It's a slow start to the week for political news, but there's still plenty to get through. The Federal Conservative Party is holding a leadership debate tomorrow in Calgary, and the UCP debate in Saskatoon on Wednesday, so there's a lot to keep up with! Plus, there's some interesting political news this morning, including a Canadian farmer who helps Ukrainian farmers get ready for the Russians coming over the hills.

00:00:00.000 Brian Jean about the issue of provincial police force and Jean said he'd almost like to see a
00:00:06.000 hybrid where you know cities and towns can take over policing in the cities while the RCMP just
00:00:15.140 takes care of rural Alberta. So you'd have the provincial police within within towns and cities
00:00:20.540 and then that would free up the RCMP to to put more boots on the ground in rural areas. So that's
00:00:26.520 Brian Jean's take on it. Danielle Smith has put out a policy on how she's going to protect our kids she 1.00
00:00:33.800 calls it. Basically no more lockdowns and lots of more mental health help for them. This weekend
00:00:43.380 Cory was the 25th anniversary of the Saskatchewan party. So they held a big celebration out in
00:00:49.620 Davidson, Saskatchewan. Attended by no less a luminary than former Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
00:00:56.520 And he was there with current Premier Scott Mowen. 25 years they've now been a political force in
00:01:04.040 Saskatchewan. So some interesting political news on the website this morning. Our Dave Makachuk has just
00:01:12.500 filed a good exclusive, Cory. He's talked with a Manitoba farmer who was just back from the Ukraine
00:01:20.340 where he assisted in teaching Ukrainian farmers how to hold and fire a rifle and get ready for the
00:01:29.040 Russians coming over the hills. So a very interesting column and we'll get that up shortly.
00:01:35.240 Right on. Well, it's a good kickoff to the week. Sort of a little slow in the political news. I guess
00:01:40.800 we're into those doldrums into the end of August. They're kind of all doing constituency work or taking
00:01:46.140 a breather before the fall whirlwind begins, I guess. Yeah, but it's good that we have the two
00:01:51.800 leadership races, the Federal Conservatives and the Provincial UCP. So there's enough copy to keep us
00:01:57.920 busy. Yeah. Well, just that good time to remind everybody I'll segue that fast. You'll be there
00:02:02.240 tomorrow as well. We've got our debate happening at the rooftop tomorrow in Calgary with the
00:02:06.880 frontriners and the UCP debate for people who want to get that chance to see them firsthand and see
00:02:11.400 what they got to see. Yeah, it should be a good event. I'm looking forward to it.
