00:00:00.000 Whenever government policy isn't working out the way the Mark Carney liberals would like it to,
00:00:05.020 you can always count on them to spin around and start attacking the pure poly of conservatives,
00:00:10.840 despite the fact they're in opposition.
00:00:13.280 There's this annoying media narrative that goes around that says that the pure poly of conservatives
00:00:19.240 are just a bunch of knuckle-dragging, annoying whiners,
00:00:23.180 constantly trying to take shots of the liberals.
00:00:25.120 And the liberals stand there stoic, ignoring the poly of conservatives, just focusing on doing good public policy.
00:00:33.900 And it's just not true at all.
00:00:36.640 The federal liberals are deeply thin-skinned, especially around times when their public policy is not very popular.
00:00:44.780 They're pushing this new giant omnibus bill to make a bunch of changes to try and speed up major projects,
00:00:50.900 which i thought the major projects office was supposed to do but apparently it isn't it's
00:00:56.040 getting a lot of flack from union groups it's getting a lot of flack from conservatives all
00:01:00.540 sorts of different parts of the economy don't like the changes they're proposing what the liberals
00:01:05.500 should be doing is what i always say the conservatives should run just cut taxes there's
00:01:09.520 no magic little regulation string pulling that you're going to do that's going to make the
00:01:14.140 economy go great guns sure do some regulatory reform but this is like trying to like water
00:01:20.220 the garden while the house is burning down it's so dumb but what i want to focus on is how the
00:01:26.220 liberals on their own social media disprove this narrative that they are stoic public policy wonks
00:01:32.620 they are constantly putting out these videos where they're just attacking the conservatives
00:01:38.380 like you're in government you have a majority are you also going to call stupid snap election like
00:01:44.300 david eby like come on here so the liberals right here say we're relentlessly focused on bringing
00:01:50.260 down costs for canadians like okay this one isn't less jabby but it's just here to kind of set up
00:01:55.900 the whole thing mr speaker this government will continue to work without fail to improve
00:02:03.880 affordability for canadians cutting taxes on income cutting taxes on first-time buyers
00:02:08.120 by the way when they say they're cutting tax on income it the income tax under fifty thousand
00:02:13.320 dollars where you don't even pay anything for the first like 18 000 it's going to go out down at
00:02:17.640 half percent half percent and he's also raised taxes elsewhere hidden taxes that you don't know
00:02:23.080 exist uh when you're like walking around just day to day but you absolutely are affected by them
00:02:28.280 he's just such a fraud the groceries and essential benefit the next check is coming in october 12
00:02:34.200 million canadians getting the benefit and above all providing the essential social services that
00:02:39.720 that that member voted against every single one oh every single one pure poly of so he is jabbing
00:02:44.860 in this one pure poly of is he voted against all the social services uh you wanted to like he even
00:02:52.340 voted to push you down the stairs he he voted to push your grandmother down the stairs here thought
00:02:56.880 of that one have you ever thought of that one he pushed want to push your grandmother downstairs
00:03:00.620 because he doesn't want to tax you a massive amount and then give you some of your money back
00:03:06.020 in these pathetic little rebates or you know sort of like uh like affordability programs it's so
00:03:12.500 lame the entire thing but again this is liberal social media like every single post has just been
00:03:18.880 attacking the poly of conservatives it's almost like they now detect that the trump bump is now
00:03:24.400 starting to wear off again and they're trying to slow down it wearing off child care dental care
00:03:29.700 national school food program twenty thousand dollars on savings for a canadian family
00:03:36.020 it's not savings you're not getting savings if you're being given money now there are some people
00:03:42.960 who might need some government assistance no conservative is just completely against all
00:03:48.180 forms of government assistance we just think that the systems are way too bloated right now
00:03:52.520 and that it would be better just to cut people's taxes and allow them to live their own lives
00:03:57.440 rather than taxes and regulations crushing people and requiring them to rely on the government but
00:04:04.260 like no no one's getting twenty thousand dollars of savings that's if you technically qualify for
00:04:09.740 every single program and you use them to their maximum extent you save twenty thousand dollars
00:04:15.020 for your household each year it's like okay wow so i guess families who are poor and struggling
00:04:20.940 get to save twenty thousand dollars it's like no no they are maybe getting those benefits in order
00:04:28.080 to not die but that's it and if you just cut the taxes on them they could probably all have jobs
00:04:33.920 and be doing really well right now but we can't have that now can we because then they wouldn't
00:04:38.000 have a reason to vote liberal oh but before i get into the next clips i just want to remind you guys
00:04:44.080 if you like the show make sure to leave a like on the video subscribe if you are not yet a subscriber
00:04:49.080 consider leaving a comment with what you think about all this and hit the join button if you
00:04:53.640 want to become a monthly contributor to the channel but let's just jump over to the next
00:04:59.440 liberal post this one is about the investments that the liberals are driving this isn't again
00:05:04.780 a jabby clip this is more of just setting up for later but the liberals are really trying to push
00:05:10.000 to this whole idea that they're they're bringing investment into the country because they had a
00:05:13.780 summit where people sat down and drank coffee and ate donuts and listened to carny talking about
00:05:18.540 investing and it's like just not happening at all like it's just so clearly not resulting in
00:05:24.960 anything. Nobody has committed any money. We did basically a multi-level marketing scheme seminar.
00:05:31.300 People showed up for the free breakfast. They left and you still haven't moved a single unit
00:05:36.040 of that miracle tea that you have stocked up in your garage. That was the investment summit with
00:05:40.940 Mark Carney. Investing Canada now has a clear mission to bring the world's capital here to
00:05:47.480 support Canadian projects, Canadian businesses, Canadian workers. Wow, I can't believe that's
00:05:54.740 really that's the goal we're not going to burn money just for the fun of it just dump it in the
00:05:59.200 hudson's bay and see if it floats like yes of course we want to bring in investment i always
00:06:03.700 hate how they always have him just say these dumb aspirational things and we're all supposed to be
00:06:09.940 impressed by it canadian workers who are turning our ambition into reality because our economic
00:06:16.700 transformation is happening on the construction sites and it's being built by the builders and
00:06:21.860 unions themselves. These are all acts of solidarity. Some very large, some very small,
00:06:30.320 but they're being repeated millions of times proving that together we can give ourselves
00:06:34.380 far more than any one could ever take away. How is it that we've still never really done
00:06:41.100 anything about interprovincial trade barriers on any product that we want to ship to the U.S. that
00:06:46.760 does not currently have a tariff on it, it is easier to move it to the U.S. than it is to move
00:06:51.460 it to another canadian province like he's had what is it 14 separate meetings with all the
00:06:57.440 premiers and that's never happened still and these acts of solidarity are making a statement to the
00:07:02.720 world that this is a new powerful and confident united canada oh my goodness he's he's just the
00:07:12.200 worst he's the worst oh this is act of solidarity is showing the world that we are a strong united
00:07:20.200 canada like what because we can put out press releases i'm pretty sure anyone can put out a
00:07:25.380 press release but this is what we're supposed to celebrate but now let's jump into the liberals in
00:07:30.420 qp posting clips you would assume the opposition would be posting it's kind of the opposition's
00:07:37.420 like it's kind of the opposition's purpose like it's their job to be just you know hacking away
00:07:44.460 at the government and trying to like you know trip them up make them look dumb show that they
00:07:50.340 don't know what they're doing call them out for a bad policy or call them out for some sort of
00:07:54.380 perceived impropriety or peace or some sort of corruption that's opposition this is the
00:08:00.020 government's own social media liberal party here says healthy meals healthy meals in school for
00:08:06.380 400 000 more kids across canada that's the real difference our national food program makes every
00:08:11.080 year and they might say well no we're just we're just posting this clip to promote the national
00:08:15.080 school food program which has been around for years now and you could just cut people's taxes
00:08:19.600 and they could be able to pay for their own kids food but we're in a ridiculous country where we're
00:08:24.220 going to basically uh emasculate fathers and just make mothers seem just like inept by taxing them
00:08:33.200 into the floor until they need their kids food paid for by the government if you just cut their
00:08:39.460 taxes they could do it themselves but we're going to cripple the families and then say hmm you're
00:08:43.840 not a very good parent you can't give your kids food you know we'll give your kids food we're such
00:08:48.500 great people that way but uh that's but again the liberals here are posting this because they want
00:08:53.280 to attack the conservatives not to promote the program programs existed for a while mr speaker
00:08:58.360 let it let the record show that the leader of the opposition the former member for carlton the
00:09:03.620 member for battle over pro foot just said that the 9.8 million more meals
00:09:09.080 served over 130,000 kids in schools in Ontario that's just bureaucracy or how
00:09:14.660 about the 58,000 kids from Alberta that have received school food that's just
00:09:19.040 bureaucracy mr. speaker he claims that he was raised by teachers and he doesn't
00:09:23.720 want to accept that a school food program is helping kids after 22 years
00:09:27.020 in this place you think that he should know he works for Canadians Canadian
00:09:30.920 kids are included in that mr speaker just like maximum smug over here he had to first do the you
00:09:38.600 know the former member of carlton now it's battle river crow what is it mr polyev is that your new
00:09:43.960 riding well well you didn't vote you don't you didn't vote for the national school food program
00:09:49.080 and you don't believe that 130 000 kids being fed is a good thing uh guffaw i can't believe you
00:09:56.760 disgusting i thought you were raised by teachers you you you they're probably going to disown you
00:10:01.640 now it's like yeah in theory we could just take everyone's money from them and the government
00:10:07.240 could provide them their food their school their transportation their medicine everything we just
00:10:14.040 live in full communism and then in theory he could get up and say so you're against us like buying
00:10:20.360 everyone a free car you're against free car program yeah we had to confiscate everyone's
00:10:25.240 money in order to buy everyone that crappy free car but we gave them a free car you're against
00:10:31.060 people being able to move around this country in their own motor vehicle like that's effectively
00:10:36.860 what the liberals are doing with that program but again that wasn't a promotion of anything
00:10:41.680 that was just an attack here's another one where they're not even hiding the ball here
00:10:46.620 because there's no policy to promote in the header it's just flames it's just flames apparently this
00:10:53.620 was super fire or whatever um you know or maybe they think that mckinnon here is super hot maybe
00:10:59.780 he's super hot maybe you like the way he looks the way the you know the fluorescent lights beam
00:11:05.700 off his dome there maybe he cuts a good figure at least he knows how to wear a proper tie other
00:11:11.160 than that other guy was talking about the other day wayne long but let's just get into this one
00:11:14.920 i hope this session of parliament mr speaker we won't see this pattern re-emerge call it the blame
00:11:21.720 canada pattern the hissy fit brigade we are in a trade war we did not provoke this trade war
00:11:29.980 sure okay you didn't put the tariffs in place to begin with i get it when we had dairy tariffs
00:11:35.520 and other things on them for a long time but you could say okay this was not the recent instigating
00:11:39.320 factor i can agree with that absolutely what have the liberals done to win the trade war or to get
00:11:45.780 a deal nothing bueller because it seems like they're crippling the canadian economy through
00:11:53.180 taxes and regulations and then they're like tie zip tying your hands together and say run out to
00:11:57.920 the field of battle and fight the americans can you do that also we're going to ban booze yes we
00:12:02.360 do ship them four times more booze than we ship them and they're now going to counter ban us it's
00:12:06.360 going to destroy us ignore that ignore that you don't want you don't want to fight the americans
00:12:11.660 you want us to lose the trade war like it's so pathetic we're in a trade war right now i'm sorry
00:12:17.400 like can the dog eat your homework this many days in a row until it stops being an excuse for sucking
00:12:22.720 at your job this trade war is illegal it is unjustified okay okay settle down spaz it's not
00:12:30.200 illegal is it stupid yes i'm against donald trump's tariffs on canada and all i think is just bad
00:12:36.700 policy. I think you use tariffs as a punishment against bad foreign actors like the CCP in China,
00:12:42.860 Iran, you know, Equatorial Guinea, Turkmenistan, places like that. I don't like just tariff for
00:12:48.840 tariff's sake. Make your own market more competitive, you know, lower taxes in America,
00:12:53.600 lower corporate taxes in order to be able to be more competitive. That's the better way instead
00:12:57.560 of tariffs. But like, they're illegal is like, no, they're allowed to. Like what? Illegal based
00:13:04.420 on what international law that doesn't mean anything and canada a sovereign country will
00:13:11.760 stand up and take the trade and other measures that are required to protect our people our
00:13:17.960 industries our workers we will never apologize for that and the blame canada brigade should sit
00:13:24.000 right down oh my goodness even even carny looks kind of annoyed and bored by that whole thing
00:13:31.700 because it was just so annoying and performative the blame canada brigade the hissy fit brigade
00:13:36.960 he wasn't responding to anything because notice that they didn't actually put the conservative
00:13:42.900 question at the front of that if you wanted to show that you destroyed her sure put that in the
00:13:48.020 header you know scuss steve mckinnon or whatever his name is he destroys you know insert conservative
00:13:55.160 mp's name right here and then show me like how their question and how you just dunked on him
00:14:00.660 The fact that the dunk was disconnected from what you were dunking on tells me, telegraphs to me, that you probably, that was just nonsense. You just rambled on, like sounded loud, and then just kind of like took a win by default by posting it and implying it was fire or whatever.
00:14:22.280 So, yeah, I don't understand that.
00:14:24.760 But let's jump over to the CBC segment right here, because I want to highlight this thing that's now causing the liberals some trouble.
00:14:31.360 Why are the liberals so antsy?
00:14:32.740 Well, it's their new signature policy for this session going up like a lead balloon because they're effectively going after the unions with their new policy.
00:14:41.580 Hey, I'm not a big pro-union guy, but it's kind of a big constituency for liberal voters.
00:14:47.720 You know, the Conservatives do really well with especially private sector union workers these days, but it's a constituency the Liberals want to do better with.
00:14:55.360 And if the Conservatives start picking up more of the votes, it helps them a lot in places like southwestern Ontario.
00:15:00.240 But this new Bill C-36 is not going over so well.
00:15:04.220 And I think this is why we're starting to see the Liberals get so feisty on social media against the Conservatives.
00:15:10.020 It absolutely reinforces the right to strike.
00:15:13.200 and alongside that the responsibility of employers and unions but employers to negotiate in good
00:15:22.240 faith and it creates transparency around those negotiating processes in the most strategic parts
00:15:28.360 of our economy. Prime Minister there says the Building Canada Strong Act reinforces the right
00:15:34.560 to strike. Unions though are pushing back raising concerns about what Bill C-39 could mean for
00:15:39.860 workers' rights. There are other people also criticizing this bill, environmental activists,
00:15:44.480 for instance. How is the government managing it? Could it complicate plans to build projects
00:15:48.960 faster? Let's bring in our Sunday Scrum. Catherine Levesque is a parliamentary reporter with the
00:15:53.140 National Post. Stephanie Levitz is a senior reporter with the Globe and Mail's Parliamentary
00:15:57.400 Bureau. And Jason Markosoff is a producer and writer with CBC News in Calgary. Good to see
00:16:01.200 you all this morning. Catherine, let's start with you on this. This is a giant piece of legislation
00:16:07.560 uh for so people know what we would call an omnibus piece of legislation and while i understand the
00:16:13.300 government's intent uh behind it how do you think they are doing in terms of managing uh expectations
00:16:19.860 and some of the questions around it so far if rosemary barton is having herself to basically
00:16:26.480 telegraph that this is looking bad trying to be on the right side of the issue she will bend over
00:16:31.320 backwards to try and be on carney's side but this thing is just like basically rubbing everyone
00:16:36.160 the wrong way. Conservatives, environmentalists, union people, people in Quebec, it's just bad
00:16:43.060 policy. Because again, you're trying to solve a, you're trying to untangle a bag of cats when you
00:16:49.680 could just lower taxes. And again, it may end up probably just doing absolutely nothing while
00:16:56.020 creating a bunch of friction with liberal interest groups. Yeah, I just found them very defensive
00:17:02.000 Every time there was criticism, you know, whether it was on the environmental bit, whether it was on the labor bit.
00:17:07.240 So I think it was quite interesting. But yes, I mean, this is a massive bill.
00:17:11.220 To be fair, we knew this was coming. This was something that they wanted to table in June before the end of the session.
00:17:17.900 There was some pushback. There was more consultation. So we knew this was coming right ahead.
00:17:22.940 But yeah, certainly. I mean, I think there's very reasonable people.
00:17:26.440 A lot of lawyers have gotten through this bill, have kind of fleshed it out.
00:17:29.580 And yeah, I mean, there are some concerns on the environmental bit. I know, you know, First Nations also have a lot of indigenous peoples overall also have a lot of preoccupations about this bill, but also the labor bit.
00:17:41.500 And I think that's maybe one of the bits that might be the most interesting to follow, because certainly we heard from unions this week saying that the red line is that they think this really will impede their right to strike.
00:17:55.040 They said, yes, there's a lot of good things in this bill, things that, you know, that are really welcome.
00:17:59.680 But ultimately, the minister, Minister Haidu, could decide to quash a strike out of the national interest.
00:18:06.240 So what does that mean? I think that's something that the government will have to spell out.
00:18:10.840 And I think they will also be facing a lot of pushback, even from the conservatives on that, which will be interesting to follow.
00:18:17.220 Yeah, it's not. I would say the main pushback from conservatives is going to be that all of this is just theoretical fluff.
00:18:25.040 Bill 36 is a lot about nothing in the sense that, do I want deregulation? Sure. This isn't deregulation. It's like throwing in other tools that allow the liberals to better manage the Jenga tower that is Canadian economic regulations. And in that is allowing the industry or jobs minister, whichever one it was, Patty Heiju, to be able to say, hey, we need this strike to end because it's the national interest for getting, you know, projects done or whatever.
00:18:54.920 Now, am I necessarily against that?
00:18:56.740 Not actually necessarily against that.
00:18:58.540 But it's just such a weird block to pull out of the tower.
00:19:02.420 It's almost like it's blaming unions for the slowness of the economy.
00:19:06.600 Now, again, I'm a bit of a critic of unions and how much it ends up bloating, you know, increasing costs and slowing down the economy and whatnot just based on how much power they often end up getting and the way that the irresponsible use it.
00:19:19.560 But blaming them for the economic slowness when it's probably just general regulations and taxes is quite the choice for the federal Kearney liberals. Their own major projects office is not getting anything done in time.
00:19:35.960 so he wheels about and smacks the unions instead and also that like all that he needs some tools
00:19:43.320 to do an end run around environmental regulations it's like how do you just get rid of the
00:19:48.280 environmental regulations like c69 and c48 rather than this bloated bill that you can gives you a
00:19:55.440 tool to get around them but it can still be legally challenged but you know it's what are
00:20:00.500 we doing the fact that nobody can really describe what bill 36 does is an indictment of bill c of
00:20:07.920 bill 36 uh steph what what do you think about the labor part of it we talked to the minister
00:20:13.440 minister haidu in the next hour and and she doesn't seem to think that this impedes anybody's
00:20:19.900 right to strike or take job action she actually thinks it does does the opposite i don't know
00:20:25.520 I'm not sure. I'm not sure if that's if that's right. But when Rosemary Barton is laughing at a liberal minister's response to criticism, it's not good.
00:20:38.800 Give me your sense about what how they're presenting it.
00:20:42.740 Yeah, it's interesting, right? I mean, I think we say on this program and others all the time,
00:20:46.740 politics is optics. And a challenge that this government seems to have with itself, and many
00:20:52.900 of the bills that it puts forward that relate, they use the term national interest, is that it
00:20:57.620 seems to always come from a business perspective first. It is never a people-centric perspective
00:21:04.340 first. And if you had flipped the framing of this bill, and you had framed it on the
00:21:08.340 number of provisions that i think unions are on side with some of them right about for example
00:21:13.780 enhancing some of um you know if the contract switches employers right they retain some
00:21:20.340 strength there that's relevant in airports where the government is seeking to privatize so if you
00:21:24.900 had marketed it that way as the government and sort of sought to sort of build more bridges
00:21:30.820 between workers and companies and why this is great for both of them maybe they would have
00:21:35.860 less of a political problem but this guy i just disagree with this like i'm sorry if this this
00:21:40.660 part of the video is dragging a little bit again bill c36 is just a swamp a mire to understand
00:21:47.540 like it it is as rosemary barton described it's just an omnibus bill it's it's going to be hundreds
00:21:52.020 of pages along uh you know slight changes in regulations or new new new tools that they're
00:21:58.340 giving to ministers and whatnot but you can't market something that's this bloated because you
00:22:04.420 you can't say yeah it is like 900 pages but just accept that there's goodies in there that you're
00:22:09.760 going to like it's like yeah but they immediately found things they don't like so now what there was
00:22:15.480 no marketing campaign that wouldn't have gotten them to notice the force you back to work policy
00:22:20.880 in there and by the way again I really don't like the threat of strikes from unions but I'm not a
00:22:25.540 liberal politician who is the one who's trying to pander to many of the groups who like to strike a
00:22:30.480 lot but anyways with all that being said i'm sorry we're not getting to jason marcus off saying his
00:22:36.320 thing but i feel like we don't need to hear from another cbc guy here uh but with all that said
