00:00:00.040 Hey guys, Wyatt Claypool here, and welcome back to the National Telegraph YouTube channel.
00:00:06.340 I don't know why today, of all days, Prime Minister Mark Carney decided to call three of the seven summer by-elections,
00:00:13.860 because right now the Liberals are not doing so hot in the current news cycle,
00:00:18.820 due to a combination of the embarrassing Gordie Howe bridge deal that Carney tried and failed to cover up,
00:00:24.600 as well as just the generally listless strategy the Liberals have for trying to get a trade deal with Trump and the Americans.
00:00:33.020 In just a second, I want to show you a new video that the Conservatives just posted a bit ago
00:00:38.160 to just demonstrate how open season it is currently on the Carney Liberals.
00:00:42.920 But the three current by-elections that Carney has just called are Beaches East York, Chikutimi Le Fjord, and North Vancouver Capilano.
00:00:52.040 Now, in theory, two of these are safe liberal ridings, and one of them is going to be a toss-up not just between the conservatives and the liberals, but the conservatives, the liberals, and the bloc.
00:01:03.900 This is the seat where a Conservative MP accepted Carney's offer to go be a senator, and obviously he strategically picked out this riding because the Conservatives only won it with 33 or 32% of the vote in 2025, with the Bloc and the Liberals both having around 30% of the vote.
00:01:22.760 so that is going to be an extremely tough battle coming up for all the parties involved but the
00:01:29.120 other two supposedly safe ridings are not actually that safe when you give them a closer look not
00:01:35.140 that the liberals won't win them but they're not going to win them by the large margins that they
00:01:39.960 won back in 2025 and they do have a chance of losing at least one of them but we will be getting
00:01:46.440 into that in just a second here first let's go over to the video i promised to play this is from
00:01:51.940 the Conservatives critic for Canada-US relations, Shavloy Majumdar, who's been doing a great job by
00:01:58.820 my estimation on this file. He's properly firm and oppositional on the Liberals, but knows how
00:02:04.880 to phrase stuff so that the media cannot take him out of context and say, oh, you're just cheering
00:02:09.300 on Trump beating the Liberals. You just want us to be humiliated. He's really keeping focused on
00:02:15.360 Carney is a weakling, and it doesn't matter how much tough rhetoric he uses domestically when it
00:02:20.960 comes to dealing with America, he is a terrible negotiator and gets taken advantage of constantly.
00:02:27.260 My government will keep our tariffs on until the Americans show us respect.
00:02:33.420 By removing all of Canada's tariffs on U.S. goods, we are in the midst of a rupture in auto
00:02:39.860 transit. As President Trump and I agreed last week, we'll sit down immediately following the
00:02:44.760 election to find areas of common ground and agreement. We agreed to recommence our negotiations
00:02:50.740 with a view to the 21st of July deadline.
00:02:55.300 Prime Minister Carney in Canada caved to President Trump in the United States of America.
00:03:00.160 Many of our former strengths, based on our close ties to America, have become our weaknesses.
00:03:06.060 It's in Canada's interest, in our joint interests, to be stronger together.
00:03:10.680 You cannot live within the lie of mutual benefit through integration
00:03:15.420 when integration becomes the source of your subordination.
00:03:20.740 Canada remains open to deeper integration.
00:03:23.880 We are sharing.
00:03:24.940 I hope and I'm going to let this whole thing play because I think it's very well edited together.
00:03:28.660 I didn't even know some of these clips existed of him like using some pretty strong anti-American rhetoric and then completely reversing himself, you know, just sometimes weeks or even months or even weeks later.
00:03:42.360 But this should be used by the conservatives in all of the by-elections.
00:03:47.020 They should be running this ad in Beaches, East York.
00:03:49.900 They should be running at North Vancouver, Capilano, and they should have some version of this in French that they're running in Chikotimi, Le Fjord. 0.94
00:03:57.600 Chikotimi, they really need to win back. 0.96
00:03:59.420 Polioff should just be barnstorming that riding constantly. 1.00
00:04:02.440 He should also be focusing on the other two.
00:04:04.520 Yes, Beaches East York is not conservative territory.
00:04:07.360 Conservatives will not win it, but we're going to get into a second here why the conservatives should still try.
00:04:13.060 Now, I think that conservatives should just rip the hinges off the doors in every single by-election that comes up.
00:04:18.220 It doesn't matter if you only got 3% last election, show we've gone from 3% to 9% or 3% to 12%.
00:04:24.120 If you were at 14%, try and get 24%.
00:04:27.400 You know, I think it's a good look that, hey, it doesn't matter if we're losing.
00:04:30.900 We are chipping away at them in this attritional war that we're fighting against the liberals.
00:04:35.360 But this, I think, is an actual ad that a lot of the elbows-up default liberal voters really can't ignore
00:04:43.340 because there's a certain cognitive dissonance going on inside the liberal party
00:04:47.320 where at the same time, Mark Carney ran on extremely militant anti-American language.
00:04:53.520 He has not reflected any of that since he was he's been prime minister after the 25 election.
00:04:59.980 After Canada is paid back.
00:05:02.660 So we get the revenues, then the servicing of the cost of the bridge and paying the debt of the bridge.
00:05:09.080 And then what's left over is a split of that for 15 years.
00:05:13.340 now no you'll remember he then blamed having said all those things because oh well i misspoke or i
00:05:19.920 wasn't clear enough because i was at stampede and i was wearing a cowboy hat apparently the cowboy
00:05:24.700 hat told him to lie because that's the reverse of what the deal is we get some maintenance costs
00:05:30.240 and then the revenues are split after that that is the only thing that canada gets extra out of
00:05:34.880 the tolls is maintenance costs which are like nothing when you first open a bridge there's
00:05:40.760 going to be very little maintenance costs for a brand new bridge in the first 15 years oh we also
00:05:45.920 get snow removal wow we get snow removal guys what is that going to be like one percent of the
00:05:50.320 bridges revenues probably not even that and yeah could i have explained it better uh on a sunday
00:05:55.760 morning at stampede yeah with a cowboy hat on yes i can explain it better secondly thing that is true
00:06:01.940 is we have the best deal with the americans and the third thing that's true is we will get an even
00:06:06.840 better deal you imputed something in what i said which is you said my positivity about gay
00:06:12.840 i didn't say that i said that's what we want we can handle him we can handle donald trump
00:06:19.640 canada strong will help make america great again when was the last time you spoke to the president
00:06:28.600 really good work from the conservatives here i think this is a great way of prosecuting the case
00:06:34.040 Because, again, you need to be very careful in going after Carney in such a way where you are hitting him for failures without making it sound like you're pro-Trump.
00:06:44.080 Now, I'm saying this as someone who doesn't dislike Trump.
00:06:46.040 I like a lot of his policies.
00:06:47.200 Well, when it comes to Canadian politics and especially trade, one, I do not like his tariff policy at all.
00:06:53.380 Even if I was American, I wouldn't like it.
00:06:55.580 Tariffs do not make your country richer.
00:06:57.120 You use tariffs as a defense mechanism against actual foreign threats, like China, Iran, Russia, other kinds of countries that are trying to mess with you, you know, Qatar, Pakistan. 0.67
00:07:08.560 Those are the people that you tariff in order to sap their economic strength by not allowing them access to your market. 0.82
00:07:13.800 You are even willing to have slightly higher prices on certain goods by not trading with those people because they cannot be trusted.
00:07:20.200 That's what tariffs are for.
00:07:21.140 But in Canada, not only are tariffs not great for the economy of both Canada and America, that tariffs existing aren't great for us, but at the same time, you can't, like, yes, you have to be basically calling out that these tariffs are bad, but you also cannot become just part of the miasma of Team Canada that the liberals and many red Tories are advocating for,
00:07:48.300 that we should just be swinging behind the Canadian government and applauding all day.
00:07:51.940 No, that's foolish because you are co-signing their failure. At the same time, when you go
00:07:57.420 after their failure, you can't be too, as the party, like happy about Trump taking advantage
00:08:05.300 of Mark Carney. Obviously, we're not happy about it, but you can't sound gleeful in pointing out
00:08:10.740 that he's failing. You have to have an attitude of frustration and a little bit of farce of like,
00:08:16.080 what the heck is this guy doing he's saying this today and he's saying that tomorrow what is going
00:08:20.680 on here let's get him off the field this guy can't play that's the kind of like coach's mentality
00:08:26.200 the the conservatives need looking at Carney and the liberals playing this game and saying my 0.95
00:08:32.080 goodness these players suck getting in some new guys that's the way that the conservatives should
00:08:36.000 be phrasing stuff sorry if I ended up overly like analyzing that but that's it's it is a very 0.98
00:08:42.500 sensitive balance that you have to take as the opposition when this is such a rally around the
00:08:47.740 flag issue for many people. But the thing I want to now highlight is one of the big issues for the
00:08:55.200 Liberals in one of these upcoming by-elections. Now, Chikutimi-Lefior, any of the parties can win
00:09:00.360 it, any of the, you know, the Bloc, Liberals, Conservatives, they can all win it. Obviously,
00:09:04.600 there is a capacity for the Liberals to not win that riding. The Conservatives could also not win
00:09:09.100 back, but you understand the nuances there already. It's a super tight riding from multiple
00:09:14.900 different angles. But in Beaches, East York, which is supposed to be a 60% plus liberal riding,
00:09:22.280 the son of former NDP leader Jack Layton, Mike Layton, is considering running in Beaches,
00:09:29.680 East York for the federal NDP. Now, he has been elected as a city councillor in Toronto three
00:09:37.000 separate times, and he has never been defeated. His closest victory, he still got 54% of the vote
00:09:43.420 with like six or seven other opponents. His next two elections, he had like 89% of the vote one
00:09:49.380 time, and I think the other time was like 79%. Yes, that was not the same area, but that was
00:09:54.580 University Rosedale, an area where, you know, the liberals hold it federally, but obviously it shows
00:10:01.120 that Mike Layton has a strong amount of brand recognition as well as approval. And that's not
00:10:08.680 that different from Beaches East York. If anything, Beaches East York is more up the alley of someone
00:10:14.500 like Mike Layton because the NDP is a progressive, progressive left-wing party, and that is very much
00:10:20.660 the character of Beaches East York. University Rosedale is progressive liberal, but it's very
00:10:26.120 business progressive liberal beaches east york is like almost avi lewis country even avi lewis
00:10:33.420 there was some polling out there showing that if he is the leader of the ndp chose to run there
00:10:37.620 he actually had a not too bad shot of winning it despite the fact that the ndp only had like 11
00:10:43.320 percent of the vote in this riding back in 2025 and then in north vancouver capilano the liberals
00:10:49.540 are effectively just trying to jam in a staffer as their candidate that I guess they owe a bunch
00:10:56.460 of favors to. So I think it's Brendan Cayley or Brandon Cayley, I don't know. This Cayley guy
00:11:04.340 was just a deputy chief of staff for Mark Carney, and he's been on multiple liberal campaigns. He's
00:11:10.640 lived out east for probably over a decade now. His last job in BC was like a organizer and a manager
00:11:16.840 for uh gregor robertson back when he was the mayor of vancouver the guy's basically a political
00:11:23.340 animal who is now cashing out all of the work he's been doing from the inside to get himself
00:11:27.960 a free mp seat and we have the gordie howe bridge thing and we have the failures on trade
00:11:33.800 and the pipeline issue out west even though a lot of conservatives they don't trust carney on the
00:11:39.560 mou i don't trust carney on the mou i even think that danielle smith needs to be getting tougher
00:11:44.600 on it and demanding that the that the northwest uh route get put back on the table because we 1.00
00:11:50.040 need as many irons on the fire as possible if this thing is ever actually going to get complete
00:11:54.000 but that pipeline issue despite somewhat intriguing some conservatives some you know do not trust
00:12:00.680 carney some are maybe willing to trust carney on the left that sort of scenario is playing out
00:12:06.560 the same way where there's business liberals open to the idea of the pipeline they like the idea that
00:12:11.620 pipeline might get built but then there's the green left who hates the new pipeline like you
00:12:17.280 know like blue-haired college students hate getting a real job that is what is going on right now in
00:12:23.060 those sort of greater Vancouver area ridings a lot more support now for the NDP and a lot more
00:12:29.240 support for the greens because the liberals are being insufficiently left-wing when it comes to
00:12:34.100 environmental issues so that actually gives the conservative candidate Stephen Curran a like a
00:12:40.200 path through the middle because he got about 33, 36 percent of the vote in the last federal
00:12:46.220 election, which is not too bad considering the liberals are inevitably probably going to be
00:12:51.560 falling in this by-election since the Greens have put forward a credible candidate. The NDP is
00:12:56.600 obviously going to be probably putting forward a fairly likeable populist NDP type, and they're
00:13:02.660 just going to dump money into the riding. So if Stephen Curran can simply just take 80 percent of
00:13:07.820 the people who voted for him last time and get them to show up for the by-election, he could
00:13:11.720 easily win because turnouts are super low and you're going to get a lot of friction on the left
00:13:16.720 wing of the political spectrum in that riding. But now I need to, I want to talk about a couple
00:13:22.560 other issues that I don't think will come up if I make future videos. So I really liked this moment
00:13:28.000 on Ian Haneman Singh's show on CBC where Lisa Raitt pushed back on this stupid booze ban tactic 0.96
00:13:35.380 that many of the premiers are using in order to try and get, like, I guess, counter concessions 1.00
00:13:41.080 out of the Americans, force them to make a better deal with us. The whole thing is delusional. And
00:13:46.660 Lisa Raitt does a really good job summing it up. Because in theory, counter tariffs, product bans 1.00
00:13:53.040 from the United States, that could, in theory, force the Trump administration to the table. But
00:13:57.800 as Lisa Raitt points it out here, it's not nearly impactful enough to be anything but an irritant.
00:14:02.540 The provincial alcohol ban seemed to become an irritant to many in the states.
00:14:07.100 And so I'm in a province, British Columbia, where the premier, as you know, said, I think a quote is, there's no chance in hell that B.C. is going to lift that ban on U.S. liquor on the provincial store shelves.
00:14:19.700 How important do you think those alcohol bans are in terms of providing some leverage for Canada?
00:14:26.540 I don't know if it's leverage.
00:14:28.580 Let me put it that way.
00:14:29.780 I don't think that the Americans are saying we're going to give you something in return for putting our liquor back on your shelves.
00:14:36.980 I think it's more of an irritant to them that it's actually happening.
00:14:40.320 And the problem is, is that, again, despite the elbows up stances of premiers like Doug Ford and Wob Canoe and Susan Holt and David Eby, the thing is that they're not willing to actually engage in horse trading in order to get something.
00:14:58.120 They're just saying, I'm banning booze, and you better give us everything we want, or else we're not putting it back on the shelves.
00:15:06.320 It's like, that is too much of an ask, or too small of an irritant.
00:15:10.900 So what Lisa Raitt's then describing here is that drives Republicans and Democrats to think, well, they're retaliating against us and not giving us anything to get the tariffs off, and they're hurting our booze business, so let's hit them even harder and see if we can get them to move.
00:15:26.880 it's like in the sense that you're not drawing you're not hurting the americans enough for them
00:15:32.320 to actually want to give you anything because you're also not asking for anything proportional
00:15:36.940 in return to put the booze back on the shelves that's the problem we think just having the booze
00:15:42.160 off the shelves will eventually cause like trump to come hat in hand and say i'll give you whatever
00:15:47.060 you want just put the kentucky bourbon back on the shelves and it's been going on for a while
00:15:52.220 this is nothing new. The Americans have been extremely upfront and clear and vocal.
00:15:57.260 And here's where it became, I think, dangerous. It's when the Republicans and the Democrats
00:16:02.380 found themselves on the same side of an issue, both of them complaining about not being able
00:16:07.580 to access Canada, and that it was discriminatory that everybody else got to sell their liquor in
00:16:13.020 Canada, but the United States were specifically told they couldn't. And that's the hook into this
00:16:18.060 Section 338 tariff. Democrats in California are worried that they can't get California wines into
00:16:24.500 eight of the provinces here in the country. And at the same time, the stuff that you heard before
00:16:29.520 about Kentucky bourbon still holds true. That's a complaint as well. But like I said, when you
00:16:34.260 got both parties looking and going, huh, what's going on up there? Then you're going to end up
00:16:39.140 with a situation where we have right now. As I said, I don't think telling them that we're going
00:16:44.340 to allow you to sell liquor in Canada again is anything that levers anything out of the United
00:16:50.180 States. I think it's an irritant that actually causes them to do the kinds of things that they're
00:16:55.680 doing right now. And I think she's right because it's too much of a pinprick and it's too much of
00:17:01.520 a pinprick that is being then paired by this ridiculous ask where we want all the tariffs off
00:17:07.340 or the Kentucky bourbon isn't going back on. It's like, okay, America has too much of an ability to
00:17:12.380 export their products elsewhere. Yes, are they not going to get as good of a deal on many of
00:17:16.860 these products by not exporting to Canada? Yes, they won't. But they can deal with these tariffs
00:17:22.500 better than we can deal with these tariffs. Because if the US decided to just put a tariff
00:17:28.120 without even having to ban it, just putting a tariff on Canadian alcoholic products going
00:17:31.860 into their country, it would decimate our industries. Because in a place like British 1.00
00:17:36.200 Columbia, we send three times more product over the border to the United States than they send
00:17:41.460 over the border into British Columbia. So it ends up actually causing the Americans could
00:17:48.380 actually then match that particular action that Canada's taken for almost like around a year now
00:17:53.660 and just hammer that industry. But at the same time, our original action is not doing even
00:18:01.000 nearly as much damage as we think it's doing. And again, if we had taken the booze off the
00:18:06.180 shelves in some of these provinces and those premiers got together and said hey if you have
00:18:11.240 or you get rid of the tariffs on one of the particular products that we want the tariffs
00:18:16.360 taken off of we could maybe accomplish that but our people suck at negotiating they just like
00:18:21.920 take retaliatory actions act obstinate and then secretly give concessions on the side that
00:18:28.200 Canadians don't find out about for like weeks well I don't even it's you can't even wrap your
00:18:33.300 mind around it people like david eby and like doug ford are talking about like smashing america and
00:18:37.840 like having all the provinces unite and destroying the american economy because he for some reason
00:18:42.500 thinks that canada has that power now i'm a patriotic canadian i just know that that's just
00:18:47.240 not going to happen i'm sorry but but they talk super super tough like like my usual analogy that 0.94
00:18:53.600 they want to or my usual stupid example that they that they want to go down to america on 0.99
00:18:58.820 to Washington, D.C. on the back of a leopard tank and slap Trump across the face and say, 0.99
00:19:03.900 you better take all the tariffs off or else, I don't know, we're going to keep Kentucky bourbon
00:19:08.680 off the shelves. And so you better do it or that's going to continue. It's like that's not a good
00:19:13.820 enough pitch. If you said, hey, we will put all your stuff back on the shelves if the softwood
00:19:19.200 lumber tariff is eliminated, you might actually be able to get that. But no, no realistic goals
00:19:24.540 are allowed in Canadian politics right now, except from the Conservatives, Danielle Smith and Scott
00:19:29.940 Moe. Anyways, now I just quickly want to move on to a clip from a Juno News show, actually.
00:19:40.180 I felt this was, I'm going to be honest, a really bad interview. There was this interview that went
00:19:46.380 on the other day on Juno News with the host Harrison Faulkner interviewing former Alberta
00:19:51.920 Premier Jason Kenney and a conservative strategist named Anthony Koch who I've mentioned here and
00:19:58.420 there over the past couple of weeks due to the Red Tory attacks on Pierre Polyev. This is what
00:20:04.340 the Red Tories sort of view on policy should be. Many of these people don't call themselves Red
00:20:09.840 Tories. They would reject the label. They're Red Tories. They believe in big government conservatism
00:20:15.180 and being kind of mindlessly nationalistic about Canada to the point where we are supposedly not
00:20:21.500 allowed to criticize, or it's not smart for us to criticize our own government, even as they are
00:20:26.240 messing up trade negotiations and the Gordie Howe bridge deal. Check out this. I find it passing
00:20:32.920 strange that the federal conservative party seems to have made a habit out of criticizing explicitly
00:20:38.680 or implicitly the decisions and leadership or direction of actual conservative provincial
00:20:44.720 governments who actually win elections. I mean, this is much broader than they totally
00:20:51.120 irresponsible low-grade political war between doug ford's progressive conservative party of ontario
00:20:57.040 and pierre paulia's conservative party of canada that which in itself totally unacceptable i mean
00:21:04.560 look i i i i who started it by the way like they'll say it was andrew shearer who started
00:21:12.160 back in 2019 because he didn't want doug ford campaigning with him that's not him attacking
00:21:17.680 Doug Ford. He just didn't want to tour with Doug Ford, because at that time, Doug Ford had a very
00:21:22.600 low approval rating, and that was just political calculus by Andrew Scheer. But since then,
00:21:27.820 the reason conservatives, federal conservatives, have a problem with Doug Ford's very progressive,
00:21:34.460 low, like very quiet conservative party, the reason why they don't like them is because they
00:21:40.140 are effectively federal liberal allies. And just because the name has conservative in it
00:21:45.680 doesn't mean that they're going to simply just be nice to them. If you are carrying water for first
00:21:52.360 the Trudeau liberals and now the Carney liberals, why would the federal conservatives have nice
00:21:57.080 things to say about you? And they don't even attack them. They just kind of ignore them
00:22:00.900 because they are not politically friendly with the feds. But apparently we're all supposed to
00:22:07.080 bow down in front of Doug Ford because he wins elections against other hacky liberals. He himself
00:22:13.300 is a hacky liberal beating the liberals and NDP, not because he's a strong, tough conservative, 0.99
00:22:19.200 it's because they suck at campaigning. There's no difference between the Ontario PCs and the 0.88
00:22:25.840 Ontario liberals. In fact, when you look at certain Ontario liberal leadership candidates
00:22:29.840 like Eric Lombardi, even though I'm not really a fan of him overall, because he is still a
00:22:34.440 progressive, he is still a lefty on many, many issues. He's to the right of Doug Ford on specific
00:22:39.600 issues like immigration and like certain areas around corporate subsidies and whatnot.
00:22:46.080 It's in madness that we are for some reason supposed to simply bow before whoever wins
00:22:51.700 an election.
00:22:52.840 No, Doug Ford is not a conservative.
00:22:55.020 No, our provincial allies in some areas should not be simply just like followed because they
00:23:01.180 win.
00:23:01.940 I'm sorry, I want conservatism with my election victories, not simply an election victory
00:23:06.400 with nothing on top.
00:23:08.140 I'm sure I agree with both of you guys and many conservatives in Ontario, that in many respects, the government there has been a disappointment on a conservative policy matrix.
00:23:21.060 But electorally, electorally, Premier Ford has won three majority governments in a row, wrecking the Ontario Liberal Party.
00:23:31.940 What is this?
00:23:33.340 But this is the entire interview.
00:23:34.820 I've seen the interview.
00:23:35.800 The whole thing is basically chastising the poly of conservatives for being oppositional to the federal liberals on their terrible trade policy, their terrible trade strategy.
00:23:47.400 Apparently, we're, again, supposed to stand around clapping for Carney because he represents Canada in some abstract way up against Donald Trump and the Americans.
00:23:56.180 No. And what's their actual – what do you do then?
00:23:59.540 What's your winning strategy if you think that you know how to win elections?
00:24:02.880 Okay, we're not going to criticize the liberals on trade.
00:24:05.800 Now what? And the entire interview is almost them all repeatedly capitulating on just politics in general, acting as if liberals play with the cheat codes on and conservatives can't win by being conservative.
00:24:20.840 Liberals can do whatever they want, and they're excused by the Canadian electorate.
00:24:24.240 And yes, there's a lot more forgiveness for liberals, but all these people want Pierre Paulyev replaced.
00:24:30.320 And with what? Because as I hear them talk, I'm hearing nothing.
00:24:34.760 well we should replace them with conservatives that win what you know like Doug Ford where even
00:24:39.660 if they won what really what real difference would it make if you had a federal government
00:24:44.320 controlled by Doug Ford instead of Mark Carney it would be like stylistic differences at that
00:24:50.120 and my friend Brian Breguet here I thought did a really good summation of what I had a problem
00:24:56.280 with in this video and Brian Breguet here said I genuinely do not understand this point of view
00:25:04.480 quote yes we agree ford has been disappointing regarding conservative policies but he wins the
00:25:10.180 gta if the only way to win the gta is to be a liberal then the liberal should just win seriously
00:25:16.620 the only difference if the conservatives win is who gets the contracts and corrupt uh corruption
00:25:22.460 benefits since it isn't me me either since it isn't me either me i'd prefer to uh the true
00:25:29.900 liberals to win rather than the mercenary ones. And so basically his point here is that if you
00:25:36.100 are effectively seeded the idea that you must be liberal to win Canadian elections and small
00:25:41.860 government conservatism is bad, conservative influencers and creators are bad, you know,
00:25:48.540 having any agreement with Donald Trump's Republicans in the United States on other
00:25:53.740 policies is bad. Well, what's the point of even running in elections if we are just going to
00:25:58.720 meekly accept the idea that Canada is liberal, and therefore we need to become more like the
00:26:04.760 liberals. We need to cheer the liberals in government on. We need people like Jason
00:26:08.980 Kenney or Doug Ford or Mark Mulroney to lead our party because they can abstractly win,
00:26:15.720 even though we tried this before with Aaron O'Toole, and he lost. Canadians don't want
00:26:20.380 a liberal party or a conservative party that basically acts like the liberals.
00:26:24.700 I will even contend that in 2025 conservatives failed to win because on so many issues they weren't that dissimilar from the liberals and that really hurts your turnout when people can't really tell why you're so much better.
00:26:38.240 It doesn't matter if you're better. You have to be so much better for people to turn out, or else who shows up and votes for a 7%, a 3% improvement on certain files. They want things to be remarkably better. They want a massive tax cut, not a slightly better tax cut than what the Liberals are offering.
00:26:56.440 but this has been annoying me so much seeing all these red tories go around hacking on
00:27:01.880 pure poly of oh he can't win he's he's too oppositional canadians think he's too much
00:27:09.080 like trump ergo we need to just basically become like the liberals and these people are advocating
00:27:15.200 that what we call like the trump conservatives need to be like excommunicated out of the
00:27:22.660 Conservative Party. Sorry if this is getting a bit rambly, but there's a lot of kind of like
00:27:26.580 sort of slightly disconnected topics that are still related, just in the fact that
00:27:34.180 Conservatives kind of need to be focused on the right things right now. And there's this
00:27:37.940 big group of people who wants us to not stay focused on the task at hand.
00:27:42.820 Shavloy, Polyev are doing a really good job on trade right now. But for some reason,
00:27:47.720 and there's this growing louder chorus of people telling us to basically give up the game and stop
00:27:53.500 trying, stop being oppositional. And yet these people somehow know how to be a better opposition
00:27:58.100 than the current poly of conservatives. Spencer Fernando here, who actually genuinely used to
00:28:03.800 kind of like, but he's turned into just kind of a conservative naysayer. He says, what the CPC must
00:28:10.180 now do is ensure that Trumpism is pushed out of the party entirely and ensure that the patriotic
00:28:16.360 pro-candidate perspective decisively wins within the party. It must cut ties with the pro-Trump
00:28:21.700 influencers entirely. It must call out the Trump administration following the examples of leaders
00:28:26.960 like Stephen Harper, Doug Ford, and Jason Kenney. It must work at the grassroots level to ensure
00:28:31.460 Trumpism does not embed itself in local party organizations and must ensure that pro-Trump
00:28:36.880 candidates do not win local nominations. What are we even talking about pro-Trump? I don't know a
00:28:41.820 conservative alive who's happy about tariffs. No one wants that. The thing that people want though
00:28:47.060 is for Mark Carney to actually, you know, stop sucking at his job, stop being oppositional to
00:28:53.580 America without even getting any trade wins. That's the problem. And I think that Jasmine
00:28:59.940 Lane summed up the problem with this perspective quite well. She says, who painted Canadian
00:29:05.480 conservatives as trump mega liberals now they have a new brilliant strategy demand they remove the
00:29:12.160 label that was never based in reality to begin with the best part they can't show a single
00:29:16.800 actual problem to fix no policy no vote no comparison just a label they invented to win
00:29:22.000 an election paired with you're not a patriot unless you disprove a smear that they made up
00:29:26.640 in the first place ps conservatives have been team canada since before it was trending on your feed
00:29:32.460 They just want you to forget that it was the Liberals who called anyone waving a Canadian flag a radical up until a year ago.
00:29:38.840 They wanted you to forget that it was the Liberals who declared Canada post-national state, and now they want you to forget who our real enemies are.
00:29:46.100 Friendly reminder, 85% of trade is tariff-free.
00:29:49.080 96% of the 42% of businesses who want to leave Canada because of Liberal policies have tariff-free trade.
00:29:55.660 80-90% of manufacturers say a U.S. trade deal is the most important thing for Canada's economy.
00:30:01.240 liberals are incredibly good at redefining things to suit their narrative like how they now redefine
00:30:06.480 criticizing the government as trumpian or anti-canda don't you dare let them redefine what
00:30:11.440 it means to be a patriot so jasmine they're saying it much better than i have honestly so far in this
00:30:16.760 video i hate this idea that somehow being a full orthodox uh conservative right now is being viewed
00:30:25.060 as anti-patriotic and you're not sophisticated and you can't win because you're not willing to
00:30:31.040 basically try and co-opt the liberals elbows up brand for yourself i'm sorry the elbows up brand 0.99
00:30:39.360 is stupid and i don't care if it's politically effective for the liberals one it's not going to 0.97
00:30:45.020 be politically effective for the conservatives if you just try and rotely copy them and two 1.00
00:30:49.300 it's based on a lie that we are somehow being like uh somehow we're being exploited by the u.s
00:30:55.680 by trading with them so much. And this tariff threat has now become like the last straw and
00:31:01.160 we must break away from them. I always thought the elbows up thing was stupid. And you know it's 1.00
00:31:05.720 irrational because the Carney liberals so often act in the opposite direction, trying to cozy up
00:31:10.560 with America, making concessions to them. At the same time, their rhetoric gives the Trump
00:31:15.240 administration no reason to actually want to sign anything with them because they slap them one day
00:31:21.200 And then they give them concessions the next day. Trump sees this as just a net win. Carney's flailing around and trying to drum up domestic support by being anti-Trump. At the same time, he's constantly giving Trump everything he wants. So let's just keep it up for a little bit longer.
00:31:37.040 Anyways, so with that being said, thank you guys for watching. Make sure that in the pinned at the top of the comments, I will link the three Conservative campaigns in the upcoming by-elections for Chikutimi-Lefjord, Beaches East York, and North Vancouver-Capilano if you want a lawn sign for the local candidates, or if you want to volunteer.
00:31:59.520 even if you're in beaches east york and the conservatives have no chance of winning i think
00:32:03.860 it's a good practice to go out there and still put in a good showing to go after the liberals in
00:32:09.440 their strongholds and chip away at them it's attritional warfare out there everything does
00:32:14.400 not get solved with a cavalry charge in canadian politics everything is slow meandering maneuvering
00:32:20.380 and doggedly pursuing your opponent on their weak parts anyways with all that being said thank you
00:32:26.040 guys for watching, and I'll see you all later.
