00:06:24.760As President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping
00:06:27.460are preparing for one of the biggest meetings between the United States and China in years.
00:06:32.860And forget the diplomatic handshakes and the photo opportunities for the moment, because when these two men sit down, virtually every major point of friction between the world's two largest economies could be on the table.
00:06:45.900Trade tariffs and especially artificial intelligence and then microchips and then rare earth minerals and then fentanyl that's been killing far too many Americans, as well as the national security issues that, you know, they want to talk about over in China.
00:08:41.160This is all essential to modern manufacturing.
00:08:44.740Now, we're talking about everything from automobiles to electronics to advanced weapons to missiles and missile systems to the most advanced aircraft and huge portions of technology and that economy in general.
00:08:57.940Now, China understands that leverage more than anyone.
00:09:01.820And America understands our vulnerability, which is what President Trump's been talking
00:09:06.060about since the day he got back into office.
00:09:08.780So one of the questions going into these meetings is whether Trump can secure greater access
00:09:13.500to not only these minerals, while the United States continues trying to build supply chains
00:09:18.500that aren't dependent on Beijing, because America does not want China to have an economic
00:09:24.240kill switch over our critical american industries as well now after trump and gg ping deal with
00:09:31.380those issues there's even a bigger one that both sides are obviously paying major attention to and
00:09:37.680that is probably honestly the most important issue artificial intelligence and computer chips
00:09:43.380now this is the issue i believe people should be paying more attention to than virtually anything
00:09:48.380else because america and china well it's really a cold war race they are competing not only over
00:09:54.840who sells more cars or who has better trade balances yeah those are minor compared to what
00:09:59.920we're talking about right now we're talking about competing over who leads the next technology
00:10:04.240revolution who controls the data and who shapes the narrative artificial intelligence literally
00:10:12.040is reshaping manufacturing it's reshaping medicine it's reshaping military technology
00:10:17.520and intelligence gathering and cyber warfare in virtually every major industry on Earth.
00:10:23.460Now, America currently possesses enormous advantages in advanced semiconductor technology and AI.
00:10:29.720In China, they've been spending countless dollars trying to influence America to shut down AI and AI data centers.
00:10:37.000We found out recently they had more than 200,000 bots online.
00:10:40.400They were putting out misinformation to try to influence the American public
00:10:44.280to stop having AI be a part of America's future.
00:10:48.860In China, they feel like that is how they close that gap.
00:10:52.380Now, China also has companies like Hawaii
00:10:54.620who control Beijing's efforts to develop a technology ecosystem
00:10:58.740that doesn't depend upon American companies.
00:11:01.560And that's why advanced American chips
00:11:03.500have become such a massive national security issue.
00:11:07.520I want you to listen carefully to anything Trump says about chips,
00:11:11.080about AI exports and American technology.
00:11:13.600because this isn't merely a trade fight this is a fight over technological leadership and it
00:11:20.080absolutely has to deal with national security and the way that wars could be fought in the future

00:11:32.000money now than at any other time apparently when it comes to trying to get people into this country0.84
00:11:36.700to be spies and to steal American technology they're really good at it by the way and they're
00:11:42.960moving forward with more focus now than ever before when it comes to try to steal American
00:11:47.780technology. Now, the other issue that the president is going to bring up and China is going to play
00:11:52.760ignorant to has nothing to do with AI, has nothing to do with technology. It has to do with how many0.52
00:11:58.120Americans are dying because the fentanyl that's coming in from China. Trump has repeatedly pushed
00:12:04.340China over the chemicals and the precursor materials that ultimately make their way into
00:12:09.520the fentanyl supply chain. China has announced, quote, new guidelines dealing with fentanyl
00:12:14.280related crimes immediately before these meetings. But that could just be lip service. The question
00:12:20.320now is whether Beijing is prepared to provide measurable cooperation and most importantly,
00:12:26.000enforcement, or are they just lying to America yet again? Now, Trump is going to want to be able
00:12:31.300to come back to the American people and say, hey, China isn't just talking about fentanyl.
00:12:36.340They're actually doing something about stopping the supply chain to all the cartels that are shipping it into this country with these fake pills that are costing so many Americans their lives.
00:12:47.280Many Americans think they're taking something that has no chance of killing them, and it's laced with fentanyl, and then they die.
00:12:53.080That is a problem, and the president is clearly focused on it.
00:12:57.400And then there's one other big issue that does deal with national security.
00:13:50.160And do we hear anything about military communications designed to prevent an accident or a miscalculation from turning into a much larger war or conflict?
00:13:58.960because that's where the economic competition
00:14:01.800could potentially become military confrontation.
00:14:05.740Those are the issues the president has to deal with at the table.
00:14:09.420And finally, we also just have to look at one other thing.
00:14:13.440And this goes back to just body language.
00:14:16.260Watching the relationship between Donald Trump and Xi.
00:14:19.780Donald Trump has always approached Xi in an unusual way.
00:14:23.880He can praise Xi personally while simultaneously threatening massive terrorists
00:15:21.260there are some in washington even republicans that are criticizing the way that president trump
00:15:27.740is celebrating this meeting and welcoming g to america that's part of the reason why i talked
00:15:34.180about how the president's diplomacy has been hey we can talk and be and be friendly but i'm also
00:15:39.760going to be tough on the different sanctions and things i can use to my advantage well the
00:15:45.360Secretary of State Marco Rubio was asked about this today, and here's what he said.

00:15:53.900Chinese president to Washington for such a lavish welcome here, and he called him a brutal,
00:15:58.560unelected, oppressive dictator. Have you heard a similar sentiment in the lead-up to this dinner
00:16:03.120from allies, and what's been your message to folks who are concerned about the U.S. welcoming the
00:16:07.960Chinese president with such open arms? Guys, let me just say it to you this way, because I think
00:16:12.260this is important and i used to have that job too in the senate so i understand it and i respect the
00:16:16.220role that it plays in our system um the united states and china are the two largest economies
00:16:21.400in the world the united states and china are probably the two most powerful militaries in
00:16:25.580the world the relationship between the united states and china will define the 21st century
00:16:30.320what happens in that relationship the idea that we would not interact with them at the highest levels
00:16:35.480is irresponsible it's outrageous we have to that doesn't mean we don't have strong disagreements
00:16:40.280Of course we do. But even at the height of the Cold War, even in the midst of the threat of nuclear annihilation and life ending on the earth, the United States had communications and meetings often with Russian officials and Soviet officials.
00:16:53.260And thank God we did because it prevented a real war.
00:16:57.460So we have – I think it's an obligation to be able to interact and speak to at the highest levels.
00:17:04.240Now, and I think that's what this visit reflects, is the president's belief that no matter what our disagreements and differences may be with the Chinese government, this is not some small country.
00:17:14.860This is the second largest economy in the world and a pretty substantial military that's undergoing the most rapid military buildup probably in history.
00:17:23.040And by the way, a country that we also have very strong points of friction with when it comes to trade and supply chains and critical minerals and things of this nature.
00:17:32.860So I think it's just responsible statecraft for our leaders to speak and meet with one another.
