Ep. 946 - Achievement Unlocked: I'm A "Conspiracy Theorist"

Summary

Slate accuses me of peddling a conspiracy theory, but then admits that we didn t peddle any theory at all. And that is exactly why they are lying and libeling us. And that s why we have to keep pushing.

00:00:00.000 Republicans are increasingly endorsing a conspiracy theory, according to the left-wing
00:00:06.640 rag, Slate.com. And it is apparently all my fault. I, your humble host, am now officially
00:00:16.840 a conspiracy theorist, according to Slate.com. Get me a tinfoil hat. Bring me my gay frogs.
00:00:25.420 I have apparently led Republicans astray by persuading them to sign on to my public health
00:00:32.820 protection pledge, which Slate alleges makes a boogeyman out of Dr. Anthony Fauci and links him,
00:00:40.840 quote, to an ominous history with COVID-19. That is the headline. To date, writes Slate,
00:00:49.560 more than a dozen congressional candidates have signed this pledge, which was authored by The
00:00:53.900 Daily Wire's Michael Knowles. This is true. Sitting members of Congress have endorsed my pledge too,
00:01:00.560 by the way. So it's not just the candidates. It's actually members of Congress. Congressman Paul
00:01:04.460 Gosar introduced it as an official House resolution just this month. So that part's totally right.
00:01:09.860 What's the conspiracy theory that I'm peddling, you might ask? What is the accusation that I have
00:01:16.380 made? Well, Slate continues. They say, to be clear, the pledge itself makes no specific accusations
00:01:24.140 of wrongdoing. Huh. It's kind of weird. Slate accused us of peddling a conspiracy theory,
00:01:31.340 but then immediately admitted that we did no such thing. We didn't peddle any theory at all.
00:01:37.040 Slate then focuses the rest of the article on what it calls the gain of function conspiracy theory.
00:01:43.260 That is, it describes, quote, an idea that incorrectly connects U.S. funding that was
00:01:48.860 used by the Wuhan Institute of Virology to study bat coronaviruses to a theory also incorrect
00:01:54.480 that the Institute created and leaked COVID-19. Now, the strange thing about the incorrect
00:02:01.240 conspiracy theory that Slate is talking about is that it is a pretty well-established fact,
00:02:07.520 which even Slate admits just a few paragraphs later, conceding that, quote,
00:02:12.880 Fauci funded an experiment at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in which a modified coronavirus proved
00:02:20.780 unexpectedly infectious, at which point, quote, the NIH pulled funding for the project.
00:02:27.380 Slate goes on to admit that the experiment that was indirectly funded could actually have been
00:02:32.260 classified as gain of function, according to several experts, and that there is legitimate
00:02:37.760 scientific debate over the merits of conducting such experiments on viruses because of their
00:02:42.140 potential to spread disease or start pandemics. Did the virus come from the lab? Many leading
00:02:50.280 public health officials and experts say, yes, it very, very possibly, very likely even did.
00:02:54.960 In other words, after defaming me and dozens of Republicans as conspiracy theorists, Slate admits
00:03:03.280 that we aren't endorsing any particular theory at all, and the theory we might have endorsed is true.
00:03:10.800 We could much more plausibly accuse Slate and the rest of the left-wing media, by the way,
00:03:16.200 of being conspiracy theorists, but that wouldn't be quite fair because they know better than the
00:03:22.240 nonsense and the bile that they are spewing. They admit it after the headline. They know that we are
00:03:28.380 raising the right questions and telling the truth. That is why they're lying and libeling us. And that
00:03:34.940 is exactly why we've got to keep pushing, because these crooks and liars are showing us that we are
00:03:41.140 right over the target. I'm Michael Knowles. It's The Michael Knowles Show.
00:03:52.240 Welcome back to the show. My favorite comment yesterday is from Robert Rudehouse, who says,
00:03:57.880 the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world, but libs of TikTok is showing how
00:04:03.660 many of those hands are actually shaking the baby. What an apt and precise metaphor. We have a
00:04:13.180 generation now, probably two generations, of shaken babies. That's true. The hand that rocks the cradle
00:04:19.800 is the hand that rules the world. And when the hand is malicious or misguided or not up to the task,
00:04:27.480 civilization starts to fall apart. It's not good. I mean, you're seeing this, especially here
00:04:35.100 in our own country, where we're outsourcing everything, where we're throwing away American
00:04:40.380 jobs, all those good American products we used to have. We're just sending them overseas,
00:04:43.680 getting inferior product, which is why I would strongly recommend you check out Good Ranchers.
00:04:48.540 Did you know that 85% of grass-fed beef in the United States is imported from overseas? That's
00:04:55.180 right. Even if it says product of USA on it, that doesn't really mean it's from America. If it's
00:05:00.060 minimally processed here, they get to say that, and then you're going to be paying a premium for
00:05:04.220 overpriced, foreign, low-quality meat. Don't do that. Head on over to Good Ranchers. Good Ranchers
00:05:11.080 has 100% American meat, delivers it right to your door at an incredible price. I love it too,
00:05:16.700 because one, the meat is exceptional. I eat it all the time, the steaks, the hamburgers,
00:05:21.340 the chicken. But the way they package it individually is so much meat in this country
00:05:26.280 just gets thrown out. It's just completely wasted because of packaging. This, one, you're not going
00:05:30.380 to waste it because it tastes too good. But two, you're not going to have too much, and then you've
00:05:34.420 got to throw it out later. You're going to save money on both sides of that. Head on over to
00:05:37.880 goodranchers.com slash knollstoday. Solve your meat problem once and for all. Get the transparency,
00:05:42.300 quality, and cuts that you've been craving. Order now with code knolls. Get 30 bucks off your box.
00:05:48.300 Now is the time to support American farms and ranches. They're hurting. You're hungry. Solve
00:05:52.720 both problems with a box of American meat delivered. Whoever buys that meat in your house,
00:05:56.560 go to goodranchers.com slash knollstoday. The culture war issues are winners. For a long time,
00:06:05.200 you heard from the squishy Republicans, don't talk about the culture war. Don't talk about abortion.
00:06:12.300 Don't talk about immigration. Don't talk about marriage. Don't, just don't, it's just going to
00:06:18.760 turn people off. All you got to do, talk about cutting taxes. That's all people want to talk about
00:06:23.580 and then leave all the other stuff away and that's how you win elections. That's the Mitt Romney
00:06:27.940 strategy. That's the John McCain strategy. That's the Jeb Bush strategy. You remember the
00:06:35.060 Romney administration, right? And the Jeb administration and the McCain. Oh no, all those
00:06:41.380 guys lost. Their strategy was a losing strategy. I've been saying this for a long time. Now,
00:06:47.780 one of the biggest culture war issues is Dr. Fauci actually, is the medical bureaucracy that's
00:06:55.180 taking away our rights and our liberties and our way of life and forcing us all to take this
00:06:58.980 experimental drug and leading a pandemic on that was supposed to last two weeks. And now it's going
00:07:04.440 on years and years indefinitely. That's a culture war issue. We don't like the culture of some petty
00:07:10.980 little bureaucrat running our lives and upending our constitutional order. And what the same squishes
00:07:16.200 say, oh no, stop it. Stop talking about the vaccine mandates and that's just so icky. Just talk about
00:07:22.420 cutting taxes. The culture war issues are winners. The bean counting egghead issues are losers, okay?
00:07:30.980 The squishes are dead wrong. And even the Democrats know that. The smart Republicans know that. The
00:07:37.140 Democrats know that. The only people who don't know that are the squishes. The DCCC, that's the
00:07:41.140 Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee, one of the most prominent Democrat operations in the country.
00:07:47.000 They just sent out a study that concludes that the culture war is alarmingly potent for Republicans.
00:07:58.320 Politico reporting on this now. The campaign committee has been showing House Democrats
00:08:02.860 polling about how to counter GOP attacks on various issues. They say that they need to more forcefully
00:08:12.260 confront the GOP's alarmingly potent culture war attacks from critical race theory to defunding the
00:08:16.820 police. They risk losing significant ground to Republicans in the midterms. This is not just
00:08:24.040 some Democrat propaganda out there put out to the public where you might be able to say, well, look,
00:08:30.240 they're saying this, but they don't really believe this. It's just actually another way to manipulate
00:08:34.740 their voters. No, this is internal stuff, folks. This is polling. These are training sessions that the
00:08:39.400 Democrats are giving to their candidates. And they're saying, shoot, man, this critical race theory
00:08:44.480 stuff, this transgenderism stuff in the classrooms, all the culture war stuff, it's really not working
00:08:51.900 for us. And it's really working for the Republicans. Right. Republicans should take note. Think about
00:08:58.420 the Virginia election, the gubernatorial election there. Glenn Youngkin. Glenn Youngkin ran initially
00:09:03.700 as a standard run of the mill, just cut my taxes, chamber of commerce Republican. And he was going nowhere
00:09:09.360 fast. And then when he focused on issues that people actually care about, how our public schools
00:09:16.060 now are trying to turn a little Johnny into little Jane, little five-year-old boys, they're trying to
00:09:19.480 convince them they're girls, letting men go into the girls' bathroom. What happened? There was a rape
00:09:23.440 that was covered up in a high school in Virginia. And what did the superintendent do? Not only did he
00:09:28.360 cover it up there, he moved the kid to another school, it happened again. That kind of craziness,
00:09:32.700 along with other culture war issues, along with the lockdowns and the masks and the vax and immigration
00:09:39.400 and all sorts of other issues, they play for the Republicans. Immigration is probably the best
00:09:47.780 example of this. There are two opinions that you're allowed to have on immigration if you are an elite
00:09:56.440 politician, if you go to fancy places. This is both parties. The one position is we need to
00:10:02.680 knock down whatever remaining borders we have, let everybody come in. Oh, we're taking three
00:10:08.420 million immigrants a year. It should be four, five, six, or seven. There should be no limit on
00:10:12.820 immigration. That's the left-wing position. And to some degree, the kind of left libertarian position.
00:10:19.760 The right-wing position that you're allowed to have in elite politics is, yeah, we should have a ton
00:10:26.300 of immigrants. Yeah, we should have more, more, more immigrants, but it's got to be legal.
00:10:30.180 All right, this, this was even the Trump position. Trump was the most immigration restrictionist
00:10:34.740 presidential candidate that we have had in my lifetime. Serious, major presidential candidate.
00:10:39.960 And his argument was, I want more immigration than ever, but it's got to be legal.
00:10:45.280 Illegal bad, legal, legal good. That is completely out of touch with the American people. There is a new
00:10:52.480 study that just came out. And there have been studies showing this sort of thing for years,
00:10:57.640 that the majority of Americans want to dramatically reduce, not just legal or not just illegal rather,
00:11:04.120 but legal immigration as well. There was a Harvard Harris poll three, four years ago,
00:11:08.520 showed that the majority of Americans, including people from both parties, want to dramatically reduce
00:11:14.140 that kind of immigration. Well, this new poll shows 69% of Republicans, 69% of Republicans want to
00:11:20.640 reduce legal immigration. There, there is no issue, no other issue in this country where the discrepancy
00:11:29.120 between the popular opinion and the opinion of politicians in both parties is so great. And so
00:11:34.800 why is it? Because the left-wing politicians want to flood the country with foreign nationals because
00:11:39.100 they think that it will give them an electoral advantage. And frankly, they know that it will give
00:11:42.980 them an electoral advantage because all the polling shows that immigrants and the children of
00:11:47.580 immigrants who will have birthright citizenship and even the grandchildren of immigrants are
00:11:50.980 overwhelmingly going to vote for Democrats. Maybe we can pull some over to Republicans,
00:11:54.800 but the trends, if you just flood the country with enough foreigners, you're going to give an
00:11:58.640 advantage to Democrats. And why do the Republicans go along with this? The Republicans go along with it
00:12:03.360 on the legal immigration front because they're afraid of being called racist. Of course, it doesn't
00:12:07.460 make you racist to say that countries should have borders and we can't just take the entire world in
00:12:11.680 and still maintain our culture. But Republicans go squishy on that. They're so afraid.
00:12:15.520 Look at the numbers, folks. Your voters want you to do this. People in the middle want you to do this.
00:12:20.000 Even many Democrats want you to do this. Get wise. The elite game is rigged. Don't take the bait.
00:12:26.880 Give the people what they want, a policy that also happens to be right and just and in the national
00:12:32.920 interest. You know, maybe it's just because our politicians these days are not as educated as they
00:12:40.640 used to be. OK, if you want to get educated, you can check out Ben's new book club. That's right.
00:12:45.540 Ben has a new book show. It's coming out every third Thursday. Ben is going to be reading a book.
00:12:53.240 He just did 1984 by George Orwell. This is not your average book club. Ben is going to help you
00:12:57.620 experience the greatest books ever written. You're going to do it together live. It's totally taking
00:13:02.560 place live. It's kind of like an all access books like 1984, Huck Finn, many more. These are the
00:13:08.360 works that shaped Western art and culture. Ben is going to show you why. Third Thursday book club
00:13:12.320 allows you to engage with Ben like never before. And by the way, you're going to love the immersive
00:13:17.320 sets. Wait until you see what they created for Huck Finn. It's going to get everybody canceled.
00:13:21.400 Ben is gathering everyone tonight, 8 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Central. You're going to get Ben's personal
00:13:26.160 notes. You'll be doing all of this with thousands of Daily Wire members live. So right now, sign up for
00:13:31.700 the Third Thursday book club at thirdthursdaybookclub.com. Starts tonight, 8 p.m. Central,
00:13:37.080 8 p.m. Eastern, rather, 7 p.m. Central. Speaking of Ben, Ben got in a lot of trouble.
00:13:44.700 He got in a lot of trouble yesterday. He got in trouble with the bulwark. For those of you who
00:13:50.560 don't know what the bulwark is, which I imagine is all of you, it's a group of those former
00:13:56.300 Republicans who now oppose all the Republican candidates. It's the Bill Crystals and the Charlie
00:14:03.020 Sykes and the hardcore never-Trumpers who pretended it was all about Trump, but really,
00:14:09.080 they just left the GOP. They don't believe in almost any conservative perspective anymore,
00:14:13.460 and they spend all their time shilling for Democrats, and their whole operation is being
00:14:17.900 funded by leftists and Democrats. But they do so under the pretense that they are still
00:14:23.860 Republicans. They're the principled Republicans who don't believe anything that Republicans
00:14:27.740 believe, the principled conservatives who don't want to conserve a damn thing.
00:14:30.640 So Ben got in big trouble with them because Ben endorsed a law in Florida. The law in Florida
00:14:39.300 is being misrepresented by leftists as a don't say gay law. Don't say gay. What is it really? It
00:14:48.460 says that for extremely young school children, we're talking five-year-olds, six-year-olds, seven-year-olds,
00:14:53.720 they cannot be taught radical sexual ideologies in schools. So right now, there's a problem in schools
00:15:01.380 where teachers are teaching five-year-olds that they're, if they're little boys, that they're
00:15:05.800 actually little girls, and they're exposing them to all sorts of creepy sex stuff, including gay
00:15:10.520 porn, like actual gay porn. I'm not being prudish here. I'm not saying that books that deal with
00:15:15.800 difficult or challenging themes are completely off limits. I'm talking about like actual, explicit,
00:15:21.840 obscene, filthy porn that would have been illegal in this country until just a few decades ago.
00:15:27.920 This is now being taught to five and six-year-olds. And so Ron DeSantis, speaking on behalf of the
00:15:34.360 people of Florida, of ordinary sane people who don't want their kids being indoctrinated into some
00:15:38.880 creepy, perverted sex cult by radical leftists, he stood up and he said, we're not going to have that
00:15:44.520 in a classroom. We're not going to have, and now they're trying to present him as some sort of
00:15:49.000 radical. Don't forget, today in America, if a teacher teaches the Bible in a classroom,
00:15:54.180 the most important book ever written that has shaped our entire civilization, that teacher will
00:15:58.880 be punished, probably fired, maybe prosecuted. But if a teacher teaches explicit gay porn to five-year-olds,
00:16:05.260 they will be celebrated, except in Florida, which is now looking to possibly pass this bill.
00:16:10.060 So anyway, Ben came out and endorsed the bill. Of course he endorsed it.
00:16:14.220 Any reasonable person, any person with two brain cells to rub together is going to endorse this
00:16:18.440 bill. And the principled conservatives at the Bulwark went crazy. Conserving gay porn in first
00:16:26.060 grade. We're the principled conservatives conserving transgenderism, transing the five-year-olds,
00:16:33.120 right? So this guy, Tim Miller, wrote this hit piece on Ben. Tim, for those who don't know who he is,
00:16:39.400 which is probably everybody. Tim is the former press secretary for the Jeb Bush for president
00:16:46.460 campaign. He's worked on a bunch of losing campaigns, and now he spends, he's a radical
00:16:52.980 homosexual activist. It seems to be his big issue now is the ever-expanding LGBT LMNOP rights. And so
00:16:59.760 he's gone very much in that direction. But back before he was totally vocal about that,
00:17:04.740 he was actually a spokesman for the Republican National Committee, which tells you less about
00:17:09.880 Tim's conservatism and more about the RNC, which has had a lot of squishes work for it over the
00:17:17.500 years. And it was reflected in a lot of big Republican losses. So anyway, Tim writes this
00:17:25.400 piece and he says, this is awful. This is don't ask, don't tell the schools. It's very important that
00:17:28.680 we teach five-year-olds all this creepy sex stuff. It's really, really important. And if you oppose that,
00:17:34.040 you're a terrible bigot, we're going to side with the Democrats. The reason I bring it up is not
00:17:37.540 because his article is worth reading. It's not. It's not because Tim Miller matters. He does not.
00:17:42.960 It's not because Ben needs to be defended. Ben is expressing a view that is not only correct,
00:17:47.320 but extremely popular. He'll be just fine. The reason I bring it up is to show you how dumb
00:17:53.360 it was to let the squishes lead the party. Okay, how, I just want to underscore the point that
00:18:00.380 the DCCC is making here on the cultural issues. For some years, you had the squishes and the
00:18:09.520 kind of centrist libs, like kind of center right, but kind of lib. The Republicans who only cared
00:18:16.420 about cutting taxes, they said, okay, we'll team up with you actual conservatives who actually want
00:18:22.000 to conserve a damn thing about our country, like our borders and our families and our communities and
00:18:25.560 our rights and our way of life. We'll team up with you so long as we get to lead the show.
00:18:30.880 So long as we downplay abortion, downplay marriage, downplay immigration, downplay all
00:18:36.780 the cultural issues. And all we talk about is cutting taxes. And then we'll unite together and
00:18:41.000 then we're going to win. Now, while those people were leading the party, we mostly lost. We would
00:18:44.960 occasionally win a little bit, but we mostly lost. All of our big wins were usually attributable to
00:18:50.540 the cultural warriors getting to lead the show a little bit. Thinking about the contract with
00:18:57.100 America in 1994. I'm thinking about the moral majority, the religious right, right? They would
00:19:04.240 tend to galvanize voters. These squish eggheads didn't do very much. But the other problem was
00:19:08.780 when the squishes and the eggheads and the just cut my taxes Republicans were leading the show,
00:19:13.920 we social conservatives would go along with it. We said, okay, well, look, it's a coalition. That's the
00:19:18.360 way the GOP works. That's the way conservatives work, right? And we would go along with it and we
00:19:22.200 follow these schmucks off a cliff. But then the minute, the minute in recent years that the cultural
00:19:27.520 conservatives got a little bit of their mojo back and started leading things, you saw it especially
00:19:32.040 with Trump talking about immigration, talking about protecting American jobs, talking about things
00:19:37.680 that are much more cultural. What happens? What happens? These guys jump ship, they run away,
00:19:44.260 they suck up to the libs, they get all their funding for, they cash the paychecks from the libs,
00:19:48.140 they spend all their time attacking Republicans. And now they are saying to you that if you don't
00:19:52.740 want your little kid to get transed at school, if you don't want your little kid reading gay porn in
00:19:58.740 the third grade classroom, that you're a vile, disgusting bigot and you have no place in polite
00:20:03.720 society. Bye. See you guys. See you. Bye-bye. Oh no, what are we going to do without the five people
00:20:09.660 who are the squish want to cut the taxes Republicans without doing anything else? This extremely small
00:20:17.080 political minority that has had a huge outsized influence in the conservative movement, the
00:20:21.180 Republican party. What are we going to do without these guys? I'll tell you what we're going to do.
00:20:24.160 We're going to win. That's what we're going to do without them. Don't, you don't need to believe
00:20:28.000 me. The Democrats know it too. Speaking of cultural issues, China has just done something that reminds me
00:20:35.620 that even a broken clock is right twice a day. Okay. I don't really, I don't like China.
00:20:40.120 China. Communism is evil. I don't like the Chinese government. It's commits all sorts of horrible
00:20:47.000 atrocities. It suppresses Christianity. It's really bad government. But China has just given me, I think,
00:20:54.300 the best argument that I've ever heard for defecting from the West and moving to China.
00:21:00.240 They're censoring the 1990 sitcom Friends. This, look, a stopped clock, right? China is censoring Friends,
00:21:08.820 a very unfunny show. I liked Friends when it was on the air. I was a kid. I would watch it. Everybody
00:21:15.280 watched it. It does not hold up. I recently tried to rewatch it. It's impossible. When you compare
00:21:19.480 Friends to a good TV show like Frasier, it's not, it's, I don't even want to make the comparison.
00:21:24.140 Those two shows should not be uttered in the same sentence, okay? And Friends obviously should have
00:21:30.880 been censored long, long ago. If not by discerning private individuals, then by the state and possibly
00:21:37.660 the United Nations. So China, China has censored the show. They've taken out Ross's ex-wife because
00:21:44.220 she's a lesbian. They took out references to her. They took out Joey's references to going to strip
00:21:50.420 clubs and they kind of changed some of that. They took out a lot of the references to orgasms and
00:21:56.660 things like that and made it a little bit nicer. I'm only half joking when I say this is pretty smart
00:22:04.200 of China. I'm only half joking because while we as Americans and especially as conservatives have
00:22:09.400 a natural aversion to censorship of any kind by anyone, forget the government, but even private
00:22:15.980 individuals, even institutions, it is worth remembering that just like poetry requires limits,
00:22:22.040 so too does liberty, right? Really bad poetry is the poetry that doesn't have any rules. Good poetry is
00:22:27.860 sonnets, right? Sonnets that have meter, that have rhyme, that have numbers. So when you think of the
00:22:33.780 great works of Hollywood ever made, they were made during a period when Hollywood censored itself,
00:22:39.640 when there was something called the Hays Code. It was in effect from 1934 to 1968. The Hays Code
00:22:46.240 produced some of the greatest movies of all time. In those days, we got movies like Gone with the Wind,
00:22:51.060 The Wizard of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Stagecoats, great movies. When we got rid of it,
00:22:55.080 we got absolute trash like Friends. The way that it came about was that largely Catholic conservatives
00:23:02.440 convinced Hollywood to implement this code, and then Protestant America loved it. It was once
00:23:09.300 described as a Jewish-owned business selling Catholic theology to Protestant America, but it worked. It
00:23:13.980 was great, and we had good movies back then, and I would much rather have The Wizard of Oz and
00:23:18.700 Wuthering Heights and Gone with the Wind than Crap Like Friends. So listen, maybe we can learn from our
00:23:24.140 opponents, even if that opponent is China. Speaking of China, tomorrow is a really exciting day for the
00:23:29.300 Daily Wire because we will be releasing our new show, The Enemy Within. This docu-series features
00:23:35.380 acclaimed journalist and expert in national threats, Lee Smith. He uncovers just how far the CCP's
00:23:40.980 infiltration of America goes and a political coup orchestrated by ruling elites to generate their
00:23:46.140 own wealth and power at the expense of the American people's safety and freedom. Each episode will take
00:23:51.640 you deep into what's going on behind the scenes, what those who are supposed to be protecting you
00:23:56.680 don't want you to know. Check it out.
00:23:59.640 What if everything we think we know about our leaders, our society, and our relations with the rest of the world
00:24:06.580 is wrong?
00:24:11.540 America is facing two major challenges. One is the Chinese Communist Party. However, the most significant threat
00:24:19.200 comes from within. You're trying to obscure responsibility for four million people dying
00:24:25.540 around the world. Okay, Senator Paul, you do not know what you are talking about.
00:24:30.100 We've already seen evidence of how the elites want to run the United States. They're modeling
00:24:35.340 themselves after Chinese autocracy. For over a decade, the People's Republic of China
00:24:41.480 has stood publicly accused of acts of cruelty and wickedness that match the cruelty and wickedness
00:24:50.900 of many evil torturers and executioners.
00:24:56.040 Diane Feinstein had a Chinese spy as her driver for 20 years.
00:25:02.100 We're not talking about one person infiltrating senior levels at the CIA or the White House. We're talking about an entire elite class
00:25:12.000 throughout the political, corporate, academic, cultural, and media establishment.
00:25:17.440 My name is Lee Smith. I've been a journalist for more than 30 years. This is the most astonishing
00:25:24.400 espionage and infiltration operation in history. What you're going to see in this series will shock you.
00:25:33.440 This is The Enemy Within.

00:26:35.020 Speaking of authoritarian foreign governments, I know we're supposed to be worried about China.
00:26:46.960 We're supposed to be worried about Russia invading. I think Russia was supposed to invade Ukraine
00:26:50.500 yesterday. Who knows? I mean, Putin's still moving troops all around, but the predicted Wednesday
00:26:56.580 invasion of Ukraine did not occur as Joe Biden told us it would. But the authoritarian government
00:27:02.700 that I am most concerned about at the moment, I don't know if you've heard of it, it's called
00:27:06.220 Canada. It's a little closer to home than China or Russia. It's sometimes known as America's hat.
00:27:13.080 And Canada is really, really clamping down on civil liberties and Canadians' way of life.
00:27:20.500 They are, Justin Trudeau is invoking the Emergencies Act. This act allows him to basically suspend the
00:27:28.360 rule of law in Canada and go after people who are protesting, namely these truckers.
00:27:32.880 They're freezing the truckers' bank accounts. They're suspending movement, all sorts of the
00:27:37.220 suspending use of property. Really, really scary stuff. Well, the people at lower levels of power
00:27:44.600 in Canada and in the United States are teaming up to push back on this. U.S. governors and Canadian
00:27:50.580 premiers, kind of like the Canadian version of governors, have just signed a letter urging Joe Biden and
00:27:55.520 Justin Trudeau to drop the vaccine mandate for truckers. If you drop the vaccine mandate or if
00:28:01.080 you reinstitute exceptions to the vaccine mandate, then the trucker protest goes away. If you drop
00:28:07.340 this insistence that all of these guys take the Fauci ouchie, this experimental drug that doesn't
00:28:13.460 do what everyone told us that it was going to do to possibly protect against a virus that doesn't pose
00:28:19.100 a grave threat to most people, then if you just drop that, you get your supply chain back. You get
00:28:24.000 people to go back to their normal way of life. You've got now two premieres, 16 governors sent
00:28:30.200 this letter to the top levels of Canadian and U.S. leadership requesting a very simple thing.
00:28:35.620 Give us back the exemptions and you get your supply chains back. Right now, the institutional force,
00:28:45.340 the institutional power is all with the libs and with the mandates and with Joe Biden and Justin Trudeau.
00:28:52.740 Right. The media, the universities, the big tech platforms, the woke corporations, the government,
00:28:59.160 everything, all the institutional power is with the mandates. The people are against the mandates and
00:29:07.580 the people still have a little bit of power in Canada, in the United States as well. And the greatest
00:29:13.620 evidence of this is that it's not just conservatives coming out against this stuff.
00:29:18.200 It's not just the right that's coming out against the government and the political establishment that's
00:29:28.820 going at the truckers. Even Ilhan Omar, a radical leftist by the standards of our government,
00:29:36.340 member of the squad, the John Lennon of the squad, is coming out against this. And in a way,
00:29:44.200 in favor of the truckers, in a way, she was responding yesterday on Twitter to a journalist
00:29:52.380 who came out and was exposing small business owners who had donated small amounts of money
00:29:58.080 to help the truckers. Ilhan Omar retweeted this leftist journalist and said,
00:30:03.700 I fail to see why any journalist felt the need to report on a shop owner making such an insignificant
00:30:11.160 donation rather than, I think probably other than, to get them harassed. It's unconscionable
00:30:18.380 and journalists need to do better. Credit where credit is due. Ilhan Omar is absolutely right.
00:30:24.860 100% right. This journalist, quote unquote journalist, is just acting as a political
00:30:31.100 operative to go after and using this journalist's institutional power to go after small business
00:30:37.480 owners who won't bow down to the government and the ruling regime in Canada and the United States
00:30:43.400 that's squashing these truckers and telling everyone they have to take this experimental drug.
00:30:48.560 Now, why is Ilhan Omar doing this? Is it because Ilhan Omar has had a moment of moral clarity?
00:30:54.860 Is it because Ilhan Omar is about to become a Republican? You're going to have Joe Manchin,
00:30:58.900 maybe he could become a Republican, Kyrsten Sinema, maybe, probably she's in it. And Ilhan Omar,
00:31:03.620 I don't think so. It actually makes perfect sense that Ilhan Omar would defend, at least sort of defend
00:31:10.880 the truckers and go after these lib journos who are just shilling for the regime. Why? Because Ilhan Omar
00:31:17.860 is a real leftist. She's a real old school leftist. What you are seeing right now
00:31:24.920 play out with the truckers issue is something you saw with Bernie Sanders decades ago on an issue like
00:31:33.600 immigration or even guns, which is the difference between the old left and the new left. The old
00:31:40.480 left, all of it is heavily influenced by Karl Marx, but the old left saw the big divisions in the
00:31:47.840 society. The big political question as one of class, the proletariat versus the ruling classes,
00:31:54.840 the bourgeoisie. The working class, the underclass, they weren't, the workers of the world were not
00:32:01.340 uniting. They were all mixed up in their divisions on race and things like that. And so they couldn't
00:32:06.720 unite and throw off the chains that enslaved them. The new left is much, much more focused on race
00:32:14.740 and sacks on all of these kind of nasty intersectional identity issues, right? That's
00:32:23.460 what they're focused on. Ilhan Omar, even Bernie Sanders will speak to both sides of the left right
00:32:30.640 now. But here, Ilhan is siding with the old left. This is why Bernie Sanders has been for almost all
00:32:36.060 of his career. He's a hypocrite and he'll contradict himself. And he's a slimy politician just like
00:32:40.940 anybody. So he'll sometimes go back on his promises. But for most of his career, Bernie
00:32:45.280 Sanders has been anti-immigration because he observes that immigration lowers the wages of
00:32:50.820 the working class disproportionately. It's a way for fat cat capitalist plutocrats to line their own
00:32:56.180 pockets and not have to pay such high wages to workers. And who gets screwed? It's the little guy.
00:33:01.700 So Bernie has been generally an immigration restrictionist for his career, at least relative
00:33:06.160 to other people in his party. Well, now we're seeing this play out with Ilhan Omar. Ilhan Omar is
00:33:13.640 clearly reading the DCCC missives. She's clearly reading the Democrat playbook, which is saying,
00:33:19.340 guys, cut it out. Stop supporting all these radical, insane cultural issues. Just be culturally,
00:33:24.940 be kind of normal here, guys. It's a bad look when you're siding with plutocrats, with globalist elites
00:33:32.100 over truckers. Man, if you're the party of the workers and you're coming out against truckers who
00:33:37.620 are the lifeblood of the economy, who are moving goods from place to place, who are as blue collar
00:33:42.820 as blue collar gets, you're against them. It's really hard to say you're the party of the worker.
00:33:47.580 It's actually impossible. So Ilhan Omar, good on her. I mean, she made the right call here,
00:33:52.020 but really she's doing it from self-interest, her own personal political self-interest and the
00:33:56.000 self-interest of her party. Fortunately, the rest of her Democrat colleagues haven't really gotten the
00:34:01.780 memo. Even after the memo went out, they still don't seem to have gotten it.
00:34:08.220 The old left versus the new left, you're seeing a big political shift go on right now. It brings me to
00:34:12.920 a kind of more insider-y political story, but I do want to acknowledge it. The political writer,
00:34:18.680 the satirist P.J. O'Rourke died a couple of days ago. A lot of people, especially younger conservatives,
00:34:25.340 probably won't remember P.J. O'Rourke. P.J. O'Rourke got his start with National Lampoon.
00:34:30.280 A lot of younger listeners probably won't even know what that is. And so he was a comedy writer,
00:34:34.700 but he was really, he's shown in the realm of political satire. I used to read his stuff a lot,
00:34:40.880 especially when I was younger. He has a famous essay called How to Drive Fast on Drugs While
00:34:46.160 Getting Your Wing Wang Squeezed and Not Spill Your Drink. So he was talking about that kind of
00:34:50.960 Republican. He said, we're Republican Party reptiles. We're interested in kind of doing a lot
00:34:56.720 of drugs and going out. It's really sort of 1980s American psycho kind of conservatism,
00:35:02.860 if you want to call it that. It was really funny. He was a really tremendous writer.
00:35:07.080 You might call him the voice of a generation. Really, I think you could call P.J. O'Rourke
00:35:10.880 the voice of a generation of movement conservatives. And extremely talented,
00:35:16.340 and his essays still hold up and they're funny. But P.J. O'Rourke's perspective,
00:35:22.420 which was much more individualistic, do whatever you want, you know, drive fast on drugs while
00:35:27.180 getting your wing-wang squeezed and not spill your drink. That is not where the conservative
00:35:31.740 movement is now. And it's not where the GOP is now. And he knew it. I promise you, I'm not speaking
00:35:39.080 ill of the dead. I have a great deal of respect for P.J. O'Rourke. But he knew it. And he sort of
00:35:43.560 defected in his later years. He came out against Donald Trump in 2016. He said, I'm going to vote for
00:35:48.080 the Democrat. I'm going to vote for Hillary. And he even did that in a very funny way. He said,
00:35:52.260 he said, I endorse Hillary Clinton and all her pomp and all her empty promises. He's comparing her to
00:35:57.820 the devil in the baptism, right? And he's saying, she's the devil, but she's the devil I know. And
00:36:01.460 Trump is the devil that I don't know. And I'm not comfortable voting for him. He was much more
00:36:06.240 focused on, you know, let people do whatever they want. Let people keep their money, do whatever they
00:36:12.000 want. And I think that plays very well, especially in satire. But it's not where the conservative
00:36:17.780 movement is right now. And I think it's why he kind of pulled back from the right and the GOP and
00:36:22.640 the conservatives in the latter years of his life. And this is what you're seeing from the poll after
00:36:27.920 poll, the GOP on issues like immigration, from the DCCC playbook. That's not where we are. If
00:36:34.200 Republicans want to win. So I say that, I'll put a button on that. RIP, P.J. O'Rourke. I encourage
00:36:40.200 people, if you go back and read his essays, you're going to really enjoy it. He's very, very funny.
00:36:44.260 But there's a lesson here too from the past few years, which is about where is politics
00:36:49.700 going? If conservatives and Republicans want to win now, it's all about culture. And it's about
00:36:57.120 a little bit more than just do whatever you want. It's about what should we do? We're looking at a
00:37:02.620 society that is the product of do whatever you want for 50 years. Do whatever you want on the left
00:37:09.180 meant screw whoever you want and do whoever you want on the right meant screw whoever you want
00:37:15.140 economically. On the left, it meant literally. On the left, it was the sexual revolution. And if it
00:37:22.000 feels good, do it. And then on the right, what it meant was just ruthless competition, total
00:37:27.580 deregulation of everything. There's no such thing as the common good. Forget it when the founders are
00:37:33.000 talking about the general welfare. That's all crazy. We're just going to endorse, you know,
00:37:36.300 Ayn Rand, radical individualism, you know, greed is good. 1980s kind of semi-ironic, semi-earnest stuff.
00:37:44.940 And we're living in the culture now, a very selfish culture where the institutions that once held up
00:37:50.700 our society have almost all broken down. No one has any belief in them anymore. We don't even believe
00:37:56.400 in our elections. The Republicans haven't, well, they've disbelieved at least two elections in the past
00:38:03.040 20 or so years, right? They didn't believe in the 2000 election. Some didn't believe in the 2004
00:38:08.360 election. They certainly didn't believe in the 2016 election. And then Republicans don't believe in the
00:38:14.900 2020 election. You know, the one where they actually changed all the voting rules right beforehand.
00:38:19.600 Anyway, we don't believe in that. The family's broken down. Community's broken down. We don't know
00:38:24.280 what it means to be an American anymore. We don't have a common language. We don't have national
00:38:27.520 borders. We don't. What do we have? Well, that's the result of a country that doesn't pay any attention
00:38:31.960 to the common good and the common things, the things we hold in common. That's what republic
00:38:35.540 means, folks. It means the things that are held in common. Race publica, the stuff we've got together.
00:38:40.620 What do we have together? I don't know. We're going to need, we're going to need to answer that question.
00:38:46.220 If you're a conservative, you now need to answer not just what should we cut? What should we stop
00:38:52.640 paying attention to? What should we not revere? I think we've got to start answering, what should
00:38:56.740 we do? Not just what are our rights, but what are our duties? What are our obligations? What are the
00:39:03.140 sacrifices required of us to continue to have a country? What we are not is the party of the
00:39:12.440 squishes, if we want to win. Recently, Larry Hogan, who is the governor of Maryland, he was now running
00:39:18.860 for Senate, I guess, in Maryland. I don't know. I don't even pay attention to Larry Hogan. Larry
00:39:22.700 Hogan is a total squish, anti-Trump Republican. And I'm not saying, by the way, I'm not saying all
00:39:27.440 those things are synonymous. I think there was a kind of principled argument against Trump,
00:39:32.560 at least in the first election, when people thought he might be kind of a liberal and he
00:39:37.040 didn't really know exactly what he was doing. But I think just like Tim Miller and the Bulwark show us,
00:39:43.840 it was never really about Trump. It was about you. There was that great meme during the 2020
00:39:49.400 election where it was Trump sitting there. He said, they're not after me, they're after you.
00:39:52.820 I just happen to be in the way. And I think in many ways that's right. It's not just about Trump.
00:39:57.900 If you oppose transing the kids in schools, you're now considered a vile, terrible bigot,
00:40:03.100 worse than the orange man. And so anyway, Larry Hogan is one of those kinds of squishy conservatives.
00:40:07.780 He was on CNN, of course. He was on Jake Tapper's show. And Jake Tapper was typically insulting
00:40:14.820 Republicans and the conservative movement where the party is. And he said, so Larry,
00:40:19.760 Larry, are you considering running in 2024? And Larry Hogan, unbelievably able to keep a straight
00:40:26.300 face, says, well, I'm considering it. It's a nice video. It just lacked the Hogan 2024
00:40:31.920 banner at the bottom. Are you considering a presidential run? Well, we put out great videos
00:40:36.560 like that almost every week. That was taken from my state of the state address last week and it's
00:40:41.880 pretty well done. But like I said, I'm going to run through the tape as governor until January of next
00:40:46.580 year. I'm going to try to be the very best governor I can be. I'm going to continue to stand up and be
00:40:51.440 a voice. I'm not going to sit back and not be involved in the issues of the day. I'm concerned
00:40:55.900 about the direction of the party in the country. And I'll make a decision about 2024 after I finish this
00:41:00.980 job. So you are considering it? Well, so we're certainly going to take a look at it after January of 23.
00:41:05.280 What makes you think that there's a lane for a moderate-ish, blue state, anti-Trump,
00:41:13.700 sane Republican like you when you look at your party right now?
00:41:17.180 Well, you know, I consider myself a common sense conservative. I have been a lifelong
00:41:20.800 Republican. I believe that that's where most people in America are. About 70 percent of the
00:41:26.260 people in America are completely frustrated with politics on both sides, Republicans and Democrats.
00:41:31.000 And latest CNN poll came out and said, you know, right now, only 50 percent of the Republicans
00:41:36.660 would like to see Donald Trump run again. I believe that there is a pretty large lane of
00:41:41.540 sane Republicans and they're looking for a voice.
00:41:45.560 Hogan 2024. Are you in? Are you in with Larry? I don't think anybody is. I don't even know if Larry
00:41:51.420 is in with Larry. Larry Hogan, the kind of liberal, squishy Republican from Maryland,
00:41:59.440 he is floating a 2024 presidential campaign. He's doing it, of course, on CNN because that's
00:42:06.040 where his audience is. His audience is not on the Daily Wire. His audience is not, his constituents are
00:42:11.580 not at the Blaze or Fox News or Newsmax or OAN. They're not there. They're on CNN. And so he goes on CNN
00:42:18.200 and Jake Tapper besmirches his ostensible constituents and colleagues and party,
00:42:24.000 the conservatives and the Republicans. He says, they're insane, aren't they? And Larry Hogan says,
00:42:28.140 oh yeah, well, look, I think there's, I think people want a sane Republican, okay, like me. They
00:42:32.320 want a moderate person who's really squishy, who's just going to possibly cut your taxes. That's what
00:42:36.440 they want, don't they? No. No, they don't. They don't. I think 70 percent of America, I think the
00:42:44.020 majority of America, just, they're basically just Chamber of Commerce Republicans. No,
00:42:47.700 nobody's a Chamber of Commerce Republican. There are like seven of them in the whole country.
00:42:53.600 Do you know where the majority of Republicans are? Actually, I'm sorry, the majority of Americans,
00:42:58.740 the overwhelming majority of Republicans, but the majority of Americans,
00:43:01.440 they want to stop legal immigrants from coming into this country. Forget illegal,
00:43:06.160 obviously they don't want those, but illegal immigrants too. That is considered a far right
00:43:10.720 fringe position by people like Larry Hogan. That's where the majority of Americans are.
00:43:16.600 I don't think the majority of Americans, do you know where the majority of Americans are on
00:43:20.760 transing the bathrooms and transing the kids in elementary? They're saying, no, get this crap out
00:43:25.820 of our schools. But the moderate Republicans are saying, oh no, no, well, let's, listen, we need to
00:43:29.980 be open-minded. Maybe, maybe we should mutilate children. I don't know. Asa Hutchinson, you remember,
00:43:35.060 he's another squished Republican in Arkansas. He said, look, we need to allow parents to kind of make
00:43:42.220 these decisions with doctors. If they want to trans their kids, that's fine. We need to let the,
00:43:46.660 even, even Christy Noem, she's since reversed course on this, but even Christy Noem up in South Dakota
00:43:51.020 was, was for letting men compete against women in college sports. The vast majority of Americans
00:43:56.920 think this stuff is completely insane. I, the, the conventional elite wisdom, wisdom, quote unquote,
00:44:04.160 the wisdom of our world, the wisdom of our age is telling us that there's a huge appetite in America
00:44:12.380 for just cut my taxes and let the corporations do whatever they want and don't have anything to say
00:44:18.520 about virtue or nationhood or citizenship or what our country is. Nobody wants that. Nobody, no,
00:44:24.860 there is not, the only people who will benefit from Larry Hogan 2024 are the predatory campaign
00:44:30.220 consultants who will bilk a bunch of completely out of touch, squish billionaires, center, right,
00:44:37.320 leave me alone, just cut my taxes, billionaires out of a lot of money or, or even a hundred millionaires
00:44:42.260 or 10 millionaires, depending on how good a pitch Larry Hogan can make. And they'll make, they'll pay
00:44:46.760 themselves. These consultants will make nice six figure salaries and then Larry Hogan will give up.
00:44:52.500 This is not, listen to the Democrats folks. Listen, not only to your constituents,
00:44:57.900 listen to your opponents who are telling you where the wins really are. I don't, I don't want to hear
00:45:04.640 about, listen, we just need to, we just need to get along. We just, we need to stop being so,
00:45:10.100 so forceful and aggressive in our political maneuvers. We need to stop, we need to stop being
00:45:14.660 so cultural. Here's what I want to hear about. Here's what I want to hear about. Donald Trump said
00:45:20.360 that the Democrats spied on him when he was a candidate and when he was the president.
00:45:25.080 All the squishes laughed at him and they all went on CNN and they all mocked him and they all opposed
00:45:30.760 him. And then it turned out it was completely true. Clinton associates, Hillary Clinton associates
00:45:35.700 spied on Donald Trump at Trump Tower, at his campaign and at the executive office of the
00:45:42.500 president. This is a major, major crime. We know this from John Durham's report, the DOJ. Now we have
00:45:49.220 found out that the Biden campaign has hired the same firm that did the same spying on Donald Trump
00:45:55.700 as president. The Biden campaign paid this cybersecurity firm, seems like the opposite of
00:46:01.060 cybersecurity, $20,000. The only two presidential campaigns that this firm has ever gotten paid for
00:46:07.280 or paid by rather are the Clinton campaign and the Biden campaign. I want to look into that.
00:46:13.220 I will not support a presidential candidate who does not promise to get to the bottom of that,
00:46:21.120 to look into that. Yeah, good. Cut my taxes. I do. I want you to cut my taxes, but yeah, sure.
00:46:25.780 Yeah, okay. Get some good trade deals. I want to root out this rank political corruption because our
00:46:31.840 opponents are running roughshod over our political order, not just the issues, but the order, the
00:46:39.140 institutions, the power centers, and we're not doing very much about it. Who is still working with the
00:46:44.240 cybersecurity firm? What campaigns? I want to know the names of those campaigns. What levels are they
00:46:49.040 at? Are we talking about Congress? Are we talking about Senate? Is Joe Biden still working with this
00:46:52.980 campaign? I want to find out. I want to subpoena the people who are working with this campaign. I want
00:46:56.880 to find out what they knew and when they knew it. I want names and I want accountability.
00:47:03.060 The White House is completely stonewalling. So occasionally you'll have a real question asked in the
00:47:07.680 White House briefing room. The deputy press secretary, Corrine Jean-Pierre, was asked this
00:47:12.720 question. She said, no, no, nothing to see here. La, la, la. Go talk to the DOJ.
00:47:16.720 This news is about the Durham investigation. Does the president have any concerns about a candidate
00:47:22.880 for president using computer experts to infiltrate computer systems of competing candidates or even the
00:47:30.280 president-elect to use for the goal of creating a narrative? Is that something that-
00:47:35.040 That's something I can't speak to from this podium, so I refer you to the Department of Justice.
00:47:39.080 Is what was described in that report monitoring internet traffic, is that spying?
00:47:45.220 Again, I can't speak to that report. I refer you to the Department of Justice.
00:47:49.480 Generally speaking, with monitoring internet traffic-
00:47:52.080 Jackie, my answer is not going to change.
00:47:53.640 I refer you to the Department of Justice. I can't speak to that from here.
00:47:56.680 La, la, la, la, la. Talk to the Department of Justice. La, la, la, la, la. I can't hear you.
00:48:01.640 Okay, Corrine, you won't tell us. How about you, Jen Psaki? What's going on? What about this
00:48:05.520 huge, probably the most egregious political scandal in our nation's history? You guys were
00:48:10.580 even working with the firm. You got anything to say about it?
00:48:13.280 Do you know if there's still a system picking up server data on the EOP, and if not, when it stopped?
00:48:20.500 Again, I know you asked my colleague a few questions about this the other day,
00:48:23.880 but I would point you, any questions about this, to the Department of Justice.
00:48:27.040 And then, is what was described in the filing there, monitoring internet traffic,
00:48:32.460 is that, generally speaking, would that be considered something along the lines of spying?
00:48:37.180 Again, I would point you to the Department of Justice.
00:48:40.140 Same answer. They talk to the lawyers, they're workshopping this, they're sticking to their
00:48:44.660 script, okay, because they know that the Republicans have these Democrats dead to rights. There's a
00:48:50.300 benefit here for the Biden campaign, which is that Biden is extremely unpopular.
00:48:53.520 Hillary is being floated as a candidate, so I think they're fine to throw Hillary under the
00:48:56.820 bus. But they're implicated, too, because they worked with this firm as well. They know that
00:49:02.000 their views are unpopular. They know that their record is very, very unpopular. They've got no
00:49:08.780 good answer on this. The only way that they think that they're going to win here is by stonewalling,
00:49:13.520 gaslighting, and cheating. So they're going to say, la, la, la, la, la, stop it, stop pushing,
00:49:18.460 stop pushing. That's how you know we are right over the target, got to keep pushing harder.
00:49:21.480 I'm Michael Knowles. This is The Michael Knowles Show. See you tomorrow.

00:50:15.540 Today on The Matt Wall Show, some leaked audio from a queer inclusive presentation at a major
00:50:20.800 education conference reveals exactly what our kids are being subjected to at school,
00:50:24.780 both public and private schools, by the way. Also, some college students are now protesting to
00:50:28.820 demand that mask mandates remain in place, but why do they need a mandate? Can't they just wear their
00:50:34.200 masks if they want to? And a major racism scandal at a school in Illinois, but I have some questions
00:50:38.740 about it. Plus, BLM bails out the activists who tried to assassinate a mayoral candidate in Louisville,
00:50:44.320 and in our daily cancellation, Disney is now branching out beyond movies and shows and theme
00:50:48.420 parks and now will be running entire towns, communities where you can go and live every
00:50:53.080 day of your life in Disney's dystopia. But why in God's name would anybody want to do that?
00:50:57.720 We'll talk about that and much more today on The Matt Wall Show.
