest credit cards. Just go to

00:12:29.660 LendingClub.com. You tell them about yourself, how much you want to borrow. You pick the terms that

00:12:34.040 are right for you. If you're approved, your loan is automatically deposited into your bank

00:12:37.940 account in as little as a few days. I think people let their finances run away with them,

00:12:42.480 not because they're stupid, not even because they're totally irresponsible. It's because 1.00

00:12:45.720 they're a little lazy. They don't want to just do the simple things they can do to save a ton of

00:12:49.720 money. Lending Club is the number one peer-to-peer lending platform with over $35 billion in loans

00:12:55.100 issued. Check it out right now. Right now, go to LendingClub.com slash Knowles. Check your rate in

00:13:01.600 minutes. Borrow up to $40,000. That is LendingClub.com slash Knowles. K-N-A-W-L-E-S.

00:13:07.380 LendingClub.com slash Knowles. All loans made by Web Bank member FDIC. Equal housing lender.

00:13:12.800 My final bit of evidence that neither Chris Cuomo nor CNN actually believes Fredo is an ethnic slur

00:13:19.840 is that Fredo, I'm sorry, Chris, used it to refer to himself on a New York radio show hosted by

00:13:27.540 Curtis Sliwa. Here he is. There's a group of people, of politicos, who always hint that they

00:13:32.860 might run, but don't necessarily plunge all the way. And they are members of La Cuomo Nostra.

00:13:39.120 So who am I then, Fredo?

00:13:40.820 Yes, exactly. So you better be careful that they, that your brother Andrew doesn't kiss you on both

00:13:46.600 cheeks. And then all of a sudden they take you out into the middle of the lake and then where's Chris?

00:13:51.120 All right. This, I've actually, I've been at political events with Curtis Sliwa, a classic

00:13:55.040 New York character. And this is just a term. That's a term that people used to refer to dumb people.

00:14:01.680 And there in a moment where Chris Cuomo wasn't being sanctimonious and beating his own chest, 0.98

00:14:06.920 where he was actually being a little self-effacing. He referred to himself as Fredo Cuomo because he

00:14:11.760 is the Fredo of the Cuomo family. There's no doubt about it. I used to defend him. It's like,

00:14:16.620 he's actually my favorite Cuomo. I'll explain why in a second. But now I can't because he actually

00:14:22.260 just behaved like Fredo would behave. I'm smart. I can handle things. Now, in defense of Cuomo,

00:14:32.060 Cuomo, I will say, I think it's perfectly fine to defend your own honor, especially if you're out

00:14:36.920 there, you're at a restaurant or a beer garden or whatever that is. And you're there maybe with

00:14:40.820 your family, maybe with some friends and some jerk calls you an idiot. I think it's perfectly 1.00

00:14:45.420 fine to defend your honor. I'm not one of these wallflowers, you know, or these people who will

00:14:49.860 say, oh, nevermind. No, it's okay. I can never talk back or never fight back. No, that's crazy.

00:14:55.360 Uh, obviously Cuomo here had escalated it, but look, if that happened to me, I, I, maybe I would

00:15:02.380 have talked back to the guy. Hopefully I would have had better lines than, than, uh, Fredo Cuomo

00:15:08.380 did because Fredo escalates. Here's, here's Fredo escalating the fight.

00:15:13.120 If you want to play, then we'll play. You've got something you want to say about what I do on

00:15:16.740 television and say it, but don't be going to fall me. Hey, listen, I don't want any problems.

00:15:20.800 You're going to have a big problem. It's a little different on TV.

00:15:24.060 Don't insult me like that. I didn't insult you. You call me Fredo. It's like, I call

00:15:28.120 you punk. You like that? You want to be your nickname? I didn't call you that. You called

00:15:32.160 me Fredo. You know my name now. Fredo. You did not think my name was Fredo. Don't be

00:15:37.100 a liar. You want to be a man, stand up like a man. I'm standing up, man. You want to be 0.56

00:15:40.760 a man up here. Get on it. Get on what you said. Get on what you said. Listen, man, I don't

00:15:46.080 have a problem with you, man. You're going to have a problem. What? What are you going to do

00:15:48.920 about it? I'll ruin you. I'll throw you down these stairs like a punk. Please do. 0.95

00:15:53.600 Why? So you can sue? So you can sue? Why don't you do it? Go take a swing. You want to call

00:15:58.020 me Fredo. Take a swing. Take a swing. Watch your hands. Watch your hands. Take a swing. No,

00:16:04.740 no, come on, boy. Come on, boy. You want to call me? Call me? Hey, listen, man. I'm not doing

00:16:09.600 anything. I'll wreck your stuff. I'll wreck your stuff. You didn't know what you were doing

00:16:14.800 when you called me Fredo. I thought it was your name. Break it up now. I thought it was your

00:16:17.700 name. You didn't know, right? You didn't know what you were saying, right? I thought it

00:16:21.480 was his name. I'm breaking it up. I'm breaking it up. This is my buddy. Hey.

00:16:27.500 Absolutely hilarious. So obviously, Fredo's the one who escalates it here, and he doesn't

00:16:31.640 even use good language. He said, you called me, you can barely hear it because you have

00:16:34.960 to bleep out every word, but you called me effing Fredo. I'll call you punk female dog. 1.00

00:16:40.340 I'll call you this. I'll throw you down that effing flight of stairs. All right, that's an actual 1.00

00:16:45.360 elevation that it just doesn't, unless you're going to back it up, it doesn't look good to threaten

00:16:49.780 something like that and then not do it. And he's obviously not going to do it. So if this happened

00:16:54.000 to me, I might talk back, but hopefully I would have some better lines. As a matter of prudence,

00:16:58.840 it's probably better to walk away and he says, hey, you're Fredo. I'd be like, hey, all right.

00:17:04.060 F you. See you later. Bye-bye. You know, you just kind of maybe flip. When people would yell at

00:17:08.340 Scalia, sometimes he would just flick the underside of his chin, which people mistakenly, people just

00:17:12.940 don't understand anything about the Italian American culture. Because the Washington Post,

00:17:16.820 I believe it was reported that the flick underneath your chin means F you. It doesn't. It means I don't

00:17:23.680 care. I don't care what you say. Maybe that's what I would have done if I had been prudent. And

00:17:27.620 if Chris Cuomo had been prudent, that's what you could do. My guess, he was out at a restaurant or a

00:17:32.880 beer garden. Maybe he had a couple adult beverages, a couple of Coca-Colas. He was feeling a little bit in

00:17:38.400 his cups and he let his temper run away with him. This is not the end of the world. And it shouldn't

00:17:43.900 be encouraged. Look, I don't like getting harassed in public by some jerk lefty. And he probably 1.00

00:17:49.580 doesn't want to get harassed in public by a hilarious right winger. So, okay, I don't think

00:17:54.360 people need to be harassing media figures. Also though, you do have to be prepared for these

00:17:59.880 sort of things to happen because of another important piece of advice in The Godfather Part

00:18:04.420 do. This from the Jewish gangster Hyman Roth, this is the business we've chosen. 1.00

00:18:14.280 I let it go. And I said to myself, this is the business we've chosen.

00:18:24.880 This is the business we've chosen. All right. If you're in the public space, if you put yourself

00:18:30.580 out there in the public, if you go in the media, then you're going to get public criticism. That's

00:18:35.340 just the way it is. It's not good. We should discourage it. You don't want to get accosted

00:18:38.680 while you're out with your family. But that is the sort of thing that you can get accosted for.

00:18:42.360 And specifically, the reason why Chris Cuomo is a real hypocrite on this is that Chris Cuomo himself 0.97

00:18:48.300 on CNN once attacked a 16-year-old kid for smirking while a maniac accosted him. He said he shouldn't 0.97

00:18:56.180 have even done that. Here's Cuomo. The face-to-face encounter, the man, Nathan Phillips,

00:19:00.520 apparently wanted to diffuse the tension, and he walked up to do exactly that. And surely the kid,

00:19:05.280 Nick Sandman, he doesn't seem to be afraid, but he did make a choice, and that was to make it into

00:19:10.080 a standoff. That was not a good choice. Was it legal? Sure. That's not my test, and it shouldn't

00:19:16.500 be the test. Here's mine. If that were my son, who happens to go to a great Catholic school,

00:19:21.420 would I like what he did? If I were there, would I have allowed the kids to be in that

00:19:26.120 situation? No and no. There was a disrespected play that doesn't work for me in these circumstances.

00:19:32.940 Yeah, definitely, Fredo. Okay, that makes sense. So you've got a 16-year-old kid who is doing

00:19:38.160 nothing wrong other than waiting for his school bus on the Washington Mall. He's being screamed at by

00:19:44.280 black supremacists called the Hebrew Israelites, calling him all sorts of awful names. Then there's 0.99

00:19:49.140 a leftist lunatic activist, a guy named Nathan Phillips, who marches up to the 16-year-old kid, 0.94

00:19:54.380 starts banging a drum in his face, and this kid exhibits saintly patience, saintly restraint, 0.95

00:20:00.760 and saintly prudence. And Chris Cuomo attacks him for it because the kid didn't, I don't know what,

00:20:05.500 shine the guy's shoes or something? But meanwhile, some guy makes an offhand comment to Chris Cuomo at

00:20:10.700 a beer garden or a restaurant or wherever they were, and Cuomo loses his mind, threatens to throw him down

00:20:15.780 a flight of stairs and unleashes a stream of expletives. Maybe Chris Cuomo should call up

00:20:22.300 that 16-year-old kid, Nick Sandman, ask him for advice on how to handle public criticism,

00:20:26.820 on how to handle public confrontations. Absolutely ridiculous. I do, however, have, just before we 0.99

00:20:32.160 leave this Fredo Cuomo story, get to more important things, I do have a very unpopular opinion.

00:20:38.740 Chris Cuomo is my favorite Cuomo. He actually is. He is so much better than his brother and father.

00:20:44.160 I'm obviously damning with faint praise here because his brother and father are two of the

00:20:47.820 worst political figures in American history. His brother legalized the killing of babies up until 0.87

00:20:52.380 the point of birth in New York state, removed penal protections such that if you murder a woman who's

00:20:57.260 pregnant, no longer will that be counted as a double murder. That's only a single murder, even if she's 1.00

00:21:02.000 about to give birth. He lit up Freedom Tower in pink on the day that he legalized infanticide in New

00:21:06.920 York. His father, also Mario Cuomo, is almost worse. Mario Cuomo is the guy who constructed the main

00:21:13.400 political argument for supporting abortion, which is that Mario and Andrew, and I guess Chris, are

00:21:19.180 nominally Catholic. They don't really seem to be Catholic because they support murdering babies as 1.00

00:21:23.880 they're being born. But what Mario did was he wanted to give cover to Geraldine Ferraro, who is running as

00:21:29.360 the first Catholic woman pro-abortion vice presidential candidate. And so he gave her cover by saying,

00:21:36.480 I am personally opposed to abortion, but I think it should be totally legal. I would never impose

00:21:43.940 my personal views on the public. What are you talking about? You impose your personal views on

00:21:49.160 taxes, on healthcare, on our forms of government, on the judiciary. You impose your personal views

00:21:56.260 everywhere in politics. That's what politics is in a representative democracy, is you are elected

00:22:01.060 and then you use your judgment and your views to govern the country. And when you're voting,

00:22:07.120 you use your personal views to elect people, to represent you in the government. It's a total BS.

00:22:12.260 Also, if you think that abortion is tantamount to murder, which is the position of the Catholic 0.96

00:22:17.740 Church and it's ostensibly the position you're supposed to hold, then in what universe can you say,

00:22:22.800 look, I think murder is wrong personally, but I don't think we should have any laws against murder.

00:22:27.020 I can't impose my personal views against murder on the public. What nonsense is that? And yet this

00:22:32.160 became the main argument for abortion supporters to give them cover. So Andrew and Mario are absolute

00:22:39.000 degenerates. I mean, absolutely horrible people. By comparison, Fredo ain't looking too bad. He lost 0.99

00:22:43.980 his temper there, but I'll take him any day over that awful brother and his awful father.

00:22:48.500 Speaking of terrible people, we've got to get to the latest on Jeffrey Epstein. CBS News is now

00:22:53.080 reporting, quote, there was shrieking heard from Jeffrey Epstein's jail cell the morning he died.

00:22:57.960 And you know, when you kill yourself, you're usually shrieking, right? Probably shrieking

00:23:02.720 somebody to the effect of, oh no, Hillary, please don't. It sounds like, that's the sound you make

00:23:07.540 when you commit suicide. No, I'm only kidding. So the first line of the piece says, quote,

00:23:11.660 on the morning of Jeffrey Epstein's death, there was shouting and shrieking from his jail cell,

00:23:15.080 a source familiar with the situation told CBS News. That doesn't sound great. Second line is,

00:23:20.820 quote, corrections officers attempted to revive him while saying, quote, breathe Epstein, breathe.

00:23:25.680 So it's not a well-written story because you don't know if the shouting was from Epstein or if it was

00:23:30.840 from the guards or the people who discovered his body. Another inmate talking to another outlet said

00:23:36.620 that he heard nothing when Epstein killed himself. It was a perfectly silent act.

00:23:41.660 Now there's a raid on the private island that Epstein owned. The New York Post is reporting

00:23:47.800 that Jeffrey Epstein used a bedsheet to hang himself and that he was unattended for hours.

00:23:54.760 Again, more lurid details are going to come out. We still don't have that autopsy.

00:23:58.980 It's all very suspicious. Even more suspicious is a New York Times reporter, James B. Stewart,

00:24:04.700 sat down with Epstein a year ago. And we didn't get this at the time because the interview is on

00:24:09.520 background. So Epstein said, yeah, I'll talk to you, but it's going to be on background. So you can't use

00:24:13.360 my name. What the reporter said is now that Epstein is dead, he thinks that that is no longer binding.

00:24:18.500 And I think that's a fair principle. So here is what the guy learned, the New York Times reporter.

00:24:26.320 He said he walked into Epstein's giant mansion and there was a young girl in her late teens or maybe

00:24:31.360 20 who opened the door. She looked like she was from Eastern Europe. He thought, wow, this guy is so

00:24:35.660 flagrantly just showing off his and flaunting his preference for underage girls. He then said Epstein

00:24:44.380 showed him a photo of Mohammed bin Salman, crown prince of Saudi Arabia. He said that Mohammed bin

00:24:50.700 Salman had visited Epstein many times and that they spoke frequently. Now with all of his claims,

00:24:56.440 you never know if Epstein is BSing or if it's true because he's obviously a con man. But on the other

00:25:01.300 hand, he's hung around with a lot of powerful people, some of the most powerful people in the

00:25:05.720 world, including two US presidents. We also know that Epstein was issued a Saudi passport. So he's

00:25:11.460 clearly got some relationship with Saudi Arabia. And if he is a big sex trafficker, that wouldn't be 0.77

00:25:17.940 very surprising. Then Epstein showed the reporter photos with Bill Clinton and Woody Allen, two of the 0.80

00:25:24.280 best known sexual degenerates in America. He then implied that he was advising Elon Musk and Tesla.

00:25:31.300 He then waxed philosophic about how awful it was to criminalize sex with teenage girls.

00:25:36.680 How for most of history, this was perfectly acceptable. So he was speaking like a guy who

00:25:40.620 genuinely has the sexual preference for young girls. And he was saying it's beautiful. It's a

00:25:45.220 wonderful thing. How awful. He compared it to homosexuality. So that was long considered a crime,

00:25:49.620 but now it's no longer considered a crime. He told this reporter that he had seen a lot of

00:25:57.180 prominent tech figures doing drugs and arranging for sex. Epstein apparently never drank or did any

00:26:02.880 drugs, just underage girls. The, the reporter then got a call from Epstein a week later asking if he

00:26:09.900 wanted to have dinner with Woody Allen and Epstein. He then got a call a week after that asking if he

00:26:15.060 wanted to have dinner with Michael Wolff, the author of that trash book about the Trump administration,

00:26:20.260 and Steve Bannon, former Breitbart head and former strategist for Trump. Did these dinners happen?

00:26:28.220 We don't know. Were these guys in Epstein's orbit? Maybe. We, I don't know. Some of them obviously

00:26:34.060 were, but maybe not all of them. Epstein then asked the reporter to write a biography of Epstein.

00:26:39.480 And the reporter said he thought that Epstein just wanted companionship. He just wanted someone to talk

00:26:45.000 to. The reporter turned it down. So now we don't have the details from that biography. Probably

00:26:50.000 would have been pretty interesting. The, the portrait that's being painted here in this New York Times

00:26:53.960 piece is one of a hustler and a con man. So maybe not this international man of mystery more than just

00:27:02.120 a, a really, really successful common hustler. Maybe that's the image being painted. Again, we don't

00:27:08.580 know. All you can take are these little pictures. I mean, these guys do exist. Real hardcore hustlers do

00:27:14.440 exist, especially in New York. I've met a few of them, but here's the key. Here's the key from,

00:27:19.360 from the reporter. The overriding impression I took away from our roughly 90 minute conversation

00:27:25.940 was that Mr. Epstein knew an astonishing number of rich, famous, and powerful people and had photos

00:27:31.720 to prove it. He also claimed to know a great deal about these people. Some of it potentially damaging

00:27:36.260 or embarrassing, including details about their supposed sexual proclivities and recreational drug use.

00:27:40.960 Vanity Fair doubled down on this. They got bombshell information about the private sex island

00:27:46.380 from Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's partner in crime. We'll get to that in one second,

00:27:52.420 plus a few more stories that we just can't miss today. But first, I have got to say goodbye to

00:27:56.960 Facebook and YouTube. And by the way, you're almost out of time to purchase tickets to our

00:28:54.920 So we got this bombshell out of Vanity Fair. I mean, it's hard to call it a bombshell. Every story in

00:29:00.760 the Epstein saga seems to be a bombshell, but they do keep coming out. And this is from Vanity Fair,

00:29:06.620 specifically about Ghislaine Maxwell, who was that British socialite whose father was a zillionaire

00:29:12.880 who had connections to the KGB and possibly Mossad to foreign intelligence agencies. He was kind of an

00:29:18.400 international man of mystery, died under strange circumstances. Ghislaine Maxwell was hanging around

00:29:23.440 Epstein all the time. And this is from the article, quote,

00:29:27.360 on the weekends in the 1990s,

00:29:29.420 Maxwell would have her rollerblades FedExed to Epstein's island in the Caribbean and said she got her

00:29:34.760 helicopter's license so she could transport anyone she liked without pilots knowing who they were.

00:29:42.280 Maxwell also said the island had been completely wired for video.

00:29:45.720 The friend thought that she and Epstein were videotaping everyone on the island

00:29:49.020 as an insurance policy, as blackmail. Sounds about right. I mean, the helicopter thing is really

00:29:56.900 big. We read before that Maxwell was flying people on helicopter. The reason to fly people on helicopter

00:30:02.040 over there is then you don't need to hire the pilots for the private jet. So for instance,

00:30:07.460 if somebody like a Bill Clinton or a prime minister of somewhere or a very important figure

00:30:11.820 wants to get to that island without having to really disclose it, without really being noticed,

00:30:17.000 if you keep it that close, where it's not even a staffer, but it's one of the business partners

00:30:22.000 for Epstein, romantic partner for Epstein, coming up in the one flying them over, that raises serious

00:30:29.360 questions. I mean, that's very, very convenient. Plus the idea that everything was wired. So you had

00:30:34.700 cameras, you had photos. Apparently when SDNY raided the mansion, the largest private residence in

00:30:42.020 Manhattan owned by Epstein, that they found compromising material on different people.

00:30:47.580 So it does seem like there was a big blackmail scheme going on here. The question is, was it a

00:30:51.660 state-backed conspiracy or was Maxwell just a kook? This is what Vanity Fair says, quote,

00:30:57.820 a source close to Maxwell says she spoke glibly and confidently about getting girls to sexually 0.95

00:31:02.740 service Epstein, saying this was simply what he wanted and describing the way she'd drive around to

00:31:07.640 spas and trailer parks in Florida to recruit them. She would claim she had a phone job for them and 0.97

00:31:13.160 quote, you'll make lots of money, meet everyone and I'll change your life. So who knows? Who knows?

00:31:21.460 I mean, she obviously had this personal relationship. There's apparently this weird sex temple. It looks 0.58

00:31:27.220 like an Egyptian sort of temple on the private island. I mean, there is some weird kooky stuff going 1.00

00:31:32.880 on here. We don't know if it's state-backed. We don't know if it's backed by some

00:31:37.340 international organized crime cabal. We don't know if it's just a supervillain and his creepy

00:31:42.260 girlfriend. What we do know is we need to talk to Ghislaine Maxwell. Her whereabouts are apparently

00:31:47.240 unknown right now. I wouldn't be surprised if she were in hiding, but obviously she's one of the

00:31:52.220 only people, if not the only person, who can provide information on what was going on. And so I

00:31:57.880 assume the authorities are looking for her, but she's the only way that this story isn't going to

00:32:01.500 completely die with Jeffrey Epstein, though it may already be too late. Speaking of too late,

00:32:07.100 might be too late for our culture, as a matter of fact, here in the West, because there is a story

00:32:10.940 coming out. It went viral. You've heard of these drag queen reading hours for little children at

00:32:16.660 libraries. Why this is happening? There's no good reason why this is happening. I mean,

00:32:20.740 the real reason that it's happening is so that the cultural left can indoctrinate and inculcate

00:32:24.880 these bizarre ideas in children at a very young age. But there is no good reason for this to

00:32:31.060 happen. Why would you have grown men who think that they're women or dress up like women who 0.94

00:32:34.360 sexualized themselves sitting around with small children, reading them stories? Well,

00:32:38.780 at a UK library, a drag queen recently taught kids how to twerk as seen on a viral video that 0.60

00:32:46.700 was then promoted by the library. Would you like to do some of those funny little dances from

00:32:52.240 Fortnite? Does anybody know any of the dances from Fortnite? Oh, then you are a credit to your

00:32:58.040 community. But most of all, Michael likes to twerk. Now, does anybody in this room know how to twerk?

00:33:07.880 All right, well, it's quite important to the story, so I will just give you a very quick

00:33:10.860 demonstration. All you need to do is you just stand with your feet sort of shoulder width apart

00:33:15.340 like so. Okay, I'll show you at the side so you can get a better view of it. And you're crouched down

00:33:20.540 into this sort of position here, so your bum's sticking out. I hope you're taking this all in. 0.79

00:33:25.220 And then you just move your bum up and down like that. And that's twerking. 0.86

00:33:31.900 If you are only listening to that and you haven't seen that yet, you are blessed. You are so fortunate.

00:33:38.440 It would that I could be you, but I did see it. And twerking, for those who don't know, is when you

00:33:44.280 basically just simulate the sexual movements. I mean, a lot of modern dancing, quote unquote, is

00:33:49.680 that, but twerking is kind of the logical extreme of it, where you're just kind of shifting your hips

00:33:54.020 back and forth and thrusting your pelvis and putting your derriere out in the air. That's what this 0.70

00:34:00.700 dude in a dress was doing in front of toddlers. Pulls up his skirt a little bit and then starts

00:34:07.220 shaking his derriere. And the library bragged about this on social media. There is no excuse 0.99

00:34:15.760 for this. There is no justification for this, not in the name of open-mindedness, not in the

00:34:21.940 name of tolerance or inclusion or culture or liberalism or diversity or anything. This is

00:34:27.600 the extreme of sexualizing material for little tiny children. And before you have the knee-jerk 0.93

00:34:38.100 reaction, some on the left have this knee-jerk reaction of, oh, you're transphobic or homophobic

00:34:42.700 or phobic-phobic or whatever nonsense words they invent, ask yourself, what is the purpose of this?

00:34:49.120 What is accomplished by this? It's, what is accomplished? It desensitizes kids to bizarre

00:34:56.380 sexual proclivities. It desensitizes kids to sexualized material.

00:35:03.780 Maybe it makes hyper-sexualized or uncommonly sexualized people feel more in the mainstream

00:35:13.180 of society, but why are we trying to mainstream bizarre sexual activities and delusions?

00:35:19.200 And certainly, I mean, you would know, if you had just a regular old straight white male,

00:35:23.200 guy wearing, I don't know, a Oxford shirt and a pair of chinos, walk into that library and say,

00:35:28.140 hey guys, my name's Keith. I'm a regular middle-aged white guy and I'm going to read you a book today.

00:35:35.360 But before I do that, I'm going to thrust my pelvis in the air repeatedly and then stick out my derriere 0.99

00:35:41.800 and make sure that all you little kids can see it. The guy would be arrested in two seconds. 0.98

00:35:46.860 But because this guy, I don't even know his name, the drag queen, can claim a victim status,

00:35:53.580 because the people who are putting him up to this can claim a victim status,

00:35:56.000 they can get away with anything. This is why victimhood is such a valuable currency.

00:36:01.260 And whenever someone is claiming victimhood, you should immediately be skeptical of what they're

00:36:06.040 talking about because they are using that as a protective shield to get away with things that

00:36:11.440 regular old people wouldn't get away with. It's happening in the UK and it's happening 0.99

00:36:15.700 throughout the United States. That video happens to be from the United Kingdom, but we've seen

00:36:20.460 similar incidents here and it's, it's only getting worse. And the key to it is the victim culture.

00:36:25.520 The more you allow victim culture to exist, the more you try to co-opt victim culture,

00:36:29.640 even you're playing a losing game. It's a Faustian bargain that is going to lose you all of your

00:36:34.080 cultural premises. Speaking of the culture wars, Washington Post is furious at Trump.

00:36:39.200 They say, quote, from race to plastic straws, Trump dials up the culture wars for 2020 votes.

00:36:47.700 See, Trump is engaging in the culture wars and that's bad. The left, they don't engage in the

00:36:52.520 culture wars, right? The left is the culture war. They are the storm. They are the culture war.

00:36:57.640 Trump is simply fighting back against the culture wars. He's engaging in them. Yeah. But is he dialing

00:37:02.780 them up? No, he's simply responding to them. Here's, here's how I can prove it to you.

00:37:07.880 We had straws. We had plastic straws in this country and it was fine. Everything was totally

00:37:12.620 fine and it didn't bother anybody. Then one day, a nine-year-old child in Canada did a study

00:37:20.600 for a class report. And he came up with this ridiculous number that said that we're using a

00:37:27.160 zillion, gazillion, or however many straws per day. And this is destroying the planet.

00:37:32.820 And because of that, and because of leftist activism, we had to get rid of all of our plastic

00:37:38.620 straws. And now we use that mushy pulp that won't let us drink our drinks.

00:37:43.760 That was the aggression in the culture war. It serves no purpose. It won't save the environment.

00:37:48.040 It won't do anything to the natural environment. It just makes our life less convenient. It just makes

00:37:54.120 it harder to drink a milkshake. That was a massive aggression in the culture war,

00:37:58.320 taking away straws from hundreds of millions of people. But then you see, when we point out,

00:38:03.600 we fight back, we say, actually, I think we should keep our straws. They say, you're aggressing,

00:38:09.120 you're fighting the culture war. No, I'm not. I'm just, I just think it was fine. And then you

00:38:13.700 invented a problem out of nothing. And then you took away my plastic straws, which makes my drinking

00:38:19.100 habits much more inconvenient. They say, yeah, you're dialing up the culture wars. No,

00:38:23.520 of course we're not. All of this. They say, you conservatives are so obsessed with sex.

00:38:29.040 What do you talk, what are you talking about? We're not the ones dragging drag queens into public 1.00

00:38:33.920 libraries to twerk for three-year-olds. We're not the ones radically redefining the central human

00:38:38.580 institution, marriage, which has had the same definition, more or less, or at least a similar

00:38:42.960 definition for all of human history everywhere in the world. You're the ones doing that. And then when

00:38:47.760 we say, hmm, maybe that's not the best idea. Maybe we should be a little cautious about this.

00:38:52.140 You accuse us of being the aggressors in the culture war. We're not. And it's this lie.

00:38:57.000 The people who say Trump should shut up. Trump should stop tweeting. He should stop talking

00:39:01.960 about football or straws or Bette Midler, that washed up psycho singer. He should stop talking 0.98

00:39:07.540 about that. You just don't get it. We tried just talking about tax rates. We tried it. We had

00:39:16.160 Mitt Romney and he lost. We had Paul Ryan, who I really like. He wasn't successful.

00:39:25.080 John McCain just tried to talk about, you know, taxes and not social issues. He lost.

00:39:31.280 That's a losing strategy. No one cares about bean counting. No one cares. No one wakes up in a

00:39:35.300 cold sweat and says, oh, we need to reduce the marginal tax rate on that upper quintile of income

00:39:40.820 earners. No, no one cares. It's all the culture. And the left knows this. That's why the left has

00:39:46.040 been running through our cultural institutions for 50 years. And the minute conservatives fight

00:39:51.560 back, all of a sudden, this is a big issue. The Washington Post wants to make it a big issue

00:39:55.620 because they know how potent it is. They know that the only way that we're going to win is by

00:39:59.040 fighting back on the culture. Two examples. You have two presidential candidates sitting U.S.

00:40:04.620 senators lying through their teeth demonstrably about a racially divisive incident that occurred

00:40:14.180 years ago in the killing of Michael Brown. He was a black young man who was killed by a cop.

00:40:20.700 Here's what Kamala Harris said, quote, Michael Brown's murder forever changed Ferguson in America.

00:40:25.560 His tragic death sparked a desperately needed conversation and a nationwide movement. We must

00:40:29.720 fight for stronger accountability and racial equity in our justice system. He wasn't murdered.

00:40:36.160 Elizabeth Warren, five years ago, Michael Brown was murdered by a white police officer in Ferguson,

00:40:39.920 Missouri. Michael was unarmed, yet he was shot six times. I stand with activists and organizers who

00:40:43.940 continue to fight for justice for Michael. We must confront systemic racism and police violence

00:40:47.880 head on. This is complete fiction. This is a completely made up narrative. This is the narrative

00:40:53.000 you heard of hands up, don't shoot that all the congressmen did. This is the narrative that he was

00:40:57.800 hit from behind, Michael Brown. He was running away and he was hit from behind. None of that happened.

00:41:03.080 How do I know none of that happened? Well, don't take my word for it. Vox.com and the Washington Post

00:41:07.360 both admit this was a total lie from Warren and from Kamala Harris and broadly from the left.

00:41:14.120 WAPO, to their credit, gave it four Pinocchios. Michael Brown, young man, robbed a store,

00:41:19.880 then comes out. A cop pulls up on him. Michael Brown reaches into the cop car, grabs the cop's gun.

00:41:25.620 So he wasn't unarmed. He was grabbing the cop's gun. Then according to multiple witnesses of different

00:41:30.720 races, a young biracial man, an older black man, other witnesses as well, according to multiple

00:41:36.640 autopsies, he was not shot from behind. And he was grabbing the gun inside the cop car. Total lies,

00:41:44.340 totally racially divisive. Talk about cultural issues. That is being pushed by the left,

00:41:49.460 peddling lies. And yet Donald Trump stands up for some common sense, some at least grasping toward

00:41:55.520 the truth. And all of a sudden we're told it's the worst thing in the world and conservatives need

00:41:58.820 to sit down and shut up. You're dividing the country. You're racist. You're white supremacist. 0.93

00:42:03.140 Look at this trash from these people. I mean, they should be so ashamed of themselves for spreading 1.00

00:42:08.480 this racial bigotry, these horrible racial lies, Liz Warren and Kamala Harris. Next time a left 1.00

00:42:15.080 winger calls you a racist, flick your fingers under your chin. Who cares? They have no credibility 0.59

00:42:21.320 on this. It's despicable. You owe them no answer, no explanation. They are so guilty of racial division,

00:42:31.020 racial hatred and bigotry. Who cares what they think? Before we go, I have to talk about maybe

00:42:36.920 the most important story of the day. At the Pan American Games, a fencer and a hammer thrower

00:42:44.780 protested the United States. The fencer, Race Imboden. Of course that guy's a fencer.

00:42:52.940 A guy named Race Imboden. Can you imagine what prep school he went to? Can you imagine how much

00:42:59.140 sherry he drank in the evening when he was growing up? Race Imboden, a fencer, took a knee at the Pan 0.77

00:43:04.240 American Games to protest President Trump and America. I guess he was really pieced off

00:43:10.060 and couldn't just saber the moment and certainly wasn't sitting on the fence about his politics.

00:43:20.600 That's enough. Those are all of the fencing puns that I know. So thank you for indulging me in that.

00:43:25.940 What an idiot though. What a total jerk. He, another guy, this guy, Gwen Berry also, 1.00

00:43:31.260 he's a hammer thrower. He also protested America at the Pan American Games, which is something I had

00:43:35.180 never heard of until this political dustup. And here is what Race Imboden, the fencer said. He

00:43:41.880 tweeted it out. He tweeted out his picture of his kneeling. He said, quote, we must call for change.

00:43:47.500 This week I'm honored to represent Team USA at the Pan Am Games, taking home gold and bronze. My pride,

00:43:54.080 however, has been cut short by the multiple shortcomings of the country I hold so dear to my

00:43:58.340 heart. Racism, gun control, mistreatment of immigrants, and a president who spreads hate

00:44:04.720 are at the top of a long list. Now this is a little confusing because as he's saying he hates

00:44:10.580 gun control, he says racism, mistreatment of immigrants, a president who spreads hate,

00:44:14.580 and gun control. Those are all things he hates? Or he likes gun control. Then does he like racism

00:44:20.760 and the mistreatment of immigrants and a president? No, he's not, probably not, if I'm going to guess,

00:44:25.380 the brightest bulb in the pack. Or the sharpest tool in the shed. Or the sharpest saber in the,

00:44:31.580 I don't know. He goes on, quote, I chose to sacrifice my moment today at the top of the podium

00:44:36.940 to call attention to issues that I believe need to be addressed. I encourage others to please use

00:44:41.480 your platform for empowerment and change. You didn't sacrifice anything. Actually, you just stole a

00:44:49.520 moment in public. You just stole 15 minutes of fame. Nobody would have ever heard your name.

00:44:55.380 Unique as it is. Nobody would have ever heard really about your sporting activities. No one

00:45:00.320 would have ever heard about the Pan Am games. Except that you took a moment that was supposed to

00:45:05.520 honor people's athletic achievements and through those achievements their countries. And you stole

00:45:11.560 it for yourself to make a stupid political point that undermines the entire purpose of games, 1.00

00:45:17.360 sports, and certainly international athletic competitions. That's the only reason anyone's 0.98

00:45:22.980 talking about him. When was the last time people were talking about fencing? Like, never. At least

00:45:28.460 not in a hundred years. Sports are supposed to be about taking the ego and having it be subsumed into

00:45:34.120 something bigger and greater. Pushing down your ego and building up a country, a sport, a team.

00:45:41.040 That's sportsmanship. That's being a team player. You're representing the United States.

00:45:47.480 This is especially true of international games. But they don't get it. This guy doesn't get it.

00:45:52.080 Because he is obsessed with his own ego. As is Colin Kaepernick. As are all of the idiots who take a

00:45:57.240 knee and protest the American flag. It's despicable. He should be immediately removed from the team. 1.00

00:46:01.360 He should not represent the United States. He's chosen not to represent the United States.

00:46:05.280 Well, first he chose to do it and then he chose to spit on the United States. He should not be

00:46:08.920 permitted to compete in professional sports as a representative of the United States.

00:46:12.580 This is the battle. The battle isn't over taxes. The battle isn't over slight changes to the

00:46:20.560 bureaucracy. This is the battle. It's a battle for the heart and soul of America and it's a battle for

00:46:25.780 love of country. And jerks who don't love their country certainly shouldn't be the ones representing 0.99

00:46:30.100 it. That's our show. Come back tomorrow. We got a lot more to get to. We'll do it then. In the 1.00

00:46:33.320 meantime, I'm Michael Knowles. This is the Michael Knowles Show. See you tomorrow.
