The National Telegraph - Wyatt Claypool - CBC Realizes Carney is getting PLAYED by Trump - Liberals Lie About Bridge Deal!

00:00:00.000 Hey guys, Wyatt Claypool here, and welcome back to the National Telegraph YouTube channel.

00:00:06.160 Not only did Prime Minister Mark Carney get played by President Donald Trump,

00:00:11.060 but he's also lying about it. But even the CBC knows that he failed at this point.

00:00:17.680 Before we get into the CBC news segment I want to play for you guys today, I just want to quickly

00:00:22.860 show you this excerpt from Bloomberg that conservative U.S. Canada relations critic

00:00:28.740 Shuvloy Majumdar highlighted. He shows here, just tell the truth, Prime Minister, your tails are

00:00:35.120 getting taller, from Bloomberg, and then he has a screenshot of an excerpt from the article.

00:00:40.960 This is about the Gordie Howe bridge deal that Prime Minister Mark Carney has been assuring us

00:00:46.520 all is just a 50-50 split of profits. Now that's still not good because that's a far cry from what

00:00:54.100 candle was supposed to get, 100% of all the bridge tolls, no matter if maintenance is included or

00:01:00.320 maintenance is not included, 100% of everything was what we're supposed to get. And he said,

00:01:05.680 well, no, we're only giving away 50% of profits after interest for the bridge and maintenance and

00:01:11.240 all this stuff. But Bloomberg here says, the agreement in principle covering the Gordie Howe

00:01:17.220 International Bridge appears to contradict earlier public remarks from Prime Minister Mark Carney,

00:01:22.760 And it shows what Canada conceded to get the President Donald Trump's administration to stop blocking the 1.5-mile bridge over the Detroit River.

00:01:33.880 Now, what Mark Carney was fibbing about was he pretended that there was all these extra costs that Canada got in order to start paying off the bridge construction costs.

00:01:45.860 No, we did not.

00:01:46.720 We can take some of the money we get from the split with the U.S. and put it towards that.

00:01:51.540 But other than maintenance costs, not that much is actually taken out before the 50-50 split is done.

00:01:58.360 And now in just a second, I want to take you guys over to a CBC News segment,

00:02:02.780 where again, it seems like even they are realizing that you can't really defend this.

00:02:07.960 He messed up. He oversold, and now he's having to lie to cover it all up.

00:02:12.660 But before we get into that, I just want to remind you guys,

00:02:15.540 if you like the show, make sure to leave a like on the video,

00:02:18.320 subscribe if you are not yet a subscriber,

00:02:20.400 and consider hitting the join button and becoming a member of the channel,

00:02:24.420 making it more sustainable for me and allowing me to be less reliant on the annoying YouTube algorithm.

00:02:30.660 Anyways, without further ado, let's go to my favorite man at the CBC, David Cochran,

00:02:37.620 hosting his show Power and Politics, talking about this bridge issue.

00:02:41.380 The new Gordie Howe Bridge is scheduled to open in just over a week

00:02:45.220 after Canada made a new agreement with a disgruntled United States.

00:02:48.740 Today, Prime Minister Mark Carney tried to offer some clarity on what the U.S. is getting

00:02:52.500 from the bridge that Canada alone paid to build.

00:02:56.160 It's not splitting the tolls of the bridge.

00:02:59.240 It is an agreement for 15 years to split net revenues.

00:03:05.560 Splitting of tolls, any sharing of the toll revenue won't happen until all of the debt,

00:03:11.320 all of the debt is repaid.

00:03:13.760 For the first few years, net revenues will be modest.

00:03:17.740 In fact, we expect them to be negative, you know, as traffic ramps up.

00:03:22.300 When the splitting begins, all of the portions that go to the U.S. government will be reinvested in economic development, regional economic development.

00:03:33.420 He keeps trying to massage it out to make it seem like we're just giving them like five bucks at the end of the day.

00:03:39.940 It's basically nothing.

00:03:42.140 In fact, in the first two years, there may be no net revenue, so it doesn't really matter.

00:03:47.500 They're basically saying, well, there's some costs for the bridge that are going to be paid first, then we split what comes after that.

00:03:54.040 Now, let's be clear, if there are no net revenues for a few years, that's also just a failure of the bridge in general that we put $6.4 billion into.

00:04:02.380 But once we do get net revenues after the bridge's maintenance fees and some other probably costs with security are paid for,

00:04:09.820 the fact that it's only a modest amount going to the U.S. means it's also only a modest amount

00:04:15.680 going to us, meaning that the $6.4 billion that taxpayers put into building this bridge is going

00:04:22.980 to take absolutely forever to pay off. But now let's get back to the panel that David Cochran

00:04:29.440 is about to cut to. Okay, so 50% in net revenues in the initial years, but what is that in dollar

00:04:36.000 figures? Well, that remains unclear. Meanwhile, we're learning that Canada's other concessions

00:04:40.600 to the United States may not have made any difference. Here is U.S. Trade Representative

00:04:44.060 Jameson Greer speaking yesterday. We just haven't seen a lot of movement. There are a couple things

00:04:49.620 that Canadians have done. You know, they had a digital services tax they proposed and rolled

00:04:53.860 back. They had an online streaming act where they wanted to force American companies to fund

00:04:57.640 Canadian companies that they rolled back. I'm glad they did that, but they don't really get

00:05:02.300 credit for doing something bad and then undoing it right that's just it's just good practice on

00:05:07.060 their part all right it's good practice on our part to go to the power panel we've got michelle

00:05:11.760 cadario who's deputy chief of staff to former prime minister paul martin andrew thompson is a

00:05:16.180 former ndp cabinet minister in saskatchewan and peter mckay is here he is a former federal

00:05:21.840 conservative cabinet minister uh michelle this i've already previewed this panel a little bit

00:05:28.460 But the funny thing is even the liberal on the panel kind of ends up just admitting that Mark Carney has not been doing a good job on trade.

00:05:39.140 Because as we have just heard from Jameson Greer here, it has been confirmed the U.S. has given up nothing in return for the concessions that Carney has made,

00:05:47.640 whether it's on the bridge, digital services tax, the tripling of the streaming tax that we rolled

00:05:53.340 back, whether it was us taking off tariffs on goods that we had applied it to that the US did

00:05:59.000 not have a reciprocal tariff on. We've been doing a lot of stuff where you think if we're going to

00:06:02.820 play hardball, you say, okay, maybe I shouldn't have done that, but I'm not taking it off now

00:06:06.920 until you guys do X, Y, and Z on your tariffs. And then we'll come to some sort of like mutual

00:06:13.160 weapons down sort of an agreement where we get to zero tariffs. No, we have not done anything like

00:06:18.840 that. Continued string of gives to the U.S. because of the leverage that they're exerting

00:06:24.720 on the bridge and other things. To hear that from Jameson Greer that you don't get credit for that

00:06:28.780 because you made a big mistake that you never should have made and we're not going to give you

00:06:32.200 credit for undoing it. What does that tell us about where things are? No, it's not Jameson Greer

00:06:37.460 in the U.S. not giving us credit. It's that Mark Carney didn't get credit. He failed to get credit

00:06:43.320 for it. That is the problem. They're acting as if it's just the world according to the Americans,

00:06:48.180 and if the Americans say you don't get credit for it, that's just how it is. No, no, no.

00:06:51.880 You fight for it. You contend for credit. You contend for concession on the other side for

00:06:56.700 you to make that concession. But the way even in this segment where they are acknowledging that

00:07:01.900 the liberals aren't getting anything done, they still make it seem, well, it's those bullying

00:07:06.960 americans not letting us win as if we're like the child of the americans hoping that our dad lets

00:07:13.380 us score a goal uh in this relationship and these these talks well you know everything's difficult

00:07:19.160 like that's that's the hardly the the most uh thoughtful of a response but seriously everything

00:07:25.480 is difficult with him not just for canada but for everybody in the entire world um and no no is it

00:07:32.740 Is it somewhat difficult?

00:07:34.260 Yes.

00:07:34.800 The world's difficult.

00:07:36.540 Claudia Scheinbaum, president of Mexico, they're getting stuff done.

00:07:40.460 President of, or the prime minister of Japan, getting stuff done.

00:07:44.320 France, England, everyone.

00:07:46.920 Everyone is further along with getting a deal or has gotten a deal with the United States.

00:07:51.860 Well, Canada has been sitting here comatose.

00:07:54.340 You can't say, ah, it's difficult out there, when you are here basically being a spokesperson for Prime Minister Mark Carney, the man who said he knew how to deal with Donald Trump. He has done it before.

00:08:08.740 Does he? Because he's currently the furthest behind in the class.

00:08:13.020 He is finishing last in his class for Western countries trying to get trade deals with the United States.

00:08:19.840 Mexico isn't even exactly a full Western country, and they are miles ahead of Canada.

00:08:25.160 They're actually getting meetings with the Americans.

00:08:27.300 They're actually playing hardball, you know, taking a little bit but having to give a little bit,

00:08:32.500 moving towards a better deal than what they had at the start of the tariffs.

00:08:36.180 our deal is literally worse since the start of the tariffs as actually i believe peter mckay

00:08:41.780 makes that point which which is very good and uh you know i would separate out the bridge from

00:08:46.180 from uh some of the trade irritants and and uh and other issues you know i think that part of it is

00:08:52.760 just posturing to be quite honest you know but why should we separate out the bridge that's the

00:08:57.940 problem it was a missed opportunity to get something in exchange for the revenue sharing

00:09:02.920 on the bridge why not get something but we act like every work if you compartmentalize everything

00:09:08.920 i guess we can't blame mark carney for sucking on trade because every single little thing that

00:09:14.280 happens is just taken as a it's just a little episode in this entire screenplay that's going

00:09:20.040 on like no it's all tied together and he's been failing consistently they're never going to say

00:09:25.240 yep they've done everything that we want and so we're going to be give a have a big give first

00:09:30.360 First of all, I don't think that Jameson Greer is empowered to be able to actually say that, right?

00:09:36.860 I think he has conceded, and I think we all know only one person, Donald Trump, is going to sign a deal for the U.S.,

00:09:43.940 and it's going to be at the timing of his choosing when he wants to do it.

00:09:48.160 And if it's satisfactory to Canada, then Mark Carney's going to sign on.

00:09:52.380 So, you know, I think...

00:09:53.820 Is he? I don't feel... I feel like by the time we're getting to the point where Mark Carney might sign something,

00:09:58.140 He'll just forget how to operate a pen or something like that. 0.87

00:10:01.140 He's that incompetent.

00:10:02.660 But we, again, I hate how they always put the attention back on to President Trump, as if that is the only factor relevant in this entire scenario, not who our own prime minister is, who got elected because people believe that he may actually know how to do this.

00:10:17.520 I think that in the interim, I think Jameson Greer is doing his job, trying to position the U.S. as the strong and mighty, and that Canada has to kind of come to its knees and keep giving in.

00:10:33.480 But I don't think Mark Carney's biting, and I don't think Mark Carney's bit all along, and I think that...

00:10:39.200 Mark Carney hasn't done anything, so apparently we should be throwing him a ticker tape parade.

00:10:44.980 Oh, you know, he hasn't taken their bait.

00:10:46.920 He hasn't been biting.

00:10:50.660 And how much further ahead are we from him doing nothing?

00:10:54.680 Wild strategy.

00:10:56.420 After more than a year of it not working, can we try something else?

00:11:00.520 Like, I don't know, maybe I'm just not a sophisticate like Mark Carney is,

00:11:04.360 but maybe swinging at something in this baseball game would be a good idea.

00:11:08.980 You know, I think that in the end, they are confident in their approach.

00:11:15.820 I think that there's been some glimmers of hope and perhaps some conversations on the side.

00:11:21.280 And, you know, I'm actually a little bit more optimistic now than I was a month ago.

00:11:26.320 Oh, my goodness.

00:11:27.320 The continuing failure is making her feel more optimistic.

00:11:31.600 What about this last month has made her more optimistic?

00:11:34.260 Because what she described there was literally nothing.

00:11:38.240 Carney has done nothing, and now I'm more optimistic.

00:11:41.220 Yeah, I mean, that could be a very granular improvement.

00:11:45.180 You don't know how to test my scale.

00:11:46.900 Yeah, exactly. 1.00

00:11:47.460 Even David knew that was stupid. 0.99

00:11:49.720 Exactly. 1.00

00:11:50.220 On a scale of 1 to 10, negative 3.

00:11:52.740 But, you know, Peter, on this, yes, the bridge is kind of separate and apart from the broader trade negotiations.

00:11:58.660 It wasn't one of the irritants.

00:12:00.500 It kind of became a target of opportunity to exert leverage, which is what it is.

00:12:04.820 Just what do you make of what we're seeing there, that we're reassured the concession on the bridge is minimal, if not nothing, but with no math to back it up, while digital service attacks and other things don't seem to have won any goodwill south of the border?

00:12:19.360 I hate how David just takes whatever the liberals word is for it. Well, you know, it's a modest if not, you know, very small concession that has been made. It's like, it's a concession. It's actually very symbolically bad that we let them block a bridge in order to renegotiate a deal where they got something despite not having to invest. That was symbolically embarrassing. But I will just let Peter McKay go here because he is actually rational on this panel.

00:12:46.840 He is the one rational person present.

00:12:49.740 Yeah, and that's why I don't think you can separate it out, David, in my opinion.

00:12:54.940 And what's biting is tariffs on steel and aluminum and cars.

00:12:58.920 So that that cumulative effect is starting to, you know, really impact our economy.

00:13:04.680 And it's also impacting, by the way, the trade deficit, which is something that the Americans have been concerned about for some time.

00:13:11.680 You know, I think the issues around the bridge are still, frankly, somewhat confusing.

00:13:15.780 I've been trying to sort through this today and figure out what exactly it means.

00:13:20.840 You know, operating deficits, 15 years, when it's paid for.

00:13:24.480 Well, how do we know when it'll be paid for?

00:13:26.540 What it boils down to is that Canadian taxpayers laid out $6.4 billion,

00:13:32.220 and we're going to be splitting revenue at some point for an asset that Canadians own, presumably.

00:13:39.120 I mean, all of this translates to, you know, ironically, elbows down on Mr. Elbow's bridge.

00:13:47.320 I'm quite surprised, actually, that this has played out the way it has.

00:13:52.000 And let's look back at the bigger picture here in terms of where we are in these negotiations. 0.79

00:13:58.600 The Mexicans, you know, we've talked about this before.

00:14:01.180 Many have seemed to be in a much better place in terms of their negotiations.

00:14:05.820 You know, I can't quite grasp some of the moves, including the recent hiring of Hillary Clinton's staffer.

00:14:14.520 You know, maybe that's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

00:14:17.380 We know somebody in the White House takes these things very personally and how he feels about Mrs. Clinton.

00:14:23.620 So I don't quite get the strategy or the plan as it's being rolled out.

00:14:29.420 We're not in a good place.

00:14:30.880 we're certainly further away from where we were when Mr. Carney took office in terms of his

00:14:36.480 guarantees that he would get a deal and he could handle Trump. Okay, I want to get to Andrew first

00:14:40.780 just a couple of things. Perfect. Perfectly said by Peter McKay. Because again, where is the win

00:14:46.500 here? We keep being told no, no, no, guys, it's being handled. Mark Carney said he's a professional.

00:14:51.840 Of course, he knows what he's doing. Of course, he knows what he's doing. But then can we actually

00:14:55.840 go through can we actually do the analysis and actually find and evaluate based on each instance

00:15:04.300 of negotiations with the americans every time we've gone to dc every time we've conceded something

00:15:11.200 what for what forward momentum have we gotten from all that apparently we have this like rocky

00:15:17.740 three rope-a-dope situation going up where and it doesn't doesn't work in real life just letting

00:15:23.040 your opponent wail on you and punch you in the face for like a year doesn't in fact tire them

00:15:29.180 out allowing you to take the victory you in fact will be beaten to a pulp before they get exhausted

00:15:35.460 and that is what is happening on trade we enter with no plan other than basically we're going to

00:15:41.940 turtle up and just let the americans wail on us we're constantly conceding giving them things to

00:15:47.760 get a little distance and then what what are when when are we throwing a punt when are we

00:15:53.660 doing anything when are we playing hardball this is coming from the elbows up people who apparently

00:15:58.880 want wanted they elected carney to ride down to washington dc over the border over the ambassador

00:16:06.180 bridge or the newly built gordie howe bridge riding on the turret of an abrams tank to go

00:16:11.520 down to the white house and slap trump across the face that's the attitude that's the sort of

00:16:17.100 tone that mark carney was elected into by the liberals both in the leadership as well as in

00:16:23.480 the federal election and how has that materialized in anything you know he's done some stuff despite

00:16:29.020 the americans but it's never even been good for canada like signing deals with the chinese where

00:16:34.160 they agree to maybe take off the canola tariffs for like a year and then we let them have multiple 0.94

00:16:40.900 years of access for dumping EVs into our economy. He's an idiot. That's all we can really say here. 1.00

00:16:48.020 Mark Carney is bad at his job. You would fire him if he was doing a merger or an acquisition

00:16:55.820 for you and he was on your negotiating team. You would say he's useless. Get out of my office. 0.99

00:17:01.540 Fill in for the audience at home. The hiring decision, Peter referenced there, is a senior

00:17:06.720 your official political staffer in the prime minister's office, an American who worked with

00:17:11.080 the Democrats, now chief operating officer, and I believe maybe deputy chief of staff in the

00:17:15.960 prime minister's office. Where we are, Andrew, I think on the bridge is there's two deals at play

00:17:20.480 here. The Carney deal and the Harper deal is how I'll simplify it, right? So the Carney deal is

00:17:24.660 for 15 years, sharing 50% of either net revenue or profit after you deduct a certain amount of

00:17:30.440 expenses and sharing it 50-50 with the United States. But in like the first five, six years,

00:17:35.460 as you're seeding the infrastructure, as they say, there may not be any profits or there may not be

00:17:39.840 anything to share. And then the Harper deal is the original deal that when it's all paid off

00:17:44.600 and Canada's costs are recovered, you split the tolls 50-50 with the state of Michigan. So that

00:17:49.440 is what the prime minister is talking about there. We got an idea of how that will work. It's a little

00:17:54.820 bit murky on the other stuff. And maybe, Andrew, I don't know, they don't want to be more specific

00:17:58.620 until the bridge is actually open and they don't start putting things in. Oh yeah, they just don't

00:18:02.840 want to be more specific until the bridge is open no they don't want to be more specific because

00:18:07.720 they're embarrassed about what the deal says to the ecosystem that could just antagonize south

00:18:13.800 of the border just to fill that in for the audience anyway Andrew your thoughts on where we are on

00:18:17.780 this well I think that is you know a helpful way to look at it I mean the original deal signed by

00:18:22.240 Harper was a bizarre deal that we would front all the costs on this bridge with the assumption that

00:18:27.300 somehow we were going to get paid back over time yes yes no no that's not a bizarre assumption

00:18:33.340 and apparently we're now blaming Stephen Harper for Mark Carney screwing something up Stephen 0.99

00:18:39.500 should have known that Mark Carney is is stupid and he would have messed it up he Harper shouldn't 0.98

00:18:45.900 have never have actually built a bridge he shouldn't have done anything because as soon as 1.00

00:18:51.400 it came into the hands of Mark Carney he was gonna like burn it like the deal was not bizarre

00:18:56.020 we were going to front all the costs, but we were going to take the vast majority of the benefit.

00:19:01.280 We were going to take 100% of the tolls, and the Americans, their benefits, they didn't have to

00:19:06.820 build it in the first place, but they don't get any of the extra benefits of being in control of

00:19:12.000 the bridge and getting the tolls and whatnot. No, Harper did the right thing. Carney messed up,

00:19:18.340 but this NDP hack is going to get on here and be like, well, Harper, this is a bizarre deal,

00:19:23.420 a bizarre deal to get another trade route open with the United States and then have Mark Carney

00:19:29.680 completely screw up the implementation of it once the bridge was built? Not normally the way you

00:19:34.820 would do a binational infrastructure project like that. Not to say that the bridge, I mean,

00:19:39.560 I think we all recognize here in Southern Ontario how important that link is in terms of maintaining

00:19:45.340 supply chains, in terms of expanding our economic opportunities. But it was an odd deal to strike

00:19:51.460 to start with. All that said, it hasn't made any better by the looks of it in terms of what's been

00:19:57.740 recently negotiated, except for the fact that it is closer to getting opened. And if that is the,

00:20:02.960 you know, the end game for what Canada wants and needs, then I'm assuming that the Prime Minister

00:20:07.500 is working on that. I am surprised. This is mealy-mouthed nothing. So he sideswipes Harper

00:20:13.520 at the start to kind of soften the blow when he basically says the negotiations on this haven't

00:20:18.000 been great uh but but then assures us carney's working on it guys so don't don't panic carney's

00:20:24.340 working on it in some vague way prize to be honest that again on this this is the second or third

00:20:29.560 time the prime minister has been put on his back foot by the by the americans on this whether it's

00:20:34.160 been on opening dates whether it's been on the language around the deal and the fact that he

00:20:38.840 continues to front this rather than actually put up an official who can say with some certainty

00:20:43.760 and authority this is what's actually in the deal i don't understand the the strategy the political

00:20:48.640 strategy i wanted to wear this uh it is a it just doesn't look like it is uh is finished and the

00:20:57.040 fact the prime minister had to back down on what he had said only a week ago about how this was

00:21:00.960 structured or maybe we were all too dense to understand what he was uh was laying out uh is

00:21:05.920 problematic because it causes people to scratch their head and go i don't really know what the

00:21:09.520 the prime minister is up to and that is i think politically more problematic than whatever lays

00:21:14.800 in the deal itself yeah it's a deal negotiated by dominica leblanc and mark wiseman explained

00:21:19.280 by the prime minister but technically gregor robertson the minister of housing and infrastructure

00:21:23.360 is the minister responsible for it and i've been hassling everybody for clarity and we have not

00:21:27.520 gotten it uh michelle give you the last word on this uh because i know you wanted to respond to

00:21:31.440 the elbows comment but just to explain some of the motivation lisa wright was on the show the

00:21:35.200 other day and she said she spoke to people connected with the bridge and for every six

00:21:38.800 months has stayed closed it delays it getting to break even a payback by a full year so the one

00:21:43.440 to two ratio is is a rough one there exactly like it is in our interest very much as we did front

00:21:49.840 this as prime minister harper put that that money up to get this thing open so there is some some

00:21:55.840 sort of revenue and some sort of income coming back to pay back taxpayers and so uh you know

00:22:02.240 anyone can say that there was a better deal to be had and that but you know really was there

00:22:06.400 yes yes there was the original deal was the better deal and if you're saying well it's

00:22:13.720 unavoidable because trump wants something else then use it to get another concession and even

00:22:18.760 barring that you're a politician you don't know understand how to pull off some political theatrics

00:22:24.700 i would walk the length of the bridge as prime minister if trump was not letting it be open

00:22:30.020 i would take my team and i would do a big walk down the bridge and i get to the other side i'd

00:22:35.220 say, why the heck isn't this thing open? And I would go after the fact that this is going to be

00:22:40.680 hurting the state of Michigan and the rest of the United States, especially in the Midwest,

00:22:45.320 if this thing stays closed and it doesn't open up more economic opportunities. Make Trump wear it

00:22:50.840 in the midterms if he's not letting a new trade corridor open. That would be politically smart.

00:22:56.400 But it's like Mark Carney only was born yesterday and doesn't know how to get a concession in favor

00:23:02.020 of this concession. He doesn't know how to stick to his guns and just say, we're going to open it

00:23:05.820 up anyways. And he also just basically doesn't even know how to lie very well, because his

00:23:10.840 attempts to cover this whole thing up have only brought more attention to the whole thing. But

00:23:15.440 no, no, there was a better deal here. But apparently, Michelle Cardero here, I don't

00:23:24.900 now i'm bad at saying people's names people uh like we can just assert although this this probably

00:23:31.780 was the best we could have gotten like i guess i guess if you say it michelle apparently it's true

00:23:38.100 anyone can say that there was a better deal to be had and that but you know really was there

00:23:42.740 um and when the you know i think when the problems of the straighter home reviews we get kind of uh

00:23:47.380 sidelined and sideswiped and and and let's just attack uh canada on on whatever issue might be at

00:23:53.220 at the top of the desk. She sounds more incoherent than I usually sound. What is this? How did that

00:23:59.000 have anything to do with the Strait of Hormuz? So, you know, I think that I have no doubt that

00:24:05.620 the Prime Minister is being very pragmatic on this and looking for being able to get some kind

00:24:10.820 of return and the best return that we can. And getting this open. And I think, as Andrew said,

00:24:17.960 the free flow of goods and just the benefits to the economy are going to be more than paying for

00:24:25.980 the bridge. Well, look, the prime minister did announce another big deal today, this with dollar

00:24:29.800 amounts and specifics, because the prime minister announced a big defense purchase, $2 billion to

00:24:34.460 buy 190 made-in-Canada armored vehicles. And the prime minister says it's just another piece of a

00:24:39.740 bigger plan to grow the economy. There's a common thread. Okay, let's move on from him screwing up

00:24:45.640 on trade because apparently we're going to pay ourselves to make some military vehicles. And by

00:24:50.280 the way, that's good. We should be improving our military, actually investing in real hardware,

00:24:55.560 military vehicles. I'm fine with the submarines. I'm fine with the jets. Do that. Now, there was

00:25:00.280 some issues around the procurement of the submarines because I think we snubbed a German

00:25:06.600 firm in favor of somebody else. I don't really know that one. Sounds like it's like someone

00:25:11.580 whose policy expertise is that area to talk about but guys the cbc like even the cbc knows

00:25:19.580 mark carney screwed up even the people who were trying to flack catch for him there michelle and

00:25:24.720 andrew even they were having to subtly kind of acknowledge the fact that yeah we're not really

00:25:30.380 getting anything from here the host the host david cochran even he was basically like accounting for

00:25:37.360 all the things that he's conceded and gotten nothing in return it feels like we have no trade

00:25:41.360 momentum and all that. And although they still make excuses, they know he messed up on this one.

00:25:47.300 Carney knows he messed up on this one. If he was proud about it, he would have just released what

00:25:53.540 the deal was. Now we're having to learn what the deal was from American media sources, which is

00:26:00.840 actually kind of par for the course at this point. Every time we get an update of where canned U.S.

00:26:06.080 trade issues are at it's always coming from the south of the border it's always a u.s trade

00:26:11.740 representative it's a u.s journalist who's basically revealing the fact that our trade

00:26:16.960 talks have completely stagnated if you ask dominic leblanc our u.s trade uh like the he's a minister

00:26:24.020 of i forget whatever he else he's minister of but uh i think he's like labor and then also u.s

00:26:29.580 relations but dominic leblanc every time he's asked about it says absolutely nothing

00:26:35.660 he talks but nothing is said he'll just talk about how oh i'm going down there and meeting

00:26:40.840 with my counterparts and of course there's i there's issues that we're trying to iron out

00:26:46.300 and all that stuff and and then trade representatives from the u.s come out and say yeah we aren't even

00:26:50.580 at the third 3 000 foot view yet we're not even at 30 000 feet we are simply we are not even we are

00:26:58.440 at we aren't even where the mexicans are which they said is that the 30 000 foot view they

00:27:03.800 generally know what they're going to do now they're going to hammer out details we're not even at the

00:27:07.840 general overview of what we want to do because mark carney is scared of donald trump it is that

00:27:15.520 simple he is scared of donald trump he does not want to get into the ring with donald trump and

00:27:21.740 lose a negotiation because mark carney's political brand is the idea that he's the man to stand up to

00:27:27.720 trump now he can't stand up to him but at the very least he can make sure he doesn't look like he

00:27:33.620 actually got defeated by him in person. So he makes these concessions to keep Trump at arm's

00:27:39.200 length, consistently making concessions that are bad for the country, but are not so big yet

00:27:45.180 that it's causing the elbows-up crew to abandon him. But that day will eventually come. Now,

00:27:51.560 they're not going to go and vote conservative. Some of them will. I think what he's going to

00:27:55.180 start doing is having a lot of his votes start sloughing off onto the NDP, the bloc, and the

00:28:01.440 green side of the political aisle. That's what I think we're going to be seeing in upcoming

00:28:05.880 by-elections. Now, there may be absolutely no change in the by-elections. Whoever won the

00:28:10.660 ridings last time are going to win them this time. But at the very least, I think you're going to see

00:28:16.100 a tightening between the liberal vote and the conservative vote or the liberals and whoever

00:28:20.880 else was in second place in those ridings. And the conservatives and NDP who used to occupy

00:28:27.200 Other writings are up for grabs. I think those ones are probably going to stay with those parties. But it's the areas like North Vancouver, Capilano that I've been promoting the candidate Stephen Curran in, where you might see that shift where liberals used to be at 57%. And now they're at, you know, 45 or something like that. Maybe the conservatives come in at 40 or even 38. But it's going to be a narrowing of the actual difference, because everything the liberals ran on in 2025, it's just not coming true.

00:28:57.200 Even the pipeline is not coming true. The FNLC, the First Nations Leadership Council, other different AFN, like AFLN, whatever, Aboriginal chief groups, they're all anti-pipeline. This thing is never going to happen.

00:29:14.260 And if it does, it has nothing to do with what Carney is doing in these years.

00:29:19.520 These years are going to be completely irrelevant to whatever pipeline eventually gets done.

00:29:24.560 Because this is just going to be meandering consultations forever, never actually getting to a point.

00:29:31.820 Anyways, that should be it for this video, guys.

00:29:34.480 I just quickly want to do what I've been doing for the past few videos.

00:29:38.640 And it's just letting you guys know, I am potentially going to run for the UCP nomination, running for Danielle Smith's UCP in the provincial election in Calgary for the riding of Calgary Curry.

00:29:51.760 So if you live in that little red area in the city of Calgary, sign up at my website, wyattclaypool.com.

00:29:59.140 I have pinned at the top of the comments.

00:30:01.400 Usually every day, every time I do this, like one or two people's households end up signing up onto the list.

00:30:07.080 And I try and give people a call.

00:30:08.640 and just sort of, you know, let them know, you know, thanks for signing up and all that stuff.

00:30:12.540 And I give you the lay of the land on what's going on currently when it comes to the UCP

00:30:17.240 nomination, the provincial election, and my general strategy to try and win that riding back

00:30:22.160 from the NDP. Anyways, with all that being said, thank you guys for watching. Make sure to like,
