00:00:00.280 I'm going to make a case to you today why I believe firing the bottom 10% of every single
00:00:04.440 industry, not just company, every single industry, military, cops, teachers, firefighters,
00:00:10.520 realtors, loan officers, Amazon, Walmart, it doesn't matter what it is if you fire the
00:00:15.240 bottom 10% of every single industry, the economy will get better and people will actually be
00:00:20.120 more fulfilled and happy.
00:00:21.120 Let me make my argument to you why I believe that's the case.
00:00:23.480 Watch this.
00:00:24.480 You ever been in a relationship where, say you're dating somebody for two years and you're
00:00:28.000 like, this is not going to go anywhere.
00:00:30.120 I'm not going to marry this person.
00:00:31.600 We're not going to be together for 10 years, but we're so comfortable.
00:00:35.080 And I'm scared to call the breakup.
00:00:37.180 I'm scared to break up with her, right?
00:00:38.560 I'm scared to break up with them.
00:00:41.080 And then one day you get that random text or the phone call, you know what the phone call
00:00:45.320 is, what text that is, right?
00:00:46.320 It's like, Hey, we need to talk.
00:00:48.240 You're like, what do you mean?
00:00:49.240 We need to talk.
00:00:50.240 What are you doing later on tonight?
00:00:51.240 We need to talk.
00:00:52.240 And you're like, okay, cool.
00:00:53.240 We can talk.
00:00:54.240 So you go meet her and, or he meets you and says, you know, you have to realize,
00:00:57.440 baby, I love you so much.
00:00:58.440 And you already know where this is going.
00:01:00.260 It's been the last, one of my best two years of my life, but I just don't think this is
00:01:04.560 going anywhere.
00:01:06.560 And it's not you, honestly, it's me.
00:01:08.840 It's not, it's not you at all.
00:01:09.960 It's totally me.
00:01:10.960 And I, I just think, I just think we have to go our separate ways.
00:01:13.880 I don't, I don't know if I strengthen you and I don't know if you're happy being with
00:01:16.900 me, but no, I want to be with, you know, the whole, you know, understand you, okay.
00:01:21.220 So if you know what I'm talking about, and then six months later, you're like, man,
00:01:24.280 I'm so glad he broke up with me.
00:01:26.280 It was so great.
00:01:27.280 I couldn't do it.
00:01:28.280 I'm glad he did it.
00:01:29.280 I'm so glad she broke up with me.
00:01:30.280 I couldn't do it.
00:01:31.280 She did.
00:01:32.280 I'm so glad she did.
00:01:33.280 Let me go back to the firing part.
00:01:34.280 You know what happens when you fire some people from their job or sometimes department?
00:01:36.280 Like I had a guy that was working with a department with us for four and a half years.
00:01:40.280 I'm sitting there every day.
00:01:42.280 I would ask his director, why do we have him here?
00:01:45.280 He sucks at his job.
00:01:48.280 We finally fired him from that job.
00:01:50.280 We moved him over.
00:01:51.280 He made four times the money he was making at that job when he simply got fired from that
00:01:56.280 job and went to a different place.
00:01:58.280 You fire a cop.
00:01:59.280 There are a lot of people that are cops or teachers because their parents were cops because
00:02:03.280 traditionally they want to be cops or traditionally they want to be in, you know, whatever job it
00:02:07.280 is, but they don't want to do that.
00:02:09.280 They're just doing it because of somebody else.
00:02:10.280 They're being a cop because their friends are cops.
00:02:12.280 They're doing whatever because of somebody else.
00:02:14.280 And then all of a sudden they're like no longer a cop anymore, no longer a teacher anymore.
00:02:18.280 And you sit there and you say, what should I do now?
00:02:20.280 That cop becomes a realtor.
00:02:21.280 He excels, goes and wins at the highest level.
00:02:23.280 And he's like, man, I'm so glad the fire department, the police department fired me.
00:02:27.280 You know, man, I'm so glad being a teacher.
00:02:29.280 I was not a good teacher, man.
00:02:30.280 I can't believe I was a teacher.
00:02:32.280 I'm terrible as a teacher, but man, I make one hell of a cop.
00:02:36.280 Do you see the difference there?
00:02:37.280 Man, I got to tell you, I was a terrible coach.
00:02:40.280 But man, I make such a good project manager when it comes down to IT.
00:02:45.280 I love what I'm doing right now.
00:02:47.280 So this isn't the concept of firing people like you're fired.
00:02:51.280 This isn't that, like you're fired.
00:02:53.280 This is the whole idea of how many people today are in positions that is not the position for them.
00:03:00.280 You make one shift to a different department, they excel just because their current position doesn't bring out their strengths that they have.
00:03:09.280 You can make one shift, give them a better opportunity in a different place, or simply fire everybody.
00:03:14.280 Because some people just are not good at their job.
00:03:16.280 Teachers, I don't believe all teachers are good teachers.
00:03:19.280 I think there's a bottom 10% of teachers should be fired for them to realize, man, I can't do this anymore, and let them go do something else.
00:03:26.280 By the way, here's one other thing to be thinking about.
00:03:28.280 If we fire the bottom 10% every year, guess what people don't want to be in?
00:03:31.280 They don't want to be in the bottom 10%.
00:03:33.280 So they fire to be in the top 50%.
00:03:35.280 That means they may have been at 70%, and they go up in the 50%, and they move up because they don't want to get fired.
00:03:42.280 So it even makes people offer better customer service, better service, better effort, improving, get better with people in every possible way because they know.
00:03:50.280 When December 31st comes, the bottom 10% is getting fired, and you do not want to be in the bottom 10%.
00:03:56.280 FYI, I'm very aware that about 10% of you are not going to like this video.
00:04:00.280 Hence, you're the bottom 10%.
00:04:02.280 This is unfair.
00:04:03.280 Why Patrick's like such and such.
00:04:05.280 All he wants to do is fire people.
00:04:07.280 Let's fire Pat and unsubscribe.
00:04:10.280 I get it.
00:04:11.280 By the way, you ought to fire some of the channels you're subscribed to.
00:04:15.280 You ought to fire some of the people you follow.
00:04:18.280 There's a firing going on in friends and people you hang out with every year.
00:04:23.280 Every year this ought to be taking place to allow new things to grow within your life and new people to grow within different industries.
00:04:34.280 I'm not expecting 100% of you guys to like this.
00:04:36.280 Matter of fact, I think for every 100 of you that puts a thumbs up, I think 10 of you is going to put a thumbs down.
00:04:41.280 So if you don't like it, put a thumbs down.
00:04:42.280 If you like it, put a thumbs up.
00:04:43.280 And whether you love it, press the subscribe button if you haven't already.
00:04:47.280 But I've got another video for you.
00:04:49.280 I did a video years ago titled, How to Fire Someone.
00:04:52.280 You may agree with it.
00:04:53.280 You may not agree with it.
00:04:54.280 Matter of fact, I may even watch it.
00:04:55.280 I may not agree up to the points that I did when I did that because I've changed the way I fire people.
00:04:59.280 But I want you to watch this video.
00:05:00.280 I think there's a couple of points in it that you're going to like from How to Fire Someone.
00:05:04.280 If you've never watched this, click over here to watch the video on How to Fire Someone.
00:05:08.280 Take care, everybody.
00:05:09.280 Have a great week.
