00:00:00.000 I may have underestimated how funny Prime Minister Mark Carney is, because the man has game.
00:00:07.260 For the past year and a half, he has been feeding the Liberal base with elbows-up cope that we're going to be able to get a deal from the Americans while making no concessions.
00:00:17.380 And as of yesterday, he is now willing to make big concessions to Donald Trump for pretty much nothing in return.
00:00:24.340 Oh, and by the way, Carney's going on vacation right now.
00:00:27.680 It's like he just wants to see how Laura Babcock is going to make excuses on his behalf.
00:00:33.280 He's not even trying to be a good Prime Minister anymore.
00:00:35.480 He just wants to see how much the cult is willing to justify anything he does.
00:00:41.640 But let's just quickly jump over to this post from Melissa here that sums up the situation quite well.
00:00:47.840 She is commenting over a Globe and Mail article that is entitled,
00:00:51.620 Canada discussing trade concessions with the U.S. in return for some tariff relief, sources say.
00:00:59.060 For some tariff relief, we're going to make concessions.
00:01:01.840 Well, I guess that's better than what we were previously doing, making concessions for literally nothing.
00:01:07.380 But, you know, who am I to say that maybe Prime Minister Mark Carney is doing a bad job here?
00:01:13.180 But Melissa says, as expected, Canada is getting ready to give in and give up some concessions to the United States.
00:01:19.960 Not sure how Elbows Up will deal with this.
00:01:23.200 Well, either they're not going to deal with it very well,
00:01:26.020 and they're going to start defecting over to the NDP if they want to go even harder into the Elbows Up cult,
00:01:32.280 or they'll come out of it and start voting conservative.
00:01:35.700 I thought Ryan also had a good comment on all this.
00:01:38.920 Or, again, they might also just start making excuses, the Elbows Up people, for Mark Carney,
00:01:43.080 like I expect Charlie Angus and Laura Babcock to.
00:01:46.440 Ryan Gerritsen here says Doug Ford will be forced to end the booze ban there should never have been
00:01:53.840 a ban in the first place without a doubt this is the media preparing for the elbows up public for
00:01:59.860 what's coming and he's quoting the CBC article here and says quote in addition to ending the
00:02:06.100 booze ban the Canadian side is considering lifting retaliatory tariffs on U.S. autos
00:02:10.800 and making some changes on dairy, the sources said. They didn't say what changes were on the
00:02:16.260 table in regards to the dairy sector, unquote. And then Ryan here ends office post by saying,
00:02:21.640 the capitulation continues because we need the U.S. more than they need us, which is accurate.
00:02:27.480 They're just simply the bigger economy. This is just always true. It's not unpatriotic to say
00:02:32.160 you have to realize that reality if then you want to leverage the strengths against the Americans to
00:02:38.640 get as good of a deal as possible. But the Liberals and Carney were living in fantasy land
00:02:44.200 where Carney just said on the campaign trail, oh, well, I have dealt with Donald Trump before,
00:02:49.500 so I'm going to be able to get a deal. And when asked how he's going to get a deal, he would
00:02:54.020 actually say during Liberal Party leadership debates, I'll use diplomacy. Like the lamest
00:02:59.980 game of Dungeons and Dragons ever. You come to some person who's trying to like, who's threatening
00:03:05.500 to kill you what are you going to do i use diplomacy like what does that mean like what are
00:03:11.000 you actually going to say mark carney you can't just go to trump and say i'm going to negotiate
00:03:15.340 with you or i'm going to diplomacy you what are you going to use as leverage to get the tariffs
00:03:21.100 off because what it looks like is that the entire booze ban is just going to be sacrificed in order
00:03:28.200 to like maybe soften some of the pain of the upcoming increased tariffs has this been worth
00:03:34.820 it at all? I don't really think so. But it's been really funny watching liberal shills going on
00:03:42.300 outlets like CBC and CTV News now trying to prepare the elbows up base to believe what
00:03:48.760 Carney is doing here is somehow genius. Here is Sharon Kor on CTV News talking about the upcoming
00:03:54.800 negotiations. I know that Trump makes it seem like the pain is all on Canadians by throwing
00:04:00.580 these tariffs at us but americans are hurting their industry is hurting alcohol is a very good
00:04:05.860 example just look at kentucky and look at what's happening to bourbon companies are being completely
00:04:10.500 ground to the ground and so this is something that is hurting in his own states what's going
00:04:15.060 to have to happen is folks like premier ford eb everybody else is going to have to come at the
00:04:20.180 table and say well where are they going to give us concessions on auto what are we going to give
00:04:24.340 on dairy there has to be a compromise we're dealing with a very unreliable negotiator on the
00:04:30.260 the other side. So we have to give some things. And I would say something like alcohol is probably
00:04:34.700 a hard one because it's so symbolic. But for the most part, I think there's going to be people who
00:04:39.180 will welcome that potential change. There will be people who welcome that change. They're called
00:04:43.640 conservatives because we were never stupid enough to engage in the ban in the first place. And some
00:04:49.100 people will say, hey, well, we're only trying, we're only getting some concessions from the U.S.
00:04:52.880 softening the blow of the tariffs because we did the booze ban in the first place. It's like,
00:04:56.260 okay, sure, but how many other concessions have we already given up for absolutely nothing in
00:05:02.660 return? Getting it wrong, like, five times in a row, and then getting it, like, not even half
00:05:08.000 right, like a third right now by getting rid of the booze ban for a slight reduction in tariffs
00:05:13.180 is just laughably embarrassing. Again, from Mark Carney, who pitched himself as the Trump whisperer,
00:05:19.680 and even American media reported on that being kind of like a, not a nickname for him, but kind
00:05:26.060 of like a mocking kind of label to put on him because that's how he was pitching himself and
00:05:30.060 the American media kind of rolled their eyes and by the way I always hate this thing that the left
00:05:34.620 does whenever they're talking about Donald Trump in Canada oh he's so unpredictable it's so hard
00:05:39.420 to negotiate with someone who's this unpredictable can you even trust the man who cares really and
00:05:45.360 I'm not saying who cares like just give him whatever he wants and just hope that he does
00:05:48.640 nice things for us no my point is sure but the thing is if you are if you're actually good at
00:05:54.960 negotiating, if you're actually good at using the leverage you have to get what you want,
00:05:59.720 an unreliable person can be made reliable. In fact, during this entire situation over the past
00:06:05.240 year and a half, who has been more inconsistent? Donald Trump or Mark Carney? If anything,
00:06:11.300 Donald Trump is perfectly consistent. I consistently don't like the tariffs he puts on us,
00:06:16.120 but Mark Carney's strategy to try and lift the tariffs has been absolutely all over the place.
00:06:22.020 talking tough, taking jabs at Donald Trump, traveling to China, giving a bear hug to Xi Jinping,
00:06:27.580 and then giving him concessions on the Gordie Howe Bridge, streaming tax, DST, and now some
00:06:32.600 other stuff for either nothing in return or for way less value than we could have gotten
00:06:38.220 if a conservative was negotiating, because they would have lowered taxes, lowered regulations,
00:06:43.660 done a lot of things to economically develop domestically in order for the U.S. to actually
00:06:48.740 think, huh, they may be able to weather the storm better than we can. So now we're the ones who have
00:06:54.380 the shorter timeline on when the tariffs are going to have bigger political consequences for us.
00:06:59.940 The problem is because Carney and the liberals have made the economy so weak, we have always been
00:07:04.440 on the shorter timeline to needing to get the tariffs off. The U.S. is a far more powerful
00:07:09.400 economy, far more per capita, healthier economy. So they're allowed to do damage to themselves.
00:07:14.600 Sharon Kors saying, well, you know, some of the tariffs have been hurting them too.
00:07:18.200 Yes, the point of tariffs, oftentimes, and I don't even agree with tariffs, I'm a very big free trade guy,
00:07:23.360 but the point of them, in the way Trump is using them, is he's willing to inflict some pain on himself,
00:07:28.680 knowing that you can't handle the pain he's going to inflict onto you, so that he can get something back in return.
00:07:34.320 We have been giving him tons of stuff in return, just to basically hold him back from doing even more,
00:07:40.200 which has demonstrated that we were always the ones who were in the more vulnerable position,
00:07:43.900 But what Carney would do is pretend he's, like, barrel-chested and puff himself out and pretend like, oh, you know, hey, I'm not a conspiracy theorist like Donald Trump.
00:07:54.160 You know, unlike some world leaders I know, I actually care about, you know, the rule of law and, like, ethics or whatever.
00:08:00.540 He'd just go on all these stupid tangents about how, like, Canada represents the kinder, gentler world that everybody wants when he's at Davos.
00:08:07.800 And then he had to apologize for that one later.
00:08:09.840 But, you know, whatever.
00:08:11.040 I want to go down to the second clip of Sharon Cora here because that was the setup of her just talking about how like, well, you know, up to this point, we've been, it's actually been a bit more of a 50-50 fight. It's not. How do I know? Because we're the ones making the concessions. It's not been a 50-50 fight. It has mostly been hurting us.
00:08:31.620 As we understand, negotiation is all about give or take. But when we speak of concessions,
00:08:37.420 Sharon, how will that look on the prime minister who's been putting up a very brave front all
00:08:42.240 along, but the word concession? No, no, he's not been putting up a very brave front all along
00:08:48.660 because this isn't the first time he's done concessions. This isn't even the first time
00:08:52.740 he's had to do something like apologize to Trump. Symbolically and in terms of actual trade
00:08:59.100 concessions, it's all been on Carney's side in terms of blinking. He has been constantly blinking
00:09:05.820 throughout this whole process. That's what makes it frustrating. You know, in a certain sense,
00:09:10.540 could an elbows-up trade strategy work? Potentially. You have to be so committed to the bit that you're
00:09:17.340 basically willing to just double or triple whatever tariffs they put on you in response
00:09:21.920 to basically say, I'm crazy, I'll do anything to you unless you remove your tariffs. Still less
00:09:27.380 likely than just saying, hey, here's a bunch of policies I don't even like in the first place,
00:09:31.160 DST, streaming tax, supply management. Let's get rid of those in exchange for no tariffs.
00:09:35.920 And we actually benefit even more than we would if we didn't have the tariffs on in the first
00:09:40.420 place because it gave us an excuse to get rid of supply management that most Canadians don't even
00:09:44.840 like. But I hate this idea that he's somehow been like a brave front against the Americans. No,
00:09:50.640 he's literally going to Italy on vacation right now. That's not because it was pre-planned,
00:09:55.660 probably he can cancel it whenever he wants he's not like he had to book in his time because oh my
00:10:02.200 goodness air canada flight prices were going up he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants on his
00:10:06.900 own plane he is leaving town in the middle of the trade negotiations because he wants to be
00:10:10.900 rhetorically very far away from anything that happens especially after dst what happened last
00:10:16.780 year how will that look for him politically so listen buying tariff relief now with these
00:10:22.400 concessions and conversations may seem unheroic to some people because it is from his own narrative
00:10:29.180 that he has set up it is on it is unheroic but it's arguably probably the only realistic plan
00:10:35.980 that we have because oh wow you mean the thing conservatives have been saying for the longest
00:10:41.100 time who people like Jamil Javani and Pierre Polyev and Shavloy Majumdar and other conservative
00:10:47.300 of MPs and commentators and influencers have been skewered for saying that, hey, we should use our
00:10:53.540 leverage and use things like our China trade deal, burn it in order to get something else.
00:10:58.220 That was considered naive, hopelessly naive that you can even negotiate, that making any concession
00:11:03.320 is actually going to be honored in the long run. And now she's saying, well, you know, really,
00:11:06.880 it's the only thing we can do. And it's very sensible. It's like, where were you, Sharon
00:11:12.380 core for the last year and a half which is has there been another sharon core running around
00:11:17.480 who's just like a radical like leftist liberal shill but now like the real sharon core has like
00:11:25.140 entered the room he's like hey what the heck's going on here and i'm gonna get on ctv news and
00:11:29.340 correct the record like no you have been lying either for the past year and a half either that
00:11:33.740 was your previously your real position and this is the fake one or previously you're lying for a
00:11:38.300 and a half and this is your real position i genuinely don't know because i could have seen
00:11:42.540 her basically lying to the liberal public for the past year and a half saying that all this
00:11:46.460 was great when she knew it wasn't or now she's pretending she likes this when she absolutely
00:11:50.620 doesn't because she is a true elbows up believer because the alternative is what absorbing 50 have
00:11:56.700 because the alternative is what absorbing 50 percent tariffs in just a few days that's not
00:12:02.460 realistic so we have to remember that the deals we had previously are not on the table anymore
00:12:07.580 and they have to compromise for the greater good our industries and our countries are so intertwined
00:12:14.140 that the pain can continue to go on until the end of trump's tenure and i think what carney
00:12:20.620 and team are doing is trying to find a way to limit that and cause the least amount of harm
00:12:24.700 to our economy and people she's making it sound seem like the carney and and the liberal team
00:12:31.100 has discovered some like hidden knowledge not accessible to the rest of us it's like
00:12:35.580 free market economics? You mean just general foreign policy theory about big countries versus
00:12:43.540 small countries and just the realistic overview of what Canada has to offer to the US, what
00:12:50.100 leverage we have? This is something that everybody but these simpletons knew about
00:12:55.560 well in advance to this. You could have like woken me up 4 a.m. two years ago and asked me,
00:13:03.080 what do we do if Trump tariffs the heck out of us? And I'd be like, okay, do this, do this,
00:13:07.620 do this, concede on these things that we don't even like, you know, give him a symbolic win.
00:13:11.800 He can go away saying, hey, look, within a first month of my tariffs, I already got a deal with
00:13:15.940 our biggest trade partner, Canada. And then we get all the tariffs off. We get rid of supply
00:13:19.760 management. We get rid of a couple other things that we didn't care about, DST streaming tax.
00:13:23.740 And he rides off. We get even, we're better off than we were even before. That's what I would
00:13:29.380 have done in the first place. But it's like Carney, the guy who has a master's degree in PhD
00:13:35.580 in finance and economics, only now figured out that actually you can't just sit back and hope
00:13:42.080 that Trump's going to eventually approach you and be like, oh my goodness, Carney, you stoically
00:13:46.720 sitting there doing nothing and then making random concessions to me made me realize I need to give
00:13:51.480 you the, I'm going to give you the farm. You're getting everything I have. It was always stupid
00:13:56.680 to assume that this was going to happen. Now, I just want to jump over to the news of him going
00:14:03.420 on vacation. So this is very funny. It's another post from Ryan Gerritsen here. So shout out to
00:14:08.660 Ryan Gerritsen's very good X account that follows the news in the very like kind of granular way.
00:14:14.900 It's always helpful to me because I sometimes pull up the direct news articles on the show,
00:14:20.800 but when people post them on X, I can kind of have them bookmarked one after another,
00:14:24.380 which is nice for me. He, over top of the City News article that reads,
00:14:29.800 Carney's work hours reduced next week while in Italy, but his eyes still on priorities PM's
00:14:34.820 office. Ryan Gerritsen here says, the very least he could be is honest with people. His eyes still
00:14:41.940 on priorities? Please. The guy is on vacation in Italy. Every chance this guy gets, he runs back
00:14:47.400 to Europe. And why is it that he also runs back to Europe every time he should be doing his job?
00:14:53.160 remember when he was first elected and we're like well budget time right you know he just became
00:14:58.540 prime minister we've been out without a budget for a while budget time right and he's just like no
00:15:03.320 it's actually sunbathing time it's actually time for me to go have dinner with emmanuel macron and
00:15:09.380 talk about nothing it's actually time for me to go head to indonesia and go visit my best friend
00:15:16.300 Keir Starmer and like go to Luxembourg or whatever it's like no what it's always like a tertiary
00:15:23.240 priority with him whenever things actually get difficult you know the household's finances are
00:15:29.800 in shambles but now Carney thinks it's the best time that we you know clean that we dust the house
00:15:35.560 and now he's going on vacation so you can't even call it a tertiary priority he wants to be out
00:15:40.880 of town so that when charette our chief negotiator and dominic leblanc screw it up he can be like
00:15:48.360 oh my goodness well this like i'm washing my hands of this one dominic you're out of here i didn't
00:15:54.260 know you were screwing it up this badly oh my goodness how could something happen like this
00:16:01.300 while he's like drinking like aperol spritz or whatever he's trying to be out of the blast radius
00:16:07.540 once the dairy cartel comes after him for getting rid of, like, some aspects of supply management.
00:16:13.720 And supply management sucks. I'll give him a small golf clap right now for sacrificing some
00:16:18.860 supply management to get some trade concessions. I'd have gotten rid of the whole thing. But the
00:16:24.220 liberals are just delusional to think that, like, this was never completely inevitable. Again, I am
00:16:31.260 waiting for the meltdown that we are going to see ensue with people like Laura Babcock or Charlie
00:16:37.320 I think one of them, one of the kind of liberal elbows up people will have a meltdown, while the other ones are going to be even funnier watching them still pretend that this is exactly what they voted for.
00:16:48.980 I love the evolution of the elbows up crowd.
00:16:52.140 First they got in, and what they voted for was the man who could take on Donald Trump and get a deal.
00:16:57.680 And then we passed the July 2025 trade deadline.
00:17:01.960 And then they said, no, no, no, I actually voted for elbows up forever where we don't get a deal because screw the Americans.
00:17:08.500 And then when he made a deal with China and China, like the country he said was our biggest national security threat, they said, no, no, this is absolutely what I voted for.
00:17:17.980 And now that he made concessions on the Gordie Howe Bridge and streaming tax, they said, no, no, no, I'm perfectly fine with this.
00:17:24.160 I always expected that he was going to have to do things like this to get the bridge open.
00:17:27.240 And now that he's making even more concessions, the thing that people were fear-mongering that Polyev would do, like, the realistic thing, now they're saying, oh, see, this is what I voted for the entire time. They've been through, like, several different variations of I voted for this that are completely contradictory.
00:17:44.140 But now I want to jump over to the CBC segment, where again, they are basically on suicide watch in terms of trying to make sure that Canadians think that what Mark Carney is doing is very intricate, interesting, and very savvy.
00:18:01.840 He's doing some savvy moves here as they cover their anonymous sources from the government discussing what's going on.
00:18:07.160 over this country. A couple of things before I get into the specific details we need to say.
00:18:12.060 All of the information I'm about to share is according to two industry sources that CBC News
00:18:16.980 is granting anonymity to in order to discuss sensitive ongoing negotiations. And the Globe
00:18:22.360 and Mail was first to report on the details of these conversations. But CBC News has been able
00:18:27.800 to match the story, but also in addition, add some more details and some more context to what's going
00:18:32.960 on here. So we're finally starting to get a sense of what specifically the Canadians are asking for
00:18:38.540 and what the Canadians are willing to give up in order to sort of ease this ongoing trade war.
00:18:44.360 We are told, according to two industry sources, that Canada is willing to make some changes when
00:18:49.800 it comes to the alcohol bans to meet the American demands to remove that. No, that's not changes.
00:18:56.280 That's just getting rid of the alcohol bans. But we're using already a lot of hedging language
00:19:01.180 here notice how when she started off she said what we want and what we're willing to give up
00:19:06.520 to get it it's like no that's not really the relationship it's what we are giving up to get
00:19:11.120 some small thing in return but she tried she sort of like changed the prioritization of which things
00:19:16.480 she mentioned first to make it seem like we really want this thing and i guess we'll give you this to
00:19:20.940 get to get it back like no no we're going into the office as scared children say i will give you
00:19:26.480 these three things slightly lower the tariffs for us and then after that she then brings up uh here
00:19:33.040 what did she say again i have to remember changes when it comes to the alcohol bans to me the
00:19:37.700 changes to the alcohol ban no getting rid of the alcohol ban doug ford wob canoe david eby and
00:19:45.240 people like you know what's her name i don't even care the lady who's the new liberal premier of
00:19:50.920 new brunswick all these people are going to have to capitulate they're going to have to stoop and
00:19:56.120 it's going to look bad but we're acting like there's changes being made no no surrender would
00:20:00.960 be the right term for what's happening here the american demands to remove to ban american booze
00:20:06.840 on um on uh canadian shelves also willing to uh to uh meet some demands when it comes to lifting
00:20:14.380 tariffs on the auto sector and making some changes when it comes to the dairy sector however
00:20:19.240 not anything to do with the dismantling of supply management that remains a firm thing that the
00:20:24.440 Canadian government is not going to be changing. She can't just she can't just quote Mark Carney
00:20:29.800 from a press conference like a few days ago when he says that he supports supply management. Yes,
00:20:34.120 he does. Foolishly to his detriment, he supports it. She can't say, but we're not dismantling it.
00:20:39.220 But they are like, you know, deleting certain aspects of it. They're going to start to soften
00:20:45.120 certain aspects of it. So one of the biggest things that it did banning U.S. dairy may go
00:20:50.740 away now. And by the way, I know there are some people being like, well, Canadian companies can't
00:20:55.520 compete because U.S. dairy is so much more subsidized. As I said on the show the other day,
00:21:01.360 the food professor on X, Sylvian Charlebois, again, I always have to mention, I wish my name
00:21:06.560 was Sylvian Charlebois. This show would have like, you know, three times as many subscribers if I
00:21:11.220 could say, hey guys, Sylvian Charlebois here. But he noted that Canadian dairy farms are both
00:21:18.360 directly and indirectly subsidized more than american ones and that's not to say like oh my
00:21:23.480 goodness there's uh if such superior dairy to us look at our a subsidizing or crappy dairy it's
00:21:28.620 like no subsidies make industries crappy there's a reason why alberta has 12 of the canadian
00:21:35.520 population but only produces around nine percent of the actual dairy output it's because the quota
00:21:41.480 system crushes our own industry in favor of select winners to the detriment of the losers who don't
00:21:48.340 get a large portion of the quota or are happy to live on very small portions of the quota because
00:21:54.280 they're guaranteed a higher price. Now, people making less than $70,000 a year, their households
00:21:59.920 are paying like one and a half percent of their family's income every year, just paying for the
00:22:04.600 regulatory cost of supply management. We should be getting rid of this. And if we don't like U.S.
00:22:10.840 hyper-pasteurized dairy products, how about we make a policy saying they can import into Canada,
00:22:16.440 but they can't hyper pasteurize they have to meet the canadian dairy standards and then they're fine
00:22:21.200 they can send stuff up here but going back to this like we are fundamentally based on what i'm saying
00:22:27.180 here we are fundamentally talking about a big change to supply management but like the cbc is
00:22:32.940 constantly just babbling at their audience saying no no no we're not we're not getting rid of the
00:22:37.720 booze band we're making adjustments no no no actually we're demanding things from the u.s and
00:22:42.600 we're saying that we'll maybe give you these concessions together we don't even know what
00:22:46.020 we're getting from the U.S., which to me says it's not substantial enough that the sources wanted to
00:22:51.900 leak that out because the sources are liberal sources. These are friends of the Liberal Party
00:22:58.260 feeding news to the Globe and Mail and the CBC. The fact that they won't say what we're getting
00:23:03.740 in return means it's not very newsworthy. They're keeping it vague for a reason because it's probably
00:23:10.220 not like, you know, they can't sell it to the Canadian public quite yet if we're just saying,
00:23:15.100 hey, we're going to move the 50% tariffs down to 30%. It's a win. It's a win. Not much of one
00:23:22.240 considering how much we've given away up to this point and now how much we're going to give away
00:23:26.220 now to just get that minor change. I doubt that's even what the change is based on what they're
00:23:31.460 saying. But willing to meet some American demands when it comes to quota systems and how dairy is
00:23:35.980 sort of viewed in Canadian shelves. But the big headline out of that, that really nasty sticking
00:23:40.680 point that the Americans don't like, the Canadians have indicated to the Americans that they are
00:23:44.680 willing to give up on those booze bans if they get something in exchange. Now, what are the
00:23:49.160 Canadians pushing for? What we are told, again, according to these two industry sources, is the
00:23:54.380 main thing Canada is pushing for in this moment, they do not want those new tariffs, the 50%
00:23:59.560 tariffs on some Canadian goods that are set to come into effect on August 19th. Those cannot
00:24:05.340 come into effect. And it has been expressed to the Americans that that is sort of viewed
00:24:09.380 as a make or break moment again she's still using language to make it sound like we're being tough
00:24:15.260 this is a make or break moment so you better not do that or we're going to like i don't know what
00:24:20.620 like we'll give you these things to not hurt us or whatever okay this is the thing that the cbc
00:24:25.060 is filling in that the globe and mail didn't have so we're not even reducing tariffs on the things
00:24:31.180 that are pre-existing from like 50 to 40 50 to 30 that would be like you know somewhat respectable
00:24:36.600 Okay, we can give up maybe some other concessions to get all the way back to zero or very close to it. We're giving away things so that the new 50% tariffs don't get implemented, which means that we have less leverage and less cards to play to get rid of the bulk of the problem, which is softwood tariffs, aluminum tariffs, steel tariffs, auto tariffs, and I think I already said softwood.
00:25:02.540 But like, that's the main thing here. The rest of the 50% tariffs will hurt. But that's the things that haven't even happened yet. We're like giving up concessions just to avoid a worse future. When in theory, if we were playing our cards right, a year ago, we would have been saying, you know what, okay, we will help build a firewall against China with you.
00:25:22.960 we will get rid of supply management, we'll get rid of the DST, we'll get rid of the streaming
00:25:27.900 tax, and we will, you know, have some other maybe Canadian content type policy that will change to
00:25:34.000 allow more American productions and whatnot into the country without all these restrictions or
00:25:38.160 whatever. I don't even know. You can imagine that if you're in government, you could find
00:25:41.460 other regulations the Americans don't like very much and say, okay, if you get rid of, you get
00:25:45.360 six things and we're only looking for three things in return or in return, autos, steel and aluminum
00:25:51.140 and softwood tariffs gone. And then Trump gets to chalk up a very early victory. We're better off
00:25:56.680 than we were even beforehand. And he gets to say that he won and helps him in the midterms. But
00:26:01.740 we couldn't do that because our leadership is inept. They are the type of people who identify
00:26:08.920 as intelligent. And they see Donald Trump as the stupid boor over there, and they don't want to
00:26:15.220 deal with him, mostly because they're scared of being outplayed by him, like they are now.
00:26:19.940 They are clearly caving. This is a long form way of caving to the Americans. And I'm not anti-American, but even when I like the Americans pretty much like overall, I have no real big complaints with them other than the tariffs.
00:26:35.440 But even when dealing with an ally, why are you looking weak this way? Earn their respect.
00:26:41.280 Either go actually really hard to get them to remove the tariffs. Say, I'm going to triple whatever tariffs you put on me. I'm flipping crazy.
00:26:48.420 Or say, you know what? Fair enough. You have some complaints. I have some complaints. Let's sit down and hash this out for the next 10 days and say, I'm not going to leave Washington, D.C. until we negotiate this out.
00:26:58.640 And if you want to fight hard there, yeah, play hardball. Exhaust them a little bit. Keep bringing back things for review.
00:27:04.980 And then just say, hey, well, if you don't accept this right now, I'm going to give you these five things in exchange for these three things.
00:27:11.080 And if you don't say yes, it's not going to happen.
00:27:12.980 I'm not going to talk to you for a year.
00:27:14.600 Like, you can game this stuff out, but Carney is too scared of being played by Donald Trump.
00:27:20.440 So not only is he now finally, a year and a half later, having to make concessions to not even get anything spectacular back in return,
00:27:28.480 he doesn't even have the guts to be in Canada or America while it's happening.
00:27:33.860 He is off in Italy because I guess Mark Carney wants to go vacation in a country run better than Canada.
00:27:40.620 Thank you, Georgia Maloney.
00:27:42.540 Anyways, so that should be it for this video, guys.
00:27:46.520 No doubt we are going to see a lot of follow-ups to the story as more details come out.
00:27:51.480 But it's safe to say, this is pathetic.
00:27:54.820 What are we doing, man?
00:27:56.460 Like, again, Mark Carney, comedian extraordinaire, because I am going to laugh my butt off watching liberals justifying this, melting down over it, or pretending it didn't happen at all. And I already see liberal accounts out there acting as if somehow, like, why are conservatives celebrating Canada having to make concessions?
00:28:16.660 It's like, no, we're not. We're laughing at Carney for being so unrealistic that he avoided the inevitability that concessions will have to be made. And now he's not even doing it right. Or other people who are just posting about anything else right now.
00:28:31.180 laura babcock's attacking alberta premier danielle smith because i don't know what she did wrong i
00:28:37.160 guess she's joining the derrick smith club unacceptable fringe and they're both attacking
00:28:41.320 her over things she didn't do from the pro-independent side to the just pants on head
00:28:46.000 crazy federalist side i am a federalist but a lot of the people in the federalist camp from like
00:28:52.360 uh forever canada to like laura babcock's people and the unions are nuts the people who like scream
00:28:58.440 and cry over Alberta flags. It's like, please get away from me. I want no association with you.
00:29:04.220 I'm not pro-independence, but those people are embarrassing, especially because they're in denial
00:29:08.800 that there are problems in Canada. Now, I think you can still fix those problems better inside
00:29:13.620 of Canada than leaving Canada. But like, like still, you have to acknowledge the problems exist
00:29:20.100 or you're actually just fueling independence when the people who are advocating for Canada
00:29:25.400 are just lying about the current state of things uh same time i do find some independence people
00:29:30.660 really heavily exaggerate benefits to independence but i'm not really going to get in the way of the
00:29:35.200 movement uh i'll probably sound off more about it more towards the end of the referendum maybe i'll
00:29:40.340 even wait until the end because i don't want anyone to accuse me of hey why it well the
00:29:43.920 independence movement would have been doing way better if you didn't step in its way that's why
00:29:47.820 i'm not getting in the way so i'm trying to remain blameless here i am in not an offensive way because
00:29:54.460 I'm saying this as a born-again Christian. I am the Pontius Pilate of this particular thing,
00:29:59.380 and I am washing my hands of this situation, saying that I'm not taking a side so I cannot
00:30:04.040 be said to have done anything wrong. But let's assume that that is not, I'm not comparing that
00:30:08.840 to the biblical context, obviously. That's just what came to my mind. Anyways, so with all that
00:30:13.900 being said, thank you guys for watching. Make sure to like, share, subscribe. Hit the join button if
00:30:18.400 you want to become a channel member. And tomorrow, I may end up doing a video where I kind of go over
00:30:24.880 a more detailed breakdown of the UCP nomination I'm running for in the riding of Calgary Curry.
00:30:32.440 I have like the enlarged map over here I got from Elections Alberta, showing the map, the boundaries
00:30:38.800 of the map. And I was going to use it as like, I guess like a, I need the microphone so I'm not
00:30:44.300 turning away from it. Sort of a test case for what I think not only the federal conservatives
00:30:49.240 need to be doing, but all conservative parties, including the UCP that I'm going to be trying to
00:30:54.220 run for. Because there's a lot of discourse online yesterday, not on my channel comment section,
00:31:00.720 but just like on Twitter and Facebook of people reacting to opinions of myself and others saying
00:31:06.160 the conservative party needs to take every by-election seriously, every single writing
00:31:10.660 in a general series. It doesn't matter if it's a safe liberal riding. You invest the money. You
00:31:15.160 push hard because people need to visually see there are conservatives everywhere. There's not
00:31:19.540 just conservative enclaves in a country that's considered default liberal. And I was going to
00:31:23.880 use the swing riding that I'm running for as an example of why you need to be running really,
00:31:29.520 really hard in every single riding in a country if you want to win elections. If you're going to
00:31:34.840 Grab for that brass ring. You've got to do it. There's no way of politely asking to win an election. You go out there and win an election. You force the win through. And that means doing a lot of things that seem dead on arrival all the way through.
00:31:50.300 Anyways, so now finally, my third time saying that's it for me today, guys. That's it for me today, guys. See you around.
