Summary

In this episode, I talk about how weak a politician Mark Carney is, and how much money he needs to raise to win the leadership race. I also talk about the fact that the Liberals need a lot more than $1.9 million to defeat Trudeau.

00:00:00.000 While I've been covering the Liberal Party leadership race, one of the things I keep
00:00:04.980 emphasizing is how weak of a politician Mark Carney is, despite the fact that he is the
00:00:10.940 frontrunner. I don't dispute he's the frontrunner, and he is still very likely to win the leadership
00:00:16.680 race after at least one, two, or three ballots. The problem is that if you want it to be a
00:00:23.340 coronation and have a lot of momentum behind the Liberal Party, if Carney wins, you want
00:00:28.100 it to be a big first ballot win. And when there's polling out there like this of only Liberal
00:00:33.700 members and he's only 9% ahead of Chrystia Freeland, that's a really big problem. What's also a really
00:00:41.220 big problem is just the lack of money in the Liberal Party leadership race. While Carney
00:00:47.040 definitely has brought in a lot of money, all the other campaigns are basically only throwing
00:00:52.640 around half dollars, in such a way that was not true about the 2022 and 2020 Conservative Party
00:01:00.880 leadership races. Here's a chart of the interim fundraising returns. Carney brought in $1.913
00:01:09.680 million from 11,260 donors. I believe that makes it $169 on average for each donation.
00:01:18.880 Gould, in fact, actually beat Chrystia Freeland in her fundraising. She brought in $236,000 from
00:01:26.000 1,375 donors. Freeland brought in $227,000 from 332 donors. I ran the numbers. That's like $668
00:01:34.480 average donation. Frank Bayless, $227,000. So he tied Freeland and Ruby Dalla, $145,000 from 107 donors.
00:01:43.920 And so I believe that means Ruby Dalla is basically only in this race because some big donors want her
00:01:49.280 to be in the race, probably to mess with other people. But the thing is here, when you actually
00:01:54.880 compare this to other leadership races, Scott Aitchison, who was not even a factor in 2022,
00:02:03.520 raised more money than all these people except Mark Carney. I guess you could say it's kind of
00:02:08.600 impressive. Mark Carney's brought in this much money on short notice. But how long a leadership
00:02:14.280 race goes on for doesn't really bring in more dollars. There's a fixed amount of people who
00:02:18.760 will even consider donating, and they will donate during the period of that race. And most of the
00:02:23.960 money comes in near the start. And when you actually compare it to like Aaron O'Toole, he was bringing
00:02:31.080 like three, $4 million. I think like Pure Polly have literally brought in $10 million into his 22
00:02:39.880 leadership campaign. And we have a combined total, not even of half of what Pure Polly have brought
00:02:47.000 in 22. Did it go on for longer? Sure. But again, towards the end of your campaign, you're not going
00:02:53.880 to get in a lot of extra dollars because people know that you can't really go to anything else by the
00:02:59.240 end. And this is what I mean by the liberals have a big money problem is that if I am to believe the
00:03:06.120 polls, maybe we'll pull some of those up right now. If I'm to believe the polls that the liberals are
00:03:11.080 currently skyrocketing and that they're going to catch the conservatives. And this isn't just
00:03:16.200 a support fluke in the moment because of how, you know, the fact that people were depressed about
00:03:21.560 having Trudeau as leader. Now that they're not, they're answering polls disproportionately. If I'm to
00:03:25.960 believe this chart is true, where the liberals back in December are only at 16% by, according to Angus
00:03:33.560 Reid and the NDP are at 21%. And as of two months later, the NDP is at 10 and the, and the liberals are
00:03:41.000 at 37. I'd need to see the money work out to that. I don't think that you're going to see the liberals
00:03:48.920 actually catch up to the conservatives in fundraising. And that is going to be a really big problem for
00:03:55.960 them when it comes to a general election, because the liberal party and the NDP are broke. They do
00:04:02.520 not have a lot of money. If you look at their fundraising numbers in previous years, I've covered
00:04:07.720 it whenever different quarterly numbers come out. The liberals are bringing in like per year, 3 million,
00:04:14.200 maybe 4 million, 5 million. The conservatives will bring in $24 million. And then the NDP,
00:04:22.280 I believe only brings in like two and a half or 3 million. It's utterly pathetic. And so these guys
00:04:28.360 are not just, are not just going to have problems fielding candidates in every riding because so many
00:04:34.440 people are going to know that the NDP and the liberals have no chance in more than half the country,
00:04:39.480 but they're not even going to have the proper resources to fight that election. Because, you
00:04:45.160 know, understand this, the liberals need to show that they're a big brand. The conservatives and
00:04:51.240 liberals typically run ads almost all year long, not all the time, but they will trunch out ads on
00:04:57.880 YouTube and television every once in a while, attacking their opponents. They have big staffs to
00:05:02.760 pay for, so that already cost them millions of dollars a year. I doubt if the Liberal Party of
00:05:09.080 Canada has more than a couple million dollars on hand right now, and this Liberal Party leadership
00:05:14.200 race is not bringing in all that much stuff. It's not indicating that Canadians are going to really
00:05:20.280 open their wallets up for these people. And I think that this was a good point made by my friend
00:05:26.680 Chris, the great Canadian bagel. Here's just what he says. He says, there are really three options here.
00:05:34.920 The Liberal Party internals are still terrible. Two, the old guard is being purged. Three, coincidentally,
00:05:41.400 a lot of high profile members have gotten good non-government offers at the same time. And he is
00:05:47.880 commenting on Laurie Goldstein here saying that Heritage Minister Pascal Saint-Oge will not seek
00:05:53.640 re-election source. So again, why are all these Liberals fleeing the ship right now if the polling
00:06:03.640 is so good? You could say that, well, they want to do something else or whatever. Maybe this all
00:06:08.920 disinterests them. I really doubt it. It happens to be their career. And most people are going to stick
00:06:14.680 around even if they're in opposition because they can do very lazy work. They just have to say whatever
00:06:19.800 the government's doing is bad. And then they can go home and make almost like $200,000 a year to do
00:06:25.720 that. Very easy job, but all these people are suddenly leaving. And some of them are even leaving
00:06:31.000 in Montreal, which indicates to me their internal numbers in Montreal probably show the Bloc Québécois
00:06:36.600 and the NDP doing decently well. I actually don't believe the NDP is only at 10% because that's
00:06:42.920 just not like the NDP to do. And again, I'm going to emphasize that Mark Carney is not a good politician.
00:06:51.560 He is not a good leader. Here's a clip from Judo News of him talking to a crowd of supporters.
00:06:58.840 And his crowds have gotten more impressive over time. But when you minus out all the media, it's a,
00:07:03.400 you know, what a local UCP MLA could get out on it or like on a short notice afternoon. But here's him
00:07:11.080 trying to bad mouth the Americans, because that's, I guess, what Canadians want.
00:07:18.120 We are all Canadians, but all different identities, well, we're all Canadians. And we celebrate that.
00:07:27.640 Dude, 95% of that room is like older white people voting for you.
00:07:33.080 America is a melting pot. In America, diversity is now an insult. And it soon will be a crime.
00:07:41.320 To promote it. That's not a lie. That's a reality. That's what's happening.
00:07:47.080 No, that is most definitely a lie. You're not going to get criminalized for supporting diversity
00:07:51.560 in the United States. You would be criminalized if you were stealing government taxpayer dollars
00:07:57.480 to push DEI in a department that is not allowed to do it, basically every department, because it's
00:08:03.960 detrimental to the actual mission of the US government. And in fact, racist when it's brought to
00:08:09.560 its logical conclusion that DEI people tend to bring it to.
00:08:14.680 It's a shame. Maybe they'll snap out of it eventually, but that's what they are doing.
00:08:20.600 And this is why he's not going to do well. The man cannot drop progressive left-wing mantras that
00:08:27.400 diversity is our strength, that we need to... It doesn't really matter, but everything is just
00:08:35.640 about the climate. The environment is our best asset. The children are our future and whatnot,
00:08:42.600 and that's why we need to let them live and let live or whatever. It's like, guys, at some point,
00:08:48.600 people just want their taxes lowered. And Mark Carney ain't lowering anyone's taxes. He's not...
00:08:53.960 Everyone hates the woke crap. And what he's going to do, and I think it's great for the conservatives,
00:08:59.640 he's going to give the conservatives a great line of basically being able to say, let's stop
00:09:04.920 all of the woke garbage in government, because Mark Carney has made it his brand that he is going
00:09:10.600 to keep this government focused on progressive nonsense rather than the actual safety and
00:09:17.480 economic health of Canadians. Anyways, that should be it for me today, guys. A bit of a later video
00:09:25.000 today. I was like... I slept in, and then I did some stuff today, and then I slept in again. I felt like
00:09:29.960 I got poisoned. So hopefully we're over that. But if you guys want to support the channel, make sure to
00:09:35.480 like it, subscribe, leave a comment, do all that great stuff, and I'll be back tomorrow.
