00:00:00.000 COVID is the time when I started talking about politics.
00:00:02.460 Up until COVID, I had no desire to talk politics.
00:00:04.680 All I did was business, and I would do my whiteboards.
00:00:07.900 You know how you do your whiteboards?
00:00:09.060 I would do my whiteboards, except nowadays we can do with nice little markers
00:00:13.220 where our hands don't get dirty.
00:00:14.500 I did it at the getaways back in the days where I would get paint all over my suit and ties,
00:00:18.900 and it was a hot mess.
00:00:20.620 But during COVID, you know, story comes out.
00:00:25.320 It came out from the Wuhan lab. 0.61
00:00:27.860 No, it came from the wet market.
00:00:30.000 No, China had nothing to do with it.
00:00:32.240 Yes, China had to do with Nancy Pelosi goes to Chinatown. 0.84
00:00:34.900 Stop being so racist.
00:00:36.560 Trump's like, what are you talking about? 0.87
00:00:37.480 It came from China.
00:00:39.840 What does China say about COVID with their position?
00:00:43.980 Because when the state media is telling their stories, and I'm living in Iran, and they're
00:00:47.460 saying, let me tell you, U.S. is the devil, and U.S. is this, and death upon America,
00:00:53.760 and all this other stuff, and, you know, China's a pretty controlled environment, kind of like 0.51
00:00:56.640 what you talked about earlier.
00:00:57.480 How does China state media control the narrative of what really happened with COVID?
00:01:04.420 Okay, so unfortunately, COVID has been memory hold in China.
00:01:09.360 So no one talks about it.
00:01:10.880 It was a traumatic three or four years for a Chinese society.
00:01:15.480 And people have just basically just forgotten about the experience.
00:01:18.760 No one even mentions COVID anymore.
00:01:20.460 People still get COVID, but no one mentions COVID anymore.
00:01:24.300 So all this has been memory hold.
00:01:25.840 and people would rather just move on with their lives
00:01:27.940 because there's absolutely no point in talking about it.
00:01:30.920 But the Chinese government have said on multiple occasions
00:01:34.100 that COVID started off as an American bioweapon. 0.59
00:01:38.940 And so that's what the Chinese believe, 0.70
00:01:41.320 that COVID was an American bioweapon.
00:01:43.300 It was leaked into China in order to hurt Chinese society.
00:01:48.740 And there are a lot of elite Chinese who I talked to
00:01:52.200 who believe the same thing.
00:01:53.120 so they believe it was a bioweapon released from u.s in china that's the narrative they say
00:01:59.000 and is it that's what they believe and is it tied to fauci the gain gain of function is that
00:02:05.260 kind of how they spin it or what's what's their method of you know connecting the dots
00:02:10.180 so i'll tell you what i believe happened okay and um so i believe that this was american bioweapon
00:02:18.760 funded by
00:02:20.020 Tony Fauci
00:02:21.420 Obama had put a
00:02:23.860 moratorium, a ban
00:02:25.760 on gain-of-function research
00:02:27.100 and so Fauci
00:02:30.060 subcontracted
00:02:32.520 gain-of-function research
00:02:33.660 to the Wuhan lab
00:02:35.320 which was actually
00:02:36.180 a military installation
00:02:37.240 and
00:02:38.880 I don't know if it was accidental
00:02:41.460 or deliberate
00:02:43.200 but it got released into Wuhan
00:02:45.440 and when it did get released into Wuhan
00:02:47.380 the early reporting was that this was killing a lot of people it was actually burning your lungs
00:02:52.980 it was like a furnace your lungs became a furnace so it's pretty deadly and um they locked down the
00:02:59.640 city too late and about a third of people like you know escaped into other cities as well as
00:03:06.220 border flights for europe and this spread around the world very quickly um so i think that's what
00:03:11.480 happen. But Chinese, what they believe is that this was an American bio-weapon designed to hurt
00:03:19.140 the Chinese economy. And that's a story. But they downplayed China's role in it.
00:03:26.560 Yeah, they downplayed China's role in it. And culturally, is China a culture where if the
00:03:31.760 government says that, don't question it. You don't have to take it right to question it. Just buy it.
00:03:36.720 This is what happened. Don't come back and question us because of freedom of speech.
00:03:42.140 Chinese people know where the political red lines are, and they know how the political winds are shifting.
00:03:50.420 And so there's really no questioning of the government.
00:03:57.000 What an advantage for the enemy to be able to see in America, where in America we bash each other and we're going at it.
00:04:04.980 and everything's being exposed from congressmen on the left and the right,
00:04:09.500 and nobody in the world can see what's going on with China 0.64
00:04:12.420 because no one can bring up anything.
00:04:14.640 God forbid if you do, something could happen.
00:04:16.660 I disagree.
00:04:18.680 Tell me.
00:04:19.240 If you want a healthy, creative, resilient society,
00:04:23.380 you need free and open debate.
00:04:25.460 The best thing about America is the First Amendment.
00:04:28.300 The best thing is that anyone can criticize the president.
00:04:32.260 And there's rigorous debate right now over this Iran war.
00:04:36.000 And this allows for America to pivot and to be resilient and to discover its weaknesses and to improve on its vulnerabilities.
00:04:46.560 China has been China for the past 5,000 years. 0.78
00:04:48.740 This is not a good thing.
00:04:51.260 Yeah.
00:04:51.860 No, I'm with you.
00:04:52.940 It is if a person that thinks they can have that kind of a chokehold on their people for a long time and see the enemy as debating each other, a lot of information comes in.
00:05:02.080 But if social media apps are not available in China, right, there is no Facebook, there is no YouTube, there is no X, there is no nothing like that is available in China.
00:05:11.000 There are Chinese equivalents, but yes, these Western social media platforms are banned in China.
00:05:17.000 Are there any, like, if you and I go to a dinner and, you know, if you live in California at the peak of COVID,
00:05:25.500 you have to be very careful if you were a Trump supporter, a lot of people would say.
00:05:28.400 But there were parties you would go to, to houses like, hey, man, me too.
00:05:31.920 Hey, me too.
00:05:32.600 But God, if you wore MAGA hat in 2017 in California, go walk through the mall and see what happens to you.
00:05:38.400 It's a very different climate than today, right?
00:05:40.780 Are there small pockets of people in China, small communities that are growing, that they're criticizing the government, or none of that exists?
00:05:50.740 None of that exists in China.
00:05:52.120 Okay.
00:05:52.960 All right.
00:05:53.420 And I don't think you agree with that.
00:05:54.640 Well, no.
00:05:56.440 I mean, the reason is that China has developed an AI surveillance state that is the most advanced in the world, right?
00:06:01.420 So China has digital ID and digital currency.
00:06:04.180 And so with that, everything you do online can be monitored, right?
00:06:08.480 And so when you use your mobile phone, it's a – like all your app is on your phone.
00:06:15.680 So the government knows exactly where you go, what you buy, who you hang out with.
00:06:20.920 And from that, from this data, they can do a microanalysis of your political leanings and then influence you in a certain way.
00:06:29.620 So China has developed the first AI surveillance state.
00:06:33.660 Interesting. Interesting.
00:06:34.920 Yeah, you know, you just reminded me of a story.
00:06:37.520 When I made a handful of videos criticizing China and I brought a General Spalding who went very hardcore at China, got millions of views all over the place, and he was revealing some things about China.
00:06:49.860 So it was about six months of going after China pretty hardcore. 0.88
00:06:53.040 One day I get an email from a PR firm saying somebody from China wants to invite you to an event.
00:06:58.680 It's a charity event.
00:07:00.280 I said, okay, so let's do the Zoom.
00:07:02.440 So I got on the call.
00:07:04.060 It's me, Mario, another guy named Gerard.
00:07:06.220 and we get on the Zoom and we said, so what's the outcome?
00:07:08.920 They want to pay you $600,000.
00:07:11.340 I have this email till today, documented.
00:07:13.640 They want to pay you $600,000,
00:07:16.040 but they want you to give a $300,000 check to XYZ Charity.
00:07:21.020 So you get to keep $300,000,
00:07:23.200 but you give the $300,000 to the charity,
00:07:25.720 we'll take care of your hotel, food, flight, everything,
00:07:27.980 don't worry about it, and we'll give you $300,000.
00:07:30.900 Of course, my answer was no.
00:07:32.900 So, but why would China do something like that?
00:07:37.000 Why would they want somebody like me to come in to get $600,000 and donate $300,000 to a charity?
00:07:44.100 Right, so the Chinese approach to soft power is co-opting elites, right? 0.87
00:07:50.800 So in China, the elites have all the power, the people have no power. 0.71
00:07:53.760 And they assume that's just how the world works.
00:07:57.580 So if I'm going to spend money on soft power, that basically means I bribe influential media elite such as yourself, such as Tom Friedman.
00:08:07.580 So Tom Friedman has visited China quite a lot, and he said very nice things about China.
00:08:12.340 And quite honestly, this works, right?
00:08:14.320 Because if you come over to China, they treat you very well.
00:08:17.380 It's great food.
00:08:18.680 The people are very friendly.
00:08:21.020 They show you the best aspects of China.
00:08:23.480 And you leave a very good feeling in your heart.
00:08:26.520 So Chinese are very good at co-opting individuals,
00:08:29.760 and they only focus on individuals who have tremendous influence in the world,
00:08:35.500 such as yourself.
00:08:36.780 It's a brilliant strategy.
00:08:38.280 If you're able to succeed with it and people can come back
00:08:40.800 and be complimentary about it, you know, that's what you want,
00:08:43.880 especially in the enemy state.
00:08:44.880 You know, this whole thing with Vali Timmon and PPD podcast
00:08:46.600 started with a phone, me and Mario.
00:08:48.040 That's it.
00:08:48.780 And it grew today to, you know, 15 million subscribers almost
00:08:52.100 and 164 full-time employees.
00:08:53.760 and that relationship,
00:08:55.280 or you watching us and supporting us
00:08:56.660 wouldn't happen without you.
00:08:58.060 But did you know 51% of you that watch the content
00:09:00.940 are not subscribed to the channel?
00:09:02.800 And it would mean the world to us
00:09:04.260 if you could press that subscribe button
