PM Mark Carney is back at a Liberal Party Fundraiser with Liberal MP Michael Ma, despite being exposed as a Chinese Communist Party agent. Why does the PM continue to associate himself with Michael Ma? Is it because he needs his vote in order to get re-elected in the upcoming by-elections, or because he wants to keep his majority in the House of Commons?
00:00:00.000Hey guys, Wyatt Claypool here, and yes, I am filming this video with all my equipment propped
00:00:06.440up on a mini-fridge. What are you, jealous or something? So today, Prime Minister Mark Carney
00:00:13.680made a complete fool of himself, because Mark Carney wants his liberal majority government
00:00:19.340so desperately, he is refusing to distance himself from liberal MP Michael Ma. If you remember,
00:00:26.440Michael Ma crossed the floor from the Conservative Party to the Liberals and was then exposed as a
00:00:32.220fairly obvious CCP agent, pretty much. He was just openly putting out CCP talking points in a
00:00:38.400committee meeting that turned into a big scandal. And Carney won't get rid of him because if he
00:00:43.660only wins two out of the three upcoming by-elections, he will need Michael Ma's vote for a majority.
00:00:50.280So in Carney's mind, he is willing to take the reputational damage of associating with Ma
00:00:56.140just to have that majority. I think this is going to come back and massively backfire on him,
00:01:01.960but in just a second here we will be getting into the details of this story. But first,
00:01:07.200if you guys like the channel, make sure to leave a like on this video, subscribe if you are not
00:01:12.080yet a subscriber, and hit the notification bell so you are notified whenever I come up with a new
00:01:16.320video. Comment whatever you think, maybe comment on the mini-fridge, maybe comment on the Michael
00:01:21.280moth thing, whatever you think is more important in this case. And of course, if you want to
00:01:25.840financially support the channel, consider hitting the join button below the video. It allows you to
00:01:30.840make a small contribution per month and make the channel more sustainable for me. If you are on a
00:01:36.420fixed income, do not feel like you have to join the membership. Feel free to just watch all the
00:01:42.120content for free because that still helps out the channel. I always like to clarify that. I'm not
00:01:46.400going away if you don't give three bucks a month or something like that. That's just for a minority
00:01:51.140of people if they really do enjoy watching every day and they want to help contribute to the
00:01:56.300sustainability over time. Anyways, so starting off the story, apparently Mark Carney is back
00:02:04.300on hosting a fundraiser event with Michael Ma. Last week, what we saw was that overnight after
00:02:11.700the scandal hit, previously Michael Ma was slated to be hosting a fundraiser and then his name was
00:02:17.960taken off of the marquee a little bit later. But apparently his name was just taken off temporarily
00:02:23.660and now Michael Ma is still going to be at the fundraiser alongside Mark Carney. So we'll quickly
00:02:30.220read a little bit of this Globe and Mail article reporting on it and then I want to jump to
00:02:35.020this truly abysmal press conference that Carney gave trying to justify Ma's presence and then
00:02:41.800being unwilling himself to say there's forced labor in China which is doubling and tripling
00:02:47.240down on the thing that Michael Ma already did wrong that got him into trouble in the first place.
00:02:53.240But here's this article by Stephen Chase and Laura Stone in the Globe and Mail.
00:02:58.760Right here it says, Prime Minister Mark Carney said Monday he still planned to attend a Liberal
00:03:04.120Party fundraiser co-hosted by a Liberal MP who cast doubt on reports of human rights abuses
00:03:10.580against Uyghurs. Mr. Carney also defended Canada's efforts to block imports of goods made with forced
00:03:16.540labor as the country prepares to allow Chinese-made electric vehicles back into the market.
00:03:22.060The Prime Minister is scheduled to attend a Liberal Party fundraising event at Markham
00:03:25.440Ontario Golf Club Monday evening. So that is tonight he's going to be appearing with Michael
00:03:31.120Ma. It's being co-hosted by Michael Ma, the Markham Unionville MP, who is in January defected from the
00:03:38.320Conservative caucus to join the Liberals, although that was actually Christmas. I don't know why they
00:03:42.200got that wrong. The other fundraiser co-hosts are Minister of Energy and Natural Resources,
00:03:48.320Tim Hodgson, and Public Safety Minister, Gary Amasangri. Mr. Ma sparked a backlash last Thursday
00:03:54.820after he challenged the assistance of forced labor in China during a meeting of the Commons
00:03:59.540Industry Committee, which is examining Mr. Carney's deal to allow 49,000 Chinese-made
00:04:05.480electric vehicles into Canada at a low tariff rate. You guys probably don't need to see the
00:04:11.800clip again of Michael Ma questioning the witness. It has been a few days though, so I actually do
00:04:16.440think it might be good for some people to see what happened in case you are not yet acquainted with
00:04:21.580just how bad this clip was. So I'm going to be bringing that up in just a second here. I said
00:04:27.220to kind of switch my tabs, you know, the artfulness of YouTube commentary. I'm like sitting with a
00:04:33.800mini fridge trying to pull up the exact clip I want of Michael Ma badgering a witness. So here we go.
00:04:40.380So here is Michael Ma in this committee meeting, trying to basically poke holes in the obviously true story that China uses forced labor in their economy.
00:04:51.020Do you have an advanced degree in technology and cybersecurity? Yes or no?
00:04:56.060No, but I have spent 37 years in that business.
00:05:03.080The other one is you belong to the China Strategic Risk Institute.
00:05:07.640so does this institute specifically look for risk when there is anyone yes or no no so why is it a
00:05:15.660risk institute because it's it's uh analyzes risks that are obviously thank you this would be like
00:05:23.700going after like the anti-smoking lobby by saying so you guys just just make up that cigarettes are
00:05:29.500bad for people it's like i guess you could say that dude i guess so really incisive comments
00:05:36.820there, Mr. Ma. So the last question then is, you claim about forced labor in San Jim. Have you
00:05:43.680witnessed this yourself? Have you been there ever? Have you ever put your finger in the mouth of
00:05:49.140somebody who is engaged in forced labor in China? You haven't. It's almost like it's not true. It's
00:05:54.480almost like forced labor doesn't exist. Have you ever rode a tandem bike with a Uyghur person
00:05:58.820who was involved in forced labor? Have you ever ridden on a tandem bike with someone from a Uyghur
00:06:04.440slavery camp sounds like you don't know what you're talking about lady he's such a clown in
00:06:09.380this meeting i've been to china many times have you witnessed since 1979 have you witnessed force
00:06:17.000that's just a short answer have you witnessed forced labor in shenzhen yes or no
00:06:23.240um i work closely with human rights watch where researchers did witness it
00:06:30.880Yeah, so that man whose brain is made of clown soup is currently in the Liberal Party.
00:06:36.920And I always reiterate, shame on the Conservatives for ever letting this guy run for them.
00:06:41.620If you did a proper background check, it was probably clear that he was engaged with a lot of the United Front Work Department front groups, a lot of the CCP front groups.
00:06:51.140This guy should have been whacked as a candidate immediately.
00:06:54.520Joe Tate even got bumped from Markham Unionville as the candidate,
00:14:50.440So he is going to repeat his general press conference's purpose.
00:14:54.260It has nothing to do with the question to buy himself 20 seconds.
00:14:57.920The main element of today's announcement, 8.8 billion partnership, Ontario and Government of Canada,
00:15:04.020City working alongside up to $200,000, up to $200,000 off taxes and development fees for homes
00:15:14.760in Ontario for people getting onto the housing ladder, plus all of the major infrastructure
00:15:21.520being built in huge levels and consistent partnership. In terms of, look, I followed
00:15:28.240What was that? What was that vocal script right there? He is he is struggling, man. He is trying to find the words in terms of look, I, I, I followed this issue over the years in China and elsewhere. And there is evidence of child labor around the world.
00:15:49.180he's about to say like there's evidence of child labor in around the world there's bad things that
00:15:56.240happen in other places around this planet don't you know well and again what was like the vocal
00:16:01.340struggle at the start there well on this uh like he's like the truth is like hurting his body and
00:16:08.480he's trying and it's trying to come out and he's like you know you know get back down there i'm
00:16:13.480about to lie about forced labor and slavery in China please truth leave me alone for a second
00:16:19.840there's evidence and there's existence I should say of child labor and forced labor around the
00:16:25.260world there is a absolute requirement for companies I'll put it there first to know
00:16:33.480who their suppliers are the conditions of their suppliers they have a reporting obligation here
00:16:39.120in canada not his fault that he wants to aggressively open up trade with china it's
00:16:43.680that it's the suppliers public reporting obligation uh here in canada for their supply chains they
00:16:50.880have to comply with our laws which obviously to simplify them are against any element of
00:16:57.920forced or child labor in any element of the supply chain so guys he's not involved he doesn't endorse
00:17:03.840forced labor you will have to chuck off a box now you're going to get a box or like a form as a
00:17:11.140company in canada if you're trading with china and it will just say it's like do you like me
00:17:15.820yes or no boxes but here it will say did you did you illegally use forced labor or child labor
00:17:21.860and you're just sitting there looking at the boxes and you're like oh well i have to i have to
00:17:27.340i just i have to be honest you're getting a bunch of you're getting products from north korea
00:17:33.140And you get a form in the mail asking, did you use forced labor or not?
00:17:40.540Like, what is this of goods that are imported into this country?
00:17:45.420And and China, there are parts of China that are higher risk and therefore need to be diligent.
00:17:52.660Yes, there are parts of China where there are higher risk and you need to be diligent.
00:18:00.640You couldn't even actually say this forced labor.
00:18:03.140He actually changed it to child labor, which in a certain sense, I guess, is softer.
00:18:08.120It's not as big an issue because we could be talking about, oh, there's like 10 year olds working.
00:18:12.500And it's like, yeah, that's still bad, but it's not quite like slavery.
00:18:15.340So he changed it from slavery to child labor and then just said it happens all around the world.
00:18:21.400And then vaguely mentions China and that there's a risk in some places.
00:18:27.060but don't worry that's for private companies to care about whether or not they're using forced
00:18:34.680labor in their products you know carney wants to aggressively expand trade with this country that
00:18:39.520has all these problems with child labor and with forced labor but don't worry we're going to send
00:18:46.280companies forms in the mail asking them did you do something naughty did you use a little slavery
00:18:53.200Oh, if you hit the said the no box, then you're fine.
00:18:55.800Like, is the Carney government going to invest a lot into fact finding about where companies are sourcing things from in China and whether or not there is forced labor involved?
00:19:06.940And as we saw with a previous Chinese commentator who was talking about this issue in relation to what Michael Ma said, that it's really hard to go into any province of China and not find elements of forced labor.
00:19:18.840Because there are other sort of involuntary, like, you know, voluntary, like, what's the, you know, indentured servitude type things that exist in China, both in places like Xinjiang, I can never pronounce it right, and elsewhere.
00:19:34.620You can't just say like, oh, well, you know, this province doesn't formally have like forced labor.
00:19:39.900There's a lot of indentured servitude in that country.
00:19:42.660A lot of people are basically just working to eat.
00:19:45.960You can't just basically blow this off.
00:19:48.840as being something that the companies will handle.
00:19:51.280Do you think that Carney's going to hold him accountable?
00:20:37.940Lots of stuff going down in British Columbia right now.
00:20:40.980We actually had a B.C. Conservative leadership candidate sign a coalition government deal with Dallas Brody and One B.C., and so effectively, Uri Falmer has recognized that One B.C. is here to stay.
00:20:53.380We are going to be a permanent force in B.C. politics.
00:20:56.800We have our own unique supporters who, if One B.C. went away tomorrow, are not just going to go and vote B.C. Conservative.
00:21:03.200And the only way that they are going to get 1BC people to vote BC conservative is by guaranteeing us at least five very winnable seats so that we can have five seats in the legislature in order to hold a conservative government accountable.
00:21:18.060Anyways, so with that all being said, make sure to like, share, subscribe, do all those fantastic things, and I'll see you all later.
