00:00:00.000 Good evening, I'm Derek Fildebrandt, publisher of the Western Standard, and you're watching
00:00:24.000 the pipeline today is february 9th 2022 uh i'm joined as usual today by western standard
00:00:33.040 news editor dave nailer uh dave are your fingertips bleeding out you know it's just
00:00:37.920 nice to get away from my desk even if it's just for a few minutes to spend with you
00:00:42.320 oh that really warms my heart thanks thanks welcome uh a little less pleasantly uh also
00:00:48.640 joined uh by western centered assistant opinion and broadcast editor and host of triggered cory
00:00:54.600 morgan uh always a pleasure to get a chance to get in front of the camera again not enough for
00:00:58.840 you no never not enough okay uh well we've got a great show today uh vaccine passports uh ending
00:01:06.560 or actually technically have ended in alberta i believe scheduled to end in saskatchewan uh
00:01:12.200 so we're going to discuss uh the reopening plans in both alberta and saskatchewan for premieres
00:01:17.980 kenny and mo respectively uh not very fast i'd say um at least some of these fronts uh far too fast
00:01:27.580 for any of the unions uh they think uh great two kids not wearing masks is gonna kill everyone
00:01:33.900 uh so we're gonna get into that as well uh the freedom truckers i think that's just broadly what
00:01:39.660 we call them because there's the freedom convoy then there's these blockades and stuff everywhere
00:01:44.140 we'll just call them freedom truckers in general, even though there's now farmers and all sorts of
00:01:48.800 big heavy equipment everywhere. No end in sight. Reopening plans in Alberta and Saskatchewan not
00:01:57.500 aggressive enough for many of the protesters and absolutely nothing coming from Ottawa that would
00:02:02.260 signal even an openness to consider reopening there. So it seems like there's no end in sight.
00:02:09.300 We're going to get into there, what the police reaction has been, what the political reaction
00:02:12.680 has been, and what do the Freedom Truckers plan on doing as this appears to be becoming
00:02:19.080 a war of attrition.
00:02:21.800 So before we get started, though, I want to, of course, thank all of our Western Standard
00:02:25.640 members for your continued support.
00:02:27.020 Without you, we couldn't do any of this.
00:02:29.920 If you're not yet a member of the Western Standard, please go to westernstandardonline.com
00:02:33.800 slash membership.
00:02:35.040 You can try it free for 15 days.
00:02:37.540 It's only $10 a month or $99 a year, and you're going to get complete unlimited access
00:02:42.660 that's all Western Standard content.
00:02:44.440 The Western Standard is independent
00:02:46.140 and government bailout free.
00:02:47.760 We are one of a very small handful of media outlets
00:02:51.020 in Canada that refuse to be bought and bribed
00:02:53.860 by the federal government and their bailout subsidy.
00:02:56.820 We don't take that money.
00:02:57.780 So we need people to step up
00:03:00.240 and support independent journalism, independent media.
00:03:03.420 And that's what we're trying to do here for Westerners.
00:03:07.440 But we gotta pay the bill. 0.98
00:03:08.340 So of course we need to acknowledge
00:03:10.660 one of today's sponsors, Algedex.
00:03:12.660 Algodex is owned by Algonada. This is great new technology just coming online now in the digital
00:03:21.500 currency world. Algodex is a great way for you to use the digital currency Algorand in your
00:03:28.660 day-to-day transactions. Can you imagine a world where we don't have to buy a cup of coffee using
00:03:34.080 the federal dollar and you don't even have to use the American federal dollar. You don't have to
00:03:38.140 use the euro or the pound sterling. You can use real money, digital currencies that are not at
00:03:44.360 the beck and call of governments and inflation. Algodex is making digital currencies usable in a
00:03:50.560 day-to-day basis. Well, speaking of buying a cup of coffee, we need to acknowledge newest swag
00:03:59.660 around the office, Western Standard mugs. Right now, they're really just for the staff around
00:04:04.340 here but uh cory is insisting i think quite rightfully we're gonna have to set up some
00:04:08.500 promotions and contests uh so that uh all of you can enjoy uh your definitely coffee we would never
00:04:16.840 drink anything but coffee or water on the air never absolutely we wouldn't do that no we wouldn't do
00:04:23.000 that uh so you can drink your coffee or water out of a beautiful red and white western standard mug
00:04:29.300 uh they just came in today i was got a nice heft too we're good to have you wait you will be the
00:04:33.640 NVD office. Oh, yeah.
00:04:35.640 And then, like, you know, if anyone ever breaks
00:04:37.680 any office, like, these are weaponizable.
00:04:39.700 You can defend yourself with these.
00:04:41.820 Baseball hats next?
00:04:44.100 Yeah, I guess.
00:04:45.380 We've got jackets, pens.
00:04:47.320 I guess we're going to need some baseball caps.
00:04:50.220 We should set up a store.
00:04:51.360 Make the West great again. Yes, exactly.
00:04:53.660 Great hats. There we go. A store.
00:04:55.520 Actually, a store is coming, but we don't have
00:04:57.680 enough details to announce it yet, but it's coming.
00:04:59.420 We've got big changes happening at the Western Standard.
00:05:02.220 Vax passes ending in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
00:05:06.000 No sign of the federal Vax Pass coming to an end and not as word around the rest of the country, but not quite happening yet.
00:05:14.400 Dave, run us through Alberta, then Saskatchewan.
00:05:17.360 Maybe set the table then on the rest of the country.
00:05:19.520 Sure. You got 20 minutes.
00:05:23.600 Premier Kenny last night got rid of the Vax Passport effective at midnight Wednesday.
00:05:31.360 People have been wanting this for forever.
00:05:34.180 Pubs and restaurants, small venues don't have to have proofs of vaccination anymore.
00:05:41.160 He said businesses can keep it, and certainly some in Calgary have already announced
00:05:44.840 that they are going to keep it.
00:05:48.360 And the big change coming on Monday is no masking for kids at school.
00:05:54.820 If things continue to trend in the right direction and there's no upward pressure
00:05:59.940 on the healthcare system then on march 1st there's other restrictions that are coming down
00:06:06.100 uh the saddle dome and uh rogers uh up in edmonton will be able to have full capacity games again
00:06:13.300 uh what else corey is coming in on march 1st uh the late closures i think for uh bars and
00:06:20.980 restaurants late closures and bars and restaurants the government was stopping
00:06:24.500 covid from transmitting after 10 or 11 or whatever 11 o'clock yeah but now covid will transmit after
00:06:29.940 11. all the way all the way till uh 2 a.m yeah so then covid can transmit after 11. this is
00:06:37.540 this is you know i own a bar for years and i do understand a lot of diseases get transmitted
00:06:42.500 after midnight particularly when there's been a lot of stuff served but it wasn't covid going
00:06:46.020 around and no regulation is going to stop that yeah if you work on we can't get covid over your
00:06:52.980 face maybe yeah well with face condoms is what you're supposed to have now yes yes she's a
00:06:58.180 prophylactic yeah uh other most of the restrictions will be lifted uh on march 1st except for those
00:07:08.340 uh affecting hospitals derek uh those protocols will remain in place until further notice and
00:07:14.900 they're gonna have to see more of a more of a decline and uh and whatnot in those uh our
00:07:19.780 Our neighbors, Saskatchewan, similar sort of plan.
00:07:23.360 They start on Monday.
00:07:24.740 Premier Scott Moe announced this week that their VACS passport ends on Monday.
00:07:31.140 Ontario, interestingly, came out today and said, no, we are not going to reduce any restrictions.
00:07:37.400 We're going to stay the course.
00:07:38.500 We're not going to follow in Alberta and Saskatchewan's lead.
00:07:41.580 And even though, you know, provinces are starting to lift restrictions, no sign from Prime Minister Trudeau that he's anywhere near lifting the restrictions.
00:07:53.160 And, you know, we'll talk about what that's doing to truckers and our nation's capital a bit later.
00:08:00.700 Yeah, so in the Alberta case, it seems that vaccine passport discrimination is going to be allowed to continue privately.
00:08:08.960 I've got a weird libertarian view on discrimination that you should be allowed to discriminate for any grounds.
00:08:15.440 If I don't want to hire Corey, if he had green hair, well, I should have a right to. 0.99
00:08:19.000 I'm just an asshole, and I should pay the consequences of that. 0.98
00:08:21.600 But private sector discrimination, well, it shouldn't be aided and abetted by the government. 0.98
00:08:27.020 The government's continuing with the QR code here.
00:08:28.880 So the government is still supporting private discrimination here.
00:08:32.420 I think in the absence of a QR code, if a private business wanted to say, no, we're going to require a vaccine passport to get in, well, it'd be fine.
00:08:41.000 But I don't think the government should be providing the vaccine passport, which is a tool of that discrimination.
00:08:46.300 Yeah, somebody gets already there and it's talking about at least the choices at the door.
00:08:50.360 The person doesn't have to. 0.99
00:08:51.580 If they say we demand to see your vaccination status, the prospective customer can say, no, kiss my butt and turn around and leave. 0.98
00:08:57.700 They're not forced to. 0.98
00:08:58.580 They can go to another.
00:08:59.160 as you said i'm kind of mixed on the government facilitating but uh it's gonna be funny to watch
00:09:03.960 i mean we i've looked you know there's a couple of virtue signaling hipster style businesses saying
00:09:08.220 we're gonna do it because we've got demands and more customers will come yeah right you know we
00:09:11.620 see that sort of thing when they say that we're gonna end tipping or we're gonna pay a living 0.79
00:09:14.760 wage at our restaurant and things like that hipsters don't spend they these guys will back
00:09:19.860 off on that virtue signaling fast because you got 15 of your customer base who cannot come in even
00:09:24.200 if they wanted to yeah and most restaurants and bars are thrilled to regain that because they're
00:09:28.120 desperate right now especially in parts of the province primarily outside the two big cities
00:09:31.880 where vaccination rates are lower a lot of people just have phony baloney vaccine passports which
00:09:37.960 i'm fine with there's nothing wrong about deceiving a deceitful and authoritarian government
00:09:42.840 um but what's going to happen now is now the ball is going to be in the court of business owners
00:09:47.880 and i would uh very despite what someone like the place like the calgary chamber of commerce says
00:09:53.080 there is a very good reason the western standard despite being headquartered in calgary is not a
00:09:58.600 member of the calgary chamber of commerce they're absolutely terrible they go way beyond business
00:10:03.780 stuff they're activists you'd think it was run by a bunch of socialists but it's apparently
00:10:07.840 representing businesses that's why the western standard is in fact a member of the strathmore
00:10:12.520 chamber of commerce the big uh big city of strathmore i did write a column about that
00:10:17.080 today actually if you go to westernstandardonline.com you'll see it and i did include the
00:10:20.600 fact that yes, the standard, I mean, a business organization, advocacy, getting together,
00:10:24.640 networking is important, but the Calgary Economic Chamber is a joke. And that's why we
00:10:30.080 have to explain why. And I explained why the standard's not part of it.
00:10:33.620 In fairness, they do have to keep the QR code for airline travel, right? There's not a,
00:10:39.180 you got to have that code to get on an airplane in Canada.
00:10:42.780 Actually, I would say we don't. We should then put the ball on Ottawa's court and say,
00:10:46.340 why are you banning Albertans from flying?
00:10:49.160 Then you have a constitutional issue.
00:10:50.800 But in the meantime, for travelers who need it,
00:10:52.680 we don't want to put our citizens through more headache.
00:10:54.560 We should put that ball in Ottawa's court.
00:10:56.680 We should have absolutely nothing to do, I think, in facilitating this.
00:10:59.820 If Ottawa then wants to start its own QR code, well, fine.
00:11:03.800 But that's funny because they don't have access to the health care records
00:11:06.100 because they're not allowed to because they have no control over health care.
00:11:07.920 You can't ground citizens for an extended period.
00:11:10.840 Ottawa would be grounding the citizens.
00:11:12.540 You put the ball in Ottawa's court.
00:11:14.240 sure but they're still grounded no matter who did it yeah so don't let alberta be facilitating this
00:11:19.840 kind of discrimination if if if we're gonna have vaccine passport because remember many albertans
00:11:24.740 are grounded because they don't have vaccine passports they're already grounded so you put
00:11:29.440 the ball in ottawa's court let them explain why albertans can't fly let them explain why albertans
00:11:33.660 aren't allowed to get on a boat uh in a port or at least start the battle of pushing back and saying
00:11:39.180 But yeah, for now, I mean, you don't want to, without notice.
00:11:42.200 I mean, I got to, he had to throw a bone.
00:11:44.500 He did it quickly.
00:11:44.940 He did it faster than I expected.
00:11:46.580 At least, you know, he's obviously trying to stretch it out.
00:11:48.380 It's just like, you don't let the kids open every gift on Christmas Eve.
00:11:50.840 You want to maybe spread those things out.
00:11:52.460 For Hanukkah.
00:11:52.920 So, or Hanukkah, you could really spread it out a while.
00:11:55.620 Dreadle, dreadle, dreadle, you know.
00:11:57.120 But the, with this, okay, here's your gift.
00:12:00.220 The Vax passports are gone, like right now.
00:12:02.240 Monday, kids are losing the mess. 1.00
00:12:03.940 He's stretching it out.
00:12:05.260 Do you think it's going to be enough to decrease the political internal crisis he's in, Derek?
00:12:11.620 So that's what I want to talk about now. It was quite strange seeing Kenny use the rhetoric of his anti-lockdown, anti-forced masking and vaccination opponents, largely.
00:12:24.460 You know, that this is damaging. It's not doing anything. But these are incredible social costs. These are incredible costs to our liberties.
00:12:31.460 he was talking the way we talk except he was talking about his own policies he was almost
00:12:40.280 trying to co-opt his critics and saying uh yeah these things are bad we're going after it so it
00:12:47.200 was quite bizarre he's using language that he decries as deplorable on monday but as soon as
00:12:55.300 he agrees with it, it's fine on Tuesday. Corey, he's adopted some of the rhetoric here, but this
00:13:02.640 is rhetoric slamming his own policies that he himself imposed. These were his choices to enact.
00:13:08.280 Do you think this is going to ease up some of the political pressure on? No, he can't win.
00:13:13.560 You know, he's trying, but I just can't see it. He's getting it from both sides now. The people
00:13:19.000 want full opening, want it open. The crazed left want us to remain locked in our homes,
00:13:24.000 And no matter what compromise he tries, they're going to be on him.
00:13:27.380 And it won't translate to support.
00:13:29.360 I mean, I'm giving the thumbs up for some of the stuff he's done.
00:13:33.300 But it reminds me of that Homer Simpson meme you always see where he's got the chef's hat and everything.
00:13:36.560 All he does is pour a little bit of milk on some cereal or something and he blows up into flames.
00:13:40.900 Nothing poor Kenny can do is just going to pull him out.
00:13:43.160 Even if he, say, completely opened up today and went whole hog, right on, you know, struck him at night, everything 100% is gone.
00:13:51.700 Is there enough forgiveness, though, for him from the people who, you know, generally that at least formally made up the base of the UCP?
00:13:59.560 But they forgive him if he went whole hawk.
00:14:01.680 No, not a chance.
00:14:02.940 What do we have, 26 writing constituencies by the side?
00:14:06.320 Yeah, it's the adjustment is too close to get to forgiving.
00:14:08.580 They're not going to change their minds.
00:14:10.840 You know, they were upset with him before these latest restrictions came down.
00:14:15.400 But we've got a political cartoon up just, I think, the day before Kenny announced his plan for reopening.
00:14:20.720 And it's kind of a take on the old Charlie Brown with the football being pulled away.
00:14:25.180 And it's a picture of Kenny holding the football that says freedom because he's open and he's closed and he's open and he's closed.
00:14:33.360 Maybe this is the last time we reopen and we're open for good.
00:14:36.100 But we've heard open for summer, open forever, open for good.
00:14:39.960 We've heard this on and on and on.
00:14:42.680 And every time it's temporary.
00:14:43.620 And he said last night that, hey, these could come back if things start trending the other way.
00:14:49.600 I'll bring him back. He's at least coached it
00:14:51.900 that much. He has learned a little from burning.
00:14:53.760 When he opened for good last summer, it was for good.
00:14:55.980 It was never going to lock down again. It was never, never,
00:14:57.980 never. This time he is throwing
00:14:59.800 a few caveats in there carefully
00:15:01.880 for himself, so he has learned. But again, is it enough
00:15:03.840 to save him? No, I don't think so.
00:15:05.640 Sorry, Corey. I was talking to a 1.00
00:15:07.900 radio station in Mississauga
00:15:09.760 this afternoon, and the host and I were
00:15:11.760 talking. We decided Aaron O'Toole was the
00:15:13.740 biggest flip-flop artist in Canadian
00:15:15.760 politics, followed by Kenny.
00:15:17.420 But now O'Toole doesn't matter.
00:15:20.840 So Kenny currently takes the crown.
00:15:24.220 Everyone's the best at something.
00:15:25.400 Everyone's the best at something.
00:15:29.520 All right, so I'd say Moe's probably in a similar case,
00:15:34.020 but I think there's less of an organized opposition
00:15:36.360 against Premier Moe's leadership,
00:15:37.720 both within his party and outside of it.
00:15:41.720 You know, Kenny, every time he's reopened,
00:15:44.060 he's been forced to.
00:15:44.900 The last time, you know, in the lead up to open for summer, you know, we had the rogue rodeos breaking out, you know, pretty big protests growing.
00:15:54.220 And he was angry because he was seen, I think, rightfully to be dragged to reopening, kicking and screaming.
00:16:01.380 He wanted to be able to announce this as his personal triumph, that he's the freedom fighter, not that he's being dragged there and he actually doesn't want to be.
00:16:07.800 I think it's the same thing again. Without the blockaded coups, without the freedom convoy to
00:16:13.420 Ottawa, I don't think this would be happening. But he did. He has at least partially and
00:16:19.120 significantly caved to pressure here. But Trudeau is a different matter, because none of these
00:16:25.220 people are probably Trudeau voters. Kenny needs these people to keep his leadership. And then
00:16:29.800 after that, he needs them to keep the premiership. Trudeau doesn't need any of these people. And,
00:16:34.260 And, you know, Trudeau's rhetoric has been decidedly confrontational, if not one-sided.
00:16:41.340 Yeah.
00:16:42.560 And so the argument's being made, and I don't think this is an argument to end whatever's happening in Ottawa.
00:16:47.560 I think they should end it on their own terms for maybe other reasons.
00:16:52.220 But the argument's being made, and I think there might be something to it,
00:16:54.180 that Trudeau will never reopen as long as they're there because he hates them.
00:16:59.340 He hates everything they stand for.
00:17:00.620 and they're a good thing for his base to point at the point of his base and say i'm against these 0.99
00:17:05.820 guys because they're all racist fascist misogynists add in all the isms you'd like don't forget nazis 0.98
00:17:11.380 nazis nazis and confederates um i'd like your take on this cory do you think actually that 0.99
00:17:19.320 the freedom convoy in ottawa or and whatever it's morphed into now the camp around ottawa
00:17:23.660 do you think there's any chance that trudeau ever reopens as long as they're there
00:17:27.320 probably not but i mean both sides need an exit strategy here i worry about it's a building
00:17:33.260 pressure that's the thing and uh i i think i mean having that member come out of trudeau's own
00:17:38.480 caucus it's rare i mean those liberals stay tight typically i mean it's actually just a second there
00:17:42.500 was another one there we go from quebec so i think i mean if anything justin is so intractable
00:17:49.660 and almost in my view a little bit insane uh on a point of pride he might keep hanging on but i
00:17:54.900 mean if you could just show a little bit of just respect and receptive to talking even and the same
00:18:01.500 with the ones on the ground you can't say that we we demand the end of the government we demand
00:18:05.740 trudeau to step down or any of that garbage and uh just show that there's an end game show there's
00:18:11.080 a plan show there's a way out even if you aren't moving towards it accept that but right now both
00:18:16.200 sides are entrenched and it's just i'm fearful actually it's a recipe for a big problem soon
00:18:20.900 Our James Finkbeiner spent a week down at the Coots border, and he got some terrific photos that he put up today.
00:18:28.140 They're in there for the long haul.
00:18:30.060 They've got enough toilet paper to last a year down there.
00:18:33.020 And James has got a nice photo spread on the website today.
00:18:36.420 Just all the different stocks and stores and gasoline and propane that they've got down there.
00:18:41.580 So it could go on for a long time.
00:18:44.180 I've actually kind of jumped ahead because these things are so related.
00:18:47.220 our next segment was going to be, there's no end in sight for this. Where is this going to go?
00:18:52.680 So we're going to transition to that. But first, we just have to acknowledge another one of our
00:18:57.000 great sponsors, the Canadian Shooting Sports Association. The Canadian Shooting Sports
00:19:01.440 Association is a great organization I've been a part of for well over a decade. These guys are
00:19:08.760 fighting for your right to own, use, and buy responsibly firearms in Canada. You've got
00:19:14.860 four parties in Parliament that hate guns, and one party that's kind of divided on guns between
00:19:21.700 loves guns and quietly ashamed of guns. And so it's important to have powerful groups like this,
00:19:29.080 not just lobbying the politicians, because the politicians don't always listen. They're doing
00:19:32.220 advocacy throughout their changing hearts and minds, because at the end of the day,
00:19:35.560 the politicians will follow where the votes are, proposing reasonable gun legislation and
00:19:40.480 regulations and launching legal challenges. These guys, I remember when Trudeau announced the big
00:19:47.720 sweeping gun ban a year and a half roughly ago, these guys exposed that Trudeau had accidentally
00:19:55.040 banned duck hunting shotguns. And they, you know, we're going through this. I remember I was sitting
00:20:02.320 at home and I measured the bore of my own 12 gauge. I've got a, I was actually shooting out
00:20:08.120 clays uh this uh just this weekend um and i ever i measured this thing and i kept on looking at the
00:20:14.620 regulations that the c ssa provided and i was like my very simple basic duck hunting gun is now
00:20:22.220 illegal um and it was their advocacy that essentially had the liberal government flip
00:20:26.180 flop on that they didn't i don't think a little was intended to ban regular duck hunting shotguns
00:20:30.200 but they did ban them on paper on paper they are still technically banned uh but these guys do uh
00:20:35.340 do great work, all firearms owners in Canada owe them a real debt of gratitude. And even if you're
00:20:42.120 not a gun owner, supporting the right of others to responsibly own, use and buy firearms in Canada
00:20:47.380 is an important value. So check them out. Jeez, their URL, you know the URL.
00:20:53.640 C-S-S-A-C-I-L-A.org. And if you just search them, Canada Shooting Sports Association 2,
00:21:00.340 they come up pretty quick.
00:21:01.320 Yeah, I think that's got to be a bilingual URL.
00:21:04.020 I think that must be what the CILA is.
00:21:06.400 I refuse to know enough French to know what that might be.
00:21:08.080 Do we know what Western Standard is in French?
00:21:11.720 We can figure it out.
00:21:12.780 It's a four-letter word to them.
00:21:13.860 Miko, do you speak French?
00:21:15.540 No?
00:21:16.340 All right.
00:21:16.960 So did you hit anything on the weekend?
00:21:18.660 Were you able to hit one? 1.00
00:21:19.460 I murdered a lot of clays. 1.00
00:21:20.680 Oh, good for you. 1.00
00:21:21.460 Yeah, that's funny.
00:21:22.200 Actually, I wasn't very good.
00:21:23.320 I'm pretty rusty.
00:21:24.300 I was kind of ashamed.
00:21:25.940 I might be going out this weekend.
00:21:27.060 I went out by Crossfield for that.
00:21:28.840 Oh, Silver Willow.
00:21:29.760 Yes.
00:21:30.280 We got to get them as a sponsor.
00:21:31.760 I love shooting at Silver Willow.
00:21:33.080 Oh. 0.81
00:21:33.440 I'll drop a card while you're out there
00:21:35.660 because that trap shooting that you know doing that circuit
00:21:37.720 and everything that's a riot a friend of mine Jamie took me out
00:21:39.720 doing that a few months ago
00:21:41.560 and boy what a good time that is I want you to take this clip we're making
00:21:43.820 right now and show them
00:21:45.500 I want Silver Willow as a sponsor
00:21:47.360 I love it's golfing with a
00:21:49.860 shotgun yeah there's 18 stops
00:21:51.580 they're all different and I hate golfing but
00:21:53.620 I love shotguns
00:21:54.700 I went there for my bachelor party
00:21:56.960 it's great oh it's a good time shoulder was sore for a few
00:21:59.700 days after that's a lot of shots in one round
00:22:01.460 I made the mistake of, I haven't talked about shotguns for a long time here now, but I made the mistake, I had just a big giant bag of random shotgun shells.
00:22:10.740 Like two shot.
00:22:11.920 Yeah, so it wasn't just the little clay shooters, which are not, you know, they don't hurt at all.
00:22:15.840 This bag, turns out two thirds of it was three and a half inch high powder steel shot for geese.
00:22:22.380 And you can't see, but my shoulder is black and I do not bruise easily. 0.95
00:22:26.140 You can punch me in the face right now, not an invitation, but you can punch me in the face, I probably won't bruise. 0.57
00:22:31.460 I've got like a black shoulder because I probably fired a hundred and three and a half inch steel 0.99
00:22:34.860 shot. Okay. Back to, uh, we're charging you for that, by the way, Silverwill. You haven't signed
00:22:41.180 on as an average, as a sponsor yet, but we're sending you a bill for that one. Bill is in the
00:22:45.700 mail. Yeah. Okay. Uh, so I, I, we already kind of got into this a bit. Uh, there is no end in
00:22:52.200 sight though for, uh, the Freedom Truckers. This is, they're, they're hunkered in. Uh,
00:22:57.340 But, Dave, tell us both the situation in Ottawa, Coutts, and Windsor and several others.
00:23:03.020 Windsor, no.
00:23:03.860 Yeah, let's start with Ottawa.
00:23:05.300 Police say there's 400 truckers sort of in the downtown area.
00:23:10.040 That's a lot of semis.
00:23:11.520 They're now concerned about the children.
00:23:13.620 They say a quarter of those 400 have children living in them.
00:23:17.520 They're concerned about sanitary conditions.
00:23:21.840 And they're going to go down and check it out.
00:23:24.460 Ottawa police say they're not going to seize any children.
00:23:26.640 but holy cow, could you imagine if they did? That would send a-
00:23:31.360 I have a feeling that might not go down.
00:23:32.720 No, it would not go down well. So there's no negotiations going on with the feds.
00:23:40.160 They are just encamped, much like their colleagues in Coutts. Now, the RCMP held a press conference
00:23:48.000 this afternoon and said, enforcement is imminent. Now, take that what you want.
00:23:53.040 for this for coots for coots enforcement is imminent now take that what you want it because
00:23:57.600 it from the rcmp it could mean anything from going to hand a traffic ticket to sending in
00:24:02.960 the swap well they said enforcement was underway before and we were we were providing live video
00:24:07.280 of that yeah they kind of really didn't do much well it fizzled out i think one was
00:24:12.880 while we were filming it live i didn't think they were expecting us to be there
00:24:17.040 with we had huge viewership for it secondly as the as they were trying to come in looks
00:24:22.640 like enforcement was underway of some kind. I think they were trying to clear it. All of a sudden,
00:24:28.000 tons of tractors, farmers tractors blew the barricades and started flying down the ditches,
00:24:33.520 flying Alberta. It's got to be embarrassing to the RCMP when a John Deere blows right by.
00:24:39.280 Eric, what training have you got though? I mean, how do you stop that?
00:24:42.160 how do you deal with it well these aren't like standard uh yeah you don't want to shoot at well
00:24:47.680 they're also not the typical violent you know you know and most lefty vote protesters let's be clear
00:24:53.440 are not violent might disagree with what they're doing most of them aren't violent but there tends
00:24:57.440 to be a significantly larger violent subsection of them there's been no violent subsections of
00:25:02.640 any of these protests um so you know i mean people who are unarmed who have not committed
00:25:08.640 any acts of assault or aggression, it's really hard to justify sending in tear gas and lodges.
00:25:15.280 Those tractors went around the police barricade. They could have. They had the power and ability
00:25:19.060 to push right through them. It would have been a terrible idea. It would have been good video,
00:25:23.940 but yeah, bad, bad idea. On to Windsor, which may be the most economically problematic place.
00:25:31.100 Monday evening, they completely shut down the Ambassador Bridge over to Michigan, Detroit.
00:25:36.880 the whole thing they completely shut it down by tuesday morning they had opened up uh one lane
00:25:42.960 you know all the rigs were parked uh on the side as one lane uh uh goes open uh traffic chaos the
00:25:49.840 police are telling truckers to go on a uh 200 kilometer uh detour uh to get into the states
00:25:57.680 it's it's normally a four minute wait at the ambassador bridge but this is this is a bridge
00:26:03.520 that brings in 17% of all the imported goods into Canada a huge figure I think
00:26:10.360 I read somewhere today hundred and seventy billion dollars worth of goods
00:26:13.660 come across that bridge unless I'm mistaken more trade crosses that bridge
00:26:17.700 than any other port of entry on the planet 10 the single bit busiest trade
00:26:21.740 bridge in the world 10,000 trucks today go over that bridge normally that's
00:26:25.960 that's just huge traffic so I think that's probably the government's biggest
00:26:31.120 headache right now how to how to get those trucks out of there so full flow can resume normally
00:26:36.660 um everywhere it seems that they're they're packing in i can't say in windsor if they
00:26:43.600 built camps the way they have but in but in coots in ottawa these guys are packed in they're they're
00:26:49.840 ready like they're not just a bunch of dirty hippie squatting in the park these guys have
00:26:54.080 brought fuel, food, bouncy castles, and saunas. 0.53
00:27:00.380 And there's only so much resources.
00:27:02.080 I mean, the police did their thing with Ottawa
00:27:03.920 and a big announcement about it when they spent the night
00:27:05.760 trying to interdict and stop some gas and diesel coming in.
00:27:08.920 But they also said at the same time,
00:27:10.380 we've only got so many officers.
00:27:11.660 They've been working seven days a week.
00:27:13.340 We can't keep up with this.
00:27:14.540 And I saw a video that somebody else put out
00:27:15.920 and it showed that they took a whole bunch of protesters
00:27:17.780 and half of them had like empty jerry cans,
00:27:20.060 but they're all walking all at once towards it.
00:27:22.020 You don't know which ones actually have this stuff
00:27:23.800 which don't you don't have the resources to stop them all they're telling the the telling police
00:27:29.080 that it's water well some of them some of the jerry cans are water some of them are empty and
00:27:34.840 some of them are surely gasoline or diesel and are the police going to just start arresting people
00:27:39.240 for carrying empty jerry cans of water when you when you see the little old lady with two jerry
00:27:44.600 cans walking along you know she's probably empty you never know those old bitties sometimes i would 1.00
00:27:49.800 You put the diesel on her because you really don't want to, you don't want to arrest Oma, she'll kick your ass. That's bad DV. 1.00
00:27:55.900 The other problem the RCMP have, okay, so they go in and arrest these truckers, haul them out.
00:28:01.360 They don't have a tow truck to move these things.
00:28:03.680 There's not a tow truck company in southern Alberta that wants to deal with this.
00:28:08.040 We call them all and the same in Ottawa.
00:28:10.940 You know, so, all right, let's arrest the truckers, but you still got, you know, 40, 50 trucks blocking the border.
00:28:17.900 How do you get rid of them?
00:28:18.860 And where are you going to put them?
00:28:19.920 That's another thing.
00:28:20.740 I mean, how big a holding facility do they have?
00:28:23.780 Well, I'm sure they could put them in a field somewhere.
00:28:25.820 Like, the holding facility is probably not the biggest issue.
00:28:28.080 It's, you can't, if a trucker does not want his truck moved, that truck is extremely difficult to move.
00:28:34.220 You would, what they would probably need to do, if they want to clear Ottawa, is they're going to have to tear gas people.
00:28:38.600 They're going to have to beat them up and drive them out in a place full of kids, people who have not committed any acts of violence themselves yet.
00:28:45.180 even if you agree or disagree with their actions and i know some people who support what they're
00:28:49.540 doing but don't think it's the right way to do it at this point they should go home whatever
00:28:53.420 but it would it would be extraordinarily violent to just clear them out but even if you clear them
00:28:57.920 out you're going to need probably big cranes and you need to pick these things up and put them on
00:29:03.980 massive flatbeds it would take them at least a week to clear them out yes and so again that's
00:29:10.240 I mean, everything's so intractable.
00:29:11.960 God, somebody's got to start at least talking.
00:29:15.440 Irrespectful.
00:29:16.560 I'm sure some of them are getting tired sitting in those barricades.
00:29:18.820 They're settling in and everything.
00:29:19.840 I'm sure some of them are just saying, look, I want an out.
00:29:22.240 If I can see some progress, I'll fire this thing up and drive out.
00:29:25.380 I think I made my point.
00:29:26.520 But again, as long as Prime Minister Hammerhead's in there,
00:29:29.100 won't even touch the issue, if only when he pop his head up to insult them
00:29:32.740 and inflame them even further, they're entrenched.
00:29:36.620 It's both sides.
00:29:37.280 I think certainly in coots, you're down to the hardcore.
00:29:40.240 You know, those who wanted to make their point on the weekend, stayed overnight.
00:29:44.540 They've all gone home.
00:29:45.980 The people that are down there now are there for the long haul.
00:29:49.580 They're not going anywhere.
00:29:50.100 They're not going anywhere.
00:29:50.960 They're there to stay.
00:29:52.140 Yeah.
00:29:54.000 We've seen, like, tons of cowboys come in.
00:29:56.280 It looked like the cavalry came in for reinforcements.
00:29:58.880 Celebration last week.
00:29:59.900 It was like a carnival.
00:30:01.180 It looked fun.
00:30:02.080 I was a bit envious of James down there.
00:30:04.160 But he was in Coots for a week and a half.
00:30:05.760 That's tough.
00:30:06.460 That's long enough.
00:30:07.040 I was thinking why they need the toilet paper supplies.
00:30:09.020 I used to survey down there.
00:30:10.000 I mean, you go outside, you let go of that paper.
00:30:12.440 It's gone to Saskatchewan in a heartbeat.
00:30:14.100 We're going to cut Corey off before he gets any more graphic about his experiences.
00:30:17.720 I wasn't going to tell you what you do with sweetgrass in that experience.
00:30:20.520 Okay.
00:30:22.760 Well, that's an excellent point in which to cut it off,
00:30:25.940 because I can just tell Corey is going to say something that's going to get us cancelled.
00:30:30.140 Outdoor living tips from an experience survey.
00:30:32.860 Okay.
00:30:33.380 Well, you've heard Corey Morgan's newest show coming up,
00:30:36.320 Adventure Forest Living with Corey Morgan.
00:30:40.000 Okay. Well, Dave, Corey, thank you very much for joining me today. And thank all of you for

00:31:05.540 Oh, man. Do I have to go back to work now?
00:31:07.800 Yes. Absolutely. No, go home. It's late. All right. Thank you very much and God bless.
