In this episode, Dr. Gajad Saad joins me to discuss the left's attempt to create an all-new motivation, manufactured out of thin air by some in the media, and at other times, complete denial of what is obviously staring us in our face, that this was political assassination from the left.

00:00:00.000 Joining me now, visiting scholar at the Declaration of Independence Center for the Study of American
00:00:04.160 Freedom, it's Dr. Gad Saad. Dr. Saad, great to see you here today. Thank you for being with us.
00:00:09.600 How do we explain, first, the attempt to create an all-new motivation manufactured out of thin
00:00:14.940 air by some in the media, and at other times, complete denial of what is obviously staring
00:00:20.520 us in our face, that this was political assassination from the left? So two mechanisms.
00:00:28.480 Number one, unfortunately, our capacity to reason did not evolve, evolutionarily speaking,
00:00:34.960 to arrive at some objective truth, but rather to win arguments. So you'd like to think that we are
00:00:41.960 all purveyors and processors of information in an objective manner. No, people simply want to be
00:00:48.700 proven right. So the more information I give you that shows that your anchored position is incorrect,
00:00:54.780 the more you become strengthened in the veracity of your position, which is a terrible thing for
00:01:01.020 someone like me, because I'm in the business of trying to change people's minds when most people
00:01:05.400 don't want to change their minds. The second thing I would say is something that I talk about in Chapter
00:01:09.560 Six of The Parasitic Mind. I call it ostrich parasitic syndrome. We know that the metaphor of
00:01:14.640 the ostrich burying its head is an apt metaphor for someone who wants to deny reality. 0.94
00:01:19.940 So if Islamic terrorists go in Paris and blow up 200 people while screaming Quranic verses and saying 0.95
00:01:28.420 Allahu Akbar, Bill Nye, the science guy, will come out and say, this proves to you that it's due 0.72
00:01:34.320 to climate change. So that's why it's ostrich parasitic syndrome, because their brains are 0.96
00:01:39.920 parasitized. No amount of evidence can shift them from their tribal thinking.
00:01:44.360 Seems to me there might be a third element as well, and that is anything to achieve or force
00:01:51.440 self-reflection, anything to avoid a long look in the mirror. And right now, all the evidence is
00:01:57.900 pointing to the necessity of a long look in the mirror for the left over not just their policies,
00:02:04.160 but their rhetoric, their tone, the temperature and the way they treat disagreement in the United
00:02:09.440 States. Because if you take that long look in the mirror, it's very hard not to come away with
00:02:14.160 some culpability. You have created a climate that gives birth to Tyler Robinson, and there is a
00:02:20.880 complete unwillingness to accept that potentiality, for example, on CNN.
00:02:28.280 Indeed. People are not very good in terms of being introspective. There is something in psychology
00:02:33.780 called the self-serving bias, whereby you attribute successes internally. I did well on the exam because
00:02:39.600 I'm smart. And you attribute failures externally. I did poorly on the exam because my professor is a
00:02:44.920 jerk. Well, that's what the left is doing, right? It's hard to admit that maybe some of the tenets of 1.00
00:02:50.540 your ideology are at play here. And so you look for external causes outside of yourself, outside of
00:02:56.980 your ideology. These are all parts of the regrettable features of the architecture of the human mind.
00:03:01.920 It's tragic and especially tragic when such a gorgeous, beautiful gem of a person was erased from
00:03:08.160 the earth simply because he had a position that someone disagreed with. It's grotesque.
00:03:13.380 All right. Appreciate you being with us here today, Dr. Saad.
00:03:16.800 Thank you.
