Valuetainment - Will Musk & Rogan Cause a California Exodus？

00:00:00.000 I'm Patrick Medivy, host of Valuetainment, and today we're going to talk about this

00:00:25.440 exodus of California. Rogan going to Texas, Musk building the new truck in Austin, Texas,

00:00:32.100 is a California exodus around the corner. Big news this week, Elon Musk just announced that he's

00:00:37.900 building a $1 billion plant in Austin to add 5,000 new jobs to the city and the state of Texas.

00:00:45.360 This was announced recently. Here's an article from CNBC saying Elon Musk chose freedoms Texas

00:00:51.220 offers for new Tesla factory, says state's GOP governor, which is Governor Abedin. Let me tell

00:00:56.220 you why this is so important and a very big difference between a person like Elon Musk saying

00:01:01.920 no to California with the challenges he was having where he was getting shut down to say,

00:01:07.680 you cannot open your plant. And he comes out and he says, I'm opening up my plant because I believe

00:01:11.760 I'm essential. And then he chooses Texas. Why is this so important for everybody that's living in

00:01:17.200 California and everywhere else? Here's why. Let me give you an example of what happened in 2016,

00:01:22.080 2017. In 2016, 2017, Carl Icahn, legendary billionaire, left New York to move his office

00:01:32.700 and his business to Florida. Why? Because that's just, he's going to save money on taxes. This is

00:01:38.700 because New York is way too high. Then Leon Cooperman, which many of you probably have never heard of,

00:01:44.480 he had a feud with Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, and he also left Jersey to go to Florida.

00:01:50.960 And David Tepper, who probably you've never heard of, also another billionaire, hedge fund billionaire,

00:01:55.860 left Jersey for where Florida? And Paul Tudor Jones II, which you've probably never heard of,

00:02:01.560 who's a billionaire worth $5.1 billion, left Connecticut to Florida. And Eddie Lampert,

00:02:08.100 probably somebody you haven't heard of, left Connecticut to Florida in 2012. And Barry Sternlake,

00:02:14.260 left Connecticut to Florida in 2016. Now, why am I keep saying, you probably haven't heard of,

00:02:20.560 you probably haven't heard of, you probably haven't heard of. The point I'm trying to make

00:02:24.340 to you is the following point here. See, Joe Rogan was just asked yesterday by, it's Joe,

00:02:29.160 I believe Joe, the son, I asked him, watch this here.

00:02:33.240 Joe Rogan, are you moving? I'm out of here.

00:02:35.200 When do you leave? Soon.

00:02:37.280 Texas or? Yeah, I'm going to go to Texas.

00:02:39.540 I got it.

00:02:40.240 I'm moving to Texas. So now let me get this straight. Joe Rogan announces he's going to

00:02:45.720 Texas. This guy runs the number one podcast. Okay, he's moving to Texas. Elon Musk announces he's

00:02:50.640 building a billion dollar plant in Texas and tells California you're annoying to deal with,

00:02:55.740 but I'm still going to stay with you a little bit, but long-term plans, I'm looking at Texas.

00:02:59.700 What is the biggest difference between a Joe Rogan saying he's moving to Texas, between

00:03:04.180 Elon Musk saying he's moving to Texas, and all these billionaires, Carl Icahn, Leon Cooperman,

00:03:09.620 David Tepper, Paul Tudor Jones, Eddie Lambert, Barry Sternlich, what is the difference between

00:03:14.760 these two guys saying they're moving, and the other names? You ready? Here's why.

00:03:18.900 When I moved to the States, we moved to Glendale, California. If you know anything about Glendale,

00:03:24.940 California, Armenians are all over Glendale, California. Why? 1.00

00:03:29.700 When you look at the Assyrian community, it's a very small community. I'm half Armenian,

00:03:34.160 half Assyrian. Many Assyrians live either in Detroit, or they live in Torlach, San Jose,

00:03:39.640 Northern California. Why? When you look at a lot of Persians, they live near Santa Monica and Beverly 1.00

00:03:46.800 Hills. Why? You can go look at Italians. They live in New York. You can go look at Irish. Why though? 1.00

00:03:54.400 You got to ask that critical question of why. Here's why. This is how it works.

00:03:58.740 Armenians didn't want just, one day just wake up and say, Glendale's got the perfect climate for us

00:04:03.340 to move to. Assyrians didn't just say, Torlach's the place to go to, because it's the perfect place 1.00

00:04:08.720 for Assyrians. Let's go to Detroit. That's what we're going to, Italians, New York's the place for us.

00:04:13.280 Let's go to New York. Cubans, we got the moment an influential person who's got a big mouthpiece, 1.00

00:04:19.800 leaves, everybody follows. Let me say this one more time. When the first influential Armenian 1.00

00:04:26.320 moved to Glendale, everybody else said, Armen moved to Glendale, we're all moving to Glendale,

00:04:31.840 who were coming from Iran, who were coming from Russia, who were coming from Lebanon. It doesn't

00:04:35.780 matter. Because of an influential person left to Glendale, we're going to. Because an influential

00:04:41.260 Italian moved to New York, we're going to. Because you can go look at Asians, Italians, Irish, Mexicans, 1.00

00:04:48.320 Puerto Rican, it doesn't matter. There's a massive Puerto Rican community in Orlando. Why Orlando? 0.99

00:04:53.920 Because an influential one went first. If California doesn't get their act together,

00:05:00.920 when a mouthpiece like Elon Musk, or a mouthpiece like Joe Rogan, with the level of influence that

00:05:07.940 they have. Here's Elon Musk's Twitter account. Let me just show this to you. He's got 37.1 million

00:05:13.200 followers. When he sends a tweet, he gets 592,000 likes. When he sends a tweet, people follow what

00:05:20.940 this man is saying. When you got that kind of an influence, and you say no to Texas, and you go to

00:05:27.520 a different place, guess what happens? Other people listen. And that gradually leads to an exodus. If

00:05:35.840 California doesn't get their act together, and think, just because the weather is so great,

00:05:42.700 people are eventually going to be naive enough to stay. And here's the thing. Don't get me wrong,

00:05:46.420 California, and Governor Newsom, and Garcetti, and all these other guys. You're going to keep the

00:05:50.920 people that are tied because they're family. You're going to keep the people that are emotionally

00:05:54.600 connected to the people there. You're going to keep the people that are just kind of like,

00:05:57.760 you know what, I'm okay. It's not terrible, but I figured out. You're going to get the people

00:06:01.760 that have been sabotaged to think it's the best place to be. But you're going to lose your critical

00:06:06.020 thinkers and job creators and mouthpieces eventually. And then one day you're going to wake up and say,

00:06:11.460 I thought you guys loved the beach. I thought you loved the weather here. What happened?

00:06:15.740 And people are going to say, wait a minute. If I look at the US map, and I look at what the US map

00:06:20.360 offers to me, you know, I can definitely go, if I want, I can definitely go, let me see some of these

00:06:28.380 places. I can go to Florida. They don't offer any taxes. I can go to, I can go to a different place.

00:06:35.060 I can go to Nevada. I can go to Tennessee. They don't offer any taxes in Tennessee. And Tennessee's

00:06:41.180 coming up. What if I go to a great city like Nashville? What if, what if I go to Fort Lauderdale?

00:06:45.620 What if I go to Orlando? What if I go to Tampa? That's coming up. Didn't Brady just go there?

00:06:49.520 What if I go to Houston? What if I go to Austin? What if I go to San Antonio? What if I go to Nevada?

00:06:54.160 What if I go to some of these places? And gradually, this beautiful state that I love,

00:06:59.620 lived 24 years in that state, is going to take a hit. So will New York. So will Illinois.

00:07:05.180 If they don't realize that you cannot push your business owners, your job creators, and your

00:07:12.880 influencers out. When Tiger Woods decided to move his family to Jupiter, and live in Florida, Jupiter.

00:07:19.520 It's a nice little island. I was there last week. When they decide to move, it's not a big deal.

00:07:24.160 Why? Because Tiger doesn't go out there sharing his opinion and saying what people ought to

00:07:27.600 be doing. But when an Elon Musk, that is not afraid of telling people his opinion, or when

00:07:33.040 a Joe Rogan, who runs a number one podcast, goes out there and does a move like that, you

00:07:37.220 better believe a lot of people are going to sit there saying, babe, did you hear about

00:07:40.040 it? Did you hear about it, babe? I did. Maybe it's time for us. What do you think? I don't

00:07:45.280 know, babe. I think it's starting to make a lot of sense. Maybe you ought to be thinking about

00:07:48.060 it. So yes, this is a very big news of Elon Musk deciding to build a billion dollar plant

00:07:54.500 in Austin, because it is a statement that's being made on how California handled the pandemic,

00:08:00.400 and how they treated their business owners, and they're eventually going to push the job

00:08:05.500 creators, the creative people to say, I just can't do it here anymore. And we're starting

00:08:09.720 to see a glimpse of it with Elon Musk.
