The legend of the Inca giants who built cities is a fascinating aspect of Andean folklore and mythology, particularly in the context of pre-Columbian South America. According to Andean legends, particularly among some indigenous groups in Peru and Bolivia, there were giants known as the Horus, who were believed to be skilled builders responsible for constructing impressive megalithic structures, including some of the iconic Inca ruins such as Machu Picchu. These legends often describe the giants as being exceptionally tall and strong, even with supernatural abilities that enable them to move massive stones and construct elaborate cities with remarkable precision.

00:00:00.200 The legend of the Inca giants who built cities is a fascinating aspect of Andean folklore and mythology,
00:00:07.500 particularly in the context of the Inca civilization of pre-Columbia, South America.
00:00:13.600 According to Andean legends, particularly among some indigenous groups in Peru and Bolivia,
00:00:19.600 there were giants known as the Horus,
00:00:22.420 who were believed to have been skilled builders responsible for constructing impressive megalithic structures,
00:00:28.260 including some of the iconic Inca ruins such as Machu Picchu.
00:00:33.460 These legends often describe the giants as being exceptionally tall and strong
00:00:38.260 even with supernatural abilities that enable them to move massive stones
00:00:43.100 and construct elaborate cities with remarkable precision.
00:00:47.420 It's said that they built these cities using only primitive tools and methods
00:00:51.400 yet the structures they created have stood the test of time
00:00:55.120 and continue to amaze archaeologists and visitors alike.
00:01:08.800 Ben, doing a little reading there?
00:01:11.160 Sorry.
00:01:13.100 A pop-out book, the highest quality of research.
00:01:16.760 That's right.
00:01:17.120 Yeah, wow.
00:01:17.820 That was, it's where you got everything you know.
00:01:20.160 Just a series of pop-up books that we keep in the...
00:01:22.620 According to most people, that is the library.
00:01:25.260 Little known fact, the Library of Alexandria
00:01:27.200 was actually constructed mainly of pop-up books.
00:01:29.100 Of pop-up books, yeah.
00:01:30.560 With wonderful color and hardback copies.
00:01:33.360 Yep, children love it.
00:01:34.940 All right, so in this episode today,
00:01:36.980 we're talking about giants.
00:01:39.100 It's a big topic, Joel.
00:01:40.220 It's a big topic.
00:01:41.400 It's massive.
00:01:42.560 I mean, this is the kind of topic that,
00:01:44.940 really, it's a topic that ascends even up into the clouds.
00:01:47.800 You have to back up ways to see it.
00:01:48.900 It just kind of towers above all the other topics.
00:01:50.600 It really does.
00:01:51.060 Right, yeah.
00:01:51.540 I mean, in order to even be able to begin addressing this topic,
00:01:54.940 it's almost like we would have to have some kind of beanstalk.
00:01:57.920 It's too on the nose.
00:01:58.560 I'm sorry.
00:01:59.000 Yeah, I can almost feel the footsteps of this topic approaching from miles away.
00:02:06.540 Your YouTube metric drop-off rate is going to be high at this point.
00:02:11.280 No, this is our best word.
00:02:12.560 Everybody's still here.
00:02:13.900 You're our people.
00:02:14.520 Congratulations.
00:02:15.020 The real ones.
00:02:15.540 Yeah, the real ones.
00:02:16.260 All right, so I think we should start with the origin,
00:02:18.500 biblical origins of giants, because we don't want to just talk.
00:02:20.940 so we want to get into some of the legends if we can like the incas i think that that's helpful
00:02:25.720 because i most legends and myth as we've already discussed in previous episodes they don't come
00:02:31.520 from nowhere yeah there's usually some underlining uh truth to it the fact that there's you know
00:02:36.660 there's a universal myth in every culture of a flood why because it happened there's a flood
00:02:42.540 right so we'll get there like cyclops right cyclops i mean if you have you know intermingling
00:02:48.080 you know, interbreeding. It could be a defect, you know, one eye kind of situation, but it's
00:02:52.400 actually a giant, you know, or it could be a giant that was in some battle and simply lost
00:02:57.840 an eye, you know, as an injury. But eventually people found this particular giant with one eye
00:03:04.140 on an island, Solomon Islands or something like that. It's written into folklore,
00:03:08.720 Cyclops. But the point is that there actually is a biblical origin story. Giants are real.
00:03:14.860 And there's a biblical origin story of getting there
00:03:17.180 that actually accounts for a lot,
00:03:19.420 not all and not necessarily every detail,
00:03:22.600 but a lot of the mythology and folklore
00:03:24.360 that we have today,
00:03:25.740 even more modern conceptions of giants.
00:03:28.120 And so we'd like to eventually get to giants in the Americas.
00:03:32.440 In South America, even North America,
00:03:34.120 people have dug up giant bones.
00:03:35.960 And it's hard to verify what is emphatically true,
00:03:40.680 but tales of not that long ago,
00:03:42.740 even just, you know, 120 years ago or so,
00:03:46.080 you know, Smithsonian deleting
00:03:48.700 and memory-holing giant bones.
00:03:50.960 Oh, yeah.
00:03:52.020 And telling everybody that it was all fake
00:03:54.140 and there was nothing real.
00:03:55.340 Absolutely.
00:03:55.580 Right.
00:03:55.980 So we'll get there.
00:03:56.840 But first, I think we should start
00:03:58.260 with the origin story.
00:03:59.760 Either of you want to do the honors of,
00:04:01.580 biblically, how do we get the giants?
00:04:03.280 Absolutely.
00:04:03.920 So, I mean, this is one of those things
00:04:06.560 that many of the topics we cover,
00:04:09.220 you don't know if it's even real
00:04:11.760 or if it's some deception of some biblical thing,
00:04:15.120 demons or whatever messing around.
00:04:17.080 But this is one, like you said, that it's in the Bible.
00:04:19.520 Yeah.
00:04:19.820 It just says it.
00:04:21.220 There they were, right?
00:04:22.900 Many times we see them develop
00:04:25.080 all the way through the Old Testament
00:04:26.280 and they begin all the way back in Genesis.
00:04:28.820 In Genesis chapter six,
00:04:30.620 we see that the sons of God came into the daughters of men. 0.92
00:04:35.180 The Nephilim were in the earth in those days
00:04:37.920 and then the mighty men of renown come from them.
00:04:41.180 And from this line, we see in Genesis 14 to 17,
00:04:46.100 it kind of region, Ben, am I remembering that right?
00:04:49.360 Where we see the first Rephaim and the-
00:04:52.380 Oh, yes, with Abraham. 0.78
00:04:53.980 Yeah, with Abraham.
00:04:54.800 Yes.
00:04:55.200 And then Numbers 13, 0.65
00:04:56.560 we continue to see them in the land of Canaan. 0.97
00:04:59.080 But they're all seeming to come
00:05:01.120 from this wellspring there in Genesis 6.
00:05:04.540 Yeah, so Genesis 6,
00:05:06.740 the sons of God came into the daughters of men,
00:05:08.540 and the Nephilim and the mighty men of renown.
00:05:11.180 And when the translators of the Septuagint reached that section of the Bible pretty early on,
00:05:17.880 they, without hesitation and without second thought,
00:05:21.200 translated Geborim, mighty men, into giants, gigas, the Greek word for giants.
00:05:27.280 And not only that, but well before the Septuagint,
00:05:30.320 the understanding of the Jewish religious leaders were, of course, that these were real giants. 0.98
00:05:36.600 These were very tall, man-like humanoids that came from the sexual intercourse of 0.99
00:05:42.780 fallen angels with women. And then it's in Genesis 19 that we get Abraham in his kind of 0.90
00:05:49.400 rescue mission with Lot. And the reason that all of that's necessary is because these kingdoms in
00:05:54.980 the East were going to assault the Jordan Valley because the kingdoms in the Jordan Valley had
00:05:59.680 been rebelling against the kingdoms in the East. And all of the Jordan Valley people were like,
00:06:05.360 well, we don't really have to worry 0.62
00:06:06.620 because they have to come through the northern regions. 1.00
00:06:09.800 And that's where the Rephaim live. 1.00
00:06:10.560 That's where all the giants are. 1.00
00:06:11.440 That's where all the giants are.
00:06:12.020 The Zamzumim, that's where all the giants are. 1.00
00:06:14.360 So we're going to be fine. 0.89
00:06:15.660 They're not going to get through the giants.
00:06:17.380 They do.
00:06:17.880 Well, they did.
00:06:18.240 They carry off a lot.
00:06:19.520 But what's fascinating is that they're not worried
00:06:22.560 because they're like, we have an army of giants
00:06:26.000 and they're not going to let the kings from the east
00:06:27.680 just march right through their land.
00:06:29.740 And then eventually we get to the spies
00:06:31.960 that go through the promised land
00:06:33.200 and scope it out and come back.
00:06:35.360 saying that we were like grasshoppers.
00:06:36.500 We were like grasshoppers in front of these guys. 1.00
00:06:37.920 Before the Anakim. 0.98
00:06:40.240 Yes, the Anakim, the sons of Anak, 0.96
00:06:42.800 which also is sort of a word for desert and wilderness.
00:06:47.860 And I believe it's Amos that talks about them
00:06:50.240 being as tall as cedars.
00:06:51.460 Tall as cedars.
00:06:52.080 And anybody can do a Google search.
00:06:54.640 And what you'll probably find is cedar trees
00:06:57.300 being between 120, like 100 to 120 feet tall
00:07:01.440 or even 150 feet tall.
00:07:02.980 but there are particular cedars in that region i did a little bit of research of my own in a pop-up
00:07:09.220 book and uh actually on the internet so it's less reliable than a pop-up book but uh there there are
00:07:16.980 cedars in the mesopotamia uh region that are you know um anywhere from 40 to 60 feet tall um so
00:07:24.680 that's absolutely yeah i think plausible that um that giants could have been that large and we have
00:07:30.020 some theories of how they could have gotten to that height. We also have Abraham communing with
00:07:36.200 giants when he's in the promised land. Teaming up with them. Right. Teaming up with them even,
00:07:40.760 you know, with the oaks of Mamre and all the stories surrounding that. So this is something
00:07:45.420 that permeates the text of the Old Testament and the New. And it's something that has to be reckoned
00:07:51.260 with. And so, yeah, I mean, one of the things that we have to then ask is, well, what else?
00:07:57.560 What else comes from the giants?
00:07:58.840 How tall were they?
00:07:59.700 Where did they go?
00:08:00.420 What happened to them?
00:08:01.880 How did they survive the flood?
00:08:03.100 All these types of things.
00:08:04.680 Right, let's talk about,
00:08:05.480 I think that would be helpful for a moment.
00:08:07.500 Like with the flood,
00:08:10.160 there's a lot of theories of,
00:08:11.820 well, how did the giants return?
00:08:13.440 Because we know they're there pre-flood, Genesis 6.
00:08:16.720 But then we also know that from Numbers,
00:08:19.800 Joshua and the conquest of Canaan
00:08:21.780 and even still underneath Moses
00:08:24.660 as the supreme leader of Israel at that time,
00:08:28.400 that he sends out the 12 spies.
00:08:30.480 Joshua and Caleb have a good report,
00:08:32.440 but the bad report,
00:08:33.700 notice the text doesn't say with these other 10 spies
00:08:35.820 that it's a false report,
00:08:37.220 that they're spewing out lies.
00:08:38.740 And a lot of people will interpret that way
00:08:40.260 because they want to get rid of giants.
00:08:41.540 See, they're lying about the giants being there
00:08:44.060 and that we were like grasshoppers in their eyes,
00:08:47.280 you know, in their sight,
00:08:48.340 because they're just, they're lazy
00:08:49.900 or because they're fearful.
00:08:51.440 This is just to,
00:08:52.300 the language of the bad report grasshoppers is just to show you not how formidable the threat 0.90
00:08:58.600 was to Israel and what Yahweh was able to accomplish. No, no, no. It was just to show you 0.87
00:09:02.560 how sinful the 10 wicked spies were, how fearful they are that they're willing to lie and actually
00:09:08.260 embellish the threat and make it far more than it actually was, which obviously all three of us
00:09:13.160 don't take that view. I think it's not that these 10 guys are bringing a lying, deceiving report.
00:09:18.780 It's just a bad report.
00:09:20.300 Whereas Caleb and Joshua, they don't discount them.
00:09:22.580 And they could have, upon the evidence of two witnesses,
00:09:25.740 they could have said, no, no, no, no, there's no giants.
00:09:28.340 There's just straight up lying.
00:09:29.920 But that's not what they say.
00:09:31.800 In essence, I'm paraphrasing, of course,
00:09:33.960 but in essence, their counter is not, there's no giants.
00:09:37.780 Their counter is, we can take them.
00:09:39.400 Yeah, right.
00:09:40.400 The story is meant to highlight the faith of the two,
00:09:43.040 of Joshua and Caleb,
00:09:44.500 not necessarily to highlight the deception of the other ten.
00:09:47.220 Exactly. It's not so much about the fear of the 10.
00:09:49.380 It's the faith of the two.
00:09:50.420 Yeah.
00:09:51.000 Right.
00:09:51.340 Yeah. They didn't say, you guys are just exaggerating.
00:09:55.400 Grasshoppers is kind of a stretch.
00:09:56.620 They were six foot six.
00:09:58.700 You're like, hmm.
00:10:01.160 And that's something that we, you know, we'll get there in a second.
00:10:04.160 Goliath, six foot six versus nine foot nine and the royal cubit and these kind of,
00:10:08.780 but with that, so we know establishing that we have giants, large giants,
00:10:14.000 large giants, not just before the flood, but after.
00:10:17.220 So how did the giants make it through the flood?
00:10:19.200 Let's start there. 0.96
00:10:20.320 Well, the one view that I think we can all agree on is silly. 0.78
00:10:24.740 That let's just discount it right now. 0.96
00:10:26.340 It comes from a Jewish midrash of the Old Testament. 0.88
00:10:30.260 Yeah. 1.00
00:10:30.880 And it basically says that some of them, specifically Og,
00:10:34.640 who later became king of Bashan, that Moses drove out.
00:10:37.300 Og's bad. 0.90
00:10:38.660 Yep.
00:10:39.280 It was 14 feet long and six feet wide.
00:10:42.800 The story is that he clung on to the ark
00:10:45.000 and he swore to Noah and his sons,
00:10:47.700 I will be your slave forever if you help me.
00:10:50.420 And so Moses drilled a hole through the side.
00:10:53.860 Oh, yeah.
00:10:54.600 And then Moses came.
00:10:56.360 Noah was the flood guy.
00:10:58.300 And so Noah drilled a hole through the side of the ark 0.54
00:11:00.740 and he fed Og every day to help him. 0.97
00:11:03.800 As he clung there.
00:11:04.340 Right, as he clung there.
00:11:05.100 And then later he was not their slave,
00:11:07.400 but instead actually was a terror.
00:11:09.540 He went out and did bad stuff.
00:11:11.040 Gilgal, Rephaim. 1.00
00:11:12.120 Right, so I think that that's dumb. 0.98
00:11:14.560 Yeah. 0.89
00:11:14.760 But that has been an idea that has been put forward by many people.
00:11:19.220 And along, this would be in the same category of that idea.
00:11:22.600 They went underground.
00:11:24.120 Yeah.
00:11:24.580 Nope.
00:11:25.320 They built rafts.
00:11:26.640 They saw what Noah was doing or, you know, the watchers, fallen angels,
00:11:31.200 knew that the flood was coming and gave them fair warning.
00:11:33.600 And so they built their own rafts and blah, blah, blah.
00:11:36.140 I don't buy that either.
00:11:38.000 But then, you know, so that's all in one category that I think is least compelling.
00:11:41.360 Another category, and just for the record,
00:11:42.680 The reason why I think it's the least compelling is, one, we just don't have anything in the biblical narrative of somebody hanging onto the ark.
00:11:48.620 Two, because again, part of it we're thinking, you know, working within the parameters of the biblical narrative, but then the overarching character and nature of God.
00:11:57.740 So we're highlighting, you know, like the same thing we said for the 12 spies.
00:12:01.160 No, no, no.
00:12:01.980 It's not that these 10 spies are so lazy or so fearful that they're willing to lie about there being giants.
00:12:08.120 No, it's to emphasize not the fear of the 10,
00:12:10.760 but the faith of the two.
00:12:12.040 And even higher than the faith of the two
00:12:14.060 is the faithfulness of Yahweh who can,
00:12:17.820 which later, Amos talks about that. 1.00
00:12:19.540 Did I not take out the Amorites 0.58
00:12:23.240 who were as tall as cedars, right? 1.00
00:12:25.560 And that's God speaking through the prophet.
00:12:28.460 So God himself saying, I took out,
00:12:30.480 and God's not minimizing their height
00:12:32.280 because God is saying, look at what I did.
00:12:34.700 Look at my faithfulness.
00:12:35.700 I took out giants and not giants
00:12:38.660 because they were the equivalent of NBA players, right?
00:12:43.140 You get that a lot.
00:12:44.120 You know, people say, oh, they're giants today.
00:12:46.480 Yeah, they're in the NBA.
00:12:48.120 No, we're not.
00:12:49.260 Or they'll say even less than NBA players.
00:12:52.300 They'll say giants were, you know, like six feet,
00:12:54.920 but the average Israelite was 5'2", you know?
00:12:57.360 And no, I don't buy that either.
00:12:59.880 And so all that being said,
00:13:01.680 I think, you know, building rafts
00:13:03.900 or hanging onto the ark, or going underground.
00:13:07.640 The reason I don't like that, a number of reasons,
00:13:09.620 it's not in the biblical narrative,
00:13:10.840 but also I don't like it because it belittles
00:13:13.500 the character of God.
00:13:14.740 Think about this.
00:13:16.160 God sent a global flood to wipe out everything
00:13:19.720 in which there was breath in its lungs.
00:13:22.560 And the main thing he's trying to wipe out, he fails.
00:13:25.680 And also- 0.89
00:13:26.560 So he kills everything to kill primarily one thing 0.87
00:13:29.560 and doesn't kill that, but kills everything else. 0.99
00:13:31.780 Like it makes God a dummy. 0.67
00:13:33.940 Yeah, kind of a-
00:13:34.940 I reject it.
00:13:35.700 Like a child trying to figure out how to play 1.00
00:13:37.720 with a Blongo ball set, 0.98
00:13:39.580 where it's just fumbling over and over.
00:13:41.580 But even contrary to that,
00:13:42.800 the biblical narrative says that the flood succeeded
00:13:45.900 in killing everything that had breath and breath in those days.
00:13:49.020 Right.
00:13:49.300 So you would have to actually
00:13:50.880 just directly contradict scripture.
00:13:53.200 If you say that anything not on the ark survived.
00:13:56.740 Right.
00:13:57.320 Nothing that was not on the ark survived.
00:13:59.160 And it doesn't say that Og held onto the side of it. 1.00
00:14:01.380 that's jewish cope right so we're not going to handle that yep with you so um no no uh perfect 0.96
00:14:08.520 right so some people are going to go there and i think there's some credence they're perfect in
00:14:11.920 his genealogies his generations that he didn't have nephilim blood it's not corrupted um that
00:14:17.080 that's part of what the watchers the fallen angels were trying to do was to uh to corrupt the blood
00:14:20.840 line uh to ultimately um to thwart the messianic line the seed of the woman right the seed of the
00:14:26.540 woman the head of the serpent exactly that christ would eventually come from um and so well
00:14:31.200 And the reason I don't like this one too, so according to this, you have with the daughters, daughters-in-law of Noah, one in particular, Ham's wife, that she has fallen angel blood, Nephilim blood, a descendant of them. 0.56
00:14:45.860 And then through them, Cain and then his offspring become giants.
00:14:50.640 Same overarching 30,000 foot view, God sent a catastrophic global flood to wipe out everything in which there was breath in its lungs.
00:15:00.560 but the main thing that he's trying to wipe out,
00:15:03.300 he missed.
00:15:04.020 Right.
00:15:04.680 So I'm not the biggest fan of that one.
00:15:07.040 Some even say, you know,
00:15:07.940 Noah was drunk in his tent and passed out.
00:15:09.840 He was, he got drunk because he was grieving
00:15:12.580 and he was grieving because Cain had just been born, 0.79
00:15:15.120 Ham's son, Noah's grandson,
00:15:16.660 and he was born with six fingers. 0.79
00:15:19.100 Oh boy.
00:15:20.420 Interesting.
00:15:20.920 We're excited.
00:15:21.200 And so, yeah, we're excited.
00:15:22.560 I made it up.
00:15:23.000 I made it up.
00:15:23.500 I made it up.
00:15:24.120 We're excited, bong pipe.
00:15:25.360 But, you know, in that conception,
00:15:27.940 it's Noah, like this great grief of like,
00:15:29.800 you wiped out all the world, God,
00:15:32.700 and the problem's still here.
00:15:34.280 Oh no, you know, and then they would say that.
00:15:38.320 And that's why he doesn't say cursed be Ham
00:15:39.960 because of something that Ham did, 0.70
00:15:41.960 but rather cursed be Canaan. 0.99
00:15:43.840 I can see the curse in his 12 toes and 12 fingers. 0.95
00:15:48.500 It's interesting.
00:15:49.840 Yeah, it's interesting.
00:15:50.660 I prefer the interpretation that he says cursed be Canaan 0.72
00:15:54.980 because Canaan is the offspring of Ham's sin. 1.00
00:15:58.660 Right. 0.75
00:15:58.860 where Ham takes his mother and Canaan is the product of that union. 0.92
00:16:03.180 I think that tracks way better. 0.79
00:16:05.200 When it says uncovered the nakedness of his father,
00:16:07.860 this is a euphemism in scripture.
00:16:09.620 It's used for inappropriate sexual activity in general,
00:16:12.960 including uncovering the nakedness of your mother. 0.62
00:16:15.660 So that to me is much more satisfactory and fits in the immediate context.
00:16:19.820 Much more neatly.
00:16:21.280 And therefore the son is cursed because it came from an unholy. 0.98
00:16:24.360 Right. 0.98
00:16:25.200 Real quick before we continue with the show,

00:18:12.480 And now back to our program.
00:18:14.960 So then how do we get giants again after the flood?
00:18:18.460 So now we're ready to talk about legitimate theories.
00:18:21.460 Right.
00:18:21.700 the right ones, which are ours. The ones we believe. Everybody's wrong, except for me.
00:18:28.600 No. So in Genesis 6, 4, it says that the mighty men were in the earth in those days.
00:18:34.760 And when the sons of men came into the daughters of women. And the word there for when, correct me 0.96
00:18:42.780 if I'm getting the terminology wrong, but it means that whenever. The implication is at any time.
00:18:48.340 At any time this type of sin happened,
00:18:51.240 the mighty men were in the earth in those days.
00:18:54.060 Implying, and it says before and after the flood also,
00:18:57.040 implying that the way that it happened
00:18:59.460 before and after the flood
00:19:00.540 was that it happened multiple times.
00:19:02.520 So it happened before the flood, it caused the flood.
00:19:05.580 And then in their stubbornness to sin,
00:19:09.300 it happened again afterwards.
00:19:10.920 And then some of the watchers who participate,
00:19:13.300 or the watchers who participated in this the first time
00:19:15.640 were judged and bound by God
00:19:18.320 But the idea is that not all of them participated.
00:19:20.960 So not all of them were bound
00:19:22.460 and they were still available afterward to follow.
00:19:25.880 And the Watchers, just to define some terms,
00:19:27.680 when we say it happened again,
00:19:28.940 we're saying fallen angels again took daughters of men 0.96
00:19:31.540 and created this hybrid, unholy hybrid,
00:19:37.480 namely the Nephilim.
00:19:39.020 And so we're saying,
00:19:39.860 it's not that the Nephilim survived the flood
00:19:42.220 or that there was Nephilim, DNA, blood,
00:19:46.260 in Ham's wife,
00:19:50.420 but rather that God actually was successful
00:19:52.880 in eradicating what he meant to eradicate,
00:19:55.820 but that what it didn't eradicate
00:19:57.600 were the watchers themselves,
00:19:59.040 everything with breath in its lungs, right?
00:20:01.460 But the watchers having a spiritual component,
00:20:03.580 there we go, I'm being inconsistent here,
00:20:05.360 but the watchers having that,
00:20:07.300 that's an inside joke, we'll get to it later.
00:20:09.280 We'll get there when we get there.
00:20:10.440 But the watchers having a spiritual component
00:20:14.380 as angelic beings that the Nephilim, their offspring, the Nephilim, and further down the
00:20:19.060 line, giants were wiped out by the watchers themselves. And watchers, defining the term
00:20:23.360 there, is just a classification of angels. So a certain kind of angel group that fell in rebellion
00:20:28.980 against God to the earth, took the daughters of men, created the Nephilim. From the Nephilim come 0.90
00:20:33.560 the giants. God sends the flood. It wipes out Nephilim and giants, but not the watchers because
00:20:38.560 they're not strictly or at least exclusively physical beings. They don't have the breath and
00:20:43.720 the lungs at the literal capacity that all uh earthly creatures did that were wiped out uh so
00:20:49.120 they they survive the flood they're able to do that they're able to take another form or they're
00:20:53.300 able to fly or they whatever they they got to do um and then they do the deed again and the watchers 0.96
00:20:59.180 who had already done the deed um in terms of taking the daughters of men and creating the nephilim
00:21:03.240 they have been locked as a punishment uh locked in gloomy dungeons but the idea is you have two
00:21:08.720 possibilities. One is the second incursion. Another group of angels falls from heaven.
00:21:14.440 I'm less sold on that. I find it less compelling because those angels that didn't rebel against
00:21:19.500 God the first time would have seen God's judgment towards those that did. And it seems far-fetched.
00:21:27.360 It's difficult for me to believe that angels, righteous angels that remained in heaven while
00:21:33.520 others fell and saw the judgment of those who rebelled against god uh watched that said that's
00:21:38.920 a great idea i should try it um so a second encourage that for me that's harder to believe
00:21:43.380 um the uh more believable is one incursion one group of angels at one point a large group
00:21:49.540 falling from heaven but then only a subgroup so one fall one incursion one large group but then
00:21:56.160 a subgroup um actually taking the daughters of men right and and they get locked in gloomy dungeons
00:22:01.960 and then this other group over here
00:22:03.400 are already depraved, fallen, rebellious angels,
00:22:07.040 which would be more likely,
00:22:08.380 even having seen the judgment,
00:22:10.540 they would be more likely than unfallen angels.
00:22:14.620 Sinners keep sinning.
00:22:15.960 Sinners constantly think that it's gonna be different for them.
00:22:18.240 It'll work this time.
00:22:19.000 Well, for that guy, when he sinned,
00:22:20.880 like he got hit by a Mack truck of God's judgment,
00:22:23.880 but I'm special.
00:22:24.860 Or it could even be that they thought like,
00:22:27.080 okay, we're willing to be locked in gloomy dungeons,
00:22:29.120 but the big thing is to thwart the Messianic line. 0.95
00:22:32.960 And last time God sent a flood,
00:22:35.380 but we witnessed with Noah when he made a covenant
00:22:37.780 and said he won't do that again.
00:22:39.440 So now if we can do it a second time,
00:22:41.220 maybe our punishment is just as severe,
00:22:43.480 but God won't stop the product of our rebellion,
00:22:48.460 namely corrupting again the line
00:22:49.780 and maybe we can snuff out.
00:22:50.820 It's a kamikaze. 0.76
00:22:52.120 Yeah, exactly.
00:22:53.740 Well, the war's desperate. 1.00
00:22:55.720 We've got to defeat the seed of the woman. 1.00
00:22:58.220 We've got to sully this line. 1.00
00:23:00.820 Go ram your ship into the aircraft carrier. 1.00
00:23:05.340 Let's take them out. 0.98
00:23:06.520 And God raised a shield with a flood last time,
00:23:09.400 but he promised no more shields.
00:23:10.900 So this time, maybe it's the same consequence for us,
00:23:13.640 but it's worth a shot.
00:23:14.880 Some of the whole subtext of the flood narrative
00:23:16.780 is saying, look how stiff-necked the curse makes you.
00:23:22.440 And it doesn't just take a redo on creation,
00:23:26.460 on the physical part of the land to fix it.
00:23:29.880 It's not just the stuff that you have in front of you
00:23:32.040 that's making you sin.
00:23:34.140 It's what's inside of you that's making you sin.
00:23:37.220 And so to me, it wouldn't make as much sense thematically
00:23:40.960 for there to be another fall of angels
00:23:43.240 who witnessed that and then say,
00:23:44.920 we should try it again.
00:23:45.880 But instead the same group,
00:23:47.820 because it's them basically showing
00:23:49.940 what God is trying to get across to people in the flood,
00:23:53.480 which is you need something more,
00:23:55.700 Not even a global flood will save you.
00:23:57.780 We don't just need another Noah.
00:23:59.380 We need another Adam.
00:24:00.720 We need a new federal Adam.
00:24:01.720 You know, you're a righteous man.
00:24:03.320 Not even a global flood that kills everyone but you will save the world.
00:24:07.060 And even in his family, you see this obviously with him.
00:24:09.540 Right, yeah.
00:24:09.920 And that's an astonishing thing.
00:24:12.000 But the other thing I was going to say, just to keep defining terms.
00:24:15.000 So the reason that we confidently say that it was the watchers that fell
00:24:19.100 as the angelic category is because of why we know
00:24:23.100 that those watchers were bound in chains,
00:24:25.860 which is that Jude and Peter tell us so.
00:24:28.760 And their epistles later in the New Testament
00:24:30.480 were told by Jude and Peter
00:24:31.740 that the angels that committed this heinous sin
00:24:34.440 are bound in chains.
00:24:35.660 And when they're saying that,
00:24:37.480 they're referencing the first book of Enoch,
00:24:39.680 which tells us that it was the watchers.
00:24:42.460 And we know that the watchers exist
00:24:44.080 because of Daniel chapter four,
00:24:45.840 where it says that the decrees of the watchers
00:24:47.860 will bring this about.
00:24:48.740 So there is a heavenly being categorized as the watchers
00:24:53.720 And Enoch tells us that they were the ones that fell
00:24:57.460 and committed this specific sin. 1.00
00:24:59.360 And the reason we're confident that he's right about that
00:25:01.680 or whoever wrote the book of Enoch is right about saying that
00:25:04.240 is because Peter and Jude seemed to think
00:25:06.680 that the author of that book was right in saying
00:25:08.740 that they were bound in chains and gloomy dust.
00:25:10.780 And they see that author as credible.
00:25:12.400 Yes.
00:25:12.960 At least credible in that part of the story.
00:25:14.640 The apostle Paul loosely references the book of Enoch
00:25:17.520 in certain places as well and sees it as a credible source
00:25:20.500 to gain knowledge of how the world works
00:25:22.820 and things that happened in it.
00:25:25.160 Right.
00:25:25.880 Okay, so now maybe just we could think,
00:25:29.180 and that was super helpful,
00:25:30.080 just as much as we can, I think, defining terms,
00:25:32.400 like not just taking it for granted
00:25:33.640 that everybody knows.
00:25:34.400 Everybody knows.
00:25:36.020 And so now just, again, some frequently asked questions.
00:25:41.300 So let's not do the,
00:25:43.940 how could angelic beings procreate with women? 1.00
00:25:47.720 because I think we could save that
00:25:49.960 for an episode on angels that we're going to be doing.
00:25:53.440 And so talk about what are angels?
00:25:55.180 Are they physical?
00:25:55.840 Do they have seed?
00:25:57.640 Can they procreate?
00:25:58.620 All those kinds of questions
00:25:59.660 I think we can handle with angels.
00:26:01.360 So instead of how can angels procreate with human women,
00:26:06.980 another frequent question that's asked is
00:26:09.880 how can average sized human women give birth to giants?
00:26:15.240 And so this gets into, well, how giant are we talking?
00:26:17.720 so i think we can talk about that some so sizes uh but then also in terms of just the sheer physics
00:26:23.680 um how does you do that how does uh you know just i don't know let's say five foot six
00:26:28.960 you know woman give birth to a nine foot nine i mean obviously he wasn't nine foot nine then
00:26:36.840 i think we can rule that out they're born yes that's safe this isn't an ad but still right
00:26:42.500 but still a baby that's going to grow into that size
00:26:45.640 or even more so back to the grasshopper and cedar grasshopper.
00:26:49.640 We were like grasshoppers in their eyes.
00:26:51.880 The 10 spies say that and that's the book of the numbers.
00:26:54.400 And it's not said that they brought a false report,
00:26:57.280 but simply an unbelieving bad report.
00:27:01.480 And then Amos saying,
00:27:03.920 that's actually God speaking through the prophet,
00:27:06.320 the Amorites were as tall as cedars 1.00
00:27:09.400 and I wiped them out before you. 1.00
00:27:12.780 So it's not just,
00:27:15.080 because a lot of people,
00:27:15.980 they'll really, really lean on these,
00:27:19.480 but these are the fearful wicked spies saying this.
00:27:22.200 But that's not the only description of giants
00:27:24.620 in terms of scale.
00:27:26.160 There's another description of giants in terms of scale
00:27:28.960 that comes from the mouth of God through his prophet
00:27:32.100 saying, cedar, you person, them cedar,
00:27:37.000 which seems about the same scale proportionally
00:27:40.180 is them person, you grasshopper.
00:27:43.160 Sure, you know what I mean?
00:27:44.500 So it almost seems like a confirmation,
00:27:46.800 like a cedar is to a person
00:27:48.400 as a person is to a grasshopper.
00:27:50.720 So it seems like God actually, through Amos,
00:27:53.340 is agreeing in terms of at least the facts,
00:27:56.480 not the lack of faith,
00:27:57.540 but the facts of the 10 wicked spies.
00:28:00.040 So how do you get, my point is,
00:28:01.600 not just nine foot nine Goliath,
00:28:03.740 because I'm gonna argue,
00:28:04.700 and I think we would agree,
00:28:05.440 that that's kind of a watered down giant,
00:28:08.020 generations removed.
00:28:08.960 But our argument is not just how do you get a dude who grows,
00:28:12.560 and again, he doesn't start nine foot nine,
00:28:13.920 he starts as a baby,
00:28:14.660 but how do you get a baby that's still gonna grow
00:28:17.700 into almost a 10 foot giant?
00:28:19.100 But we're not even dealing with that.
00:28:20.320 We're talking about how do you have a baby, 0.98
00:28:22.580 a five foot six average size human women 0.99
00:28:25.060 give birth to a baby that might grow into a 30, 40, 1.00
00:28:29.560 50, 60 foot giant.

00:30:30.000 I have a few thoughts.
00:30:31.660 I have some too, go. 1.00
00:30:32.960 The first is if the women weren't turned into mermaids. 1.00
00:30:39.900 Okay. 1.00
00:30:41.220 It's ridiculous, but they were.
00:30:42.860 But I mean, we're not certain, 0.76
00:30:46.480 but we know that this happened.
00:30:47.760 Okay, let's just, we won't say for sure.
00:30:50.400 Let's suspend disbelief and say for just a second.
00:30:52.640 But we will say definitively, 100%.
00:30:54.400 What if they weren't?
00:30:56.180 Right.
00:30:57.020 Well, I will allow, I will suspend disbelief.
00:30:59.040 Just for the record, that same Enoch
00:31:00.800 that we were just a moment ago saying was so credible.
00:31:03.720 Yeah, I know, I know, I know, I know.
00:31:05.260 He's the guy who says that the women,
00:31:07.300 the human women who slept with fallen angels,
00:31:10.160 they, their curse was to become someone. 0.99
00:31:11.380 At least, you know what?
00:31:12.320 At least he's bold enough to come up with an idea.
00:31:14.360 You know what I mean?
00:31:14.800 Like he saw a bunch of mermaids
00:31:15.900 and he was like, how did this happen?
00:31:17.500 Man in the arena.
00:31:18.580 Yeah, that's right.
00:31:19.260 He's the man in the arena.
00:31:20.440 I thought man in the arena.
00:31:21.540 I thought you were saying manatee.
00:31:23.340 And I was about to have to go over there
00:31:24.480 and strangle you for your unbelief. 0.99
00:31:26.200 Sirens are just manatees.
00:31:27.740 No, dude.
00:31:28.420 Who hasn't looked at a manatee
00:31:29.480 thought that's like a beautiful woman no dude no matter how long he's away from his wife no dude
00:31:34.040 is going to say that's a hot i was going to say those sailors man they look in they see they start
00:31:38.500 getting desperate they're like look at those lines desperate they've been on a ship with a bunch of
00:31:43.100 dudes for like six months no one's that desperate and they're like true let's hope god's common
00:31:47.540 grace i just don't the grunting of a manatee at the surface and they're like that's the most
00:31:51.260 beautiful song i've ever heard let's go over there i'm jumping into the ocean yeah let's go
00:31:56.220 I gotta hear the manatees
00:32:00.260 Odysseus has just like been on
00:32:02.040 anyway
00:32:02.520 yeah he's just been on an island having a good time
00:32:06.040 with like a goddess
00:32:07.580 he's not desperate
00:32:09.820 unfaithful
00:32:11.300 not manatee desperate
00:32:12.340 and of course the Odyssey is historical narrative
00:32:15.460 when we say the Odyssey we're talking about like
00:32:17.380 you know there's like
00:32:18.880 Shelby's Civil War volumes
00:32:21.120 Josephus
00:32:23.060 and also
00:32:23.780 and I'm not even
00:32:25.620 I'm being unironic when I say that.
00:32:28.080 Maybe a little embellished.
00:32:30.260 Definitely throw in there,
00:32:31.280 if you didn't list it,
00:32:32.140 but Plato's conception of Atlantis.
00:32:33.940 Yes.
00:32:34.460 Oh, yes.
00:32:35.400 Critias and Timaeus.
00:32:36.660 Yes, that's all historical narrative. 1.00
00:32:38.240 So Ben has thoughts on how women big.
00:32:41.620 If none of that's true. 1.00
00:32:42.900 Giants.
00:32:43.560 Yeah. 1.00
00:32:43.880 If the women weren't mermaids, 1.00
00:32:45.780 I would be open to the interpretation 0.94
00:32:47.660 of them all dying in childbirth. 0.89
00:32:50.080 Because even though they still start,
00:32:51.700 they don't come out 10 feet tall.
00:32:53.460 Right, yeah.
00:32:54.120 Agreed.
00:32:54.780 But they'd probably be bigger than your average baby.
00:32:57.140 Yes.
00:32:57.900 I would assume.
00:32:59.020 And the world record, we confirmed this last night.
00:33:01.640 Right.
00:33:02.000 So this was a Russian woman who actually, her husband.
00:33:04.880 It would be.
00:33:05.480 Of course she was Russian.
00:33:06.660 First of all, of course, yeah.
00:33:08.300 The Russian people are strong people.
00:33:10.420 They're hardy over there.
00:33:11.360 They're hardy, yeah.
00:33:12.460 The baby's name is Boris.
00:33:14.340 And Boris.
00:33:15.320 I have love.
00:33:16.140 He grew to be 60 feet tall.
00:33:18.360 He ate people, Englishmen for breakfast, Ukrainians for breakfast. 0.95
00:33:22.840 No, anyone that wasn't Orthodox.
00:33:24.380 He ate them for breakfast. 0.63
00:33:25.640 So Captain Romius.
00:33:26.740 So I believe it was, she was 7'11",
00:33:29.400 seven feet, 11 inches tall.
00:33:31.100 Her husband, I think, was 7'9".
00:33:32.840 Which is insane.
00:33:33.300 The child was born, I believe it was,
00:33:35.040 it was either 19 or 19 to 21 pounds at birth.
00:33:40.120 And now the child did die.
00:33:41.420 She didn't die because she's massive.
00:33:43.340 Which is shocking. 0.98
00:33:44.300 You know, but 20, like 20 pounds, give or take.
00:33:47.480 And the child only, but the child was born alive
00:33:50.860 and otherwise without defect.
00:33:52.400 but only lived, I believe, just a few hours.
00:33:56.640 Okay, so let's say for the sake of the argument
00:33:59.720 that if you're going to give birth to a 25-pound baby,
00:34:02.020 you've got to be eight feet tall.
00:34:03.780 Okay, there you go, sure.
00:34:04.460 All right, so that's already ruled out.
00:34:07.140 Right.
00:34:08.400 So either they weren't 20-pound babies 0.83
00:34:10.660 or the women died in childbirth
00:34:13.780 and they were 20-pound babies
00:34:15.160 or there was something else that happened.
00:34:17.620 And I would put my hat in,
00:34:20.500 because I know you have some ideas.
00:34:21.640 And I'm sure you do too.
00:34:23.120 I have one idea that's just a possibility.
00:34:25.920 And that is that it seems that the punishment would fit the crime
00:34:28.540 if the child of this union experienced dramatic pain for their entire life.
00:34:36.000 And so what if they actually were born a normal size,
00:34:39.560 but the growth rate was so fast and it never stopped.
00:34:43.220 And so they were constantly in agonizing growing pains.
00:34:46.440 It reminds me of in the Silmarillion.
00:34:49.940 No.
00:34:50.460 Have you ever read that?
00:34:51.640 I have, actually.
00:34:53.420 In the original Elvish?
00:34:54.960 I just got done with my seventh read of the Silmarillion.
00:34:57.980 And I intend to read it two more times this year.
00:34:59.660 In the original Elvish, though?
00:35:00.260 No, not in Quenya or Sindarin.
00:35:02.820 Either.
00:35:03.500 Okay, well, neither.
00:35:04.600 I read it in the Queen's English.
00:35:06.820 Okay, good.
00:35:07.260 Well, I mean, that's still base.
00:35:08.280 Yeah, so in the Silmarillion, Morgoth, the Dark Lord,
00:35:13.060 steals these jewels, the Silmarils.
00:35:15.060 The Silmarils. 0.68
00:35:15.680 Right.
00:35:16.120 He steals these jewels because he lusts after them.
00:35:18.820 But he uses them improperly.
00:35:20.460 They're supposed to be shared with the world because they're filled with glorious light
00:35:23.980 that all men should behold.
00:35:26.220 And he hides them away in dark caverns under the earth so that only he can see.
00:35:30.560 It says that he begrudged the sight of them to all save himself and his most wicked servants.
00:35:36.920 And so what he did was he put them into an iron crown that he wore,
00:35:40.220 but that hardly anyone ever saw him wearing because he hardly let anyone ever see him
00:35:44.520 except his most close and trusted servants.
00:35:47.440 and it said that the crown became an unendurable weight
00:35:50.960 for Morgoth, but he refused to take it off.
00:35:53.680 So the punishment fits the crime.
00:35:55.940 The judgment for sin is pain.
00:35:59.340 That's what it is.
00:36:00.240 I think that's a fantastic theory.
00:36:01.540 I lean towards that,
00:36:02.920 but I think there's some other possibilities.
00:36:05.000 But Brian, did you have anything you want to?
00:36:06.300 I think once you've removed all of the possibilities,
00:36:11.840 whatever remains, no matter how improbable,
00:36:13.620 must be the truth.
00:36:14.800 Both Spock and Sherlock Holmes said that.
00:36:16.740 said that roughly um so you really just have to lay out what are the options they were normal
00:36:21.840 sized and they grew really fast right they killed the women in childbirth they were born prematurely
00:36:27.280 and then you know one of the things that you brought up last night i don't want to totally
00:36:31.220 preempt you here but this is a theme that you see running through the folklore and mythology of
00:36:38.360 the watchers and you have to understand that this basic story of the hybrid the demigod of the gods
00:36:45.980 It's lower G, coming down, breathing with women,
00:36:49.540 Greek, Roman, Canaanite, go anywhere in the world. 0.99
00:36:53.720 And you're going to find-
00:36:54.300 Modern UFO abduction.
00:36:54.760 Again, modern UFO abduction.
00:36:56.480 You're going to find this everywhere.
00:36:58.660 Right.
00:36:59.040 One of the things that you find with it
00:37:00.960 is the idea that the watchers or these gods
00:37:05.400 gave knowledge to men, technological advancement,
00:37:09.860 knowledge that was far beyond their ability.
00:37:12.720 Some of the things that we look at as mysteries
00:37:15.800 in the past, ancient technology,
00:37:18.260 ancient megalithic structures, astronomy,
00:37:21.400 some of the knowledge that they seem to have
00:37:23.360 and abilities were just absolutely mind-blowing to us.
00:37:27.940 Some of the things that we would struggle
00:37:29.560 to replicate today with all of the knowledge
00:37:33.100 that we stand with.
00:37:33.960 Right, we're not just talking about pyramids
00:37:35.360 and like, wow, that's fascinating
00:37:36.600 that we're actually disparaging them as patronizing. 0.94
00:37:39.060 It's like, that's fascinating for you, Neanderthal. 0.90
00:37:41.140 But like, I mean, even in Egypt, 0.67
00:37:43.020 they've found like hieroglyphics.
00:37:48.040 Hieroglyphics.
00:37:48.780 Perfect.
00:37:49.200 I'm not going to try it again.
00:37:50.620 Because third time's the charm,
00:37:52.420 but also three strikes and you're out.
00:37:53.900 Three strikes and you're out.
00:37:54.500 It's just not worth it.
00:37:55.300 You actually legally have to leave the show.
00:37:56.980 They have found pictures of batteries.
00:38:00.420 Yeah.
00:38:00.960 Batteries.
00:38:01.900 You don't think of like electricity
00:38:04.280 and Mayan and acid,
00:38:05.840 like plumbing and all,
00:38:07.200 like very sophisticated.
00:38:09.120 So they've got these
00:38:10.040 very sophisticated technologies
00:38:11.460 and the mythological accounts again and again
00:38:14.580 connect it to knowledge given inappropriately,
00:38:19.100 sinfully by the gods.
00:38:20.940 By someone from the stars. 1.00
00:38:22.580 The Anunnaki. 1.00
00:38:23.580 Yeah, the Anunnaki. 0.54
00:38:24.880 We're talking everywhere.
00:38:26.400 So it was fascinating to me when you mentioned the idea
00:38:29.120 that, well, maybe these were premature
00:38:31.740 or maybe, I mean, if we can do Caesarian sections today,
00:38:35.320 who's to say?
00:38:36.200 And people think, well, that's crazy.
00:38:37.900 Well, why?
00:38:38.680 Like we figured it out.
00:38:40.160 Why would it be crazy?
00:38:41.040 Or even an external womb 1.00
00:38:42.500 that's actually not in the woman's body.
00:38:44.700 You want to go one step further to just say 1.00
00:38:46.480 they mastered what our demons are trying to do today.
00:38:50.860 Still, they were trying to do then as well.
00:38:53.520 This anti-image of God, anti-natalist,
00:38:56.460 just perversion of God's design.
00:38:58.400 Absolutely. 0.98
00:38:58.940 Spit in God's face.
00:39:00.340 So I think that's an interesting theory
00:39:02.340 that I'd never connected this particular line
00:39:04.840 of questioning to that data point before.
00:39:07.900 I thought this question was going to be silly.
00:39:09.860 Yeah.
00:39:10.400 But it's not.
00:39:10.960 It's actually helping me think through this.
00:39:13.180 I never thought to ask this question.
00:39:14.980 And I thought to ask it, thanks to all of you folks,
00:39:18.520 because we've done some videos on the giants
00:39:20.660 and things like this before.
00:39:22.180 And that was one of the frequently asked questions.
00:39:25.180 Because I didn't think of it,
00:39:27.640 it just didn't seem like, oh, I got to figure that out.
00:39:29.940 But the more people, more and more people,
00:39:31.880 those are the two big questions.
00:39:33.060 How could angels procreate with women, human women? 0.80
00:39:36.740 But then the other one, and that one I get, right? 0.99
00:39:39.140 I already had that question myself.
00:39:40.560 and we'll address that when we talk about angels.
00:39:42.900 At length.
00:39:43.400 But at length, and spoiler alert,
00:39:48.960 basically just the answer, it's all in the Nicene Creed.
00:39:52.000 It's right there.
00:39:52.640 If you affirm, if you're a Nicene Creed, enjoy it.
00:39:55.680 Enjoy it, yeah.
00:39:56.020 You're going to have no problem with it.
00:39:56.760 Which you should be. 0.53
00:39:58.120 If you're a Nicene denier, then you're going to hate it.
00:39:59.860 Get out of here.
00:40:00.640 Like, come on guys, just repent.
00:40:03.040 Repent.
00:40:03.540 L plus ratio plus repent plus find God.
00:40:06.700 Yeah, there you go.
00:40:07.340 but but i i just noticed a lot of people were asking they weren't just curious about that but 1.00
00:40:12.160 they were you know comment after comment saying no way an average size chick can give birth to 0.98
00:40:18.760 i've seen childbirth six times yeah and fair enough fair enough yeah fair enough so but then
00:40:24.820 that got me thinking and it's like one uh ben ben's theory is absolutely plausible that uh
00:40:30.860 that they just kept growing they don't they didn't cap out at 18 years old or whatever
00:40:35.080 but just kept growing and growing even,
00:40:37.220 not just growing for a long time,
00:40:39.120 but even by 18, they're much taller.
00:40:41.380 Yeah.
00:40:42.000 So they're growing-
00:40:43.220 Faster and longer.
00:40:44.220 And longer.
00:40:44.760 If you grew at the rate a baby grows
00:40:46.720 in its first 18 months of life continually,
00:40:49.940 you would be 60 feet tall before time.
00:40:53.020 And at that time period, there were longer lifespans.
00:40:55.760 And we've already addressed some of that primary water theory.
00:40:57.840 Check it out.
00:40:58.700 Hollow earth.
00:41:00.160 But, you know, so if you're growing
00:41:01.880 over the course of your entire life until you die,
00:41:04.140 And let's say you live 300 years, you know,
00:41:06.640 and maybe they had a shorter lifespan.
00:41:08.360 And that's what I'm saying, 300,
00:41:09.640 when other guys are living 600, 700 years. 0.84
00:41:11.660 I mean, you start to understand the Enochian mile hires. 0.93
00:41:14.840 The L's, the 3,000 L's. 0.99
00:41:16.540 Yeah, exactly.
00:41:17.000 So maybe you still, you know,
00:41:18.480 plateaus aren't necessarily calcified tree stumps.
00:41:20.780 Maybe not that unhinged, you know,
00:41:23.860 but God bless you for those of you who are listening.
00:41:25.540 You know, but, you know, it's possible.
00:41:29.820 We're not completely discounting.
00:41:31.240 I'm just signaling Ben, like, we can't say that.
00:41:32.840 But I think that you could have absolutely
00:41:37.480 full of cedars.
00:41:41.360 Yes.
00:41:41.920 Cedars are not three miles high.
00:41:43.540 I'm even willing to...
00:41:44.780 And God says it.
00:41:45.900 Right.
00:41:46.700 So we know at minimum,
00:41:49.800 at minimum,
00:41:50.980 these giants were about 14 feet tall.
00:41:54.260 Absolutely.
00:41:54.660 Because of Og.
00:41:55.200 Because of Og.
00:41:55.800 We have the measurements of his bed.
00:41:57.340 It wasn't some sort of like sex ritual bed thing from Babylon.
00:42:00.480 The point of saying how big the giant's bed was 0.84
00:42:02.820 wasn't to say he was a normal-sized guy with a big bed.
00:42:05.660 Right, it was to say, look at how big he is.
00:42:07.760 What a weird interpretation.
00:42:09.120 So it's 14 feet long, 6 feet wide.
00:42:10.780 He's at least 14 feet tall.
00:42:11.900 And it's also not to talk about polyamory
00:42:14.300 and the fact that in his royal power,
00:42:17.100 he had more than one woman.
00:42:18.720 Abraham had more than everybody.
00:42:20.620 A lot of people did back then.
00:42:21.600 Guys, Solomon had an embarrassing number. 0.89
00:42:24.080 Solomon's bed was not big enough for 1,000 women. 1.00
00:42:26.080 Right, exactly.
00:42:26.560 So it's not a brag about him being a Chad
00:42:29.680 and pulling in chicks.
00:42:30.920 Like, that's not-
00:42:31.500 The red pill guys love Aug.
00:42:33.140 Yeah.
00:42:33.480 That should tell you all you need to know.
00:42:34.440 Yeah, they're the Pua guys. 0.91
00:42:36.100 So that's not what it's about.
00:42:37.320 No, he's a large man.
00:42:39.140 Right.
00:42:39.500 So minimum 14 feet.
00:42:41.300 Right.
00:42:41.540 Okay.
00:42:41.780 And that's even after
00:42:42.820 what I would say is some dilution
00:42:44.540 from the pure blood.
00:42:46.120 Intermingling with normal-sized people.
00:42:48.580 Because he seems to be a remnant.
00:42:49.920 A holdover. 0.55
00:42:50.820 Because he's like the last one outside of-
00:42:52.780 Exactly.
00:42:53.180 So he is big for his day.
00:42:54.640 Right.
00:42:55.180 And that's part of why he's-
00:42:55.900 In giant culture,
00:42:57.200 you're the king if you're the biggest.
00:42:59.020 Which, hey, we should bring that rule back.
00:43:02.360 Well, until later, I think later on,
00:43:04.600 once you get to Goliath,
00:43:05.800 instead of you're the king for being the biggest,
00:43:07.540 it may be kind of like a situation of orcs and cave trolls.
00:43:10.700 The cave troll's not king.
00:43:12.280 He's a slave of the orcs. 0.96
00:43:13.900 Like, bring in the cave troll. 0.95
00:43:15.340 They have a cave troll.
00:43:16.360 And when you think of it,
00:43:17.200 so Goliath has four,
00:43:18.640 but there's five of them in all.
00:43:20.740 And there's five capital cities in Philistia.
00:43:23.920 And to me, it seems as though the kings
00:43:25.680 were Philistines themselves, 0.94
00:43:27.300 but the giants, after Joshua wiped them all out, 0.67
00:43:30.220 the remnant, the last little remnant that remained,
00:43:32.220 they went to Gaza and to Gath
00:43:33.640 and a couple of other places.
00:43:35.100 And so it makes me think that the Philistines as a country,
00:43:38.220 when the giants ran to them, 0.63
00:43:39.420 instead of just killing them all off
00:43:41.000 as they were running from Joshua,
00:43:42.980 they kept a few and breeded them and stuff
00:43:45.500 as kind of like their prize visit.
00:43:47.300 We, our town has a giant.
00:43:49.260 So it's like, here's our champion.
00:43:51.200 On a leash. 1.00
00:43:51.800 But my point is, because you'll find burials
00:43:53.700 or you'll at least hear these stories
00:43:55.020 of a bunch of normal-sized bones and one giant.
00:43:58.140 Can you imagine if you had a right-response giant?
00:44:01.500 Oh, yeah.
00:44:02.120 What would we do?
00:44:02.660 We just don't talk about it.
00:44:04.620 The first rule of right-response is we don't talk about a right-response giant.
00:44:08.140 That's my bad.
00:44:09.240 Disregard.
00:44:09.640 My point is, giants, at a certain point,
00:44:12.740 I think an earlier point, like Aug, in terms of timeline,
00:44:16.640 giants, I think, if you're the giant, the biggest person there,
00:44:19.380 you're probably the king. 0.64
00:44:20.400 Sure. 0.94
00:44:20.840 Later on, that's like a goblin kind of situation, the goblin king.
00:44:23.680 But then later on, like in a Goliath situation,
00:44:27.520 I think you actually might be the slave.
00:44:29.280 You might be the mascot. 0.93
00:44:30.400 You're their warlord. 1.00
00:44:31.300 Go out and you're their killing machine. 1.00
00:44:34.580 Right. 0.98
00:44:34.980 You're the champion that taunts the other side.
00:44:39.400 Like the gladiator.
00:44:39.900 Just like what Goliath did.
00:44:41.040 So where I was going, though, is minimum 14 feet tall,
00:44:44.800 and that's after some dilution, some generations of dilution.
00:44:48.100 Have you ever seen a 14-foot tall thing?
00:44:52.100 It's much bigger than you.
00:44:53.940 Oftentimes we can think, oh, 14 feet.
00:44:56.340 Well, I'm six foot five.
00:44:57.820 14 feet's not that tall.
00:44:59.960 No, that's over twice your height.
00:45:02.140 And six five is big.
00:45:03.680 I'm pretty close.
00:45:04.400 Six five is huge.
00:45:05.520 Dude, when I tow up to a giant.
00:45:07.120 So when you see these pictograms where they say like average size guy, you know, six foot.
00:45:14.760 And then they put Aug next to him.
00:45:17.460 It's enormous.
00:45:18.660 So I'm even willing to say
00:45:20.420 that Amos has some prophetic language
00:45:23.340 and maybe it's not an exact ratio.
00:45:26.200 Maybe it's, they're as cedars to us.
00:45:29.140 They are as, or we're as grasshoppers to them, et cetera.
00:45:32.900 I'm willing to say like,
00:45:34.000 maybe there's some prophetic hyperbole in there.
00:45:37.640 Yeah, I think there's probably a little bit of hyperbole.
00:45:39.460 But the point is, it's also as if.
00:45:43.720 Like they are as if they are cedars.
00:45:45.880 They might as well be for all intents and purposes.
00:45:47.880 That's what I'm saying.
00:45:48.380 There's no comparison.
00:45:49.020 You still wouldn't ever go up to a six foot six guy,
00:45:51.340 even if you were five foot eight.
00:45:52.660 That's where you're going, Ben.
00:45:53.100 Yeah, I know, yeah.
00:45:53.720 So you may not say like, you know-
00:45:56.600 Maybe not 60 feet.
00:45:57.560 You may not say, oh, that person is,
00:45:59.280 I measured it, it's 60 feet.
00:46:00.980 But you might say like, I am afraid
00:46:03.700 and that guy looks like a tree.
00:46:06.120 Yeah.
00:46:06.400 And you'd be right to say that.
00:46:07.640 Yep.
00:46:08.480 What he's, so he may not be 60 feet.
00:46:10.240 He might be 15.
00:46:11.500 He might be 25.
00:46:12.720 That's-
00:46:13.080 Might be 59.
00:46:14.120 He might be 59.
00:46:15.020 All that I think is within the realm of biblical reason.
00:46:17.880 However, one thing that we know he's not
00:46:21.120 is he's not six foot six.
00:46:22.880 Yeah, he's not a foot taller than-
00:46:25.120 Which, and so now that brings us to Goliath.
00:46:27.020 So now even more diluted from the giants before the flood.
00:46:31.240 So I think Noah giants were probably the biggest.
00:46:33.900 Then you got Joshua type giants.
00:46:35.740 I think those are really big too
00:46:36.980 because if it's the angels doing it again,
00:46:39.760 then you still kind of have first generation again,
00:46:42.000 Nephilim and the giants.
00:46:42.600 F1, F2, F3.
00:46:43.520 So those could be similar size.
00:46:45.640 And then you have Og.
00:46:47.440 I think that's already tapering off.
00:46:49.100 I think Og is tapering off because he's a remnant. 0.99
00:46:51.880 He says he's the last Rephaim east of Jordan. 0.83
00:46:53.740 Exactly.
00:46:54.320 And the Rephaim, even in that word,
00:46:55.960 is contained like not just giant.
00:46:58.620 It means giant.
00:46:59.800 But in some translations,
00:47:01.240 it's contained not just size and giant,
00:47:03.320 but some of these different tribes,
00:47:05.040 it refers to sizes,
00:47:06.400 but it also refers to abilities and techniques, skills.
00:47:09.540 So Rephaim, some translate that as healer.
00:47:12.840 And it's debatable whether or not,
00:47:14.460 the Rephaim, a particular strain of giants, 1.00
00:47:17.440 with their gigantic size
00:47:20.020 from that particular watcher and Nephilim line
00:47:23.240 if they didn't also have healing,
00:47:26.080 either supernatural healing abilities
00:47:27.860 from having some of the DNA
00:47:29.820 of their ancient father, the watcher,
00:47:32.220 or simply at least knew the technique within there.
00:47:36.180 Because the knowledge, exactly.
00:47:37.840 Fascinating.
00:47:38.500 And the witchcraft and the...
00:47:40.200 Yeah, because Asclepius, the Greek god of Pharmakeia,
00:47:43.300 was also the god of the serpent.
00:47:45.340 He had the serpent.
00:47:45.860 And he had the gift of resurrection.
00:47:47.940 Wow, fascinating.
00:47:48.720 There you go.
00:47:49.240 So the point is,
00:47:49.900 so you have giants at different time periods
00:47:52.460 and I think in general, they taper off.
00:47:54.680 So Goliath, we're gonna say nine foot nine,
00:47:57.020 not six foot six.
00:47:57.820 We'll get to that.
00:47:58.840 Back up though, Og,
00:48:00.360 we're not saying,
00:48:01.220 oh, he's written down,
00:48:02.740 gets his special little section in the Bible
00:48:04.060 because he's the biggest giant ever.
00:48:05.200 No, no, he's the biggest at that time. 0.97
00:48:07.040 He's the remnant of the Rephaim 1.00
00:48:08.380 and then going back to his father's, 1.00
00:48:11.220 the Rephaim and days of Joshua,
00:48:13.220 easily could be also 14 foot,
00:48:15.300 but also could be 25 is reasonable 50 is is possible it's at least possible and then pre-flood
00:48:22.880 same kind of scenario and if anything maybe even larger because of some canopy oxygen that you know
00:48:27.660 hyperbolic chamber uh you know there's some other factors as well could be even bigger could be
00:48:32.180 noah giants could be 80 feet tall who knows but then beyond just sizes you have different so
00:48:37.240 different time periods of sizes but then different tribes that could also give variance of sizes but
00:48:42.380 definitely give variance in terms of if not supernatural abilities contained innately
00:48:47.520 within them, at least techniques and knowledge. Oh yeah. And that's super fascinating. Yeah.
00:48:52.760 Decline. That is really fascinating. It's not one thing we know, just again,
00:48:57.000 it's not a six foot six dude. And if I see any comments on this video that say the Giants are
00:49:01.680 alive today, they're in the NBA, I'm banning you from the channel. Do we explain that? No. Where
00:49:06.860 that came from? No. Explain it. You should tell, okay, explain how this happened. Because it's a
00:49:11.520 common argument that you will hear. The reason that we know this is because in Goliath's narrative,
00:49:17.720 we hear how he was, you know, what is the cubit measurement? Three cubits, isn't that? Or four
00:49:24.060 cubits is what it says? I think it's like three and a half. Something like that. But here's the
00:49:29.680 point. Before we even get to Goliath and the whole scene with the Philistines, we hear a little bit
00:49:34.120 about King Saul. The average height of the, of the Israel male around the time of King Saul was
00:49:42.240 about five, seven. We're told that King Saul stood a full head above the entire assembly of Israel.
00:49:47.740 Right. So he's over six feet. He's a tall guy. Cause it says Goliath was Goliath of Gath. There
00:49:53.300 came out of the camp of the Philistines, a champion named Goliath of Gath. This is first 1.00
00:49:56.820 Samuel 17, four, uh, whose height was six cubits and a span. Okay. Six cubits. And then it describes
00:50:03.380 So six and a half cubits, not three and a half.
00:50:06.340 It describes his mail.
00:50:07.440 He had a helmet of bronze on his head.
00:50:09.320 He was armed with a coat of mail
00:50:10.480 and the weight of the coat of mail
00:50:12.240 was 5,000 shekels of bronze
00:50:15.040 and his shekel was about 11 grams each.
00:50:17.980 He had bronze armor on his legs
00:50:19.800 and a javelin of bronze slung between his shoulders.
00:50:22.500 The shaft of his spear was like a weaver's beam.
00:50:24.900 Very huge thick.
00:50:26.360 And his spear's head weighed 600 shekels,
00:50:28.460 just the head.
00:50:29.600 And his shield bear went before him.
00:50:31.580 So we got about a 30 pound shield head,
00:50:33.140 about 120 pound coat of armor
00:50:34.780 and he stands six cubits in a span or whatever.
00:50:38.740 So we know that King Saul was about 6'5 to 6'8.
00:50:43.820 Tall guy, genuinely tall.
00:50:46.360 About a foot taller than the average.
00:50:47.720 About a foot taller than the average.
00:50:49.380 And we know that he was deathly afraid of Goliath.
00:50:53.100 Right.
00:50:53.740 Presumably because of the size.
00:50:55.640 So King Saul is going to be deathly afraid.
00:50:57.960 And he was a warrior, by the way.
00:50:59.220 Yes, yeah.
00:50:59.720 King Saul is going to be deathly afraid of a guy
00:51:01.920 who's actually an inch shorter.
00:51:03.980 Saul has slain his thousands.
00:51:05.300 And so here's what happened.
00:51:06.260 This is what happened.
00:51:07.480 Was that the ESV?
00:51:08.580 The ESV.
00:51:09.000 So the ESV does this properly.
00:51:10.460 That's why it says six.
00:51:12.160 Other translations that are basing it off the Septuagint
00:51:14.680 will say three cubits in a span.
00:51:17.020 Was the cubits 18 inches?
00:51:18.320 Yeah, thereabouts.
00:51:18.960 Foot and a half.
00:51:19.740 But not to the Septuagint writers.
00:51:22.060 Yeah.
00:51:22.700 The span measurement in Alexandria
00:51:25.880 where the Septuagint was written
00:51:27.660 was different from the measurement
00:51:30.420 of the ancient Hebrew cubit.
00:51:32.080 The royal cubit?
00:51:33.100 Yes.
00:51:33.640 And so they were reading the ancient Hebrew text,
00:51:36.360 which said that it was six cubits in a span.
00:51:39.240 They're saying, well, their cubit was different from ours.
00:51:41.960 So we're going to translate it into our measurement
00:51:44.060 so that the Greek speakers know what the actual height was.
00:51:47.980 So they say three.
00:51:49.320 Well, then a lot of the English translations
00:51:51.180 that do like majority text,
00:51:53.760 base it off of the Septuagint because it's the oldest
00:51:55.960 or the eclectic.
00:51:57.600 They base it off the Septuagint
00:51:58.960 because it's the oldest that we have access to.
00:52:01.040 And they just say, it's three cubits.
00:52:03.000 Yeah, it's translated directly back over.
00:52:04.120 But in English, that's only 18 inches.
00:52:06.220 And so he ends up being about the size of King Saul.
00:52:08.420 Yeah.
00:52:08.860 But if you actually base it off
00:52:10.860 of what the Hebrew writers meant originally,
00:52:13.600 which when they translated it back into the Hebrew
00:52:15.880 from the Septuagint again, they made this switch.
00:52:19.020 They say that it was six cubits,
00:52:20.900 assuming the cubit is 18 inches.
00:52:23.040 So the cubit for the Alexandrians was about 36 inches.
00:52:26.520 Yeah.
00:52:27.160 And if you see, it's funny,
00:52:28.560 if you watch with the armor weights.
00:52:30.380 Which is nine foot nine, just for the record.
00:52:31.720 It's almost 10 feet tall.
00:52:33.040 Let's call it 10 feet.
00:52:33.700 It's a cubit, right?
00:52:35.160 So two cubits is three feet.
00:52:37.280 And then six is going to be nine feet
00:52:39.180 in a span, half of a cubit, 18, half of that is nine, nine, nine.
00:52:42.740 Yeah, so there's a YouTube channel that I've watched
00:52:47.160 that is, I don't know if I'll say the name, whatever.
00:52:51.240 Right Response Ministries?
00:52:52.140 Other than Right Response, it's a gun channel.
00:52:53.940 Okay.
00:52:54.320 Which you've got guns every time you come on here,
00:52:56.800 don't get me wrong.
00:52:57.440 they had one of the world's strongest guys lifting the sword that they forged it's huge
00:53:04.380 it's like solid steel big old sword and this guy is a strongman competition type weight lifter not 0.87
00:53:11.500 the really cut gay bodybuilder ones that oil themselves up but the ones that like actually 0.96
00:53:15.440 lift the heaviest thing and he was trying to lift this and it wasn't that heavy relatively speaking 0.96
00:53:20.720 when you you heard how much it was it was like maybe 100 pounds or something or 80 pounds and
00:53:25.240 They could not swing it properly.
00:53:27.420 When you understand what they're describing
00:53:29.580 for Goliath's armor,
00:53:31.160 to effectively wield it in battle,
00:53:34.020 he would have had to be massively strong.
00:53:36.720 Not just six foot six, strongman competition strong.
00:53:40.300 He would have had to have the strength
00:53:41.660 of mechanical advantage.
00:53:42.760 It would have been superhuman.
00:53:43.720 Big enough for it to be proportional to him.
00:53:47.920 So that's another argument, in my opinion,
00:53:50.500 that when you look at the text,
00:53:51.940 and it's like, really?
00:53:53.920 And also, right.
00:53:54.820 This reminds me, by the way, just while I'm,
00:53:57.240 you know what really grinds my gears?
00:53:58.720 This reminds me of like the Red Sea crossing.
00:54:02.000 It was really like they crossed the Sea of Reeds.
00:54:04.400 Yeah.
00:54:04.740 And the wind blew the water
00:54:06.060 and it's only 18 inches deep there.
00:54:08.160 And so they were able to weigh its materialist.
00:54:10.160 Yeah, it's like, it was just a strong wind.
00:54:12.380 D is supernaturalizing the Bible.
00:54:14.100 And I'm like, no, no, no.
00:54:15.040 Prince of Egypt, Moses stood in front of the thing
00:54:17.460 and whales swam by.
00:54:18.840 Yes.
00:54:19.220 Like, I don't even care if there are whales in the Red Sea.
00:54:21.360 I don't know.
00:54:21.980 There are, but there were then.
00:54:24.080 You know what I'm saying?
00:54:24.820 because the earth was cool.
00:54:25.900 Goliath was not six feet tall.
00:54:28.140 Moses did not walk through ankle deep water
00:54:30.880 at the Sea of Reeds.
00:54:32.160 Jesus really did rise from the dead.
00:54:34.620 Come on, guys.
00:54:35.400 Don't you think we would have some comment in scripture
00:54:38.020 that says like, by the way,
00:54:39.740 it's pretty lame of Saul to be scared
00:54:41.860 because they were basically the same.
00:54:43.700 Or wouldn't we hear something like,
00:54:45.700 and King Saul was a giant among the men of Israel.
00:54:48.180 But it doesn't say anything.
00:54:49.280 It just says, he was very tall. 0.72
00:54:50.900 He was a head taller than the men of Israel.
00:54:52.860 Also, there was a giant over there.
00:54:54.280 one says this is a tall guy the other says giant yeah whole other class yes of thing
00:55:02.660 right over there okay so let's get some final thoughts and then i think let's let's round out
00:55:06.800 this episode just our final word for this episode and then next episode and brian and i will both
00:55:12.580 just ben is going to pick us up on his back and carry us i you know i can't carry you like no
00:55:18.200 but i can carry you we're going to be like og yeah we're going to be like but we'll lean heavily
00:55:23.960 on Ben and then take this giant
00:55:26.100 conversation to a part two in terms
00:55:28.040 of giants
00:55:29.700 possibly today, but then also
00:55:31.980 more recent folklore and different
00:55:33.920 because I think it'd just be fascinating to, with
00:55:36.020 the cold open, pick back up with
00:55:37.600 the Incas or talk about
00:55:39.880 just different giants in different
00:55:41.980 realms, Cyclops and things like the
00:55:43.940 Solomon Islands, you know, all the
00:55:45.920 Kandahar giant, you know,
00:55:47.400 to talk about, you love to see it.
00:55:50.020 And people did see it.
00:55:51.480 The Jolly Green Giant.
00:55:52.280 weren't allowed to.
00:55:52.800 Yeah, the Jolly Green Giant.
00:55:54.780 A terror.
00:55:55.240 But pick up the, you know,
00:55:57.340 let's do, so Giants Today episode,
00:56:00.040 you know, or Giants of recent, you know,
00:56:03.240 but let's finish this with the Goliath,
00:56:05.060 the nine foot nine, six foot six.
00:56:06.560 He was nine foot nine.
00:56:07.580 Yes.
00:56:08.200 And bring it home.
00:56:09.440 Any final thoughts for this?
00:56:10.660 Because this gave us a good giant origin story.
00:56:13.860 Yeah. 0.97
00:56:14.740 Biblically.
00:56:16.220 Absolutely massive episode, guys.
00:56:17.760 Like nothing to add.
00:56:19.440 W's in the chat.
00:56:20.260 Yeah.
00:56:20.620 Fantastic. 0.90
00:56:21.000 The size of this dub, as big as Goliath.
00:56:25.280 As big as odd.
00:56:26.200 Not small.
00:56:27.160 A giant room to the earth, and let that never grow mundane to you.
00:56:30.400 Beautiful.
00:56:31.020 All right, thanks for tuning in.
