00:04:34.720 it because you're such a humble in your own head dude i know that is you as your friend but you are 0.98

00:04:39.440 fucking scorching it has been so fun to watch dude i mean it is look at him blushing it was 0.97

00:04:44.880 fucking beautiful dog thanks so happy for you man it was i was so glad to get the call one just to get 0.98

00:04:49.840 to hang out but two to tell you in front of you and your audience that man i have never laughed as 0.99

00:04:55.760 hard i've never i mean i could just bore you with how happy i am in every podcast i've watched and

00:05:00.160 just fucking how genius and brilliant you are but the dana white one most recently dude i've watched 0.90

00:05:06.480 every dana white scrum my whole career right i got to where i don't even watch the fight sometimes i 0.98

00:05:11.200 just go google dana white and see what the postcard what did he say about the fights are they

00:05:15.600 fucking worth watching he'll tell you the truth there's a chinese live feed you can get of just him 0.85

00:05:19.040 watching the fights too really yeah yeah but i uh dude i'd never heard him like that it was really 0.95

00:05:25.440 cool but i'm sorry i just i wanted to start this man it's nice you do well we're here with the

00:05:30.320 writer of flower shops anyway so i think it's the guy to do it around dude what if you did you did a

00:05:35.440 show where people got their flowers from somebody like as a get like as a you know thank you bro

00:05:40.080 that's really sweet and retweet everything he just said yeah thank you well thank you guys for

00:05:44.800 making me laugh dude for making me feel welcome in a new city you know i will say that um you guys

00:05:50.800 have been very uh you showed up for like the first time that we had a show in um in nashville at zany's

00:05:59.440 man you came out and um and ernest you've been somebody that just you know always you know checks

00:06:05.680 in or cheers me up or keeps you in the know what's going on with a lot of these guys because so many

00:06:10.160 artists are on the road now and stuff out of here you know yeah um but thank you bro a very

00:06:16.080 sweet of you man and happy uh happy holidays boys praise god i was throwing nuts your way for a

00:06:21.680 second there you got me high man and you and you guys wrote tell me this because i didn't know this

00:06:27.040 i was at a writer's round i think you were performing that yeah and you wrote son of a

00:06:33.920 sinner together yes sir wow yeah that's crazy bro it is it's really crazy because him i believe

00:06:41.200 son of a sinner but then i get over here yeah well my my birth father was definitely a sinner i was 0.99

00:06:47.440 adopted into a less of a city oh yeah then you're dead yeah that's second you're like an aftermarket

00:06:52.640 center right yeah i was i was actually son of a deacon yeah son of a deacon in the church of christ so

00:06:59.760 we actually have a song on his new album that talks all about that actually oh my goodness

00:07:03.600 dude yeah so can i tell the story yeah please dude so me and luke bryan were playing golf out at

00:07:09.920 troubadour and we're listening to some rap and we started talking about jelly roll he was like

00:07:15.280 y'all known each other for a while and yeah i was like yeah we go back don't act like you're not

00:07:19.280 fighting your best not to do your luke bryan impression right now that's the one we gotta hear it

00:07:23.680 man i was like uh you've been known jelly roll ain't you that's kind of bad that's kind of bad but but

00:07:30.160 i got a good one coming up here because i was like yeah i i was like i used to uh i used to go

00:07:36.640 by his house and acquire some things and we'd uh freestyle rap and this is like back in 2010 i was

00:07:41.360 like then i went to college and he went to jail and then we came back around all these years later and 0.99

00:07:45.920 luke was like hold up motherfucker you better write that fucking song right now and so we start i start 0.99

00:07:51.360 kind of freestyling uh in the golf cart it's like i went to college he went to jail one was a dorm room 1.00

00:07:58.240 one was a cell who came out on top hell it's hard to tell i went to college he went to jail

00:08:05.680 so we're gonna better chicks in college that's the only thing i'll say so imagine this i'm getting

00:08:11.040 a facetime or a phone call like every 16 minutes from a drunk earnest and a drunk luke bryan day drunk

00:08:17.600 too sun beating all them they're sweating and they're just like check this one out and i'm like 0.98

00:08:22.640 giving a little input here and there and by about the fourth facetime i was like these cocksuckers are 0.95

00:08:27.200 writing a song on the golf course right now for sure over facetime with no guitars wow yeah yeah that's

00:08:34.000 crazy man i just have yeah i guess inspiration can just kind of roll up whenever huh is is it as easy to

00:08:39.040 just go in a place and do inspiration like that and get inspiration like if you're sitting in a room with

00:08:42.720 people or is it is that a lot easier to find a way to write a song or is it easier just if you're

00:08:47.920 milling around with your boys it can come both ways for sure i mean uh in the right room inspiration is

00:08:53.920 going to be there um and just because you're out you know having fun and living doesn't mean that the

00:08:58.800 inspiration is going to hit you in that moment but i think i think living breeds inspiration no

00:09:04.400 matter where you're at i'd like your perspective from a comedian because as a songwriter we're always

00:09:09.920 writing songs yeah right like brother we know it or not subconsciously you might say something here

00:09:15.520 today that one of us will grab and hit the other one within a text later like yo when bubba said

00:09:19.920 da da da yeah but there's a song there throw that in the notes you know what i mean it's like is it

00:09:23.600 like that for y'all as well like just in day-to-day life you're just there's always there's there's

00:09:28.560 always you're always kind of writing a joke whether you know it or not yeah i think like if you're around

00:09:33.680 your buddy sometimes you get them to laugh you'll write that down you know rodney dangerfield was uh

00:09:38.960 pretty famous he would like um if he was on a shoot or something he would in his off moments he

00:09:44.800 would get a uh get in a robe and and and just hang out like when he wasn't shooting like literally in

00:09:49.920 a robe and slippers i think because he felt real free in it like his body felt free and he would uh

00:09:55.360 he would just write down he would hang out by people and if something was funny he would write

00:09:59.040 it down on a notepad and just keep it in his pocket that's kind of like a famous story that i heard

00:10:02.960 i find if i'm like about say like the funniest times i ever am is if like say if i if i was like

00:10:09.360 hanging out with a girl right and she stayed over in the morning and i think it's kind of the same

00:10:14.880 thing if you drank all night and you wake up in the morning you're laughing like with your spouse or

00:10:18.640 something or with your spouse yeah and you're kind of like having just that that funny time right there

00:10:23.600 that's my fun i think that's when i feel like that's your golden hour of comedy it really is yeah

00:10:28.160 because if there's a if it's a lady you're trying to impress this part of you that's always like

00:10:32.320 limbically trying to impress a lady yeah i don't know if it's limbic or whatever but just damn like 0.79

00:10:35.920 mediterranean or whatever that mediterranean part of your head is and uh you're always just trying 0.93

00:10:40.720 to impress a lady so mediterranean part of your head whatever it is it's only six extra seconds for 0.99

00:10:45.920 that to hit me but hey it landed it landed just moving but yeah i think that's when i feel like i'm

00:10:52.160 maybe my most engaging or whatever it is with because i think i'll as a as a a lot of comedians

00:10:58.320 they're just trying to get a girl to laugh really you don't have any way to impress a woman that's

00:11:01.520 when you realize when you're young so you're like i gotta make somebody laugh or one of these dudes 0.98

00:11:06.640 is probably gonna fuck me you know yeah so it uh i gotta get funny quick i relate as a fat person i 0.99

00:11:15.120 always said that uh you gotta be a little humorous and smell good you can't be fat stinky and an 1.00

00:11:20.080 asshole yeah yeah you can't be fat and asshole and two yeah you know what i'm saying i just gotta 1.00

00:11:24.400 be fat you know what i'm saying like that's it i gotta at least smell decent when i can and i 1.00

00:11:28.880 better at least make somebody chuckle every now and then yes yeah so good dude and i'll say to that

00:11:34.080 too um not even just girl but like an audience like freestyling when we're freestyling bro like

00:11:40.320 if it's a car full of people or a studio full of people and the energy is room like that's that's

00:11:45.920 when i'm gonna black out and be able to freestyle you know think and just basically be channeling

00:11:52.160 something because i know that i can see in real time like what it's pulling out of people like

00:11:57.040 what do you mean oh so like if you're doing like you're just in front of like a group or something

00:11:59.840 yeah like you can you can get a real real read on site about whether this is cool or not whereas

00:12:06.560 like if it's just me by myself with music or me and one other guy who's you know so locked into

00:12:12.640 his thing at the time yeah then you can get in you can get in your head and get in your own way

00:12:17.200 i feel like so i know it sounds weird but if i had a choice to do it every time i'd like treat it like

00:12:22.240 a party and us three would be writing a song but we'd have the homies over there chilling yeah you 0.59

00:12:26.320 know what i'm saying like some of our buddies because you can feel from that like you just the

00:12:29.920 energy of a room but yeah it's always like it's also what you're getting into a room writing so fun

00:12:34.800 because there's i'm sure it's like this for y'all but there's so many ways to do it i've done it so

00:12:39.840 many different ways though now the most crazy way i've ever seen it done i'm sure you don't mind

00:12:44.720 me saying this is i had a session with wiz khalifa the other night did you really listen man

00:12:51.920 wiz i don't get mad at me i don't know what i'm supposed to tell this but you 0.63

00:12:54.480 fucking did it in front of me so it's a fair game i think yeah he recorded his verse in reverse 0.90

00:13:02.240 so i'm trying to figure out what's happening because like i know it's gonna be hard to even 0.99

00:13:05.360 explain to keep in mind i've been smoking wiz for like four hours at this point i'm cooked yeah i'm like

00:13:09.680 what the fuck am i even doing i feel like i'm taking shrooms or something my skin's crawling 0.97

00:13:13.920 the room you can't see through it i'm like yeah i'm fucking like yo oh yeah when your own skin turns 1.00

00:13:20.240 into a maze yeah yeah i'm like the fuck is happening yeah you guys you can't even call the cops you 0.99

00:13:26.400 literally need to call like the uh like whoever poison control 0.99

00:13:31.440 calling poison control for sure i'll let you finish and i have a poison control story

00:13:35.440 but he would take the last bar and go backwards so like he would be like and i'm already gone and

00:13:43.440 then he would go the line before a measure and loop the beat of measure into that and then figure out 0.99

00:13:48.320 what the line going into that was it was the wildest shit i've ever seen wow i'm not bullshitting 0.98

00:13:53.520 earnest he did four bars before i looked up and publicly said loud is he recording this backwards like 0.98

00:13:59.360 i had missed a whole he'd done it for 15 minutes today he might be dyslexic there's not a

00:14:06.240 he's verse lexic i mean you just described dyslexia and we're all like i wonder what he's doing

00:14:16.160 hey that's funny bro you don't see a lot of black dyslexia either

00:14:19.760 black dyslexia yeah yeah you don't see it every day that's for sure hey that's funny 1.00

00:14:27.120 that's great tell us about your poison control let's go take a ride and get some qb bar you know

00:14:32.480 what i'm saying you don't you don't see a lot of black dyslexia i'm down there at the way sub

00:14:37.600 right now baby i'll be home in a minute that's hilarious we need more black dyslexia out there 0.99

00:14:42.640 huh no dude's rapping like yoda it's insane dude i've never seen nothing like that i was like

00:14:48.480 and it was sick yeah that's awesome dude if aliens show up they better show up with some 1.00

00:14:52.400 fucking bars or the hood's gonna be like fuck these 1.00

00:14:57.200 yes yeah tough day to be a square alien yeah yeah yeah because a lot of black people have 1.00

00:15:03.200 issues with aliens anyway bro a lot of my dudes have told me that have you been hearing that a

00:15:08.720 lot oh i've heard it on the street not recently but i heard i you know i'm sure it hasn't

00:15:12.480 changed from since when i heard it yeah yeah probably not if anything's probably gotten worse

00:15:16.640 yeah i don't think it was a me you know i don't think it was a meeting oh my god but uh what was

00:15:21.280 your story poison control okay poison control this is drugs involved in this not bad ones okay

00:15:27.520 honestly just caffeine it's kind of insane um so before one of these shows i think we were at marathon

00:15:33.440 like two years ago and marathon is a music music venue okay i've probably weighed 50 pounds more

00:15:40.000 than i do right now just keep that in mind for context i um was tired as hell i wasn't drinking

00:15:46.400 at the time so i went to the gas station and got some caffeine pills and it's like four pills and a

00:15:51.760 thing and i get back to the green room i take the four pills and then and then read the package

00:15:59.680 it was like it was like you're supposed to just take one of these awesome you know you got four deals

00:16:05.760 that's a recommendation yeah well so i i mean this is like 10 minutes later i finally read the

00:16:11.440 package i go back into the bathroom make myself throw up and like one empty capsule came out in

00:16:16.640 my puke and i was like oh boy and i'm starting to get antsy and obviously anxious about the whole

00:16:20.880 scenario i don't have the coolest heart on earth and then um i called poison control i was like no

00:16:27.680 brainer i'm gonna see what they got to say the guy was like i was like hey man i took four of these

00:16:32.800 these caffeine pills i feel pretty uncomfortable right now i'm sweating um it kind of hurts and

00:16:39.520 he's like oh man he's like yeah that's a lot of caffeine he goes um but he was like if you're in

00:16:44.560 pretty good shape you should be all right and i was like oh all right thank you i hung up and i was 0.99

00:16:50.480 like fuck i'm not in that good of shape now he's just he's fucking passive aggressively you're in 0.98

00:16:56.000 pretty good shape i think you should be all right and i'm like what is pretty good shape 0.99

00:16:59.520 i'm definitely obese to an extent let me draw a picture of myself i'll text it over to you

00:17:06.240 yeah so uh ended up being totally uncomfortable and stayed up all night and sweat but i survived

00:17:11.920 poison control dude yeah any and anytime you're just casually calling poison control dude that's

00:17:16.480 so fucking weird yeah i'm standing outside the venue kicking it somebody probably just assumes i'm 0.91

00:17:20.080 talking to my mom or something i'm over there am i gonna die here in a minute your pc was good 0.98

00:17:25.200 on me you know and that's how i know you went to college because i'd have never even thought to

00:17:28.960 call poison control in that moment i didn't realize i thought that's something you called when like you

00:17:33.600 had rats at the house yeah that's you would just take two volumes and be like yeah exactly i just feel

00:17:38.240 like this is it we'll take a xanax yeah we'll fight fire with fire yeah dude me and my buddy went on

00:17:46.320 a date we were going to pick some girls up for a date one time and we had just taken these like no

00:17:51.200 dose pills remember those those are the first like drugs for kids that came out like at a gas

00:17:56.160 was that like an over-the-counter amphetamine basically yeah it was like no dose it said you

00:18:00.080 could be a trucker you know that's what it said on it right i took a five-hour energy drink one time

00:18:08.560 in my life and you've still been up and i took it i got off a plane this was 10 years ago in vegas

00:18:16.160 and i rented a car in vegas to drive to la because i was so broke it was cheaper to fly into vegas and

00:18:21.920 rent a car from there than to fly in la so i took and like i stopped at one of them truck stops in

00:18:26.960 the desert yeah for sure one of them figure it out yeah that's a big thing one of them y'all we've all

00:18:31.120 done those in our career i'm gonna save 70 bucks dude i'll get there 11 hours later yeah and i'll be on

00:18:36.880 somebody's shoulders yeah and i took it dude and i'm driving down the side of that you know that old

00:18:43.200 desert it's all desert from vegas to la and man it hit me dude and i took the most squalling 0.91

00:18:49.920 shit on the side of the road it was the most brutal painful thing i've ever dealt with i didn't sleep 0.98

00:18:56.160 for a day yeah i'll never take one again those things are poor i should have called poison control 1.00

00:19:00.080 those things are fucking evil we can't help you right now like what's up poison control we just 0.97

00:19:05.600 want to check in with you guys let you know we're doing good yeah hey how are y'all how are you doing 0.99

00:19:10.080 nobody's ever called to check on y'all are y'all good over there you know they have overdoses

00:19:51.680 being around an alcoholic but yes it's like yeah a lot of indian dudes their their arteries are 1.00

00:19:56.800 just like a halfway house for like a spice rack a lot of motherfuckers got that coriander in them 1.00

00:20:03.280 yes yeah dude um steph curry oh dude steph curry what if he made a restaurant called steph curry 0.97

00:20:13.760 it would do well i'm sure it would do well they had 30 different things on the menu yeah

00:20:18.960 i don't know great idea you don't want to open it though san francisco

00:20:24.160 steph's curry steph's curry i don't know that sounds like a uh

00:20:29.280 steph curry's steph curry's steph curry sounds like a steakhouse a little bit steph's curry sounds

00:20:35.040 like a kind of a like a girl's uh yeah std yeah you know what i'm saying yeah it sounds like some

00:20:42.640 it sounds like some like like almost like vaginal witchcraft you know vaginal witchcraft yes you 0.60

00:20:48.000 got to get a hit of steph curry you're like i'm good 0.99

00:20:50.720 it sounds like a dude in prison that tries to pretend like his butt is a vagina you know like 1.00

00:20:57.680 oh come get some of this steph's curry you know so about we so about be throwing out that 1.00

00:21:52.400 guys got to go dude congratulations too man and did you yeah congratulations best new artist was it

00:21:59.040 huh yes sir it was crazy man it was it was really interesting because i didn't think i had a chance

00:22:02.960 to win it really yeah man i mean is that true you didn't think at all i did not at all you up against

00:22:07.600 i was up against zach bryan and parker mccullum right and i felt like no all pun intended to my boy

00:22:12.400 i felt like parker had a hell of a year and i feel like zach bryan is the second most streamed

00:22:17.120 artist in country music right now behind morgan so it's like it to me it was a no-brainer and i'm

00:22:21.680 such a zach bryan fan like so the fact that i got to sit next to him the whole night like

00:22:26.640 it's so funny i'm glad you were able to too yeah that was cool for me and him to get that moment

00:22:30.960 because he was awesome dude i mean there was a moment where i literally felt like me and him were

00:22:35.840 like tailgating and watching a concert outside of an arena yeah you know like he's over there drinking

00:22:41.040 i'm ripping a weed pen you know what i'm saying he's cracking beers there's empty shot glasses

00:22:48.560 there's empty shot glasses under my seat he's got four or five half drinking drinks under his

00:22:53.200 like he's bringing him drinks yeah and we're just there talking about the music all night and i just

00:22:57.440 thought for sure he would win you know the last thing right before they announced the name was i

00:23:01.600 think i tapped him on the shoulder and said say something nice about me or something funny you know

00:23:05.120 that's cool and then whenever i uh uh i hugged him going up there i was like man you you deserve this

00:23:10.240 you know what i mean and then you looked at him like don't worry i'll say something

00:23:14.480 i can do it now don't worry but it was so it was really cool yeah and i had you've had this a lot

00:23:19.760 in your career but i was blessed for the first time in my career to have a real viral moment like i

00:23:25.920 thought i'd went viral before but it was like just building to a real viral moment like for whatever

00:23:31.440 reason and i didn't touch my phone for like 36 hours after the awards show because it was just such

00:23:37.600 a big moment i was just letting it sit you know and i didn't want to have my phone on me that night

00:23:41.680 and everybody kept telling me man you're going viral and i was like i'm you know i'm like oh

00:23:44.960 cool i'm thinking like you're checking your whoop bracelet to see if your doctor's letting you know

00:23:48.000 yeah yeah i'm more concerned like yeah yeah that ain't a whoop yeah

00:23:59.280 i wore a whoop this whole tour believe it or not did you really 50 pounds on tour yeah incredible

00:24:03.760 i parked my sleep every night i checked my show my show was like a workout you have been living

00:24:07.520 well dude i'm telling hell i've never lived i've dude it was awesome but i i did i wore my whoop

00:24:11.840 forever you got to be careful yeah you don't want to have to get yeah because i guess also if you're

00:24:14.960 a bigger guy you just have to be careful yeah for sure yeah like uh stavros uh halkius um was just

00:24:21.520 in here i love stavi oh yep he's so fucking funny he is so funny dude and he uh but he was talking 0.90

00:24:28.640 about what it's like being bigger he's like it's fun to be big you just have to also manage it you can't

00:24:32.880 get over big yeah so you just got to make you you just have to enjoy your big but you can't 0.94

00:24:37.120 fucking you know you can't be like i'm gonna you know get just extra big because i can yeah yeah 0.98

00:24:42.320 for sure no what there's a point where it starts fucking yeah yeah yeah let me do it i had that 0.99

00:24:47.440 recently i was like let me pull the reins back dial this back get a surgery best new artery 0.91

00:24:51.440 uh but so that was so wild and then they was it really like you were just shocked i was really

00:25:03.200 shocked i really didn't have a uh i didn't have a plan walking up there i was just walking up there

00:25:07.520 like man i didn't you know i was getting more excited as i was getting up there yeah adrenaline's 0.98

00:25:12.560 pumping i'm in the fucking bridgestone arena i'm on national television dude i'm still a white trash 1.00

00:25:16.720 kid from antioch all this is like what the fuck is going on yeah you know what i'm saying like it 0.99

00:25:20.720 i'm not i'm not jaded to this there's i'm not used to this at this point in my career i'm still like 0.97

00:25:26.560 this is wild you know and i'm standing up there and how many steps is it up there like how high is that

00:25:31.440 how how is this like a dude i didn't walk it but i bet it's like 10 steps i tell you i didn't feel

00:25:36.160 them wow i was on the cloud bubble you know at that moment you're just like man this is you know

00:25:41.600 that would be the scariest steps because then you know once you get there you have to turn around

00:25:44.720 and say something that would be what was so scary no no i was just more like you murdered that speech

00:25:49.360 yeah i was just walking up there like thinking of my i was i don't know what i was thinking i was

00:25:54.400 thinking like i tell you when i started thinking was when i looked up and this is inside baseball i

00:25:59.840 like i have the award i raise it up and i look straight up and there's a teleprompter that's going

00:26:05.040 i'm not shitting you theo 59 58 57 and i think to myself i got a lot to say and a little time to do 0.66

00:26:12.640 it i didn't realize until i watched the speech afterwards that i actually said that out loud

00:26:16.480 in that moment i was like i got a lot of things to say and i'm gonna say it really quick huh but

00:26:20.160 that was me thinking out loud because i remember thinking that that's the first time i remember

00:26:23.840 really thinking in that moment was like oh shit this is real yeah i've got 58 seconds where they're 0.56

00:26:28.960 gonna start playing the music on yeah and they're gonna send the sandman from apollo and pull me yeah 0.90

00:26:33.200 i was like i better make this count you know what i'm saying i knew in that moment too i was like i'm

00:26:37.200 definitely not winning another award tonight for sure i'm gonna say it all right now i definitely 0.86

00:26:43.120 didn't think i was gonna win this one yeah you know yeah i just fucking fired dude it was the 0.96

00:26:47.360 coolest thing that's so cool you're on a rocket ship bro dude it was on it's funny i wouldn't think 0.60

00:26:52.000 of any of y'all as new artists though in a weird way but that doesn't matter it's just a it's like

00:26:56.000 an accolade they do it doesn't really matter what it is it's like saying hey man uh people recognize

00:27:02.320 you and that's exactly right for sure it doesn't matter it doesn't matter how long people people

00:27:06.160 have been winning that award that have been around for a while but it is like you're on the map we

00:27:10.240 recognize you see you it's your time yeah and it is though i mean i was giving you flowers out there

00:27:15.360 but it is true i mean everybody sees it that it's just the lights are turned on for you right now

00:27:21.520 all the lights are on for you right now and i'm so stoked because you do um and i've told you this

00:27:27.120 before you do such a good job with your podium that you're on and giving back to this city and uh

00:27:35.360 and and the things that built you and it's just i love knowing you as a fellow nashvillian it's just

00:27:41.920 nashville is very well represented thank you for sure no it means a lot to me coming from y'all

00:27:46.320 especially but you guys are really the you know some of the roots i know there's a lot of guys around

00:27:49.760 this area you know yeah but you guys are uh people that if i mention like to people i'm like at the

00:27:55.840 gym with or something there's always somebody that knows one of you guys you know some of the

00:27:59.440 guys that knew you weren't usually doing too well i'll say that but uh but they're good guys you

00:28:04.400 know good guys hey that's funny truth like a methadone let's go boy if you came out with a 0.94

00:28:14.160 fucking suboxone or a methadone that would be jelly jelly donut flavored suboxone 0.98

00:28:19.360 for sure dude a fourth will get you back yeah yeah yeah subway eat suboxone 0.99

00:32:04.320 you have to be um wait did and did you get any songwriting awards this year i know you got oh did you

00:32:09.520 win any cmas or no uh no cmas no okay sorry is that weird to say i know you want to i know you

00:32:13.760 want a ton of oh hell no i went it was like a date night and i got to sit and cheer my friends on

00:32:17.840 yeah ernest got drunk let me tell you what happened every time ernest walked by me at the cmas

00:32:24.960 he was i was bringing zach a drink each time i came back to well who was the other three four

00:32:30.560 earnest me uh me and me and delaney he would he would look like a bartender he would have two

00:32:37.840 drinks in each hand well they ought to have somebody doing that for us so that parker mccullough was

00:32:41.920 like that too every time i seen him one he'd have him and his wife yeah and every time he's just

00:32:45.840 walking it's for safety measures though because you don't know how long you're gonna have to sit

00:32:49.520 like it might be the last chance you ever get to get a drink you're waiting for a commercial break

00:32:55.040 like a drug addict really i swear bro you're waiting for it like chow in prison yeah you're sitting

00:32:59.280 there and you're just waiting i don't know what that's like chow it's a new chinese inmate 0.54

00:33:05.040 who's getting this cutie

00:33:09.760 and you're just sitting there and they're like commercial break and you're just like you just

00:33:13.040 watch everybody stand up yeah and just immediately start shuffling really yeah is it like it's like

00:33:18.800 when school it's like recess it's like it's like it's like when the bell rings and you got five

00:33:22.480 minutes to get between classes yes it's funny how i went to a jail reference before i thought of

00:33:26.800 school well that's it you went to college you went to jail i went to college oh it's the song

00:33:31.360 again it's exactly the song that's so funny man i think but back to the nashville thing theo i think

00:33:36.720 that's what made it so beautiful that my first number one was written with ernest and keep in

00:33:41.920 mind that we're already like ernest is on his seventh or eighth number one at that point in his career

00:33:47.440 and i'm calling him now we're looking at decade plus of real friendship so i'm calling

00:33:52.160 ernest and i'm like saying it you know how i talk i'm people y'all know how y'all see me on

00:33:56.960 here is how i am my friends attest i'm a very straightforward like hey i need help can you

00:34:01.840 i call ernest like uh the first time i got on theo and brennan's podcast i hit them like yo i really

00:34:06.320 need this this is a good look for me they were like come on but the same thing with busting with

00:34:09.600 the boys but i call ernest i'm like bubba i'm treading new water here come over here and drop some of 0.99

00:34:15.680 that sauce off wow you know what i'm saying i was like fuck with your boy man yeah yeah you know 0.99

00:34:20.160 what i mean i'm like it's just me and my dude me and my dude that wrote save me we're friends of 0.99

00:34:24.080 20 something years david ray yeah he's from a trailer park in east nashville grew up piss poor never 0.81

00:34:29.120 neither one of us dreamed of being songwriters we just dreamed of not being drug dealers yeah you

00:34:32.800 know and um so we're just in there piddling around and we're like we don't really we can't even

00:34:37.440 read yeah we're sure i'm like we're not qualified to try no offense david i don't know the guy it's

00:34:43.120 like exactly i'm like i'm like we're not qualified to write a radio song by ourselves you know what

00:34:50.080 i'm saying i was like i only know one person are we gonna write this song you can't even there's

00:34:53.840 only one hit writer in town that'll take my call let me call him oh yeah yo earn do me a favor pull

00:35:00.320 up he's like i got you are you there all week i'm like i'm here all week and we've told the story

00:35:04.560 but he was going to get ribs and next door at the barbecue pit he really just came to

00:35:08.720 that's so earnest earnest is that good he's like um you know what i got to pick up some

00:35:14.640 ribs in about up an hour but i'll stop buying while they were smoking he came in he was like

00:35:18.000 i got like 30 minutes to kill or something that's exactly what happened he wrote a piece of the song

00:35:23.120 he just like poured out an idea i was like love y'all let me know how it goes i looked at our text

00:35:28.720 thread after it went number one because that night i texted ernest at like four in the morning

00:35:32.480 because i was a party you sent back a demo yeah a demo at four in the morning i was like we might

00:35:36.720 actually we might actually have something here yeah and then and then it felt so good when i left 0.99

00:35:42.000 like because we had the long head son of a sinner and like that shit was just tattooed in my brain 0.97

00:35:49.760 from the second i left until till now and then i had to double back with the favorite theo because 0.99

00:35:54.480 then when we get the song done i'm like well fuck we don't know nobody to produce a radio song 0.74

00:35:59.280 neither right so i call ernest i'm like you gotta produce hey i'm i'm one for one on producing 0.89

00:36:05.440 country songs and them going to the top baby that's your first produced one yeah it's the

00:36:09.200 only thing i produced the best part was i had to gas him up the yo he was like the rudy rudiger 0.87

00:36:17.360 one play one set that's me i had to gas him up bro i had to be like yo man you can do this he was

00:36:22.880 like i've never done it i was like i definitely can't do it if we have to pick right now who's the 0.98

00:36:27.280 most qualified to do it it's fucking you man you gotta figure it out he was like all right 0.99

00:36:31.200 man fuck i'll figure it out i was like all right cool crazy that is crazy hearing it out loud again 1.00

00:36:36.560 though because you know i had to bully him into it i was like you got this i i felt imposter syndrome 0.99

00:36:42.720 being around you know the producer all the time but uh singing that song it's in my set every night

00:36:48.560 and i i love it like one of mine like because uh and i say every night i give a brief overcap of

00:36:55.120 knowing him and then how special it is that one's that's all the time when people ask me what my

00:37:01.200 favorite number one is it's that one because of that reason because it's homegrown 100 homegrown

00:37:07.040 three nashville dudes three nashville dudes that 10 years before you could have never told us we would

00:37:11.360 be hit songwriters yeah any of us you know what i mean and we put real real real stuff in a song

00:37:18.000 vulnerable that country radio accepted yeah and like that's cool like pills and you know addiction

00:37:25.920 and just weird lingo that most country songs don't have well yeah well nowadays that's your dog in your

00:37:32.000 truck if you don't you know what i'm saying yeah if you ain't yeah if you ain't yeah the dog is the

00:37:35.360 dogs there's trucks on blocks we're moved on we're moving on to opiates

00:37:41.280 the genre has evolved no man i remember because i was at i went to the opry and i saw you

00:37:48.800 and um performing and then you played that song i was like i just didn't know i didn't know that's

00:37:54.000 where it was that was that was when it was and i was like wow because i just love listening to that

00:37:58.720 song yeah you know what you did me a solid theo the holler it's a big country themed um youtube

00:38:05.520 social media site and they did like one of them 30 second things with you and they said what's a country

00:38:10.320 song you can listen to non-stop and you said son of a sinner by jelly roll and you said no never

00:38:15.200 mind save me by jelly roll oh nice thank you i got that given the different one yeah you threw me a 0.99

00:38:20.080 big alley-oop there because that motherfucker because you did it it went viral everybody said 0.99

00:38:24.000 that to me i love see yeah where you at right now where you at with laney on that we're number two 0.99

00:38:29.360 we're number two yeah we should be pushing next week save me should be the song on country radio

00:38:34.480 whenever this comes by the time this comes out it should i should be able to say this i'm a jesse

00:38:38.240 murph i'm a jesse murph fan too i've been a jesse murph fan so god it's i feel scary even saying

00:38:43.680 it because she's like a young girl you know but it's like yeah you can be a fan i am a i know all

00:38:49.200 of her songs dude which is really alarming to say and i might even i don't want to hear this i'm glad

00:38:53.680 i'm not i can't hear that good if it makes you feel better if you were like me i heard the voice

00:38:59.600 before i seen her and nothing about her voice says she's a 19 year old girl right like her voice says

00:39:06.160 she's a 37 year old woman that's been through a lifetime of pain yeah and anger you know what 1.00

00:39:10.720 i'm saying it's like when you hear just the voice because i just heard the music like and then i

00:39:15.120 found out who it was yeah and then i was like oh this is dope but she's you'd love her man she's 1.00

00:39:18.960 like a little sister man she's like i got to meet up with her one night her and this guy shay no uh

00:39:25.280 he's like a light-skinned dude he writes music shy shy carter yeah sorry sorry yeah yeah shy carter

00:39:31.920 yeah dude it was awesome i got to meet up with them and uh in in los angeles and just i was a

00:39:36.960 huge i was a huge fan of hers and then her manager i think ben knew about it and he's like oh jesse's

00:39:44.240 in town if you want to stop by and get to say hey and so i got to stop by and meet them sick god and uh

00:39:48.800 and this and like she's played some of her new music and stuff so good yeah she don't miss baby while you're

00:39:54.160 at it yeah why don't you rap that i need to tap in i just i only know like but bro once you get on it 0.90

00:40:00.320 though dude yeah her tiktok shit is so violent like once you get on it it's like you're all it's 0.99

00:40:04.560 like you'll it'll be weird because you'll just be like at the cvs or something and you're just 0.98

00:40:09.040 standing there by yourself singing jesse murph and these kids start looking at you like this guy's a 0.91

00:40:13.520 pervert let's get this guy out of here but he's a pervert that listens to good music isn't he 0.52

00:40:19.200 pervert true good taste absolutely that was the funny part when they sent me wild ones i was like 0.95

00:40:26.000 somebody suggested like you should do a verse on wild ones and i was like

00:40:28.880 yeah yeah i'm gonna sing about my wife though like i'm not getting on any song with a young

00:40:33.840 woman and not talk about the most important woman in my life they were like cool i was like whatever

00:40:38.560 as long as the label don't trip on my verse because i sent a verse in just like not think 0.89

00:40:43.440 i thought they were rejected because i'm talking like shit a little bit right you know what i'm saying 0.80

00:40:47.040 i was like yeah they're not gonna let me fly it and they were like this is it i was like 0.97

00:40:50.560 fucking let's go so far yeah it was so good bunny is my what's that line bunny's my holly queen 0.92

00:40:56.000 yeah you know what i'm saying getting back to getting to the freedom of having a getting 0.98

00:41:01.040 a rap verse oh dude it's like it feels so i've been in a situation lately where i've got to go

00:41:05.760 write a bunch of stuff by myself or like in two ways again like save me or you know what i mean like

00:41:11.200 that style and it's been a ball which we should do i pulled up to a lot of places and just been

00:41:16.720 thrown into like a feature category again when they're just like well just write something for

00:41:20.160 this and i'm just like hell yeah good stuff yeah it's normally like we write in like twos or threes

00:41:26.240 because it's easier to bounce ideas off each other that way yeah and uh but like when you go do a

00:41:31.200 feature for somebody especially in the hip-hop world they just you just got a beat and you're just like

00:41:35.280 writing something you're like by yourself again it's the coolest most dangerous thing ever because

00:41:39.200 you go back to what you think's cool yeah you know what i mean it's like i don't give a 0.95

00:41:42.240 fuck what nobody thinks i'm wigging out about this i think this is sick i mean i'm on my kitchen 0.95

00:41:47.040 table i still write the kitchen table like when i was a kid i got my little headphones on my wife's 0.99

00:41:51.040 out there and then finally i'll be like come check this out you're pen to pad too right now yeah i'm 0.98

00:41:54.960 still yeah yeah i'm still old school i love that i can't well because fuck i also don't know how to 0.89

00:41:59.200 play the music and go to my notes at the same time on my phone my hand don't work fast enough 0.91

00:42:04.000 like if when i try writing a it's either illegible because is that how you pronounce that yeah or

00:42:09.360 something illegible yeah yeah my handwriting so bad because i'm trying to write so fast because my

00:42:14.160 thoughts and like i'm afraid i'll forget it by the time i get done i've never seen you write

00:42:17.920 anyways though you've never i've never seen you describe in the room nobody believes you write

00:42:21.680 anything and people just believe you just show up yeah literally i've never written a song on the

00:42:27.600 back and a hit falls out of you dude name one time you've been the guy with the laptop type of the 0.53

00:42:32.480 fucking lyrics artist never the guy with the laptop but i do sometimes i do write complete ideas 0.91

00:42:37.760 in my notes on my phone and then bring it with and put a guitar to it but often it is just like 0.99

00:42:42.960 music somebody get a voice note going yeah blah you know somebody type that out yeah yeah i need

00:42:49.840 scribes what's that line i remember seeing you get so excited about it's like uh map dot oh ain't oh

00:42:55.600 hardy said that ain't that a map dot shame he's in uh more than my hometown ain't that a map dot shame

00:43:02.560 and i think that yeah i mean i added nothing to that song that night other than the room we wrote it in

00:43:08.160 and then when he said that i about ran through a glass wall i was so i remember you saying one

00:43:14.400 time i was so fired up i was so excited you were about that lyric i don't know i mean it caught me

00:43:18.800 off guard ain't that a map dot ain't that a map dot shane ain't that a map dot shane yeah it was so

00:43:24.160 good that's such a cool way and i like that's that lyric uh well i got i took some pills she took the

00:43:31.680 dogs all it's all gone to hell that's a hell of a one she's gone to her mom god dude and i took up 1.00

00:43:38.320 drinking since she took the time to tell me i took the best years of her life god sad it is sad

00:43:46.960 that's always make me happy yeah i wonder if uh if people relate more now to sad do you think overall

00:43:54.640 that music's sad or different than it was when we were like growing up and you and i are probably more

00:43:59.680 closer to age and earnest but like i just wonder sometimes you know i think so i think is there

00:44:05.120 more sadder music i think there's more real more vulnerability okay there you go it was so curated

00:44:10.560 so music used to be curated there was it was the labels were in the power and they would curate

00:44:17.040 songwriters they would pick the songs they would make the artists record the songs like it was a big

00:44:22.720 deal when artists got to start picking their own songs in this town there was a time where like labels

00:44:27.200 were like this is your song i called it i get in trouble every time i do this by the way but 0.94

00:44:31.200 fuck it i called it the build a bear system right like nashville was like build a bear like they would 0.97

00:44:36.400 find a bear they would put cowboy hat on bear cowboy boots on bear they would give bear a song give 1.00

00:44:42.960 bear a guitar make bear have a band of bears behind bear put bear on tour yeah put bear on radio yeah and 0.97

00:44:50.320 it was completely like they were these dudes were like fucking robots they were muppets right you know what i 0.90

00:44:54.640 mean for the the system and the power and what we've seen in light of the internet and i always 0.98

00:44:59.760 compare stuff to like other things for connectivity and comedy we've seen it as well right and podcasting

00:45:06.640 and and the the ability to y'all to go direct to consumer right like like the idea that a guy like

00:45:13.040 zach bryan can be writing songs in the military and sets up his phone and just sweating just singing

00:45:20.240 his ass off and can connect with people with with no in-between right yeah and that's why sometimes

00:45:25.680 the establishment don't like him because they had absolutely nothing to do with his success but we've

00:45:31.280 gotten to a place where like we're back this the last time this really happened and somebody's gonna 0.92

00:45:35.760 argue with me but fuck them was in the 60s and the 70s the singer songwriter movement yeah right where 0.97

00:45:42.400 you would see guys that were like writing their own songs and sing their own songs willy nelson wayland 0.99

00:45:50.160 dylan christoph james taylor the outlaws but i mean it went over like i was playing uh you know

00:45:56.480 jackson free have you wrote with him yet oh yeah he's a i love that kid i think i think he's gonna be

00:46:01.200 he's 23 yeah in the next 10 15 years remember we said this name theo this kid's gonna have 30 40 number

00:46:06.800 one jackson free jackson free spells it with an x yeah but he didn't realize how deep dylan's

00:46:12.960 catalog was because like if you're like i don't know if you do you ever get into dylan bob dylan bob

00:46:17.760 dylan yeah i know so then was it the nasal thing that threw you off i don't remember i just don't

00:46:24.480 know if i i just don't remember him that good but it's like you've heard some of his songs without

00:46:29.040 knowing for a heart of gold is that him oh it sounds like tom patty yeah for sure oh yeah i like

00:46:35.920 tom patty

00:46:38.080 i don't know if that did he doesn't have a song he's in the basement mixing up the medicine i'm on

00:46:45.920 the page thinking about the government yeah i think oh wow bob dylan was kind of rapping but he also wrote

00:46:51.200 along the watchtower yes right like he like and jackson didn't realize this and i'm playing him all

00:46:56.560 these big records i'm like you know 10 bob dylan songs i could do a few right now where you're like

00:47:00.480 not i'm like i play them you're like oh fuck i do know 10 bob dylan songs i just know didn't know bob 0.95

00:47:05.280 dylan wrote them yeah because but it was a different era these guys were like writing their own songs and

00:47:11.200 singing them and then we went through the 20 30 year curated space and now it's like there's a lot

00:47:16.320 of guys that are singing their own stories again and that's why i think the connectivity is different

00:47:21.680 and i think the vulnerability shows because it's just me and being honest in their music so it might

00:47:27.120 seem a little sadder but i think it's just more more authentic yeah that's a good that's a great

00:47:32.320 answer yeah i agree with that for sure jesus christ that's a good answer thank you same is the same with

00:47:36.960 the music too more like not even just the lyrics like i don't know pop was so synthesized it feels like

00:47:44.800 synthetic would be the word yeah like now real instruments and like not being so on the grid when i say on the

00:47:51.280 grid like a pro tool session literally locked in on the grid guys like zach playing how it feels more

00:47:57.920 so than just everything's got to be perfect yes and like that just opens up a yard for

00:48:05.840 people that are willing to do it you know kind of break the mold and go play in that yard and that's

00:48:11.760 like yeah sad songs gonna happen in there i love steel guitar steel guitars all over my record and

00:48:16.560 there's not a sadder sounding instrument than steel guitar so i consciously write a lot of times to

00:48:22.560 cater to steel guitar or like what i you know i think that to give you your flowers though outside

00:48:28.800 of the genius you are as a songwriter as the artist earnest that's what makes you special though bubba

00:48:33.520 it's like you focus not only on the top line and the lyric there's a sound that you want you're

00:48:38.960 bringing like you're years ahead of your time with bringing that sound back around just like hardy was

00:48:43.840 years ahead of his time with bringing in the really rock heavy metal country it's like guys like that

00:48:49.520 is when you think about the guys who really went on to win it's because their sound was so different

00:48:54.000 as well not just the they were singing about like that like when i see an earnest show it's like

00:49:00.960 nostalgic it's like this but with new concepts written over the top of this super old nostalgic

00:49:08.000 sound you know what i mean it's just really sick to me and it's the same thing i hear when i hear hardy

00:49:12.640 like listen i bang truck bed like me and bunny are beefing and me and herb we don't argue at all

00:49:18.560 it's my best friend you know what i mean i love my wife we don't have any problems but i still wake

00:49:22.000 up bang truck bed like i'm ready to get divorced yeah you know what i'm saying like that song just

00:49:26.240 fucks in every way and it's because it breaks every rule in nashville oh yeah not just nashville but 0.50

00:49:31.600 every rule and like he said there's a system in music theo that's like okay and he knows the number 0.99

00:49:36.320 system better than me he'll explain this like i don't know the number here's like one four five

00:49:40.320 yeah it's like so okay i did here's the one i gotta go to the four because that's what's supposed

00:49:44.480 to happen next yeah it's like can't you go to the five it's like nope gotta go to the four yeah so 0.97

00:49:48.080 it's like fuck you going to the five you know what i'm saying it's like you know yeah well yeah i think 0.96

00:49:52.080 there's an overall system in the world like that that that kind of like you know the powers that be 0.99

00:49:56.880 kind of feel like they they've got everything down to an algorithm but i think it's it's again

00:50:02.160 proof that uh that originality and hue that there's something inside of us that wants to be

00:50:08.720 original not just individually but even as a species where it's like we don't you know don't

00:50:14.480 confine everything into that space you can't lock us into an algorithm as humans you know like we're

00:50:20.400 gonna find a way out of it you know and i think that's one thing that's great about a lot of the

00:50:24.080 music right now like you say like yeah even some of the artists when you're saying who is even up for

00:50:28.320 best new artists at con i don't even know if i would say half those people are country you know

00:50:32.720 i wouldn't put them just as a country music you know like it's good that's a great term yeah yeah

00:50:37.280 but it's like zach bryant i'm to me it's like he's a some people could say he's their bob dylan you

00:50:43.920 know like yeah yeah yeah genres are totally scared right now yeah like jesse murph is she's in seven

00:50:49.600 genres yeah for sure you know it's like um jelly it's like most people if you just said 10 years 0.97

00:50:54.560 yeah is he a country it's like he's a country motherfucker you know in the sense that you know 0.96

00:51:00.080 like he definitely are true for him in when he's rapping when he's singing country songs or rock 0.98

00:51:05.040 songs the story never story the story is the same it's just a matter of what furniture you're

00:51:11.040 dressing a room and the story needed stop it ernest yeah clip that i got bars now too clip that

00:51:16.800 again i was saying the story stays the same no matter the genre the furniture changes in which 0.98

00:51:21.360 you're decorating damn bro that's fucking hard yeah i needed that thank you brother yeah i needed 0.98

00:51:27.120 that but i'm country i want out first of all i love country music like as a fan like i'm obsessed 0.99

00:51:32.880 with country music have been my whole life and because being from this town i was always fascinated

00:51:37.840 with when i was a kid there was no other job in this town like you were either you know like a layman

00:51:43.360 or a bartender or you worked in country music somehow right yeah for sure yeah 100 it's like

00:51:48.480 you know and my mother was a bartender so she took like great pride in like this like the country

00:51:54.720 music scene being in this town and coming to the bars and like it was like i remember cma week would

00:52:01.520 come uh fanfare is what they called it back then yeah and it would be like an economic shift like our

00:52:07.680 families would plan vacations around it like all right well we can't go to july because fanfare is in

00:52:14.240 june we're gonna have the money then they put back christmas money because it was such this town

00:52:18.800 only had 300 000 people in it then so you got to think we're bringing an extra 50 000 people to town

00:52:23.280 for fanfare it was like a sixth of our population a fifth of our population was just showing up to

00:52:28.560 spend money in one week wow the bartenders celebrate they called it hell week they were like

00:52:32.400 this is gonna suck but we're all gonna get back for all you know what i'm saying like don't worry 0.54

00:52:37.200 we're eating steak on friday baby you know what i'm saying we're gonna afford that divorce next 1.00

00:52:41.760 monday yeah that's gotta be the worst you can't get it worse because you can't afford it it's like

00:52:46.720 ah just waking up every day like i would leave you if i leave you like if i financially could

00:52:52.160 if i had 640 dollars i'd leave you i'd foul right now if i had a dollar for every time i've heard you

00:53:00.000 say it i'd leave you yeah i'm surprised i haven't seen more go fund me's about divorces like just

00:53:06.480 looking for a thousand dollars to file that's hilarious that'd be a great reality facebook

00:53:10.160 marketplace yeah they want three grand to get a newer

00:53:17.200 that's so dude the crazy thing about touring is you still you're like

00:53:20.800 you meet people like oh we're from dipping dot alabama and you're like where the

00:53:24.880 oh i'm from uh mixed breed uh arkansas you're like yeah yeah did you see that video about the

00:53:34.160 most racist town in america being in arkansas and the guy from i can't remember i shouldn't

00:53:38.720 i'm too high to talk about this might have been eric andre maybe who went to no no no it was

00:53:42.160 it's a you it's a famous youtuber i follow his channel i'm just

00:53:44.880 fucking can't remember his name right now the black dude went into him was trying to interview the guy 0.93

00:53:50.880 no it was somebody else i can't remember dude's name but i can't remember his name he's got 0.99

00:53:54.240 he's got dreads and he went to like alaska he always goes to weird places but it was super

00:53:58.720 cool too super cool he went to the war of like a trump shirt or something yeah and he went to the

00:54:03.760 most racist town you would feel you would piss yourself yeah i know your personality when you

00:54:08.480 were trying to be for the most part people were trying to be pretty nice and like be like hey do

00:54:13.520 you know kind of you know where you're at you know he'd be knocking on the door or something and

00:54:18.160 you know an older white couple would come out and be like oh hey like you shouldn't you 0.96

00:54:22.640 probably shouldn't be in this town like try like a fair warning not like we're gonna do anything but

00:54:27.520 i can't speak for my neighbors they're like oh you shouldn't you shouldn't be out after dark i mean

00:54:31.440 you shouldn't be out dark yeah yeah either both yeah but no dude handled it like a champ and he was

00:54:39.040 obviously knew he was going into the fire but it's like it's good content yeah he's good he talked to

00:54:43.680 one old toothless man boy and i cried i pissed myself it was so funny yeah one of my favorite videos i've

00:54:48.560 ever seen in my life yeah i think you should if you want to be racist i think you should at least

00:54:52.960 have to have all your teeth i feel like like right because otherwise you're not even taking care of

00:54:57.680 your end of the d you know it's like you should at least have to fix yourself up yeah yeah yeah who are

00:55:03.360 you yeah there should be a criteria there should be a criteria for race for a guy who doesn't like

00:55:09.120 blacks you have a black space in your smile okay which is really interesting that you'd let a nice 1.00

00:55:17.360 white tooth expire okay kind of hypocritical yeah yeah you and your interracial grin over there oh my 1.00

00:58:54.160 i think what's happening with guys like there's always kind of like guys that come along and evolve this

00:58:59.840 thing and i think it also is an evolution of what men like it's not just the dog and the truck you

00:59:06.720 know some of those old like um what are those things euphemisms you know that you forgot that's

00:59:12.480 killing it all yeah uh analogies yeah yeah tropes something like that but i think those are even

00:59:23.360 evolving it's like what a man is or what you know it's like now a guy's sitting on horseback but he's

00:59:28.720 playing nintendo switch you know yeah the furniture's changed right yeah the furniture's changed but

00:59:34.960 but it is cool it like i was saying about there being a fresh yard to play in as a writer um it

00:59:42.960 is way more freeing to write songs now than it was when i first started writing songs and i think part of

00:59:48.080 that is with some success comes more freedom to get to do it but like yeah like you know the options

00:59:55.920 of guys that will cut songs now are is different like you know you got he's willing to say way more

01:00:01.440 shit than so and so is willing to say or like um you know if post is coming wants to make country 0.57

01:00:08.560 songs like there's an option for like you really got some more freedom to say stuff that you know so 0.92

01:00:14.080 and so over here would never say or never even be able to say that has a little more swag or a little

01:00:18.720 more sauce on it right and that for guys like me i love that because then then i really get to

01:00:23.760 exercise the fun muscle in my brain that's true when artists start to like collab and stuff that's

01:00:29.440 like anything could kind of be happy it could kind of opens the door and then you still have guys like

01:00:32.880 john party that's kind of like fun tree you know like yeah and writing for a guy like that is so much

01:00:38.640 fun too because then you get to step into like a honky-tonk world and you know you know oh this sounds

01:00:43.920 like a party thing it's so cool that's the greatest compliment you can play it pay an artist in life

01:00:50.240 oh yeah when you're thinking of something and you're thinking of a song in your head and you're

01:00:53.360 like man that's a that's a more of a party record like yes that shows how much of a brand he's built

01:00:58.560 with this like how do you say specific don't hurt yourself sorry i'm blowing it like specific yeah like

01:01:07.600 he's so specific and what how did why did it take me that long to get in dude just

01:01:14.080 need some narcan over here

01:01:17.280 only enough to hit jelly with some narcan to get a word out of

01:01:24.400 dude we're gonna be crazy imagine if and this this is separate you're just trying to get a word out

01:01:28.800 but what if there was somebody in your town they were so kind of like 0.99

01:01:33.520 illiterate that if they couldn't get a word out of you fucking hit them a little popper 0.99

01:01:39.200 yeah we say extracurricular extracurricular 0.99

01:01:44.480 wide awake anyways but he's so specific it's like uh i think about it with when we were kids

01:01:50.080 we would go on uh what was it what was it called was it called sound click sound cloud

01:01:54.000 not all the beats oh sound click i think i don't know what was it so there was a there was a website

01:01:59.520 called soundclick.com to get and it would have beats and it would be like producers would make

01:02:04.080 these beats and they would lease them to you but they would title the beats like in this i i dreamed

01:02:09.920 of the day this would happen for me drake type beat yes yes yes eminem type beat yes and it was

01:02:15.840 like that spoke so it goes back to the sound we were talking about earlier in the pod is like

01:02:21.040 great artists build sounds not just great songs as well they build great sounds behind them so like

01:02:26.640 the greatest dream is be like oh that's a john party sounding song that's a kid rock sounding

01:02:31.520 song that's a jelly roll sounding song that's a like that is the greatest compliment because

01:02:36.400 there's a lot of artists in music on pop and country that's like there's four artists that

01:02:41.280 could cut the same song because their sound is just that sound you know what i mean it's just a

01:02:46.800 big it's a big like yeah it's just kind of like down the middle sound it's gonna work people are

01:02:50.960 gonna like it yeah people are gonna like it but it's not polarizing which you know there's

01:02:55.200 artists you know what i'm talking about and then you have the other artists it's like oh that sounds

01:02:59.280 like j cole should be rapping on that yeah that sounds like jelly roll would be singing a song

01:03:04.640 like that like that's what you go for as an art and any young artist watching this that's what i

01:03:09.440 challenge you to do i challenge you to write a thousand songs and i challenge you to make production

01:03:14.240 around it in a way that it's your thing yeah so what he's saying is you're gonna need to go to

01:03:18.240 prison yeah you're gonna want to do a stint you're gonna go to college yeah you don't want to go to

01:03:23.280 college just for long enough to drop out of it uh or prison yeah because otherwise nobody will buy

01:03:28.400 the music at least if you're not a college if you're not a dropout yeah you got to have a story with it

01:03:32.640 yeah you can't be singing about pills and dogs and have a degree in business

01:03:37.280 pick your life pick your life yeah and also dude shout out the producers like joey specifically joey

01:03:43.040 moy uh just one producer of the year i mean he's been he's the goat he's been crushing let me see

01:03:48.960 a picture of him can we bring a picture of him up please uh alex so joey's all our producer me

01:03:53.840 morgan and hardy and he he's a i've met him before yeah you've met joey so he's like

01:04:00.000 joey my no dude he took that picture but um he's the goat goat though he has done such a good job

01:04:06.960 of for years even since nickelback he's been able to build

01:04:10.800 several different brands within the same genre and make each of them unique like

01:04:16.560 how different me morgan and hardy are within the same exact format is he also did florida georgia line

01:04:24.800 yeah florida georgia line chris lane early the big stuff yeah it's like yeah joey joey built all of

01:04:30.960 this and i mean i'll give hardy credit too and he's very hands-on on his sound and um and what he wants

01:04:38.160 to sound like they're very what's the word collaborative uh hardy and joey are but yeah

01:04:43.360 yeah kudos tim that's amazing you know to have to be able to have that those ability you know that

01:04:47.360 ability to to be able to organize not only like put something together but then find different

01:04:54.400 places for things that are really great that can be close to each other and stuff it's yeah it's

01:04:58.560 insane is it true that uh the nickelback record that what the hell is on joey's head that's joey about joey

01:05:04.160 that's joey so yeah i think he had like a fake stanley cup on his head in this photo and they were like

01:05:09.360 stoned and um i think joey's on the cover of high times or something like that with chad at one point

01:05:16.320 but uh yeah that the yeah look at this photograph every time and what the hell is on joey's head

01:05:22.400 oh that was joey more so but think about this while we're giving him his flowers is

01:05:27.200 joey think about this joey did nickelback in the like created the sound that made nickelback the

01:05:34.640 icons they are yeah then went on to do it with florida georgia line yeah hardy earnest and then

01:05:40.160 morgan yeah so it's like his spectrum of decades worth of just reinventing that's a genius dude like

01:05:48.240 it's outside of him inventing artist sounds he's reinventing himself like he's like there's something

01:05:54.560 different happening with that dude man yeah yeah to be able to change yeah i can't it's hard enough

01:05:59.760 for somebody to do something well once yeah for sure to produce a song like animals you know or

01:06:06.800 something in your mouth by nickelback and then also have like seven summers yeah and how different i

01:06:13.200 think about last night like just exactly those two shout out charlie handsome too yeah crazy yeah charlie 0.92

01:06:19.600 he's another young charlie he's so fucking good i gotta have i gotta i gotta have a talk with charlie 0.98

01:06:25.840 yeah charlie's a cool cat yeah what are you gonna tell him man let's get it out how much i love him 0.53

01:06:30.800 i thought it was gonna be about his use or man i love i was like yo is this where we're going

01:06:36.400 i was like when i when i met charlie it was 2018 we were at the universal studios uh the recording

01:06:45.360 studios not the disney world and he's a songwriter just so people know charlie handsome yeah producer

01:06:49.440 songwriter let's bring a picture of him up and truly one of the greatest yeah truly he started out

01:06:54.240 uh like a hip-hop producer but like he's one of the greatest musicians like he plays all instruments

01:06:59.680 he kind of was the first producer to do that acoustic trap stuff like the early on post malone stuff

01:07:05.120 go flex stuff like that that's his gut string guitar and he

01:07:08.960 oh he does all these crazy vocal effects so anyways i met charlie in 2018 when i was like

01:07:15.760 kind of rapping that's that's uh one guy is charlie yeah the guy on the left yeah that's charlie 1.00

01:07:21.920 those are handsome charlie's yeah for sure i fuck with that dude with four cigarettes in his mouth 0.98

01:07:26.880 though but that dude is yeah shout out that guy too yeah that's charlie but charlie's the man and 0.99

01:07:32.880 so we met doing some rap stuff and we talked that day uh about he was like yo i gotta come to nashville

01:07:40.160 he's like i want to get into country and i was at that time had a foot in both doors and i was

01:07:44.640 kind of ready to go the country route foot in what door rapping in country yeah like that's why i was

01:07:48.960 out in la just like making rap beats and doing hooks and stuff yeah i didn't know that i was i was just

01:07:53.520 making the rounds out there and then coming back here and doing country and like i already was boys with

01:07:58.240 morgan for a couple years at that time and sam hunt and fgl so like charlie came into town and we

01:08:04.240 started doing tag team and all these sessions together and that's when like if i know me for

01:08:08.720 morgan came heartless for morgan more than my hometown with the and like it all started happening

01:08:14.320 and my first number one ever was a song called i love my country with florida georgia line me and

01:08:19.760 charlie did um and we just we kind of sat there and accidentally manifested the whole thing is what

01:08:26.960 we talked about that day was like you know i feel like we could go really organically blend these

01:08:31.600 two sounds in nashville uh and and it's happened i mean putting eight it's not like we're the first

01:08:38.640 to ever put 808s with a country song because joey was doing it with cruise back when fgl was doing

01:08:43.760 it but i think i think it's happened i gotta give my boys flowers too zach crowd did it with break

01:08:47.840 that crowd didn't break up in a small town he might have been the first to do it probably so yeah

01:08:51.840 but so the way it's evolved organically though to where it's like it doesn't sound like such a

01:08:58.240 mesh it just sounds like one brand and then it's the voice that's pulling it home when it's probably

01:09:04.000 getting into people's systems too after it gets in their system a little bit they're kind of used to

01:09:07.280 hearing it without putting a frog in warm water so charlie charlie charlie's charlie's really one of

01:09:11.840 those special ones shout out shout out to ernest by the way yeah ernest it's funny how ernest always

01:09:19.760 finds himself you know and he's so humble about it he's like yo this guy and this guy and this 0.99

01:09:24.080 guy it's like you always be in the room too motherfucker i know you i've been with you you're 0.99

01:09:27.600 you're fucking he's something special i sneak into a lot of room yeah yeah yeah ernest is i 0.99

01:09:31.920 don't sneak i always love ernest that he's uh always makes me laugh he's one of the funniest 0.99

01:09:36.000 guys to be around he's fucking hilarious on he's my favorite facetime yeah if i look down at my 0.83

01:09:41.440 phone it's a facetime and it's worth it like i don't every time you're like i don't know what this

01:09:45.840 is but it's gonna be fucking awesome it could be a hit song idea it could be a hit song idea he 0.86

01:09:51.680 could be up fucking partying on his bus at four in the morning he could just have a bit call with 0.93

01:09:56.000 a joke like yo check this out yeah it's like just like i know if ko wetzel's on with him on the same 0.92

01:10:02.080 facetime yeah i'm gonna need to call my sponsor yeah i'm gonna merge calls with my sponsor the idea

01:10:09.440 of ko wetzel makes my liver and nose hurt he's hearing his name i just got ptsd we gotta get

01:10:15.280 ko on here man oh my goodness dude he's a people everybody loves him so much i'd probably do an

01:10:20.800 afternoon with him he's not awake there's no unless he's if he's awake he's hunting right now yeah he's

01:10:26.000 he has been him i just seen a picture of gary dale posted him and his dad have been out killing

01:10:29.840 shit he's an after yeah he can hunt i love ko man he's such a good dude he's one of the he's uh

01:10:35.200 his whole crew is cool yeah he's also man shout out dre dre is the dude yeah dre roca yeah 0.99

01:10:40.960 fucking the dude yeah but i tell you something else about ko that i think gets overlooked because 0.92

01:10:46.080 he's he's so fun and the party and just who he is it's just also man he's incredible dude like if you 0.99

01:10:53.120 see him with just a guitar i mean i've seen him blowed out of his mind pick up a guitar and just kill

01:11:00.000 kill it's like so second nature to what he does he's so ingrained in the music side of it you know

01:11:06.400 like we were in a writing room one day and he was trying to he was like no here here he's like this

01:11:11.360 just hand it to me brantley gilbert's like that too and brantley will throw that guitar on it just man

01:11:15.200 i mean i always you're a great guitar player in a room you know what i mean it's like you notice the

01:11:20.000 ones that are like different you're like and i think maybe ko caught me off guard because i didn't

01:11:24.560 expect it yeah because we partied all night the night before like all night to like nine in the

01:11:29.280 morning or something it was like fucking got dark it was fucking deep and i was just like we got to 0.94

01:11:34.000 the studio like four the next afternoon we're both like shaking we're both in really bad shape you've 0.96

01:11:40.000 been there and it's like and i'm watching this dude just pour a song out of him i'm like this is

01:11:45.040 crazy yeah i brought no value i had to leave i was like yo i'm out that's me dude i feel so bad 0.90

01:11:51.120 i'm trying to have sex on cocaine yeah i'm gonna bring nothing to the table yeah let me uh yeah i 0.97

01:11:56.560 can't even bring the tape i'm getting this up the stairs i've already sold the table you were talking 0.98

01:12:03.280 about somebody um like joey getting to live there a few people get to do it once and we were talking

01:12:09.760 about tyler hubbard for a second yeah tyler i'll tell you a great story about tyler so i went to i

01:12:14.240 don't know this actually isn't a great story but it is a story and um i just realized it wasn't that great

01:12:19.760 okay but we went to see uh we saw hardy and morgan and ernest at um fenway park right and it was

01:12:27.600 beautiful like beautiful day great set wait place to see a show because you're inside fenway park where

01:12:32.320 you've seen baseball but you've never seen a show in there yeah and like hardy's up there with the

01:12:36.080 american flag and like ernest's kid runs out on the stage with him oh rhyming yeah twinkle twinkle

01:12:42.320 yeah second he heard a song though he's like i'm out of here he really came got me he's like dude this 0.72

01:12:46.400 guy's fucking bonk right it's his dad yeah get me out of here i was like dude that's your father 0.99

01:12:51.280 we have to little respect i need a cigarette he'll be there yeah i think he really liked the music he 0.99

01:12:57.760 just wanted some nicotine yeah um but anyway afterwards i'm leaving and i'm like shit i stayed 0.86

01:13:03.440 a little too late to be able to beat like like we had to just walk back to my hotel so and it was a

01:13:09.040 way there's probably a half a mile so i'm like so i get out there and i'm kind of start to argue with

01:13:14.800 this cab driver a little bit he does we don't we neither want to speak the other guy's language

01:13:19.120 right so we're trying to figure out how far i need to go uh and tyler pulls right up dude with his

01:13:26.160 family oh incredible you want to get in yes dude and i was like thank you man cruise bro cruise i think

01:13:35.440 i think he's gonna be one of the few that got to live his dream twice wow it looks like it with the

01:13:40.480 songs he's putting out he's a sweet guy yeah the hits he's getting on country radio to me yeah

01:13:45.920 it's been great and uh i think i told him that one night i was like man very few men in life get to

01:13:50.560 live their dream once and i think you're fixing to get to do it twice wow technically three times

01:13:54.640 because then you and bk will get back together later and go do the blowout reunion thing and

01:13:58.720 it'll be fucking big again you know what i'm saying yeah what will happen with them yeah can 0.81

01:14:02.560 that happen that florida georgia line could get back together you think i don't you know he 0.91

01:14:06.160 knows i'm better than me i just met bk the other day who i'm who i think i love bk

01:14:09.920 chest pie they have both always been so they've both always been so good to me like i said bro

01:14:14.640 when i was when i was still snow they had me come that was your rapper name yeah i was just like

01:14:20.160 in nickname it was just that era i marked that era it was like 2014 2015 2011 through 2014 was the snow

01:14:27.200 days and and those were like brian and tyler had i had no business being in a room writing songs with

01:14:33.120 them and and they and big loud and them took a way early chance on me years before i needed it

01:14:40.640 well that's another another nod to like people changing genres and thinking of something different

01:14:46.240 because who would think i'm gonna get a white rapper yeah you know or who would think you know

01:14:50.800 a lot of guys probably weren't thinking i'm gonna get this a rapper in here to try with me you know

01:14:54.720 right yeah it's cool i mean and then you know having having the rapper mentality and then having also

01:15:01.760 signed a country writing publishing deal kind of forced my hand to just start doing a weird hybrid

01:15:09.280 where i was like i was really rapping like i would be like doing 16 bar verses like a rap would but i

01:15:14.960 was adding melodies and doing it over acoustic and stuff like that and then you know that was just

01:15:21.760 like i said putting the frog in warm water i was the frog in warm water as far as finally fully

01:15:27.760 committing the brand and craft to like country songwriting and like i think i shied away from

01:15:33.440 it for so long because i thought you had to be redneck to be country and i'm not the most redneck 0.77

01:15:39.120 guy i've done redneck shit with my friends i got redneck friends for sure but i'm country and i'm and it 0.87

01:15:46.240 took me a while to even realize that because you know i didn't grow up on a farm we moved to 13 acres 0.94

01:15:53.600 my senior year which was not because of poverty you know it's like i had a pretty decent um so i

01:16:00.160 like shied away from the country things i don't want to be fake but oh i see but some of my favorite

01:16:05.600 songs ever written ain't got nothing to do with big trucks and mud it's like love or heartbreak and

01:16:11.760 pain and it's like oh being a country artist can just be telling your story and the music is my

01:16:20.080 favorite music anyway so like once i wrapped my head around that and wasn't ashamed to be country

01:16:25.040 and realized i am country then i was like yeah let's let's go i'm not redneck well yeah dude i'll

01:16:30.640 never forget the first time my mama played uh looking for trouble and i found a son right down

01:16:35.840 a barrel of a long man gone ain't living long like this ain't living long like this my baby and i was

01:16:44.160 like yo did you sing country huh who sang that well wayland jenny's wayland it sounds like you

01:16:50.320 that's what's crazy i mean it sounds like that's the that's what inspired me though right that was

01:16:56.000 the stuff that i was like yo this is awesome you know it's like that was to me um willie nelson's

01:17:03.360 blue eyes crying in the rain he's like classic red angel flying too close to the ground dude man

01:17:09.600 and lucas doing it at the birthday party was insane too oh that's one of my favorite songs

01:17:15.440 just he his the whole catalog of willie was willie inspired me to understand that the person out the

01:17:23.840 the pain like i used to think because i was like a bubbly big dude that i couldn't sing sad songs but

01:17:29.280 all i wrote was sad songs you know what i mean and then you look at guys like willie you know the braids

01:17:34.480 the guitar the headband and then he goes he's like famous stoner like who willie is outside of the

01:17:40.640 music yeah and then he would get on stage and sing the saddest song ever you know what i mean it was

01:17:47.840 like that inspired me so so much but just high enough to come back around i think they'll get back

01:17:54.480 together florida georgia line i think their impact was too big i don't know if it's in the next five

01:17:59.520 years or ten but it's just like i'm still holding on to hope yeah i just listen to andre 3000's

01:18:04.160 flute album yeah i was just high enough to really dig it to be honest yeah yeah yeah but

01:18:09.120 i was thinking to myself there's no way even if we don't see an outcast album ever again

01:18:14.720 that there's not going to be a day where something's going to come along that we're

01:18:17.440 going to see outcast on a stage again unless you plan to buy yeah you know what i mean yeah

01:18:23.120 i just don't think i think their their cultural impact was too big oh dirt is a song i'll play a lot

01:18:28.160 of times yeah yeah for sure dirt confession anything goes yeah hey i'll say chris

01:18:33.680 tomkins demo if anything goes it's just him and a keyboard really i'll show you i'll show all

01:18:38.640 y'all one day i'm trying to think of uh what else is something i was going to think about asking you

01:18:42.800 boys let me try let me show you this new hat i got you like this hat i got yeah that's fire lane

01:18:49.040 it's a uh this lane this lane frost he is a um his daddy was a uh will you bring him up do you mind

01:19:00.320 if you get a chance alex lane i gotta make a phone call really quick no sweat i'll talk to jelly i love

01:19:04.880 that ernest is so earnest he's like i gotta make a phone call like he's like i'm just high enough to

01:19:09.280 remember i was supposed to call my doctor at 12 he's like dude i'm doing obviously i don't need

01:19:16.080 to be in here uh lane frost right there celebrating a bull riding legend one of the best bull riders of

01:19:21.360 all time um yeah can we get on his wikipedia at least it might help us some yeah oh he died in 1989

01:19:29.760 yeah why he died young his parents lived in la pointe utah his father was on the rodeo circuit

01:19:38.720 um yo hold on hold on this is crazy he sustained severe injuries at the 1989 cheyenne frontier days

01:19:45.680 rodeo i played that before it's a huge deal dude me and ko wetzel played that really dude i'm

01:19:51.920 headlining cheyenne frontier days this year if you're off that day you should come out and see it 0.97

01:19:57.040 it is the wildest fucking shit you it's so legendary really it's it is like seeing that 0.98

01:20:02.720 just gave me goosebumps you know uh think about george straits i can still make cheyenne uh think 1.00

01:20:07.440 about uh yeah think about garth brooks beaches of beaches of uh drew a bull in wyoming no man could

01:20:13.200 ride i'm getting goosebumps this is crazy all this was about this guy then look at that big goosebumps 0.98

01:20:19.040 bro wow that's true huh yeah it must have been about him look uh damn oh those are 1.00

01:20:26.880 real right some fucking buzzards you got going baby damn that's the power of music and stuff you 0.99

01:20:32.240 hatching buzzards right there go back to uh to lane frost real quick and go down a little bit more 0.99

01:20:38.400 on them early life on january 5th frost married kelly kyle a barrel racer and then how did he pass away

01:20:47.360 on july 30th at cheyenne frontier days in cheyenne wyoming after completing a successful 85 point

01:20:52.560 ride on a brahma bull named taking care of business uh frost dismounted and landed in the

01:20:57.520 mud the bull then turned and pressed his right horn on frost back and pushed him against the muddy

01:21:01.680 floor oh he was rushed to he fell to the ground causing his heart and lungs to be punctured by his

01:21:07.920 ribs oh he died on the way to the hospital he's 25 years old man you gotta come with me this year if i do

01:21:14.320 it that's crazy dude um i will that's amazing man i appreciate you saying that i'll have to

01:21:20.800 this sounds really really cool oh there's a movie eight seconds where luke perry uh r.i.p played the

01:21:28.400 role of frost and he has a son though lane frost i think is maybe this maybe or this maybe this uh

01:21:34.400 hat line might just be named after him yeah frost parents

01:21:38.720 oh they played tribute to him with the dance video that garth brooks put out this is crazy

01:21:44.800 wow country music star zach bryan's middle name is lane after frost wow what are the odds bro

01:21:51.760 what are the somebody just gave me this hat randomly the other day i see it across the room i go put it

01:21:56.880 on and we're back down to zach frost i want one now and his 2022 song open the gate is a tribute to

01:22:02.800 his namesake wow man that's awesome gosh dude there's something about storytelling man there's

01:22:08.400 something about that people get us you know you want people to relate to things and feel something

01:22:13.760 yeah you know have you said because what does music look like do you think moving forward for

01:22:18.640 you you know do you think like more about it i mean do you think like about staying more in a

01:22:24.720 certain lane you all good earnest okay cool no worries we'll just go a little bit longer man

01:22:29.920 do you think about staying in a different lane or doing it do you have any thoughts like or is there

01:22:34.080 new stuff you working on or what's yeah man i'm actually i'm actually proud to say this i've got

01:22:38.640 more demos in my phone right now than i've ever had like i've wrote more this year than i've wrote in

01:22:43.360 a year in a long time i just wrote on the tour this year i've been gone all year i've only slept in my

01:22:47.600 bed 36 days i don't think i don't know we got that on the early part that's insane but i've been gone

01:22:52.480 like that much this year so it's like i've just been writing wherever i can whenever i can and it's

01:22:58.640 really ignited a flame in me again about the writer's side i've been writing a lot of songs

01:23:02.720 just by myself again just with folks or just oh by yourself with folks too but i've been doing a

01:23:08.320 lot of just like not with me falling back you've been so busy too you but i bet you ain't slipping

01:23:12.880 your bed 90 days this year no it has been crazy but you're touring so unorthodox you're on tour

01:23:17.200 this week you got shows in two days but see but we tour different you're doing like the pop

01:23:23.120 i'm doing rock and roll yeah rock and roll i'm gone for four months and not home at all and we go out

01:23:28.080 every weekend you know we're back monday i hated that though let's talk about that

01:23:31.600 it stretches it out pretty far stuff too i'm kind of sporadic yeah i'll do like four days in a week

01:23:35.920 and then i'll take off a week or i'll do two weeks four four days five days and then take off for two

01:23:40.480 weeks see what they're doing that i don't like is that's cool that's actually the way to do it probably

01:23:45.440 the way they do it i don't like this respectfully everybody does their own way but it's not my way

01:23:50.160 they do probably no shit ernest you're doing 47 weekends this year if i had to guess 0.65

01:23:55.120 out of 52 weeks jesus that's a lot yeah no right 45 at least i'd say we started um we started 0.97

01:24:03.760 the first week of march and then pretty much every weekend until this with the exception of

01:24:11.520 when morgan had to cancel a few shows i got a couple extra weekends off and like we still

01:24:15.680 picked up some gigs during that but yeah we filled that up i played a lot of shows probably 38 weekends

01:24:20.960 it's like for me i would never get in the rhythm theo it's like when i'm gone that much by the

01:24:25.600 time i came home sunday and slept monday i'd get rid of the hangover monday i'd be like all right i'm

01:24:31.200 feeling better tuesday i'd start rotating in the world but wednesday night at midnight the bus left

01:24:35.600 again yeah you know what i mean so it's like i prefer to rock and roll style tour where like i just

01:24:40.640 went out and did 11 weeks and did five shows a week and did 55 shows in 11 weeks

01:24:45.600 i never tried another option that's i've never tried that crazy i don't know if i could hang

01:24:51.280 i personally i don't know i think i just get we just get too burnt out probably how many buses you

01:24:56.320 got now four no we did uh i guess eight or eight or nine maybe ten on your tour buses yeah you got

01:25:03.520 you got your own bunny's got her own yeah and then we did seven so it was nine jesus christ you have one

01:25:08.320 bus i don't know i think we did 10 tractor trailers too yeah big tour i mean you gotta think we did arenas

01:25:13.600 it was a big your production's insane yeah that's true yeah we did and i want i want to make sure

01:25:17.920 that like i want to i'm very a stickler about doing it right like if i have to take a haircut and lose

01:25:23.760 a little money but i know that the show is going to look that much better like i bought content for

01:25:29.360 my show nobody buys content for their shows everybody uses stock content because it costs

01:25:33.600 a million dollars you know what i mean and i was like i'm buying content though like i want to create

01:25:37.200 my own it's insane yeah i want i want i know it's a one-of-a-kind show because they're so hard to do

01:25:42.160 one-of-a-kind shows right nothing news under the sun everybody's done it twice you know what i'm

01:25:46.640 saying it's like we all got the same video walls to some degree yeah we only got so much room to

01:25:50.720 play with you know what i mean and i was like at least if i create content it took nine months to

01:25:54.880 build the content for the tour yeah we're building an animation right now to play we just got some

01:25:59.920 screens and some of these venues i may go back though to just not doing like we just started doing

01:26:05.280 some arenas this week like some smaller kind of i mean the word arenas is kind of loosely but like

01:26:10.960 a lot of them are like uh college basketball places we call them hockey arenas yeah and they're

01:26:16.560 big rooms are you doing arizona state we might i don't know we did uh pikeville that was a tough

01:26:24.240 that was actually a tough room some of the audio in the rooms is not we're bringing our own all our

01:26:29.120 speakers and stuff but it's tough some of it's not built for what's the horizon is that the verizon

01:26:34.800 center whatever it is right there in pikeville it's that little arena in the middle of downtown

01:26:37.840 yeah it's a i mean and pikeville is beautiful it's beautiful i mean it's like nestled in the

01:26:43.200 mountains it's sexy unreal it's like this perfect little place did you drive up there we'd bust in

01:26:49.280 yeah i drove up there because the drive when we played pikeville that day i was like i had to do it

01:26:55.040 was incredible you drive through that little because pikeville's up there in like the corner of 1.00

01:26:59.440 kentucky and uh west virginia right it's like right there in that little like mountainous area right

01:27:05.760 there beautiful it's fucking we went for a nice hike before but that audio was that i felt like 0.95

01:27:10.400 sometimes i just kind of felt like that venue the audio was kind of tough at it you ever have some 0.95

01:27:14.240 of those where some of you're just like man it's just yes and you feel disappointed because you're

01:27:18.000 like it it does it's not helping me as much you know but um here's the deal though i knew that you

01:27:23.360 were gonna have to start picking up arenas when i was seeing the two or three theater shows in a day

01:27:27.600 pop yeah and you're in a weird spot man where it's like how do you feel about this because the

01:27:32.640 problem you're gonna run into if you don't start playing big arenas is your people everybody who

01:27:36.960 wants to come ain't gonna be able to come there's still people not getting a ticket to see you and

01:27:40.800 you're playing 8 000 cap arenas there's still people in that market like damn wish i could

01:27:45.280 have went to go see theo friday without a ticket you know yeah i don't know i think i think part of it

01:27:50.160 is i'll just keep doing the tour and i'll just come back instead of trying to do it that's one nice

01:27:54.800 thing it's like okay we realize this area we could more people want to come see it then we'll

01:27:59.120 come back again i'd rather do the same like not the same material but you know let it evolve over

01:28:03.920 time yeah but do that for five years and by the end of it it's a whole new show or you know it might

01:28:09.360 be a new show and a half by then yeah but it's like yeah i don't think feeling like i need to hurry and

01:28:15.280 then get an hour out and then it's like you know we'll come back i tell people all the time if tickets

01:28:21.520 are too expensive if it's aftermarket we'll come back it might be a year and a half you know you might not

01:28:26.400 be alive you might not even be alive you might die before i get back here but that's your issue

01:28:30.960 i'll be back how do you um some of that's on them if you don't mind talking about it where are you at

01:28:34.880 with your hour um i'm good yeah we're doing like i'm doing like an hour and 20 minutes on stage right

01:28:40.400 now you feel like you've got a new hour yeah what are you thinking about filming i don't know if i will

01:28:44.960 i think i'm just gonna tour for a while and not hurry myself into that next space yeah you know me and

01:28:51.200 david spade wrote like a movie we might want to try to get made so we talked about maybe getting

01:28:56.160 you to get you as a anything you need yo i'll do something too man oh great we're package deal

01:29:03.280 now we just hired you yeah yeah um freaking frat over here but yeah i was i was going to present at

01:29:10.160 the cmas actually they asked but i had a show that night in uh south greenville south carolina

01:29:17.280 and i just got back from greenville it's beautiful where'd you go where were you

01:29:21.440 oh on the collar no no okay we just did the blind horse saloons that place is awesome i love that

01:29:26.960 place did you play coyote joe's the night before no we didn't do the two side we didn't route it that

01:29:31.040 way we're going from rockingham greenville's beautiful there's so many cool places i didn't

01:29:35.600 know down there on this tour was incredible yo we did our tour party in greenville oh i got a story

01:29:40.240 this is a story i don't know if it's a good one but it's a story

01:29:43.520 i love the honesty yeah but we played greenville and we had the night off before so what they did

01:29:49.840 was they let us load in the arena the day before and then we rented this place god they're gonna be

01:29:55.200 so mad i can't remember their name but it was the coolest thing ever it was like uh it was an adult

01:30:00.320 playground kind of like they served booze and they had pizza and they had a yeah they had a putt putt

01:30:06.080 golf center in it you could throw axes they had like beer pong games they had ping pong like it

01:30:13.360 was like it was like like one of those like adults yeah but it was like adult like we were

01:30:18.880 all in there we rented the whole place uh and get blackout drunk and most of the crew did whippets 0.87

01:30:23.920 and blow and it was just crazy i mean it got really crazy dude it was it was and it was all 75 people

01:30:31.360 from the tour because it was like a 75 person crew all the drivers came because we parked the day before

01:30:37.200 so the truck drivers and the bus drivers got to get drunk it was like watching the bus drivers get

01:30:42.160 drunk nothing tickled me yeah yeah you know what i'm saying because they live a real kind of like

01:30:46.320 regimented sober yeah you know what i mean it's like the one night where it's like y'all don't have to

01:30:50.320 drive for 40 hours like just give your the buses were already parked at the venue yeah the venue

01:30:55.680 been loaded in let's try i hired ivs for everybody the next day so i had like a 10 person nursing staff 0.91

01:31:01.440 backstage amazing so when everybody got to the venue like oh yeah truck drivers are getting ivs it was the

01:31:06.720 night we gave away the bonuses for the tour oh what a night it was special no social attitude

01:31:11.840 no no no this place is way cooler that place sucks can put it when you find this place dude you're 0.80

01:31:16.640 going to be blown away that's like oh brother this is like a mini it's like a mini it's got like mini 0.99

01:31:22.720 putt-putt golf um they got axe throwing inside of there oh they got damn baby it was it was it was 0.65

01:31:29.920 they had karaoke we were getting drunk doing karaoke we all karaoke struggle songs it was awesome 0.76

01:31:35.120 oh that's so good it was really cool man it was awesome what uh what else did we have in the news

01:31:40.080 what was in the news in there how did uh did y'all think morgan was upset about not getting that

01:31:44.640 award you think he cared uh i mean i don't know they didn't even let him go there last year right

01:31:51.360 i'm not sure i don't i don't know if he was there or not last year i think he performed

01:31:54.960 i think i remember him performing yeah probably i think i remember him performing i think he did

01:31:58.480 you prove look well it was really cool that boy's pockets are fine yeah he's fine he's he's got some

01:32:02.880 of the best fans he's the he's the most um him getting 11 billboard music awards were deserved i

01:32:08.400 mean he's the most because that one is not up to anybody except it's uh not just stats i think

01:32:14.800 billboard is stats it's just stats right so that's the truth it's yeah him taylor and zach

01:32:21.200 are the juggernauts of streaming like it doesn't even it doesn't even get close

01:32:30.080 morgan zach and luke combs are the three biggest streamed artists in country music

01:32:36.000 zach and morgan and luke luke to some degree in the world of all artists but morgan and taylor are

01:32:41.360 by far the two juggernauts yeah i mean it don't it don't get no bigger than morgan wallon on no on

01:32:47.280 earth like he's bigger than bad bunny he sold more records than bad bunnies you know what i mean 0.98

01:32:51.840 it's like all that shit you think was doing great morgan just came in i was like hold my beer 0.99

01:32:56.240 so it's like he's he's so you know what i mean it's he's in such a stratosphere of his own 0.99

01:33:00.960 i tell people this the way i tell them you have luke streaming wise morgan zach and luke in that order

01:33:08.560 of the three biggest streamers in country music and on spotify alone the gap between them and the

01:33:14.240 next biggest streamed artists in country music which would probably be bailey kane or maybe me

01:33:19.440 weirdly enough mm-hmm the gap between us three and them and us three and those three is probably

01:33:25.680 a billion streams this year that's crazy on spotify alone it's crazy does that make sense like that's

01:33:31.040 how far five and six a billion lower yeah yeah it's it's crazy it's like it's like well if you're

01:33:38.800 like imagine if i do end up being the fourth most streamed artist in country music somebody said how

01:33:42.560 far away from the third where i go 1.3 million you know what i'm saying like a light on spotify

01:33:48.160 alone you know what i'm saying it's like we're never gonna get there you know what i'm saying

01:33:53.520 to some degree these award shows have to be a little different because there'd be no sense of

01:33:58.000 nobody else showing up your point you know what i'm saying it's like if we were like really grading 0.97

01:34:02.000 it on that it's like just give them all the fucking morgan taylor you know what i'm saying 0.97

01:34:06.800 that's actually a great point you have to make it yeah that's a good point the show itself has to make 0.98

01:34:10.880 things kind of exciting and there's other there's other awards there's like the billboards that it's

01:34:14.800 based on the stats so there's no like yeah yeah rigmarole was there an after party or anything you

01:34:19.680 guys get to go to oh i had bus call i had to go yeah that boy had an after we partied me and laney

01:34:24.960 had our own party and shout out laney wilson we love laney wilson dude and i don't know if anybody's

01:34:30.080 worked harder this yeah she we saw her i got to take my niece to her first concert right and it was uh

01:34:35.360 laney we took her to her laney and hardy in baton rouge and it was cool man you know she's great

01:34:41.040 and it was just so much fun she got to meet her and it was just but man she was you could tell that

01:34:45.600 she was getting burnt out she'd worked no she slept in her bed last year 17 days 17 days of all of

01:34:54.640 2022 is how many days she slept in her bed it's in like wow this is what i say i'm willing to do the

01:35:02.160 stuff nobody else in this town's willing to do as far as like work like media go spend three weeks

01:35:07.440 in new york or what like i go do that that's just what i do i'm into it she's willing to do the stuff

01:35:12.480 i won't do like laney i've never seen nobody work genuinely harder than her her schedule gives me 0.85

01:35:20.320 anxiety you know what i mean and my schedule would give the average human anxiety and her schedule gives

01:35:25.920 me anxiety like she has she is utterly fearless nope dude i think everything i think she stood on

01:35:33.600 stage 160 something times this year yeah 170 times this year that's just for as 45 minutes being the

01:35:42.320 smallest set 90 being the biggest all year it's insane you know but yeah that's wild man because all

01:35:48.480 the things radio all the streaming things so the yellows do whatever she's she's she is make a gumbo 1.00

01:35:55.680 babysit your cat yeah she'll have everything on her schedule yeah well we talked about this the other

01:36:00.000 day like i think she's obviously and you two are going to be able to say no a lot more yeah than you 0.95

01:36:05.600 were able to in the last year or two yeah and saying yes is like you got to for a lot of those things

01:36:11.600 and obviously it's like paid off and people are recognizing it the work and i i would i would be remiss

01:36:17.920 not to say that you know dude i when i called lip thank you when i called laney for save me

01:36:23.440 i said laney i'm gonna be honest man i'm i'm i'm i'm i'm i've said this a thousand times but i'm

01:36:28.560 hitching my trailer to your train here i took this song as far as it can go wow this song was a double

01:36:33.200 platinum that's kind of true in a in an interesting way huh because that song i'd heard it i'd listen to

01:36:37.520 it a bunch and it still had its place in my heart in moments where i was by myself and i like to listen

01:36:42.400 to it but it kind of that was you got to hear a different perspective a different voice a woman

01:36:47.840 perspective i was like and and as hot as she is at country radio i was like this is all you even

01:36:53.840 when we got to the last course when she did all the ad libs and extra stuff she's like you want to

01:36:57.280 come in here and sing back and forth i was like not at all as far as i'm concerned this is now your

01:37:01.200 song you know what i'm saying this i was a double platinum record when i gave it to her i was like

01:37:05.280 yo this i've done all i can do with this song but i think this song could still help so many people

01:37:10.320 if you would just be a part of it and she was like yeah i'm totally in and there's no way that this was

01:37:14.320 my number one in 16 weeks by myself or 20 weeks or whatever it ended up being you know what i mean

01:37:20.080 so she she definitely she definitely came in and put her sauce on it yes she really i mean we got to

01:37:26.560 have her come in and she's from louisiana she's from bastrip i think you look that up please for me 0.98

01:37:32.240 sounds right yeah bumfuck yeah for a fucking spit like baskin robbins louisiana 0.99

01:37:44.560 baskin yeah huh fucking bitch killed her husband remember when for no reason for no reason america 1.00

01:37:53.360 somebody wrote online yeah carol baskin killed her husband and everybody for two years like that 1.00

01:37:58.960 joe dirt still wants her dead from prison and now she's doing not joe dirt joe exotic same difference

01:38:09.040 dude literally the same guy same guy joe exotic joe exotic that dude's always dming me all the time 0.99

01:38:18.960 man joe exotic whoever's in his instagram account is fucking ridiculous i used to know i used to know 0.98

01:38:25.200 the person that ran i used to know the person that ran it yeah really yeah there's no way he's 0.99

01:38:30.160 running it was it a male it was a female it was okay he felt this female energy issue yeah yeah he 1.00

01:38:36.160 did too so you know on brand oh yeah he was a but he's probably the most gangster gay dude that ever 0.97

01:38:41.840 lived gangster spelled g-a-y-n-g-s-t-e-r he's a gangster yeah dude that's talking crazy oh if so you dudes 0.98

01:38:51.120 would be real scared if you're scared somebody's gonna shoot you and then make love to you and you're 0.92

01:38:54.400 not into it yeah it's gonna really spook you it gets interesting out uh yeah jesus christ what

01:38:59.520 other cool things have you turned down this year besides joe exotic at the cma yeah and joe exotic

01:39:11.440 sorry to repeat your joke man i just i repeated it too i wanted to make sure it got hurt yeah um

01:39:17.280 i don't know that was probably about the maybe one of the neatest things that came along kind of

01:39:22.080 where they were like do you want to do this but i'd already we already had a sold out show and i

01:39:26.320 just felt bad yeah and i'm glad i did the show the show was awesome you know there were some moments

01:39:31.200 where i felt bad about it it would have been fun you know i know peyton manning was there you guys

01:39:35.120 were there um so all your friends this town loves you dude i still want you to do the opry bro do it one

01:39:42.080 of the nights i'm doing it let's do the opera together let's all three do the oh we got all three to the

01:39:45.840 the opera we'll support i'll call jordan about that right now yeah yeah yeah well you know you

01:39:50.640 know they want you there you can't make my mom maybe if my i think i would my mom would probably 0.68

01:39:55.280 like to go so maybe if she's going to be yeah i would ever maybe come in for that we should do

01:39:58.640 like the grand old opera and do a night of it for real i'm not if y'all are cool i'll call jordan

01:40:02.400 about it right i could do some clean material over there you just got to keep it pretty clean

01:40:05.520 yeah yeah but i mean you just can't cuss they don't mind if it's risky yeah it can be risky

01:40:09.200 they mind about the cuss words because it's on the radio yeah it's still the actual i

01:40:13.280 i finally asked him i was like yo what's what's the real story here about the cuss and he was like

01:40:16.960 it's on the radio yeah he's like the fcc he's like it's a live radio show still to his day so

01:40:23.440 what's the actual deal here and i was like well that's no all those all those uh the people that

01:40:28.640 are the opry fans will love a little risque here i mean dude think about it he hall we were talking

01:40:33.520 about oh yeah it the grand old opry has a history of you know iffy comedy yeah for sure yeah he

01:40:40.320 hall man did you know so i was i went to see the arizona diamondbacks play a game one time and they

01:40:45.200 had um the manager his dad la rusa i think his name is no way no it's not him okay it's a diamondbacks

01:40:55.840 manager he uh yeah tory lavulo his father produced he hall really comes up to me he goes hey man

01:41:06.160 we're talking i said i live in nashville gave you the diamondback jersey yeah he gave me a cool one

01:41:10.240 it says rat king on the back um but anyway just kind of an interesting piece that his father sam

01:41:16.480 lavulo there you go was a producer for he hall that was a great show they still had the he hall stage

01:41:21.600 there i was uh yeah jamie johnson played the opry last night i did the opry last night did you yeah

01:41:26.800 me chris jansen riley green and nelly did uh for the big friends given for the big 98 here wow

01:41:33.600 perfect dude you you you work hard bro you do so much stuff jelly man i'm just so blessed to be

01:41:39.760 here though theo man you like i feel you there it's so different when i get to hang out with you and

01:41:44.480 earnest because y'all were like remember when it wasn't like this for me and it's like this is all

01:41:48.560 i wanted it to be though so like now that i'm in it like i just feel like i don't even want to

01:41:53.920 disrespect god like that kind of like i prayed for this for so many years and so many dude i i um i'm

01:42:00.320 filming a special for a television show uh cbs sunday mornings what they call it big big deal

01:42:06.480 and i they took me back to my old jail yesterday no the jail that i found out i had my daughter in 1.00

01:42:12.240 like the jail i was in when she was incarcerated they took me back to my old cell what was that

01:42:16.560 like one i've walked in there certain i wasn't going to be emotional because i walked in so happy

01:42:20.960 and in such a good mood and i and dude i walked in the unit still happy we're chatting i'm telling

01:42:25.840 them stories we walk upstairs and as soon as i walked in that cell i cried like a baby dude

01:42:31.280 i mean like i lost it completely because it was like every memory i'm getting choked up now it's

01:42:35.680 like every memory from that jail cell like every song i russman like a year and a half in that cell

01:42:41.360 dog like the hearing i had a daughter every song i wrote everything i went through and you're just

01:42:47.280 sitting there like man this is unreal dude thank you brother it's just sad it makes me sad i mean

01:42:52.160 it makes that make me sad but it makes me yeah it's powerful to think of somebody being caged up

01:42:56.640 and then being as free as you are no it's it's unreal and i walk out of there i'm getting choked

01:43:00.160 up too and i'm like i leave there and go back to my old halfway house at the men of valor i go see them

01:43:05.280 boys and it's like such a like humbling thing for me and then i go do a show with nelly and riley green

01:43:11.600 and i'm on fucking the biggest podcast on earth the next day like it's you and rogan dude you know it 0.97

01:43:16.480 you know what i'm saying it's like you know i'm just like man this is just such a just i'm so 0.68

01:43:21.840 like blessed dog and that's why i do all the give back stuff yeah it's like how could god bless me so

01:43:26.480 much of me not want to bless somebody you know what i mean yeah and i know you have a toy drive

01:43:30.480 that's going on right now that people can hit yeah any walmart middle tennessee okay they got a box right

01:43:35.040 there that you could just drop off toys at the box uh i'm gonna put a couple hundred grand up myself

01:43:39.280 we're gonna do over a hundred thousand toys it'll be the biggest one in nashville i mean just look who got

01:43:43.360 behind us dude it's crazy the predators coca-cola hasbro uh the nashville fire department walmart

01:43:49.840 has been a partner in this i mean my dream is in the next five years for this to be a national

01:43:55.040 thing that i do with walmart and we raise millions and millions of toys for uh underprivileged kids

01:44:00.960 i go in there and buy toys and put them in a box yeah yeah just drop them right in the box man yeah

01:44:05.440 just drop them right in the box and it's cool because it's convenient we're all in and out of walmart

01:44:09.280 all season you know what i mean so it's like all you got to do is just buy an extra toy and

01:44:13.120 dude going to walmart that used to be fun dude i'll tell you a story you don't mind me getting

01:44:17.440 yeah you're right huh sometimes there's nothing else to do on the road but go to my daughter

01:44:20.960 wanted to do this and she started this five six years ago at a local bar in white house tennessee

01:44:26.720 with her aunt where they would just pick them up from the bar staff and people and she'd go give 0.87

01:44:30.960 away 20 30 toys she was doing this at nine years old this was her thought and i looked back at it and

01:44:36.960 when i got out of jail

01:44:44.320 give me a second

01:44:44.880 i came home like december of

01:44:54.800 2009

01:44:55.440 i didn't have any money for toys you know in the halfway house the men of valor did a toy drive

01:45:05.040 for the for the guys that just came home and i remember dropping off a truck

01:45:09.040 of toys i couldn't afford for her christmas and uh i didn't even get to meet her at that time i

01:45:17.840 wasn't by court i wasn't even allowed to see her i just got home wow

01:45:21.600 so her heart to want to do this toy driving and me to be able to be in a situation to amplify it is

01:45:28.800 like it's really cool that is amazing 0.98

01:45:32.560 fuck i said i wasn't gonna cry today i was like i'm not gonna be fucking emotional 0.99

01:45:35.360 i've had an emotional week i got nominated for a grammy it's i'm having a fucking weird couple weeks 0.99

01:45:40.880 damn dude you only did i know he's been nominated for a gram and a grammy 0.98

01:45:48.480 to be honest i love you 0.99

01:45:52.640 that's so

01:45:53.280 and they say split one of them with yeah

01:45:59.600 oh yeah that's incredible bro but it's crazy so it's like to see this thing come to life is like

01:46:04.720 i think that's why i'm so passionate about giving back to juvenile and i'm so passionate about going

01:46:08.960 to jails and rehabs and singing for people and investing in rehab facilities and like like a

01:46:14.640 meeting with our mayor and our governor about the fentanyl epidemic and a plan and you know what i

01:46:19.440 mean it's like because these are the things that affected my life you know what i mean like the

01:46:22.480 that touches you the closest to home yeah you know what i mean so yeah we want to build a center that's

01:46:27.040 one of our goals next year is to try to find some land to build like a halfway house like i don't 1.00

01:46:31.040 know if it'd be a half house or a detox probably a place where you could also have meetings at you

01:46:34.960 know where would you do it at i don't know somewhere close enough like somewhere here let me tell you

01:46:40.960 this and i'll say this on your show publicly whatever i can do like whatever you want to do 0.69

01:46:49.040 like i don't care if we maybe we do like a string of fucking shows or something that i'll put together 0.93

01:46:53.840 and just donate the money or what like i'm into that in a way you'll never understand thanks like 0.87

01:46:58.880 if you like if nobody else like and this is what i say off camera too i'll say it to you but like 0.97

01:47:04.080 not even just on some like raise money shit like i'll cut a fucking check yeah same like i 0.96

01:47:08.400 fucking i hate people that go step just raise money you know what i mean like if you're not 0.99

01:47:12.480 that's why i tell everybody i'm don't worry i'm putting money into this toy drive like i'm gonna 0.99

01:47:15.600 write a big check because i'm not just gonna be a face of one yeah my face can help bring more

01:47:20.240 attention to us that's the only reason i even talk about this stuff we did philanthropy for years

01:47:23.760 i never spoke about it but i realized that our platform's so big that we can help bring attention

01:47:28.080 and money to the cause but it's still important to me my daddy raised me man shut the

01:47:31.760 up and cut a check you know what i mean that's just something i learned from a kid you know

01:47:36.000 yeah no it's i appreciate that man and we're going to do the same thing we want to make yeah we just

01:47:39.840 want to do something in place i can go to meetings you know where other guys can go i'd be neat where

01:47:43.680 people maybe we could do a songwriter night where songwriters come by and play play some songs with

01:47:49.200 the guys or would be something but yeah it's a big goal of mine man it's just so important i just so

01:47:54.240 many friends of mine and myself so many people in my own family just so many people struggling that's why i think

01:48:00.000 i can feel when you talk about that kind of stuff you know i know what it's like to not be caged up

01:48:04.960 like by walls but to be caged up by even just somebody's own their own life occasion by their

01:48:10.720 own feelings you know man when you're just locked inside of yourself you know can't get outside of

01:48:15.280 your own head that's the worst prison i've been to a lot of jails and the worst one on earth is between

01:48:20.960 the ears man yeah you know um let's let's check a news thing or two and then we'll get you guys out

01:48:28.480 of here we've that's the funny thing about because you just never know where it's going to get you

01:48:31.920 don't really know what's going to happen you know it's i love that's why i love them yeah because it

01:48:36.160 is just like yeah we have microphones on but this is just conversation we'd be having at coffee we

01:48:41.040 might not even get this deep over coffee that's what i like about it the move and have enough time

01:48:44.800 we'd be rushing to our next thing right that's what i think is the beauty of being friends now with

01:48:48.800 homies like having homies like theo and you that like we have crazy years where theo's rocketed into 0.95

01:48:54.080 arenas i did my first arena tour you came off a stadium tour into your first big theater tour

01:48:59.600 two nights at the rhyming you know what i mean like all these things you're still right and it's like

01:49:03.920 we don't get to talk the way we want to so we get to sit down for homies for two hours with a

01:49:08.560 microphone in front of us and it's almost like catching up yeah it's really you know what i'm saying

01:49:12.160 really cool it's like it's deeper than just like what's going on in your life it's like 0.81

01:49:16.960 the shit we do on the phone if we had time to yeah you know what i mean yeah i realized that one 0.73

01:49:21.200 time i left out of joe rogan's podcast and and he's so big he's a super busy guy you know and he 0.99

01:49:26.960 just is just his life he's built a busy life and he has a busy life he's not too busy for you he just

01:49:32.560 has a busy life and he has a lot of friends and i was like man i wish i'd have spent more of that

01:49:37.280 time when i was talking with him like because sometimes you think oh i'm on a podcast but then

01:49:41.440 sometimes you're just like catching up with a buddy you know right i was like i need to make sure

01:49:44.960 that i spend that time like catching up with a buddy because sometimes your life is busy and

01:49:49.600 that's all the time you get especially you also get older you have both you guys have children it's

01:49:53.040 like yeah there's shit going on you know it's like so yeah the time you get with people this is 0.61

01:49:58.400 important you know and even though it is on a podcast it's like it's still that's the time oh 0.95

01:50:02.400 for sure that you have i was i had cam haynes flew down here to the show last night oh did he really

01:50:06.880 yeah cam haynes we were talking about you last night he's cam haynes the aunt not the cameron haynes uh

01:50:12.320 keep hammering keep hammering oh cameron haynes yeah yeah

01:50:18.000 i love that he was like the underwear guy

01:50:22.240 cameron haynes keep hammering yeah yeah keep hammering oh that's right he said you guys were

01:50:25.680 going to see each other yeah for sure he came out here and we we spent all night together last night 0.99

01:50:30.960 at least i'm not surprised when i'm an idiot

01:50:35.040 i used to feel bad when i was a kid i got confused because i was like maybe cam has an 0.99

01:50:38.640 underwear deal i didn't know about he's still like he wrote a book i was like fuck maybe he did 0.94

01:50:42.960 do an underwear deal if he could write a book he could make some drawers listen i don't think 0.95

01:50:51.040 there's anything on earth campaigns can't do uh here's a guy that would be working on one of your

01:50:55.200 uh there's this could be working at one of your deals tennessee man arrested for dui meth while

01:51:01.920 driving a lawnmower santa's train full of kids whoa so was the dui for meth or did he get caught

01:51:11.360 with meth and a dui i mean see this is what's wrong because listen if he was drunk and had meth on him

01:51:16.320 i kind of understand yeah that's a balance of an equation i feel like he's been pretty dialed at

01:51:21.440 driving dude yeah for sure it's like i definitely not falling asleep behind the wheel we've done two

01:51:26.240 different kind of myths that's pretty sure yeah dude i think first of all this is what's wrong

01:51:30.960 with the u.s postal system i want to say that this is it that this is how they're delivering mail now

01:51:38.320 would it say uh henry mead was driving santa's train a motorized lawn mower pulling carts of children

01:51:46.800 which first of all seems like a bad idea oh they found meth first of all

01:51:51.280 narcotics and a syringe yeah i wonder what the narcotics are i hope they took pills probably

01:51:56.640 pills i hope they took the blade off that thing that's all i'm hoping officials noted that mead was

01:52:02.080 not a town employee that's what the okay yeah i can guarantee the mayor wanted to make that

01:52:06.800 it's definitely clear taswell police department responded swiftly to the incident ensuring the

01:52:11.520 safety of the attendees in the event 14 police officers jesus it was a parade it was a parade

01:52:17.600 he went to a parade with a bunch of kids driving the kids heated out on crystals

01:52:24.880 hey that's one way to do it dude oh my goodness what else we got anything else popping

01:52:31.600 that's so tennessee lord a couple terms of felony after public sex it was always a dream of mine

01:52:36.080 that shouldn't be a crime look why does she look so sad if you just fulfilled a dream 0.96

01:52:41.520 me and bunny would look the polar opposite right now we'd be on that 0.99

01:52:44.480 you guys do seem like a public sex type of earth i will say that public sex listen bunny is a wild 0.99

01:52:53.840 woman man what do you get money for christmas do you know jelly huh do you know what you'll get 0.99

01:53:00.000 her for christmas i'll get my i got something cooking for her man so we quit doing the gifts 1.00

01:53:04.160 okay a couple years ago because we realized that it was just getting stupid like as far as like you 0.76

01:53:09.520 know yeah what are you like yeah whatever you know like whatever so like now we do trips 0.82

01:53:12.960 like we'll like put our money together and be like all right this is what we would have bought

01:53:16.960 each other let's go to so we're gonna go somewhere and just spend some time together man like she is

01:53:22.800 still my favorite human to be around like we've been married almost eight years i'm sure you feel

01:53:29.520 like that about delaney but it's like when i have a free moment to hang out with somebody yeah that's

01:53:34.560 the first person i think of i'm like i wonder what my wife's doing you know what i'm saying like 0.71

01:53:38.800 she's like there's nobody in life i want to be alone with more the home than the homey yeah you

01:53:43.760 know what i'm saying like i just want to spend like every minute i can like she's like my favorite 1.00

01:53:48.320 hang she's funny yeah she's goofy she's a fucking wild bitch you know what i'm saying she's fucking 1.00

01:53:54.240 wild she's like she's she's she's the perfect woman man she's like for me so for like short we'll 0.99

01:54:00.640 probably take a trip somewhere i am gonna get her a little something just because i got it's like a real

01:54:04.320 personal thing but she's uh we're gonna probably just go out and do something like just me and her 0.95

01:54:10.400 what about you and delaney brother we're going on our first we're going to mexico oh damn

01:54:16.640 mexico i've never been to mexico other than off the fgl cruise um delaney yeah as far as gifts go 0.66

01:54:22.560 it's like she wants i think new um new forks and knives and like a dope espresso machine yeah but

01:54:29.760 that's what we call that the house gift because we'll do that too we'll be like all right what do

01:54:32.960 we need you know like we bought a fridge last year yeah that's how old and married we are i'm

01:54:36.960 like we need a new fridge yeah that's what your appliances i'm getting her countertops and like 1.00

01:54:41.040 i think we're getting 20 15 foot tall trees in the backyard yeah for sure that there merry

01:54:45.600 christmas yeah it's a christmas trees yeah she the buddy doesn't want roses she wants a rose bush 1.00

01:54:50.480 yeah you know what i'm saying it's different you know yeah what are you doing for thanksgiving i'm

01:54:54.800 gonna go what am i doing i'm going down to see uh dustin poirier does a fundraiser thing every

01:55:01.680 year they hand out hams on there in louisiana called the good fight foundation yeah um and so

01:55:07.680 i'm gonna go down there and do that and then we got a show the day after thanksgiving

01:55:11.360 at the lake uh you know where i saw my first concert at you know like really god that's all

01:55:15.840 that are you excited about that one yeah i'm pretty i am excited i know that other people i

01:55:19.760 know that a lot of my friends are excited so i think i'm almost more excited for them i think in

01:55:23.920 a weird way like just because i know they're excited is it nerve-wracking having a bunch of people you

01:55:28.480 know in the audience i think my fear is that they're gonna uh like yell out and stuff the

01:55:33.360 whole time which for music is fine but like with comedy you don't want to you know you want people

01:55:37.120 kind of just being more silent and stuff you think they just aren't going to know how to act is that

01:55:40.640 kind of where you're at well we had a show i i shot my first like i shot a comedy special in louisiana

01:55:46.240 one time and people had never been to a comedy show before they don't even have a comedy club like in

01:55:50.240 new orleans so people didn't know what to do people were like there were people in the crowd i remember

01:55:54.720 this one lady was yelling defense the whole time like yeah like she was at a football yeah like 1.00

01:56:00.960 a bunch of lsu fans yeah like people had that's the most rattling that's gotta be how do you crowd

01:56:07.360 work with that unreal and i think she even had one of those fence cutouts do you know where you are

01:56:14.720 right now oh i thought my career was over after i shot that i was like this is they have one of the 0.88

01:56:20.480 dudes with that helmet with like the two beer cans i was like what the fuck are we doing 0.99

01:56:25.600 fuck the packers 0.98

01:56:29.920 so that was kind of wild um what about thankful man what are some things maybe you guys are thankful 0.99

01:56:36.080 for and you know sometimes i make gratitude lists like in the morning you know yeah so i'm trying to

01:56:40.160 think of something just that i'm thankful for you know i'm thankful that um i'm thankful that i don't

01:56:46.320 give up on myself you know i think if that's something that i had to be thankful for you know

01:56:50.640 i'm thankful that i don't give up on myself when uh or i give up on myself less than i used to right

01:56:56.880 yeah you know that's a good one i um each day i'm more thankful for my son ryman and delaney being the

01:57:05.280 badass she is like as much as i'm gone and not able to be there i i'm thankful that i have a peace of

01:57:14.240 mind knowing that everything's good and ryman is getting the most love and attention and i get

01:57:19.440 home and he's growing and like acquiring such a cool little sense of humor and personality and it's

01:57:24.560 like i owe that to delaney because she's in there making sure that every little want and need is 0.94

01:57:30.960 taken care of and she's on her hands and knees playing trains with them and stuff and paying all

01:57:35.280 kinds of attention to them so i'm thankful for that yeah amen and trains are damn dangerous

01:57:40.160 yeah am track always train track yeah i'm out playing chicken with the train and he's playing

01:57:45.120 train the moment yeah and a guy just got arrested for driving a kid's train smoking meth yeah it's a

01:57:54.240 lot different than when we got a train work yeah i was wondering why he didn't call me back yesterday too

01:57:59.040 his phone died i'm thankful for my uh i'm thankful for my relationship with god and my higher power

01:58:09.840 it's really anchored me this year to be present because like having such a successful year it's

01:58:14.640 really like i've never been more present than where i am you know what i mean like even in this

01:58:20.080 conversation like i'm more relaxed and laid back now and just more like just being more present like

01:58:26.240 i thought i lost my phone yesterday and i realized i think i lose my phone every day now

01:58:30.160 because i'll just set it down and wherever i'm at in that moment is just where i am and then i'll go

01:58:34.800 look for the phone at the end of the day you know what i mean it's kind of where i've been out of my

01:58:38.320 life and i'm just really thankful for that i'm thankful for my family my wife of course my children but

01:58:43.200 i'm thankful for my presence because like i've been present around them but not present

01:58:47.840 man you know what i mean i want to get to that point bro i'm so bad about being present

01:58:51.760 yeah i'm i live in the future and in the past in my head so much and delaney is so good about being

01:58:59.520 in the present it's like yeah i notice how bad i am at it when i'm seeing when i'm with somebody

01:59:04.960 that's so good at it yeah that's why i think my higher power that's why i thank god because like

01:59:09.440 i truly like that's my anchor that's my meditation it's like my prayer and my ability to just be like

01:59:15.840 today i'm just gonna like i just want to be wherever i'm at today i just want to be there

01:59:20.560 yeah you know what i mean like that's all that really matters it's like right then i'm just

01:59:23.760 thankful that i haven't achieved it completely yet but i'm getting

01:59:26.880 fucking so close and it's awesome dude yeah it's a really cool feeling how do you keep that going

01:59:31.840 how do you kind of nurture that relationship with god kind of uh for you just more praying and just 0.94

01:59:37.280 more trying to clear my mind just more meditation and grounding myself like when you pray kind of

01:59:42.160 what's it like like what do you uh well you know i pray an old traditional southern baptist

01:59:47.280 prayer it's just my praying ways of course um you know i'll i'll always say the serenity prayer

01:59:54.080 every day just because that's like just so anchoring too but you know i'm an old school

01:59:58.720 guy and it's just like god i just want to thank you and i just want to ask you for the ability to

02:00:02.400 just care and love and i just want to be i want you to help me be conscious today of the way i am in

02:00:07.680 this room you know what i mean and i want to be a prepare and i want to be a like man i heard the

02:00:12.240 coolest thing the other day theo that said uh if we're searching if we think our purpose in life

02:00:17.440 is to be happy how much more narcissistic can we be our purpose in life is to be useful and so now

02:00:24.320 it's just more like man i'm a tool dude yeah you know what i mean like what can i be a man you know

02:00:28.560 where i'm getting this from yeah you know what i mean we'll talk but it's like how can i be of

02:00:32.480 service like what can i do to actually be useful to somebody today you know what i mean like and in

02:00:37.680 every little scenario like is there can i do something cool here can i like that i i believe

02:00:42.880 firmly that that spirit the day of the cmas not to get weird and hokey but i walked out of my front

02:00:48.880 yard and my boxers in a t-shirt no shoes no socks boxers now neighbors driving by waving and i put my

02:00:54.880 bare feet in my front yard grass and i just looked up at that sun and i just said a little prayer and i

02:00:59.760 just thought like you know what god i won being here like i don't care if i win an award just like help me

02:01:05.760 to open the show let me do it right let it be a moment you know what i mean just like and let me

02:01:11.360 enjoy tonight like regardless man i set my phone down at the house when i walked out i didn't have

02:01:17.280 my phone with me i didn't check my phone until the next night you know what i mean like i was present

02:01:21.840 in every situation and because of that i think when i got on that stage and seen 58 57 something inside

02:01:28.000 of me was like you thank god you thank your wife you thank your label and you say something that 0.85

02:01:32.320 fucking matters is what was going through my mind you know what i mean because that was that 0.87

02:01:36.560 presence of like i was just so grounded in the present of that moment i knew that in that moment 0.98

02:01:41.520 i wanted to thank parker mccullum i knew i wanted to tell zach bryan i thought he was the goat and i

02:01:46.000 knew i wanted to tell my wife i loved her and i knew that i wanted to say something that would at least 0.96

02:01:50.320 make a motherfucker go man he blessed me with that you know what i mean and i didn't think it would do 0.97

02:01:54.560 what it did i was up out of my seat i saw a silhouette of me just like 0.99

02:02:01.360 as you elevated i was like

02:02:05.440 i had tears in my eyes bro i was i mean the faces on the audience all around me some were like oh my

02:02:11.760 god some were like some were in tears i was literally you would have thought derrick henry just

02:02:16.960 took off for a 98 yard touchdown run i was losing my mind yeah and you were a vessel that's that's you

02:02:22.800 know being being a tool or whatever being a vessel like i think when you are that present and

02:02:29.440 that in tune nobody's more of a vessel than i think than you jelly yeah truly i think you really

02:02:34.480 do i think you inspire all so many of us man you know there's just yeah you just have a gift so i

02:02:40.480 don't even know if it's a gift but you be it's like it's not a gift that you have but it's just

02:02:44.640 it's a gift that you are right you know you feel like a gift i think to so many people you know and

02:02:50.400 you know what i love about you the same dude that could say something that eloquently just

02:02:55.200 thought cameron haynes was the underwear guy you know what i'm saying like that's what makes the

02:02:59.760 oh you know well we're retarded man a little bit i got a little bit of it yeah we all got a little 0.74

02:03:07.040 bit of it i'm i just um i'm thankful i'm thankful for both of y'all thank you for letting me come on

02:03:13.200 this with you guys you know i'm glad both y'all been great getting to know you over the last

02:03:16.960 you too man thanks for always being somebody that can make me laugh dude and uh you call me

02:03:20.720 too you check in on me every now and now well you know why because you make me laugh i was like 0.90

02:03:24.400 fuck i don't feel good i need to call somebody that's awesome you were so damn good at it i had 0.97

02:03:28.800 no choice perfect that was don't stop i was like you did not you were so good at i didn't have a 0.99

02:03:33.680 choice but like god have i let you down yeah i'm thankful for your art theo yeah like outside of our

02:03:41.040 friendship like i'm thankful for your art dude like i watch the pod like i'm a fan like i have been

02:03:44.960 that's what drew me to you is being one thing i've learned in life is never be too cool to be

02:03:48.720 a fan you know what i mean like never be too cool to be a fan and it's like i'm a fan like i can tell

02:03:54.000 you like as a brother like i think you're fucking brilliant and my cousins man my cousins uh addison 0.97

02:03:59.840 prope all the prope my prope family side they love you they were like the girl and her daughter 0.96

02:04:04.160 i saw them at breakfast yesterday yeah you just you did just see them the other day i've just seen

02:04:08.960 ernest and rhyming and delaney at breakfast i was like that's crazy yeah but uh no they told me they

02:04:13.600 they told me they loved you and i was like i said i'm gonna see ernest tomorrow like that's what he

02:04:16.400 said i was like yeah and they were like we can't believe you're going with theo and like you know

02:04:19.600 my wife i mean we all just find a lot of a lot of you bring a lot of uh a lot of smiles to people man 0.99

02:04:25.120 and it's like man in a world where smiles are so rare where there's no compassion in america right now

02:04:32.080 there's no middle ground nobody finds any calm and there's so much tension in so many ways yeah you

02:04:37.360 have found a unique way to constantly break that and make people smile and feel really good and man

02:04:43.360 that is you are a gift brother and you need to know that too you ain't heard it recently i'm sure you

02:04:48.240 hear it every day but i want you to hear it from me brother you're special man thanks dude i appreciate

02:04:52.800 it yeah i have sometimes i have a tough time feeling proud of myself you know um and that's okay some of

02:04:57.680 that's okay because you don't want your ego to get crazy you know but sometimes i do have a tough time

02:05:01.280 feeling proud of myself but um we're proud for you thank you for what it's worth i appreciate that

02:05:05.680 anyone you lack in it we're proud for you we're we were like hype thanks i gotta get you and a wife

02:05:10.480 together it's like a must yeah i know i know i've been thinking about people always asking me if

02:05:14.560 one he's gonna come on or if i'm gonna go on bunnies people ask me a lot yeah so y'all would

02:05:18.800 make it happen this year yeah she had a she had a clip go viral they kept that and the 0.81

02:05:22.720 meme was the female theo von because she said it was so funny she said that's garbage she said you 0.58

02:05:28.480 know what that is french for trash it was like such a thing you know and it was like but yeah 0.54

02:05:35.360 y'all would y'all would it would be cool i got to get y'all together i'd love for y'all to do the

02:05:38.880 pods together but yeah i think it would be fun i think it would be fun man um we'll have to do

02:05:44.160 i'll make sure that i do it with her in the new year yeah yeah that we'll do one y'all it'll be a

02:05:48.080 lot of fun um and yeah i think you know even us just sharing about some of our thoughts and stuff

02:05:51.680 about each other i think it's just like and how music is changing i think it's like there is some

02:05:56.080 evolution in the way that men communicate and feel and like you know and need you know need to be

02:06:01.440 supportive of each other you know i think i don't know why we're at in that space in a society as a

02:06:06.640 society where it's like i don't know if it's like that we used to be all like around the fire in the

02:06:11.600 woods and we were like right there for each other and like in tribes and small groups yeah and then

02:06:16.080 now it's there's but we're there's an element sometimes that's missing you know and so yeah man

02:06:21.360 today was awesome man just to be able to sit and kind of you know share and and reflect on the year

02:06:26.560 and uh and yeah and say something nice about each other you know it's important because um

02:06:32.560 people because people need to hear that stuff you know because sometimes there's something wrong

02:06:36.320 with us that we can't say it to ourselves right you know it just won't the sister the the the

02:06:42.960 the cul-de-sac is broken or something right you know for sure so um congratulations man on great

02:06:48.640 years dude and just on creating cool stuff and uh to everybody man yeah praise god man big ups

02:06:54.400 merry christmas dude merry christmas happy holidays happy holidays yeah happy holidays

02:06:59.840 y'all get y'all levels tested huh now i'm just floating on the breeze and i feel i'm falling like these

02:07:07.840 leaves i must be cornerstone oh but when i reach that ground i'll share this peace of mind i found i can

02:07:19.600 feel it in my bones but it's gonna tell you
