00:04:42.580 But they're also finding if it's your first home, a whole lot of people just homeownership is beyond their reach.

00:04:51.380 And the median price home, look, it's worth refreshing some basic math.

00:04:57.960 There are a number of different ways to think of averages.

00:05:00.640 There's the mean, which is the average.

00:05:02.560 You take all the different prices and you average them together.

00:05:07.580 And the average price is if there's one that's $100 million and a bunch that are lower,

00:05:13.260 the average will rise higher because of the one.

00:05:15.980 The median is a very different measure.

00:05:18.600 It's not the average price, but it's rather the middle price, the midpoint price.

00:05:24.300 So the median price means half the prices are higher and half the prices are lower.

00:05:31.060 So it's identifying the highest point on the bell curve.

00:05:35.220 And what is striking, and we're going to play right now what Fox News said about this,

00:05:39.700 the median priced home is now significantly above the median salary.

00:05:46.460 And that is meaning for many Americans, homeownership, particularly if you don't have a home already,

00:05:51.580 is being priced out of reach by Joe Biden.

00:05:55.240 The average home buyer needs to make over $110,000 to afford the average home.

00:06:00.380 A new bank rate study showing that the required salary to make that purchase has jumped 46% in just four years.

00:06:08.580 Home buyers only needed to make $76,000 back in 2020.

00:06:14.600 You now need a six-figure salary to buy the average home in 23 states, including the District of Columbia.

00:06:39.840 people shouldn't be too quick to think that renting is the solution.

00:06:43.920 Since President Biden took office, rents are up nearly 21%.

00:06:48.280 You look at the rent numbers there, and let's just go through some of those data points real quick, Senator.

00:06:53.920 You look at your salary, and if you look at your salary,

00:06:58.280 January 2020, they said you need $75,939 to afford the median price home.

00:07:11.560 Ask the average American if they've received a 46% raise in the last four years.

00:13:50.760 and thousands of Californians being laid off
