00:00:00.000 Well, isn't this just great? President Donald Trump has now put an import ban on Canadian
00:00:06.800 booze, motorcycles, and other goods. This is apparently what Prime Minister Mark Carney
00:00:13.740 and the Liberals want. Now, obviously, they'll never say they want to deepen the trade war with
00:00:19.360 the United States, and I'm not actually blaming Canada for the conflict having taken place,
00:00:25.200 But we have been playing all of the wrong cards up to this point.
00:00:29.780 Mark Carney marketed himself as the man who knew how to deal with Donald Trump and get a trade deal with the United States.
00:00:37.360 And he doesn't even seem like he's interested in working on it at all.
00:00:41.180 We're going to be getting into a bit later in this video him laughing off this entire issue.
00:00:47.240 But I just want to quickly get into the details with you here from the CBC article.
00:00:51.440 It says here,
00:01:21.440 to be subject to a 50% levy. My problem with all this when it comes to the Canadian side,
00:01:26.700 obviously, I don't like what President Donald Trump is doing here. But Mark Carney keeps
00:01:32.440 wanting to basically get into the punch for punch fight, where we go back and forth on who's
00:01:38.320 tariffing more on who. And it's just something that Canada cannot deal with. And it's not because
00:01:44.060 I'm not patriotic, and I don't believe in us enough. It's that the liberals have made our
00:01:48.520 economy weaker over time and so getting into this tit-for-tat trade conflict is really damaging for
00:01:56.080 us especially because we export a lot more to the United States than they export to us so this is
00:02:02.480 going to do a lot more damage to us especially when it comes to alcohol because Canada I believe
00:02:08.280 sends about three to four times more alcohol to the United States than the United States sends
00:02:14.360 to Canada, despite being a much, much bigger economy. It's just something that we happen to
00:02:19.520 specialize in. We send them a lot of stuff. They don't send much to us. So when they ban ours and
00:02:25.300 we ban theirs, well, obviously there is going to be a massive increduity here. I'm getting the
00:02:33.160 word wrong, but you get it. But it's not, it's incongruent. They are, they are obviously doing
00:02:38.000 more damage to us than we are to them, but the elbows up crowd doesn't want to put the American 1.00
00:02:42.100 alcohol back on the shelves or get rid of things like the stupid censorship policies or our dumb 1.00
00:02:48.200 China trade deal. If we did some of those things and got rid of supply management, we could actually 0.99
00:02:53.680 then push them to try and lower their tariffs. But everyone has the dumbest red lines on the planet 0.92
00:02:59.220 in this situation. I just want to go back to the article here for a bit. It says, 0.73
00:03:05.280 this is the latest move in an escalating trade war between Canada and the U.S. and comes after
00:03:10.520 Canadian retaliatory tariffs promised after trade talks fell apart last month, came into force on
00:03:16.100 Tuesday. Now, I will say, though, that I don't like that how the CBC says that trade talks fell
00:03:22.380 apart. Mark Carney walked away. And in fact, it seems like the evidence points to him being the
00:03:28.420 one who was trying to add last minute things, which in theory isn't wrong. Yeah, maybe you could go
00:03:34.420 past the date that he was going to drop the new tariffs and we could keep negotiating. But instead,
00:03:40.520 He made last-minute demands, apparently, and then when those got rejected or they didn't want to move on them right away, he then walked away, which just felt like a way for DeMarc Carney to basically end the talks because they're not politically beneficial to the Liberal Party.
00:03:56.660 The article here goes on to say,
00:04:26.660 Well, you know, Canada retaliated.
00:04:28.900 It's like, yeah, but you guys also put tariffs on us first.
00:04:32.240 At the same time, I hate when liberals bring that up because they always use it as an excuse to sit around and do nothing and wait for the Americans to come to us.
00:04:39.980 Now, we don't need to go to the Americans begging and, you know, scratching, crawling on the floor, trying to see if they can give us some small bone and then we'll remove all of our countermeasures.
00:04:52.180 You still play to win.
00:04:54.260 You still play for the best deal possible. But Carney finds every excuse to not even be in the room, not even be in discussions at all.
00:05:03.380 And I don't know how this actually helps the average Canadian whatsoever.
00:05:07.460 Now, I want to jump over to this video that came out yesterday where Mark Carney laughs this whole thing off.
00:05:15.800 Apparently, this is all very funny to him. And I know he's responding to Trump speaking hyperbolically in this particular moment.
00:05:24.260 But it's, you know, kind of not a good look that this has become a laughing matter between you taking jabs at Donald Trump and him taking jabs back at you.
00:05:33.340 But just watch this little exchange with a reporter.
00:05:36.960 President Trump said yesterday he thinks Canada will apologize in the next three to four weeks and say we're going to get rid of all the tariffs.
00:05:45.460 Mr. Navarro today told Canadians lobbying in Washington to get the hell out of the country.
00:05:50.220 What do you say in response to this?
00:05:51.540 i i take note of both comments how's that um i mean no no response um to either
00:06:00.820 no response except his laugh the start to indicate how ridiculous the whole thing was
00:06:06.780 and it's like okay maybe trump wanting an apology and for you to take down all your tariffs and 0.53
00:06:12.180 whatnot maybe just the attitude that he goes in with is kind of ridiculous but goodness people
00:06:18.440 are actually losing jobs left and right. In fact, we have factories shutting down. We have steel
00:06:25.900 plants that are at risk of shutting down right now. And this was the industry that the liberals
00:06:31.420 have been throwing money at to try and keep it healthy during this trade conflict. There's only
00:06:36.000 so much the government can do. Now, the thing is, you don't have to like it to know that we do need
00:06:42.360 to hammer out a deal. Nobody's basically demanding that the elbows-up crew think everything's
00:06:48.420 fair. I don't think it's fair. But try and get something that you can put up with for a couple
00:06:53.600 of years, preserve and grow the Canadian economy, and then when you have a different president,
00:06:59.580 then try and sign something with them. And by the way, I want to bring up something that was
00:07:04.640 really interesting that happened the other day. I believe this was also yesterday, yes. But it
00:07:10.220 kind of puts a bit of a metal spike in the tire of Carney's plans to try and get us into the
00:07:16.920 European Union because this is a story that will happen all of the time if we ever become a member
00:07:24.260 of the European Union, let alone an associate member that doesn't even get a vote. This is from
00:07:29.580 Newfoundland and Labrador PC Premier Tony Wakeham. He says, let me be clear, France has no authority
00:07:36.480 to fish snow crab on Canada's continental shelf and Newfoundland and Labrador will not stand for
00:07:42.800 The fishing industry is the backbone of our coastal communities and a livelihood of thousands of families across the province. I've spoken directly with Minister, who is this, Joan Thompson, and Canada does not support this action. I will work with Minister Thompson and anyone else I need in order to protect our fishery and make sure our position is heard loud and clear.
00:08:06.920 By the way, this happens all the time in the European Union.
00:08:10.680 Back when Britain was still part of the EU, they would have constant problems of fishing quota not being given to English fishermen in the Channel or even in the North Sea.
00:08:22.320 But French fishermen were allowed to fish with impunity.
00:08:25.820 They had quota in that area that the English and Scottish fishermen did not have, which is completely ridiculous because it's the water right next to where they live.
00:08:35.760 But French fishermen from the west coast of their country can come up all the way around and fish in those sort of English waters without any penalties.
00:08:46.160 And now the French are doing it on Newfoundland and Labrador's coast.
00:08:50.860 And if we sign on with the EU, that will happen way, way, way more often because we already have seen the precedent of what happened with the UK when they were still in it.
00:09:03.020 I want to now bring up this other video. I thought this was quite a good one from Michael Cooper in Question Period a couple of days ago. Again, I cannot stand that whenever something goes wrong in Canada, it's always the Americans' fault. It's always the fault of just global trends and whatnot.
00:09:22.840 There's never any specific thing that the government can do that they're not already doing.
00:09:28.740 And I thought that Michael Cooper did a really good takedown of the liberal position here in QP just a couple days ago.
00:09:37.100 Prime Minister is out of touch blaming everyone but himself for skyrocketing fuel prices.
00:09:43.140 He blames foreign factors.
00:09:45.000 Yesterday, he blamed the provinces.
00:09:47.160 But it's his industrial carbon tax and clean fuel standard that are hiking prices.
00:09:52.840 So, instead of playing the blame game, why doesn't the Prime Minister simply control what he can control
00:09:59.040 and lift all federal taxes on fuel until at least Canada Day, saving the average family $1,200?
00:10:06.300 I know the member opposite is slightly preoccupied with the words that he sees in his head
00:10:11.460 and the lines that he's given by his party, but it's a news...
00:10:14.740 Can I also just quickly say, I also, this is from another video I made a couple days ago,
00:10:19.760 I despise this whole narrative that the liberals are so prim and proper and it's the conservatives
00:10:25.540 always throwing jabs and whatnot and the liberals ignore them they do not at all the liberals are
00:10:30.220 actually some of the most petty thin-skinned people you will see in government they constantly
00:10:34.940 fire back in this way implying that everything a conservative says is inherently illegitimate
00:10:40.200 oh someone must have written that for you you're reading a script oh they always say this it's like
00:10:45.660 okay, but is it wrong? And I guarantee you, Michael Cooper's not being given a script from
00:10:50.680 somebody else. He's absolutely qualified to write his own QP questions. You know, him and his team,
00:10:56.880 generally speaking, your team will help you out because, you know, a lot of work in the day. But
00:11:00.700 like, yes, and whenever it comes to liberals, the first thing they do is try and undermine the
00:11:06.520 legitimacy of you asking questions in the first place. In his head and the lines that he's given
00:11:11.740 by his party. But it's a newsflash perhaps to him and not to anyone else in this House
00:11:16.260 that we're in a trade war. The Strait of Hormuz has been blocked. The oil price shocks that
00:11:21.260 Canada is experiencing are consistent with every other country in the world. What our
00:11:25.760 government is doing is suspending the fuel excise tax. We did it over the summer. Now
00:11:30.180 we've extended it by another five months. That's significant support at the pump for
00:11:34.220 Canadians. We're doing that while investing, making generational investments in our economy
00:11:38.760 to grow our economy which we'll stay focused on every step of the way that doesn't even like i
00:11:45.240 don't even understand how foreign conflicts can affect our domestic fuel prices that much we
00:11:51.240 don't even really export it to foreign markets maybe it's because we send fuel to the united
00:11:57.320 states and then they send it to foreign markets but if anything canada's market should be the
00:12:02.600 least affected and by the way anyone who produces the product should be the least affected their
00:12:08.280 local residents should be getting pretty cheap prices and then people overseas are usually the
00:12:13.420 ones who are going to be paying more. But no, Canadian prices are actually more expensive than
00:12:19.500 many of the places that require other countries to ship them fuel. Again, fuel adjusted for the
00:12:26.140 conversion rate is more expensive in Canada than it is in the United States. But that's just
00:12:31.400 something that I guess we just are not allowed to notice. And when you do point out that fuels
00:12:36.600 expenses they will point out that well it's the provinces they still have their fuel taxes on
00:12:40.940 well danielle smith removed hers so how about you guys remove the rest of your fuel taxes
00:12:46.640 oh well you know well you know and there's never even an answer after that they just kind of like
00:12:51.640 trail off and say that they're investing a lot in canadians oh we are making generational
00:12:57.100 investments in the canadian economy with new major projects that will be done in the next
00:13:01.320 10 000 years i don't really know but we've assigned a lot of money in the budget to these
00:13:05.780 things to be studied consulted on and have a marketing team make an entire documentary about
00:13:10.820 it like my goodness the alto high-speed rail line has already had more than i believe 400 million
00:13:17.600 dollars spent on just the consultation costs alone we have not laid down a single track they
00:13:23.760 haven't even chosen an actual path for it really yet and nobody likes it and we have somehow spent
00:13:30.360 more money than multiple cities use in their budgets every single year because like i i don't
00:13:38.520 know we just need to pay for francois philippe champagne the finance minister's wife to have a 0.80
00:13:44.440 like vp job at alto like the whole thing is just absolutely stinks to high heaven now we have their 1.00
00:13:51.000 stupid airport scheme where they're going to sell private airports uh to not even like their 0.95
00:13:57.180 public airports like crown controlled airports they are not they're now going to be privatized 0.99
00:14:04.080 but not actually privatized to like private companies or investors it's going to be privatized
00:14:11.540 by selling it to the Canada Strong Fund that the government runs as well as different pension
00:14:17.980 programs that are heavily invested in Brookfield no conflict of interest there guys nothing to see
00:14:26.200 here. Obviously, this is all just, you know, this is all just details. We're just being too,
00:14:32.720 we're being whiny by bringing any of this up. I just want to quickly go back to what Donald Trump
00:14:38.440 had said the other day in the Oval Office about the tariff situation. So when I had talked about
00:14:43.740 Carney earlier, what was being said, asked to him is that Trump has predicted that we will be back
00:14:51.140 at the table and getting to a tariff-free deal within a few weeks, and Carney laughed it off.
00:14:57.020 Now, the fact that he never denied it either does raise a red flag in my mind, is that is he going
00:15:03.560 to actually come back to the table? And he just couldn't answer that question, but he's acting
00:15:07.920 defiant. Because if you want to be tough and saying, no, no, no, we're not going to be
00:15:11.840 apologizing, we're not going to be capitulating, he could have said that, and he didn't.
00:15:16.260 What can I do? 0.60
00:15:17.240 Many, many people are going into Canada right now from other parts of the world and it's not a good situation. They're coming in totally unchecked, totally unvetted. 0.94
00:15:27.240 Oh, that wasn't the right one. That was also what he was talking about when it comes to migration over the border of Canada to the United States, that there's a lot of people entering the US through Canada, like terrorists and whatnot, which is actually partially true, but that's not what I wanted to highlight.
00:15:43.240 I wanted to highlight the Fox News clip here, where they were highlighting his answer about Carney getting back to the table.
00:15:51.420 I think what's going to happen is over the next three or four weeks, they're going to come to us and they're going to say, we're going to get rid of all the terms.
00:16:01.640 We're going to win everything. We even have Lake Ontario is now Lake America.
00:16:08.660 And that's been done, by the way. It's actually just got done.
00:16:11.880 told me it was just completed but um they're going to come in and they're going to say sir
00:16:19.420 we are sorry they've treated the united states very very badly i think a deal will be made but
00:16:26.700 it's going to be a fair deal now my whole thing with this is that it feels like canada is stuck
00:16:33.660 in neutral right now in so many different ways now i'm dealing with the bc provincial election
00:16:39.800 right now with 1BC, and it is extremely frustrating. And it has nothing to do with our team and how
00:16:47.300 we're operating. It's because the entire election's corrupt. The entire thing is determined by the
00:16:53.080 major parties, basically. David Eby and the NDP call the snap election. There's basically only
00:16:58.560 about nine days to get candidates and get their signatures to get them on the ballot. And the
00:17:03.640 only parties that can really field a lot of candidates are the two biggest parties, and
00:17:07.660 everyone is is like basically running around trying to get people to put their names on the ballot and
00:17:12.980 most people short notice can't do something like that federally it feels like there's you know the
00:17:17.920 liberals can do whatever they want and people will give them a uh you know a blank check you know
00:17:23.580 eventually i think the check's going to come due and a lot of things are going to fall apart but
00:17:27.740 that's the frustrating thing about the moment that we're in it feels like carney can kind of get away
00:17:31.980 with the fact that he's broken a lot of promises and nothing good is actually happening on the
00:17:36.440 federal front at the moment we have more reports coming out that oh the economy is going to slow
00:17:40.920 down in the in the third and fourth quarter it's like well you think you think it's going to slow
00:17:45.600 down who what crystal ball told you that was it because we're in a trade conflict that carney's
00:17:51.760 not trying to end and all of his solutions are just throwing money at the problem of course
00:17:57.000 we're probably going to start losing jobs we already lost jobs in august but the media and
00:18:02.260 a lot of just general voters are just happy to assume good things are happening. A lot of people
00:18:07.580 just kind of go along with whatever, you know, is the current thing. And then you have to wait until
00:18:13.020 bad stuff happens. And then people finally usually wake up, but only sometimes for a couple of years
00:18:19.040 at a time, then it's a big whole reset again. And you have to, you know, encourage people to be
00:18:24.080 critical thinkers once again. But, you know, that's my rant for today. Obviously this whole
00:18:29.620 BC things really annoying me. We're going to try and get as many people on the ballot in for the
00:18:34.560 1BC party in British Columbia. We will not be having a full slate. It's just the problem of
00:18:40.320 the tight timelines. You can find a great candidate, but they're on vacation or, you know,
00:18:45.220 they're going to be out of town or they just can't do it in nine days or whatever. And so we'll be
00:18:49.300 trying to field an actual conservative opposition in as many ridings as possible. And I would say
00:18:54.840 if you're in a riding that doesn't have a 1BC person and your conservative sucks, then just 0.98
00:18:59.120 stay home, which is probably the vast majority of the conservatives out there. Anyways, but with all 0.95
00:19:04.320 that being said, thank you guys for watching, and I'll see you all later.
