The cognitive dissonance of being a liberal these days must be really hard on you, because Mark Carney keeps talking tough on Donald Trump, and then keeps capitulating behind the scenes in such a way that Trump is satisfied with every conversation he has with him. The liberals want to bulldog on Trump, except they have Mark Carney, who I don t think could actually intimidate a chihuahua.

00:00:00.000 Hey guys, Wyatt Claypool here.
00:00:03.160 The cognitive dissonance of being a liberal these days must be really hard on you,
00:00:08.160 because Mark Carney keeps talking tough on Donald Trump,
00:00:12.400 and then keeps capitulating behind the scenes in such a way where Trump is very satisfied with every conversation he has with him.
00:00:20.200 The liberals want to bulldog on Trump, except they have Mark Carney, who I don't think could actually intimidate a chihuahua.
00:00:27.460 And so now we're in this weird situation where Mark Carney is being portrayed as the tough guy,
00:00:34.240 at the same time the media is then praising him for being so serene with Trump.
00:00:39.840 Just check out this clip I'm about to play in a second of him saying,
00:00:43.680 our relationship with the U.S. is over, and then I want that contrasted with what Trump said about their phone call yesterday,
00:00:50.880 and then what Mark Carney then also said.
00:00:53.540 But quickly, before I get into it, guys, if you've been liking my federal election coverage,
00:00:58.500 make sure to like this video, subscribe to the channel, and leave a comment.
00:01:02.260 It really helps us on the algorithm.
00:01:04.620 And now, without further ado, here is the short clip of Carney saying that our relationship with the U.S. is over.
00:01:11.820 We will need to ensure that Canada can succeed in a drastically different world.
00:01:19.440 The old relationship we had with the United States, based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperations, is over.
00:01:29.640 So he said that, and that was said, like, I believe actually less than 24 hours before he had the phone call with Donald Trump,
00:01:38.920 and I guess he forgot to tell him off and say that everything's finished,
00:01:42.740 because then this is what Donald Trump had posted on Truth Social about the call.
00:01:48.160 So let's just quickly say,
00:02:13.620 If Pierre Polyev was currently the prime minister and had a phone call with Donald Trump that he said was very productive and we agreed on many things,
00:02:23.440 there would be a media firestorm.
00:02:25.760 What do you mean he agreed?
00:02:26.880 What do you mean he didn't attack Donald Trump with a fork and knife? 0.61
00:02:30.100 Like, why didn't he do something crazy?
00:02:32.820 Because they'd say, oh my goodness, Trump likes Polyev, or he has even said a nice word about him?
00:02:37.980 That means Polyev's a dictator.
00:02:40.020 That means he can't be re-elected.
00:02:41.300 But if Mark Carney does it after literally the day before saying our relationship with the U.S. is over,
00:02:48.460 and then Trump says we work perfectly fine together, we agree on a lot of stuff,
00:02:52.860 media's like, oh, wow, what a statesman that Mark Carney guy is.
00:02:56.780 What a great fellow.
00:02:58.380 What, oh, so nice.
00:02:59.940 It's like, or it's that Mark Carney gets on a phone call with Trump and he completely folds up like a lawn chair,
00:03:06.040 and he doesn't actually hold his ground on anything because it's all talk with Mark Carney,
00:03:11.520 and he realizes that what the conservatives have been advising in terms of how to deal with the relationship with the Americans
00:03:18.740 is probably about right.
00:03:20.840 You might have to move a little bit here and there when it comes to tariffs that we have on American products
00:03:25.420 in order to get them to drop their own tariffs, we have to agree to maybe, like, you know,
00:03:29.880 tightening up border security, spending more on defense.
00:03:33.220 But if you, again, are Danielle Smith, the Premier of Alberta, and you suggest this,
00:03:39.020 a traitor to the country, I can't believe that you would agree with Trump on anything,
00:03:43.860 even if he's noticing that you're not wearing pants, and you're like, oh, of course I am, 0.97
00:03:48.900 because I'm not going to agree with the fact that I'm not wearing pants because you're Donald Trump 0.94
00:03:52.640 and you're the evil orange man, and I'm a Canadian nationalist. 0.62
00:03:56.400 That is what this whole situation with the U.S. has felt like.
00:03:59.460 Trump could say something false, or he could say something true,
00:04:02.920 and the media and the liberal establishment will still thrash him,
00:04:07.540 and then thrash conservatives for not condemning him,
00:04:10.100 but then they will say and do the things when they're actually speaking to Trump
00:04:13.740 that the conservatives were advising them to do, and now it is statesmanly behavior.
00:04:18.840 But now I want to move over to what Mark Carney said about the call,
00:04:22.060 because, again, I find this all very telling,
00:04:24.360 considering his previous statements about Donald Trump
00:04:27.820 and how he was going to be dealing with the Americans.
00:04:31.020 Sorry, just let me get this thing up here.
00:04:33.260 But, yeah, the whole thing just makes me feel like the media knows this is an election ploy.
00:04:39.400 They don't actually care about, like, they don't actually care at all
00:04:44.160 when it comes to, like, the consistency.
00:04:47.340 They're just looking for the election win.
00:04:49.400 I think there was two statements out.
00:04:50.860 This is at least Mark Carney's first one.
00:04:53.040 He says,
00:04:53.820 After I spoke with President Trump this morning,
00:04:56.280 Minister LeBlanc and I discussed the current trade crisis with the premiers.
00:05:00.660 We're all focused on fighting U.S. tariffs,
00:05:02.920 protecting Canadian workers, and building one strong Canadian economy.
00:05:06.500 And I ask you,
00:05:09.180 So, did Mark Carney go on that call and say,
00:05:12.400 I'm going to fight you?
00:05:13.260 I'm going to fight your tariffs?
00:05:14.260 I'm going to stand up strong for Canadian jobs?
00:05:16.280 And Trump was like,
00:05:17.080 Hmm, yes, we agree on a great many things.
00:05:20.120 Or did Mark Carney, again, fold and say,
00:05:22.940 Okay, I guess we can have a more realistic talk.
00:05:25.360 I guess we can drop maybe some of our softwood,
00:05:28.180 our dairy and cheese and other sorts of tariffs on your guys' imports.
00:05:33.440 Because it actually is true that Canada has far more tariffs on the U.S. than they had on us.
00:05:38.820 But it was the default.
00:05:40.260 And then once the Americans put tariffs on us,
00:05:41.980 we acted like this is a big act of aggression.
00:05:44.780 And so,
00:05:45.860 But obviously,
00:05:46.440 that's probably more likely to what was said,
00:05:49.000 is that they actually had a real discussion.
00:05:53.280 And,
00:05:53.820 but then he comes back into the public and says,
00:05:55.880 Oh, I was in there.
00:05:56.700 I was swinging at him.
00:05:58.060 And it's just not true.
00:05:59.280 Here is another statement that he made,
00:06:00.980 a more detailed one on what was discussed.
00:06:04.700 Mark Carney says,
00:06:05.900 Today,
00:06:06.380 the prime,
00:06:07.000 or this is,
00:06:07.860 I think from his office.
00:06:08.880 Today,
00:06:09.360 the prime minister,
00:06:10.480 Mark Carney,
00:06:11.140 spoke with the president of the United States,
00:06:12.840 Donald J.
00:06:13.340 Trump.
00:06:13.580 The prime minister and the president had a very constructive conversation about the relationship between the two countries.
00:06:19.560 The leaders agreed to begin comprehensive negotiations about a new economic and security relationship immediately following the election.
00:06:27.380 In the interim,
00:06:28.180 the leaders agreed that the conversations between the minister of international trade and intergovernmental affairs and the president of the King's Privy Council for Canada, Dominic LeBlanc,
00:06:38.260 and the United States Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick,
00:06:40.700 will intensify to address immediate concerns.
00:06:43.580 The prime minister told the president that he would be working hard for the next month to earn the right to represent Canada in those discussions.
00:06:50.140 The prime minister informed the president that his government will implement retaliatory tariffs to protect Canadian workers and our economy following the announcement of additional U.S. trade actions on April 2nd.
00:07:01.480 You know what?
00:07:02.160 I don't believe that last line.
00:07:04.000 I do not believe that last line for a second based on what Trump said about the conversation.
00:07:09.440 Again,
00:07:09.860 do you really think if he mentioned it,
00:07:12.260 it was offhand?
00:07:13.420 You know,
00:07:13.880 we might have to put up some,
00:07:15.300 you know,
00:07:15.660 retaliatory tariffs just as if we were tariffing you.
00:07:18.320 It doesn't matter what it is.
00:07:19.540 You'd have to tariff us back simply to look good.
00:07:22.020 I don't think that Mark Carney seriously got pointed with Trump about trade,
00:07:28.200 about tariffs and counter tariffs.
00:07:29.960 Because again,
00:07:30.900 Trump could then call him out saying,
00:07:33.080 hey,
00:07:33.380 here's this giant list of things that Canada already tariffs from the United States.
00:07:37.600 And then we tariff steel and auto.
00:07:39.540 And then you suddenly freak out.
00:07:41.360 Again,
00:07:41.800 I don't like tariffs at all. 0.91
00:07:43.200 This is why it's stupid whenever the media attacks Daniel Smith for meeting with Ben Shapiro, 0.80
00:07:47.880 who's actually also anti-tariff. 0.93
00:07:50.220 And he's coming from the American side to say that he wants both sides to remove tariffs
00:07:54.460 so that we can have a freer market.
00:07:56.560 But that's probably what Mark Carney discussed.
00:07:59.220 But again,
00:07:59.800 let's remember the media would have slandered Pierre Polyev if he said any of this.
00:08:05.280 They in fact have been slandering him for taking a softer stance than Mark Carney.
00:08:09.820 When Mark Carney in fact says the crazy,
00:08:13.360 the American relationship with Canada is over statements in public.
00:08:16.980 And then he goes behind the scenes and talks the way Polyev would have talked. 0.64
00:08:20.120 Because he's a complete hack.
00:08:22.200 But yeah.
00:08:22.840 So Dustin does also answer the question,
00:08:25.380 who does Donald Trump want winning this election?
00:08:28.280 It's Mark Carney.
00:08:29.580 And that's not because like,
00:08:31.160 you know,
00:08:31.400 I hate Trump or something like that. 0.61
00:08:33.380 And, 0.87
00:08:33.740 you know, 0.99
00:08:33.960 screw him. 1.00
00:08:34.640 He's endorsing the liberals. 0.98
00:08:35.980 He's the president of the United States.
00:08:37.280 His job is to look out for the citizens.
00:08:39.820 And the economy of the United States.
00:08:42.180 And so what he's doing is probably wanting to negotiate with the person who is the weakest.
00:08:47.760 And I think Mark Carney has proven that he does not have a spine and is very easily called out by Donald Trump that he can talk that hotly in the Canadian press.
00:08:57.300 And then immediately go onto a discussion that Trump talks about and says that they like,
00:09:02.040 we know it was a,
00:09:02.680 it was like,
00:09:03.300 it was a constructive conversations.
00:09:04.660 Mark Carney said,
00:09:05.360 and Trump said that they agree on a lot of things. 1.00
00:09:07.440 Because I thought in all of his campaign rallies that Trump's a ridiculous person and he has stupid opinions on everything. 1.00
00:09:13.420 Who could agree with that guy? 1.00
00:09:14.680 Except for Mark Carney,
00:09:16.140 who also in previous clips couldn't even figure out what he was going to talk to Trump about because he's so flustered in figuring out how to portray this issue in public.
00:09:23.700 Whenever he's asked a question about Trump,
00:09:26.160 he falls apart because he knows that if he was to actually say what he would honestly say to Trump, 0.91
00:09:31.420 his own base would say he's a traitor.
00:09:33.480 But in fact,
00:09:34.420 you kind of do need to talk to the president of the United States in a more realistic way than many,
00:09:39.720 frankly,
00:09:40.700 left wing Canadian boomers in Eastern Canada think you're going to talk to him.
00:09:43.940 Like,
00:09:44.140 you're not going to walk up to him and put your finger in his chest.
00:09:46.540 We're Canada and they're the US and it's not unpatriotic to point that out that maybe we shouldn't get too uppity,
00:09:52.680 especially when we have tariffs on them well before they put tariffs on us.
00:09:57.560 But anyways,
00:09:59.000 that should be it for this video.
00:10:00.600 I know I promised about this video yesterday.
00:10:02.820 I had just come back from a trip and I was so tired that I passed out of sleep halfway through the day.
00:10:07.320 But know what?
00:10:08.100 I made up for it this morning and I will have more content coming out as the day goes on because this election is getting crazy.
00:10:14.640 We have liberal candidates dropping out.
00:10:17.100 We have liberal candidates calling for their conservative rivals to be literally locked up in Chinese prison.
00:10:24.100 Nuts stuff is going on and it needs to be talked about.
00:10:27.580 Anyways,
00:10:28.080 so make sure to like the video,
00:10:29.480 subscribe to the channel,
00:10:30.440 leave a comment,
00:10:31.060 do all that great stuff,
00:10:32.040 and I'll see you guys later.
