A Canadian couple is suing the surrogate who carried their now 2-year-old son after she refused their request to terminate the pregnancy over a cleft lip and possible minor heart defect. The lawsuit filed in Ontario Superior Court in May alleges the surrogate failed to keep the parents adequately informed, endangered the child, violated confidentiality, and caused emotional distress.
00:03:16.360But the moment that new life is created
00:03:18.680it's no longer subject to a contract okay that child that you're doing this and your sperm and0.98
00:03:25.100his sperm and a woman that belongs to god now and you already know where i stand pat every child is
00:03:30.540made every one of us every child is made the image of god a cliff lip doesn't erase that okay it
00:03:36.820doesn't reduce the child's value it does doesn't justify murdering this thing because oh the the
00:03:42.460the the dynamics of the kid are not the way that i want it since when did a birth defect become
00:03:47.720something to it like you get to live or die it starts with a cleft lip and then you know next
00:03:51.960is down syndrome next is something oh his foot is different i don't like it they're not custom
00:03:56.600orders this isn't freaking amazon this isn't build-a-bear okay they're not products that
00:04:01.480can be rejected pat thank god thank god and i'm assuming hopefully she's a christian she stood up
00:04:07.400and she had the courage to stand on her convictions and say no okay and because of her that little boy
00:04:13.320alive today and and i think murder shouldn't be an option murder should not be an option okay
00:04:19.360god doesn't give any of us anything that we can't handle okay and there's surgeries that you can do
00:04:24.180i i've seen multiple multiple uh websites with doctors that they can fix they could try to help
00:04:30.560uh that cleft lip pat and that's why we have to fight and again going back to the role role versus
00:04:35.920wade uh you know dobs and all that stuff if it's not us fighting for these children pat who's going
00:04:41.360to do it they can't speak for themselves they can't do it we have to defend them tom what do
00:04:45.780you have with this um well let me give you some some names here jesse jackson uh rumored winston
00:04:55.340churchill lee raymond who is the chairman and ceo of um exxon that built it in the largest
00:05:00.800in the largest most profitable company in the world at the time they all were born with cleft
00:05:05.200lips you may not agree with jesse jackson or agree with lee raymond the industrialist and the
00:05:10.660The Winston Churchill thing is a little bit disputed, but what if we just started erasing people from history or never having them at all?
00:05:17.680Because when a baby is born, it's snuffed out because it's deemed to be not perfect.
00:05:22.120Look at the people over time that we wouldn't have had.
00:05:25.000By the way, the scans of the sarcophagus seem to indicate that King Tut possibly not only had a cleft lip, but a full cleft palate.
00:05:33.180And so if you want to just go for surrogacy and then eliminate people with even the most minor of the defects, you are missing the opportunity to see how that person grows up under the leadership of loving parents who want the child and maybe overcomes the deficiency or a thing like this to just be an absolute beacon to the rest of us.
00:06:02.260on the absolute amazing human spirit of achievement
