00:00:00.000Hey guys, Wyatt Claypool here, and welcome back to the National Telegraph YouTube channel.
00:00:05.760When you watch Question Period these days, it really feels like Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberals have backed themselves into a political corner.0.96
00:00:15.080The economy sucks, the budget they're going to release tomorrow is probably going to suck,0.93
00:00:19.440there's obvious corruption problems in the Carney Liberal government,0.98
00:00:22.560and there's no obvious immediate policy wins for the Liberals to lean on to buoy up their popularity.
00:00:29.220Are the Liberals still polling well right now? Well, sure, but you're polling well until you're
00:00:34.720not polling well, and you can tell the Liberals are really on the defensive these days. Just watch
00:00:40.480the dynamics in QP that I'm going to show you in just a little bit here. But before we get to the
00:00:45.400QP, I just want to remind you guys, if you like the channel, make sure to leave a like on the video,
00:00:49.840subscribe if you are not yet a subscriber, and of course, leave a comment with what you think
00:00:54.840about all this. Check out Pyropolev here grilling the liberals and just how defensive they are
00:01:00.320acting. It's all well and good to watch the results of the border, but we have real problems
00:01:05.460as well here in Canada. Real problems in the real lives of real people who can't afford to eat,
00:01:11.960heat, or house themselves. Real problems that have gotten much worse since this prime minister
00:01:16.680took office. Meanwhile, he distracts with grand theatrical gestures. So my question is,
00:01:24.840Will he actually stand up and do his job in this House, in our country,
00:01:31.340to save Canadians money by taking all taxes off gas and diesel
00:01:35.620so Canadians can afford to eat, heat and house themselves?
00:01:40.060The Honourable Government House Leader.
00:01:42.460This Prime Minister and this government has and will continue to,
00:01:46.440I note that the budget is tomorrow, will continue to support Canadians
00:01:50.600who are feeling pinched by foreign wars, wars in the Middle East,
00:01:54.840a number of external factors, including trade wars, that have affected their quality of life
00:02:00.520and affordability. But I have to also note, Mr. Speaker, the systematic opposition of that leader
00:02:07.340and that party to every single possible initiative that we put forward to help Canadians in need.
00:02:15.620What was that? But you know what I mean? Focus on the tone there. It's very defensive. It's
00:02:22.660very insecure. The fact that he's trying to wheel about and smack Polyev for not voting for bloated
00:02:29.800liberal programs is just late stage Trudeau era nonsense. Oh, you didn't vote for our school lunch
00:02:36.620program. Oh, you didn't vote for our grocery rebate. Who cares? They're not good programs.
00:02:43.240I've said this before, but the liberal programs are like having a free crutch program in order
00:02:49.340to compensate for your leg breaking program which is the high taxes and regulations that we suffer
00:02:55.340through in this country hey but we gave you a free crutch paid for by taxpayer dollars okay well i
00:03:01.340wouldn't need it if you guys actually deregulated and cut taxes but the whole thing there is just1.00
00:03:07.420absolutely stupid they're still looking for foreign excuses for why things suck in canada0.97
00:03:13.500i'm sorry i don't like the trade conflict with the u.s either that is a lot of that is mostly1.00
00:03:18.620trump's fault of course at the same time what have you done domestically in order to improve things
00:03:24.760because the canadian economy was not good even before trump was re-elected the honorable leader
00:03:31.180of the opposition if the prime minister actually believed that he'd stand up and say it himself the
00:03:34.900question was about the 20 cents a liter that he adds to the price of gas including with a tax
00:03:40.640that you that takes money out of the pockets of hard-working canadians to subsidize american
00:03:47.420bio diesel and biogas firms in the middle of a trade dispute that the prime minister has been
00:03:53.760unable to solve here at home he drives up the cost for single moms seniors and small business people
00:04:00.600to subsidize the americans mr speaker enough is enough there are real problems here at home
00:04:06.520will he take his taxes off gas so canadians can afford to eat
00:04:10.120i will always note it's a bad sign if you're the government
00:04:17.320And between questions, you're having to throw who's going to answer to different people, especially people from just areas of the government that shouldn't be responding to this question.
00:04:28.920They're asking why, you know, Carney is refusing to stand up and answer these questions.
00:04:33.500And you've thrown it to Steve McKinnon, the House leader, and now you're throwing it to the minister in charge of climate change and environment.
00:04:42.240Mr. Speaker, we take affordability very seriously.
00:04:45.500And that is why, in fact, many people in his community and, frankly, communities right across the country are going to be able, with this heating season, to take advantage of the heat pump rebates that we have put in place.
00:04:57.560That is going to be a very tangible way to save Canadians, like, on average, like, over $1,000 every single year.
00:05:06.900You're delusional if you think heat pumps are going to be efficient in the riding of Battle River Crowfoot.
00:05:15.500no? Okay, so they're not going to be seeing that $1,000 benefit. And by the way, as is going to
00:05:20.840be pointed out by the Conservatives, that new heat pump program is actually tied to Brookfield
00:05:26.120asset management companies who are getting a massive subsidy to their heat pumps that are
00:05:31.480effectively like nobody actually needs in the vast majority of the country. But they're having
00:05:36.280their product subsidized because of a connection to the Prime Minister. These are true savings. But
00:05:41.040if he wants to talk about clean fuel regulations, I'm sure he might like to have a conversation with
00:05:45.760Imperial Strathcona. It's right outside his riding. The Honourable Leader of the Opposition.
00:05:51.300The question wasn't about how much Brookfield can get in heat pump subsidies from the Prime
00:05:55.200Minister. The question was about the cost of living. There are two economies right now. The
00:06:00.660economy for those who follow the rules and those who make the rules. The Prime Minister, it's
00:06:05.220legal for the Prime Minister to discuss matters that affect the financial interests of a friend
00:06:11.240under Section 9 of the Ethics Act. Dan Goldberg from Telesat is in two clubs with the Prime
00:06:17.900Minister, traveled to see him in London, attended both of his swearing-in ceremonies. Did the Prime
00:06:23.280Minister ever discuss with any of his staff the $2.3 billion in contracts that went from the
00:06:28.960government to that. The Honorable Minister of Industry. So we have now jumped to a third
00:06:36.360minister to answer a question when Carney is literally sitting in the room. How about he
00:06:41.600stands up and says, I have nothing to do with the Telesat contract. Yes, it's $2.3 billion. It's a
00:06:46.740lot. But I assure you, my government did a competitive bidding process and Telesat was
00:06:54.380the best one. It just happens to be his best friend. They were given the contract very quickly
00:06:58.680and the prime minister will not confirm whether or not he was involved in that decision.
00:07:02.460That is like, again, the Republicans lost the midterm elections in the United States
00:07:07.380for proportionately less corrupt behavior than this in terms of the amount of dollars involved.
00:07:15.000In this House, there's two philosophies that are contradicting themselves.
00:07:19.560First, the conservatives that are never talking about the American tariffs
00:07:23.540And us, dealing with the impact of a trade war, knowing that our Canadian companies are key for sovereignty and the protection of our people.
00:07:32.560That is Calasad. That is the company that we need to protect. Why? Because we need to have sovereign capability when it comes to satellite resistance.
00:07:40.180So the Liberal government, the Carney Liberals, will only give money to a Canadian company if it seems to have a connection to Prime Minister Mark Carney himself.
00:07:52.060Because with multiple other contracts that have been highlighted over this last week, tons of American firms have been getting contracts.
00:08:01.380In fact, the amount of contracts to American companies has gone up 50% under Prime Minister Carney.
00:08:08.180But when they have to brag about giving a contract to a Canadian company, it just so happens to be the person who runs the company is a best friend of Mark Carney.0.96
00:08:27.360What's Carney doing to try and get a good deal?
00:08:30.480The funny thing is, before we get back to QP, the midterm results are terrible for Mark Carney and the liberals.
00:08:35.520They shouldn't have wanted the Democrats to sweep both the House and the Senate, because rhetorically, now Carney has no excuse to not get a trade deal.
00:08:46.180They were acting as if the liberals and the media were covering the midterms as if this was the key domino that needs to fall in order for a trade deal to be secured.
00:08:55.500The main domino that needs to fall is Carney needs to actually, you know, basically get a hold of his ego and pride and go and fight for Canadians at the trade negotiating table.
00:09:07.780And now that the Democrats have both the Senate and the House, he has no more excuses left to not go and do it.
00:09:15.660Do the results of the midterms actually affect the trade deal at all?
00:09:20.160Not really, but that's what the Liberals had basically been implying for a year, that if the Trump Republicans lose the House and the Senate, now we've got them where we want them.
00:09:30.060Just look at this headline today. It was really funny.
00:09:32.700Even the Canadian media this morning had to start kind of downplaying the results as not mattering all that much.
00:09:55.540Yes, I am also deeply shocked that, wow, the Democrats winning two irrelevant houses of Congress to the trade talks isn't going to affect anything.
00:10:05.860So is Carney now going to put on his big boy pants and actually go and fight for a good trade deal?
00:10:11.860Or is he going to continue waiting out Trump, waiting until he's no longer president, and then he's going to go get a trade deal?
00:10:18.300this is obviously not what he promised in the 2025 election but they keep gaslighting canadians
00:10:23.460into pretending somehow they're tough on the americans and the conservatives aren't like the
00:10:29.680conservatives actually articulate how you get a trade deal you actually need to you know play
00:10:35.100hardball at the negotiating table it might may require some horse trading in order to get
00:10:40.080a tariff free trade between the u.s and canada you may actually have to give up some concessions
00:10:45.980But when you give up a concession, you get a concession in return.
00:10:49.740The Liberals have put themselves on such a high pedestal of only accepting perfection.
00:10:54.120It means that they have to avoid actually negotiating at all costs or else they'll fail because they have basically set the parameters for what victory is way too high for themselves that signing anything would take off their elbows up base.
00:11:08.560The Honorable Leader of the Opposition.
00:11:13.320Every time they get caught with their hands in the cookie jar, they engrave in grand theatrical distractions.
00:11:21.540It is illegal under the Ethics Act for the Prime Minister to be in any way involved with a company with whom he has a friendship.
00:11:32.420Dan Goldberg, the CEO of Telesat, is in a book club, a jogging club, and attended two swearing-in ceremonies with the Prime Minister.
00:11:40.420He even flew over to London to see the prime minister.
00:11:44.600So given that it's illegal to help a friend, did the prime minister ever discuss this contract with anyone in the government?
00:11:51.160Now, the correct answer, if you're Mark Carney and you're telling the truth, should be able to be standing up saying, no, I didn't do that.
00:11:58.060Or even having one of your ministers saying, no, he wasn't involved.
00:12:01.980Either they don't know if he was involved or not because they weren't part of that cabinet decision.
00:12:06.360or Carney is obviously involved and they just don't want to say because this should be the
00:12:12.900easiest thing to say. I wasn't involved and we will disclose any documents you need in order to prove
00:12:18.820it. The Honourable Minister. Speaker, it's been constant industrial policy for now decades to
00:12:27.060support the fact that we would be able to have companies operating telecommunication and satellite
00:12:34.660services. The Harper government, the Trudeau government, this government, we've all supported
00:12:42.260Telesat. We believe that thousands of jobs in this country are linked to the company. And not only
00:12:50.080that. Okay, so because other governments have worked with Telesat, and because there are many
00:12:55.120jobs that created by Telesat, that then entitles you to give them $2.3 billion at whim, at a whim,
00:13:03.840They can just get any contract they want, and we're just going to ignore the fact that the person who runs TELUSAT, what was it, Dan Goldman or Dave Goldman, that he's best friends with Mark Carney.
00:13:15.640I'm sorry, this is like SNC-Lavalin, where they justify, well, you know, they employ a lot of people, so ergo, who cares if they engage in a little bit of corruption, and then we basically let them off the hook.
00:13:25.640and that Justin Trudeau was, like, meeting with people from SNC-Lavalin and taking donations.
00:13:32.260Like, it's like saying, well, who cares about corruption because we're running an economy here.
00:13:38.080I would like to know from the leader of the opposition, what does he suggest?
00:13:43.400Is it more Telesat or more of an American company?
00:13:47.960What? But you guys are the ones contracting the Americans more than ever.0.68
00:13:51.640They're saying, we will give more American contracts out, either let us be corrupt, or we start only employing Americans.
00:14:00.340I'm not sure if this is the binary choice that we must make.
00:14:04.920I'm pretty sure we can hire Canadians and also at least have an ethics screen in place so that the Prime Minister isn't just handing out contracts to friends and we're actually having a competitive bidding process.
00:14:17.000The funny thing is there was a $12 million contract for providing security services to the Canadian Revenue Agency that went to an American firm because they outbid a Canadian firm by like $80,000, like a rounding error.
00:14:33.220And they decided instead of actually employing Canadians for $80,000 more, they're going to employ Americans down in the United States.
00:14:45.520So that's where they're going to penny pinch over $80,000 for a $12 million security contract that would have employed Canadians. They're going to save $80,000 to employ no Canadians, who in theory, if they actually got the gig, would have been paying taxes and kind of paying back the difference.
00:15:02.700But in this case, we will give $2.3 billion to Mark Carney's friend.
00:15:09.100And you shouldn't care because, well, we could have just employed Americans like we've done a bunch of other times for no reason.
00:15:21.960Oh, okay. We don't need to listen anymore. That's now the Bloc Québécois.
00:15:30.340The Liberals are not in a good place when it comes to the economy. Again, we've been losing jobs for several months now. In fact, July, that used to be a net positive jobs month, was evaluated from a 26,000 month gain for jobs in Canada to being a 17,000 job loss month.
00:15:50.320We lost jobs in August, we lost jobs in September, we're probably going to be losing jobs in October, and in the third quarter, we may actually have a shrinking economy again.
00:16:00.800So the liberals say, hey, look, we got out of a recession in the second quarter because we had a good growth month, but now we might have another two quarters of negative growth.
00:16:10.800Is this going to be a pattern where we have our one second quarter growth month that gets us out of the recession that we get into during the third, fourth, and first quarter of each year?
00:16:21.900Like, my goodness, this is not exactly a healthy economy.
00:16:25.760We're about to have a budget with a massive deficit, and there are obvious corruption problems everywhere.
00:16:31.380Like the Oceans and Fistertory Ministry getting $1.2 billion extra, and that seems to come in with Diana Fox Carney getting a new job as Ocean Envoy and getting massive access to that budget.
00:16:48.960But she gets to expense things from that budget.1.00
00:16:52.820She gets to host nonsense conferences for millions and millions of dollars that do not need to happen.0.73
00:16:58.740And we're doing some like indigenous leadership conference about the oceans or whatever that Diana Fox Carney is hosting, which is no doubt going to cost a lot of taxpayer money for nothing substantial, nothing tangible coming out of it.
00:17:12.820The government has a big problem with friends of Kearney, with family members of Kearney getting major contracts or some company they're connected to getting contracts, and the actual I's are not being dotted and T's not being crossed to assure everybody that there's no ethical issue here.
00:17:32.480The finance minister, Francois Philippe Champagne's wife, just so happened to become the VP of
00:17:37.640Environment, basically a nonsensical position.
00:17:40.900She was made the VP of Environment two months before her company Alto got $90 billion for
00:17:49.200the Alto high-speed rail line between Toronto and Quebec City.
00:17:54.400$90 billion for a train that's probably not going to be used very much, and it just so
00:17:58.360happened that the finance minister's partner was given a job two months before the money was
00:18:03.740shoved through in parliament. And in fact, the finance minister refused to even recuse himself
00:18:08.200while he was fighting the conservatives trying to remove that $90 billion line item to be voted on
00:18:13.760separately. He actually blocked that from happening so he could vote for it in a giant pork barrel
00:18:19.220omnibus budget bill. Anyways, so with all that being said, thank you guys for watching this
00:18:26.020video. Make sure to like, share, subscribe, do all that fantastic stuff, and I'll see you all later.
