00:45:08.720 Supporters of CRT say it's a way to understand and tackle racial inequality.

00:45:12.960 However, opponents CRT say CRT does the opposite.

00:45:16.460 So what is CRT?

00:45:19.280 The theory was first developed by U.S. legal scholars in the 1980s.

00:45:23.360 It argues that the laws, rules, and regulations that govern society today

00:45:26.700 have been shaped by the historical subordination of people of color.

00:45:31.220 And that this is a driving force behind racial inequality today.

00:45:36.060 Take the U.S. criminal justice system, for example.

00:45:56.840 Supporters of CRT say that the opponents miss the point.

00:45:59.380 They say a system doesn't need racists working within it to produce racially imbalanced outcomes.
