00:00:26.780 I want to go step backwards for people that may have missed
00:00:29.280 this important issue.
00:00:30.740 Explain this vote and explain the Mike Lee Amendment
00:00:34.400 that is so important to protect religious institutions,
00:00:38.520 schools, and private schools,
00:00:40.880 especially from being persecuted by our government.
00:00:44.500 That's why this amendment for Mike Lee is so important.
00:00:48.540 Well, Democrats in Congress are pushing through a bill
00:00:52.540 that embraces and codifies in the federal law, gay marriage.
00:00:57.900 Twelve Republicans in the Senate have supported that bill.
00:01:02.280 Now, different people, both Republicans and Democrats,
00:01:06.580 have different views on gay marriage.
00:01:08.020 And there's no doubt that views on gay marriage 0.91
00:01:10.040 have changed and changed a lot with the American people
00:01:13.120 over the last 10 years.
00:01:14.240 The biggest danger of this vote is that it will empower the Biden administration,
00:01:23.420 and in particular the Biden IRS, to target people of faith.
00:01:29.060 And by that I mean churches, I mean universities,
00:01:33.700 I mean K-12 schools, I mean charities.
00:01:36.840 Any organizations that, because of their faith,
00:01:40.880 believe marriage is the union of one man and one woman
00:01:44.040 and do not embrace same-sex marriage.
00:01:47.440 And what it will empower the Biden IRS to do
00:01:50.400 is to go after those institutions and persecute them,
00:01:53.960 to strip them of their 501c3 status,
00:01:58.080 to bar them from engaging with the government
00:02:02.820 in providing services to the public.

00:02:07.340 For example, the city of Philadelphia did this to Catholic charities
00:02:11.480 because Catholic charities in Philadelphia,
00:02:13.840 when it came to adoptions,
00:02:15.700 would not facilitate adoption to a same-sex couple.
00:02:19.820 The city of Philadelphia said Catholic charities
00:02:22.280 is out of the business of adoption.
00:02:23.860 We won't allow them to assist with adoption. 0.95
00:02:26.980 Now, mind you, there are lots of other adoption agencies,
00:02:28.840 so if a same-sex couple in Philadelphia
00:02:30.620 wanted to adopt a child, they could do so.
00:02:33.900 They just couldn't conscript Catholic charities 0.90

00:02:39.100 was contrary to their faith.

00:02:56.520 On the last podcast, I predicted Liberty University
00:02:59.600 would be the very first target of the Biden IRS
00:03:03.000 to try to deny their 501c3 status.
00:03:07.640 So to prevent that, Mike Lee, Senator Mike Lee from Utah,
00:03:11.880 has introduced an amendment that is an ironclad amendment
00:03:14.260 that prohibits the IRS and the Biden administration
00:03:18.080 from targeting organizations because of their views on marriage.
00:03:23.120 Now, what's the problem?
00:03:24.640 Well, the Democrats have put fake religious liberty protections
00:03:29.200 into their bill.
00:03:29.980 In particular, they've said nothing in this bill
00:03:32.500 will deny people their 501c3 status.
00:03:36.040 Here's the problem.
00:03:37.320 The Biden IRS would say,
00:03:38.880 well, no, no, no, it's not the bill that's denying them.
00:03:40.540 It's us that's denying them.
00:03:42.860 It's a classic lawyer's sleight of hand

00:03:50.980 Now, so far, the Democrats have refused

00:04:18.620 That means if just three of the 12 Republicans

00:04:26.220 we will not vote for cloture,
00:04:28.200 we will not vote to move this bill forward
