The Saad Truth with Dr. Saad - The Rubin Report - Suicidal Empathy and Ostrich Parasitic Syndrome (The Saad Truth with Dr. Saad_742)

00:00:00.000 match of different political opinions, never found a home in either party that they are now

00:00:04.680 breaking in massive ways. I mean, that sounded like almost a 20 point swing from what happened

00:00:09.260 with Biden in Georgia last time. That is absolutely huge. That's actually indicative of hopefully what

00:00:15.860 we will see more largely throughout the evening. But I just mentioned my friend Gad Saad, the

00:00:21.360 sexiest man on the internet. And I believe he is joining us live from Canada. Gad, they haven't

00:00:27.880 put you in the gulags in Canada yet, you sexy beast. They're coming for me. This is my last 0.99

00:00:32.860 communique before I go to Gulag 13. And I also note that you're not hiding under the desk. You're

00:00:39.140 usually hiding under the desk because somebody, Donald Trump is coming for you or some other

00:00:44.180 horrific figure is coming and you're hiding in the desk and your wife is often in the distance

00:00:49.440 making sure that you're being fed well and that you're okay. Yes. As you know, I had a huge stock

00:00:55.820 of cod, of tuna and nuts, but they ran out. So I have to come out from under the desk.

00:01:04.160 Dad, I mentioned, I don't know if you heard my previous interview or what I was talking

00:01:08.160 about, but I mentioned a phrase that you have been bringing up quite extensively lately.

00:01:12.800 I think you are, if I'm not mistaken, your next book is going to be about it, but you've

00:01:15.880 written about it and we've talked about it before. Suicidal empathy. And that really seems

00:01:20.920 to be the affliction across the West that is driving the liberals, unfortunately, to kill 0.99

00:01:27.660 us all. That empathy has become the most important piece of the hierarchy. Can you explain maybe

00:01:34.220 when you first saw this and why you think it's so dangerous? Because I think it's perfectly

00:01:38.520 indicative of what is happening with this election right now as it comes to the intersectional

00:01:44.160 alliance that the left is trying to put together.

00:01:46.000 Yeah, thanks for the question. That's exactly the topic of my next book, Exactly Suicidal

00:01:50.800 Empathy. So look, many emotions make sense when they are triggered within certain ranges,

00:01:57.860 right? So take, for example, OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder. It is a maladaptive firing

00:02:03.960 of an otherwise adaptive process. Now that sounds like a mouthful, so let me explain it. It makes

00:02:08.580 perfect evolutionary sense for us to check that the back door is locked before we go to sleep.

00:02:13.840 But we check it once, we make sure it's closed, and then we move on. OCD is the hyperactivation

00:02:20.440 of that mechanism. I'm stuck by the door rechecking and rechecking for the next eight hours. So there

00:02:26.380 is nothing wrong with empathy. It's a laudable, virtuous emotion to have. The problem arises when

00:02:34.080 it hyperactivates, when it hyperactivates, and it targets the wrong people. So for example, when it

00:02:40.560 comes to immigration, to spend all of our capital of empathy on illegal immigrants over American vets 0.91

00:02:50.480 would be a manifestation of suicidal empathy. To argue that all immigrants are alike, because people

00:02:57.640 will, for example, write to me, well, why are you against immigration? You're an immigrant, your buddy

00:03:02.680 Elon Musk is an immigrant. Well, that presumes that all immigrants are equal, just like George Orwell 1.00

00:03:07.680 said, all animals are equal, except some are more equal than others. So suicidal empathy is simply

00:03:13.180 the maladaptive application of an otherwise adaptive emotion.

00:03:17.560 So how do you think it got weaponized? Because it seems to me that if we just had a certain set

00:03:22.600 of people that maybe were a little too empathetic or a little too emotional or whatever, that that

00:03:27.620 could operate functionally in a society. But it seems to me that it has been weaponized to the point

00:03:33.820 that everyone else now is Hitler, everyone is a racist, Donald Trump showing up at MSG is like Hitler

00:03:39.600 in 1930, whatever, all of the stuff. And it seemingly has taken over an entire, it's not even

00:03:47.200 electorate. It has taken over an entire segment of the population that will gladly import people 1.00

00:03:52.640 who will behead them. Yeah, exactly. In Quebec, by the way, the Quebec government is perfectly happy 0.98

00:03:59.480 to let in hundreds of thousands of Muslim immigrants, as long as before they behead you, 1.00

00:04:06.160 they say bonjour. So as long as the beheadings happen in French, then it's all good, because at 1.00

00:04:11.540 least we've protected our linguistic heritage. But to come back to your point of how that happened,

00:04:16.340 think, let's draw an analogy with football, right? What you're trying to maximize to win a game is

00:04:21.620 to score more points than the other team, right? Everybody agrees that that's the rules by which

00:04:26.320 you win. Imagine if somebody came along and said, no, no, no, what I have to simply hold on to the

00:04:32.720 ball more than the other team. That's what I use for me to win the game, right? And so this is what's

00:04:39.100 happening in the West. It's no longer about protecting our foundational values. The highest

00:04:44.380 goal, the most virtuous objective that you can achieve is to be orgiastically empathetic.

00:04:51.560 And of course, that results in suicidal empathy.

00:04:54.380 I'd like to go on to another phrase that you mention all the time. By the way, did you see

00:04:57.780 the chyron that we put under you? You're going to love it. Can we put that back under him? I don't

00:05:00.980 know if he'll be able to see it, but this is very important stuff we're doing over here. You know,

00:05:04.280 people have long, you have a very intense history academically. You've worked at many

00:05:09.180 universities, all sorts of great things. But we thought that putting this under you would be

00:05:14.440 most... I love it. By the way, I was a bit offended that earlier you said the sexiest man on the

00:05:21.820 internet. I'm the sexiest man on earth. My sexiness is not restricted to the internet, buddy.

00:05:27.420 In case there's someone that's super sexy who just doesn't have a phone. All right, fair enough.

00:05:31.340 Well, we'll have the team look into that. You know, it's okay. As I said, it's a very different

00:05:34.560 show than you're seeing on CNN. But I do want to ask you about another phrase that you talk about

00:05:39.200 all the time. So we've got suicidal empathy. And then, oh my God, I lost it just as I'm saying

00:05:44.100 it right now. Oh, give me one of your other good ones. Ostrich parasitic syndrome.

00:05:50.680 Ostrich parasitic. Yes, that is it. The set of people that know something is wrong. So let's say

00:05:57.220 they acknowledge, boy, these empathetic people, they're getting a whole bunch of us killed and they're

00:06:00.560 importing all these people and something's not good here. But they instead choose to bury their

00:06:04.200 head in the ground. Thank you for catching me up on the question. Exactly. So take, for example,

00:06:08.800 Islam, right? If you presume that it is completely gauche and inappropriate for you to ever criticize

00:06:17.240 someone's religion, then you become bound to that rule of conduct, right? So it doesn't matter 0.90

00:06:23.420 how much evidence slaps you in the face to argue that maybe Islam might be more inherently violent

00:06:30.840 than, say, Jainism. I'm unwilling to admit to that. And therefore, metaphorically, I bury my head in the

00:06:37.660 sand and presume that it hasn't happened. Or I look for alternative causal explanations. So I can show you

00:06:44.660 a list of 40,000 terrorist acts that have been committed since 9-11 alone in nearly 70 countries.

00:06:52.180 And then Bill Nye, the science guy, will say that it is climate change that's causing this, or it's

00:06:59.000 lack of art exposure that's causing this, or it's the Zionist occupation. So all causal explanations are

00:07:06.160 okay as long as you don't blame the noble faith. That's ostrich parasitic syndrome mixed up with

00:07:12.620 suicidal empathy, because I want to be empathetic to that religion of the noble brown people. 0.91

00:07:18.720 We're doing a bit of the Gadsad Greatest Hits here, but I do want to do one other,

00:07:22.280 because this is election night. And because I have seen something really extraordinary,

00:07:26.260 I was just talking about it with Carol, so many liberals, former, let's say, New York Cali liberals,

00:07:32.280 whatever that meant, moderate Dems, who for the first time are breaking towards Trump right now.

00:07:37.580 One of the phrases that you've talked about that has stopped so many people from doing that over the

00:07:41.500 years is that they consider Trump an aesthetic injury. And I really like this. And I think it's

00:07:46.700 something that finally a certain set of people are getting over this idea that, oh my God,

00:07:52.120 he eats ketchup with his steak that's well done. But that's not the only part of the aesthetic injury.

00:07:58.040 Exactly. And here I'm going, imagine that this were the cork of a wine bottle. So there's an expression

00:08:03.200 in Arabic that says, getting drunk simply by smelling the cork of the wine bottle. That's exactly what an

00:08:09.380 aesthetic injury is, right? So look, I'm going to smell now the cork of the Barack Obama

00:08:14.040 bottle, right? He's got a mellifluous voice. He's got a radiant smile. He's tall and lanky.

00:08:20.560 It might be the case that every single syllable that he's ever uttered is a platitudinal sack of 1.00

00:08:27.960 bullshit. But it doesn't matter because I'm drunk smelling his cork. On the other hand, when I smell the 1.00

00:08:34.000 Trump cork, look, he's cantankerous. He's gross. He's overweight. So at no point did I mention a 1.00

00:08:41.780 policy decision that either makes me like him or dislike him. I just have to smell the cork.

00:08:47.180 And here comes the aesthetic injury.

00:08:49.340 Yeah. And unfortunately, too many people just operate on that. I think you came up with another

00:08:52.520 phrase right there, the platitudinal sack of bullshit. That seems like it should definitely... 0.99

00:08:57.080 That's why I am the poet and professor of the people.

00:09:00.260 Before I let you go, in that you are up in Canada, and it seems to me that Canada actually,

00:09:06.480 joking aside for a moment, Canada actually is in far worse shape than America is. Would you like

00:09:12.600 to give a warning to some of our American friends who, I don't know if anyone... Well, everyone's

00:09:17.700 basically voted if they're going to vote at this point, but just to the American that is kind of

00:09:21.800 unsure, or doesn't quite see what I think you and I see the dangers to be in the world at the moment.

00:09:28.060 So Canada has been under dear leader Justin Trudeau for now nine years, since 2015. He's been

00:09:34.420 elected three times. On every conceivable metric that you could think of in measuring the quality

00:09:40.780 of a society, we've gone precipitously downhill. And that's because Justin Trudeau and Kamala Harris

00:09:48.340 exactly share the same ideological rapture. By the way, they're both from Montreal,

00:09:54.520 both Kamala Harris, and as a matter of fact, they both grew up about 15 minutes from where I am

00:10:01.180 doing this show with you.

00:10:02.780 Middle-class family? Middle-class family? 0.83

00:10:05.020 A middle-class family in arguably the highest income neighborhood in Canada. By the way,

00:10:11.100 my sister lives in that neighborhood, so I know it very well. This is not a humble brag.

00:10:15.140 It literally is the case that every home is a castle. So it's such nonsense that she says,

00:10:21.320 so the warning to the United States, unless you wish to emulate the trajectory that Canada has

00:10:26.740 taken, I hope that you've made the right choice tonight.

00:10:29.780 Connor, can you put the car on under him one more time so he can give a nice smile and give

00:10:33.500 the people what they want as I say goodbye to him? We're going to throw to it one more time.

00:10:36.980 We're just going to give... It's really giving Gad what he wants more than giving the people what

00:10:41.040 he wants. I think we've got it. There you go. It is worldwide sex symbol. Gad said,

00:10:47.740 Gad, I love you. I can't wait to see you again. I keep trying to get you to move to Florida,

00:10:51.180 but you're at your work. Well, we're working on it. Let's put it that way.

00:10:55.000 Thank you, buddy. Take care. Cheers.

00:10:56.380 Good to see you.

00:10:57.340 All right, guys.
