Summary

Jagmeet Singh and the other party leaders react to Justin Trudeau stepping down as Prime Minister and the prorogation of parliament that comes with it, and the reaction from the other major parties to Trudeau's decision to resign from office.

Transcript

00:00:00.000 So in the aftermath of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announcing his intention to resign from office in March after a liberal leadership race and after the prorogation of parliament that Trudeau simultaneously declares ends, the other party leaders obviously have big thoughts about this.
00:00:17.580 And so I want to take you through both what Jagmeet Singh and the NDP are saying, as well as what Pierre Polyev and the Conservatives are saying, because I think the contrast really matters here, seeing how unprepared and pretty classless the NDP is about this whole thing, and how focused and sharp Pierre Polyev is, even as this news was breaking less than an hour ago.
00:00:40.580 Polyev was able to make a video. Jagmeet Singh was not. This was Jagmeet Singh's announcement. Yes, he said he's going to speak in front of the media later, but later is not now.
00:00:52.000 Even as I am speaking, and it's been over an hour since Trudeau has announced his resignation, Singh is still not going to speak for another two hours.
00:01:00.540 He just released this thing, saying, same statement on the resignation of Trudeau.
00:01:05.620 So, leader of Canada's NDP, Jagmeet Singh, issued the following statement in response to Justin Trudeau's resignation.
00:01:12.340 Justin Trudeau's liberals let down Canadians. You were there with them, letting people down. You guys were partners in crime on it.
00:01:19.440 This whole thing is going to be hypocritical, so that's my one injection into this statement.
00:01:24.140 But Singh goes on to say, they let you down on home prices. They let you down on health care.
00:01:29.500 They let you down by allowing corporate greed to run wild. Even with the country facing another serious blow to Canadian jobs and our cost of living, this time for Donald Trump, they're still focused only on themselves and their political fate.
00:01:44.000 The problem is not just Justin Trudeau. It's every minister that's been calling the shots.
00:01:48.620 It's every liberal MP that looked down their nose at Canadians who are worried about high costs or crumbling health care.
00:01:55.360 The liberals do not deserve another chance, no matter who is the leader.
00:02:00.400 Canada's middle class families have the biggest fight just ahead.
00:02:03.640 Here, polyos conservatives will cut from people to give more to CEOs.
00:02:07.080 What do you mean give more to CEOs? You mean reduce taxes?
00:02:10.200 That's not giving. And by the way, that's good for everyone.
00:02:14.440 They will cut health care, pensions, dental care, and more.
00:02:17.620 Well, those were things you helped the liberals pass.
00:02:20.680 Jagmeet Singh's such a hypocrite.
00:02:22.180 So he does things with the liberals, and it's a big NDP accomplishment, but the liberals have also failed by Singh's estimation, even though he's been rubber stamping everything along this path.
00:02:35.620 Anyways, okay, I'm interrupting this way more than I intend to do.
00:02:39.120 I've been a fighter my whole life. Oh, have you, Jagmeet?
00:02:42.900 This time, a working class movement of fighters is growing all around me.
00:02:46.760 People who oppose callous conservative cuts to health care and everyone who opposes rich getting richer while everyone else falls further behind.
00:02:53.880 That's not happening.
00:02:55.000 I'm asking them all to stand together this time to stop the conservatives and build Canada's first government for working people.
00:03:01.160 Okay, good statement, Jagmeet. Extremely sanctimonious, but what can you expect from the NDP?
00:03:08.360 And when I said that wasn't happening about people getting poorer and the rich getting richer, the point of it is that rich people are not getting richer.
00:03:14.940 The entire economy is losing right now.
00:03:17.860 But Jagmeet Singh has to make everything class issue because he is a socialist.
00:03:21.460 Anyways, let's contrast this with an actual good statement from a leader.
00:03:27.620 Here is Pure Polly of reacting to the news.
00:03:30.120 And I'll just unplay it if it's full because I think it is worth watching the full statement.
00:03:34.600 And obviously, I don't need to pause it as much because I don't think he's going to say something deeply hypocritical like Jagmeet.
00:03:39.660 Good day.
00:03:41.320 Canadians desperate to turn the page on this dark chapter in our history might be relieved today that Justin Trudeau is finally leaving.
00:03:50.280 But what has really changed?
00:03:53.680 Every liberal MP in power today and every potential liberal leadership contender fighting for the top job helped Justin Trudeau break the country over the last nine years.
00:04:04.800 All liberal politicians actively worked to pass into law the job-killing inflationary carbon tax, a tax that Carbon Tax Carney endorsed in his book.
00:04:15.480 All supported a law quadrupling the tax over the next five years.
00:04:20.660 All voted for or actively supported Trudeau's out-of-control spending, debt, and immigration.
00:04:26.360 All passed Trudeau's housing policies that doubled the cost of homes.
00:04:30.640 All liberal politicians helped pass catch-and-release bail and house arrest for the most rampant free offenders.
00:04:36.540 Policies that increased violent crime 50%, gun crime 116%, and hate crime by 250%.
00:04:45.220 So given that liberal MPs and leadership contenders unanimously supported everything Trudeau has done,
00:04:52.200 why dump him now, right before an election?
00:04:55.280 Have they had a change of heart?
00:04:56.840 Is it because they feel guilty that they doubled housing costs, hiked taxes, unleashed crime, broke immigration,
00:05:02.880 forced a quarter of the population into poverty?
00:05:04.900 No.
00:05:07.420 They continued supporting Trudeau when he did all of those things.
00:05:10.680 No, their only objection is that he is no longer popular enough to win an election and keep them in power.
00:05:16.360 They want to protect their pensions and paycheck by sweeping their hated leader under the rug months before an election
00:05:23.280 to trick you and then do it all over again.
00:05:28.320 Now, while leaderless liberals focus on saving their jobs and fighting each other for power,
00:05:33.540 the country spirals out of control, an out-of-control housing emergency, an out-of-control migrant crisis,
00:05:40.520 an out-of-control $62 billion deficit, not to mention tariff threats from the United States.
00:05:47.140 Oh, and another NDP liberal carbon tax hike kicks in this April 1st.
00:05:53.740 I'm just going to mention this here just so I don't forget later.
00:06:03.920 I guarantee there is going to be a liberal candidate who runs against the carbon tax.
00:06:08.000 Mark my words, a liberal MP is going to run to cancel the carbon tax increase in April at least,
00:06:14.120 if not put a pause on the carbon tax entirely.
00:06:16.440 They will do some weird and wacky things out of desperation to try and be the most noticed liberal.
00:06:22.180 Because, again, they could attract some soft conservatives to maybe buy liberal memberships
00:06:27.460 just to vote for the most conservative liberal.
00:06:29.900 We need a carbon tax election now to choose between the NDP liberal costly coalition that taxes your food,
00:06:38.460 punishes your work, doubles your housing costs, and unleashes crime and drugs in your community.
00:06:43.100 Or, common-sense conservatives who will axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget, and stop the crime.
00:06:50.960 Canadians can take back control of their lives and their country.
00:06:54.420 Take back control of our border.
00:06:55.880 Take back control of immigration.
00:06:57.840 Take back control of spending, deficits, and inflation.
00:07:00.500 Take back control of our streets by locking up criminals, banning drugs, treating addiction, and stopping gun smugglers.
00:07:07.160 We'll cap spending, axe taxes, reward work, build homes, uphold family, stop crime, secure borders, rearm our forces,
00:07:16.440 restore our freedom, and put Canada first.
00:07:20.300 All with one mission.
00:07:21.860 To bring home Canada's promise that every hard-working Canadian gets a powerful paycheck and pension
00:07:28.160 that buys affordable food and homes on safe streets where all are united for the country we know and love.
00:07:38.860 Canada first, Canada last, Canada always.
00:07:42.880 Let's bring it home.
00:07:43.880 So, like, a much better statement than Jagmeet's, to put it lightly, Jagmeet's was very silly in the sense that it's trying to pretend like,
00:07:54.400 you know, all those things we did with the Liberals, that was Trudeau's fault.
00:07:58.300 Jagmeet Singh is throwing Trudeau under the bus just as much as all the other Liberal MPs are throwing Trudeau under the bus,
00:08:04.480 pretending he was all the problems.
00:08:06.920 Even though if it was up to Jagmeet, the policies would be even worse because the NDP is just the Liberal Party
00:08:12.860 with a higher credit card limit on it.
00:08:16.180 But now I need to show you guys another thing before this video ends, just because I think it's funny.
00:08:23.160 So, Rosemary Barton at the, at CBC has not been having a good day.
00:08:29.760 They, a can of proud your ass, has Rosie Barton been crying?
00:08:33.000 And I think so.
00:08:35.400 There's a lot of people in the Liberal media who, Trudeau for some reason was like their avatar.
00:08:41.120 They loved the sky.
00:08:43.160 And they were the last ones, it seemed, to find out before even Liberal Party MPs, that nobody liked Trudeau.
00:08:50.100 That nobody liked the sanctimonious metropolitanism of Trudeau.
00:08:55.440 But these people are sanctimonious metropolitans, so they loved it.
00:08:59.740 Absolutely loved it.
00:09:01.260 So, if you guys aren't aware, the current list of people who are expected to potentially run for the Liberal Party leadership,
00:09:08.740 because somebody asked me already in my last video I just made a short while ago, like who Christy Clark was.
00:09:15.080 She is one of the contenders.
00:09:16.440 She is the former BC Liberal Premier of British Columbia, of course.
00:09:21.420 You have Christy Freeland, former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, wanting to run.
00:09:26.280 They think Dominic LeBlanc will want to run, even though he is the current Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister.
00:09:31.980 Anita Anand, for some reason, wants to run.
00:09:35.020 Francois-Philippe Champagne wants to run, probably there to try and monopolize the Quebec vote.
00:09:39.520 But alongside him, there's going to be Melanie Jolie, also competing hard for the Quebec vote.
00:09:44.900 And I believe there might be one more that I'm leaving out here.
00:09:48.380 But I think we can just leave it there.
00:09:50.880 Most of these people are complete Turkey candidates, and they're not going to go anywhere.
00:09:55.220 And the other ones, like, it's mostly just name recognition.
00:09:58.980 It's a name recognition fight.
00:10:00.420 Mark Carney was the other one I'm forgetting about.
00:10:02.900 Former head of the Bank of England, central banker.
00:10:07.280 Probably the worst possible guy to run, with Polly's popularity being at as it is.
00:10:12.660 You're really going to run a central banker, versus the most populous leader the Conservative Party has had in a few decades.
00:10:19.780 Good luck with that.
00:10:21.200 That sounds like a stupid idea, but the Liberals are full of them.
00:10:25.180 Anyways, so that's it for this video, guys.
00:10:28.480 Make sure to subscribe to the channel, like this video, do all that great stuff.
00:10:32.120 Leave a comment on other leadership candidates I might have missed.
00:10:35.160 And I'll see you guys next time.
