00:02:20.940 so we want to get into some of the legends if we can like the incas i think that that's helpful

00:02:31.520 from nowhere yeah there's usually some underlining uh truth to it the fact that there's you know

00:02:36.660 there's a universal myth in every culture of a flood why because it happened there's a flood

00:02:42.540 right so we'll get there like cyclops right cyclops i mean if you have you know intermingling

00:02:48.080 you know, interbreeding. It could be a defect, you know, one eye kind of situation, but it's

00:02:52.400 actually a giant, you know, or it could be a giant that was in some battle and simply lost

00:02:57.840 an eye, you know, as an injury. But eventually people found this particular giant with one eye

00:03:04.140 on an island, Solomon Islands or something like that. It's written into folklore,

00:03:08.720 Cyclops. But the point is that there actually is a biblical origin story. Giants are real.

00:03:17.180 that actually accounts for a lot,

00:03:19.420 not all and not necessarily every detail,

00:03:22.600 but a lot of the mythology and folklore

00:05:30.320 the understanding of the Jewish religious leaders were, of course, that these were real giants. 0.98

00:05:54.980 the East were going to assault the Jordan Valley because the kingdoms in the Jordan Valley had

00:05:59.680 been rebelling against the kingdoms in the East. And all of the Jordan Valley people were like,

00:07:09.220 book and uh actually on the internet so it's less reliable than a pop-up book but uh there there are

00:07:16.980 cedars in the mesopotamia uh region that are you know um anywhere from 40 to 60 feet tall um so

00:07:24.680 that's absolutely yeah i think plausible that um that giants could have been that large and we have

00:07:30.020 some theories of how they could have gotten to that height. We also have Abraham communing with

00:07:36.200 giants when he's in the promised land. Teaming up with them. Right. Teaming up with them even,

00:07:40.760 you know, with the oaks of Mamre and all the stories surrounding that. So this is something

00:07:45.420 that permeates the text of the Old Testament and the New. And it's something that has to be reckoned

00:07:51.260 with. And so, yeah, I mean, one of the things that we have to then ask is, well, what else?

00:07:57.560 What else comes from the giants?

00:07:58.840 How tall were they?

00:07:59.700 Where did they go?

00:08:00.420 What happened to them?

00:08:01.880 How did they survive the flood?

00:08:03.100 All these types of things.

00:08:10.160 there's a lot of theories of,

00:08:13.440 Because we know they're there pre-flood, Genesis 6.

00:08:16.720 But then we also know that from Numbers,

00:08:19.800 Joshua and the conquest of Canaan

00:08:21.780 and even still underneath Moses

00:08:24.660 as the supreme leader of Israel at that time,

00:08:28.400 that he sends out the 12 spies.

00:08:30.480 Joshua and Caleb have a good report,

00:08:32.440 but the bad report,

00:08:33.700 notice the text doesn't say with these other 10 spies

00:08:35.820 that it's a false report,

00:08:37.220 that they're spewing out lies.

00:08:38.740 And a lot of people will interpret that way

00:08:40.260 because they want to get rid of giants.

00:08:41.540 See, they're lying about the giants being there

00:08:44.060 and that we were like grasshoppers in their eyes,

00:08:47.280 you know, in their sight,

00:08:48.340 because they're just, they're lazy

00:08:52.300 the language of the bad report grasshoppers is just to show you not how formidable the threat 0.90

00:09:02.560 how sinful the 10 wicked spies were, how fearful they are that they're willing to lie and actually

00:09:08.260 embellish the threat and make it far more than it actually was, which obviously all three of us

00:09:13.160 don't take that view. I think it's not that these 10 guys are bringing a lying, deceiving report.

00:09:20.300 Whereas Caleb and Joshua, they don't discount them.

00:09:22.580 And they could have, upon the evidence of two witnesses,

00:09:25.740 they could have said, no, no, no, no, there's no giants.

00:11:38.000 But then, you know, so that's all in one category that I think is least compelling.

00:11:42.680 The reason why I think it's the least compelling is, one, we just don't have anything in the biblical narrative of somebody hanging onto the ark.

00:11:48.620 Two, because again, part of it we're thinking, you know, working within the parameters of the biblical narrative, but then the overarching character and nature of God.

00:11:57.740 So we're highlighting, you know, like the same thing we said for the 12 spies.

00:12:01.980 It's not that these 10 spies are so lazy or so fearful that they're willing to lie about there being giants.

00:12:08.120 No, it's to emphasize not the fear of the 10,

00:12:10.760 but the faith of the two.

00:13:10.840 but also I don't like it because it belittles

00:13:16.160 God sent a global flood to wipe out everything

00:13:19.720 in which there was breath in its lungs.

00:13:22.560 And the main thing he's trying to wipe out, he fails.

00:13:29.560 and doesn't kill that, but kills everything else. 0.99

00:14:31.200 And the reason I don't like this one too, so according to this, you have with the daughters, daughters-in-law of Noah, one in particular, Ham's wife, that she has fallen angel blood, Nephilim blood, a descendant of them. 0.56
