00:00:06.520 Let's take away all the wars between the tow truck companies themselves.
00:00:09.760 If your car gets towed or your truck gets towed right now in the GTA, you don't know where it ends up.
00:00:15.940 That sounds corrupt as well.
00:00:17.340 I remember back in the day in the 90s when you parked on the side of the road in Toronto and your truck got towed,
00:00:22.420 you walked down to the local tow truck place, the closest one.
00:00:25.020 Now it may take you up to 45 days, and then they're going to charge you a fee for holding it there.
00:00:30.000 There's a bunch of corruption going on inside of the tow truck industry that goes deeper than just you would have thought, OK, that's what we're talking about here.
00:00:36.820 But no, because Project Platinum basically police uncovered how some tow truck networks were operating as part of a broader organized crime groups.
00:00:45.080 And they weren't just competing for business.
00:00:47.740 They were using it as a cover to, you know, commit fraud, drug trafficking, contract violence.
00:00:54.360 So making them vehicles of, you know, mules, as we've referred to that before.
00:00:58.860 We witnessed that tow truck experience the other night where there was two tow trucks set on fire, then went to the suburbs with firearms where shots were fired.
00:01:11.720 It's actually now Project Platinum has defined it as the link to organized crime for fraud, drugs and violence.
