Fear is a sin, but it is not only a sign of sin, it is a sign that God has given someone over to fear, an irrational fear that signifies their condemnation. God does not want us to be anxious for nothing, but with prayer and supplication, we can be at peace with God.

00:00:17.060 of Jesus Christ. Help us press forward the crown rights of King Jesus by leaving us a
00:00:23.480 five-star review on your favorite podcast platform. Thanks.
00:00:30.000 Jesus said, man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
00:00:35.820 You're listening to Daily Truth.
00:00:39.940 We know that fear is a sin because there are multiple texts throughout the scripture that say that explicitly.
00:00:46.020 Be anxious for nothing.
00:00:48.020 But with prayer and supplication, make your request known to God.
00:00:52.560 This is not just saying, offering a suggestion.
00:00:57.160 A fear is not pleasant, and therefore, because I would have you be at peace, because peace is far
00:01:03.940 more pleasant than fear, therefore, do not be anxious. Well, that is true. Fear is not pleasant,
00:01:09.800 and God is incredibly interested in our welfare, in our good, in our peace, our joy, our happiness.
00:01:18.440 God cares for us, and He doesn't want us to torment ourselves with things that are harmful to us.
00:01:24.760 But that's not all that the scripture is saying. It's not merely suggesting this is bad for you,
00:01:30.200 this other thing would be in your best interest. But by saying be anxious for nothing, what the
00:01:35.840 scripture is offering us is not just a suggestion for our welfare, but a command. And to forego
00:01:42.960 that command is in fact therefore sin. If we are commanded to be anxious for nothing, then to be
00:01:49.080 anxious for anything is to disobey God's command, and therefore it is a sin. And so the scripture is
00:01:57.140 clear that we are to be anxious for nothing, that to fear is to sin. But beyond fear merely being
00:02:05.800 a rejection of God's commandment, disobedience, and therefore sin, fear also, as I've already said,
00:02:13.040 signifies an individual or a group of people being underneath God's judgment, especially
00:02:19.520 when the fear is irrational. And that's what we see throughout the book of Joshua, and we'll see it
00:02:25.480 again in further chapters, that as the people of Israel and the nation of Israel comes against
00:02:32.020 their enemies, oftentimes what happens is that their enemies, their hearts are melted like wax,
00:02:39.080 that their hearts and spirit give way to fear and irrationally so that when the spies are sent out
00:02:49.320 ahead of time and they they find lodging in the house of Rahab and she hides them from the men of
00:02:55.860 Jericho so that they might escape with their lives one of the things that Rahab says to these
00:03:02.580 Israelite spies is she says, I want to make peace with you. I want to offer a treatise. I can't speak
00:03:09.820 for Jericho, the city as a whole, but I'm speaking for my individual family. Would you spare us? I'll
00:03:16.580 hide you and ensure your well-being, but in return, would you spare us when you conquer the city?
00:03:22.840 See, in Rahab's mind, it's a foregone conclusion that Jericho will be conquered, and that begs the
00:03:30.480 question, why? Why is Rahab so confident that Israel will be victorious and that Jericho will 0.94
00:03:37.060 be destroyed? Well, she says explicitly her reasoning, and the reasoning is she says that
00:03:42.440 her own people, the people of Jericho, there is no spirit left in them, that every man's heart
00:03:48.500 has melted within him like wax, that they've come underneath a irrational, and it being irrational,
00:03:56.340 we might even say a supernatural fear, a supernatural fear. And so giving in to fear
00:04:03.960 is always a sin and not always, but often beyond merely being a sin, it is a sign of judgment
00:04:11.860 that God has handed someone over to fear, an irrational fear, a supernatural fear that
00:04:18.640 signifies their condemnation. All right, hold up. You're not going to want to miss this. I'm going
00:04:23.280 to tell you exactly how our spring 2024 conference is going to go down. Here's the title of the
00:04:28.520 conference, Blueprints for Christendom 2.0. Subtitle, Seven Doctrines for Ruling the World.
00:04:35.500 We're going to have seven primary sessions covering each of these doctrines for ruling
00:04:40.940 the world righteously. Number one, Reformed Confessionalism. That's going to be Pastor
00:04:46.240 Doug Wilson preaching on that topic. Then we've got Covenant Theology with Pastor Brian Sauve.
00:04:51.540 Then we've got Biblical Patriarchy with Pastor Michael Foster.
00:04:55.620 Then we've got Presuppositionalism with Dr. Joseph Boot.

00:05:18.780 In addition to these seven sessions, we're also going to have not one, but two live podcasts.

00:05:39.200 The topic is going to be all about biblical patriarchy.
00:05:42.480 We're going to specifically be parsing out, distinguishing the biblical doctrinal differences
00:05:47.900 between patriarchy and complementarianism again that's friday march 1st the first day of the
00:05:53.900 conference a live theology applied podcast on biblical patriarchy then we're going to have the
00:05:59.440 next day that's saturday march 2nd a live haunted cosmos podcast i'll be hosting this discussion

00:06:11.080 talking about the watchers we're going to be talking about what creatures currently are living
00:06:15.440 underneath the surface of the earth and chasms of the deep. It's going to be wacky. It's going to be
00:06:20.060 weird, but it will also be thoroughly biblical and incredibly unhinged. So you're not going to
00:06:25.640 want to miss these two live podcasts, Theology Applied on Friday, March 1st, the first day of
00:06:31.280 the conference on biblical patriarchy with Doug Wilson, Michael Foster, Eric Kahn, and myself.
00:06:37.040 And then the next day of the conference, Saturday, March 2nd, a live Haunted Cosmos podcast with
