In this episode, I talk about how Canada has entered the scam economy, and why it's a bad thing. I also talk about the housing crisis in Canada, and how the government is to blame for it, and what it should do to fix it.
00:00:00.000And even though I'm not in my usual setup, the lighting around here is absolutely mediocre and I'm not even wearing a button-up shirt like I usually am. I just had to make a video on this extremely stupid tweet from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau because I think it really speaks to just how bad the Canadian economy is and how anti-individualistic the Liberals' economic policies are.
00:00:19.900So on Twitter, he posted this basically saying, you know, school supplies, extracurricular activities, take your kids to soccer and whatnot. All that costs a lot. But don't worry, your little head. The Liberal government is so generous. It's giving you some of the money that you paid in taxes back to you so you can afford all this stuff.
00:00:35.340Obviously, Justin Trudeau or any Liberal cabinet minister would ever actually acknowledge that they're giving taxpayers back their own money because they believe all the money in Canada, somehow the governments. So they'll never say that.
00:00:46.540But what I think that Justin Trudeau is articulating and what he's articulated over time, not in terms of his words or his intention to articulate this, but what the Liberals' policy is demonstrating is how much of a scam economy that Canada's economy has become.
00:01:02.700That Canada's economy is not actually based on individual action. It's based on whether or not the government will let you succeed.
00:01:09.680And these child benefits, all these different, you know, like ways of the government giving you your own money back and pretending they're helping you, it was part of the scam economy.
00:01:18.780And I'm going to go over a few reasons why I'm sort of putting this label of scam economy on what is currently happening in Canada.
00:01:25.700So for one thing, we just know as Canadians that taxes have gone like just absolutely through the roof.
00:01:30.900In terms of all these new carbon taxes, like, you know, individual taxes going up, corporate taxes, different small business taxes, it's gotten really bad in Canada, where more than 50% of the money that you're earning, if you're earning a decent salary every year, is going to the government.
00:01:46.400It has turned Canada into a country where unless the government is giving you back benefits, they're giving you different breaks because you're doing something for the government, or because you qualify for certain programs, you're not going to succeed.
00:01:58.380Unlike a lot of American states, it's like really doesn't matter how good your business is in certain Canadian provinces, because of all the provincial and federal taxes combined, you could go to business despite your business have being based on a great idea and being run efficiently.
00:02:11.220It's just that the government is eating away at your profit margin so much, it doesn't make it worth it to actually run a business.
00:02:18.420So that's one reason that I think we've sort of entered the scam economy.
00:02:21.700And two is specifically about the benefits.
00:02:24.240So much about Canada these days is about benefits in terms of the whether or not you get by in life is not based on your own individual effort that you're working hard so that you can make ends meet, you can pay your mortgage, you can afford groceries, and you know, all the extra stuff that you want in life.
00:02:39.640And it's what you don't afford, like, afford all that based on your own efforts, you afford that based on whether or not Christian for Lynn is going to come up with another giveaway program to give you back the taxes that you've paid.
00:02:52.220That's basically what the carbon taxes has nothing to do with the climate, it's about redistributing wealth from one group of people to another.
00:02:58.340This has to do with basically the Canadian child benefit, where although, you know, encouraging people to have families is good, you're effectively taxing single people for the benefit of families.
00:03:08.000Again, families are good, but I don't think that's an exactly a fair setup when we could just cut taxes for everyone and stop spending on nonsense.
00:03:15.100But a lot of what the Justin Trudeau's economy is based on has become, are you getting the grocery benefit?
00:03:20.900If you don't qualify, you're not going to make it.
00:03:23.620And we've become a society that heavily relies, or at least a large portion of the population heavily relies on the government to succeed, whether it's through receiving benefits, or it's through being able to avoid taxing regulations that make it difficult to run your business.
00:03:38.680This is effectively the entire housing crisis right now, is that developers can only build buildings if the government lets them.
00:03:44.800And the government's pretending like the solution is the government getting more heavily involved and more heavily regulating the housing development market and taxing the companies more to be able to, you know, build public housing and all this other sort of stuff that the economy just cannot afford right now.
00:04:00.520And the third thing I wanted to highlight and what has made Canada a scam economy over time is just the sheer amount of nonprofit organizations that the government gives money to.
00:04:10.840So much of the Canadian economy these days is not even, like, not even exaggerating, it's a fake economy.
00:04:16.560It's whether or not you're getting a million dollars a year for a nonprofit that does nothing is what is determining if you get by for a lot of people.
00:04:24.380Not like the majority of people, and it's a small minority, but it's a pretty significant sliver of the economy is just people who run nonprofit organizations and other charities that get government funding, who could never actually justify why they need money from taxpayers, because nobody would ever donate to these organizations if it wasn't being supported by the government, because they don't do anything really that's needed.
00:04:46.640It's not substantial. It's not substantial. You get a lot of this DEI types of diversity training type, like charities and nonprofit organizations that are government supported, different place, different humanitarian organizations that the government really doesn't have any business supporting because, you know, by choosing them, they're not choosing another charity and the government really doesn't need to be in this business.
00:05:06.140But overall, we've turned into a society where everything depends on what the government does. We really need to be moving back into the individual direction where if you have good ideas, you start a good business, you will succeed. If you work hard for a company or for someone else or for yourself, you will succeed.
00:05:28.080Right now, Canada's economy is becoming just some arbitrary game of whether or not the government smiles on you or not. And this is exactly what these benefits are. And this is what I think the conservative party needs to highlight. Whenever the government is highlighting their child tax credits, you know, all their carbon tax reimbursements, and you know, the grocery reimbursements, it's not actually like trying to help Canadians, it's just easing their pain by giving them some of the money they took away.
00:05:54.660Even with the carbon tax, if you get carbon tax reimbursement payments, you're still losing overall because of the increase in prices on groceries, fuel, and all these other things that they're not actually reimbursing you for. You're just hoping that you can cobble together enough based on the government blessing you that you can get by. And I do not think that that actually counts as a real economy. We might not be a socialist economy, but it's very much becoming a, you know, a government, government run economy. It's a very much a corporatist economy.
00:06:24.660Anyways, that's it for me today. Hopefully this, the quality of my surroundings, well, it's nice surroundings, but hopefully the lighting everything wasn't too bad right now. I'll make sure if I'm ever filming outside my studio space, I pick times of day where the lighting's a bit better. But that should be it for me today. In the description below, I've just linked my Give, Send, Go legal fundraiser that I usually have there.
00:06:44.920And make sure if you're around the Calgary area, you click on the TNT email link in the description and you sign up because we're going to be putting out early bird ticket codes for Ben Shapiro Live. That's happening in November, November 16th.
00:06:56.740And we'll be putting out the tickets a few days before all the tickets go on sale publicly. So make sure you sign up for that and hope everyone has a great day.
