The NXR Podcast - DAILY TRUTH - God Damns Sinners To The Praise Of His Glorious Justice

00:00:00.000 All right, listen, guys, I get it.

00:00:01.900 Many of you are unable to financially support this ministry because you're spending your

00:00:05.900 cash and your lives on raising young children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

00:00:10.740 Praise God for you and that endeavor.

00:00:13.860 However, algorithms are a thing.

00:00:16.380 Shadow banning, sadly, is a thing.

00:00:19.000 And one major way that you can help to expand the reach and effectiveness of this ministry

00:00:24.160 that doesn't cost you a dime

00:00:25.880 is by spending just a few moments

00:00:28.220 leaving us a five-star review.

00:00:31.320 Also, perhaps even more effective than that,

00:00:34.140 you can share our podcast with a friend.

00:00:36.560 We hope you'll take the time to do so.

00:00:38.480 Thank you so much.

00:00:39.760 God bless.

00:00:42.320 Jesus said,

00:00:43.500 man cannot live on bread alone,

00:00:45.140 but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

00:00:47.980 You're listening to Daily Truth.

00:00:49.940 and jesus comes to him not dressed for some kind of banquet or ball but rather he is dressed for

00:01:01.880 battle he's not only dressed and prepared for battle by having his weaponry on his person

00:01:08.200 a sword in his scabbard at his side but the text says that the sword is actually in his hand

00:01:17.640 and drawn. So he's not only girded for battle, but he's in a battle stance. He's not only prepared,

00:01:26.380 but he is ready at that very moment to wage war. And this is why Joshua asked the question,

00:01:35.980 are you for us or for our adversaries? Are you for us or against us? It would be one thing for

00:01:45.420 the Lord Jesus to appear to Joshua dressed for battle to wage war against their adversaries

00:01:51.840 with his sword in that moment in its scabbard, tucked away. But he comes with his finger on the

00:01:59.960 trigger, so to speak. He's not just armed. He's at the ready. The safety is off, which is why it's a

00:02:09.160 legitimate question to ask on Joshua's part. Wait a second. Clearly you're here for war,

00:02:16.060 but you're so ready at a moment's notice to wage war. I have to ask, are you here to fight me

00:02:22.900 right now in this very moment? But Jesus comforts and consoles Joshua by answering his question,

00:02:33.140 not with the word neither, as many pietist, impotent, cowardly, effeminate evangelicals 0.95

00:02:41.920 would insist, but rather he answers the question by saying no. You want to talk about Bible myth 0.91

00:02:50.660 busters. You want to talk about misinterpreted verses in the Bible time and time and time again.

00:02:58.600 here's one for you. Joshua says, are you on our side

00:03:02.900 or are you with our adversaries?

00:03:06.480 And every evangelical wants to answer the question by saying, well

00:03:10.080 the answer is neither. Right? Because at the end of the day

00:03:15.020 that's really the character and heart of God. If you want to understand

00:03:19.100 God, this is all you need to understand. God is fiercely

00:03:22.920 committed to neutrality.

00:03:24.940 said the bible never

00:03:28.420 the answer is not neither the answer is no and every serious theologian and biblical commentator

00:03:39.080 in looking at this particular text says that the no is in reference not to both parts of

00:03:46.020 joshua's question but merely the latter are you for us or are you for our adversaries it's two

00:03:53.380 questions technically and the Lord Jesus is answering the most recent of those two questions

00:04:00.260 namely the second question or the latter portion latter half of this one question if you want to

00:04:06.480 treat it as a whole so what he's saying is this not neither but no no meaning no I am not for

00:04:14.220 the godless Canaanites. No, I am not here to reinforce your enemies. No.

00:04:24.920 In a sense, what he's saying is, I am with you. And brothers and sisters, that is the Lord's

00:04:32.800 answer. It was his answer then, and it is still his answer today. The Lord is for you.

00:04:39.220 he is not for the pagans

00:04:42.960 the Bible doesn't just say that God hates sin

00:04:47.660 the Bible says he hates sinners

00:04:50.500 and in his mercy God chooses

00:04:56.960 at times according to what he decrees

00:04:59.960 to take some sinners like you

00:05:03.300 and to change your heart

00:05:06.220 to make you a saint. Praise be to God. That is one way that God overcomes His enemies.

00:05:14.400 That is one way that God decimates His adversaries, is that He melts their hearts.

00:05:21.400 He causes them to have a new disposition. He causes them to become new creatures in Christ

00:05:28.340 Jesus. And He grants to them the gifts of faith and repentance, that the God that we once hated

00:05:34.420 now is the God that we love and serve.

00:05:37.820 Praise God.

00:05:40.440 But that is not the only tool at His disposal.

00:05:46.420 God uses grace.

00:05:49.360 But God also utilizes justice.

00:05:55.040 Ephesians chapter 1 repeats the phrase three times throughout this single chapter

00:06:00.400 to the praise of His glorious grace.

00:06:04.420 And the principle that's articulated in this first chapter of Paul's letter to the Ephesians

00:06:09.920 is that we were enemies, but God predestined us in Christ Jesus.

00:06:16.040 That he overcome our hostility. He changes our nature.

00:06:20.900 He called us and chose us in the beloved.

00:06:25.160 And he did this to the praise of his glorious grace.

00:06:27.980 So God saves sinners to make himself look glorious.

00:06:34.420 but it is also true by way of implication if not even hermeneutically necessary inference

00:06:43.700 from Ephesians 1 cross-reference taken with a whole biblical theology the entirety of the book

00:06:50.480 of Romans certainly that God saves sinners to the praise of his glorious grace and God

00:06:56.940 damns sinners to the praise of his glorious justice he does both fight by flight why leaving

00:07:05.760 godless places is loving godless places i've had a lot of people tell me recently pastor joel 0.98

00:07:12.180 you're post-millennial you claim to believe that jesus is king of every square inch but apparently

00:07:18.620 you don't think he's king of california because i've heard your personal story that you used to

00:07:23.880 be a pastor there and that you left for the state of texas notice the title not fight or flight but

00:07:31.460 fight by flight think of the prodigal son he comes to the end of his rope he's longing to be fed with

00:07:38.820 the pods given to the pigs and the parable says no one gave him anything no member of the father's

00:07:46.920 house tracked him down to give him a handout he was hurting he had to lie in the bed that he had

00:07:54.060 made for himself by his foolish choices you know what the next words in that parable are

00:07:59.180 no one gave him anything and he came to his senses he began to repent there are 10 million 0.67

00:08:07.440 professing christians currently living in the state of california what if they're fighting

00:08:13.180 but at the same time while well-intentioned they're also funding what if california could

00:08:19.780 be brought to its knees simply by the faithful not fighting there but leaving there and forcing

00:08:26.920 gavin newsom and other tyrants like him to actually have to take a spoonful of their own

00:08:33.820 medicine the book has been forwarded by douglas wilson it's been endorsed by michael foster
