00:01:16.960 that Joe Biden was a much greater threat to democracy than Donald Trump.

00:03:01.140 Fox News kind of broke it, and they said Americans now need an annual salary of at least $110,000
00:03:09.320 to afford a medium-price home.
00:03:11.720 That is up from about $74,000 in 2020.
00:03:16.560 That is staggering.
00:03:18.640 Yeah, it's a dramatic shift, and this is Bidenomics is hurting Americans across this country,
00:03:25.280 and it's hurting virtually everyone.

00:03:28.200 Seniors are getting hammered by Bidenomics because inflation is driving up the cost of living,
00:03:33.320 the cost of everything they're spending, and yet they're on a fixed income.

00:04:06.140 where inflation hasn't existed, and suddenly people buying their first home,
00:04:10.760 or for that matter, their second or third or fourth home as they progress in life,
00:04:14.600 are discovering that the home they used to be able to get at a 2.5% interest rate,
00:04:21.280 now they can get half as much home at a 7% interest rate.
00:04:26.540 And that is meaning a lot of people are not able to buy homes.
00:04:30.780 They're locked into whatever home they're at because they need the interest rates low,
00:04:34.880 and those rates are locked in.
00:04:36.160 Although if they have an adjustable rate mortgage, a number of those are headed towards expiring,
00:04:40.760 which is putting people at a fiscal cliff.
00:04:42.580 But they're also finding if it's your first home, a whole lot of people just homeownership is beyond their reach.
00:04:51.380 And the median price home, look, it's worth refreshing some basic math.
00:04:57.960 There are a number of different ways to think of averages.
00:05:00.640 There's the mean, which is the average.
00:05:02.560 You take all the different prices and you average them together.
00:05:07.580 And the average price is if there's one that's $100 million and a bunch that are lower,
00:05:13.260 the average will rise higher because of the one.
00:05:15.980 The median is a very different measure.
00:05:18.600 It's not the average price, but it's rather the middle price, the midpoint price.
00:05:24.300 So the median price means half the prices are higher and half the prices are lower.
00:05:31.060 So it's identifying the highest point on the bell curve.
00:05:35.220 And what is striking, and we're going to play right now what Fox News said about this,
00:05:39.700 the median priced home is now significantly above the median salary.
00:05:46.460 And that is meaning for many Americans, homeownership, particularly if you don't have a home already,
00:05:51.580 is being priced out of reach by Joe Biden.
00:05:55.240 The average home buyer needs to make over $110,000 to afford the average home.
00:06:00.380 A new bank rate study showing that the required salary to make that purchase has jumped 46% in just four years.
00:06:08.580 Home buyers only needed to make $76,000 back in 2020.
00:06:12.920 And the issue, widespread.
00:06:14.600 You now need a six-figure salary to buy the average home in 23 states, including the District of Columbia.
00:06:20.860 Four years ago, that number was just six.
00:06:24.020 Mortgage rates, of course, have played a small role in the bump,
00:06:26.720 but home prices have, by and large, kept pace with the needed salary to buy them.
00:06:31.700 The average home up 42%, sitting at $412,000.
00:06:36.700 Now, even though the housing market may be pricing people out,
00:06:39.840 people shouldn't be too quick to think that renting is the solution.
00:06:43.920 Since President Biden took office, rents are up nearly 21%.
00:06:48.280 You look at the rent numbers there, and let's just go through some of those data points real quick, Senator.
00:06:53.920 You look at your salary, and if you look at your salary,
00:06:58.280 January 2020, they said you need $75,939 to afford the median price home.
00:07:05.740 Now, you need $110,871.
00:07:09.260 That is a 46% increase.
00:07:11.560 Ask the average American if they've received a 46% raise in the last four years.
00:07:15.780 The answer is going to be no.
00:07:17.820 Well, that's exactly right, and, you know, 46% is a stunning number
00:07:22.660 because Joe Biden has been president barely a little bit over three years,
00:07:28.640 three years and three months.
00:07:30.160 That's not very long.
00:07:31.960 Three years and three months to have home prices go up 46%.
00:07:35.360 That is a massive impact on people trying to purchase a home.
00:07:40.560 And listen, $76,000 is a lot of money.
00:07:45.780 That is, but comparatively, going from $76,000 to $111,000 in three and a half,
00:07:54.480 less than three and a half years,
00:07:55.960 that is the very real impact of Joe Biden and the Democrats
00:08:00.060 printing trillions of dollars we don't have,

00:08:12.940 and just, again, it's a perspective issue here.

00:08:24.320 Now this is spread nationwide,
00:08:25.880 23 different states plus the District of Columbia.
00:08:29.540 You've got to make now more than six figures plus
00:08:33.020 to afford home ownership.
00:08:36.440 That is Bidenomics hitting everybody across this country.
00:08:40.120 Well, and Ben, you know who doesn't care about this?
00:08:43.240 Democrats.
00:08:44.220 So one of the most important political shifts,
00:08:47.240 it used to be conventional wisdom
00:08:49.120 that Republicans are the party of the rich
00:08:51.240 and Democrats are the party of the poor and working class.
00:08:54.200 That's been turned on its head.
00:08:56.200 I think the most significant political shift
00:08:58.300 of the last decade is today,
00:09:00.880 Democrats are the party of the rich.
00:09:02.240 So if you talk to Democrats,
00:09:03.640 I don't know a Democrat senator who cares about this
00:09:06.540 because, frankly, who are they listening to?
00:09:09.100 They're listening to big tech billionaires.
00:09:12.080 They're listening to the super wealthy lawyers
00:09:17.120 and Hollywood producers.
00:09:20.100 They are the hedge fund party.
00:09:23.040 That is the Democrats today.
00:09:25.720 And you know who they're not the party of anymore?
00:09:29.400 Steelworkers, truck drivers, cops, firefighters,
00:09:34.620 teachers, waiters, waitresses, working men and women.
00:09:40.280 The Democrat Party has abandoned.
00:09:42.860 They've left behind.
00:09:44.160 And so the people that are getting hammered by this,
00:09:46.800 and by the way, young people,
00:09:48.460 and Democrats want to convince young people,
00:09:50.580 hey, we're all for you
00:09:51.620 because we're just going to focus on social issues.
00:09:55.020 And listen, if you're young,
00:09:56.620 the Democrats tell you
00:09:57.420 the only thing you should care about is transgenderism.
00:09:59.960 Apparently, it is the most important issue on planet Earth,
00:10:03.080 not a homicidal Ayatollah trying to murder us,
00:10:06.520 not an invasion at our southern border,
00:10:08.980 not the fentanyl crisis and the drug overdoses.
00:10:11.940 None of those are the problem.
00:10:13.080 And transgenderism is the issue
00:10:15.140 that you as a young person should care about intensely.

00:10:19.860 There are a lot of young people,
00:10:21.000 like maybe you're in college and you buy that nonsense,
00:10:23.600 but then you get out of school and you're like,
00:10:26.820 wait a second, I got to pay for an apartment?

00:10:31.940 I can't afford rent.
00:10:33.100 And by the way, look,
00:10:34.600 that Fox News story was really striking.
00:10:36.480 If people can't afford to buy a home
00:10:38.480 and they can't afford to rent,
00:10:40.540 well, that's kind of a problem.
00:10:41.880 What are they supposed to do?
00:10:43.140 What's the alternative to those two things?
00:10:45.900 And it is the working men and women
00:10:47.640 who Bidenomics is leaving behind in the dust.
00:10:51.260 Yeah, 20% plus rent rates are up on average nationwide.
00:10:56.340 Well, I've never said this before, Senator,
00:10:58.120 but the Fox News story that we played
00:11:00.500 was actually the best way of presenting the problem.
00:11:05.680 Yahoo Finance came out and said,
00:11:07.860 it's actually worse than the way they reported on Fox.
00:11:12.200 Here is what they said when it came to homebuyers.
00:11:15.220 They actually said, in reality,
00:11:18.220 homebuyers need to earn 80% more
00:11:21.060 than they did in 2020 to afford a home in today's market.
00:11:24.920 If you're looking at overall home prices,
00:11:27.420 listen to this from Yahoo Finance.
00:11:29.200 Many Americans, home ownership is seeming more
00:11:31.800 and more out of reach.
00:11:33.180 According to new analysis from Zillow,
00:11:35.740 home prices have jumped 42% since 2020,
00:11:39.100 but the average person needs to earn 80% more
00:11:42.680 than they did at that time
00:11:44.220 in order to comfortably afford a home in today's market.
00:11:47.900 Senator, it's interesting how they looked at this.
00:11:50.640 They're saying there are different ways to look at it.
00:11:53.380 They look at it as the issue of,
00:11:55.400 can you comfortably afford a home in today's market?
00:11:58.640 To comfortably afford a home in today's market,
00:12:01.220 they say you need to earn 80% more than you did in 2020
00:12:05.640 because of the skyrocketing cost of the home,
00:12:08.900 interest rates, inflation, everything else.
00:12:10.780 So they're saying, hey, it's even worse
00:12:13.060 than what the best case scenario data shows you here.
00:12:16.420 And they said, quote,
00:12:17.300 today those shopping for a home need to earn $106,000 annually
00:12:20.500 to afford a median price home.
00:12:22.220 But this is the part that you don't understand.
00:12:25.500 The cost of insurance, the cost of heating,
00:12:28.680 the cost of everything when you own a home
00:12:31.800 has gone up so much more
00:12:33.960 that you need to earn 80% more than you did in 2020.
00:12:37.820 Well, that's right.
00:12:39.720 And it's striking.
00:12:40.660 It makes you ask, why would the Democrats be doing this?
00:12:44.680 Listen, the classic question in any election is,
00:12:47.340 are you better off now than you were four years ago?
00:12:49.980 And for the overwhelming majority of Americans,
00:12:52.920 the answer to that is hell no.
00:12:54.840 That under Joe Biden, people who are working class,
00:12:59.260 people who are seniors, people who are young,
00:13:01.900 people who are struggling, people who are getting started,
00:13:03.880 people who want to buy a home, people who want to rent,
00:13:06.140 all of them, their life has gotten much harder.
00:13:08.600 And, you know, it reminds me of what we talked about
00:13:10.820 two days ago on Monday's pod,
00:13:12.640 which is California this week on Monday
00:13:17.340 imposed a new $20 minimum wage
00:13:20.000 for fast food restaurants with more than 60 stores.
00:13:25.900 Now, one of the things that's striking,
00:13:28.380 California exempted Panera Breads,
00:13:31.020 which just happens to be owned by a very close friend
00:13:34.300 of the governor, Gavin Newsom.
00:13:35.940 So it's a classic example of Democrats, you know, cronyism,
00:13:39.620 that they will give special gifts to their buddies
00:13:42.460 who happen to be big campaign contributors,
00:13:44.760 and everyone else has different rules.
00:13:47.260 But what we saw this week is thousands and thousands
00:13:50.760 and thousands of Californians being laid off
00:13:53.220 because of this new law imposed by the Democrats.
00:13:57.120 Just Pizza Hut, there were over 1,200 people laid off.
00:14:00.120 And, you know, last night I was having dinner
00:14:01.920 with a number of friends and they were asking,
00:14:04.640 why would the Democrats do this?
00:14:07.140 Wouldn't they understand?
00:14:08.480 Wouldn't people in California get pissed off?
00:14:11.660 And what I told them then,
00:14:13.440 and this is actually highly relevant
00:14:15.220 to the home ownership question,
00:14:17.900 what I told my friends who were having dinner is I said,
00:14:20.100 listen, they're making a gamble
00:14:23.000 that enough of the voters will not understand
00:14:27.780 who is to blame.
00:14:29.520 So there are over 500,000 fast food employees in California.
00:14:34.580 A bunch of them will get a pay raise.
00:14:36.040 The ones that don't get laid off,
00:14:37.840 the ones whose employers don't go bankrupt
00:14:39.980 and go out of business,
00:14:41.340 the rest of them will get a pay raise.
00:14:42.880 By the way, the people that get a pay raise
00:14:44.240 are likely the ones that are more highly skilled.
00:14:46.500 The ones who will lose their jobs
00:14:48.220 are likely, more likely to be teenagers.
00:14:51.420 Many of them are low income.
00:14:52.640 Many of them are African American.
00:14:53.960 Many of them are Hispanic.
00:14:55.260 They're the ones just getting started in their careers.
00:14:59.140 They're the ones who get devastated by Democrats.

00:15:03.000 the people getting free stuff,
00:15:05.540 the Democrats are gambling politically.
