Verdict with Ted Cruz - U.N. Sec. Gen. Shamefully Blasts Israel & Senate Considers Jack Lew-Key Player in Disastrous Obama Iran Deal-to be Ambassador to Israel

00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.

00:00:02.460 Guaranteed human.

00:00:05.240 Welcome. It is The Verdict with Senator Ted Cruz.

00:00:08.120 Ben Ferguson with you as well.

00:00:10.080 And Senator, there was a shocking moment at the United Nations

00:00:14.480 when the Secretary General had some shocking words to say

00:00:20.440 and now Israel is calling for him to resign.

00:00:25.080 This is spreading quickly in the world.

00:00:28.420 Your initial reaction to overall, and we're going to play a clip from it in a moment,

00:00:32.740 but overall the shocking anti-Semitism coming at the United Nations.

00:00:36.960 Well, the United Nations has long been a pit of Israel hatred and anti-Semitism.

00:00:43.260 In many ways, the United Nations exists so that enemies of Israel can attack Israel on a daily basis.

00:00:50.600 Many aspects of the UN are simply a joke.

00:00:52.860 Things like the Human Rights Council being populated by nations like Cuba, like Libya,

00:00:58.060 like Syria, some of the very worst violators of human rights in the world, 1.00

00:01:02.340 populate the Human Rights Council.

00:01:04.220 But the UN also routinely launches investigations of Israel,

00:01:10.580 attacking Israel, delegitimizing Israel, undermining Israel.

00:01:13.760 All that being said, the behavior of the Secretary General this week was shameful

00:01:21.600 even by the standards of the United Nations.

00:01:25.660 Give a listen to what he had to say.

00:01:28.040 On the situation on the ground.

00:01:32.040 Excellencies, the situation in the Middle East is growing more dire by the hour.

00:01:38.340 The war in Gaza is raging and risks spiraling throughout the region.

00:01:45.580 Divisions are splintering societies.

00:01:48.880 Tensions threaten to boil over.

00:01:51.860 At a crucial moment like this, it is vital to be clear on principles,

00:01:57.960 starting with a fundamental principle of respecting and protecting civilians.

00:02:02.960 I have condemned unequivocally the horrifying and unprecedented 7th October acts of terror by Hamas in Israel.

00:02:13.360 Nothing can justify the deliberate killing, injuring and kidnapping of civilians

00:02:18.140 or the launching of rockets against civilian targets.

00:02:23.180 All hostages must be treated humanely and released immediately and without conditions.

00:02:27.500 Excellencies, it is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum.

00:02:43.160 The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation.

00:02:48.320 They have seen their land steadily devoured by settlements and plagued by violence.

00:02:55.340 Their economy is stifled, their people displaced and their homes demolished.

00:03:01.380 Their hopes for a political solution to their plight have been vanishing.

00:03:07.140 But the grievances of the Palestinian people cannot justify the appalling attacks by Hamas

00:03:11.640 and those appalling attacks cannot justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.

00:03:19.100 Wow.

00:03:20.140 In other words, we stand with Israel, but let's tell you every reason why we actually stand with the Palestinians and Hamas 0.99

00:03:26.440 and now we'll start telling Israel what they can and cannot do to protect themselves.

00:03:31.100 Well, that was utterly disgraceful and dishonest.

00:03:33.880 And in a moment, I want to go through it literally sentence by sentence.

00:03:36.500 But I want to first talk about who it is that's speaking.

00:03:39.860 So this is Antonio Manuel de Oliveira Guterres.

00:03:43.440 He's from Portugal.

00:03:44.260 He was previously the Prime Minister of Portugal.

00:03:48.420 And he was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002.

00:03:54.140 Now, what did he do?

00:03:56.540 What did he also do?

00:03:58.400 He was also the president of the Socialist International.

00:04:02.620 So you need to understand this is the left.

00:04:04.780 The far left hates Israel and the far left embraces anti-Semitism.

00:04:11.780 He was before that.

00:04:13.000 He was secretary general of the Socialist Party, but he was president of the Socialist International,

00:04:16.720 the global Socialist International.

00:04:19.120 So this is one of the leading socialists in the world, a man of the left, revered by leftists.

00:04:25.680 This is who they admire.

00:04:28.120 And I want to go through, Ben, I want to play what he's saying again.

00:04:31.160 And I want to stop it a couple of times and just comment on it sentence by sentence.

00:04:35.380 So play it again from the beginning.

00:04:36.560 The situation in the Middle East is growing more dire by the hour.

00:04:43.480 The war in Gaza is raging and risks spiraling throughout the region.

00:04:49.420 Divisions are splintering societies.

00:04:52.720 Tensions threaten to boil over.

00:04:54.700 At a crucial moment like this, it is vital to be clear on principles,

00:05:01.720 starting with the fundamental principle of respecting and protecting civilians.

00:05:08.180 Let's just stop there.

00:05:10.540 He says it's spiraling out of control, Senator.

00:05:13.000 It spiraled out of control the moment that Hamas parachuted in and started taking hostages and killing people.

00:05:19.820 I mean, you had journalists that gathered in Israel to watch the videos that were taken from the Hamas terrorists.

00:05:26.180 They were wearing the equivalent of body cameras, GoPro cameras, and they watched the atrocities in Israel.

00:05:31.960 And this guy says it could spiral out of control.

00:05:34.940 We've already passed that point.

00:05:36.740 They spiraled out of control from square one.

00:05:39.980 Well, that's exactly right.

00:05:41.600 And this statement is all about drawing a moral equivalence between Hamas and Israel.

00:05:46.320 They're both bad actors.

00:05:47.720 They're both to be condemned.

00:05:48.980 They're both to be criticized when they're not remotely comparable.

00:05:52.080 Keep playing, because I want you to listen to his words and what exactly he says.

00:05:56.840 I have condemned unequivocally the horrifying and unprecedented 7th October Acts of Terror by Hamas in Israel.

00:06:05.880 Nothing can justify the deliberate killing, injuring, and kidnapping of civilians or the launching of rockets against civilian targets.

00:06:14.680 Stop.

00:06:16.100 So I want you to look there.

00:06:17.680 Okay, so there he does the obligatory, I can condemn what Hamas did. 0.98

00:06:21.760 I mean, that he has to say.

00:06:24.140 Now notice, he says, I condemn it unequivocally.

00:06:26.380 Nothing can justify it.

00:06:27.400 And he says the targeting of civilians or the launching of rockets.

00:06:30.960 He doesn't specify the magnitude.

00:06:33.520 Is the Holocaust different from somebody being murdered on the streets?

00:06:39.640 What happened on October 7th is Hamas went in house-to-house murdering civilians, targeting civilians.

00:06:47.200 They have killed now over 1,400 Israelis.

00:06:50.840 They murdered elderly people. 0.99

00:06:52.680 They murdered little children. 1.00

00:06:54.520 They violently raped. 1.00

00:06:55.760 Notice he didn't use that word, rape. 1.00

00:06:57.420 They violently raped women. 1.00

00:06:58.940 They violently raped little girls. 1.00

00:07:00.380 Did he condemn the raping of little girls? 0.99

00:07:01.860 No, it didn't mention it at all.

00:07:03.020 It just says, well, the targeting of civilians or firing rockets, that I condemn.

00:07:06.600 He has no acknowledgment that they are beheading and burning alive infants.

00:07:12.360 The scope of it, the depravity of it, is grotesque. 0.97

00:07:17.760 And this enlightened socialist leftist jackass cannot bring himself to condemn it beyond, 0.92

00:07:27.420 I have spoken unequivocally and I condemn it. 0.98

00:07:30.440 But let me get on to what I really want to say, which is I hate Israel. 0.83

00:07:34.180 Continue.

00:07:34.480 All hostages must be treated humanely and released immediately and without conditions.

00:07:40.940 And I respectfully note the presence among us of members of their families.

00:07:46.020 Well, that's very kind.

00:07:47.420 Excellencies, it is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum.

00:07:54.640 The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation.

00:08:00.300 Stop.

00:08:01.400 So, vacuum guy, you're lying.

00:08:03.760 Again, Gaza is not subject to occupation, suffocating, or otherwise.

00:08:08.840 Israel left Gaza.

00:08:10.600 Israel gave the Palestinians Gaza.

00:08:13.160 They didn't just give Gaza to the Palestinians.

00:08:16.020 They handed it over.

00:08:16.900 They said, you want to be in charge.

00:08:18.200 You can have your own state.

00:08:19.400 You're in charge of it.

00:08:20.320 You run it.

00:08:20.940 And they had millions and millions of dollars flow into it. 0.99

00:08:25.900 All Israel did is put up a wall and say, look, you lunatics don't come kill us, but you're in charge. 0.97

00:08:31.220 The only people occupying Gaza is Hamas. 0.99

00:08:35.640 Israel is not in Gaza, although they are going into Gaza now to kill the Hamas terrorists.

00:08:40.380 But that statement, what he means by suffocating occupation is the fact that Israel exists.

00:08:47.920 That's what he means.

00:08:48.940 When anti-Semites talk about this, that's what they mean.

00:08:51.920 As long as there is one square inch of Israel, it is, in his worldview, a suffocating occupation. 0.92

00:08:59.740 It's why when the rabid anti-Israel activists chant, from the river to the sea, they mean from the Jordan River all the way to the sea,

00:09:09.480 they mean obliterating all of Israel. 0.66

00:09:11.720 That's what he calls a suffocating occupation.

00:09:13.700 But that is not Gaza.

00:09:16.160 If it's occupied by anyone, it's occupied by Hamas, which is Palestinian. 0.99

00:09:19.820 The Israel is not in Gaza.

00:09:22.000 Keep playing.

00:09:23.520 They have seen their land steadily devoured by settlements and plagued by violence.

00:09:28.660 Their economy stifled, their people displaced, and their homes demolished.

00:09:34.040 Stop.

00:09:35.300 So, we've talked before on this podcast about one of the classic tools that demagogues and liars use.

00:09:43.700 The passive voice is use of the passive voice.

00:09:46.400 Now, what is the passive voice?

00:09:47.780 For those of y'all who weren't paying close attention in high school grammar, the active voice is when there is an actor who is acting on the verb.

00:09:57.680 Ben hit the tennis ball.

00:10:00.180 That's the active voice.

00:10:01.320 Ben is the actor.

00:10:02.140 He is hitting the tennis ball.

00:10:03.660 The passive voice is the ball was hit.

00:10:07.540 The passive voice is deliberately used to hide the actor.

00:10:13.700 So, the Nixon White House famously says, said crimes were committed.

00:10:19.100 Not who committed the crimes.

00:10:20.840 It is a way you obscure the actor.

00:10:23.140 So, when they say their economy was stifled, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't mean stifler for American pie.

00:10:29.460 He means stifled.

00:10:30.260 He doesn't acknowledge who has stifled the Gaza economy, which is Hamas, that takes millions of dollars that flow in there to build hospitals, to build schools, to build water pipes.

00:10:42.440 And what do they do?

00:10:43.180 They take it all.

00:10:44.180 They loot it all.

00:10:45.160 And they take the water pipes and they turn them into rockets to attack Israelis. 1.00

00:10:48.200 Because the only thing these lunatics want to do is murder Jews. 1.00

00:10:51.960 Because they are filled with genocidal hatred. 1.00

00:10:55.900 And the misery of the Palestinian people. 1.00

00:11:00.140 Look, I agree that many of the Palestinian people are utterly miserable because Hamas terrorists use them as human shields.

00:11:07.620 And they don't build schools.

00:11:08.820 They don't build hospitals.

00:11:09.920 They don't care about Palestinian babies. 0.99

00:11:12.260 They hate Jews more than they care about the Palestinian people. 0.99

00:11:17.440 Keep playing. 0.89

00:11:19.340 Their hopes for a political solution to their plight have been vanishing.

00:11:24.360 But the grievances of the Palestinian people cannot justify the appalling attacks by Hamas.

00:11:30.160 And those appalling attacks cannot justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.

00:11:36.180 Wow.

00:11:36.760 He claims that the oppression of the Palestinian people cannot justify the appalling attacks of Hamas.

00:11:45.040 But that is, of course, what his entire speech is doing, is trying to justify the horrific, inhumane, grotesque terror attacks of Hamas.

00:11:55.640 And then when he says at the end that they should not justify the punishment of the Palestinian people.

00:12:05.160 They will understand this because the media, the corporate media, CNN, ABC, NBC, NBC, they will lie to you.

00:12:10.780 They will not tell you this.

00:12:11.880 They will do what that dishonest demagogue did. 0.87

00:12:14.660 They will suggest that it is Israel that wants Palestinian civilians to suffer or die. 0.95

00:12:19.820 That is a flat-out lie.

00:12:21.780 Israel goes to greater lengths than any military on the face of the planet, including Portugal's.

00:12:26.380 This guy's the former prime minister of Portugal.

00:12:28.000 Portuguese military doesn't go to those lengths to avoid civilian casualties, including texting civilians, including dropping leaflets from the skies, including dropping dud bombs to let people know where they're going, including trying to evacuate civilians.

00:12:43.560 The Israeli military does everything humanly possible to minimize civilian deaths.

00:12:48.700 Why are there civilian deaths?

00:12:49.940 Because Hamas wants them. 0.95

00:12:52.380 Hamas wants Palestinians to die. 0.96

00:12:54.520 Hamas deliberately puts its headquarters in the basement of hospitals. 1.00

00:12:58.700 It puts missiles in the basements of kindergartens because it wants dead Palestinian kindergarten children so that idiots like this can then use those dead human shields as a club to attack and demonize Israel. 1.00

00:13:17.920 I want to tell you real quick about our friends at Augusta Precious Metals. 1.00

00:14:51.240 Senator, there's now calls, and we mentioned this earlier, from Israel for this UN, you know, Secretary General to resign.

00:15:01.840 Do you think other countries will come along beside Israel?

00:15:05.660 And what role should the president have when it comes to calling on this UN chief to resign?

00:15:10.780 Well, here's what Israel has said.

00:15:12.300 And Israel's UN envoy, Galad Erdogan, called the Secretary General's comments shocking, and he demanded that he resign.

00:15:21.000 Foreign Minister Eli Cohen canceled a meeting with Guterres.

00:15:24.900 And Minister Benny Gantz, who actually in the political world of Israel is considered more man of the left,

00:15:31.000 labeled the UN chief a terror apologist.

00:15:35.960 Here is a quote from Ambassador Erdogan.

00:15:40.760 The UN Secretary General, who shows understanding for the campaign of mass murder of children, women, and the elderly,

00:15:48.780 is not fit to lead the UN.

00:15:50.500 I call on him to resign immediately.

00:15:53.200 There is no justification or point in talking to those who show compassion for the most terrible atrocities

00:15:58.160 committed against the citizens of Israel and the Jewish people.

00:16:02.100 There are simply no words.

00:16:04.760 He went on to say the remarks were, quote, horrible and completely disconnected from the reality of our region.

00:16:11.960 It is sad that a person with such views is the head of an organization that arose after the Holocaust.

00:16:19.120 It's really unfathomable.

00:16:21.920 Now, you asked, is the United States going to echo that?

00:16:26.440 Is Joe Biden going to echo the call for the UN Secretary General to resign?

00:16:30.260 I'm willing to put the odds of that at 0.0 percent.

00:16:33.360 There is no chance Joe Biden will call on the UN Secretary General to resign because those sentiments are the sentiments that are held by senior members of his administration,

00:16:44.760 including, by the way, John Kerry, who's right now the climate czar, but he was the Secretary of State under Barack Obama.

00:16:51.200 When John Kerry was Secretary of State, he referred to Israel as an apartheid state.

00:16:56.380 That is an utter lie.

00:16:57.440 It is completely false.

00:16:58.920 When John Kerry did so, I went to the Senate floor and called on John Kerry to resign as Secretary of State.

00:17:04.940 And I said at the time, I said, for the U.S. Secretary of State to repeat these blood libels,

00:17:11.980 his words will be used by the enemies of Israel.

00:17:14.740 They'll be used by Hamas and Hezbollah and Iran and those that seek the destruction of Israel. 0.99

00:17:20.460 And so, unfortunately, under Joe Biden, I think there's no chance they're going to call on him to resign because many of them agree with him.

00:17:30.260 It is so shocking that we are at a point now where we have an administration that can't just be outraged over basic issues of right and wrong.

00:17:39.420 And this, to me, is an issue of right and wrong.

00:17:41.040 So, for verdict listeners right now that say, hey, I want to stand up for Israel,

00:17:45.680 should they be calling their congressmen and their senators and telling them that they should be putting pressure on this administration, on this U.N. issue?

00:17:53.320 What you should be doing is speaking out for Israel, using your voice to make clear that what Hamas did was a grotesque war crime. 0.81

00:18:07.740 It was horrific.

00:18:08.880 It was inhumanity of the kind and nature that the Nazis carried out in the Holocaust. 0.81

00:18:16.260 It was targeting innocent women and children because they are Jews.

00:18:23.100 And Israel is justified in defending itself and in utterly destroying Hamas.

00:18:30.240 And so, look, I think we should be holding American politicians to account when they undermine Israel,

00:18:37.780 as the Biden administration does repeatedly, as the squad does repeatedly,

00:18:41.720 as radicals in our colleges and universities do repeatedly, and as the U.N. is doing.

00:18:48.120 And so, I think adding your voice is important.

00:18:52.100 And I think one of the most important ways to do that is sharing this podcast.

00:18:57.260 I mean, the information we cover in this podcast, you don't get.

00:19:02.020 You can watch CNN every minute, 24 hours a day, although, God help you if you did.

00:19:07.500 I would not wish that on my worst enemy.

00:19:09.440 Yeah.

00:19:11.580 But, and you have spent hours, Ben, on CNN.

00:19:14.100 You know exactly the circle of hell we're talking about with that.

00:19:17.060 Yes, seven, I did seven years in hell, literally.

00:19:19.620 That's what I tell people about my time there as a conservative trying to fight the battle.

00:19:23.160 But they don't cover news.

00:19:24.600 They won't tell you about any of this.

00:19:26.060 It's simply not, they are now political propaganda.

00:19:30.720 Fox News will cover this, but Fox News, you get a snippet here and there.

00:19:33.960 You get a couple of minutes of it, but you don't get the level of in-depth analysis of the facts that we try to provide in this podcast.

00:19:42.740 And the reason, look, you and I are sitting here.

00:19:46.400 It is 11, 12 p.m.

00:19:47.820 We typically record these podcasts at 10 o'clock at night or 11 o'clock at night or midnight because both of us have full-time day jobs.

00:19:57.020 But I think it is important to get this information out.

00:20:00.180 And so sharing this podcast and making the case that when we see civilian casualties, which we will, making sure people understand this is because Hamas wants Palestinian civilians to die.

00:20:12.100 They are counting on Democrats in the media to use this to attack Israel.

00:20:17.280 Canadian women are looking for more, more of themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world around them. 0.64

00:20:42.520 Listen to the Honest Talk podcast on iHeartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.

00:20:47.660 You know, there's also something else that's happening, and that's going to happen on Wednesday.

00:20:53.880 And it is interesting, the timing.

00:20:57.080 You have a man that has been nominated to become the ambassador to Israel from the U.S.

00:21:03.300 I had the privilege of watching you question him.

00:21:06.620 And I want to play part of that because we're now, I mean, if there's any time to have a strong, staunch ambassador,

00:21:14.680 a man that's willing to stand side by side with Israel, this would be the time for the Biden administration to do that.

00:21:20.740 And yet there are a lot of problems with this individual.

00:21:24.440 And I want people to hear what you had to say to him back and forth a little bit.

00:21:28.540 Take a listen.

00:21:29.060 You played a pivotal role in flooding over $100 billion to the Iranian regime.

00:21:37.560 The Biden administration has continued that policy, flooding nearly an additional $100 billion to the Iranian regime. 0.58

00:21:46.780 That policy of appeasement, sending hundreds of billions of dollars to a theocratic, homicidal, genocidal maniac 0.65

00:21:54.900 who leads chants of death to America and death to Israel, has proven catastrophic.

00:22:01.160 The death squads in Israel from Hamas are funded in real and meaningful ways by the billions of dollars the Obama administration

00:22:14.940 and now the Biden administration has flowed directly to Iran.

00:22:19.580 That has proven disastrous.

00:22:21.800 We also have drones.

00:22:27.900 As you know, today, the UN arms embargo on Iran expires today.

00:22:36.320 Ironically, the day of your hearing, you were pivotal in advocating for UN resolution 2231, the Iran deal,

00:22:46.000 which is why the arms embargo is expiring today.

00:22:50.340 On October 7th, Hamas used swarms of sophisticated drones in their October 7th attack.

00:22:58.060 Do you believe the world is safer today because of 233, 2231 and the expiration of the arms embargo, 0.71

00:23:08.360 allowing Iran now to sell ballistic missiles and long range drones?

00:23:14.320 Senator, I think you would have to agree that the history of the U.S. engagement on JCPOA has changed substantially since I sat in this room.

00:23:23.980 Do you think the world is better and safer with the arms embargo expires?

00:23:28.320 Senator, if the U.S. was not...

00:23:31.680 Yes or no?

00:23:32.360 Are we safer today with no arms embargo?

00:23:34.460 I think it's a bunch more complicated than that because we're not part of JCPOA.

00:23:39.140 Therefore, there was no extension of the arms embargo.

00:23:41.540 I would have advocated for an extension of the arms embargo, and we might well have... 1.00

00:23:46.500 And by the way, the Biden administration has been in power two and a half years.

00:23:50.420 The arms embargo is expiring today, and you were pivotal in that happening.

00:23:53.540 Look, if you look at just that exchange right there, so Jack Lew was the Treasury Secretary under Barack Obama.

00:24:03.380 Before that, he was Chief of Staff under Barack Obama, and he played a central role in the Obama-Iran nuclear deal. 0.93

00:24:11.700 The Obama-Iran nuclear deal was spectacularly foolish.

00:24:14.580 It resulted in over $100 billion going to Iran and just flooding that economy with cash. 0.63

00:24:20.100 By the way, Iran is the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, and that money that Jack Lew sent to Iran

00:24:26.660 and the money that in the past two and a half years the Biden administration has sent to Iran

00:24:30.760 in a very real sense funded these Hamas death squads and the terror attacks on Israel.

00:24:36.820 But, you know, his response is, well, gosh, we're out of the Iran deal now, so it's not my fault.

00:24:42.460 Well, as I pointed out there, Joe Biden's been in office two and a half years.

00:24:46.480 He's tried desperately to give Iran everything it wanted. 0.88

00:24:49.260 He's given them another $100 billion, just about.

00:24:52.660 And nonetheless, under Jack Lew's leadership, there is no longer an arms embargo.

00:24:59.560 And that was because Lew led the fight to eliminate the arms embargo.

00:25:04.460 And we can see those drones attacking and those rockets raining down on Israel.

00:25:11.440 Patriot Mobile for 10 years has been America's only Christian conservative wireless provider.

00:25:16.980 And when I say only, trust me, they are literally the only one.

00:25:20.880 The team at Patriot Mobile are incredible because they are an American-based company with an American-based call center

00:25:27.640 that helps proud Americans just like you that are conservatives and Christian know that when they pay their bill every month,

00:25:34.180 you're actually making a difference and standing up for what you believe in.

00:25:38.200 So stop sending your money to woke companies that are fighting against your values. 0.74

00:25:43.040 You may not realize it, but Big Mobile, they have been giving millions to liberal Democrats and to places like Planned Parenthood.

00:25:52.280 Well, Patriot Mobile has decided to do something else, and I love this about them as a company.

00:25:56.840 For every Verdict listener that switches your cell phone provider to Patriot Mobile,

00:26:01.940 they are going to make an initial donation to an organization that helps protect the lives of unborn children.

00:26:10.660 It is pretty awesome.

00:26:12.160 And then every month when you pay your bill, they take a portion of your bill at no extra cost to you,

00:26:16.520 and they give it back to hardcore conservative Christian organizations.

00:26:20.200 They stand up for freedom of speech, religious freedom, the sanctity of life, the Second Amendment,

00:26:25.720 as well as our military, our veterans, and first responder heroes.

00:26:29.200 So you're going to have a bill every month for a cell phone.

00:26:31.520 Why not put it with a company that fights for what you believe in?

00:26:35.240 100% U.S.-based customer service team is there to help make switching easy.

00:26:40.240 You can keep your same cell phone number you have now, keep your same phone, or upgrade to a new one.

00:26:56.480 972-PATRIOT or PatriotMobile.com.

00:26:59.780 Senator, you weren't done with this nominee to become the ambassador from the U.S. to Israel.

00:27:05.740 You also brought up another point, and I want people to hear what you said during this confirmation.

00:27:09.360 Shift to another thing, because the Biden administration didn't just send money to Iran in massive numbers.

00:27:17.320 It has also sent money to Gaza that went to Hamas.

00:27:21.360 And at the time, I led a coalition of senators urging the Biden administration,

00:27:26.600 do not send money to Gaza because it is controlled by Hamas.

00:27:29.620 It will be used by Hamas for acts of terrorism.

00:27:31.960 We now know that the Biden administration reached the following determination, and I quote,

00:27:38.260 due to its overall strength and level of control over Gaza,

00:27:40.940 we assess that there is a high risk Hamas could potentially derive indirect unintentional benefit from U.S. assistance to Gaza.

00:27:49.180 High risk.

00:27:50.720 Now, as Treasury Secretary, you're familiar with these determinations.

00:27:54.020 Under ordinary anti-terrorism laws, you can't send money where there's a high risk it'll be used for terrorism.

00:27:59.520 But what did the Biden administration do?

00:28:01.640 It waived our anti-terrorism law because their political agenda was so important they were willing to take that high risk.

00:28:08.640 Was it a mistake to send hundreds of millions of dollars to Gaza that, in a very real and practical way,

00:28:14.080 funded the death squads and funded the rockets that are being used to murder Israelis?

00:28:18.000 Senator, I was not in government at the time these decisions were made.

00:28:21.080 Was it a mistake?

00:28:21.620 I'm not familiar with the back and forth that you're referring to,

00:28:24.540 but my understanding is the funding that went to Gaza was for things like the hospital and humanitarian...

00:28:31.220 So was OFAC wrong when it concluded there's a high risk that Hamas could derive benefits? 0.57

00:28:35.580 Senator, I would have to look at the document to have high...

00:28:38.460 You were one of few people that has the expertise to do this.

00:28:41.160 I have high regard for OFAC.

00:28:42.960 I just am not familiar with the document.

00:28:44.920 So is the world safer or less safe because hundreds of millions of dollars were sent to Gaza 0.94

00:28:50.360 when it's controlled by Hamas?

00:28:52.920 Senator, Hamas's activities have proven how evil they are and how important it is to deny... 0.98

00:28:59.040 Okay, so you're not answering that question.

00:29:00.680 Let me ask this question.

00:29:02.780 But I will say this, Senator, is...

00:29:04.600 The Biden administration, the Biden State Department, has repeatedly undermined Israel...

00:29:09.600 Stop for a second.

00:29:10.800 Stop for a second.

00:29:12.140 All right.

00:29:12.780 Let's just take that exchange right there.

00:29:15.200 So I referenced something called OFAC.

00:29:17.820 What is OFAC?

00:29:18.580 OFAC is the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

00:29:21.500 OFAC is part of the Treasury Department.

00:29:23.540 So OFAC reports to the Treasury Secretary.

00:29:26.880 Jack Lew knows exactly what OFAC does.

00:29:28.920 OFAC all the time makes determinations about whether money is likely to support terrorism.

00:29:34.240 And if it is, you can't send the money.

00:29:35.800 That's OFAC's job.

00:29:37.440 So notice Jack Lew's defense.

00:29:39.040 He says, well, I don't know.

00:29:40.100 I'm not part of the administration.

00:29:41.580 Mind you, he's been nominated by Joe Biden to serve as the United States Ambassador to Israel. 0.86

00:29:47.180 But his defense is ignorance.

00:29:49.380 He's not going to defend the sending money to Gaza, even though OFAC, the office that used to report to him, concluded there was a high likelihood it would go to Hamas and go to terrorism.

00:29:58.940 Instead, he says, well, I don't know.

00:30:00.520 I just I don't know anything.

00:30:01.740 You know, just I'm just some guy sitting here.

00:30:03.380 Don't ask me to know it.

00:30:04.320 Know anything about it.

00:30:05.220 And then he also puts out the rather amusing talking point.

00:30:08.940 Well, the money was supposed to go to hospitals.

00:30:12.880 No kidding.

00:30:14.440 Yeah.

00:30:15.120 Yeah.

00:30:15.740 Thanks.

00:30:16.280 Hundreds of millions that has flooded into Gaza was supposed to go to hospitals.

00:30:21.620 Remember the goose stepping secretary general of the U.N. 0.95

00:30:25.400 where he says talks about the poverty in Gaza. 0.97

00:30:28.860 Well, the reason they're so poor is they take all the money that's supposed to go to hospitals and they send it to Hamas to kill Jews instead, because that's the only thing they care about is murdering as many Jews as possible. 0.97

00:30:40.260 And Jack Lew should know that. 0.99

00:30:42.580 But but all right.

00:30:43.440 The questioning goes on, because next I ask him about the Biden administration systematically undermining Israel.

00:30:49.740 And I'm going to foreshadow slightly if you thought he didn't know anything about or he claimed he didn't know anything about Biden's policy towards towards Gaza.

00:30:58.500 He's going to claim he knows even less about Biden's policy towards Israel.

00:31:02.760 Within hours of the attack commencing, the State Department sent out a tweet from the Office of Palestinian Affairs, an office that would report to you if you're confirmed, that said we unequivocally condemn the attack of Hamas terrorists and the loss of life that is incurred.

00:31:16.820 We urge all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks.

00:31:21.220 Terror and violence solve nothing.

00:31:23.200 Do you agree with this tweet that was sent by the Biden State Department?

00:31:26.220 Senator, I would have to read it.

00:31:30.300 I'm not familiar with it.

00:31:31.760 You're not familiar with it.

00:31:32.960 I want I want I want to go back to the last point.

00:31:35.560 Hold on a second.

00:31:37.020 You're not familiar with this tweet.

00:31:38.720 They sent it out at three in the morning while the attacks were unfolding.

00:31:41.840 I blasted it at three in the morning and they deleted it within the hour because it was shameful.

00:31:46.640 They were telling telling Israel, do not respond while your citizens are being murdered.

00:31:51.920 And by the way, the president of the United States has stated clearly the policy of the United States.

00:31:57.280 I agree.

00:31:58.080 I agree with the president of the I understand.

00:32:00.320 But at the same time, this administration repeatedly walks back what he says.

00:32:04.580 So here's another tweet sent from the State Department.

00:32:07.240 Turkish foreign minister and I spoke.

00:32:09.520 This is from Secretary Blinken spoke further on Hamas's terrorist attack on Israel.

00:32:14.620 I encourage Turkey's advocacy for a ceasefire and the release of all hostages held by Hamas immediately. 0.97

00:32:20.880 Do you agree with this tweet from the secretary of state calling for a ceasefire immediately after this attack began?

00:32:28.100 I think the president and the secretary of state have made clear that Israel has a right and a responsibility.

00:32:33.460 Do you agree with this tweet from the State Department?

00:32:35.460 Senator, I can't respond to tweets that you're reading to me.

00:32:38.720 Are you not familiar with it?

00:32:40.980 I'm telling you.

00:32:41.520 You haven't followed what the administration has said on this.

00:32:43.660 By the way, they deleted this tweet as well.

00:32:46.240 Day after day after day, this administration has systematically undermined Israel.

00:32:51.620 And finally, you advocated for U.N.

00:32:53.380 Hold on.

00:32:53.920 Stop.

00:32:55.460 All right.

00:32:56.320 Let's take that back and forth. 0.97

00:32:57.880 Notice his entire defense is, I don't know a damn thing. 0.93

00:33:00.380 I have no idea. 0.94

00:33:01.200 Now, mind you.

00:33:02.800 So Jack Lew was nominated months ago.

00:33:06.020 His nomination hadn't gone anywhere.

00:33:07.940 Why hadn't it gone anywhere?

00:33:09.060 In fact, there were some Democrats who were attacking me saying Cruz is holding this nomination.

00:33:13.520 That was, in fact, not true because you cannot hold a nomination until it is cleared committee and is headed to the floor.

00:33:21.680 Until it is made it out of committee, no senator can hold any nomination because there's no ability in the Senate to do that.

00:33:30.080 So the reason Jack Lew had not proceeded until last week is because the Democrats who controlled the hearings hadn't scheduled a hearing for him.

00:33:36.600 And they just allow his nomination to sit there for week after week after week after week.

00:33:40.640 Now, once this attack happened, suddenly the Democrat talking point went out.

00:33:45.000 And it went out from the White House.

00:33:46.220 It went out from the Democrats in the Senate and the House.

00:33:48.580 Everyone was echoing, we must confirm Jack Lew now, now, now, now, now.

00:33:52.860 Why?

00:33:53.460 Because Israel's in crisis and we need our ambassador there.

00:33:55.820 And so they rushed the hearing the last week.

00:33:58.380 And today we're going to vote in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

00:34:02.060 I assume every Democrat is going to vote to confirm Jack Lew.

00:34:05.040 And they're saying we must do it because of the war in Israel.

00:34:07.880 Now, notice his defense.

00:34:08.900 There's a war in Israel and he's saying, well, I don't know what's happening.

00:34:12.940 I don't know what the State Department said.

00:34:14.540 I don't know what the State Department said the day the attack happened.

00:34:16.800 I don't know what the Secretary of State said the day after the attack happened.

00:34:20.200 Both of those tweets were deleted because they were disgraceful.

00:34:23.800 They were deleted after I called them out.

00:34:26.240 And his defense, it's just the I know nothing defense.

00:34:32.040 And there's a reason he has to give that defense because the alternative is to actually defend it.

00:34:37.480 And even the Biden administration won't defend it. 0.70

00:34:39.740 They deleted the tweets and realized, oh, crap, we can't say this out loud. 0.89

00:34:43.640 And so instead, he's reduced to just dissembling. 0.80

00:34:47.980 And it seems to work for them because it's like they say, we'll get away with it because surely no one's really going to try to stop us now that we desperately need this nominee.

00:35:00.680 Is that part of the game plan here? 1.00

00:35:02.740 Just, hey, act like you're an idiot so you get the nomination done with and then you can do what you really know. 1.00

00:35:08.040 And we know you're going to do for us and what you really believe in. 1.00

00:35:11.240 And you're not going to be a tough guy, you know, with Hamas, Hesabah. 0.99

00:35:14.560 In fact, you're probably going to be tougher on Israel as the ambassador from the U.S.

00:35:18.520 Yeah, look, the Biden administration's argument is essentially our policies have utterly screwed up.

00:35:24.360 The Middle East has caused chaos in Israel, sending hundreds of billions of dollars to Iran and funding terrorists was a spectacularly bad idea.

00:35:31.600 But because things are so screwed up, we need to confirm one of the guys who was one of the lead advocates for sending hundreds of billions of dollars to Iran and the terrorists. 0.76

00:35:39.700 In other words, one of the architects of the policies who screwed this up, we got to confirm as our ambassador because things are so screwed up. 0.92

00:35:46.700 That makes no sense.

00:35:48.040 I would like to see a U.S. ambassador to Israel confirmed yesterday.

00:35:52.000 I'd like to see one who actually is committed, number one, to defending America, but number two, to standing with our friend and ally Israel.

00:35:58.500 And Jack Lew's record has been precisely backwards.

00:36:01.860 But let's go to the last exchange of the hearing because the last exchange really reveals.

00:36:06.760 And finally, you advocated for U.N. Resolution 2334, which declared much of Israel illegally occupied territory, including the Jewish quarter in Jerusalem and the Western Wall.

00:36:20.120 Do you believe the Jewish quarter in the Western Wall are illegally occupied territory?

00:36:23.940 Senator, I do not believe that it is illegally occupied territory.

00:36:31.500 Then why did you support a U.N. resolution saying that it is?

00:36:34.340 I think we could have a conversation about that, but it's going to take me more than 10 seconds to respond to it.

00:36:40.800 All the time you like.

00:36:43.300 Allow the witness to respond, if you allow the witness to respond.

00:36:46.320 Yeah. So first, if I can respond, you've said a lot of things that you have not given me a chance to respond to.

00:36:51.900 I sanctioned Hamas in 2015.

00:36:53.840 Hamas was sanctioned again today.

00:36:55.660 So I don't think it was a fair characterization of either what I did or this administration.

00:37:00.860 Second of all, the issue of a U.N. resolution is it was a U.N. resolution that all the parties had to agree to that was negotiated to take out the most offensive provisions.

00:37:15.020 Whether it was a good or a bad resolution in the end, the president decided to abstain rather than have a worse resolution come out.

00:37:24.080 You can agree or disagree with that.

00:37:25.620 You could have vetoed it.

00:37:26.540 But he was trying to prevent a worse resolution.

00:37:29.600 You could have vetoed it.

00:37:30.980 The time has expired.

00:37:33.580 Senator Duckworth.

00:37:35.380 So understand that exchange.

00:37:37.440 So this all happened at the end of 2016.

00:37:41.340 So December of 2016.

00:37:42.980 The presidential election has happened.

00:37:44.560 And Donald Trump has just been elected. 1.00

00:37:47.000 Barack Obama is a lame duck. 0.99

00:37:49.240 On the way out before they leave, they decided they wanted to stick it to Israel on the way out the door. 0.96

00:37:55.540 So in December of 2016, the Obama administration orchestrated U.N. Resolution 2334.

00:38:01.840 U.N. Resolution 2334 is the most viciously anti-Israel, anti-Semitic resolution that's ever made it out of the United Nations.

00:38:10.880 It declares much of modern-day Israel illegally occupied territory and illegitimate.

00:38:18.200 It declares Judea and Samaria illegally occupied territory and illegitimate.

00:38:24.200 It declares, as I mentioned in the question, the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem as illegally occupied territory.

00:38:32.300 It declares the Western Wall.

00:38:33.980 It's also called the Wailing Wall.

00:38:35.120 You may remember there's a famous picture of Barack Obama wearing a yarmulke with his hand resting against the Western Wall.

00:38:42.440 Under U.N. Resolution 2334, the Western Wall of Solomon's Temple is illegally occupied territory.

00:38:53.340 Now, that is absurd.

00:38:55.620 It is a lie.

00:38:56.420 It is incredibly damaging.

00:38:57.740 Now, how did the Obama administration did this?

00:39:00.140 They did this by orchestrating behind the scenes and getting the enemies of Israel to draft it, to author it.

00:39:07.200 They were actively involved in drafting it.

00:39:11.360 But then, you know, his defense that he kept saying, well, we did it because we wanted to prevent something worse from happening.

00:39:18.860 We wanted that to prevent them from passing an even worse resolution.

00:39:22.100 Now, there is a technical legal term for what he just did there, and that's called a lie. 0.99

00:39:27.580 That's called utter garbage. 0.99

00:39:29.700 Why? 0.97

00:39:30.840 Because under the U.N. Charter, the United States is a permanent member of the Security Council, and we have a veto.

00:39:37.160 We can veto any resolution that comes out.

00:39:40.400 So if the United States says two words, says, I object, the resolution fails.

00:39:46.900 That's a power the United States has.

00:39:50.020 So he said, well, the president decided to abstain.

00:39:52.860 So he did more than that.

00:39:54.060 The Obama administration was behind the scenes orchestrating the whole thing.

00:39:58.540 But Lou was intimately involved in undermining Israel on the way out the door.

00:40:05.460 And I will note, when the Trump presidency started, I introduced legislation that would have cut off funding for the United Nations entirely from the United States unless and until they rescinded U.N. Resolution 2334.

00:40:19.380 And we should have stood hard and done that, unfortunately.

00:40:23.420 In fact, I got in arguments with Nikki Haley, who was nominated to be U.N. ambassador, because she disagreed with doing that.

00:40:29.940 And I think we should have stood firmly and said, this is a viciously anti-Israel resolution and we will not stand for it.

00:40:37.860 You're not getting our money as long as you're attacking Israel. 0.97

00:40:41.200 That's what we should have done.

00:40:42.520 But I got to say, I have no doubt that the secretary general of the U.N. would.

00:40:51.100 Would have been thrilled and maybe was thrilled at the time with the resolution.

00:40:56.780 It's entirely consistent with the remarks that he made this week.

00:41:01.440 It is, again, one of those issues where Americans need to understand these are important in big votes and these are people that are getting into positions of power.

00:41:12.000 And they're putting not just our security at risk, but especially those in Israel at risk. 0.73

00:41:17.720 And with this anti-Semitism, to be clear, that's what it is.

00:41:21.480 I also want to play for you, Senator, the White House.

00:41:24.640 They're taking some heat now for their stance on Israel that seems to be changing by the hour.

00:41:30.200 Before I do that, I want to tell you about our friends at Chalk.

00:42:56.320 That's Chalk.

00:42:57.140 CHOQ.com.

00:42:59.660 Senator, I want to play for you quickly the White House.

00:43:03.040 And the White House got themselves in some trouble because the president has mostly been saying the right things.

00:43:10.060 But the White House and the staffers, completely different story.

00:43:14.700 Take a listen to the White House press briefing.

00:43:16.400 What is this level of concern right now about the potential rise of anti-Semitism in light of everything that's going on in Israel?

00:43:23.800 So a couple of things.

00:43:25.460 Look, we have not seen any credible threats.

00:43:31.060 I know there's been always questions about credible threats.

00:43:34.480 And so I just want to make sure that that's out there.

00:43:37.260 But look, Muslim and those perceived to be Muslim have endured a disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks.

00:43:44.920 And certainly President Biden understands that many of our Muslim Arab Americans and Palestinian American loved ones and neighbors

00:43:52.060 are worried about the hate being directed at their communities.

00:43:55.360 And that is something you heard the president speak to in his address just last Thursday.

00:44:01.860 And so one of the things that the president has done is directed his homeland security team to prioritize prevention

00:44:08.340 and disruption of any emerging threats that could harm the Jewish, the Muslim, Arab Americans, or any other communities.

00:44:15.520 And that is something that the president has sought to do since day one.

00:44:19.940 And as you know, the president ran on protecting communities, obviously, but bringing people together, protecting the soul of the nation.

00:44:31.420 And so that is something that the president takes very, very seriously.

00:44:36.300 And we're going to continue to denounce any sort of hate towards any American here.

00:44:41.400 And so that's what we're going to continue to be steadfast on.

00:44:44.480 Again, he has advised, directed his homeland security team to make sure that they're on top of this.

00:44:50.880 Now, Senator, the part about this that's so laughable is the White House press secretary has now come out and said,

00:44:58.160 quote, she misheard the anti-Semitism question only because of the massive backlash from that answer.

00:45:05.820 Well, it really is striking that the White House press secretary is unwilling to stand up and clearly and unequivocally condemn anti-Semitism,

00:45:13.300 say anti-Semitism is wrong.

00:45:15.100 It is evil.

00:45:15.880 It is a unique evil that has existed on the face of this planet for thousands of years.

00:45:20.540 And we are completely opposed to it.

00:45:23.240 Moreover, we will ensure that law enforcement resources are there to protect Jewish Americans.

00:45:28.640 I'll tell you, Jewish communities across this country have a level of concern and a level of fear unlike any time I've ever seen.

00:45:36.280 As the anti-Semitism on college campuses, there was a Jewish student at Columbia who was beaten with a stick in recent days,

00:45:45.520 the threats of violence on campuses because the anti-Israel, the Jew-hating far left,

00:45:53.160 is so extreme that there is a real threat of violence against the American Jewish community and, for that matter,

00:46:01.600 the Jewish community worldwide in Europe and elsewhere.

00:46:04.480 And I've got to say, her answer to that was striking in that the Babylon Bee,

00:46:10.700 which does a fabulous job as a humor and satire site,

00:46:14.380 they had an article that they hadn't published,

00:46:18.260 but they tweeted it out today,

00:46:20.420 and they said,

00:46:21.460 it's hard to stay ahead of reality at the Babylon Bee.

00:46:23.780 We had this written up last night,

00:46:25.360 only to wake up and see the White House doing exactly this before we had a chance to publish.

00:46:30.280 And here was the fake satirical headline that they had written,

00:46:34.340 and they were getting ready to publish when Corrine Jean-Pierre beat them to the punch.

00:46:37.800 The fake headline read,

00:46:39.360 in strong response to rising hate crimes against Jews,

00:46:43.580 Democrats denounce Islamophobia.

00:46:46.120 That's exactly what she did.

00:46:47.740 Yeah.

00:46:48.020 And it's, and I tweeted out, no longer satire, just sad,

00:46:51.880 because their view,

00:46:53.720 listen, when it comes to the anti-Semitic bigots,

00:46:57.680 when it comes to the squad,

00:46:59.180 when it comes to the 35 student groups at Harvard

00:47:02.580 and the radicals running our college campuses,

00:47:06.240 the Biden White House,

00:47:07.220 and I would have to assume, including Corrine Jean-Pierre,

00:47:10.360 side with the radicals against the people of Israel

00:47:13.720 and against even American Jews,

00:47:15.840 their answer, they say,

00:47:17.040 we've seen no credible threat

00:47:18.780 of anti-Semitism in America, really.

00:47:23.040 Well, where the hell have you been if you haven't seen any?

00:47:25.980 Because I got to tell you,

00:47:27.260 the Jewish community is feeling it

00:47:28.960 acutely, and we've seen multiple horrific acts of violence

00:47:33.020 directed against Jews,

00:47:34.200 directed against synagogues,

00:47:35.380 including mass murders in the United States,

00:47:37.740 and for the White House to say they've seen no credible threat

00:47:41.220 is truly absurd.

00:47:42.920 Yeah, and I was talking literally today

00:47:44.780 to a dear friend of mine who's Jewish

00:47:46.560 that works very close to Times Square

00:47:49.440 in a largely Jewish community,

00:47:51.520 and he said they had been told

00:47:53.420 by local law enforcement

00:47:55.200 to really be on high alert

00:47:56.840 and be careful,

00:47:57.680 and even had recommended

00:47:59.260 that they travel together in groups,

00:48:01.060 not be isolated alone,

00:48:02.760 and to be careful at their places of business.

00:48:06.320 That is what he said to me today,

00:48:08.580 and yet the White House is acting like

00:48:09.920 none of that's happening at all.

00:48:11.040 It is sad,

00:48:13.900 and today's Democrat Party

00:48:16.160 is captive to the far left,

00:48:18.040 and I will say,

00:48:19.540 I've had conversations

00:48:20.840 with multiple people on the left

00:48:22.580 who are not deeply political,

00:48:24.820 who are shocked

00:48:26.960 at the open anti-Semitism

00:48:30.140 that is arising on the far left.

00:48:33.020 It's been there for a long time,

00:48:34.260 but if you're not paying close attention,

00:48:36.400 it takes something like the events

00:48:38.080 of the last couple of weeks

00:48:39.140 to really bring in a stark relief,

00:48:40.820 and I hope this is opening some eyes.
