00:03:49.180 but inside party headquarters every week brings paranoia, worries about money,

00:03:54.180 and on occasion, emotional eruptions.

00:03:58.060 The Democratic Party is so short on cash that leaders at its headquarters

00:04:01.420 have undertaken a new gambit to mask the severity of problems.

00:04:04.600 asking vendors not to send bills until after the midterm elections.

00:04:11.580 The bookkeeping maneuver, which was described by three people briefed on it,

00:04:15.180 is the latest sign of financial duress for the DNC as its embattled leader

00:04:19.860 as money troubles threaten to undercut Democratic momentum with 100 days until the midterms.

00:04:27.440 And to give you a sense of the money differential directly, here's what the New York Times says.

00:04:33.240 the Democratic Party and its allies are far beyond Republicans when it comes to money.

00:04:38.320 Mr. Trump controls a $400 million super PAC, and the Republican National Committee is sitting on

00:04:44.340 nearly $130 million. Where's the DNC? $2 million in debt. When you have the New York Times saying,

00:04:56.120 what in the hell is going on with you people? You know, it goes on to say, trusted Mr. Martin,

00:05:01.900 the head of the DNC, was sapped by his handling of a long-promised autopsy of the 2024 election.

00:05:08.120 Late last year, he said he would not release the document, but then his criticism mounted,

00:05:12.080 he released an incomplete draft that featured searing annotations from the DNC that undermined

00:05:17.440 the report. Now, Mr. Martin is both paralyzed by the idea of leaks and surrounded by them.

00:05:24.600 During a May meeting with the full staff of the DNC, days after the draft's autopsy's release,

00:05:29.320 he admitted that times were tough and he chided his team for revealing to reporters what was

00:05:33.240 happening inside party headquarters quote it pisses me off when i see leaks out of this building

00:05:38.400 no more mr martin said he saw a lot of down faces and people hanging their heads keep your heads up

00:06:03.480 biggest expense of the Martin era. What do you think that was, Ben? I'm going to go with private

00:06:08.760 jets just because I know how much they love those private jets, the DNC. I have every certainty the

00:06:13.840 private jet bill is massive, but that was not the single biggest expenditure. The single biggest

00:06:17.780 expenditure was $7.3 million to buy the remnants of Kamala Harris's campaign list from her failed

00:06:27.440 2024 bid. Ms. Harris' political action committee then used that money to cover additional remaining 0.88

00:06:34.620 debts. So that's his biggest expenditure, is bailing out Kamala Harris's bankrupt campaign

00:06:42.040 rather than actually trying to win elections going forward. And here's a little more about

00:06:49.180 his very gentle, experienced management style. Another paragraph from the New York Times.

00:06:54.180 Mr. Martin's fraying nerves are showing. In a peak of frustration in early July,

00:07:01.640 he threw his phone at the desk of a junior aide while upbraiding the person.

00:07:08.580 The phone tossing incident resulted in a formal complaint to the DNC's Human Resources Department.

00:07:16.280 The fallout from the phone throwing episode was described by half a dozen people familiar with

00:07:20.860 the incident who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to

00:07:25.140 discuss internal party matters none of them witnessed the account and there was some dispute

00:15:19.100 Gavin Newsom in California and said that based on my TV appearances today and yesterday,

00:15:26.660 the governor has decided to close the schools in California as well as the bars and the

00:15:31.880 restaurants. Now, seven, seven months later, October 16th, 2020, ABC News is interviewing

00:15:38.280 Fauci and he denies he had any role in the lockdowns. He says, quote, let's go back and

00:15:45.080 look at the transcript we said we should try as best as possible we possibly can to keep the

00:15:50.220 children in schools nobody plays that clip they always come back and say fauci was responsible

00:15:54.260 for shutting schools down i had nothing to do with it now there's a technical word for that

00:16:00.400 that's called a lie also in 2022 he told the hill that he quote didn't recommend locking anything

00:16:07.700 down well his own private uh diary refutes that by the way january 2024 he said quote

00:16:14.380 when he was testifying the house representatives i did not close the schools um fauci is dishonest

00:16:50.040 Fauci also in March of 2020 describes President Trump as incorrigible. This pattern and the rest

00:17:12.320 that's fairly stunning you remember fauci laid out at great length that the source of covet was

00:17:19.560 not the wuhan institute for virology yeah so that was one of the big ones and he got angry on tv when

00:17:25.000 it was brought up it it was not the chinese government it was not any of that um it was

00:17:31.400 instead the wet market in china that that occurred organically from like bat soup in the wet market

00:17:38.940 that just jumped from animals so here is what he wrote in january of 2020 so right at the outset

00:17:56.700 infection it was in early december and not connected to the market the infection spread
