01:01:43.600 materials for students. And although a glut of special interest groups has devoted themselves
01:01:48.640 to the promotion of such materials for children, they do so based on biased surveys, storytelling,
01:01:54.480 and feelings. These organizations lack the backing of evidence-based education practice to
01:02:00.080 legitimize policies that defend children's access to sexually explicit materials. The lack of high
01:02:05.920 quality research to support the claim that sexually explicit materials are educational
01:02:10.480 may be due to the difficulty in obtaining research ethics clearance to perform experimental studies
01:02:15.280 on minors, experimental studies being the gold standard of quality research. It is more likely
01:02:21.200 however that ideological beliefs and political pressure are leading to this paradigm shift
01:02:26.320 and not new academic knowledge. At any rate, children and their communities have been enrolled
01:02:31.200 unwittingly in a natural experiment that goes against our best instincts and our current laws
